¹ Wisdom has built her house, she has hewn out her seven pillars: ² She has killed her beasts; she has mingled her wine; she has also furnished her table. ³ She has sent forth her maidens: She cries upon the highest places of the city, ⁴ "Whoever is simple, let him turn in here": As for him that wants understanding, she says to him, ⁵ "Come, eat of my bread, and drink of the wine which I have mingled. ⁶ Forsake the foolish, and live; and go in the way of understanding. ⁷ He that reproves a scorner gets shame to himself: And he that rebukes a wicked man gets himself a blemish. ⁸ Do not reprove a scorner, lest he hate you: Rebuke a wise man, and he will love you. ⁹ Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: Teach a just man, and he will increase in learning. ¹⁰ The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: And the knowledge of the holy is understanding. ¹¹ For by me your days shall be multiplied, and the years of your life shall be increased. ¹² If you are wise, you shall be wise for yourself: But if you scorn, you alone shall bear it. ¹³ A foolish woman is clamorous: She is simple, and knows nothing. ¹⁴ For she sits at the door of her house, on a seat in the high places of the city, ¹⁵ to call passengers who go right on their ways: ¹⁶ "Whoever is simple, let him turn in here": And as for him that wants understanding, she says to him, ¹⁷ "Stolen waters are sweet, and bread eaten in secret is pleasant." ¹⁸ But he does not know that the dead are there; and that her guests are in the depths of hell.

² He built also the house of the forest of Lebanon; its length was a hundred cubits, and its breadth fifty cubits, and its height thirty cubits, on four rows of cedar pillars, with cedar beams on the pillars. ³ And it was covered with cedar above on the beams, that lay on forty five pillars, fifteen in a row.

⁶ And he made a porch of pillars; its length was fifty cubits, and its breadth thirty cubits: And the porch was before them: And the other pillars and the thick beam were before them.

²¹ And he set up the pillars in the porch of the temple: And he set up the right pillar, and called its name Jachin: And he set up the left pillar, and called its name Boaz.

¹⁸ And I also say to you that you are Peter, and upon this Rock you declared I will build My church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

⁹ For we are laborers together with God: You are God's tillage, you are God's building. ¹⁰ According to the grace of God which is given to me, as a wise master-builder I have laid the foundation, and another builds on it. But let every man take heed how he builds upon it. ¹¹ For no other foundation can any man lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. ¹² Now if any man builds upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; ¹³ every man's work shall be made manifest: For the Day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall prove every man's work, of what sort it is. ¹⁴ If any man's work which he has built upon continues, he shall receive a reward. ¹⁵ If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: But he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.

⁹ And when James, Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that was given to me, they gave to me and Barnabas the right hand of fellowship; that we should go to the heathen, and they to the circumcised.

²⁰ and are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone; ²¹ in whom all the building, being fitly framed together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord: ²² In whom you also are built together as a habitation of God through the Spirit.

¹⁵ But if I tarry long, I write that you may know how you yourselves ought to behave in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.

³ For this Man was counted worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuch as He who built the house has more honor than the house. ⁴ For every house is built by some man; but He that built all things is God. ⁵ And Moses truly was faithful in all His house, as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken afterwards; ⁶ but Christ as a Son over His own house; whose house we are, if we hold firm the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope steadfast to the end.

⁵ you also, as lively stones, are built up as a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ. ⁶ Therefore it is also contained in the scripture, "Behold, I lay in Zion a chief cornerstone, elect, precious: And he that believes on Him shall not be confounded."

¹² He that overcomes I will make a pillar in the temple of My God, and he shall go out no more: And I will write upon him the name of My God, and the name of the city of My God, which is New Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from My God: And I will write upon him My new name."

¹⁶ And when Joseph saw Benjamin with them, he said to the ruler of his house, "Bring these men home, and slay, and make ready; for these men shall dine with me at noon."

⁵ "Come, eat of my bread, and drink of the wine which I have mingled.

³⁰ Those that tarry long at the wine; those that go to seek mixed wine.

² I would lead you, and bring you into my mother's house, who would instruct me: I would cause you to drink of spiced wine of the juice of my pomegranate.

⁶ And in this mountain the LORD of hosts shall make a feast of fat things to all people, a feast of wines on the lees, of fat things full of marrow, of wines on the lees well refined.

