My savior, you save me from violence. ⁴ I call on the LORD, who is worthy to be praised; So shall I be saved from my enemies. ⁵ "The waves of death had surrounded me. The torrents of destruction had overwhelmed me. ⁶ the cords of Sheol are all around me, the snares of death confronted me ⁷ In my distress I called upon the LORD, yea, I called unto my God; and out of His temple He heard my voice, and my cry did enter into His ears. ⁸ And the earth trembled and quoke, and the foundations of heaven moved and shook, because he was angry. ⁹ Smoke from his nostrils ascend and fire from his mouth consumes: coals burn away by it. ¹⁰ He bowed the heavens, and came down: and darkness was under his feet. ¹¹ He rode on a cherub and flew, soaring on the wings of the wind! ¹² And He made darkness coverings around Him, dark waters, thick clouds of the skies. ¹³ From the brightness of his presence, coals of fire were kindled. ¹⁴ the LORD thundered from heaven, the Most High uttered His voice. ¹⁵ "You shot arrows and scattered them. You flashed bolts of lightning and confused them. ¹⁶ The currents of the sea were revealed and the foundations of the world were exposed at the rebuke of the LORD and at the blazing breath from his nostrils! ¹⁷ He sent from on high and took me; He drew me out of many waters: ¹⁸ he rescues me from my strong enemy - from them who hate me - for they are too strong for me. ¹⁹ They approached me on the day of my disaster, but the LORD was my support. ²⁰ He brought me out to a spacious place. He delivered me because he delighted in me. ²¹ the LORD rewarded me according to my righteousness. According to the cleanness of my hands he has rewarded me. ²² For I have kept the ways of the LORD, and have not wickedly departed from my God. ²³ "All your judgments are in front of me. I have not turned away from your laws. ²⁴ I was blameless before him, and I kept myself from my iniquity. ²⁵ Therefore the LORD has rewarded me according to my righteousness, According to my cleanness in his eyesight. ²⁶ With the faithful you show yourself faithful. With the blameless man you show yourself blameless. ²⁷ With the pure you show yourself pure. And with the crooked you show yourself tortuous. ²⁸ You save the nation who is humble but your eyes watch the proud, to bring them down. ²⁹ For you are my lamp, LORD, the LORD who illuminates my darkness. ³⁰ For by you, I run against a troop. By my God, I leap over a wall. ³¹ As for God, his way is perfect. The word of the LORD is pure. He is a shield to all those who take refuge in him. ³² For who is God, except the LORD? And who is a rock, except our God? ³³ This God has girded me with strength, and he makes my way perfect. ³⁴ He makes my feet like the feet of deer, and sets me upon the high places. ³⁵ He trains my hands for the war, so that my arms can bend a bow of bronze. ³⁶ And You give to me the shield of Your salvation, And Your lowliness makes me great. ³⁷ you enlarge my paces under me so that my ankles waver not. ³⁸ I pursued my enemies and conquered them; I didn't return until they were consumed. ³⁹ I wasted them and so clouted them, that they could not arise: but fell under my feet. ⁴⁰ And You gird me [with] strength for battle, You cause my withstanders to bow under me. ⁴¹ You made my enemies turn and run, that is, those who hate me and I destroyed them! ⁴² They cry out, but there was none to save; even to the LORD, but he did not answer them. ⁴³ I beat them small as the dust of the earth; I trampled them like the dirt of highways. ⁴⁴ You delivered me from the strife of my people; you preserved me as the head of the nations. A people I had not known served me. ⁴⁵ Strangers come cringing unto me: At the hearing of the ear, they obey me. ⁴⁶ Foreigners lost their courage, coming trembling from their strongholds. ⁴⁷ The LORD lives. Blessed be my rock. Exalted be God, the rock of my salvation, ⁴⁸ It is God who avenges me and who brings down the peoples under me, ⁴⁹ »You protect me from violent enemies. You made me greater than all of them. ⁵⁰ Therefore I will praise you, LORD, among the nations, and will sing praises to your name. ⁵¹ He gives great deliverance to his king, and shows loving kindness to his anointed, to David and to his descendants, until forever."

¹ Then Moses and the Israelites sang this song to the LORD: "I'll sing to the LORD, for he is highly exalted. The horse and its rider he has thrown into the sea.

¹ In that day Debbora and Barac, son of Abinoem, sung, and said:

¹⁴ David stayed in the wilderness in the strongholds and in the hill country in the wilderness of Ziph. Saul sought him every day, but God didn't deliver him into his hand.

¹⁵ May the LORD therefore be judge, and judge between you and me, and see, and plead my cause, and deliver me out of your hand.

²⁹ And though men have risen up to pursue you and to seek your soul, yet the soul of my lord will be bound in the bundle of life with the LORD your God. And the souls of your enemies, them he will sling out as from the hollow of a sling.

²⁴ And so, as your life was dear to me today, may my life be dear to the Lord, and may he make me free from all my troubles.

¹ David said in his heart, I shall now perish one day by the hand of Saul. There is nothing better for me than that I should escape into the land of the Philistines, then Saul will give up looking for me any more in Israel and I will escape from him.

⁴⁹ »You protect me from violent enemies. You made me greater than all of them.

¹ For the music director. Of David, the servant of the LORD, who spoke to the LORD the words of this song when the LORD delivered him from the hand of all his enemies, and from the hand of Saul. And he said: "I love you, O LORD, my strength." ² the LORD is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge; my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower. ³ I call on the LORD, who is worthy to be praised; and I am saved from my enemies. ⁴ The ropes of death encircled me, and streams of ruin overwhelmed me. ⁵ The cords of the grave surrounded me. The snares of death confronted me. ⁶ (18:7) In my distress I called upon the LORD, and cried unto my God; out of His temple He heard my voice, and my cry came before Him unto His ears. ⁷ Then the earth shook and quaked, and the foundations of the mountains trembled, and they staggered because he was angry. ⁸ Smoke went up from his nostrils. A raging fire came out of his mouth. Glowing coals were kindled by it. ⁹ He lowered the heavens and came down; and darkness was under his feet. ¹⁰ He rode upon a cherub and flew; he soared upon the wings of the wind. ¹¹ But he made darkness his covering, His tent around him was dark water in clouds of air. ¹² Out of the brightness in front of him, those rain clouds passed by with hailstones and lightning. ¹³ Then the Lord thundered from heaven, the Most High uttered his voice: ¹⁴ He sent out his arrows, and scattered them; and he multiplied lightnings, and routed them. ¹⁵ Then the channels of the sea were seen, and the foundations of the world were uncovered at your rebuke, O LORD, at the blast of the breath of your nostrils. ¹⁶ He reached down from high above and took hold of me. He pulled me out of the raging water. ¹⁷ He rescued me from my strong enemy and from those who hated me, because they were too strong for me. ¹⁸ They confronted me on the day of disaster, but the LORD was my support. ¹⁹ So he brought me out to a spacious place. He delivered me because he delighted in me. ²⁰ the LORD has rewarded me according to my righteousness; According to the cleanness of my hands he has repaid me. ²¹ For I have kept the ways of the LORD, And I have not been wicked by turning from my Elohim." ²² All his judgments are in front of me and I have not turned away from his laws. ²³ and I was blameless before him, and I kept myself from my guilt. ²⁴ Therefore the LORD has rewarded me according to my righteousness, according to the cleanness of my hands in his eyesight. ²⁵ With the faithful you show yourself faithful. With the blameless man you show yourself blameless. ²⁶ To the pure you show yourself pure. but to the wicked you show yourself shrewd. ²⁷ You save humble people, but you humiliate the proud. ²⁸ O LORD, you light my lamp. My God turns my darkness into light. ²⁹ For with you I can charge a troop, and with my God I can scale a wall. ³⁰ As for God, his way is perfect. The word of the LORD is pure. He is a shield to all those who take refuge in him. ³¹ For who is God besides the LORD? Or who is a Rock except our God? ³² It is God who girds me with strength and makes my way perfect. ³³ He makes my feet like the feet of female-deers and sets me upon my high places. ³⁴ He trains my hands for war, so that my arms can bend a bow of bronze. ³⁵ You have also given me the shield of your salvation. Your right hand sustains me. Your gentleness has made me great. ³⁶ You widened my steps beneath me, So that my limbs have not tottered." ³⁷ I chased my enemies and overtook them; I did not turn back until they were finished off. ³⁸ I crushed them, and they were not able to rise: they fell under my feet. ³⁹ You armed me with strength for battle. You made my opponents bow at my feet. ⁴⁰ You made my enemies turn their backs to me. I destroyed those who hated me. ⁴¹ They cried, but there was none to save; even to the LORD, but he did not answer them. ⁴² And I ground them like dust in the wind, I emptied them out like mud of the streets. ⁴³ You have delivered me from the strifes of the people. You have made me the head of the nations. A people whom I have not known will serve me. ⁴⁴ As soon as they hear of me, they will obey me. Foreigners will cringe in front of me. ⁴⁵ Foreigners will wilt away; they will come trembling out of their stronghold. ⁴⁶ the LORD lives! Blessed be my rock. Exalted be the God of my salvation, ⁴⁷ He is the God who avenges me, and speaks to people under me. ⁴⁸ He saves me from my enemies. You lift me up above my opponents. You rescue me from violent people. ⁴⁹ Therefore I will praise you, LORD, among the nations, and will sing praises to your name. ⁵⁰ He gives great victories to his king. He shows mercy to his anointed, to David, and to his descendants forever.

¹⁹ A righteous person will have many troubles, but the LORD will deliver him from them all.

