1 And I saw, at the right hand of him who sat on the throne, a book, which was written within and on the back side, and which was sealed with seven seals.
2 And I saw a strong angel, who proclaimed with a loud voice, Who is competent to open the book, and to loose the seals thereof?
3 And no one either in heaven above, or on the earth, or beneath the earth, was able to open the book, or to look thereon.
4 And I wept much, because no one was found, who was competent to open the book, or to look on it.
5 And one of the Elders said to me, Weep not; behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, hath been victorious: He will open the book, and its seven seals.
6 And I looked, and in the midst of the Elders stood a lamb, as if slain; and it had seven horns, and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God that are sent into all the earth.
7 And he came, and took the book from the right hand of him who sat on the throne.
8 And when he took the book, the four Animals and the twenty and four Elders fell down before the Lamb, each of them having a harp, and cups of gold full of odors, which are the supplications of the saints.
9 And they sung a new anthem, saying: Competent art thou, to take the book, and to open the seals thereof; because thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood, out of every tribe, and tongue, and people, and nation;
