THE BURDEN OF BABEL
The burden of the wilderness of the sea: As hurricanes in the south pass through; thus it comes from the wilderness - from an awesome land. 2 I am told a hard vision: the coverter coverts and the ravager ravages. Ascend, O Elam! Besiege, O Maday! I shabbathize all its sighing. 3 So my loins fill with pain: pangs hold me as pangs of a woman birthing: I twist at hearing; I terrify at seeing: 4 my heart staggers; trembling frightens me: he sets the evening breeze of my pleasure to tremble me. 5 Arrange the table! Watch in the watchtower! Eat! Drink! Arise, you governors! Anoint the buckler! 6 For Adonay says thus to me, Go, stand a watcher; to tell what he sees. 7 And he sees a chariot with a pair of cavalry, a chariot of burros, a chariot of camels; and in hearkening, he hearkens: 8 and he calls out, A lion! Adonay, I stand continually on the watchtower in the day and I station in my guard whole nights: 9 and, behold, a chariot of men comes with a pair of cavalry: and he answers and says, Fallen! Babel - fallen! and he breaks all the sculptiles of her elohim to the earth. 10 O my threshing, and the sons of my threshingfloor: whatever I heard from Yah Veh Sabaoth, Elohim of Yisra El, I tell you.