¹⁴ Offer thanksgiving to God; and pay your vows to the Most High.

¹ {Of David} Praise the LORD, O my soul, and all that is within me praise his holy name. ² Praise the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits. ³ who forgives all your sins, who heals all your diseases, ⁴ who redeems your life from corruption; who crowns you with mercy and compassion; ⁵ who satisfies your desire with good things, so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's. ⁶ the LORD works righteousness and judgments for all the oppressed.

¹ I love the LORD because he has heard my prayer for mercy; ² Because he has turned his ear to me, therefore I will call on him as long as I live. ³ The cords of death compassed me, and the pains of Sheol gat hold upon me: I found trouble and sorrow ⁴ Then I called on the name of the LORD: "O LORD, please save my life!" ⁵ The LORD is gracious and righteous; our God is compassionate; ⁶ The LORD preserves the simple. I was brought low, and he saved me. ⁷ Return to your rest, O soul; for the LORD has blessed you. ⁸ For You have delivered my soul from death, my eye from tears, my feet from stumbling. ⁹ I will walk before the LORD in the land of the living. ¹⁰ I believed, therefore I said, "I am greatly afflicted." ¹¹ I said in my haste, "All men are liars." ¹² How can I repay the LORD for all the good that he has done for me? ¹³ I will lift up the cup of salvation, and call upon the name of the LORD. ¹⁴ I will fulfill my vows to the LORD in the presence of all his people. ¹⁵ Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints. ¹⁶ LORD, truly I am your servant. I am your servant, the son of your handmaid. You have freed me from my chains. ¹⁷ I will bring you a thanksgiving offering and call on the name of the LORD! ¹⁸ I will fulfill my vows to the LORD in the presence of all his people, ¹⁹ in the courts of the house of the LORD; in your midst, O Jerusalem. Praise the LORD!

¹ In that day you will say: "I will praise you, O LORD. Although you were angry with me, your anger has turned away and you have comforted me. ² "Truly God is my salvation! I will trust and not be afraid. the LORD… the LORD is my strength and my song! He has become my salvation." ³ With joy (gladness) you will draw water from the wells of salvation. ⁴ In that day you will say: "Give thanks to the LORD, call on his name; make known among the nations what he has done, and proclaim that his name is exalted. ⁵ "Sing to the LORD, for he has done glorious things. Let this be known to the entire world. ⁶ "Shout aloud and sing for joy, people of Zion, for great is the Holy One of Israel among you."

¹⁰ He has delivered us from such a deadly peril, and He will deliver us. In Him we have placed our hope that He will yet again deliver us,

¹⁸ The Lord will rescue me from every evil attack and will bring me safely to his heavenly kingdom. To him be the glory for ever and ever. Amen.

⁹ After this I looked, and there was a vast throng that no one could count from every nation, tribe, people, and tongue, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands, ¹⁰ They cried out in a loud voice, "Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the lamb!" ¹¹ And all the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures; and they fell on their faces before the throne and worshipped God, ¹² saying, "Amen! Praise and glory, and wisdom and thanksgiving, and honor and power and strength be to our God forever and ever. Amen!" ¹³ Then one of the elders addressed me: “These in white robes,” he asked, “who are they, and where have they come from?” ¹⁴ I said to him, "Sir, you know." And he said to me, "These are they who have come out of the great tribulation; they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. ¹⁵ Therefore, they are before the throne of God and serve him day and night in his temple; and he who sits on the throne will spread his tent over them. ¹⁶ Never again will they hunger, never again will they thirst, never shall the sun strike them, nor any scorching heat;" ¹⁷ For the Lamb in the center of the throne will be their shepherd, and he will guide them to springs of living water; and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes."

⁴ The Rock: his work is perfect, for all his ways are just. A God of faithfulness who does no wrong, just and right is he.

² There is no one holy like the LORD, indeed there is no one besides you, there is no rock like our God.

³ For you are my rock and my fortress. So, for the sake of your name, lead me and guide me.

⁹ I say to God, my rock, "Why have you forgotten me? Why must I walk about mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?"

³ Be to me a rock of refuge to which I may always go. Give the command to save me, for you are my rock and my fortress.

² I will say of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in whom I trust."

² my loyal love and my fortress, my stronghold and my deliverer, my shield, and one in whom I take refuge, the one who subdues peoples under me.

¹⁸ And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overpower it!

¹ After these things the word of the LORD came to Abram in a vision, saying, "Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your exceedingly great reward."

³⁷ He will say, “Where are their gods, the rock in which they took refuge;

²⁹ How blessed are you, Israel! Who can be like you, a people delivered by the LORD, your shield of help and your finely crafted sword. May your enemies cower before you. You will tread down their high places.

¹ And Hannah prayed, and said, My heart rejoices in the LORD, my horn is exalted in the LORD: my mouth boasts over my enemies; because I rejoice in your salvation.

⁵¹ He gives great deliverance to his king, and shows loving kindness to his anointed, to David and to his descendants, until forever."

³ But you, LORD, are a shield around me, my glory, and the one who lifts up my head.

¹² For You, O LORD, will bless the righteous; You will surround him with favor, as with a shield.

⁹ the LORD is a refuge for the oppressed, a place of safety in times of trouble.

⁶ You would frustrate the plans of the lowly, but the LORD is his refuge.

² the LORD is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge; my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower.

⁵ Because in the day of trouble he will hide me in his shelter. He will hide me in the covering of his tabernacle He will lift me up upon a rock.

⁷ The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and I received help. My heart exalts, and I give thanks to him with my song.

⁷ You are my hiding place. You will preserve me from trouble. You will surround me with songs of deliverance. Selah.

³ For you have been my refuge, a strong tower from the enemy.

⁷ I have become like a portent to many, Yet You are my strong Refuge."

¹⁴ He will redeem their soul from oppression and violence; And precious will their blood be in his sight:

⁹ Look at our shield, O God. Look with favor on the face of your anointed one.

¹¹ For the LORD God is a sun and shield; the LORD will give grace and glory; no good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly.

¹⁴ O God, arrogant people attack me, and a mob of ruthless people seeks my life. They think nothing of you.

⁹ House of Israel, trust in the LORD; He is their Help and their Shield." ¹⁰ O house of Aaron, trust in the LORD: he is their help and their shield. ¹¹ You who fear the LORD, trust in the LORD! He is their helper and shield.

¹ For the music director. A psalm of David. Rescue me, O LORD, from evil men. Preserve me from violent men,

⁴ Keep me, O LORD, from the hands of the wicked; preserve me from the man of violence, who have purposed to overthrow my steps.

¹¹ Let not the slanderer become established in the land. May evil quickly hunt down the violent man.

⁴ Look on my right, and see; for there is no one who is concerned for me. Refuge has fled from me. No one cares for my soul.

¹⁰ The name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous run into it and are safe.

⁵ "Every word of God is flawless. He is a shield to those who take refuge in him.

² "Truly God is my salvation! I will trust and not be afraid. the LORD… the LORD is my strength and my song! He has become my salvation."

² And a man shall be as a hiding-place from the wind, and a covert from the storm; as brooks of water in a dry place, as the shadow of a great rock in a thirsty land.

²¹ Declare and bring near; yea, let them consult together. Who has revealed this of old; who has told it from then? Is it not I, the LORD? And there is no God other than Me; a just God and a Savior; there is none except Me.

⁹ For the Lord of armies, the God of Israel, has said, See, before your eyes and in your days I will put an end in this place to the laughing voices and the voice of joy; to the voice of the newly-married man and the voice of the bride.

¹⁹ O LORD, my strength and my stronghold and my refuge in the day of affliction, to you the nations will come from the ends of the earth and will say, Our fathers have inherited nothing but lies, even vanity and things in which there is no profit.

⁴⁷ and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior!

⁶⁹ He has raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of His servant David,

⁷¹ salvation from our enemies and from the hand of all who hate us,

⁴ But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared,

⁶ whom he poured out on us richly, through Jesus Christ our Savior;

¹³ And again, "I will put my trust in him." And again, "Here am I, and the children God has given me."

⁵ Then the Levites, Jeshua, Kadmiel, Bani, Hashabneiah, Sherebiah, Hodiah, Shebaniah and Pethahiah said, Stand up and bless the LORD your God from everlasting to everlasting! Blessed be Your glorious name, which is exalted above all blessing and praise!

³ I call on the LORD, who is worthy to be praised; and I am saved from my enemies.

⁶ This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles.

¹ Great is the LORD, and highly to be praised, in the city of our God, in his holy mountain

¹⁵ Call on me in the day of trouble. I will deliver you, and you will honor me."

¹⁶ But I call on God, and the LORD saves me.

⁹ Then my enemies will turn back when I call. This I know because God is for me.

¹ Be merciful to me, God, be merciful to me, for my soul takes refuge in you. Yes, in the shadow of your wings, I will take refuge, until disaster has passed. ² I cry out to God Most High, to God who accomplishes my requests for me. ³ He will send from heaven and save me; he will reproach the one who tramples me. Selah God will send his loyal love and his faithfulness.

² Sing forth the glory of his name, make his praise glorious;

⁴ For great is the LORD, and highly to be praised: he is to be feared above all gods

² Who can utter the mighty acts of the LORD, or fully declare all his praise?

² Because he has turned his ear to me, therefore I will call on him as long as I live.

⁴ Then I called on the name of the LORD: "O LORD, please save my life!"

¹³ I will lift up the cup of salvation, and call upon the name of the LORD.

