1 And it happened afterwards also, that he was traveling through every city and village, preaching and proclaiming the good-news of the kingdom of God and the twelve were together with him,
2 and some women who were healed of evil spirits and sicknesses: Mary who was called Magdalene, from whom seven demons had gone out,
3 and Joanna the wife of Chuza, Herod’s commissioner, and Susanna, and many others who were serving them from their possessions.
{Mar 4:1-25 & Mat 13:1-23 & Luk 8:4-18 Sea of Galilee.} 4 Now a large crowd was coming together and he spoke through a parable to those who were traveling to him from every city. 5 The sower went forth to sow his seed, and while he was sowing, some fell beside the road, and it was trampled down and the birds of the heaven devoured it. 6 And other fell upon the rock, and when it sprang up, it dried up, because it had no moisture. 7 And other fell in the midst of the thorns, and the thorns sprang up together with it and choked it. 8 And other fell into the good soil, and sprang up and produced fruit a hundred-times over. While saying these things, he was shouting, He who has ears to hear, let him hear.
9 But his disciples asked him, saying, What might this parable be about?
10 But he said, It has been given to you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God, but it is in parables to the rest; in order that seeing, they may not see; and hearing, they may not understand. 11 Now the parable is this: the seed is the word of God. 12 But those beside the road are those who hear; thereafter, the devil comes and takes away the word from their heart, in order that they may not believe and be saved. 13 But those upon the rock are those who, whenever they hear, accept the word with joy, and these have no root, who for a short time believe, and in time of temptation, withdraw. 14 But what fell among the thorns, these are those who have heard, and while they are traveling on with life, they are choked by anxieties and riches and sensual-delights of this life, and they are not bringing themselves to maturity. 15 But that seed in the good soil, these are such as in a good and beautiful heart, having heard the word, hold-onto it and are bearing-fruit with endurance.
16 Now no one, having lit a lamp, hides it in a vessel or places it underneath a bed, but places it upon a lamp-stand, in order that those who travel in may see the light. 17 For there is not anything hid, that will not become apparent; nor anything secret, that will not be known and may come into apparent view. 18 Therefore beware, how you hear; for whoever has, more will be given to him, and whoever does not have, even what he seems to have will be taken away from him.
19 Now there came to him his mother and brethren, and they were not able to get-close to him because of the crowd. 20 And it was reported to him, saying, Your mother and your brethren are standing outside, wishing to see you.
21 But he answered and said to them, My mother and my brethren are those who hear the word of God and are doing it.
22 Now it happened on one of those days, that he stepped onto a ship, himself and his disciples, and he said to them, We should go over to the area beyond-that of the lake. And they set-sail. 23 But while sailing, he slept and a gale of wind came down onto the lake, and they were filling with water, and were in peril.
24 Now having come to him, they aroused him, saying, Master, Master! We are perishing. But having arisen, he rebuked the wind and the wave of the water, and they ceased, and it became calm.
25 Now he said to them, Where is your faith?
But being afraid, they marveled, saying to one another, Who then is this, that he commands even the winds and the water and they are obedient to him?
26 And they sailed down to the region of the Gadarenes, which is opposite Galilee. 27 Now when Jesus had gone forth upon the land, a certain man out of the city met him, who was held by demons, and he had not clothed himself with a garment in a considerable time and was not abiding in any house, but lived in the tombs. 28 Now when he saw Jesus, and having cried out, he fell down before him, and with a loud voice said, What is this thing with me and with you, Jesus, Son of the Highest God? I beseech of you. Do not torment me. 29 For he commanded the unclean spirit to come out from the man. For it had seized him many times, and he was being guarded and bound with chains and shackles, and ripping the bonds, he was being driven by the demon into the wilderness.
30 Now Jesus asked him, saying, What is your name?
Now he said, Legion. (Because many demons had entered into him.) 31 And he was pleading with him in order that he might not command them to go away into the abyss. 32 Now a considerable herd of swine was there, feeding at the mountain. And he was pleading with him in order that he might permit them to enter into those swine. And he permitted them. 33 Now the demons having gone out from the man, entered into the swine, and the herd rushed down the cliff into the lake and were choking to death. 34 Now when those who are feeding them saw what had happened, they fled and reported it in the city and in the rural-area. 35 Now they went out to see what had happened, and they came to Jesus and found the man, from whom the demons had gone out, sitting, having on garments and being sensible, beside the feet of Jesus, and they were afraid. 36 But those who saw it reported to them also, how he who was demon-possessed was cured. 37 And all the multitude of the region around the Gadarenes asked him to go away from them, because they were being held by great fear, and he stepped into the ship and returned. 38 Now the man from whom the demons had gone out of, was beseeching to be together with him.
But Jesus dismissed him, saying, 39 Return to your house, and describe how-much God has done for you. And he went away, preaching in the whole city how much Jesus had done to him. 40 Now it happened while Jesus was returning, the crowd accepted him; for they were all expecting him.
41 And behold, a man whose name was Jairus came, and he possessed the office of ruler of the synagogue, and he fell beside Jesus’feet and was pleading with him to come into his house; 42 because there was to him an only begotten daughter, approximately twelve years old, and she was dying. But while he was going, the crowds were too close, choking him.
43 And a woman, having a flowing of blood twelve years, who had consumed her whole livelihood upon physicians, was not strong-enough to be healed by anyone. 44 She came behind him and touched the hem of his garment, and instantly, the flowing of her blood stopped. 45 And Jesus said, Who touched my garment?
But when all denied, Peter and those with him said, Master, the crowds are crowding against you, and are pressing against you and you say, Who touched my garment?
46 But Jesus said, Someone touched me; for I knew that power had gone forth from me.
47 Now when the woman saw that she was not eluding him, she came trembling, and having fallen down before him, reported to him in the sight of all the people, because of what cause she touched him and how she was healed instantly.
48 Now he said to her, Have courage daughter, your faith has saved you; travel in peace.
49 While still speaking, someone from the ruler of the synagogue’s house comes, saying, Your daughter has died; do not bother the Teacher.
50 But Jesus hearing it, answered him, saying, Do not fear. Only believe and she will be cured. 51 Now having entered into the house, he allowed no one to enter it, except Peter and John and James, and the father and the mother of the child. 52 Now all were weeping and grieving her. But he said, Do not weep; she is not dead, but is sleeping. 53 And they were laughing at him, knowing that she was dead. 54 But he, having cast everyone outside and taking-hold of her hand, shouted, saying, Child, arise. 55 And her spirit returned, and she rose up instantly, and he commanded that something be given to her to eat. 56 Now her parents were astonished, but he commanded them to tell no one what had happened.
