¹ A book of the lineage of Jesus Christ, Son of David, Son of Abraham.

¹⁸ Now the birth of Jesus Christ was thus: His mother Mary having been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child of the Holy Spirit.

¹ And Jesus having been born in Bethlehem of Judaea, in the days of Herod the King, behold, wise men from the east came to Jerusalem, ² saying, "Where is He that is born King of the Jews, For we saw His star in the east, and we came to do Him homage."

¹⁶ And, having been immersed, Jesus went up straightway from the water; and, behold, the heavens were opened; and he saw the Spirit of God descending as a dove, coming upon Him;

²⁷ And, as Jesus was passing on thence, two blind men followed Him, crying out, and saying, "Have mercy on us, O Son of David!"

²² And, behold, a Canaanitish woman, having come forth out of those borders, cried out, saying, "Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a demon!"

⁴² saying, "What think ye concerning the Christ? Whose Son is He?" They say to Him, "David's." ⁴³ He saith to them, "How then does David in the Spirit call Him Lord, saying, ⁴⁴ The Lord said to my Lord, 'Sit on My right hand, till I put Thy foes beneath Thy feet.' ⁴⁵ If, then, David calls Him Lord, how is He his Son?"

³¹ And, behold, you shall conceive in your womb, and shall bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus. ³² He shall be great, and shall be called Son of the Most High; and the Lord God will give to Him the throne of His father David;

⁶⁹ and raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of David His servant; ⁷⁰ (as He spake through the mouth of His holy prophets from of old),

⁴² Did not the Scriptures say, that the Christ cometh of the seed of David, and from Bethlehem, the village where David was?"

³⁰ being, therefore, a prophet, and knowing that with an oath God swore to him, that out of the fruit of his loins One should sit on his throne;

²² and, having removed him, He raised up for them David to be their king; to whom bearing testimony, He said, 'I found David the son of Jesse, a man after My heart, who will do all My will.' ²³ From the seed of this one, God, according to promise, brought to Israel a Savior, Jesus;

³ concerning His Son, Who was born of the seed of David, according to His flesh,

¹³ For, not through law, was the promise to Abraham, or to his seed, that he should be heir of the world, but it was through the righteousness of faith.

⁵ whose are the fathers; and of whom, according to flesh, is the Christ, Who is over all, God blessed forever. Amen.

¹⁶ Now to Abraham were the promises spoken, and to his Seed. He saith not, "And to seeds," as of many; but as of One, "and to your Seed"; which is Christ.

¹⁶ "I, Jesus, sent My angel to testify to you these things to the assemblies. I am the root and offspring of David, the Bright and Morning Star.
