The chiefs were twelve, a man for every tribe. They were of the patriarchal houses of their respective tribes. ⁴⁵ And the whole review of the Israelites, comprehending their army from twenty years old and upwards, ⁴⁶ every one who went out to be marshalled in Israel, was six hundred and three thousand five hundred and fifty.
