1 John 1:1 Cross References - Wesley

¹ That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have beheld, and our hands have handled of the word of life:

² Even as they who were eye-witnesses and ministers of the word from the beginning, delivered them to us:

³⁹ Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself. Handle me and see: for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as you see me have.

¹ In the beginning existed the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. ² The same was in the beginning with God. ³ All things were made by him, and without him was not one single thing made that was made. ⁴ In him was life, and the life was the light of men. ⁵ And the light shineth in darkness, but the darkness perceived it not. ⁶ There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. The same came for a testimony, ⁷ to testify of the light, that all thro' it might believe. ⁸ He was not the light, but was sent to testify of the light. ⁹ This was the true light, who lighteth every man that cometh into the world. ¹⁰ He was in the world, and the world was made by him; yet the world knew him not. ¹¹ He came to his own, and his own received him not. ¹² But as many as received him, to them gave he privilege to become the sons of God, to them that believe in his name: ¹³ Who were born, not of blood, nor by the will of the flesh, nor by the will of man, but of God. ¹⁴ And the Word was made flesh, and tabernacled among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father) full of grace and truth. ¹⁵ John testified of him and cried, saying, This is he of whom I said, He that cometh after me is preferred before me, for he was before me. ¹⁶ And out of his fulness have we all received, even grace upon grace. For the law was given by Moses, ¹⁷ but grace and truth was by Jesus Christ. ¹⁸ No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.

²⁶ For as the Father hath life in himself, so hath he given to the Son also to have life in himself,

⁵⁸ Jesus said to them, Verily, verily I say unto you, before Abraham was, I am.

³⁵ And he that saw, hath testified it, and his testimony is true: and he knoweth that he saith true, that ye may believe.

²⁷ Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands, and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side, and be not faithless, but believing.

³ To whom also he presented himself alive after his passion, by many infallible proofs, being seen by them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God.

²⁰ For we cannot but speak the things, which we have seen and heard.

¹⁶ For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eye-witnesses of his majesty. ¹⁷ For he received honour and glory from God the Father, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I delight. ¹⁸ And we being with him in the holy mountain, heard this voice coming from heaven:

² For the life was manifested, and we have seen, and testify and declare to you the eternal life which was with the Father, and was manifested to us: ³ That which we have seen and heard declare we to you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son, Jesus Christ:

¹³ I write to you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I write to you, young men, because ye have overcome the wicked one. I write to you, little children, because ye have known the Father. ¹⁴ I have written to you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I have written to you young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one.

¹⁴ And we have seen and testify, that the Father sent his Son to be the Saviour of the world.

⁷ For there are three that testify on earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood, and these three agree in one.

⁸ Yea. Amen. I am the Alpha and the Omega, saith the Lord God, who is, and who was, and who cometh, the Almighty.

¹¹ and heard behind me a great voice as of a trumpet, Saying, what thou seest, write in a book and send to the seven churches, to Ephesus, and to Smyrna, and to Pergamos, and to Thyatira, and to Sardis, and to Philadelphia, and to Laodicea.

¹⁷ And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead: and he laid his right-hand upon me, saying, Fear not, I am the First and the Last, ¹⁸ And he that liveth and was dead, and behold I am alive for evermore, and have the keys of death and of Hades.

⁸ And to the angel of the church of Smyrna write, These things saith the First and the Last, who was dead and is alive.

¹³ And he is clothed in a vesture dipt in blood, and his name is called, The Word of God.
