And he said: "I love you, O LORD, my strength." ² the LORD is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge; my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower. ³ I call on the LORD, who is worthy to be praised; and I am saved from my enemies. ⁴ The ropes of death encircled me, and streams of ruin overwhelmed me. ⁵ The cords of the grave surrounded me. The snares of death confronted me. ⁶ (18:7) In my distress I called upon the LORD, and cried unto my God; out of His temple He heard my voice, and my cry came before Him unto His ears. ⁷ Then the earth shook and quaked, and the foundations of the mountains trembled, and they staggered because he was angry. ⁸ Smoke went up from his nostrils. A raging fire came out of his mouth. Glowing coals were kindled by it. ⁹ He lowered the heavens and came down; and darkness was under his feet. ¹⁰ He rode upon a cherub and flew; he soared upon the wings of the wind. ¹¹ But he made darkness his covering, His tent around him was dark water in clouds of air. ¹² Out of the brightness in front of him, those rain clouds passed by with hailstones and lightning. ¹³ Then the Lord thundered from heaven, the Most High uttered his voice: ¹⁴ He sent out his arrows, and scattered them; and he multiplied lightnings, and routed them. ¹⁵ Then the channels of the sea were seen, and the foundations of the world were uncovered at your rebuke, O LORD, at the blast of the breath of your nostrils. ¹⁶ He reached down from high above and took hold of me. He pulled me out of the raging water. ¹⁷ He rescued me from my strong enemy and from those who hated me, because they were too strong for me. ¹⁸ They confronted me on the day of disaster, but the LORD was my support. ¹⁹ So he brought me out to a spacious place. He delivered me because he delighted in me. ²⁰ the LORD has rewarded me according to my righteousness; According to the cleanness of my hands he has repaid me. ²¹ For I have kept the ways of the LORD, And I have not been wicked by turning from my Elohim." ²² All his judgments are in front of me and I have not turned away from his laws. ²³ and I was blameless before him, and I kept myself from my guilt. ²⁴ Therefore the LORD has rewarded me according to my righteousness, according to the cleanness of my hands in his eyesight. ²⁵ With the faithful you show yourself faithful. With the blameless man you show yourself blameless. ²⁶ To the pure you show yourself pure. but to the wicked you show yourself shrewd. ²⁷ You save humble people, but you humiliate the proud. ²⁸ O LORD, you light my lamp. My God turns my darkness into light. ²⁹ For with you I can charge a troop, and with my God I can scale a wall. ³⁰ As for God, his way is perfect. The word of the LORD is pure. He is a shield to all those who take refuge in him. ³¹ For who is God besides the LORD? Or who is a Rock except our God? ³² It is God who girds me with strength and makes my way perfect. ³³ He makes my feet like the feet of female-deers and sets me upon my high places. ³⁴ He trains my hands for war, so that my arms can bend a bow of bronze. ³⁵ You have also given me the shield of your salvation. Your right hand sustains me. Your gentleness has made me great. ³⁶ You widened my steps beneath me, So that my limbs have not tottered." ³⁷ I chased my enemies and overtook them; I did not turn back until they were finished off. ³⁸ I crushed them, and they were not able to rise: they fell under my feet. ³⁹ You armed me with strength for battle. You made my opponents bow at my feet. ⁴⁰ You made my enemies turn their backs to me. I destroyed those who hated me. ⁴¹ They cried, but there was none to save; even to the LORD, but he did not answer them. ⁴² And I ground them like dust in the wind, I emptied them out like mud of the streets. ⁴³ You have delivered me from the strifes of the people. You have made me the head of the nations. A people whom I have not known will serve me. ⁴⁴ As soon as they hear of me, they will obey me. Foreigners will cringe in front of me. ⁴⁵ Foreigners will wilt away; they will come trembling out of their stronghold. ⁴⁶ the LORD lives! Blessed be my rock. Exalted be the God of my salvation, ⁴⁷ He is the God who avenges me, and speaks to people under me. ⁴⁸ He saves me from my enemies. You lift me up above my opponents. You rescue me from violent people. ⁴⁹ Therefore I will praise you, LORD, among the nations, and will sing praises to your name. ⁵⁰ He gives great victories to his king. He shows mercy to his anointed, to David, and to his descendants forever.

He has become my salvation. Who is like you, majestic in holiness, awesome in splendor, and working wonders! ¹² You stretched out your right hand, and the earth swallowed them. ¹³ In your loyal love you led the people whom you redeemed; in your strength you guided them to the abode of your holiness. ¹⁴ The nations heard, and were afraid. The torrents of destruction had overwhelmed me. ⁶ the cords of Sheol are all around me, the snares of death confronted me ⁷ In my distress I called upon the LORD, yea, I called unto my God; and out of His temple He heard my voice, and my cry did enter into His ears. ⁸ And the earth trembled and quoke, and the foundations of heaven moved and shook, because he was angry. ⁹ Smoke from his nostrils ascend and fire from his mouth consumes: coals burn away by it. ¹⁰ He bowed the heavens, and came down: and darkness was under his feet. ¹¹ He rode on a cherub and flew, soaring on the wings of the wind! ¹² And He made darkness coverings around Him, dark waters, thick clouds of the skies. ¹³ From the brightness of his presence, coals of fire were kindled. ¹⁴ the LORD thundered from heaven, the Most High uttered His voice. ¹⁵ "You shot arrows and scattered them. You flashed bolts of lightning and confused them. ¹⁶ The currents of the sea were revealed and the foundations of the world were exposed at the rebuke of the LORD and at the blazing breath from his nostrils! ¹⁷ He sent from on high and took me; He drew me out of many waters: ¹⁸ he rescues me from my strong enemy - from them who hate me - for they are too strong for me. ¹⁹ They approached me on the day of my disaster, but the LORD was my support. ²⁰ He brought me out to a spacious place. And with the crooked you show yourself tortuous. ²⁸ You save the nation who is humble but your eyes watch the proud, to bring them down. ²⁹ For you are my lamp, LORD, the LORD who illuminates my darkness. ³⁰ For by you, I run against a troop. By my God, I leap over a wall. ³¹ As for God, his way is perfect. The word of the LORD is pure. He is a shield to all those who take refuge in him. ³² For who is God, except the LORD? A people I had not known served me. ⁴⁵ Strangers come cringing unto me: At the hearing of the ear, they obey me. ⁴⁶ Foreigners lost their courage, coming trembling from their strongholds. ⁴⁷ The LORD lives. Blessed be my rock. Exalted be God, the rock of my salvation, ⁴⁸ It is God who avenges me and who brings down the peoples under me, ⁴⁹ »You protect me from violent enemies. You made me greater than all of them. ⁵⁰ Therefore I will praise you, LORD, among the nations, and will sing praises to your name. ⁵¹ He gives great deliverance to his king, and shows loving kindness to his anointed, to David and to his descendants, until forever."

³² It is God who girds me with strength and makes my way perfect.

⁷ The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and I received help. My heart exalts, and I give thanks to him with my song. ⁸ The LORD is the strength of his people. He is a stronghold of salvation to his anointed.

¹⁹ A righteous person will have many troubles, but the LORD will deliver him from them all.

¹ For the Chief Musician. By David, the servant of the LORD. An oracle is within my heart about the disobedience of the wicked: There is no fear of God before his eyes.

¹ By David. Blessed is the LORD my rock, who is teaching My hands for war, my fingers for battle. ² my loyal love and my fortress, my stronghold and my deliverer, my shield, and one in whom I take refuge, the one who subdues peoples under me.

¹ In that day you will say: "I will praise you, O LORD. Although you were angry with me, your anger has turned away and you have comforted me. ² "Truly God is my salvation! I will trust and not be afraid. the LORD… the LORD is my strength and my song! He has become my salvation." ³ With joy (gladness) you will draw water from the wells of salvation. ⁴ In that day you will say: "Give thanks to the LORD, call on his name; make known among the nations what he has done, and proclaim that his name is exalted. ⁵ "Sing to the LORD, for he has done glorious things. ¹ ([Psalm of David]) O LORD, I call to you. O my rock, do not turn a deaf ear to me. If you remain silent, I will be like those who go down to the pit (grave).

¹¹ Don't kill them! Otherwise, my people may forget. By your power make them stumble around; bring them down low, Lord, our Shield.

² He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress-- I will never be greatly shaken.

⁷ My salvation and my glory depend on God. God is the rock of my strength, my refuge.

¹⁰ I will cut off all the horns of the wicked, but the horns of the righteous shall be lifted up.

² I will say of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in whom I trust."

⁴ He will cover you with his feathers. Under his wings you will take refuge. His faithfulness is your shield and rampart.

¹⁷ There I will cause a horn to grow for David; I will set a lamp for my anointed one.

² my loyal love and my fortress, my stronghold and my deliverer, my shield, and one in whom I take refuge, the one who subdues peoples under me.

⁷ He lays up sound wisdom for the upright. He is a shield to those who walk in integrity,

¹⁰ The name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous run into it and are safe.

² And a man shall be as a hiding-place from the wind, and a covert from the storm; as brooks of water in a dry place, as the shadow of a great rock in a thirsty land.

¹⁹ O LORD, my strength and my stronghold and my refuge in the day of affliction, to you the nations will come from the ends of the earth and will say, Our fathers have inherited nothing but lies, even vanity and things in which there is no profit.

¹³ And again, "I will put my trust in him." And again, "Here am I, and the children God has given me."

⁴ I call on the LORD, who is worthy to be praised; So shall I be saved from my enemies.

⁵ Then the Levites, Jeshua, Kadmiel, Bani, Hashabneiah, Sherebiah, Hodiah, Shebaniah and Pethahiah said, Stand up and bless the LORD your God from everlasting to everlasting! Blessed be Your glorious name, which is exalted above all blessing and praise!

² Listen to the sound of my cry for help, my King and my God, for to you I pray. ³ Yahweh, in the morning you will hear my voice. In the morning I will lay my requests before you, and will watch expectantly.

⁸ ¶ Wait in him at all times; ye peoples, pour out your heart before him; God is our refuge. Selah.

¹ For the music director. A psalm of David. A song. Praise awaits you, O God, in Zion, and to you the vow shall be fulfilled. ² You who hear prayer, to you all men will come.

⁴ You are enveloped by light; more majestic than mountains filled with game.

¹⁵ He will call upon me and I will answer him. I will be with him in trouble. I will deliver him and honor him.

⁴ For great is the LORD, and highly to be praised: he is to be feared above all gods

³ Great is the LORD, and very worthy of praise, and his greatness is unsearchable.

⁷¹ salvation from our enemies and from the hand of all who hate us,

²¹ And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’

³¹ What then shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? ³² He who did not spare His own Son but gave Him up for us all, how will He not also, along with Him, freely give us all things? ³³ Who will bring any charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. ³⁴ Who is there to condemn us? For Christ Jesus, who died, and more than that was raised to life, is at the right hand of God—and He is interceding for us. ³⁵ Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or distress or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? ³⁶ As it is written: “For Your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.” ³⁷ No, in all these things, we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. ³⁸ For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor principalities, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, ³⁹ neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

⁶ Be anxious for nothing, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. ⁷ And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

¹¹ You are worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for you have created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being.

¹² In a loud voice they said: “Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power and riches and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and blessing!” ¹³ And I heard every creature in heaven, and on earth, and under the earth, and in the sea, and all that is in them, saying: “To Him who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb, be praise and honor and glory and power forever and ever.” ¹⁴ The four living creatures said, "Amen," and the elders fell down and worshiped.

