Isaiah 41

ECB(i) 1
THE FIRST AND THE FINAL
Hush in front of me, O islands. The nations change their force: they come near; then they word: we approach judgment together. 2 Who wakens the just from the rising? He calls him at his foot gives the goyim at his face and subjugates sovereigns: he gives them as the dust to his sword and as disbursed stubble to his bow: 3 he pursues them; he passes in shalom; he goes not by the way with his feet. 4 Who made it and worked it - calling the generations from the beginning? I Yah Veh, the first, and the final; I am he. 5 The islands see and awe; the ends of the earth tremble, they approach; yes, they come. 6 Every man helps his friend; and says to his brother, Courage! 7 And the engraver strengthens the refiner, and him who smoothes with the hammer and him who hammers the anvil, saying, Good to join/unite: and he strengthens it with nails, that it topple not. 8 And you, Yisra El - my servant, Yaaqov whom I chose, the seed of Abraham my beloved, 9 whom I strengthened from the ends of the earth and called you from the nobles, and I said to you, You are my servant; I chose you and spurned you not: 10 awe not; for I am with you: look not around; for I am your Elohim: I strengthen you; yes, I help you; yes, I uphold you with the right of my justness. 11 Behold, all who inflame against you shame and confound: they become as naught; and the men who strive with you destruct. 12 You seek them, and find them not - these men who contend with you: these men who war against you are as deceased and as of naught. 13 For I, Yah Veh your Elohim, hold your right, saying to you, Awe not; I help you. 14 Awe not, you maggot Yaaqov, and you men of Yisra El; I help you - an oracle of Yah Veh your redeemer, the Holy One of Yisra El. 15 Behold, I set you for a new sickle threshing sledge having a master of teeth: you thresh the mountains and pulverize them and set the hills as chaff: 16 you winnow them and the wind bears them away and the storm scatters them: and you twirl in Yah Veh, and halal in the Holy One of Yisra El. 17 The humble and needy seek water and there is none; and their tongue dries for thirst and I Yah Veh answer them; I Elohim of Yisra El forsake them not. 18 I open rivers in the barrens and fountains midst the valleys: I set the wilderness a marsh of water and the land of parch springs of water. 19 In the wilderness I give the cedar - the shittah tree and the myrtle and the oil tree; in the plain I set the fir tree and the oak and the cedar together: 20 that they see and know and set and comprehend together that the hand of Yah Veh worked this and the Holy One of Yisra El created it. 21 Approach with your plea, says Yah Veh; bring forth your mights, says the Sovereign of Yaaqov. 22 They bring forth, and tell us what happened: - the former, what they are, to set our heart on them, and know the latter end of them; or have us hear of the coming. 23 Tell us what comes afterward, so that we know you are elohim: yes, well-please, or vilify, so that we look around and see it together. 24 Behold, you are of naught, and your deeds a hissing: an abhorrence to him who chooses you. 25 I waken from the north, and he comes; from the rising of the sun, he calls on my name: and he comes on prefects as morter, and as the former tramples mire. 26 Who told from the beginning, so that we know? and from the face, so that we say, Just? Yes, there is no one who tells; yes, there is no one who hearkens; yes, there is no one who hears your sayings. 27 First to Siyon, Behold! Behold them: and I give to Yeru Shalem one who evangelizes. 28 For I see, and there is no man; yes, there is no counsellor among them, who, when I ask them, return word. 29 Behold, they are all mischief; their works cease: their libations are wind and waste.