¹⁷ I will bring you a thanksgiving offering and call on the name of the LORD!

¹ Praise the LORD! Praise the LORD from the heavens. Praise him in the heights above. ² Praise him, all his angels: praise him, all his hosts. ³ Praise him, sun and moon; praise him, all you shining stars. ⁴ Praise him, you highest heaven and the water above the sky.

¹³ for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

¹¹ You are worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for you have created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being.

¹² In a loud voice they said: “Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power and riches and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and blessing!”

⁴ The ropes of death encircled me, and streams of ruin overwhelmed me.

¹⁴ Rescue me from the mud and do not let me sink. Rescue me from those who hate me, and from the deep waters. ¹⁵ Do not let the torrent of waters flood over me, or the deep swallow me, or the pit close its mouth over me.

³ The floods have lifted up, O LORD, the floods have lifted up their voice; the floods lift up their pounding waves. ⁴ Mightier than the rumblings of many waters, mightier than the mighty breakers of the sea, the LORD on high is mighty.

¹⁹ That they may revere—From the West the name of the LORD, And from the Rising of the Sun his glory, For he will come in like a rushing stream, the breath of the LORD, driving it on;

⁷ Who is this that rises like the Nile, like the rivers whose waters surge? ⁸ Egypt is rising like the Nile, like rivers whose waters surge. He says, 'I'll rise and cover the land. I'll destroy city and its inhabitants.'

³ For You cast me into the deep, into the heart of the seas, and the current surrounded me; all Your breakers and Your waves passed over me.

³ While people are saying, “Peace and security,” destruction will come upon them suddenly, like labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.

¹⁵ Then from the mouth of the serpent spewed water like a river to overtake the woman and sweep her away in the torrent. ¹⁶ But the earth helped the woman by opening its mouth and swallowing the river that the dragon had spewed from its mouth.

¹ Then one of the seven angels with the seven bowls came and told me, “Come, I will show you the punishment of the great prostitute, who sits on many waters.

¹⁵ He said to me, "The waters which you saw, where the prostitute sits, are peoples, multitudes, nations, and languages.

⁸ "But if men are bound in chains, held fast by cords of affliction,

⁵ The cords of the grave surrounded me. The snares of death confronted me.

³ The cords of death compassed me, and the pains of Sheol gat hold upon me: I found trouble and sorrow

⁵ The proud have hidden a snare for me, they have spread the cords of a net by the path. They have set traps for me. Selah.

²² The evil deeds of the wicked ensnare him. The cords of his sin hold him firmly.

¹⁴ The teaching of the wise is a fountain of life, turning men away from the nets of death.

²⁷ The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, turning people from the snares of death.

² and said, "I called from my distress to the LORD, and he answered me; from the belly of Sheol I cried for help— you heard my voice.

²⁴ But God raised Him from the dead, releasing Him from the agony of death, because it was impossible for Him to be held in its clutches.

⁷ The LORD said, "I have surely seen the affliction of my people who are in Egypt, and have heard their cry because of their taskmasters, for I know their sorrows.

²⁸ Pay attention to the prayer of your servant and to his request, LORD my God, and listen to the cry and prayer that your servant is praying in your presence today. ²⁹ that your eyes be open toward this house night and day - toward the place of which you say, My name is there: to hearken to the prayer your servant prays toward this place: ³⁰ Listen to the supplication of your servant, and of your people Israel, when they pray toward this place. Yes, hear in heaven, your dwelling place; and when you hear, forgive.

⁶ (18:7) In my distress I called upon the LORD, and cried unto my God; out of His temple He heard my voice, and my cry came before Him unto His ears.

⁴ One thing have I asked of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to inquire in his temple

¹⁵ The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous, and his ears are open to their cry. ¹⁶ The face of the LORD is against those who do evil, to cut off the memory of them from the earth. ¹⁷ The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles.

¹ A Song of Ascents. I cried to the LORD in my distress, and he responded to me.

⁴ I said, 'I have been banished from your sight; yet I will look again toward your holy temple.'

⁷ When my life was ebbing away from me, I remembered the LORD, and my prayer came to you, to your holy temple.

²⁰ But the LORD is in his holy temple. Let all the earth be silent before him."

³⁸ Then He said to them, “My soul is consumed with sorrow to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch with Me.” ³⁹ Going a little farther, He fell facedown and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me. Yet not as I will, but as You will.”

⁴⁴ And being in agony, he prayed more earnestly, and his sweat became like drops of blood falling to the ground.

⁷ During the days of Jesus’ earthly life, He offered up prayers and petitions with loud cries and tears to the One who could save Him from death, and He was heard because of His reverence.

⁴ Look, the wages you withheld from the workmen who mowed your fields are crying out against you. The cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord of Hosts.

⁴ the LORD, when you went down from Seir, when you marched from the region of Edom, the earth trembled, the heavens poured down, the clouds poured down water.

¹¹ The pillars of the heavens quake and marvel at his rebuke;

⁷ Then the earth shook and quaked, and the foundations of the mountains trembled, and they staggered because he was angry.

¹⁸ The voice of Your thunder was in the whirlwind, the lightnings lit up the world, the earth trembled and shook.

⁴ His lightning lights up the world. The earth sees, and trembles.

⁵ The mountains quake before him, and the hills melt away. The earth trembles at his presence, yes, the world, and all who dwell in it.

⁶ He stood, and shook the earth. He looked, and made the nations tremble. The ancient mountains crumbled. The age-old hills collapsed. His ways are eternal. ⁷ I saw the tents of Cushan in distress, and the tent curtains of the land of Midian in anguish. ⁸ Was the anger of Yahweh against the rivers? Was your wrath against the rivers, or your fury against the sea, when you mounted upon your horses, upon your victory chariot? ⁹ You uncovered your bow. You called for your sworn arrows. Selah. You split the earth with rivers. ¹⁰ The mountains saw you, and were afraid. The storm of waters passed by. The deep roared and lifted up its hands on high. ¹¹ The sun and moon stood still in their dwelling. At the light of Your arrows they go, at the shining of Your gleaming spear.

⁵¹ At that moment the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth quaked and the rocks were split.

² And there was a great earthquake. For an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and went and rolled the stone back and sat upon it.

³¹ After they had prayed, their meeting place was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly.

⁷ In the greatness of your majesty you broke down your enemies. You sent forth your anger, it consumed them like stubble. ⁸ By the breath of your nostrils the waters were piled up, the flowing waters stood up like a hill, the deep waters congealed in the heart of the sea.

¹⁸ Mount Sinai was all in smoke because the LORD descended upon it in fire. Its smoke ascended like the smoke of a furnace. The whole mountain quaked violently!

¹⁷ To the Israelites the appearance of the glory of the LORD was like a consuming fire on top of the mountain.

²² For a fire has been kindled in My anger, and it burns to the lowest Sheol, and consumes the earth and its produce; and sets on fire the foundations of the mountains.

¹³ From the brightness of his presence, coals of fire were kindled.

¹⁶ The currents of the sea were revealed and the foundations of the world were exposed at the rebuke of the LORD and at the blazing breath from his nostrils!

⁹ By the breath of God they perish, and by the blast of his anger they are consumed.

²⁰ Smoke billows from his nostrils; like a boiling pot or burning reeds. ²¹ His breath kindles coals, and a flame goes forth from his mouth.

⁸ Smoke went up from his nostrils. A raging fire came out of his mouth. Glowing coals were kindled by it.

¹⁵ Then the channels of the sea were seen, and the foundations of the world were uncovered at your rebuke, O LORD, at the blast of the breath of your nostrils.

³ A fire goes before him, and burns up his adversaries on every side. ⁴ His lightning lights up the world. The earth sees, and trembles. ⁵ Mountains melt like wax before the LORD before the LORD of all the earth.

²⁷ Behold, the name of the LORD comes from far, burning with His anger, and uplifting of smoke; His lips are full of fury, and His tongue like a devouring fire.

³³ For a place of fire has long been ready; yes, it has been made ready for the king; he has made it deep and wide: it is massed with fire and much wood; the breath of the Lord, like a stream of fire, puts a light to it.

¹⁴ Therefore thus hath the LORD God of the hosts said: Because ye have spoken this word, behold, I will make my words in thy mouth fire and this people wood, and it shall devour them.

¹⁴ I'll make you serve your enemies in a land you don't know, for my anger has started a fire that will burn against you."

⁵ Plague went before him, and pestilence followed his feet.

²⁹ for our God is a consuming fire.

²¹ The people stayed at a distance, and Moses came near to the thick darkness where God was.

¹¹ And you came near and stood at the foot of the mountain; and the mountain burned with fire unto the midst of heaven, with darkness, clouds, and thick darkness.

¹² Then Solomon said, "The LORD has said that he would dwell in the thick cloud.

² Cloud and thick darkness are surrounding him; righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne.

³ He lays the beams of his chambers in the waters. He makes the clouds his chariot. He walks on the wings of the wind.

⁵ Part your heavens, LORD, and come down. Touch the mountains, and they will smoke.

¹ Oh that You would tear the heavens and come down, that mountains would quake before You. ² Be like the fire that kindles brushwood and makes water boil. Come down to make your name known to your enemies. The nations may tremble in your presence. ³ When you did awe-inspiring things that we did not expect, you came down and the mountains quaked at your presence.

³ the LORD is slow to anger, and great in power, and doth not at all clear [the guilty]: the LORD, -- his way is in the whirlwind and in the storm, and the clouds are the dust of his feet.

⁴⁵ From the sixth hour until the ninth hour darkness came over all the land.