¹² Many bulls have surrounded me, strong bulls of Bashan have encircled me. ¹³ they gape on me with their mouths as a tearing and a roaring lion.

¹⁶ For dogs have surrounded me; a gang of evil-doers has encircled me. They pierced my hands and my feet.

³ The cords of death compassed me, and the pains of Sheol gat hold upon me: I found trouble and sorrow

⁴ Then the flood waters would have overwhelmed us, the torrent would have flooded over us;

⁸ and they will be dismayed. Pangs and labor pains will seize them; they will tremble like a woman giving birth. They will stare at one another, their faces flushing.

³ He was despised, and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and as one from whom men hide their face he was despised, and we esteemed him not ⁴ He took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows. We considered him stricken by God, smitten by him, and afflicted.

² and said, "I called from my distress to the LORD, and he answered me; from the belly of Sheol I cried for help— you heard my voice. ³ For You cast me into the deep, into the heart of the seas, and the current surrounded me; all Your breakers and Your waves passed over me. ⁴ I said, 'I have been banished from your sight; yet I will look again toward your holy temple.' ⁵ The waters encompassed me up to my neck; the deep surrounded me; seaweed was wrapped around my head. ⁶ (2:7) To the bottoms of the mountains did I go down; the earth closed her bars about me for ever: when thou broughtest up my life from the pit, O Lord my God! ⁷ When my life was ebbing away from me, I remembered the LORD, and my prayer came to you, to your holy temple.

³⁸ Then He said to them, “My soul is consumed with sorrow to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch with Me.” ³⁹ Going a little farther, He fell facedown and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me. Yet not as I will, but as You will.”

⁴⁷ While Jesus was still speaking, Judas, one of the Twelve, arrived, accompanied by a large crowd armed with swords and clubs, sent from the chief priests and elders of the people.

⁵⁵ At that hour Jesus said to the crowds, "Have you come out as against a robber, with swords and clubs to capture me? Every day I sat in the temple teaching, and you did not seize me.

²⁴ When Pilate saw that he was accomplishing nothing, but that instead a riot was breaking out, he took water and washed his hands before the crowd. “I am innocent of this man’s blood,” he said. “You shall bear the responsibility.” ²⁵ All the people answered, "May his blood be on us, and on our children."

³⁹ And those who passed by hurled insults at him, wagging their heads ⁴⁰ and saying, “You who are going to destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days, save Yourself! If You are the Son of God, come down from the cross!” ⁴¹ In the same way the Chief Priests, with the Teaches of the Law and Councillors, said in mockery: ⁴² "He saved others," they said, "but he cannot save himself! He the 'king of Israel'! Let him come down now from the cross; then we will believe in him! ⁴³ He trusts in God. Let God deliver him now, if he wants him; for he said, 'I am the Son of God.'" ⁴⁴ In the same way even the robbers who were crucified with him insulted him.

³³ He took Peter, James, and John along with him, and he began to feel distressed and troubled. ³⁴ And He said to them: “My soul is overwhelmed with grief, to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch.”

³⁰ And the whole city was moved, and the people ran together; and laying hold on Paul, they dragged him out of the temple: and immediately the gates were shut.

⁹ Indeed, we felt that we had received the sentence of death. But this happened that we might not rely on ourselves but on God, who raises the dead.

¹³ For great is your mercy toward me: and you have delivered my soul from the depths of sheol.

³ For my soul is full of troubles, and my life draws near the grave. ⁴ I am counted among those who go down into the pit. I am like a man who has no help, ⁵ set apart among the dead, like the slain who lie in the grave, whom you remember no more. They are cut off from your hand. ⁶ You have laid me in the lowest pit, in the darkest depths. ⁷ Your wrath lies heavily upon me; You have afflicted me with all Your waves. Selah. ⁸ You have taken my friends from me. You have made me an abomination to them. I am confined, and I can’t escape.

¹⁵ Ever since I was young, I have been suffering and near death. I have endured your terrors, and now I am in despair. ¹⁶ Your burning anger has swept over me. Your terrors have destroyed me. ¹⁷ They came around me like water all day long. They completely engulfed me.

¹² For man does not know his time. Just as fish are caught in a cruel net and like birds who are seized in a snare, so also humans are ensnared at a cruel time when it falls suddenly upon them.

²⁴ But God raised Him from the dead, releasing Him from the agony of death, because it was impossible for Him to be held in its clutches.

²³ And then during those many days, the king of Egypt died, and the Israelites groaned because of the work, and they cried out, and their cry for help because of the work went up to God.

⁷ In my distress I called upon the LORD, yea, I called unto my God; and out of His temple He heard my voice, and my cry did enter into His ears.

²⁷ But will God indeed dwell on the earth? Behold, heaven and the heaven of heavens cannot contain you. How much less this house that I have built! ²⁸ Pay attention to the prayer of your servant and to his request, LORD my God, and listen to the cry and prayer that your servant is praying in your presence today. ²⁹ that your eyes be open toward this house night and day - toward the place of which you say, My name is there: to hearken to the prayer your servant prays toward this place: ³⁰ Listen to the supplication of your servant, and of your people Israel, when they pray toward this place. Yes, hear in heaven, your dwelling place; and when you hear, forgive.

²⁷ And the priests and the Levites arose and blessed the people, and their voice was heard, and their prayer went up unto his holy dwelling place heaven.

⁷ But I, in the abundance of Your grace, I will come into Your house; I will worship in Your fear toward Your holy temple.

⁴ the LORD is in his holy temple. the LORD is on his throne in heaven. His eyes observe. His eyes examine the children of men.

³ I call on the LORD, who is worthy to be praised; and I am saved from my enemies. ⁴ The ropes of death encircled me, and streams of ruin overwhelmed me.

⁴ One thing have I asked of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to inquire in his temple ⁵ Because in the day of trouble he will hide me in his shelter. He will hide me in the covering of his tabernacle He will lift me up upon a rock.

¹⁵ The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous, and his ears are open to their cry.

¹ A song of ascents. Out of the depths I call to you, O LORD. ² Lord, hear my voice. Let your ears be attentive to the voice of my petitions.

²⁰ But the LORD is in his holy temple. Let all the earth be silent before him."

³⁶ “Abba, Father,” He said, “all things are possible for You. Take this cup from Me. Yet not what I will, but what You will.”

⁵ So Peter was kept in prison, but the church was fervently praying to God for him.

¹⁹ Then God's temple in heaven was opened, and within his temple was seen the ark of his covenant; and there were flashes of lightning, voices, peals of thunder, an earthquake and a great hailstorm.

²² For a fire has been kindled in My anger, and it burns to the lowest Sheol, and consumes the earth and its produce; and sets on fire the foundations of the mountains.

⁴ the LORD, when you went down from Seir, when you marched from the region of Edom, the earth trembled, the heavens poured down, the clouds poured down water.

² Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change and though the mountains slip into the heart of the sea.

⁷ God, when you went out before your people, when you marched through the wilderness... Selah. ⁸ The earth shook, and the heavens dropped before God, this Sinai before God, the God of Israel.

⁴ The mountains skipped like rams, the hills like lambs. ⁵ What was it, you sea, that you fled? You Jordan, that you turned back? ⁶ O mountains, that you skipped like rams? O hills, like lambs? ⁷ Tremble, you earth, at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the God of Jacob,

²⁴ I looked on the mountains, and, lo, they quaked; and all the hills were shaken.

¹⁹ "'In my zeal and in my blazing wrath I proclaim that on that day there will surely be a great earthquake in the land of Israel. ²⁰ "'The fish of the sea, the birds of the sky, the beasts of the field, all the creeping things that creep on the earth, and all the people who are on the face of the earth will shake at my presence! The mountains will be thrown down! The steep pathways will collapse and every wall will fall to the ground.'

⁶ He stood, and shook the earth. He looked, and made the nations tremble. The ancient mountains crumbled. The age-old hills collapsed. His ways are eternal.

¹⁰ The mountains saw you, and were afraid. The storm of waters passed by. The deep roared and lifted up its hands on high.

⁴ His feet will stand in that day on the Mount of Olives, east of Jerusalem. Then the Mount of Olives will be split in two from east to west, forming a very large valley, with half of the mountain moving toward the north and half toward the south.

² And there was a great earthquake. For an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and went and rolled the stone back and sat upon it.

³¹ After they had prayed, their meeting place was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly.

²⁵ About midnight, Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them. ²⁶ Suddenly a strong earthquake shook the foundations of the prison. At once all the doors flew open, and everyone’s chains came loose.

² If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have absolute faith so as to move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.

²⁸ He looked toward Sodom and Gomorrah and all the land in the Plain. He saw smoke rising from the land like the thick smoke of a furnace.

² And fire went out from before the LORD and consumed them; and they died before the LORD.

¹ Now the people complained about hunger speaking evil in the ears of the LORD, so that when the LORD heard it, his anger flared and the fire of the LORD burned against them and even consumed the outskirts of the camp.

³⁵ And fire came forth from the LORD and consumed the two hundred and fifty men that offered the incense.

²⁰ the LORD will never be willing to forgive him, but rather the anger of the LORD and / His jealousy will burn against that man. Every curse which is written in this book will rest on him. the LORD will blot out his name from under heaven.

²³ [that] the whole land of it is brimstone, and salt, [and] a burning, [that] it is not sown, nor bears, nor any grass grows in it, like the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboiim, which LORD overthrew in his anger, and i ²⁴ "All the nations will say: Why has the LORD done thus to this land? Why this great outburst of anger?'

⁶ On the wicked he will rain blazing coals; fire, sulfur, and scorching wind shall be the portion of their cup.

⁹ When you appear, you will set them ablaze like a fire furnace. In his wrath, the LORD will consume them, and the fire will devour them.

³ Our God comes, and does not keep silent. A fire devours before him. It is very stormy around him.

¹ A maskil of Asaph. Why, O God, have you rejected us forever? Why does your anger smoke against the sheep of your pasture?

³² He looks at the earth, and it trembles. He touches the mountains, and they smoke.

⁵ Part your heavens, LORD, and come down. Touch the mountains, and they will smoke. ⁶ Send forth lightning and scatter the enemy, shoot your arrows and confuse them.

¹⁰ A stream of fire went out and came out from before Him. A thousand thousands served Him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before Him. The judgment was set, and the books were opened.

¹¹ "I overthrew your cities, as God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah. You've become like a burning ember, snatched from the fire, but you have not returned to me," declares the LORD.

⁵ The mountains quake before him, and the hills melt away. The earth trembles at his presence, yes, the world, and all who dwell in it. ⁶ His indignation—who can stand before it? Who can endure his fierce anger? His wrath is poured out like fire; rocks are shattered before him.

⁵ If anyone wants to harm them, fire proceeds from their mouths and devours their enemies. In this way, anyone who wants to harm them must be killed.

²² "These commands the LORD declared in a loud voice to your entire assembly on the mountain from out of the fire and dark clouds, and nothing more was added. He inscribed them on two tablets of stones and gave them to me. ²³ And after hearing the voice which came out of the dark while the mountain was burning with fire, all the heads of your tribes and your chiefs came to me,

²⁶ There is none like the God of Jeshurun, who rides on the heaven to your help, and in His majesty on the clouds.

¹⁰ He bowed the heavens, and came down: and darkness was under his feet.

⁴ Sing to God, sing praises to his name: extol him who rides upon the heavens by his name, the LORD, and rejoice before him.