³ and sent forth his servants to call those who were invited to the wedding: And they would not come. ⁴ Again, he sent forth other servants, saying, 'Tell those who are invited, "Behold, I have prepared my dinner; my oxen and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready: Come to the marriage." ' ⁵ But they made light of it, and went their ways, one to his farm, another to his merchandise: ⁶ And the rest took his servants, treated them spitefully, and slew them. ⁷ But when the king heard about it, he was wroth: And he sent forth his armies, destroyed those murderers, and burned up their city. ⁸ Then he said to his servants, 'The wedding is ready, but those who were invited were not worthy. ⁹ Therefore go into the highways, and as many as you shall find, invite to the marriage.' ¹⁰ So those servants went out into the highways, and gathered together as many as they all found, both bad and good: And the wedding was furnished with guests. ¹¹ But when the king came in to see the guests, he saw a man there who did not have on a wedding garment: ¹² And he said to him, 'Friend, how did you come in here not having a wedding garment?' And he was speechless. ¹³ Then the king said to the servants, 'Bind him hand and foot, take him away, and cast him into outer darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.' ¹⁴ For many are called, but few are chosen."

¹⁶ Then He said to him, "A certain man made a large supper, and invited many: ¹⁷ And sent his servant at supper time to say to those who were invited, 'Come; for all things are now ready.'

⁷ Therefore purge out the old leaven, that you may be a new lump, as you are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us: ⁸ Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.

¹¹ The Lord gave the word: Great was the company of those that published it.

²⁰ Wisdom cries outside; she utters her voice in the streets: ²¹ She cries in the chief place of concourse, in the openings of the gates: In the city she utters her words, saying, ²² "How long, you simple ones, will you love simplicity? And the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge? ²³ Turn at my reproof: Behold, I will pour out my spirit to you, I will make my words known to you.

¹ Does not wisdom cry out? And understanding put forth her voice? ² She stands in the top of high places, by the trailside in the places of the paths. ³ She cries out at the gates, at the entry of the city, at the in coming at the doors.

¹⁴ For she sits at the door of her house, on a seat in the high places of the city,

³ and sent forth his servants to call those who were invited to the wedding: And they would not come. ⁴ Again, he sent forth other servants, saying, 'Tell those who are invited, "Behold, I have prepared my dinner; my oxen and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready: Come to the marriage." '

⁹ Therefore go into the highways, and as many as you shall find, invite to the marriage.'

⁴⁹ Therefore the wisdom of God also said, 'I will send them prophets and apostles, and some of them they shall slay and persecute':

¹⁷ And sent his servant at supper time to say to those who were invited, 'Come; for all things are now ready.'

²¹ So that servant came, and brought word of these things to his lord. Then the master of the house being angry said to his servant, 'Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring into this place the poor, and the maimed, and the lame, and the blind.' ²² And the servant said, 'Lord, it is done as you have commanded, and yet there is room.' ²³ Then the lord said to the servant, 'Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.

³⁷ On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, "If any man thirsts, let him come to Me, and drink.

²⁰ Jesus answered him, "I spoke openly to the world; I ever taught in the synagogue, and in the temple, where the Jews always assemble; and in secret I have said nothing.

¹⁵ And how shall they preach, except if they are sent? As it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!"

²⁰ Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God implored you through us: We make request of you on Christ's behalf, be reconciled to God. ²¹ For He has made Him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him.

⁷ The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: The testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.

¹³⁰ The entrance of Your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple.

²² "How long, you simple ones, will you love simplicity? And the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge?

³² But whoever commits adultery with a woman lacks understanding: He that does it destroys his own soul.

⁵ O you simple, understand wisdom: And, you fools, be of an understanding heart.

¹⁶ "Whoever is simple, let him turn in here": And as for him that wants understanding, she says to him,

²⁵ At that time Jesus answered and said, "I thank you, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because You have hidden these things from the wise and prudent, and have revealed them to babes.

¹⁷ Because you say, 'I am rich, and am increased with goods, and have need of nothing'; but do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked: ¹⁸ I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, so that the shame of your nakedness does not appear; and anoint your eyes with eye-salve, that you may see.

