LITV⁽ⁱ⁾ ¹ And it happened after the death of Joshua, the sons of Israel inquired of Jehovah, saying, Who shall first go up for us against the Canaanites, to fight against them? ² And Jehovah said, Judah shall go up. Behold, I have given the land into his hand. ³ And Judah said to his brother Simeon, Go up with me into my lot, and we shall fight against the Canaanites. And I also will go with you into your lot. And Simeon went with him. ⁴ And Judah went up, and Jehovah delivered the Canaanites and the Perizzites into their hand. And they struck them in Bezek, ten thousand men. ⁵ And they found Adoni-bezek in Bezek, and fought against him, and struck the Canaanites and the Perizzites. ⁶ And Adonibezek fled, and they pursued him and caught him, and cut off his thumbs and his big toes. ⁷ And Adoni-bezek said, Seventy kings with their thumbs and their big toes cut off used to be gathering scraps under my table. As I have done, so God has repaid me. And they brought him to Jerusalem, and he died there.