⁵ Part your heavens, LORD, and come down. Touch the mountains, and they will smoke. ⁶ Send forth lightning and scatter the enemy, shoot your arrows and confuse them. ⁷ Stretch out your hands from on high; Rescue me and deliver me from many waters, from the hand of foreigners, ⁸ Their mouths speak lies, and their right hand deceives, ⁹ I will sing a new song to you, God. On a ten-stringed lyre, I will sing praises to you. ¹⁰ You who gives salvation to kings, who delivers His servant David from the evil sword. ¹¹ Rescue me and deliver me from the control of foreigners, whose mouths speak lies, and whose right hand deceives. ¹² Then our sons will be like well-nurtured plants, our daughters like pillars carved to adorn a palace. ¹³ Our barns will be full, filled with all kinds of provision; our sheep will bring forth thousands and ten thousands in our fields. ¹⁴ Our oxen will pull heavy loads, there will be no breaking in and no going away, and no crying in our streets. ¹⁵ Blessed are the people who have it thus. Blessed are the people whose God is the LORD.

⁶ "Lift up your eyes to the heavens. Look at the earth below. The heavens will vanish like smoke and the earth will wear out like a garment. Its inhabitants die like flies (gnats). But my salvation will last forever! My righteousness will never fail.

¹⁶ the LORD will roar from Zion, and thunder from Jerusalem; the heavens and the earth will shake, but the LORD will be a refuge for His people, and a stronghold to the children of Israel.

²⁹ "Immediately after the distress of those days the sun will be darkened and the moon will not give her light, and the stars will fall from heaven and the powers of heaven will be shaken.

³³ And when the sixth hour came, darkness came over the whole land until the ninth hour.

⁷ Jesus replied, “You do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand.”

²⁶ At that time his voice shook the earth, but now he has promised, "Once more I will shake not only the earth but also heaven."

¹⁰ But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar, the elements will be dissolved in the fire, and the earth and its works will not be found.

¹¹ Then I saw a great white throne, and him who was seated on it. 'The earth and the heavens fled from his presence; no place was left for them.'

¹¹ He rode on a cherub and flew, soaring on the wings of the wind! ¹² And He made darkness coverings around Him, dark waters, thick clouds of the skies.

¹ Hear us, Shepherd of Israel, you who lead Joseph like a flock, you who sit above the cherubim, shine forth.

¹ the LORD reigns! Let the nations tremble. He sits enthroned between the cherubim: let the earth be moved.

³ He lays the beams of his chambers in the waters. He makes the clouds his chariot. He walks on the wings of the wind.

⁵ And from its midst was the likeness of four living creatures, and this was their appearance: a human form, ⁶ Each of them had four faces and four wings. ⁷ Their legs were straight. Their feet were like those of calves and they glittered like polished copper. ⁸ They had human hands under their wings on each of their four sides. All four of them had faces and wings. ⁹ Their wings touched each other. The creatures went straight ahead and they did not turn as they moved. ¹⁰ Their faces looked like this: From the front, each creature had the face of a human. From the right side, each one had the face of a lion. From the left, each one had the face of a bull. And from the back, each one had the face of an eagle. ¹¹ So were their faces; their wings were spread out upward; each had two touching one another and two covering their bodies. ¹² Each one went straight forward: where the spirit would go, they went; they didn't turn when they went. ¹³ The living creatures looked like burning coals and torches. Fire moved back and forth between the living creatures. The fire was bright and lightning came out of the fire. ¹⁴ The living creatures ran back and forth like lightning.

²⁰ This was the living creature that I saw under the God of Israel at the Kebar River, and I knew that they were cherubim. ²¹ Each had four faces and four wings, and under their wings were what looked like human hands. ²² Their faces looked exactly like the faces that I saw by the Chebar River. Each one went straight ahead.

¹¹ And you came near and stood at the foot of the mountain; and the mountain burned with fire unto the midst of heaven, with darkness, clouds, and thick darkness.

⁵ Because in the day of trouble he will hide me in his shelter. He will hide me in the covering of his tabernacle He will lift me up upon a rock.

⁷ In a time of need you called out and I delivered you; I answered you from the dark thundercloud; I tested you at the waters of Meribah. [Interlude]

¹ He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.

² Cloud and thick darkness are surrounding him; righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne.

² A day of darkness and gloom, a day of cloud and thick darkness, like the dawn spreads on the mountains, a great and strong army! There has been nothing like it from old, and after it nothing will be again for generations to come.

²³ When Moses stretched out his staff toward heaven, the LORD sent thunder and hail, and lightning struck the earth. The LORD rained hail on the land of Egypt. ²⁴ It hailed, and lightning flashed while it hailed. This was the worst storm in all the land of Egypt since it had become a nation.

¹¹ While they were fleeing in front of Israel and descending the slope of Beth-horon, the LORD rained down huge hailstones on them as far as Azekah, and they died. More died because of the hailstones than were killed by the Israelites in battle.

¹³ From the brightness of his presence, coals of fire were kindled. ¹⁴ the LORD thundered from heaven, the Most High uttered His voice. ¹⁵ "You shot arrows and scattered them. You flashed bolts of lightning and confused them.

³ A fire goes before him, and burns up his adversaries on every side. ⁴ His lightning lights up the world. The earth sees, and trembles.

² He covers himself with light as with a garment. He stretches out the heavens like a curtain.

⁴ His splendor is like the sunrise. Rays shine from his hand, where his power is hidden. ⁵ Plague went before him, and pestilence followed his feet.

² There He was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and His clothes became as white as the light.

⁵ While Peter was still speaking, a bright cloud enveloped them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Listen to Him!”

²¹ Huge hailstones, about a hundred pounds each, fell from heaven upon men. And men cursed God for the plague of hail, because the plague was so terrible.

¹⁸ The people heard the thunder and the trumpet blast. They saw the lightning and the smoking mountain. They trembled with fear and stood at a distance.

²⁴ While they are wasting by famine, and voracious birds; The burning carbuncle also shall be incurable; I will send against them the teeth of wild beasts, With the venom of serpents, trailing on the ground.

¹⁰ While Samuel was sacrificing the burnt offering, the Philistines approached to attack Israel. But that day the LORD thundered against the Philistines and threw them into panic, and they were defeated before Israel.

⁹ "Do you have an arm (power) like God's? Can your voice thunder like his?

³ The voice of the LORD is over the waters; the God of glory thunders. the LORD is over many waters. ⁴ The voice of the LORD is powerful; the voice of the LORD is majestic.

⁴⁸ He gave up their cattle to the hail, and their flocks to bolts of fire.

⁷ At your rebuke they fled; at the sound of your thunder they ran off.

³ What shall be given to you, and what more shall be done to you, deceitful tongue? ⁴ The arrows of the hero sharpened, with burning coals of broom.

¹⁰ Let burning coals fall upon them! Let them be cast into fire, into miry pits, no more to rise.

⁵ The sound of the wings of the cherubim was heard even to the outer court, as the voice of God Almighty when he speaks.

⁵ Plague went before him, and pestilence followed his feet.

²⁹ The crowd that stood by and heard it said that it had thundered. Others said an angel had spoken to him.

⁵ Out from the throne came flashes of lightning, rumblings, and peals of thunder. In front of the throne seven blazing lamps were burning; they are the seven spirits of God.

⁵ Then the angel took the censer, filled it with fire from the altar, and hurled it to the earth; and there were rolls of thunder, and rumblings, and flashes of lightning, and an earthquake.

⁶ Then I heard what sounded like the voice of a great multitude, like the sound of many waters and like the sound of mighty peals of thunder, crying, "Hallelujah! For the Lord our God the Almighty reigns.

⁸ ?God brought him out of Egypt; he hath as it were the strength of a buffalo. He shall consume the nations his enemies, and break their bones, and with his arrows shall smite [them] in pieces.

²³ I will heap evils upon them, and will spend my arrows among them.

⁴² I will make my arrows drunk with blood, and my sword shall devour flesh, of the blood of the slain and of the captivity, of the bare head of the enemies.

¹⁰ the LORD threw them into confusion before Israel. They were killed in a great battle at Gibeon. They were chased along the road that goes up to Beth-horon. They were slaughtered all the way to Azekah, and Makkedah.

⁴ "The Almighty's arrows are in me. My spirit drinks in their poison. God's terrors set themselves against me.

³⁵ "Do you send the lightning bolts on their way? Do they report to you: Here we are?

⁹ "Do you have an arm (power) like God's? Can your voice thunder like his? ¹⁰ "Then adorn yourself with glory and splendor. Clothe yourself in honor and majesty. ¹¹ "Unleash the fury of your wrath, look at every proud man and bring him low! ¹² "Look at every proud man and humble him, crush the wicked where they stand.

¹² For you will make them turn their back, when you aim drawn bows at their face.

¹⁷ The clouds poured out water. The skies resounded with thunder. Your arrows also flashed around.

⁶ Send forth lightning and scatter the enemy, shoot your arrows and confuse them.

³⁰ And the LORD shall make the majesty of His voice heard; and He shows His arm coming down with raging anger and flame of consuming fire, cloudburst and storm, and hailstones.

¹¹ The sun and moon stood still in their dwelling. At the light of Your arrows they go, at the shining of Your gleaming spear.

¹⁴ Then the LORD will appear over them, and his arrow will go forth like lightning; and my Sovereign LORD will blow the trumpet, and he shall go out in the storm winds of the south. ¹⁵ The LORD of hosts will defend them; and they will destroy and overcome with sling stones; and they will drink, and roar as through wine; and they will be filled like bowls, like the corners of the altar.

⁸ By the breath of your nostrils the waters were piled up, the flowing waters stood up like a hill, the deep waters congealed in the heart of the sea.

¹³ "As soon as the soles of the feet of the priests that bear the Ark of the LORD, the Lord of all the earth, set foot in the Jordan the waters of Jordan shall be cut off and they shall stand in a heap." ¹⁴ When the people set out from their camp to cross the jordan, and the priests bearing the ark of the covenant before the people and ¹⁵ As they carried the ark into the Jordan and the feet of the priests dipped into the water, for Jordan is at food stage at the time of harvest. ¹⁶ the waters flowing down from above stood still; they stood up in one heap very far from Adam, the city that is beside Zarethan, while the waters flowing down to the sea of the Arabah, the Salt Sea, were completely cut off; and the people crossed over opposite Jericho.

¹⁶ The currents of the sea were revealed and the foundations of the world were exposed at the rebuke of the LORD and at the blazing breath from his nostrils!

⁷ "I am going to put a spirit in him so that he will hear a rumor and return to his own country. I will have him assassinated in his own country."’"

⁹ By the breath of God they perish, and by the blast of his anger they are consumed.

⁴ "Where were you when I laid the earth's foundation? Tell me, if you understand. ⁵ "Who determined its dimensions? Surely you know! Who stretched a measuring line across it? ⁶ "On what were its foundations set and who laid its cornerstone?

¹⁵ You opened up spring and stream. You dried up mighty rivers.

⁶ At your rebuke, O God of Jacob, both rider and horse slumber.

⁵ He laid the earth on its foundations; it shall not be shaken forever.

⁹ He rebuked the Red Sea also, and it was dried up; so he led them through the depths, as through a desert.

⁴ but with righteousness he will judge the poor, and decide with equity for the humble of the earth. He will strike the earth with the rod of his mouth; and with the breath of his lips he will kill the wicked.

²⁷ Behold, the name of the LORD comes from far, burning with His anger, and uplifting of smoke; His lips are full of fury, and His tongue like a devouring fire. ²⁸ His breath is like an overflowing stream. It raises neck high and sifts the nations with a sieve of destruction. It places a bit in the mouths of the people to lead them astray.

