9 οὐ (Not) βραδύνει (does delay) Κύριος (the Lord) τῆς (the) ἐπαγγελίας (promise), ὥς (as) τινες (some) βραδύτητα (slowness) ἡγοῦνται (esteem), ἀλλὰ (but) μακροθυμεῖ (is patient) εἰς (toward) ὑμᾶς (you), μὴ (not) βουλόμενός (willing) τινας (for any) ἀπολέσθαι (to perish), ἀλλὰ (but) πάντας (all) εἰς (to) μετάνοιαν (repentance) χωρῆσαι (to come).
10 Ἥξει (Will come) δὲ (however) ἡμέρα (the day) Κυρίου (of the Lord) ὡς (like) κλέπτης (a thief), ἐν (in) ᾗ (which) οἱ (the) οὐρανοὶ (heavens) ῥοιζηδὸν (with a roar) παρελεύσονται (will pass away), στοιχεῖα (elements) δὲ (then) καυσούμενα (burning with heat) λυθήσεται (will be dissolved), καὶ (and) γῆ (the earth) καὶ (and) τὰ (the) ἐν (in) αὐτῇ (it) ἔργα (works) [οὐχ] (not) εὑρεθήσεται (will be found).
11 Τούτων (These things) οὕτως (in this way) πάντων (all) λυομένων (being dissolved), ποταποὺς (what kind) δεῖ (ought) ὑπάρχειν (to be) ὑμᾶς (you)? ἐν (In) ἁγίαις (holy) ἀναστροφαῖς (conduct) καὶ (and) εὐσεβείαις (godliness),