⁴⁴ It was now about the sixth hour, and darkness came over the whole land until the ninth hour. ⁴⁵ For the sun was darkened. And the veil of the temple was torn in two.

²⁴ After he drove the man out, he placed on the east side of the Garden of Eden cherubim and a flaming sword flashing back and forth to guard the way to the tree of life.

¹⁹ "Make one cherub at one end and one cherub at the other end. You shall make the cherubim of one piece with the chest at its two ends.

⁴ So the people sent to Shiloh and they brought from there the ark of the covenant of the LORD Almighty, who sits above the cherubim. And the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, were there with the ark of the covenant of God.

¹⁰ He rode upon a cherub and flew; he soared upon the wings of the wind.

¹⁷ The chariots of God are tens of thousands and thousands of thousands. The Lord is among them, from Sinai, into the sanctuary.

¹ Hear us, Shepherd of Israel, you who lead Joseph like a flock, you who sit above the cherubim, shine forth.

¹ the LORD reigns! Let the nations tremble. He sits enthroned between the cherubim: let the earth be moved.

⁹ If I lift up the wings of the dawn, and I alight on the far side of the sea,

³ And the glory of the God of Israel went up from over the cherubim, upon which he had been, to the threshold of the house. And he called to the man clothed with linen, who had the writer's inkhorn by his side;

² And He spoke to the man clothed with linen, and said, Go in among the wheels, under the cherub, and fill your hands with coals of fire from between the cherubs, and scatter them on the city. And he went in before me. ³ Now the cherubim were standing on the right side of the house, when the man went in: and the cloud filled the inner court. ⁴ And the glory of the LORD lifted up from the cherub, over the threshold of the house. And the house was filled with the cloud. And the court was full of the radiance of the glory of the LORD. ⁵ The sound of the wings of the cherubim was heard even to the outer court, as the voice of God Almighty when he speaks. ⁶ And then at his command to the man clothed in linen, saying, "Take fire from among the wheel area from among the cherubim," he went and stood beside the wheel. ⁷ The cherub stretched out his hand from between the cherubim to the fire that was between the cherubim, and took some of it, and put it into the hands of him who was clothed in linen, who took it and went out. ⁸ And under the wings of the Cherubims, there appeared the likeness of a man's hand. ⁹ And when I looked, behold, four wheels by the cherubim, one wheel by each cherubim; and the colour of the wheels was as a stone of Tarsis or beryl. ¹⁰ As for their appearance, the four of them had one likeness, like a wheel within a wheel. ¹¹ When they moved, they went in any of their four directions without turning as they went. They followed in the direction that they faced, without turning as they went. ¹² And their whole body, and their necks, and their hands, and their wings, and the circles were full of eyes, round about the four wheels. ¹³ As for the wheels, they were called in my hearing, O wheel. ¹⁴ Each one had four faces. The first face was the face of a cherub angel, the second face was the face of a man, the third the face of a lion, and the fourth the face of an eagle.

¹⁴ Are not the angels ministering spirits, sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?

¹⁰ He bowed the heavens, and came down: and darkness was under his feet.

²⁹ "Who can understand how he spreads out the clouds, how he thunders from his pavilion?

¹¹ But he made darkness his covering, His tent around him was dark water in clouds of air. ¹² Out of the brightness in front of him, those rain clouds passed by with hailstones and lightning.

⁹ Smoke from his nostrils ascend and fire from his mouth consumes: coals burn away by it.

⁶ but you, you will belong to me as a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.' These are the words that you will speak to the Israelites."

²⁰ From heaven the stars fought; from their courses they fought against Sisera.

¹⁰ Those who contend with the LORD will be broken to pieces. He will thunder against them in heaven. the LORD will judge the ends of the earth and he will give strength to his king and exalt the horn of his anointed.

¹⁰ While Samuel was sacrificing the burnt offering, the Philistines approached to attack Israel. But that day the LORD thundered against the Philistines and threw them into panic, and they were defeated before Israel.

¹⁷ Isn't it wheat harvest today? I will call to the LORD to send thunder and rain, and you shall know and see that your wickedness is great which you have done in the eyes of the LORD, in asking for a king. ¹⁸ Samuel called upon the LORD that same day, and the LORD sent thunder and rain. So all the people greatly feared the LORD and Samuel.

² Listen carefully to the thunder of His voice, and the rumbling that comes out from His mouth. ³ He releases his lightning throughout the sky, to the ends of the earth. ⁴ After it, his voice roars; it thunders with his majestic voice, and he does not restrain it when his voice is heard. ⁵ God thunders marvelously with His voice; He does great things, and we do not understand.

⁹ "Do you have an arm (power) like God's? Can your voice thunder like his?

³ The voice of the LORD is over the waters; the God of glory thunders. the LORD is over many waters. ⁴ The voice of the LORD is powerful; the voice of the LORD is majestic. ⁵ The voice of the LORD breaks the cedars. Yes, the LORD breaks in pieces the cedars of Lebanon. ⁶ He makes them also to skip like a calf; Lebanon and Sirion like a young, wild ox. ⁷ The voice of the LORD strikes with flashes of lightning. ⁸ The voice of the LORD shakes the wilderness; the LORD shakes the wilderness of Kadesh. ⁹ The voice of the LORD maketh the hinds to calve, and strippeth the forests bare; and in His temple all say: 'Glory.'

¹⁶ The waters saw you, God. The waters saw you, and they writhed. The depths also convulsed. ¹⁷ The clouds poured out water. The skies resounded with thunder. Your arrows also flashed around. ¹⁸ The voice of Your thunder was in the whirlwind, the lightnings lit up the world, the earth trembled and shook. ¹⁹ Your way was through the sea; your paths through the great waters. Your footsteps were not known.

³⁰ And the LORD shall make the majesty of His voice heard; and He shows His arm coming down with raging anger and flame of consuming fire, cloudburst and storm, and hailstones.

⁵ The sound of the wings of the cherubim was heard even to the outer court, as the voice of God Almighty when he speaks.

¹⁹ Then God's temple in heaven was opened, and within his temple was seen the ark of his covenant; and there were flashes of lightning, voices, peals of thunder, an earthquake and a great hailstorm.

²³ I will heap evils upon them, and will spend my arrows among them.

¹⁰ the LORD threw them into confusion before Israel. They were killed in a great battle at Gibeon. They were chased along the road that goes up to Beth-horon. They were slaughtered all the way to Azekah, and Makkedah.

¹² If a man doesn't relent, he will sharpen his sword; he has bent and strung his bow. ¹³ He has also prepared for himself deadly weapons. He makes ready his flaming arrows.

¹⁴ He sent out his arrows, and scattered them; and he multiplied lightnings, and routed them.

⁵ your arrows are sharp in the heart of the king's enemies; whereby the people fall under you.

⁶ Send forth lightning and scatter the enemy, shoot your arrows and confuse them. ⁷ Stretch out your hands from on high; Rescue me and deliver me from many waters, from the hand of foreigners,

¹¹ The sun and moon stood still in their dwelling. At the light of Your arrows they go, at the shining of Your gleaming spear.

²¹ Moses stretched out his hand over the sea. the LORD swept the sea back by a strong east wind all night and turned the sea into dry land. The waters were divided. ²² The Israelites went through the middle of the sea on dry ground. The water stood like a wall on their right and on their left. ²³ The Egyptians pursued them. Pharaoh's horses, chariots, and cavalry followed them into the sea. ²⁴ Just before dawn, the LORD looked down from the column of fire and smoke and threw the Egyptian camp into a panic. ²⁵ He made the wheels of their chariots wobble so that they drove them with difficulty. The Egyptians said, "Let's flee from Israel because the LORD is fighting for them and against us." ²⁶ And the LORD said to Moses, Stretch out your hand over the sea, that the waters may come again on the Egyptians, on their chariots, and on their horsemen. ²⁷ Moses held out his hand over the sea. At daybreak the water returned to its normal level. The Egyptians tried to escape from the water. But the LORD threw them into the sea.

⁸ By the breath of your nostrils the waters were piled up, the flowing waters stood up like a hill, the deep waters congealed in the heart of the sea. ⁹ The enemy said, I will pursue, I will overtake, I will divide the spoil; my soul shall be filled with them; I will draw my sword; my hand will destroy them. ¹⁰ You blew with your breath, and the sea covered them; they sank like lead in the mighty waters.

¹¹ when I said: 'This far you may come and no farther'; here is where your proud waves halt?

¹⁵ Then the channels of the sea were seen, and the foundations of the world were uncovered at your rebuke, O LORD, at the blast of the breath of your nostrils. ¹⁶ He reached down from high above and took hold of me. He pulled me out of the raging water. ¹⁷ He rescued me from my strong enemy and from those who hated me, because they were too strong for me.

¹ A maskil of Asaph. Why, O God, have you rejected us forever? Why does your anger smoke against the sheep of your pasture?

⁹ He rebuked the Red Sea also, and it was dried up; so he led them through the depths, as through a desert.

³ The sea looked and fled; the Jordan turned back; ⁴ The mountains skipped like rams, the hills like lambs. ⁵ What was it, you sea, that you fled? You Jordan, that you turned back? ⁶ O mountains, that you skipped like rams? O hills, like lambs? ⁷ Tremble, you earth, at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the God of Jacob,

⁴ He rebukes the sea and he dries up the rivers; he makes all the rivers run dry. Bashan and Carmel wither; the blossom of Lebanon languishes.