³³ For a place of fire has long been ready; yes, it has been made ready for the king; he has made it deep and wide: it is massed with fire and much wood; the breath of the Lord, like a stream of fire, puts a light to it.

³⁷ Thus says the LORD, "If the heavens above can be measured, and the foundations of the earth below can be explored, also I will reject all the offspring of Israel because of all that they have done," declares the LORD.

⁶ (2:7) To the bottoms of the mountains did I go down; the earth closed her bars about me for ever: when thou broughtest up my life from the pit, O Lord my God!

² Hear, you mountains, the LORD's controversy, and you enduring foundations of the earth; for the LORD has a controversy with his people, and he will contend with Israel.

¹⁰ The child grew, and she brought him to Pharaoh's daughter, and he became her son. She named him Moses, and said, "Because I drew him out of the water."

¹⁷ He sent from on high and took me; He drew me out of many waters:

⁴³ You have delivered me from the strifes of the people. You have made me the head of the nations. A people whom I have not known will serve me.

⁶ For this, let everyone who is godly pray to you in a time when you may be found. Surely when the great waters overflow, they shall not reach to him.

¹ To the chief Musician. Of David. A Psalm. I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry. ² He brought me up also out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay. He set my feet on a rock, and gave me a firm place to stand. ³ He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God. Many will see, respect and trust in the LORD.

³ He will send from heaven and save me; he will reproach the one who tramples me. Selah God will send his loyal love and his faithfulness.

⁷ Stretch out your hands from on high; Rescue me and deliver me from many waters, from the hand of foreigners,

⁵ The waters encompassed me up to my neck; the deep surrounded me; seaweed was wrapped around my head. ⁶ (2:7) To the bottoms of the mountains did I go down; the earth closed her bars about me for ever: when thou broughtest up my life from the pit, O Lord my God!

¹⁵ He said to me, "The waters which you saw, where the prostitute sits, are peoples, multitudes, nations, and languages.

¹ Then David spoke to the LORD the words of this song, on the day the LORD delivered him from the hand of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul.

¹⁸ he rescues me from my strong enemy - from them who hate me - for they are too strong for me.

⁹ When in his wrath he threw me down and gnashed his teeth at me; the darts of his executioners fell upon me.

¹³ Have mercy on me, Yahweh. See my affliction by those who hate me, and lift me up from the gates of death,

⁴⁰ You made my enemies turn their backs to me. I destroyed those who hated me. ⁴¹ They cried, but there was none to save; even to the LORD, but he did not answer them.

¹⁹ See how my enemies have increased in number, how they have hated me with vicious hatred!

¹⁰ All my bones shall say, "LORD, who is like you, who delivers the poor from him who is too strong for him; yes, the poor and the needy from him who robs him?"

¹⁹ But my enemies are vigorous and many. Those who hate me without reason are numerous.

⁴ Those who hate me without cause are more than the hairs of my head. My persecutors are mighty, and they want to destroy me. Must I be forced to return what I did not steal? ⁵ God, you know my sins, and my guilt is not hidden from you. ⁶ Let those who wait for you not be put to shame because of me, O Sovereign LORD Almighty. Let those who seek you not be disgraced because of me, O God of Israel. ⁷ For I have suffered reproach for Your sake; shame has covered my face. ⁸ I am a stranger to my brothers, a foreigner to my mother's sons. ⁹ Zeal for your house consumes me, and the mockeries of those who insult you fall on me. ¹⁰ I weep and fast, and I am mocked for it. ¹¹ When I put on the clothing of grief, they said evil of me. ¹² Those who sit at the gate talk of me and I am the song of the drunkards. ¹³ But as for me, my prayer is to You, O LORD, at a time of favor, O God! in the plentitude of Your mercy answer me, in the truth of Your salvation. ¹⁴ Rescue me from the mud and do not let me sink. Rescue me from those who hate me, and from the deep waters.

⁷ the LORD is for me as my helper, and so I will look in triumph on those who hate me.

⁶ Listen to my cry, for I am in desperate need. Deliver me from my persecutors, for they are too strong for me.

¹⁴ But his subjects hated him and sent a delegation after him to say, ‘We do not want this man to rule over us.’

¹⁰ Finally, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. ¹¹ Put on the full armor of God, so that you can make your stand against the devil’s schemes. ¹² For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this world’s darkness, and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

¹⁴ Therefore, since the children have flesh and blood, He too shared in their humanity, so that by His death He might destroy him who holds the power of death, that is, the devil, ¹⁵ and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death.

³⁵ Vengeance is mine, I will repay, at the time when their foot slides; for the day of their calamity is near, and the things to come hasten upon them."

⁶ David was greatly distressed, for the men spoke of stoning him because they were grieved, every man for his sons and his daughters. But David strengthened himself in the LORD his God.

¹⁹ They approached me on the day of my disaster, but the LORD was my support.

¹ For the Chief Musician. By the sons of Korah. According to Alamoth. God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. ² Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change and though the mountains slip into the heart of the sea.

¹¹ the LORD Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.

¹⁶ But I will sing to Your strength, and in the morning will I rejoice in Your mercy; for You have been my supporter, and my refuge in the day of my affliction.

¹⁷ Like the wind from the east I will scatter them before the enemy. I will show them my back and not my face in the day of their disaster.'"

¹⁰ "Because of the violence done to your brother Jacob, shame will cover you and you will be cut off forever. ¹¹ On the day you stood nearby, on the day strangers took his wealth, and foreigners entered his gates and cast lots over Jerusalem, you were also like one of them. ¹² But do not look down on your brother in the day of his disaster, and do not rejoice over the children of Judah in the day of their destruction. Do not speak proudly in the day of distress. ¹³ Do not enter into the gate of my people in the day of their calamity. Do not look down on their affliction in the day of their calamity, neither seize their wealth on the day of their calamity. ¹⁴ nor stand in the crossway to cut off his escapees; nor shut up his survivors in the day of tribulation. ¹⁵ I am very angry with the nations that are at ease; for I was but only a little angry, but they added to the calamity."

¹⁸ he rescues me from my strong enemy - from them who hate me - for they are too strong for me. ¹⁹ They approached me on the day of my disaster, but the LORD was my support. ²⁰ He brought me out to a spacious place. He delivered me because he delighted in me. ²¹ the LORD rewarded me according to my righteousness. According to the cleanness of my hands he has rewarded me. ²² For I have kept the ways of the LORD, and have not wickedly departed from my God. ²³ "All your judgments are in front of me. I have not turned away from your laws. ²⁴ I was blameless before him, and I kept myself from my iniquity. ²⁵ Therefore the LORD has rewarded me according to my righteousness, According to my cleanness in his eyesight. ²⁶ With the faithful you show yourself faithful. With the blameless man you show yourself blameless. ²⁷ With the pure you show yourself pure. And with the crooked you show yourself tortuous.

⁹ Blessed is the LORD your God, who delighted in you, to set you on the throne of Israel. Because of the LORD's everlasting love for Israel, therefore he made you king, to do justice and righteousness."

¹⁶ "He would bring you out of the jaws of distress to a spacious place free from restriction, to the comfort of your table laden with choice food.

³⁶ You widened my steps beneath me, So that my limbs have not tottered."

⁸ You have not handed me over to the hand of the enemy. You have set my feet in a large place.

²³ The LORD ordereth a good man's going, and hath pleasure in his way.

² He brought me up also out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay. He set my feet on a rock, and gave me a firm place to stand.

⁵ In my distress I called to the LORD; he answered me and set me free.

¹¹ »My master, look at this! The border of your robe is in my hand! I cut off the border of your robe and did not kill you. You should know and be able to see I mean no harm or rebellion. I have not sinned against you! But you are trying to ambush me in order to take my life. ¹² May the LORD judge between me and you, and may the LORD avenge the wrong you have done me; but my hand shall not be against you. ¹³ "An old proverb says: 'Only evil people do evil things.' So I will not harm you.

¹⁷ to David, "You are more righteous than I am, because you have treated me well even though I've treated you poorly.

¹⁹ For if a man finds his enemy, will he let him go away unharmed? Therefore may the LORD reward you good for that which you have done to me today. ²⁰ Now I know that you will surely be king, and that the kingdom of Israel will be established in your hands.

³⁰ He will deliver even him who is not innocent. Yes, he will be delivered through the cleanness of your hands.

³ O LORD my God, if I have done this, if there is wrong in my hands,

⁸ the LORD shall judge the people; judge me, O LORD, according to my righteousness, and according to my integrity on me.

²⁴ Therefore the LORD has rewarded me according to my righteousness, according to the cleanness of my hands in his eyesight.

⁴ He that has clean hands, and a pure heart; who has not lifted up his soul to vanity, nor sworn deceitfully.

⁶ I will wash my hands in innocence: so will I go about your altar, O LORD:

¹¹ A person will say, "Certainly, the righteous are rewarded; certainly there is a God who judges the earth."

¹⁸ A wicked man earns deceitful wages, but he who sows righteousness [has] a sure reward.

⁴ But I said, “I have labored in vain. I have spent my strength in vain for nothing; yet surely the justice due to me is with the LORD, and my reward with my God.”

¹¹ Look, the LORD has proclaimed to the end of the earth, "Say to the daughter of Zion, 'Look, your salvation comes. Look, his reward is with him, and his recompense before him.'"

⁴ so that your giving may be in secret. And your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

⁸ He who plants and he who waters are one in purpose, and each will be rewarded according to his own labor.

²⁶ We need such a high priest {— } one who is holy, innocent, pure, set apart from sinners, exalted above the heavens.

¹¹ "I regret that I made Saul king, because he has turned away from following me and has not carried out my commands." Samuel was angry, and he cried out to the LORD all night.

³³ And Josiah removed all the detestable things from the whole land that belonged to the Israelites and obligated all who were found in Israel to serve the LORD their God. All his days they did not turn aside from following the LORD, the God of their ancestors.

⁴ As for the deeds of men, by the word of your lips, I have kept myself from the ways of the violent.

¹ Davidic. Vindicate me, LORD, because I have walked in integrity; I have trusted in the LORD without wavering.

¹⁰ I have sought you with all of my heart; do not let me drift away from your commands. ¹¹ I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.

¹⁰² I have not departed from your judgments: for you have taught me.

³² Now therefore, my sons, listen to me, for blessed are those who keep my ways.

¹⁶ Therefore I strive always to have a clear conscience before God and men.

¹⁰ You are witnesses, and so is God, of how holy, righteous, and blameless our conduct was among you who believed.

¹⁹ They went out from us, but they did not belong to us. For if they had belonged to us, they would have remained with us. But their departure made it clear that none of them belonged to us.

¹³ With my lips I recount All the ordinances from Your mouth.

³⁰ I have chosen the way of truth. I have set your ordinances before me.

¹¹² My heart is ever ready to keep your rules, even to the end.

¹¹⁷ Hold me up, and I shall be safe; and I will always have respect to Your Precepts.

¹²⁸ Therefore I consider all of your precepts to be right. I hate every false way.

¹⁴ Afterward Jesus found him in the Temple, and said to him, "See! You are well again. Give up sin, or something worse may happen to you."

²³ The LORD reward every man's righteousness and faith: for the LORD delivered thee into my hand this day, but I would not lay my hand upon the LORD's anointed.

¹⁷ And I know, my God, that You try the heart and are pleased with uprightness; I, in the uprightness of my heart, have offered willingly all these things; and now I have watched with joy Your people who are present here offering willingly to You.

