11 H5060 He that touches H4191 the dead H5315 body H3605 of any H120 man H2930 shall be unclean H7651 seven H3117 days.

12 H2398 He shall purify H1931 himself H5921 with it on H7992 the third H3117 day, H5921 and on H7637 the seventh H3117 day H2891 he shall be clean: H518 but if H2398 he purify H7992 not himself the third H3117 day, H7637 then the seventh H3117 day H2891 he shall not be clean.

toucheth the dead.He who touched a dead beast was only unclean for one day, (Le 11:12, 27, 39;) but he who touches a dead man is unclean for seven days. This was certainly designed to show the peculiar impurity and sinfulness of man, and the hatefulness of sin, seven times worse than the vilest animal!