⁸ Was the anger of Yahweh against the rivers? Was your wrath against the rivers, or your fury against the sea, when you mounted upon your horses, upon your victory chariot? ⁹ You uncovered your bow. You called for your sworn arrows. Selah. You split the earth with rivers. ¹⁰ The mountains saw you, and were afraid. The storm of waters passed by. The deep roared and lifted up its hands on high.

²⁶ “You of little faith,” Jesus replied, “why are you so afraid?” Then He got up and rebuked the winds and the sea, and it was perfectly calm. ²⁷ The men were amazed and asked, “What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the sea obey Him!”

¹⁰ The child grew, and she brought him to Pharaoh's daughter, and he became her son. She named him Moses, and said, "Because I drew him out of the water."

¹⁶ He reached down from high above and took hold of me. He pulled me out of the raging water.

⁶ For this, let everyone who is godly pray to you in a time when you may be found. Surely when the great waters overflow, they shall not reach to him.

¹ For the music director, according to Do Not Destroy. Of David. A miktam. When Saul dispatched men and they watched the house to kill him. Deliver me from my enemies, O my God. Protect me from those who rise up against me. ² Deliver me from evildoers. Save me from the bloodthirsty men.

⁴ Then the flood waters would have overwhelmed us, the torrent would have flooded over us; ⁵ the swollen waters would have swept us away.

¹ A song of ascents. Out of the depths I call to you, O LORD.

⁷ Stretch out your hands from on high; Rescue me and deliver me from many waters, from the hand of foreigners,

² When you pass through the waters, I will be with you, and through the rivers, they will not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned, and flame will not scorch you.

⁵⁴ Waters flowed over my head; then I said, I am cut off.

¹ Then David spoke to the LORD the words of this song, on the day the LORD delivered him from the hand of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul.

⁷ Arise, LORD. Save me, my God. For you slap all my enemies in the face. You break the teeth of the wicked.

¹⁷ But the Lord stood at my side and gave me strength, so that through me the message might be fully proclaimed and all the Gentiles might hear it. And I was rescued from the lion's mouth.

¹¹ Saul sent messengers to David's house to watch him and to kill him in the morning. Michal, David's wife, told him, If you don't save your life tonight, tomorrow you will be killed. ¹² So Michal let David down through the window. He fled and escaped. ¹³ Michal took an idol and laid it in the bed, put a pillow of goats' hair at its head, and covered it with the clothes. ¹⁴ When Saul sent the messengers to take David, Michal said, "He's sick." ¹⁵ And Saul sent the messengers to see David, saying, Bring him up to me in the bed so that I may kill him. ¹⁶ And when the men came in, there was the image in the bed, with the cushion of goat's hair at its head ¹⁷ Saul said to Michal, Why have you deceived me like this and let my enemy go, so that he has escaped? Michal answered Saul, He said to me, 'Let me go! Why should I kill you?'.

²⁶ Saul went on one side of the mountain, and David and his men went on the other side of the mountain. David was hurrying to get away from Saul, while Saul and his men were closing in on David and his men to capture them. ²⁷ And a messenger came to Saul, saying, Hurry and come! For the Philistines have invaded the land.

¹⁰ But Absalom sent spies throughout all the tribes of Israel, saying, As soon as you hear the sound of the trumpet, then you will say, Absalom is king in Hebron. ¹¹ Meanwhile, 200 men left Jerusalem with Absalom. They had been invited to go along, but were innocent, not knowing anything about what was happening. ¹² Absalom was offering sacrifices. He sent for Ahithophel, David's adviser, to come from his home in Giloh. Meanwhile, the conspiracy grew stronger. The number of people siding with Absalom kept getting larger. ¹³ A messenger came to David, saying, "The hearts of the men of Israel are after Absalom."

¹⁸ They confronted me on the day of disaster, but the LORD was my support. ¹⁹ So he brought me out to a spacious place. He delivered me because he delighted in me.

⁴ Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me. Your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

²⁰ You who have caused me to see many troubles and evils, you will again revive me. And from the depths of the earth you will again bring me up. ²¹ You will increase my honor and comfort me once again.

¹⁰ All the nations surrounded me, but in the name of the LORD, I cut them off. ¹¹ They surrounded me, yes, they surrounded me. In the name of the LORD I indeed cut them off. ¹² They surrounded me like bees but they are quenched like the burning thorns. In the name of the LORD I cut them off. ¹³ I was pushed, yea pushed so as to fall, Yet the LORD, He helped me."

¹⁹ But your dead will live. Their bodies will rise. You, who dwell in the dust, wake up and shout for joy. Your dew is like the dew of the morning; the earth will give birth to her dead.

¹⁰ Who among you fears the LORD, who obeys the voice of His servant, who walks in darkness and has no light? Let him trust in the name of the LORD and rest on his God.

³⁹ And those who passed by hurled insults at him, wagging their heads ⁴⁰ and saying, “You who are going to destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days, save Yourself! If You are the Son of God, come down from the cross!” ⁴¹ In the same way the Chief Priests, with the Teaches of the Law and Councillors, said in mockery: ⁴² "He saved others," they said, "but he cannot save himself! He the 'king of Israel'! Let him come down now from the cross; then we will believe in him! ⁴³ He trusts in God. Let God deliver him now, if he wants him; for he said, 'I am the Son of God.'" ⁴⁴ In the same way even the robbers who were crucified with him insulted him.

²² He moved on from there and dug another well. They did not quarrel over this one. So he named it Rehoboth (Roomy). He said: "Now the LORD has made room for us. We will prosper in this land."

²⁶ But if he says, I have no delight in you: then, here I am; let him do to me what seems good to him.

¹⁰ Jabez cried out to the God of Israel: Oh, that you would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain. And God granted his request.

⁸ "He trusts in the LORD; let him deliver him. Let him rescue him, since he delights in him."

⁸ You have not handed me over to the hand of the enemy. You have set my feet in a large place.

⁵ In my distress I called to the LORD; he answered me and set me free.

¹¹ the LORD takes pleasure in those who fear him, the ones who hope for his loyal love.

⁴ For the LORD takes pleasure in his people. He crowns the humble with salvation.

¹ "Look my servant, whom I uphold, my chosen one in whom my soul delights. I have put my Spirit on him; he will bring justice to the nations.

¹⁶ For Israel is stubborn like a stubborn heifer; now shall the LORD feed them as a lamb in a large place?

¹⁷ and lo! a voice from heaven said,"This is my son, the Beloved, in whom I am well pleased."

⁵ While Peter was still speaking, a bright cloud enveloped them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Listen to Him!”

⁴³ He trusts in God. Let God deliver him now, if he wants him; for he said, 'I am the Son of God.'"

³² God has raised this Jesus to life, to which we are all witnesses. ³³ Exalted, then, to the right hand of God, He has received from the Father the promised Holy Spirit and has poured out what you now see and hear. ³⁴ For David did not ascend into the heavens; yet he saith, "The Lord said to my lord, Sit at my right hand, ³⁵ until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet." ' ³⁶ Therefore let all Israel know with certainty that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ!”

²³ The LORD reward every man's righteousness and faith: for the LORD delivered thee into my hand this day, but I would not lay my hand upon the LORD's anointed.

²⁵ Therefore the LORD has rewarded me according to my righteousness, According to my cleanness in his eyesight.

³² then hear in heaven, and act, and judge your servants, condemning the wicked, to bring his way on his own head, and justifying the righteous, to give him according to his righteousness.

⁹ »Yet, the righteous person clings to his way, and the one with clean hands grows stronger.

³ O LORD my God, if I have done this, if there is wrong in my hands, ⁴ if I have rewarded evil to him who was at peace with me, or oppressed my enemy without cause,

⁸ the LORD shall judge the people; judge me, O LORD, according to my righteousness, and according to my integrity on me.

²⁰ the LORD has rewarded me according to my righteousness; According to the cleanness of my hands he has repaid me. ²¹ For I have kept the ways of the LORD, And I have not been wicked by turning from my Elohim." ²² All his judgments are in front of me and I have not turned away from his laws. ²³ and I was blameless before him, and I kept myself from my guilt. ²⁴ Therefore the LORD has rewarded me according to my righteousness, according to the cleanness of my hands in his eyesight. ²⁵ With the faithful you show yourself faithful. With the blameless man you show yourself blameless.

¹¹ Moreover by them is your servant warned. In keeping them there is great reward.

⁴ He that has clean hands, and a pure heart; who has not lifted up his soul to vanity, nor sworn deceitfully.

⁵⁸ Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast and immovable. Always excel in the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.

⁸ Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double minded.

¹⁹ For I know him that he will command his children and his household after him, that they keep the way of the LORD, to do after right and conscience, that the LORD may bring upon Abraham that he hath promised him."

¹⁵ Moses was very angry, and said to the LORD, "Do not respect their offering: I have not taken one donkey from them, neither have I hurt one of them."

³ Here I am. Witness against me before the LORD, and before his anointed. Whose ox have I taken? Whose donkey have I taken? Whom have I defrauded? Whom have I oppressed? Of whose hand have I taken a bribe to make me blind my eyes? I will restore it to you.”

¹⁰ But he knows the way that I take: when he has tested me, I shall come forth as gold. ¹¹ My foot has held fast to his steps. I have kept his way, and not turned aside. ¹² "I have not departed from the command of his lips. I have treasured the words of his mouth more than my necessary food.

³ The words of his mouth are wickedness and deceit. He has ceased to be wise and to do good.

¹ ALEPH. Blessed are those whose ways are blameless, who walk according to the law of the LORD.

⁵ And those who turn aside to their crooked ways, the LORD shall lead them with the evildoers. Peace be upon Israel.

