15 Κατὰ (At) δὲ (now) ἑορτὴν (the feast), εἰώθει (was accustomed) ὁ (the) ἡγεμὼν (governor) ἀπολύειν (to release) ἕνα (one) τῷ (to the) ὄχλῳ (multitude) δέσμιον (prisoner), ὃν (whom) ἤθελον (they were wishing).
16 εἶχον (They were holding) δὲ (now) τότε (at that time) δέσμιον (a prisoner) ἐπίσημον (notable), λεγόμενον (called) Βαραββᾶν (Barabbas).
17 συνηγμένων (Being gathered together) οὖν (therefore) αὐτῶν (of them), εἶπεν (said) αὐτοῖς (to them) ὁ (-) Πιλᾶτος (Pilate), “Τίνα (Whom) θέλετε (will you that) ἀπολύσω (I shall release) ὑμῖν (to you)? τὸν› (-) Βαραββᾶν (Barabbas), ἢ (or) Ἰησοῦν (Jesus), τὸν (who) λεγόμενον (is called) Χριστόν (Christ)?”
18 ᾔδει (He knew) γὰρ (for) ὅτι (that) διὰ (through) φθόνον (envy) παρέδωκαν (they delivered up) αὐτόν (him).
