John 19:31-37

BLB(i) 31 Therefore the Jews, because it was the Preparation, so that bodies would not remain on the cross on the Sabbath—for that Sabbath was a high day—asked Pilate that their legs might be broken and they might be taken away. 32 So the soldiers came, and indeed they broke the legs of the first, and of the other having been crucified with Him. 33 But having come to Jesus, when they saw Him already having been dead, they did not break His legs. 34 But one of the soldiers pierced His side with a spear, and blood and water came out immediately. 35 And the one having seen has borne witness, and his testimony is true. And He knows that he is speaking truth, so that you also might believe. 36 For these things took place so that the Scripture might be fulfilled: “Not one bone of Him will be broken.” 37 And again, another Scripture says: “They will look on the One they have pierced.”
