Acts 16:1-3

Thomson(i) 1 and then went down to Derbe and Lystra. And behold there was there a certain disciple, named Timothy, whose mother was a believing Jewess, but his father was a Greek. 2 He was well spoken of by the brethren in Lystra and Iconium. 3 This man Paul wished to go with him. So he took and circumcised him because of the Jews who were in those places, for they all knew that his father was a Greek.
