3 and brought as their gifts before the Lord, six covered waggons, and twelve oxen, a waggon from two chiefs, and an ox from each one. And when they had brought them before the Lord,
4 the Lord spoke to Moses saying,
5 Receive them from them, and they shall be for the works of the service of the tabernacle of the testimony; and thou shalt give them to the Levites, to each community according to their service.
6 So Moses, having taken the waggons and the oxen, gave them to the Levites;
7 he gave two waggons and four oxen to the Gersonites, according to their service;
8 and four waggons and eight oxen, he gave to the Merarites, according to their service, by Ithamar the son of Aaron the priest.
9 But to the Kaathites he gave none, because they having the sacred services of the sanctuary, are to carry on their shoulders.