¹ A song of ascents. Blessed is everyone who fears the LORD, who walks in his ways.

³² Now therefore, my sons, listen to me, for blessed are those who keep my ways.

⁶ and those who turned back from following the LORD, and who did not seek the LORD, and did not inquire of him."

¹⁰ "If you obey my commands you will abide in my love, just as I have obeyed my Father's commands and abide in his love.

¹² And this is our boast: Our conscience testifies that we have conducted ourselves in the world, and especially in relation to you, in the holiness and sincerity that are from God—not in worldly wisdom, but in the grace of God.

³⁸ But my righteous one will live by faith, and if he shrinks back, my soul is not well pleased with him." ³⁹ But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who have faith and keep their souls.

¹ "These are the commands, decrees and laws the LORD your God commanded me to teach you. Obey them after you enter the land and take possession of it. ² so that you, your children, and your grandchildren may fear the LORD your God. Keep all his decrees and commandments that I'm giving you every day of your life, so you may live a long time.

⁶ These words, which I command you today, shall be on your heart; ⁷ Repeat them to your sons, and speak of them when you sit in your house, when you walk on the road, when you lie down and when you arise. ⁸ Tie them as reminders on your forearm, bind them on your forehead, ⁹ and write them on the door frames of your house and on your gates."

¹² "If you listen to these rules and faithfully obey them, the LORD your God will keep his covenant with you and be merciful to you, as he swore to your fathers.

¹¹ Be careful! Otherwise, you will forget the LORD your God by failing to keep his commands, ordinances, and statutes that I'm commanding you this day.

⁸ The precepts of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; the commands of the LORD are pure, giving light to the eyes. ⁹ The fear of the LORD is clean, standing forever. The judgments of the LORD are true; they are altogether righteous.

⁶ Then I would not be ashamed when I look to all your commands.

¹³ With my lips I recount All the ordinances from Your mouth.

³⁰ I have chosen the way of truth. I have set your ordinances before me.

⁸⁶ All Your commands are faithful; they persecute me with lying; help me!

¹⁰² I have not departed from your judgments: for you have taught me.

¹²⁸ Therefore I consider all of your precepts to be right. I hate every false way.

⁶ They were both upright in the sight of God, blamelessly observing all the Lord's commands and requirements.

¹⁴ You are my friends, if you do what I command you.

⁹ This is the ACCOUNT OF NOAH. Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time. He walked with God.

¹ Abram was ninety-nine years old. the LORD appeared to him and said: "I am God Almighty. Walk before me and be blameless.

¹ There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job. That man was blameless and upright, and one who feared God, and turned away from evil.

⁶ Behold, you desire truth in the inward parts. You teach me wisdom in the inmost place.

²³ Above all else, guard thy heart; for out of it flows the issues of life.

⁴⁷ When Jesus saw Nathanael approaching, He said of him, “Here is a true Israelite, in whom there is no deceit.”

¹¹ Therefore, since we know what it means to fear the Lord, we try to persuade men. What we are is clear to God, and I hope it is clear to your conscience as well.

⁴ For He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world to be holy and blameless in His presence. In love

¹ Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off every encumbrance and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with endurance the race set out for us.

²¹ the LORD rewarded me according to my righteousness. According to the cleanness of my hands he has rewarded me.

²¹ For the ways of man are before the LORD's eyes. He examines all his paths.

¹⁰ Say you to the righteous, that it shall be well with him: for they shall eat the fruit of their deeds.

⁷ To those who by perseverance in doing good seek glory, honor, and immortality, He will give eternal life. ⁸ But for those who are self-seeking and who reject the truth and follow wickedness, there will be wrath and anger.

¹⁰ For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive his due for the things done in the body, whether good or bad.

⁷ Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.

¹³ For judgment without mercy will be shown to anyone who has not been merciful. Mercy triumphs over judgment.

¹¹ Now I know that the LORD is greater than all gods because of the way that they treated people arrogantly.”

²³ And if over these things you should not be corrected, but should go to me sideways, ²⁴ I also will walk contrary to you, and will strike you seven times for your sins. ²⁵ I will bring the sword on you avenging the vengeance of the covenant. When you will be gathered into your cities then I will send the plague into your midst, and you will be given into the hand of the enemy. ²⁶ When I break your staff of bread, ten women will bake your bread in one oven and they will deliver your bread again by weight and you will eat and not be satisfied. ²⁷ "'If in spite of this you do not listen to me and still resist me, ²⁸ then I will go against you in hostile anger, and also I myself will discipline you seven times for your sins.

⁵⁸ If you will not observe to do all the words of this law that are written in this book, that you may fear this glorious and fearful name, the LORD your God, ⁵⁹ then he will inflict extraordinary plagues on you and your children, great and lasting plagues, and severe and lasting illnesses. ⁶⁰ "He will bring all the diseases of Egypt that you dreaded. They will cling to you. ⁶¹ "the LORD will also bring you every kind of sickness and plague not written in this Book of the Law. They will continue until you are dead.

²⁶ To the pure you show yourself pure. but to the wicked you show yourself shrewd.

⁹ Woe to him who fights with the One who formed him! A potsherd among the potsherds of the earth! Shall the clay say to its former, What are you making? Or does your work say, He has no hands?

⁸ Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.

⁷ The LORD said, "I have surely seen the affliction of my people who are in Egypt, and have heard their cry because of their taskmasters, for I know their sorrows. ⁸ I have come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land to a good and large land, to a land flowing with milk and honey; to the place of the Canaanite, the Hittite, the Amorite, the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite.

¹⁴ For this time I will send all my plagues against your heart, against your officials, and against your people; that you may know that there is no one like me in all the earth. ¹⁵ For now I would have stretched out my hand, and struck you and your people with pestilence, and you would have been cut off from the earth; ¹⁶ but indeed for this purpose I have raised you up, to show you my power, and that my name may be proclaimed in all the earth; ¹⁷ Do you still exalt yourself against My people, that you will not let them go?

³ Moses and Aaron went in to Pharaoh, and said to him, "This is what the LORD, the God of the Hebrews, says: 'How long will you refuse to humble yourself before me? Let my people go, that they may serve me.

¹¹ "Unleash the fury of your wrath, look at every proud man and bring him low! ¹² "Look at every proud man and humble him, crush the wicked where they stand.

⁵ Because of the oppression of the weak and because of the groaning of the needy, I will now arise, says the LORD; I will set him in safety from those who malign him.

¹² For he will deliver the needy who crieth, and the afflicted, who hath no helper; ¹³ He will have pity on the poor and needy, he will save the needy persons.

⁶ Though the LORD is high, yet He looks upon the lowly; but the proud He knows from afar.

¹² I know that the lord shall deal with the case of the poor, and the cause of the needy.

⁴ Lofty eyes, and a proud heart, the lamp of the wicked, is sin.

¹¹ The lofty looks of man shall be humbled, and the pride of men shall be bowed down, and the LORD alone shall be exalted in that day. ¹² For the day of the LORD Almighty shall be on all the proud and lofty ones, and on all that is lifted up; and it will be abased;

¹⁷ And every man shall be brought low, and the pride of men shall fall: and the Lord alone shall be exalted in that day.

¹⁵ So man is brought low, mankind is humbled, and the eyes of the arrogant ones are humbled;

²³ "Who is it you have insulted and blasphemed? Against whom have you raised your voice and lifted your eyes in pride? It is against the Holy One of Israel!

²⁸ »I know where you stay and when you come and go and how you rage against me. ²⁹ "For the reason that you rage against me and because your insolence (arrogance) has reached my ears, I will put my hook in your nose and my bit in your mouth. I will make you return by the way you came."

¹ The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me; because the LORD has anointed me to preach good news to the humble. He has sent me to bind up the broken hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and release to those who are bound; ² to proclaim the year of the LORD's favor, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all who mourn; ³ to give for those in mourning in Zion, to give them a head wrap instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, a garment of praise instead of a faint spirit. And they will be called oaks of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, to show his glory.

⁹ In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them. In his love and in his pity he redeemed them. He bore them, and carried them all the days of old.

³⁷ Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and exalt and honor the King of heaven, all whose works are truth and His ways judgment. And those who walk in pride He is able to humble.

³ "Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

⁶ But He gives us more grace. This is why it says: “God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” ⁷ Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

⁵ Young men, in the same way, submit yourselves to your elders. And all of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because, “God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” ⁶ Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time,

¹⁷ And Abishai son of Zeruiah helped him, and he struck the Philistine and killed him. Then the men of David swore by an oath, saying, You shall not come forth still with us into battle, that in no way the lamp of Israel should be extinguished.

³ when his lamp shone upon my head, and by his light I walked through darkness,

⁶ Many say, “Who will show us any good?” Yahweh, let the light of your face shine on us.

²⁸ O LORD, you light my lamp. My God turns my darkness into light.

¹ The LORD is my light and my salvation. Whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life. Of whom shall I be afraid?

¹¹ Light is sown for the righteous, and joy for the upright in heart.

⁴ Risen—in darkness, is light to the upright, The gracious and compassionate and righteous.

¹⁹ The sun will be no more your light by day; nor will the brightness of the moon give light to you, but the LORD will be your everlasting light, and your God will be your glory. ²⁰ Your sun will no more go down, nor your moon withdraw; for the LORD will be your everlasting light, and the days of your mourning will be ended.

⁹ I will bear the rage of Yahweh, for I have sinned against him, until he pleads my cause and executes my justice. He will bring me out to the light; I will see his righteousness.

² But for you who revere my name, the sun of righteousness will rise, with healing in its wings, and you will go out and leap like fattened calves.

