Jeremiah 40:7-9 וישׁמעו heard כל Now when all שׂרי the captains החילים of the forces אשׁר which בשׂדה in the fields, המה they ואנשׁיהם and their men, כי that הפקיד governor מלך the king בבל of Babylon את גדליהו had made Gedaliah בן the son אחיקם of Ahikam בארץ in the land, וכי and הפקיד had committed אתו unto אנשׁים him men, ונשׁים and women, וטף and children, ומדלת and of the poor הארץ of the land, מאשׁר of them that לא were not הגלו carried away captive בבלה׃ to Babylon;

8 H935 ויבאו Then they came H413 אל to H1436 גדליה Gedaliah H4708 המצפתה to Mizpah, H3458 וישׁמעאל even Ishmael H1121 בן the son H5418 נתניהו of Nethaniah, H3110 ויוחנן and Johanan H3129 ויונתן and Jonathan H1121 בני the sons H7143 קרח of Kareah, H8304 ושׂריה and Seraiah H1121 בן the son H8576 תנחמת of Tanhumeth, H1121 ובני and the sons H5778 עופי of Ephai H5200 הנטפתי the Netophathite, H3153 ויזניהו and Jezaniah H1121 בן the son H4602 המעכתי of a Maachathite, H1992 המה they H582 ואנשׁיהם׃

9 H7650 וישׁבע swore H1436 להם גדליהו And Gedaliah H1121 בן the son H296 אחיקם of Ahikam H1121 בן the son H8227 שׁפן of Shaphan H376 ולאנשׁיהם unto them and to their men, H559 לאמר saying, H408 אל not H3372 תיראו Fear H5647 מעבוד to serve H3778 הכשׂדים the Chaldeans: H3427 שׁבו dwell H776 בארץ in the land, H5647 ועבדו and serve H853 את H4428 מלך the king H894 בבל of Babylon, H3190 וייטב׃ and it shall be well