¹⁷ And the Spirit and the bride say, "Come." And let him that hears say, "Come." And let him that is thirsty come. And whoever is willing, let him take the water of life freely.

²⁶ The meek shall eat and be satisfied: They shall praise the LORD that seek Him: Your heart shall live forever.

²⁹ All those that are fat upon earth shall eat and worship: All those that go down to the dust shall bow before Him: And none can keep alive his own soul.

¹⁷ "Stolen waters are sweet, and bread eaten in secret is pleasant."

¹ I have come into my garden, my sister, my spouse: I have gathered my myrrh with my spice; I have eaten my honeycomb with my honey; I have drunk my wine with my milk: Eat, O friends; drink, yes, drink abundantly, O beloved.

¹ "Ho, everyone who thirsts, all of you come to the waters, and he who has no money; come all of you, buy, and eat; yes, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. ² Why do you spend money for that which is not bread? And your labor for that which does not satisfy? Listen to Me diligently, and eat that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness. ³ Incline your ear, and come to Me: Hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David.

¹² Therefore they shall come and sing in the height of Zion, and shall flow together to the goodness of the LORD, for wheat, and for wine, and for oil, and for the young of the flock and of the herd: And their soul shall be as a watered garden; and they shall not sorrow any more at all. ¹³ Then the virgin shall rejoice in the dance, both young men and old together: For I will turn their mourning into joy, and will comfort them, and make them rejoice from their sorrow. ¹⁴ And I will satiate the soul of the priests with fatness, and My people shall be satisfied with My goodness", said the LORD.

²⁶ And as they ate, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and broke it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, "Take, eat; this is My body." ²⁷ Then He took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, "Drink from it, all of you; ²⁸ for this is My blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

²⁷ Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to everlasting life, which the Son of Man shall give to you: For God the Father has sealed Him."

⁴⁹ Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and are dead. ⁵⁰ This is the bread which comes down from heaven, that one may eat of it, and not die. ⁵¹ I am the living bread which came down from heaven: If any man eats of this bread, he shall live forever: And the bread that I will give is My flesh, which I will give for the life of the world." ⁵² The Jews therefore strove among themselves, saying, "How can this Man give us His flesh to eat?" ⁵³ Then Jesus said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, Unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man, and drink His blood, you have no life in you. ⁵⁴ Whoever eats My flesh, and drinks My blood, has eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day. ⁵⁵ For My flesh is food indeed, and My blood is drink indeed. ⁵⁶ He who eats My flesh, and drinks My blood, dwells in Me, and I in him. ⁵⁷ As the living Father has sent Me, and I live by the Father: So he who eats Me, even he shall live by Me. ⁵⁸ This is that bread which came down from heaven: Not as your fathers ate manna, and are dead: He who eats of this bread shall live forever."

⁴ I have not sat with vain persons, neither will I go in with dissemblers. ⁵ I have hated the congregation of evil doers; and will not sit with the wicked. ⁶ I will wash my hands in innocence: In such a manner I will compass Your altar, O LORD:

¹⁰ Listen, O daughter, and consider, and incline your ear; forget also your own people, and your father's house;

¹¹⁵ Depart from me, you evildoers: For I will keep the commandments of my God.

¹¹ I have taught you in the way of wisdom; I have led you in right paths.

¹⁴ Do not enter into the path of the wicked, and do not go in the way of evil men. ¹⁵ Avoid it, do not pass by it, turn from it, and pass away.

³⁵ For whoever finds me finds life, and shall obtain favor of the LORD.

¹¹ For by me your days shall be multiplied, and the years of your life shall be increased.

¹⁷ He is in the way of life that keeps instruction: But he that refuses reproof errs.

²⁰ He that walks with wise men shall be wise: But a companion of fools shall be destroyed.

¹³ Enter in at the narrow gate: For wide is the gate, and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in through it: ¹⁴ Because straight is the gate, and narrow is the pathway which leads to life, and there are few that find it.

²⁴ "Strive to enter in at the narrow gate: For many, I say to you, Will seek to enter in, and will not be able.

⁴⁰ And with many other words he testified and exhorted them, saying, "Save yourselves from this crooked generation."

¹⁷ Therefore "Come out from among them, and be separate, says the Lord, and do not touch the unclean thing; and I will receive you",

⁴ And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, "Come out of her, my people, that you are not partakers of her sins, and that you do not receive of her plagues.

