A SOVEREIGNESS IS SOUGHT
After these words, the fury of sovereign Achash Rosh assuages, and he remembers Vashti and what she worked and what was cut against her. 2 And the lads of the sovereign who minister to him say, Seek out virgin lasses of good visage for the sovereign; 3 and have the sovereign oversee overseers in all the jurisdictions of his sovereigndom, to gather all the virgin lasses of good visage to Shushan palace to the house of the women, to the hand of Hegai the eunuch of the sovereign, guard of the women; and give them their purification; 4 and have the lass who well-pleases the eyes of the sovereign reign instead of Vashti. - and the word well-pleases the eyes of the sovereign; and thus he works. 5 And there is a man in Shushan palace - a Yah Hudiy - his name, Mordekay the son of Yair the son of Shimi the son of Qish, a man of Ben Yamin 6 who was exiled from Yeru Shalem with the exile which was exiled with Yekon Yah sovereign of Yah Hudah, whom Nebukadnets Tsar the sovereign of Babel exiled. 7 And he fosters Hadassah, that is, Ester, the daughter of his uncle; for she has neither father nor mother and the lass is beautiful of form and good of visage; whom, when her father and mother died, Mordekay took for his own daughter. 8
ESTER WELL-PLEASES THE EYES OF THE SOVEREIGN
And so be it, the word and the edict of the sovereign is heard; and many lasses gather to Shushan palace to the hand of Hegai: and Ester is taken to the house of the sovereign to the hand of Hegai the guard of the women. 9 And the lass well-pleases his eyes and he mercies her at his face; and he hastens her purifications with her portions and seven lasses from the house of the sovereign, are seen to be given her; and he changes her and her lasses to the best of the house of the women. 10 Ester told neither her people nor her kindred; for Mordekay misvahed her to not tell: 11 and Mordekay walks day by day at the face of the court of the house of the women, to know the shalom of Ester and what is worked of her. 12 And at the end of twelve months every lass reaches her turn to go in to sovereign Achash Rosh - according to the edict of the women, - for thus are the days of their purifications fulfilled; six months with oil of myrrh and six months with spices and with other purifications of the women 13 - and thus the lasses come to the sovereign; and whatever she says is given her to go with her from the house of the women to the house of the sovereign. 14 In the evening she goes; and in the morning she returns into the second house of the women to the hand of Shaashgaz the eunuch of the sovereign who guards the concubines; she comes in to the sovereign no more, unless the sovereign delights in her and calls her name. 15 And the turn of Ester, the daughter of Abi Hail the uncle of Mordekay who took her for his daughter, is reached to go in to the sovereign; and she seeks no word but what Hegai the eunuch of the sovereign the guard of the women says. And Ester receives charism in the eyes of all who see her: 16 and they take Ester to sovereign Achash Rosh to the house of his sovereigndom in the tenth month, the month Tebeth, in the seventh year of his sovereigndom. 17

And the sovereign loves Ester above all the women and she receives charism and mercy at his face more than all the virgins; so that he sets the diadem of the sovereigndom on her head and has her reign instead of Vashti. 18 And the sovereign works a great banquet to all his governors and his servants, - the banquet of Ester; and he works a rest to the jurisdictions and gives loads according to the hand of the sovereign. 19
MORDEKAY SAVES THE SOVEREIGN
And the virgins gather the second time, and Mordekay settles in the portal of the sovereign. 20 Ester tells neither her kindred nor her people as Mordekay misvahed her; for Ester worked the edict of Mordekay, as when he tutored her. 21 In those days, Mordekay settles in the portal of the sovereign, and two of the eunuchs of the sovereign, Bigthan and Teresh, guards of the threshold, enrage; and seek to send their hand on sovereign Achash Rosh. 22 And the word is known to Mordekay, who tells it to Ester the sovereigness; and Ester says it to the sovereign in the name of Mordekay. 23 And they research the word, and find out; and hang them both on a tree; and inscribe it in the scroll of the words of the days at the face of the sovereign.
