John 3 Cross References - Whiston

1 Now there was a man of the Pharisees, his name was Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews: 2 He came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God : for no one can do these miracles that thou dost except God were with him. 3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily verily say unto thee, Except any one be born (born again, Vulg.), from above he cannot see the Kingdom of God. 4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mothers womb, and be born? 5 Jesus answered, Verily verily I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Holy Spirit, be cannot enter into the Kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh, is flesh: and that which is born of the Spirit; is Spirit. 7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be must be born from above (born again, Vulg.), 8 The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, or whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit. 9 Nicodemus answered and said unto him; How can these things be? 10 Jesus answered and said unto him, Art thou a master of Israel, and knowest not these things? 11 Verily verily I say unto thee, We speak that we do know, and testifie that we have seen; and ye receive not our testimony. 12 If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe if I shall tell you heavenly things? 13 And no one hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, the Son of man who is in heaven. 14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: 15 That every one who believeth in him, should not perish, but have eternal life. 16 For God hath so loved the world, that he hath given his only begotten Son, that every one who believeth on him, should not perish, but have eternal life. 17 For God sent not his Son unto the world to judge the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him shall not be judged: but he that believeth not, is judged already, because he hath not believed on the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the judgement, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For every one that doth evil things hateth the light, lest his deeds should be reproved by the light. 21 But he that doth truth, cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God. 22 After these things came Jesus and his disciples into the land of Judea, and there he tarried with them, and baptized. 23 And John also was baptizing in Enon, near to Salim, because there was much water there: and they came, and were baptized. 24 For John was not yet cast into prison; 25 Now there arose a question between [some] of Johns disciples and the Jews, about purifying. 26 And they came unto John, and said unto him, Rabbi, he that was with thee beyond Jordan, to whom thou bearest witness, behold, He baptizeth, and all come to him. 27 John answered and said, A man can receive nothing, except it be given him from heaven, 28 Ye your selves bear me witness, that I said, I [am] not the Christ, but that I am sent before him. 29 He that hath the bride, is the bridegroom: but the friend of the bridegroom, who standeth and heareth him, rejoyceth greatly because of the bridegrooms voice, this my joy therefore is fulfilled. 30 He must increase, but I must be diminished. 31 -- 32 But he that cometh from above, is above all: he that is of the earth, is of the earth, and speaketh of the earth. He that cometh from heaven, testifyeth, what he hath seen and heard, and no one receiveth his testimony. 33 He that hath received his testimony, hath set to his seal, that God is true. 34 For he whom God hath sent, speaketh the words of God: for God giveth [him] not the Spirit by measure. 35 The Father loveth the Son, and hath given all things into his hand. 36 That he who believeth on the Son, may have eternal life: But he that believeth not the Son, shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

Nothing at all: for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin; 10 As it is written, there is none righteous, not one: 11 There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. 12 They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable, there is none that doeth good, no not one. 13 Their throat [is] an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps [is] under their lips: 14 Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness. 15 Their feet [are] swift to shed blood. 16 Destruction and misery [are] in their ways: 17 And the way of peace have they not known. 18 There is no fear of God before their eyes. 19 Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.

John 5:31-40

31 If I bear witness of my self, my witness is not true. 32 There is another that beareth witness of me, and ye know that his testimony which he witnesseth of me, is true. 33 Ye sent unto John, and he bare witness unto the truth. 34 But I receive not testimony from men; but these things I say, that ye might be saved. 35 He was a burning and shining light; and ye were willing for a season to rejoyce in his light. 36 But I have a greater testimony than [that] of John: for the works which the Father hath given me to finish the same works that I do, bear witness of me, that my Father hath sent me. 37 And the Father who hath sent me, he himself beareth witness of me. Ye have neither heard his voice, nor seen his shape. 38 And ye have not his word abiding in you, for whom he hath sent, him ye believe not. 39 Search the scriptures, for in them ye think ye have eternal life, and they are they which testifie of me. 40 And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life eternal.

Well spake the Holy Ghost by Esaias the Prophet, unto our fathers, 26 saying, Go unto this people, and say unto them, Hearing, ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and not perceive. 27 For the heart of this people is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes have they closed; lest they should see with [their] eyes, and hear with [their] ears, and understand with [their] heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.

1 John 1:1-3

1 THAT which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled of the word of life; 2 For the life was manifested, and we have seen [it], and bear witness, and shew unto you also that eternal life which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us. 3 That which we have seen and heard, declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship [is] with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.

1 John 5:6-12

6 This is he that came by water, and blood, and the Spirit, Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood, and the Spirit: and it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth. 7 For there are three that bear record. 8 The spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one. 9 If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God, because he hath testified of his Son. 10 He that believeth on the Son of God, hath the record in himself: he that believeth not the Son hath made himself a liar, because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. 11 And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life: and this life is in his Son. 12 He that hath the Son, hath life; he that hath not the Son of God, hath not life.

John 1:1-14

1 IN the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The same was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. 4 And in him was life, and the life is the light of men. 5 And the light appeareth in darkness, and the darkness comprehended it not. 6 There was a man sent from God, his name was John, 7 He came for a witness, to bear witness of the light, that all through him might believe. 8 He was not the light, but was to bear witness of the light. 9 He was the true light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world. 10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. 11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not. 12 As many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God; to them that believe on his name: 13 They were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, not of the will of man, but of God. 14 And the Word was made flesh, and pitched his tabernacle among us, and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

1 Corinthians 2:7-9

7 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, [even] that which is hidden, which God ordained before the world unto our glory. 8 Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known [it], they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. 9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
