1 John 1:1 Cross References - Whiston

¹ THAT which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled of the word of life;

² Even as they delivered them unto us, who from the beginning were eye witnesses, and ministers of the word:

³⁹ Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I my self: handle me and see, for a spirit hath not bones and flesh as ye see me have.

¹ IN the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. ² The same was in the beginning with God. ³ All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. ⁴ And in him was life, and the life is the light of men. ⁵ And the light appeareth in darkness, and the darkness comprehended it not. ⁶ There was a man sent from God, his name was John, ⁷ He came for a witness, to bear witness of the light, that all through him might believe. ⁸ He was not the light, but was to bear witness of the light. ⁹ He was the true light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world. ¹⁰ He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. ¹¹ He came unto his own, and his own received him not. ¹² As many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God; to them that believe on his name: ¹³ They were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, not of the will of man, but of God. ¹⁴ And the Word was made flesh, and pitched his tabernacle among us, and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. ¹⁵ John bare witness of him, and cried, This was he of whom I spake to you. He that cometh aster me, was made before me: for he was preferred to me. ¹⁶ For of his fulness have all we received and grace for grace. ¹⁷ For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth by Jesus Christ. ¹⁸ No one hath Seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared [him].

²⁶ For as the living Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself:

⁵⁸ Jesus therefore said unto them, Verily verily I say unto you, Before Abraham I am.

³⁵ And he that saw [it], bear record, and his record is true: and he knoweth [Read: we know, as 21:24] that he saith true, that ye also might believe.

²⁷ Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and put unto my side; and be not faithless, but believing.

³ To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion, by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God:

²⁰ For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and beard.

¹⁶ For we have not folowed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eye witnesses of his majesty. ¹⁷ For he received from God the Father, honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory. This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. ¹⁸ And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount.

² For the life was manifested, and we have seen [it], and bear witness, and shew unto you also that eternal life which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us. ³ That which we have seen and heard, declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship [is] with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.

¹³ I write unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I write unto you, young men, because ye have overcome the wicked one. I have written unto you, little children, because ye have known the Father. ¹⁴ I have written unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I have written unto you, young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one.

¹⁴ And we have seen, and do testify, that the Father sent the Son, the Saviour of the World.

⁷ For there are three that bear record.

⁸ I am Alpha and Omega, saith the Lord God, who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.

¹¹ Saying, what thou seest, write in a book, and send unto the seven churches, unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamus, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea.

¹⁷ And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead: and he laid his right hand upon me, saying. Fear not; I am the first begotten, and the last: ¹⁸ He that liveth, and was dead; and behold, I am alive for evermore; and have the keys of hades and of death.

⁸ And unto the angel who is at the church of Smyrna, write, These things saith the first begotten, arid the last, who was dead, and is alive;

¹³ And he [was] clothed with a vesture dipt in blood: and his name hath been called, The Word of God.