¹ A song of David, which he sang to the LORD on the words of Cush the Benjamite. O LORD my God, I seek refuge in You; save me from all who pursue me, and deliver me; ² Or else he will tear me apart like a lion, ripping to pieces, with none to deliver. ³ O LORD my God, if I have done this, if there is wrong in my hands, ⁴ if I have rewarded evil to him who was at peace with me, or oppressed my enemy without cause, ⁵ then let the enemy pursue and overtake me, trample my life to the ground, and lay me in the dust. ⁶ Arise, LORD, in your anger. Lift up yourself against the rage of my adversaries. Awake, my God; you have appointed judgment. ⁷ And let the assembly of peoples surround you, and over it return on high. ⁸ the LORD shall judge the people; judge me, O LORD, according to my righteousness, and according to my integrity on me.

⁷ For the LORD is righteous. He loves righteousness. The upright shall see his face.

³ You have tried my heart; you have examined me by night; you have tested me; you found nothing. I have decided that my mouth will not transgress.

²⁷ Depart from evil, and do good, and you will live in the land forever.

²⁹ If your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. ³⁰ And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to depart into hell.

⁸ "So if your hand or your foot causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life injured or crippled than to have two hands or two feet and be thrown into eternal fire. ⁹ And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into the fire of hell.

¹² May the LORD repay your work, and a full reward be given you from the LORD, the God of Israel, under whose wings you have come to take refuge."

⁴¹ Every one who receives a prophet, because he is a prophet, will receive a prophet's reward, and every one who receives a righteous man, because he is a righteous man, will receive a righteous man's reward. ⁴² And if anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones because he is My disciple, truly I tell you, he will never lose his reward.”

⁶ For truly God's justice must render back trouble to those who are troubling you, ⁷ and to grant relief to you who are oppressed, and to us as well, when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with His mighty angels

¹⁶ Men swear by someone greater than themselves, and their oath serves as a confirmation to end all argument.

³² then hear in heaven, and act, and judge your servants, condemning the wicked, to bring his way on his own head, and justifying the righteous, to give him according to his righteousness.

¹⁷ They refused to listen and did not remember your wonders that you did among them. They stiffened their neck and in their rebellion determined to return to their slavery. But you are a God of forgiveness, gracious and compassionate, slow to anger, abundant in loyal love, so you did not abandon them.

¹ To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David. Blessed is he who acts wisely toward the poor; the LORD will deliver him in time of trouble. ² The LORD will protect him and keep him alive; he will be blessed in the land; and he will not be handed over to the desires of his enemies. ³ The LORD will sustain him on his sickbed, and restore him from his bed of illness. ⁴ I said, "LORD, have mercy on me. Heal me, for I have sinned against you."

¹² Also to you, Lord, belongs gracious love, because you reward each person according to what he does.

⁴ Risen—in darkness, is light to the upright, The gracious and compassionate and righteous. ⁵ Well will it be with the man who is kind, and lendeth: he will guide his affairs with justice. ⁶ For he will never be shaken. The righteous will be remembered forever.

⁷ The path of the righteous is level. O upright One, you make the way of the righteous smooth.

¹ The righteous perish, and no one lays it to heart. Merciful men are taken away, and no one considers that the righteous is taken away from the evil. ² His burial shall be in peace: he has been removed out of the way.

⁷ "Is it not to divide your bread with the hungry and bring the homeless poor into the house? When you see the naked, should you cover him and not hide yourself from your own flesh? ⁸ »Your light will break out like the dawn. Your recovery will speedily spring forth. Your righteousness will go before you and the glory of the LORD will be your rear guard.

²⁵ "'Yet you say, "The way of the LORD is not just." Hear now, house of Israel: "Is my way not just? Aren't your ways unjust?" ²⁶ When a righteous man turns away from his righteousness, and commits iniquity, and dies in it, in his iniquity that he has done, he shall die. ²⁷ Again, when a wicked man turns away from his wickedness that he has committed and does what is lawful and right, he will save his soul alive. ²⁸ Because he considers and turns away from all his transgressions that he has committed, he will surely live. He will not die. ²⁹ But the house of Israel says, The way of the Lord is not fair. Are My ways not fair, O house of Israel? Is it not your ways that are not fair? ³⁰ Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, each one according to his ways, says the Sovereign LORD. Return and turn yourselves from all your transgressions, so iniquity will not be your ruin.

⁷ Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.

³³ Should you not have had mercy on your fellow servant, just as I had on you?’ ³⁴ In his anger, his master turned him over to the jailers to be tortured, until he should repay all that he owed. ³⁵ That is how My Heavenly Father will treat each of you, unless you forgive your brother from your heart.”

³⁵ But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them, expecting nothing in return. Then your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High; for He is kind to the ungrateful and wicked. ³⁶ Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful. ³⁷ Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. ³⁸ Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you.”

¹⁴ What then shall we say? Is God unjust? Absolutely not!

²³ And if over these things you should not be corrected, but should go to me sideways, ²⁴ I also will walk contrary to you, and will strike you seven times for your sins.

²⁷ "'If in spite of this you do not listen to me and still resist me, ²⁸ then I will go against you in hostile anger, and also I myself will discipline you seven times for your sins.

¹⁷ Yea, he loved cursing, and it came to him; he also had no pleasure in blessing, and it was far from him. ¹⁸ He put on cursing like a robe, and it has come into his body like water, and into his bones like oil. ¹⁹ May those curses wrap around him like a garment, or like a belt that one always wears.

³⁴ Surely He mocks the mockers, but He gives grace to the humble.

⁴ Or do you disregard the riches of His kindness, tolerance, and patience, not realizing that God’s kindness leads you to repentance? ⁵ But because of your hard and unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath against yourself for the day of wrath, when God’s righteous judgment will be revealed. ⁶ For he will render to everyone according to what he has done,

⁹ There will be trouble and distress for every human being who does evil, first for the Jew, then for the Greek;

¹³ For judgment without mercy will be shown to anyone who has not been merciful. Mercy triumphs over judgment.

²⁸ You save the nation who is humble but your eyes watch the proud, to bring them down.

¹⁸ for the needy shall not always be forgotten; the hope of the poor shall never perish.

⁴ The wicked in his proud countenance does not seek. All his thoughts are "There is no God."

¹⁰ They close up their callous hearts. With their mouth they speak proudly.

¹³ Arise, O LORD, confront him, cast him down: deliver my soul from the wicked, by your sword:

⁶ This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles.

¹⁷ But I am poor and needy. Let my Lord consider me. You are my help and my deliverer. O my God, do not delay.

⁵ Whoso slandereth his neighbour in secret, him will I destroy; whoso is haughty of eye and proud of heart, him will I not suffer.

¹⁶ Here are six things that the LORD hates seven, in fact, are detestable to him: ¹⁷ haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood;

¹² A generation that are pure in their own eyes, and yet are not washed from their filthiness.

⁹ The look of their faces testify against them. They parade their sin like Sodom. They do not hide it. Woe to their soul. For they have brought disaster upon themselves.

¹² And this shall happen: when the Lord has finished all his work against Mount Zion and Jerusalem, "I will punish the arrogance of the king of Assyria and his haughtiness."

¹⁵ For thus says the high and lofty one who resides forever, and whose name is holy: "I reside in a high and holy place, and with the contrite and humble of spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite.

² And my hand has made all these things, and all these came to be," declares the LORD, "but I look to this one: to the humble and the contrite of spirit and the one frightened at my word.

⁵² He has brought down rulers from their thrones, but has exalted the humble. ⁵³ He has filled the hungry with good things, but has sent the rich away empty.

¹⁴ I tell you, this man, rather than the Pharisee, went home justified. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted.”

⁹ For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, so that you through His poverty might become rich.

⁵ Listen, my dearly loved brothers; did not God choose those who are poor in the eyes of the world to be wealthy in faith and to inherit the kingdom which He promised to those who love Him?

²⁹ For you are my lamp, LORD, the LORD who illuminates my darkness.

³⁶ I will give one tribe to his son, that David my servant may have a lamp always before me in Jerusalem, the city which I have chosen for myself to put my name there.

⁴ Nevertheless for David's sake, the LORD his God gave him a lamp in Jerusalem, to set up his son after him, and to establish Jerusalem;

⁶ "The light in his tent becomes dark. The lamp beside him will be put out.

³ when his lamp shone upon my head, and by his light I walked through darkness,

⁴ Risen—in darkness, is light to the upright, The gracious and compassionate and righteous.

²⁷ The lamp of the LORD is the spirit of humankind, he who searches every ⌊innermost part⌋.

¹⁶ And I will lead the blind by a way they knew not; I will lead them in paths they never knew; I will make darkness into light before them, and crooked places a level place. I do these things to them and do not forsake them;

¹ For Zion's sake I will not hold my peace, and for Jerusalem's sake I will not rest, until her righteousness shines out like the dawn, and her salvation like a burning lamp.

¹⁶ the people living in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death, a light has dawned.”

⁷⁹ to shine on those who live in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the path of peace.”

⁹ But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God; that you should declare the praises of him who has called you out of darkness into his marvellous light.

⁴⁹ He put his hand into his bag, took out a stone and slung it and struck the Philistine on his forehead. The stone sank into his forehead and he fell on his face to the ground.

² So David inquired of the LORD, saying, "Shall I go and attack these Philistines?" And the LORD said to David, "Go and attack the Philistines and save Keilah."

⁸ and David inquired of the LORD saying, Shall I pursue this raiding party? Will I overtake them? He answered, Pursue, for you will certainly overtake them and recover all.

¹⁹ David asked the LORD: "Shall I attack the Philistines? Will you hand them over to me?" the LORD answered David: "Attack! I will certainly deliver the Philistines to you." ²⁰ And David came to Baal Pharisim: and defeated them there, and he said, The Lord hath divided my enemies before me, as waters are divided. Therefore the name of the place was called Baal Pharisim.

²⁵ David did so, as the LORD commanded him, and struck the Philistines all the way from Geba to Gezer.

³⁰ For by you, I run against a troop. By my God, I leap over a wall.

⁶ For I do not trust my bow, and my sword cannot give me victory. ⁷ You saved us from our adversaries. You put to shame those who hate us.

¹ By David. Blessed is the LORD my rock, who is teaching My hands for war, my fingers for battle.

¹⁰ You who gives salvation to kings, who delivers His servant David from the evil sword.

¹⁰ But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace to me was not in vain. No, I worked harder than all of them—yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me.

⁹ But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest on me. ¹⁰ That is why, for Christ's sake, I am content in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties; for when I am weak, then I am strong.

¹⁰ Finally, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. ¹¹ Put on the full armor of God, so that you can make your stand against the devil’s schemes. ¹² For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this world’s darkness, and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. ¹³ Therefore put on the full armour of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to withstand it; and after you have done everything, to stand firm.

¹⁵ And having disarmed the rulers and authorities, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.

²¹ To him who overcomes I will grant the right to sit with me on my throne, just as I overcame, and sat down with my Father on his throne.

⁴ The Rock: his work is perfect, for all his ways are just. A God of faithfulness who does no wrong, just and right is he.

³¹ As for God, his way is perfect. The word of the LORD is pure. He is a shield to all those who take refuge in him.

⁶ The Words of the LORD are pure Words, like silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.

⁷ Show your marvelous loving kindness, O you who saves by your right hand those who take refuge from those who rise up.

² the LORD is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge; my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower.

