1 Peter 5

MLV(i) 1 I am encouraging the elders the ones among you, (the fellow elder and witness of the sufferings of the Christ, also the partner of the glory which is about to be revealed). 2 Shepherd the flock of God among you, exercising the oversight, not by compulsion, but willfully, nor covetously, but eagerly; 3 nor like one lording it over his inheritances, but by becoming examples to the flock. 4 And when the Chief-Shepherd is made manifest, you will be getting the unfading crown of glory.
5 Likewise, the younger ones, be subject to the elder ones. But all of you be subject to one another, clothe yourselves with humility, because ‘God resists the haughty, but is giving grace to the humble.’ 6 Therefore humble yourselves under the powerful hand of God, in order that he may exalt you in time; 7 having tossed forth all your anxiety upon him, because there is care concerning you with him. 8 Be sober! Watch! Your opponent, the devil, like a roaring lion, is walking around seeking whom he may swallow, 9 to whom, stand against, solid in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are to be completed in the world by your brotherhood. 10 But the God of all grace, who called you to his everlasting glory in Christ Jesus, when you have suffered a small time, he himself may frame you up, will establish, will strengthen and will found you. 11 The glory and the dominion is to him, forevermore. Amen.
12 Through Silvanus, our faithful brother, as I count him, I have written to you a few words, encouraging and testifying this to be the true grace of God in which you are standing. 13 She who is in Babylon, chosen together with you, and my son Mark greets you. 14 Greet one another with a kiss of love.
Peace to all of you who are in Christ Jesus. Amen.