⁸ Behold now, I have two daughters which have not known a man; let me, I implore you, bring them out to you, and you do to them as is good in your eyes: Only do nothing to these men; for such shelter they came under the shadow of my roof." ⁹ And they said, "Stand back." And they said again, "This one fellow came in to sojourn, and he will necessarily be a judge: Now we will deal worse with you, than with them." And they pressed intensely upon the man, even Lot, and came near to breaking the door.

¹⁷ And it came to pass, when Ahab saw Elijah, that Ahab said to him, "Are you he that troubles Israel?

²⁰ And Ahab said to Elijah, "Have you found me, O my enemy? And he answered, I have found you: Because you have sold yourself to work evil in the sight of the LORD.

²⁴ But Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah went near, and smote Micaiah on the cheek, and said, "Which way went the Spirit of the LORD from me to speak to you?

²⁷ and say, "Thus says the king, Put this fellow in the prison, and feed him with bread of affliction and with water of affliction, until I come in peace.

²⁰ And the Spirit of God came on Zechariah the son of Jehoiada the priest, which stood above the people, and said to them, "Thus said God, Why transgress you the commandments of the LORD, that you cannot prosper? Because you have forsaken the LORD, he has also forsaken you. ²¹ And they conspired against him, and stoned him with stones at the commandment of the king in the court of the house of the LORD. ²² Thus Joash the king remembered not the kindness which Jehoiada his father had done to him, but slew his son. And when he died, he said, "The LORD look on it, and require it.

¹⁵ Why the anger of the LORD was kindled against Amaziah, and he sent to him a prophet, which said to him, "Why have you sought after the gods of the people, which could not deliver their own people out of your hand? ¹⁶ And it came to pass, as he talked with him, that the king said to him, "Are you made of the king's counsel? Forbear; why should you be smitten? Then the prophet declined, and said, "I know that God has determined to destroy you, because you have done this, and have not listened to my counsel.

¹⁶ But they mocked the messengers of God, and despised his words, and misused his prophets, until the wrath of the LORD arose against his people, till there was no remedy.

¹² A scorner does not love one that reproves him: Neither will he go to the wise.

⁹ Do not speak in the ears of a fool: For he will despise the wisdom of your words.

¹⁷ You shall not hate your brother in your heart: You shall in any wise rebuke your neighbor, and not suffer sin on him.

⁶ And Joshua the son of Nun, and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, which were of those that searched the land, rent their clothes: ⁷ And they spoke to all the company of the children of Israel, saying, "The land, which we passed through to search it, is an exceeding good land. ⁸ If the LORD delight in us, then he will bring us into this land, and give it us; a land which flows with milk and honey. ⁹ Only rebel not you against the LORD, neither fear you the people of the land; for they are bread for us: Their defense is departed from them, and the LORD is with us: Fear them not. ¹⁰ But all the congregation bade stone them with stones. And the glory of the LORD appeared in the tabernacle of the congregation before all the children of Israel.

⁷ And Nathan said to David, "You are the man. Thus says the LORD God of Israel, I anointed you king over Israel, and I delivered you out of the hand of Saul; ⁸ and I gave you your master's house, and your master's wives into your bosom, and gave you the house of Israel and of Judah; and if that had been too little, I would moreover have given to you such and such things. ⁹ Why have you despised the commandment of the LORD, to do evil in his sight? You have killed Uriah the Hittite with the sword, and have taken his wife to be your wife, and have slain him with the sword of the children of Ammon. ¹⁰ Now therefore the sword shall never depart from your house; because you have despised me, and have taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be your wife. ¹¹ Thus says the LORD, Behold, I will raise up evil against you out of your own house, and I will take your wives before your eyes, and give them to your neighbor, and he shall lie with your wives in the sight of this sun. ¹² For you did it secretly: But I will do this thing before all Israel, and before the sun. ¹³ And David said to Nathan, "I have sinned against the LORD. And Nathan said to David, "The LORD also has put away your sin; you shall not die. ¹⁴ However, because by this deed you have given great occasion to the enemies of the LORD to blaspheme, the child also that is born to you shall surely die."