⁷ The law of the LORD is perfect, refreshing the soul, The testimonies of the LORD are stedfast, Making wise the simple, ⁸ The precepts of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; the commands of the LORD are pure, giving light to the eyes. ⁹ The fear of the LORD is clean, standing forever. The judgments of the LORD are true; they are altogether righteous. ¹⁰ They are more precious than gold, even much fine gold, and sweeter than honey and drops from the honeycomb.

¹⁰ All the ways of the Lord are mercy and good faith for those who keep his agreement and his witness.

¹¹ For the LORD God is a sun and shield; the LORD will give grace and glory; no good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly. ¹² O LORD Almighty, blessed is the man who trusts in you.

¹⁴⁰ Your promises have been thoroughly tested, and your servant loves them.

⁵ "Every word of God is flawless. He is a shield to those who take refuge in him.

³⁷ Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and exalt and honor the King of heaven, all whose works are truth and His ways judgment. And those who walk in pride He is able to humble.

² Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.

³ and they sang the song of Moses, the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, "Great and marvelous are your deeds, O Lord God the Almighty! Just and true are your ways, O King of the ages!

³¹ For their rock isn't like our Rock, as even our enemies admit.

³⁹ See, now, that I, even I am he, and there is not a god besides me; I put to death and I give life; I wound and I heal; there is not one who delivers from my hand!

² There is no one holy like the LORD, indeed there is no one besides you, there is no rock like our God.

³² For who is God, except the LORD? And who is a rock, except our God?

⁸ Among the gods there is none like You, O Lord; none are like Your works.

⁵ I am the LORD, and there is no other. Besides me, there is no God. I will strengthen you, though you have not known me;

²¹ Declare and bring near; yea, let them consult together. Who has revealed this of old; who has told it from then? Is it not I, the LORD? And there is no God other than Me; a just God and a Savior; there is none except Me. ²² Turn to Me and be saved, all the ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is no other.

³³ This God has girded me with strength, and he makes my way perfect.

⁷ The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and I received help. My heart exalts, and I give thanks to him with my song.

¹ The LORD reigns. He is clothed with majesty. The LORD is armed with strength. The world also is established. It can't be moved.

⁵ Not that we are competent in ourselves to claim that anything comes from us, but our competence comes from God.

¹³ "He made him ride on the heights of the earth and fed him with the produce of the fields. He gave him honey from rocks and olive oil from solid rock.

²⁹ How blessed are you, Israel! Who can be like you, a people delivered by the LORD, your shield of help and your finely crafted sword. May your enemies cower before you. You will tread down their high places.

¹⁸ The three sons of Zeruiah were there, Joab, Abishai and Asahel: and Asahel was as swift of foot as a wild gazelle.

¹⁴ the LORD thundered from heaven, the Most High uttered His voice.

¹⁹ The LORD, the Lord, is my strength. He makes my feet like deer's feet, and enables me to go in high places. For the music director, on my stringed instruments.

³⁶ And You give to me the shield of Your salvation, And Your lowliness makes me great.

⁹ He makes wars cease to the end of the earth. He breaks the bow, and shatters the spear. He burns the chariots in the fire.

⁶ He will be a spirit of justice to him who sits in judgment, a source of strength to those who repel the attack at the gate.

¹ Thus says the LORD to his anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I have held, to subdue nations before him, and strip kings of their armor; to open the doors before him, and the gates shall not be shut:

³⁵ So says the LORD Almighty: Behold, I will break the bow of Elam, the chief of their might.

⁵ On that day I will break the bow of Israel in the Valley of Jezreel."

¹² For You, O LORD, will bless the righteous; You will surround him with favor, as with a shield.

³ Gird your sword on your thigh, O mighty one, in your splendor and your majesty. ⁴ In your majesty ride on victoriously on behalf of truth, humility, and righteousness. Let your right hand display awesome deeds.

³ All your leaders have fled together. They have been captured without using the bow. All you who were caught were taken prisoner together. You fled while the enemy was still far away.

¹¹ He tends his flock like a shepherd. He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart. He gently leads those that have young.

¹ Now by the mildness and gentleness of Christ, I appeal to you—I, Paul, who am humble when face to face with you, but bold when away.

²² But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, ²³ gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

¹⁷ But the wisdom from above is first of all pure, then peaceable, gentle, accommodating, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial, and sincere. ¹⁸ Peacemakers who sow in peace reap the fruit of righteousness.

⁷ "The vigor of his step is weakened. His own schemes will bring his downfall.

¹ For the Chief Musician; on stringed instruments. A Psalm by David. Answer me when I call, God of my righteousness. Give me relief from my distress. Have mercy on me, and hear my prayer.

¹² When you go, your steps will not be hampered. When you run, you will not stumble.

⁵⁰ But I have a baptism to undergo, and how distressed I am until it is completed!

⁴⁶ And He told them, “This is what is written: The Christ will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, ⁴⁷ and that repentance and forgiveness of sins should be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. ⁴⁸ You are witnesses of these things.

¹⁷ I see him, but not now. I see him, but not near. A star will come out of Jacob. A scepter will rise out of Israel, and shall strike through the corners of Moab, and crush all the sons of Sheth. ¹⁸ Edom will be a captive; Seir, its enemies, will be a captive, and Israel will be acting courageously. ¹⁹ One from Jacob shall hold sway, and will destroy the survivors of the city.

⁷ Arise, LORD. Save me, my God. For you slap all my enemies in the face. You break the teeth of the wicked.

³ When my enemies turn back, they stumble and perish before you.

² Take hold of shield and buckler, and stand up for my help.

⁵ Let them be like chaff before the wind, with the angel of the LORD driving them.

²⁰ But the wicked shall perish. The enemies of Yahweh shall be like the beauty of the fields. They will vanish— vanish like smoke.

⁵ Through you we push down our tribulators; through your name we trample them who rise against us.

¹¹ They surrounded me, yes, they surrounded me. In the name of the LORD I indeed cut them off. ¹² They surrounded me like bees but they are quenched like the burning thorns. In the name of the LORD I cut them off.

¹⁰ It was the LORD's will to allow him to be crushed. Even though the LORD makes his life a guilt offering, he will see his offspring and prolong his days, and the will of the LORD will prosper in his hand. ¹¹ After his suffering he will see the light and be satisfied. By his knowledge my righteous servant will justify many. He will bear their iniquities. ¹² Therefore I will divide him a portion with the great and he will divide the spoil with the strong, because he poured out his soul to death and was numbered with the transgressors. Yet he bore the sin of many and made intercession for the transgressors.

¹ Who is this, coming from Edom, from Bozrah in bright red garments? Who is this honored in his garment, lying down in his great strength? "It is I, speaking in justice, mighty to save!" ² Why are your garments red, and your garments like he who treads in the winepress? ³ “I have trodden the wine press alone. Of the peoples, no one was with me. Yes, I trod them in my anger and trampled them in my wrath. Their lifeblood is sprinkled on my garments, and I have stained all my clothing. ⁴ For the day of vengeance was in my heart, and the year of my redeemed has come. ⁵ I looked, and there was no one to help; and I wondered that there was no one to uphold. Therefore my own arm brought salvation to me. My own wrath upheld me. ⁶ "In my wrath I trampled on people. In my rage I made them drunk and poured their blood on the ground."

² And in my vision I saw 'a white horse.' Its rider held a bow, and he was given a crown, and he went out conquering and to conquer.

¹⁹ Then I saw the beast, the kings of the earth, and their armies gathered to wage war against the rider on the horse and his army. ²⁰ But the beast was captured, and with him the false prophet who had performed signs on his behalf, by which he deceived those who had the mark of the beast and worshiped its image. Both of them were thrown alive into the fiery lake of burning sulfur.

⁴⁹ He put his hand into his bag, took out a stone and slung it and struck the Philistine on his forehead. The stone sank into his forehead and he fell on his face to the ground. ⁵⁰ So David triumphed over the Philistine with a sling and a stone, and struck the Philistine and killed him without a sword in his hand. ⁵¹ David ran and stood over the Philistine. He took the Philistine's sword, pulled it from its sheath, killed him, and then he cut off his head with it. When the Philistines saw that their champion was dead, they fled.

⁵ David and his men went to Keilah and fought the Philistines. He carried off their livestock and defeated them decisively, and so David delivered the inhabitants of Keilah.

¹⁷ David fought them from twilight to the evening of the next day. Not a man of them escaped except four hundred young men who rode on camels and fled.

¹ All the tribes of Israel came to David at Hebron and said to him: "We are your own flesh and blood. ² In times past, when Saul was king over us, it was you who led Israel out and in. the LORD said to you, 'You will be shepherd of my people Israel, and you will be prince over Israel.'” ³ So all the elders of Israel came to the king to Hebron; and king David made a covenant with them in Hebron before the LORD; and they anointed David king over Israel. ⁴ David was thirty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned forty years. ⁵ In Hebron he reigned over Judah seven years and six months; and in Jerusalem he reigned thirty-three years over all Israel and Judah. ⁶ The king and his men went to Jerusalem to attack the Jebusites, who lived in that region. The Jebusites told David: "You will never get in here. Even the blind and the lame could turn you away. In other words he could not enter there." ⁷ David captured the fortress of Zion, the city of David. ⁸ At that time, David had said, "Whoever intends to attack the Jebusites will have to climb up the water shaft to attack the lame and blind, who hate David." Therefore they say, "The blind and lame shall never come into the house." ⁹ David occupied the fortress, naming it the City of David. He built up the surroundings from the terrace ramparts inward. ¹⁰ David continued to grow more powerful because the LORD God of Hosts was with him. ¹¹ And Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and cedar wood, and carpenters, and stone masons; and they built a house for David. ¹² And David felt conscious that the Lord has established him as king over Israel, and that he had exalted his kingdom for the sake of his people Israel. ¹³ David took more concubines and wives from Jerusalem after he came from Hebron, and more sons and daughters were born to him. ¹⁴ These are the names of those who were born to him in Jerusalem: Shammua, Shobab, Nathan, Solomon, ¹⁵ Ibhar, Elishua, Nepheg, Japhia, ¹⁶ Elishama, Eliada, and Eliphelet. ¹⁷ When the Philistines heard that they had anointed David king over Israel, all the Philistines went up to seek David, but David heard about it and went down to the stronghold. ¹⁸ Now the Philistines had come, and they spread out in the Valley of Rephaim. ¹⁹ David asked the LORD: "Shall I attack the Philistines? Will you hand them over to me?" the LORD answered David: "Attack! I will certainly deliver the Philistines to you." ²⁰ And David came to Baal Pharisim: and defeated them there, and he said, The Lord hath divided my enemies before me, as waters are divided. Therefore the name of the place was called Baal Pharisim. ²¹ The Philistines abandoned their idols there, and David and his army carried them off. ²² Once again the Philistines came up and spread out in the Valley of Rephaim. ²³ When David inquired of the LORD, he said, “You shall not go up. Circle around behind them, and attack them in front of the mulberry trees. ²⁴ When you hear the sound of marching coming from the tops of the balsam trees, then be sure to act quickly, since the LORD will have gone out ahead of you to cut down the Philistine army. ²⁵ David did so, as the LORD commanded him, and struck the Philistines all the way from Geba to Gezer.

