31 Then the Jews, in order that the bodies may not remain on the cross during the Sabbath, since it was the Preparation (for the day of that Sabbath was a high day), asked Pilate, that they might break their legs, and take them down.
32 Then the soldiers came, and broke the legs of the first one, and of the other one being crucified along with Him.
33 But having come to Jesus, when they saw that He was already dead, they did not break His legs:
34 but one of the soldiers pierced His side through with the spear, and immediately blood and water came out.
35 And He having seen hath testified, and his testimony is true: and he knows that he speaks the truth, that you also may believe.
36 For these things took place, in order that the Scripture might be fulfilled, A bone of Him shall not be broken.
37 Again another Scripture says, They shall look on Him, whom they have pierced.
