¹ Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, if I have not love, I am but a sounding brass or a tinkling cymbal;

⁴⁵ And he will answer them, saying, Verily I say to you, Inasmuch as you have not done this to any, the least of these, you have not done it to me.

¹⁵ Now if on account of thy food thy brother is grieved, thou no longer walkest According to love. Destroy not by thy food him for whom Christ died.

¹ Now with regard to the things offered to idols, we know that we all have knowledge. [This knowledge puffeth up; but love edifieth.

⁸ For to one is given, by the spirit, a word of wisdom; and to another, a word of knowledge according to the same spirit;

¹⁶ And if the ear should say, "Because I am not an eye, I am not of the body," is it therefore not of the body?"

²⁹ Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Have all miraculous powers? ³⁰ Have all the gifts of healing? Do all speak divers languages? Are all interpreters?

² and though I have a gift of prophesy and understand all the mysteries and all this knowledge; and though I have all that faith, so as to remove mountains; if I have not love, I am nothing. ³ And though I distribute all my substance to feed the poor, and deliver up my body to be burned, if I have not love, it profiteth me nothing.

⁸ Love never faileth. But as for prophecies, they will be out of use. As for languages, they will cease: As for science, it will be done away.

⁶ For instance, should I, brethren, come to you, speaking with tongues, what shall I profit you, unless I explain to you what I say, be it either a revelation, or science, or a prophecy, or a doctrine. ⁷ In like manner with regard to inanimate things which give a sound, whether pipe or kithara, unless they produce distinct notes, how can it be known what that is, which is played on the pipe or kithara. ⁸ For if even a trumpet give an undistinguishable sound who will prepare himself for battle?

⁴ and he heard unutterable things which it is out of the power of man to express.

⁶ For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision availeth any thing, but a belief made operative by love.

²² But the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, gentleness, goodness, faithfulness,

⁵ Now the end of that charge is love, from a pure heart, and good conscience, and an unfeigned belief;

⁸ and above all things have fervent love for one another: for this "love will cover a multitude of sins."

¹⁸ For uttering, with a solemn tone, swelling words of vanity, they by the lusts of the flesh. by acts of lasciviousness, ensnare them who are indeed flying from those conversant in error;