¹ It happened afterwards that David attacked the Philistines and subdued them, and he took Metheg Ammah from the hands of the Philistines. ² He struck Moab, and measured them with the line, making them to lie down on the ground; and he measured two lines to put to death, and one full line to keep alive. The Moabites became servants to David, and brought tribute. ³ Then David struck down Hadadezer the son of Rehob, king of Zobah, when he went to restore his monument at the Euphrates River. ⁴ David captured from him one thousand and seven hundred horsemen and twenty thousand foot soldiers. David hamstrung all the chariot horses, but from them he spared a hundred chariot horses. ⁵ When the Syrians of Damascus came to help Hadadezer king of Zobah, David struck twenty two thousand men of the Syrians. ⁶ Then David put garrisons in Syria of Damascus; and the Syrians became servants to David, and brought tribute. The LORD gave victory to David wherever he went. ⁷ And David took the shields of gold that belonged to the servants of Hadad’ezer, and brought them to Jerusalem. ⁸ From Betah and from Berothai, cities of Hadadezer, king David took a great quantity of bronze. ⁹ When Toi king of Hamath heard that David had defeated all the armies of Hadadezer, ¹⁰ Tou sent his son Joram to King David to greet him and congratulate him on his victory over Hadadezer, because he had been at war with Tou. Joram brought articles of silver, gold, and bronze with him, ¹¹ King David dedicated these articles to the LORD, along with the silver and gold he dedicated from all the nations he conquered. ¹² of Syria, of Moab, of the children of Ammon, of the Philistines, of Amalek, and of the plunder of Hadadezer, son of Rehob, king of Zobah. ¹³ David earned a reputation when he returned from striking down eighteen thousand men of the Syrians in the Valley of Salt. ¹⁴ He erected garrisons throughout Edom, and all the Edomites became subservient to David, while the LORD gave victory to David wherever he went. ¹⁵ And David reigned over all Israel; and David did what is just and right unto all his people. ¹⁶ Joab the son of Zeruiah was over the army, Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was recorder, ¹⁷ Zadok the son of Ahitub and Ahimelech the son of Abiathar were priests, Seraiah was scribe, ¹⁸ Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and the Pelethites, and David's sons were chief ministers.

¹ Sometime later, the Ammonite king died and his son Hanun succeeded him as king, ² And David said, I will show kindness to Hanun the son of Nahash, as his father showed kindness to me. So David sent by his servants to comfort him concerning his father. And David's servants came into the land of the sons of Ammon. ³ the Ammonite princes asked their master Hanun: "Do you think David is honoring your father because he sent men to comfort you? Perhaps David sent his men to explore the city, spy on it, and destroy it." ⁴ And Hanun took David's servants and shaved off half their beards, and cut off their garments in the middle, to their buttocks, and sent them away. ⁵ When they told David this, he sent to meet them, for the men were greatly ashamed. The king said, “Wait at Jericho until your beards have grown, and then return.” ⁶ When the Ammonites realized that they had created quite a stink with David, they hired 20,000 Aramean mercenaries from Beth-rehob and Zobah, along with the king of Maacah and 1,000 men, and 12,000 men from Tob. ⁷ And hearing of this, David sent Joab and all the army and the best fighting-men. ⁸ The Ammonites came out and drew up a battle formation at the entrance of the gate, but Aram-Zobah and Rehob and the men of Tob and Maacah were alone in the open field. ⁹ Joab saw he was under attack in front and behind. He took the select troops of Israel and organized them for combat against the Arameans. ¹⁰ putting the rest of his forces under the command of his brother Abishai, who arrayed them to oppose the Ammonites. ¹¹ He said, "If the Arameans prove too strong for me, then you are to help me. If the Ammonites prove too strong for you, then I will come help you. ¹² Be strong, and let us shew ourselves valiant for our people and for the cities of our God; and the LORD do what is good in his sight. ¹³ Then Joab, and all his people with him, advanced to battle against the Syrians, and they fled before him. ¹⁴ When the Ammonites saw that Aram had fled, they fled from before Abishai and entered the city. Then Joab returned from fighting against the Ammonites and came to Jerusalem. ¹⁵ After the Arameans realized that they had been defeated by Israel, they regrouped. ¹⁶ And Hadadezer sent for the Aramaeans who were on the other side of the River: and they came to Helam, with Shobach, the captain of Hadadezer's army, at their head. ¹⁷ David was told, so he gathered all Israel and crossed over the Jordan and came to Helam. Aram arranged themselves in battle lines to meet David, and they fought with him. ¹⁸ And Aram fled before Israel, and David killed from the Arameans seven hundred chariot teams and forty thousand horsemen. He struck down Shobach, the commander of his army, and he died there. ¹⁹ When all the kings who were allied with Hadadezer saw that they had been defeated by Israel, they sought terms of peace with the Israelites and became subservient to them. Furthermore, the Arameans were afraid to help the Ammonites any more.

⁷ And the people of Israel were defeated there by David's army, and a great slaughter was made that day of twenty thousand men. ⁸ The battle spread throughout the entire countryside, and the forest claimed more casualties that day than did the sword fighting.

¹⁵ Once again there was a battle between the Philistines and Israel. David and his men went to fight the Philistines. David became exhausted. ¹⁶ And Ishbi-Benob, one of the descendants of the Raphah, the weight of whose spear was three hundred shekels of bronze in weight, who was armed with a new sword, thought he could kill David. ¹⁷ And Abishai son of Zeruiah helped him, and he struck the Philistine and killed him. Then the men of David swore by an oath, saying, You shall not come forth still with us into battle, that in no way the lamp of Israel should be extinguished. ¹⁸ And there was yet, after this, battle with the Philistines at Nob, in which Sibbecai the Hushathite slew Saph of the sons of Haraphah. ¹⁹ And there was again war with the Philistines at Gob. And Elhanan the son of Jaareoregim the Bethlehemite killed Goliath the Gittite, the staff of whose spear was like a weaver's beam. ²⁰ There was also another battle at Geth, and there was a smooth man who had six fingers on each hand, and six toes on each foot, twenty four in all, and he was a descendant of Rapha, ²¹ When he defied Israel, Jonathan the son of Shimei, David's brother, killed him. ²² These four were born of Arapha in Geth, and they fell by the hand of David, and of his servants.

³⁹ I wasted them and so clouted them, that they could not arise: but fell under my feet.

¹² There the evil-doers have fallen; they are cast down, and cannot rise.

³ He subdues nations under us, and peoples under our feet.

⁴⁰ And You gird me [with] strength for battle, You cause my withstanders to bow under me. ⁴¹ You made my enemies turn and run, that is, those who hate me and I destroyed them!

¹⁸ He said to them: "Is not the LORD your God with you? And has he not granted you rest on every side? For he has handed the inhabitants of the land over to me, and the land is subject to the LORD and to his people.

²¹ Evil will kill the wicked and those who hate the righteous will be condemned.

³ Say to God: "How awesome are your works! Because of your great strength your enemies cringe before you."

³⁶ "But he who sins against me wrongs himself. All who hate me love death."

¹⁴ This is what the LORD says: "The products of Egypt and the merchandise of Cush, and those tall Sabeans will come over to you and will be yours. They will walk behind you. They will come to you in chains. They will bow down before you and plead with you. They will say: 'God is with you and there is no other. There is no other god!'

⁵ Our pursuers are on our necks; we are weary, and have no rest.

²⁴ And I will strengthen the arms of the king of Babylon and put my sword in his hand. But I will break the arms of Pharaoh and he will groan before him with the groanings of a mortally wounded man. ²⁵ '"I will strengthen the arms (the power) of the king of Babylon, but the arms of Pharaoh will fall. Then they will know that I am the LORD, when I put my sword into the hand of the king of Babylon and he stretches it out against the land of Egypt.

²³ He who hates me, hates my Father also.

²⁵ For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet. ²⁶ The last enemy to be destroyed is death. ²⁷ For “God has put everything under His feet.” Now when it says that everything has been put under Him, this clearly does not include the One who put everything under Him. ²⁸ And when all things have been subjected to Him, then the Son Himself will be made subject to Him who put all things under Him, so that God may be all in all.

²² And he subordinated all things under his feet, and appointed him head over all things for the church,

²¹ who, by the power that enables Him to subject all things to Himself, will transform our lowly bodies to be like His glorious body.

²³ He shall recompense them their wickedness, and destroy them in their own malice: yea the LORD our God shall destroy them.

⁴² They cry out, but there was none to save; even to the LORD, but he did not answer them. ⁴³ I beat them small as the dust of the earth; I trampled them like the dirt of highways.

⁹ "Does God listen to his cry when distress comes upon him?

¹² There they cry, and he answereth not, because of the pride of evil men. ¹³ "Surely God does not hear an empty plea, and Shaddai does not regard it.

²² "Now consider this, you who forget God, lest I tear you into pieces, and there be none to deliver.

²⁸ Then they will call on me, but I will not answer. They will seek me diligently, but they will not find me;

¹⁵ "When you spread out your hands in prayer, I will hide my eyes from you. Even though you offer many prayers, I will not listen because your hands are full of blood.

¹ The hand of the LORD is not too weak to save or his ear too deaf to hear. ² But your iniquities have separated you and your God, and your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear.

¹¹ "'Therefore the LORD says: 'I am going to bring a disaster on them that they cannot escape. Although they will cry out to me, I will not listen to them.

¹² Although they fast, I won't listen to their cry, and although they offer burnt offerings and grain offerings, I won't accept them. Instead, I'll put an end to them with the sword, with famine, and with a plague."

¹⁸ Therefore will I also deal with them in anger; My eye shall not spare, neither will I have pity; and though they cry in My ears with a loud voice, yet will I not hear them.

¹⁴ They haven’t cried to me with their heart, but they howl on their beds. They assemble themselves for grain and new wine. They turn away from me.

⁴ "They will cry to the LORD but he will not answer them. In fact, he will hide his face from them at that time because they have done evil things."

¹³ "'I cried, and they would not listen. Now they will cry, and I will not listen,' said the LORD Almighty!

²⁵ After the master of the house gets up and shuts the door, you will stand outside knocking and saying, ‘Lord, open the door for us.’ But he will reply, ‘I do not know where you are from.’

⁷ For he had left of the people to Jehoahaz but fifty horsemen, and ten chariots, and ten thousand footmen; for the king of Syria had destroyed them, and had made them like the dust by threshing.

⁶ "I send him against a godless nation. I commission him against the people of my fury to capture booty and to seize plunder, and to trample them down like mud (clay) in the streets.

¹⁰ For the hand of the LORD shall rest in this mountain; and Moab shall be trampled under Him, even as straw is trampled in the water of a dung pit.

² "Who has stirred up one from the east, calling him in righteousness to his service? He hands nations over to him and subdues kings before him. He turns them to dust with his sword, to windblown chaff with his bow.

¹⁵ "See I will make you into a threshing sledge, new and sharp, with many teeth. You will thresh the mountains and crush them. You will reduce the hills to chaff. ¹⁶ "You will winnow them. The wind will pick them up and a gale will blow them away. But you will rejoice in the LORD and glory in the Holy One of Israel.

⁵ And they will be like warriors, trampling in the mud of the streets in the battle. They will fight, because the LORD is with them, and they will put to shame the riders on horses.

³ You will trample down the wicked, for they will be ashes under the soles of your feet on the day that I am going to act," says the LORD of hosts.

⁹ Abner made him king of Gilead, Asher, Jezreel, Ephraim, and Benjamin, that is, all Israel. ¹⁰ Ish-Bosheth the son of Saul was forty years old when he became king over Israel and he reigned two years; however, the house of Judah followed David.

¹ And the war between the house of Saul and the house of David was prolonged,—and, David, waxed stronger and stronger, and, the house of Saul, became weaker and weaker.

⁹ Throughout the tribes of Israel, everyone was quarreling with one another: "The king delivered us from the domination of our enemies…" "He's the one who rescued us from Philistine control…" "Now he's fleeing the country because of Absalom…!"