¹² Once again, Jesus spoke to the people and said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows Me will never walk in the darkness, but will have the light of life.”

⁴⁶ I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in Me should remain in darkness.

²³ The city does not need the sun nor the moon to shine in it, for the glory of God lighted it, and the Lamb is its lamp.

²⁹ For with you I can charge a troop, and with my God I can scale a wall.

¹⁰ All the nations surrounded me, but in the name of the LORD, I cut them off. ¹¹ They surrounded me, yes, they surrounded me. In the name of the LORD I indeed cut them off. ¹² They surrounded me like bees but they are quenched like the burning thorns. In the name of the LORD I cut them off.

³⁷ No, in all these things, we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.

¹³ I can do anything through him who gives me strength.

³ God is my rock in whom I take refuge; my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge. My savior, you save me from violence.

⁷ I will tell of the decree. The LORD said to me, "You are my son. Today I have become your father.

⁶ The Words of the LORD are pure Words, like silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.

³⁰ As for God, his way is perfect. The word of the LORD is pure. He is a shield to all those who take refuge in him.

² Take hold of shield and buckler, and stand up for my help.

⁴ He will cover you with his feathers. Under his wings you will take refuge. His faithfulness is your shield and rampart.

¹⁴⁰ Your promises have been thoroughly tested, and your servant loves them.

⁴⁸ Be perfect, therefore, as your Heavenly Father is perfect.

³ and they sang the song of Moses, the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, "Great and marvelous are your deeds, O Lord God the Almighty! Just and true are your ways, O King of the ages!

³¹ For their rock isn't like our Rock, as even our enemies admit.

³⁹ See, now, that I, even I am he, and there is not a god besides me; I put to death and I give life; I wound and I heal; there is not one who delivers from my hand!

² And he said: "the LORD is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer. ³ God is my rock in whom I take refuge; my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge. My savior, you save me from violence.

⁶ the LORD says thus, the King of Israel and his Redeemer, the LORD Almighty: I am the first and I am the last and besides me there is no God.

⁸ "'Do not tremble. Do not be afraid. Did I not proclaim this and foretell it long ago? You are my witnesses! Is there any God besides me? No, there is no other Rock. There is not one!'"

⁵ I am the LORD, and there is no other. Besides me, there is no God. I will strengthen you, though you have not known me; ⁶ So that they know from the rising of the sun, And from the west, that there is none besides Me, I am the LORD, and there is none else,

⁶ There is no one like you, O Lord; you are great and your name is great in power. ⁷ Who would not revere you, O king of the nations? For you it is fitting. For among all the wise men of the nations, and in all their kingdoms, there is none like you.

¹⁶ The Portion of Jacob is not like them; for He is the Maker of all things; and Israel is the rod of His inheritance. the LORD Almighty is His name.

² The LORD is my strength and song. He has become my salvation. This is my God, and I will praise him; my father's God, and I will exalt him.

¹³ You must be blameless before the LORD your God.

² And he said: "the LORD is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer. ³ "Is it any pleasure to the Almighty if you are righteous? Is it profitable to him if you make your ways blameless?

³² It is God who girds me with strength and makes my way perfect.

⁷ The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and I received help. My heart exalts, and I give thanks to him with my song. ⁸ The LORD is the strength of his people. He is a stronghold of salvation to his anointed.

³ For you are my rock and my fortress. So, for the sake of your name, lead me and guide me. ⁴ Pull me from the net they hide for me; for you are my stronghold:

² I will be careful to live a blameless life. When will you come to me? I will walk within my house with a blameless heart.

⁶ My eyes will be upon the faithful of the land, that they may dwell with me. He who walks in a perfect way, he will minister to me.

¹⁰ "'Do not fear for I am with you! Do not be dismayed for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.'

¹² I will make them strong in the LORD, and in his name they will walk, declares the LORD.

⁹ But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest on me.

¹⁰ Finally, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power.

²¹ equip you with every good thing to do His will. And may He accomplish in us what is pleasing in His sight through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.

¹³ "He made him ride on the heights of the earth and fed him with the produce of the fields. He gave him honey from rocks and olive oil from solid rock.

²⁵ May your shoe latches be iron and bronze, and your days as your strength.

¹⁸ The three sons of Zeruiah were there, Joab, Abishai and Asahel: and Asahel was as swift of foot as a wild gazelle.

¹⁶ This man will dwell on the heights. His refuge will be the mountain fortress. His bread will be supplied, and he will have water.

¹⁴ then you shall delight yourself in the LORD. And I will cause you to ride on the heights of the earth, and make you eat with the inheritance of your father Jacob. For the mouth of the LORD has spoken.

¹⁹ The LORD, the Lord, is my strength. He makes my feet like deer's feet, and enables me to go in high places. For the music director, on my stringed instruments.

³³ He makes my feet like the feet of female-deers and sets me upon my high places. ³⁴ He trains my hands for war, so that my arms can bend a bow of bronze.

⁹ He makes wars cease to the end of the earth. He breaks the bow, and shatters the spear. He burns the chariots in the fire.

¹ By David. Blessed is the LORD my rock, who is teaching My hands for war, my fingers for battle.

³ And I will destroy your bow from your left hand, and your arrows from your right hand.

⁹ And those who are living in the towns of Israel will go out and make fires of the instruments of war, burning the body-covers and the breastplates, the bows and the arrows and the sticks and the spears, and for seven years they will make fires of them: ¹⁰ And they shall not take wood out of the field and shall not cut down out of the forest. For they shall burn the weapons with fire. And they shall plunder those who plundered them, and rob those who robbed them, declares the Sovereign LORD.

² "I will make you into a great nation. I will bless you. I will make your name great. You will be a blessing.

¹⁷ '"I will certainly bless you and make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and the grains of sand on the seashore. Your descendants will take possession of their enemies' cities.

³⁵ You have also given me the shield of your salvation. Your right hand sustains me. Your gentleness has made me great.

¹⁴ May the LORD give you increase, you and your children.

¹⁶ In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.

⁹ He will keep the feet of his saints, and the wicked shall be silent in darkness; for by strength shall no man prevail.

¹ For the Chief Musician; on stringed instruments. A Psalm by David. Answer me when I call, God of my righteousness. Give me relief from my distress. Have mercy on me, and hear my prayer.

⁵ My steps have held fast to your paths. My feet have not slipped.

³⁶ You widened my steps beneath me, So that my limbs have not tottered."

¹⁸ When I thought, "My foot is slipping," your loyal love, O LORD, supported me.

³ He will not give your foot to slip; He who keeps you will not slumber.

¹² When you go, your steps will not be hampered. When you run, you will not stumble.

¹⁸ Now the Philistines had come, and they spread out in the Valley of Rephaim. ¹⁹ David asked the LORD: "Shall I attack the Philistines? Will you hand them over to me?" the LORD answered David: "Attack! I will certainly deliver the Philistines to you." ²⁰ And David came to Baal Pharisim: and defeated them there, and he said, The Lord hath divided my enemies before me, as waters are divided. Therefore the name of the place was called Baal Pharisim. ²¹ The Philistines abandoned their idols there, and David and his army carried them off. ²² Once again the Philistines came up and spread out in the Valley of Rephaim. ²³ When David inquired of the LORD, he said, “You shall not go up. Circle around behind them, and attack them in front of the mulberry trees. ²⁴ When you hear the sound of marching coming from the tops of the balsam trees, then be sure to act quickly, since the LORD will have gone out ahead of you to cut down the Philistine army. ²⁵ David did so, as the LORD commanded him, and struck the Philistines all the way from Geba to Gezer.

¹ It happened afterwards that David attacked the Philistines and subdued them, and he took Metheg Ammah from the hands of the Philistines. ² He struck Moab, and measured them with the line, making them to lie down on the ground; and he measured two lines to put to death, and one full line to keep alive. The Moabites became servants to David, and brought tribute.

¹³ David earned a reputation when he returned from striking down eighteen thousand men of the Syrians in the Valley of Salt. ¹⁴ He erected garrisons throughout Edom, and all the Edomites became subservient to David, while the LORD gave victory to David wherever he went.

¹⁴ When the Ammonites saw that Aram had fled, they fled from before Abishai and entered the city. Then Joab returned from fighting against the Ammonites and came to Jerusalem.

⁸ Your hand will find all your enemies, your right hand will find those who hate you. ⁹ When you appear, you will set them ablaze like a fire furnace. In his wrath, the LORD will consume them, and the fire will devour them.

³⁷ I chased my enemies and overtook them; I did not turn back until they were finished off.

¹ A Psalm by David. the LORD says to my Lord, Sit at My right hand, until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet.

⁵ The Lord is at your right hand. He will crush kings in the day of his wrath. ⁶ He will judge among the nations. He will heap up dead bodies. He will crush the ruler of the whole earth.

¹ "For look! The day is about to come, burning like an oven, and all the arrogant and every evildoer will be stubble. The coming day will consume them," says the LORD of hosts. "It will not leave behind for them root or branch.

³ You will trample down the wicked, for they will be ashes under the soles of your feet on the day that I am going to act," says the LORD of hosts.

⁴⁹ He put his hand into his bag, took out a stone and slung it and struck the Philistine on his forehead. The stone sank into his forehead and he fell on his face to the ground. ⁵⁰ So David triumphed over the Philistine with a sling and a stone, and struck the Philistine and killed him without a sword in his hand. ⁵¹ David ran and stood over the Philistine. He took the Philistine's sword, pulled it from its sheath, killed him, and then he cut off his head with it. When the Philistines saw that their champion was dead, they fled.

⁵ David and his men went to Keilah and fought the Philistines. He carried off their livestock and defeated them decisively, and so David delivered the inhabitants of Keilah.

³⁹ You armed me with strength for battle. You made my opponents bow at my feet.

⁵ Through you we push down our tribulators; through your name we trample them who rise against us.

⁵ I am the LORD, and there is no other. Besides me, there is no God. I will strengthen you, though you have not known me;

¹⁴ "The sons of those who oppress you will bow in front of you. All who loathe you will bow at your feet. They will call you the city of the LORD, Zion, the city of the Holy One of Israel.

¹¹ being strengthened with all power according to His glorious might so that you may have full endurance and patience, and joyfully

⁹ They sang a new song: "You are worthy to take the scroll and open its seals, because you were slaughtered. With your blood you purchased people for God from every tribe, language, people, and nation.

⁸ "Judah, your brothers will praise you. Your hand will be on the neck of your enemies. Your father's sons will bow down before you.

²⁷ I will send my terror before you, and will confuse all the people to whom you come, and I will make all your enemies turn their backs to you.

²⁴ And when they brought these kings to Joshua, Joshua called all the men of Israel and said to the commanders of the fighting men who had gone with him, "Come near, put your feet on the necks of these kings." So they came near and put their feet on their necks.

⁴⁰ You made my enemies turn their backs to me. I destroyed those who hated me. ⁴¹ They cried, but there was none to save; even to the LORD, but he did not answer them.

¹⁴ But his subjects hated him and sent a delegation after him to say, ‘We do not want this man to rule over us.’

²⁷ But those enemies of mine, who did not want me to reign over them, bring them here and slay them before me.'"

⁸ Taking vengeance on those who do not know God, and who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. ⁹ who will be punished with everlasting destruction proceeding from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his power,

⁶ And Saul enquired of the LORD, but the LORD did not answer him by dreams nor by Urim nor by prophets.

⁹ "Does God listen to his cry when distress comes upon him?

²⁸ Then they will call on me, but I will not answer. They will seek me diligently, but they will not find me;

¹⁵ "When you spread out your hands in prayer, I will hide my eyes from you. Even though you offer many prayers, I will not listen because your hands are full of blood.

³ Son of man, speak to the old men of Israel, and say to them, Thus said the Sovereign LORD: Come ye to seek me? I live, if I will be sought for you, says the Sovereign LORD.

⁴ "They will cry to the LORD but he will not answer them. In fact, he will hide his face from them at that time because they have done evil things."

²² Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?’ ²³ Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Get away from me, you evildoers!'"

²⁵ After the master of the house gets up and shuts the door, you will stand outside knocking and saying, ‘Lord, open the door for us.’ But he will reply, ‘I do not know where you are from.’ ²⁶ Then you will say, 'We ate and drank with you, and you taught in our streets.'

²⁶ I said: "I will scatter them, erasing their memory from the human race,

⁷ For he had left of the people to Jehoahaz but fifty horsemen, and ten chariots, and ten thousand footmen; for the king of Syria had destroyed them, and had made them like the dust by threshing.

⁴² And I ground them like dust in the wind, I emptied them out like mud of the streets.

⁵ Let them be like chaff before the wind, with the angel of the LORD driving them.

⁶ "I send him against a godless nation. I commission him against the people of my fury to capture booty and to seize plunder, and to trample them down like mud (clay) in the streets.

¹⁵ You have enlarged the nation, O LORD; you have enlarged the nation. You have gained glory for yourself. You have extended all the borders of the land.

³⁵ Then the iron, the clay, the bronze, the silver, and the gold were broken in pieces together and became like chaff from a summer threshing floor that the breeze carries away without leaving a trace. Then the rock that struck the statue grew into a huge mountain and filled the entire earth.

¹⁰ And my hater will see it and be covered with shame; she who said to me, Where is the Lord your God? my eyes will see their desire effected on her, now she will be crushed under foot like the dust of the streets.

⁶ "Woe! Woe! Flee from the land of the north," declares the LORD, "for I have scattered you like the four winds of the heavens," declares the LORD.

⁵ And they will be like warriors, trampling in the mud of the streets in the battle. They will fight, because the LORD is with them, and they will put to shame the riders on horses.

David hamstrung all the chariot horses, but from them he spared a hundred chariot horses. ⁵ When the Syrians of Damascus came to help Hadadezer king of Zobah, David struck twenty two thousand men of the Syrians. ⁶ Then David put garrisons in Syria of Damascus; and the Syrians became servants to David, and brought tribute. The LORD gave victory to David wherever he went. ⁷ And David took the shields of gold that belonged to the servants of Hadad’ezer, and brought them to Jerusalem. ⁸ From Betah and from Berothai, cities of Hadadezer, king David took a great quantity of bronze. ⁹ When Toi king of Hamath heard that David had defeated all the armies of Hadadezer, ¹⁰ Tou sent his son Joram to King David to greet him and congratulate him on his victory over Hadadezer, because he had been at war with Tou. Joram brought articles of silver, gold, and bronze with him, ¹¹ King David dedicated these articles to the LORD, along with the silver and gold he dedicated from all the nations he conquered. ¹² of Syria, of Moab, of the children of Ammon, of the Philistines, of Amalek, and of the plunder of Hadadezer, son of Rehob, king of Zobah.

⁶ So the people went out into the field against Israel: and the battle took place in the forest of Ephraim. ⁷ And the people of Israel were defeated there by David's army, and a great slaughter was made that day of twenty thousand men. ⁸ The battle spread throughout the entire countryside, and the forest claimed more casualties that day than did the sword fighting.

⁹ Throughout the tribes of Israel, everyone was quarreling with one another: "The king delivered us from the domination of our enemies…" "He's the one who rescued us from Philistine control…" "Now he's fleeing the country because of Absalom…!"

¹ Why do the nations rage, and the peoples plot in vain? ² The kings of the earth take their stand and the rulers gather together against the LORD and against his Anointed One. ³ "Let us break their bands asunder and throw off from us their yoke." ⁴ The One who dwells in heaven laughs. the LORD scoffs at them. ⁵ Then he rebukes them in his anger and terrifies them in his rage (fury). He says: ⁶ "But I myself have installed my king on Zion, my holy hill."

⁸ "Ask of me, and I will make the nations your inheritance, the ends of the earth your possession.

⁴³ You have delivered me from the strifes of the people. You have made me the head of the nations. A people whom I have not known will serve me.

⁸ Moab is My washbasin; Unto Edom shall I fling My sandal; Over Philistia shall I shout in triumph. ⁹ Who will bring me to the fortified city? Who will lead me to Edom?

⁸ He shall also rule from sea to sea, and from the River to the ends of the earth. ⁹ The dwellers in the desert shall bow before him, and his enemies shall lick the dust.

⁶ He will judge among the nations. He will heap up dead bodies. He will crush the ruler of the whole earth.

⁵ You will summon nations you do not know. Nations that do not know you will run to you, because of the LORD your God, the Holy One of Israel, for he has endowed you with splendor.

¹² For that nation and kingdom that will not serve you will perish. Yes, those nations will be utterly wasted.

⁴⁴ As soon as they hear of me, they will obey me. Foreigners will cringe in front of me. ⁴⁵ Foreigners will wilt away; they will come trembling out of their stronghold.

³ Say to God: "How awesome are your works! Because of your great strength your enemies cringe before you."

¹⁵ The haters of the LORD would cringe before him, and their punishment would last forever.

³ Let no foreigner who has joined himself to the LORD speak, saying, “the LORD will surely separate me from his people.” Do not let the eunuch say, “Behold, I am a dry tree.”

I will make you a great name, like the name of the great ones who are in the earth.

⁴⁸ He saves me from my enemies. You lift me up above my opponents. You rescue me from violent people.

¹ For the music director. A maskil of David. When Doeg the Edomite came and informed Saul. And he said to him, "David has come to the house of Ahimelech." Why do you boast about evil, O mighty man? The loyal love of God endures ⌊continually⌋.

⁴⁹ Therefore I will praise you, LORD, among the nations, and will sing praises to your name.

¹ A praise psalm by David. I will exalt you, my God, the King. I will praise your name forever and ever. ² Every day I will praise you. I will extol your name forever and ever.

⁹ so that the Gentiles may glorify God for His mercy. As it is written: “Therefore I will praise You among the Gentiles; I will sing hymns to Your name.”

¹² When your days are full and you lie down with your ancestors, I will raise up your offspring after you who will go out from your body, and I will establish his kingdom. ¹³ It is he who shall build a house for my name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom for ever.

⁵⁰ He gives great victories to his king. He shows mercy to his anointed, to David, and to his descendants forever.

¹ For the music director. A psalm of David. O LORD, the king will rejoice in your strength, and how greatly he will delight in your help.

³ God is in her citadels; he is known as a high stronghold.

²⁰ I have found David my servant. With my holy oil I have anointed him,

²⁴ My faithfulness and gracious love will be with him, and in my name his power will be exalted.

²⁹ I will establish his dynasty forever, and his throne as long as heaven endures.

³⁶ His offspring will endure forever, and his throne as the sun before me.

¹⁰ You who gives salvation to kings, who delivers His servant David from the evil sword.

⁹ 'Rather, they will serve the LORD their God and David their king, whom I will raise up for them.

³¹ And now, you shall be with child and give birth to a son, and you shall give him the name Jesus. ³² He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, ³³ and He will reign over the house of Jacob forever. His kingdom will never end!”