⁴⁴ You delivered me from the strife of my people; you preserved me as the head of the nations. A people I had not known served me. ⁴⁵ Strangers come cringing unto me: At the hearing of the ear, they obey me. ⁴⁶ Foreigners lost their courage, coming trembling from their strongholds.

²⁷ All the limits of the earth shall remember and return to the LORD, And all the families of the nations shall bow down before Him." ²⁸ Because the kingship belongs to the LORD, and he rules over the nations.

⁹ Moab is My washbasin; Unto Edom shall I fling My sandal; Over Philistia shall I shout in triumph.

⁶ yes, he says, It is too light a thing that you should be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob and to restore the preserved of Israel. I will also give you for a light to the Gentiles, that you may be my salvation to the end of the earth.

²² Thus saith the Lord God: Behold I will lift up my hand to the Gentiles, and will set up my standard to the people. And they shall bring thy sons in their arms, and carry thy daughters upon their shoulders. ²³ Kings shall be your foster fathers, and their queens your nursing mothers. They will bow down to you with their faces to the earth, and lick the dust of your feet. Then you will know that I am the LORD; and those who wait for me shall not be disappointed.”

¹⁵ He will startle (amaze) (astonish) many nations, and kings will shut their mouths because of him. For what they were not told, they will see, and what they have not heard, they will understand.

⁵ You will summon nations you do not know. Nations that do not know you will run to you, because of the LORD your God, the Holy One of Israel, for he has endowed you with splendor.

¹⁰ The number of the children of Israel will be like the sand of the sea that cannot be measured or counted; and in the place where it is said to them, "You are not my people," it will be said to them, "Children of the living God."

³¹ God exalted him to his own right hand as Prince and Savior, to give repentance and forgiveness of sins to Israel.

¹² And again, Isaiah says: “The Root of Jesse will appear, even He who rises up to rule over the nations; the Gentiles will place their hope on Him.”

¹⁸ I will not presume to speak of anything except what Christ has accomplished through me in leading the Gentiles to obedience by word and deed,

²⁶ but now revealed and made known through the writings of the prophets by the command of the eternal God, in order to lead all the nations to the obedience that comes from faith—

¹⁰ Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.

¹⁵ Then the seventh angel sounded his trumpet, and there were loud voices in heaven, saying, "The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ, and he will reign for ever and ever."

¹³ And David said to the young man who brought the news to him, Where are you from? And he said, I am the son of an Amalekite sojourner.

³⁰ Rebuke the beasts in the reeds, the herd of bulls with the calves of the peoples, trampling the pieces of silver. Scatter the nations who delight in battles.

¹⁵ The haters of the LORD would cringe before him, and their punishment would last forever.

⁸ the LORD has sworn by his right hand, and by his mighty arm, "Surely I will never again give your grain as food to your enemies, and surely foreigners shall not drink your new wine at which you have labored."

⁷ At your bringing foreigners who are uncircumcised of heart and uncircumcised of flesh to be in my sanctuary to profane it, my temple, as you offered my food, fat, and blood, so you broke my covenant by all of your detestable things.

¹⁶ But not all of them welcomed the good news. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our message?” ¹⁷ Consequently, faith comes of hearing; and hearing, through the word of Christ.

⁴ The earth mourns and withers; the world languishes and withers; the high people of the earth languish:

¹⁷ They will lick the dust like a serpent. Like crawling things of the earth they shall come trembling out of their dens. They will come with fear to the LORD our God, and will be afraid because of you.

¹¹ For the sun rises with scorching heat and withers the plant; its flower falls and its beauty is lost. So too, the rich man will fade away in the midst of his pursuits.

¹⁶ They told the mountains and the rocks, "Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him who sits on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb,

² The LORD is my strength and song. He has become my salvation. This is my God, and I will praise him; my father's God, and I will exalt him.

⁴⁷ The LORD lives. Blessed be my rock. Exalted be God, the rock of my salvation,

¹³ Be exalted, O LORD, in your strength. We will sing and praise your power.

⁵ Lead me in Your truth, and teach me; for You are God my Savior; and I have waited on You all the day.

⁹ I say to God, my rock, "Why have you forgotten me? Why must I walk about mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?"

¹⁴ Rescue me from blood guilt, O God, the God of my deliverance! My tongue shall exult over your righteousness.

⁵ Be exalted, O God, above the heavens; let your glory be above all the earth.

¹¹ Be exalted, O God, above the heavens. Let your glory be over all the earth.

²⁰ Our God is a God of deliverances, and to the the Sovereign LORD belong escapes from death.

⁹ Help us, God of our salvation, for the glory of your name. Deliver us, and forgive our sins, for your name's sake.

⁹ Exalt the LORD our God and worship at his holy mountain, for the LORD our God is holy!

² "Truly God is my salvation! I will trust and not be afraid. the LORD… the LORD is my strength and my song! He has become my salvation."

¹⁰ But the LORD is the true God, he is the living God, and an everlasting king. Because of his wrath the earth quakes, and the nations cannot endure his anger.

⁴⁷ and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior!

¹⁹ And the world will not see me, but you will see me; because I live, you also shall live.

¹⁸ the Living One. I was dead, and behold, now I am alive forever and ever! And I hold the keys of Death and of Hades.

⁴⁸ It is God who avenges me and who brings down the peoples under me,

² The LORD is a jealous God and avenges. The LORD avenges and is full of wrath. The LORD takes vengeance on his adversaries, and he maintains wrath against his enemies.

¹⁹ Do not avenge yourselves, beloved, but leave room for God’s wrath. For it is written: “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay, says the Lord.”

¹⁶ His trouble comes back on his head, and his violence comes down on his skull.

²⁷ All the limits of the earth shall remember and return to the LORD, And all the families of the nations shall bow down before Him." ²⁸ Because the kingship belongs to the LORD, and he rules over the nations. ²⁹ All the fat ones of the earth will eat and worship. All those who go down to the dust will bow before him, even he who cannot keep his soul alive. ³⁰ Posterity shall serve him. Future generations shall be told about the Lord.

¹ For the music director, according to Do Not Destroy. Of David. A miktam. When Saul dispatched men and they watched the house to kill him. Deliver me from my enemies, O my God. Protect me from those who rise up against me. ² Deliver me from evildoers. Save me from the bloodthirsty men.

¹⁴ O God, arrogant people attack me, and a mob of ruthless people seeks my life. They think nothing of you.

¹³ Yours is an arm with mastery; Your hand is strong; Your right hand is exalted.

¹ For the music director. A psalm of David. Rescue me, O LORD, from evil men. Preserve me from violent men,

⁴ Keep me, O LORD, from the hands of the wicked; preserve me from the man of violence, who have purposed to overthrow my steps.

¹¹ Let not the slanderer become established in the land. May evil quickly hunt down the violent man.

⁹ Therefore God exalted Him to the highest place, and gave Him the name above all names,

⁷ Oh that the salvation of Israel would come out of Zion. When the LORD restores the fortunes of his people, may Jacob rejoice, may Israel be glad.

¹² so that I may sing praise to you and not remain silent. LORD, my God, I will give you thanks forever!

¹⁸ Praise be to the LORD God, the God of Israel, who alone does marvelous deeds. ¹⁹ Blessed be to his glorious name forever. May the whole earth be filled with his glory. Amen and amen!

¹ A Song. A Psalm by David. My heart is steadfast, God. I will sing and I will make music with my soul.

³ I will praise you, O LORD, among the people. I will sing praises to you among the nations.

⁴ All the kings of the earth shall praise you, O LORD, when they hear the words of your mouth.

³⁰ When they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.

⁹ so that the Gentiles may glorify God for His mercy. As it is written: “Therefore I will praise You among the Gentiles; I will sing hymns to Your name.”

¹³ I charge you in the sight of God, who gives life to all things, and of Christ Jesus, who in his testimony before Pontius Pilate made the good confession;

¹⁰ Those who contend with the LORD will be broken to pieces. He will thunder against them in heaven. the LORD will judge the ends of the earth and he will give strength to his king and exalt the horn of his anointed.

¹ And the LORD said to Samuel, How long will you mourn for Saul, since I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? Fill your horn with oil and go. I will send you to Jesse of Bethlehem. For I have seen a king for Me among his sons.

¹³ It is he who shall build a house for my name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom for ever.

¹¹ "'When your days are over and you go to be with your fathers, I will raise up your offspring to succeed you. It will be one of your own sons, and I will establish his kingdom. ¹² "'He is the one who will build a house for me. I will establish his throne forever. ¹³ "'I will be his father, and he will be my son. I will never take my love away from him, as I took it away from your predecessor. ¹⁴ "'I will set him over my house and my kingdom forever! His throne will be established forever.'"

²⁷ Now it has pleased you to bless the house of your servant, that it may continue forever before you; for you, LORD, have blessed, and it is blessed forever."

⁶ "But I myself have installed my king on Zion, my holy hill."

⁷¹ From following the suckling-ewes, he brought him to feed Jacob his people, and Israel his inheritance. ⁷² David shepherded them with a devoted heart, and led them with skillful hands.

³ “I have made a covenant with my chosen one, I have sworn to David, my servant, ⁴ I will establish Your seed forever, and build up Your throne to all generations. Selah.

²⁰ I have found David my servant. With my holy oil I have anointed him, ²¹ For My hand shall support him; and My arm shall strengthen him. ²² No enemy will tax him, no wicked man will oppress him. ²³ I will crush his enemies before him and strike those who hate him. ²⁴ My faithfulness and gracious love will be with him, and in my name his power will be exalted. ²⁵ I will place his hand over the sea, and his right hand over the rivers. ²⁶ He will call out to me, 'You are my Father, my God, and the rock of my salvation.' ²⁷ I will also appoint him my firstborn, the highest of the kings of the earth. ²⁸ I will keep my mercy for him for ever; my agreement with him will not be changed. ²⁹ I will establish his dynasty forever, and his throne as long as heaven endures. ³⁰ If his sons forsake my law and do not walk in my judgments, ³¹ if they profane my statutes; and do not keep my commands, ³² then I will punish their sin with the rod, and their iniquity with stripes. ³³ But I will not annul My mercy from him, and I will not be false in My faithfulness. ³⁴ I will not break my covenant, nor alter what my lips have uttered. ³⁵ Once for all I have sworn by my holiness; that I will not be false to David. ³⁶ His offspring will endure forever, and his throne as the sun before me. ³⁷ It will be established forever like the moon, the faithful witness in the sky." Selah. ³⁸ But you have rejected and spurned. You have been angry with your anointed.

¹⁰ For the sake of your servant David do not reject your anointed one.

⁶ For to us a child is born. To us a son is given; and the government will be on his shoulders. His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. ⁷ Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David's throne and over his kingdom. He will establish and uphold it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the LORD Almighty will accomplish this.

³¹ And now, you shall be with child and give birth to a son, and you shall give him the name Jesus. ³² He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, ³³ and He will reign over the house of Jacob forever. His kingdom will never end!”

⁶⁹ He has raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of His servant David,

³⁴ For David did not ascend into the heavens; yet he saith, "The Lord said to my lord, Sit at my right hand, ³⁵ until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet." ' ³⁶ Therefore let all Israel know with certainty that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ!”

³ concerning His Son, who became a physical descendant of David,

²⁹ For God’s gifts and His call are irrevocable.

¹⁶ The promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. The Scripture does not say, “and to seeds,” meaning many, but “and to your seed,” meaning One, who is Christ.

⁹ Therefore God exalted Him to the highest place, and gave Him the name above all names, ¹⁰ that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, ¹¹ and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