²³ And they told the king, saying, "Behold Nathan the prophet. And when he was come in before the king, he bowed himself before the king with his face to the ground.

³² And king David said, "Call me Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada. And they came before the king.

⁸ And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, "There is yet one man, Micaiah the son of Imlah, by whom we may inquire of the LORD: But I hate him; for he does not prophesy good concerning me, but evil. And Jehoshaphat said, "Let not the king say so.

⁵ Let the righteous smite me; it shall be a kindness: And let him reprove me; it shall be an excellent oil, which shall not break my head: Notwithstanding, my prayer shall also be made throughout their calamities.

¹⁸ Poverty and shame shall be to him that refuses instruction: But he that regards reproof shall be honored.

²³ He that rebukes a man shall afterwards find more favor than he that flatters with the tongue.

¹ He, that often being reproved hardens his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy.

⁶ Do not give that which is holy to the dogs, nor cast your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and tear you to pieces.

¹⁴ Leave them alone: They are blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind leads the blind, both shall fall into the ditch."

¹¹ But when Peter had come to Antioch, I withstood him to the face, because he was to be blamed. ¹² For before certain ones came from James, he ate with the Gentiles: But when they came, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing those who were of the circumcision. ¹³ And the other Jews dissembled likewise with him; so that even Barnabas was also carried away with their dissimulation. ¹⁴ But when I saw that they did not walk uprightly according to the truth of the gospel, I said to Peter before them all, "If you, being a Jew, live in the manner of Gentiles, and not do as the Jews, why do you compel Gentiles to live as do Jews?

⁴ For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Spirit, ⁵ and have tasted the good Word of God, and the powers of the world to come, ⁶ if they shall fall away, to renew them again to repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put Him to an open shame. ⁷ For the earth which drinks in the rain that often comes upon it, and brings forth herbs fit for those by whom they are cultivated, receives blessing from God: ⁸ But that which bears thorns and briers is rejected, and is near to being cursed; whose end is to be burned.

¹⁵ And count the longsuffering of our Lord to be salvation; even as also our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given to him, has written to you; ¹⁶ as also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things that are hard to be understood, which those who are unlearned and unstable twist, as they do also the other scriptures, to their own destruction.

⁵ A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain to wise counsels:

¹² As an earring of gold, and an ornament of fine gold, so is a wise reprover upon an obedient ear.

³ Then we shall know, if we follow on pursuing to know the LORD: His going forth is prepared like the morning; and He shall come to us as the rain, as the latter and former rain to the earth.

¹¹ He answered and said to them, "Because it is given to you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given. ¹² For whoever has, to him more shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: But whoever does not have, even what he has shall be taken away from him.

¹⁸ But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be glory both now and forever. Amen.

²⁰ But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you know all things. ²¹ I have not written to you because you do not know the truth, but because you know it, and that no lie is of the truth.

¹³ These things I have written to you who believe upon the name of the Son of God; that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may believe upon the name of the Son of God.

⁹ And you, Solomon my son, know you the God of your father, and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind: For the LORD searches all hearts, and understands all the imaginations of the thoughts: If you seek him, he will be found of you; but if you forsake him, he will cast you off forever.

²⁸ And to man he said, "Behold, the fear of the LORD, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding.

¹⁰ The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: A good understanding have all those who do His commandments: His praise endures forever.

⁷ The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: But fools despise wisdom and instruction.

⁵ then you shall understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.

³ I neither learned wisdom, nor have the knowledge of the holy.

¹³ Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: For this is the whole duty of man.

²⁷ All things are delivered to Me from My Father: And no man knows the Son, except the Father; neither does any man know the Father, except the Son, and he to whom the Son will reveal Him.

³ And this is life eternal, that they might know You the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom You have sent.

²⁰ And we know that the Son of God has come, and has given us an understanding, that we may know Him that is true, and we are in Him that is true, even in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.

² That you might fear the LORD your God, to keep all his statutes and his commandments, which I command you, you, and your son, and your son's son, all the days of your life; and that your days may be prolonged.

² For they shall add to you length of days, and long life, and peace.

¹⁶ Length of days is in her right hand; and in her left hand riches and honor.

²⁷ The fear of the LORD prolongs days: But the years of the wicked shall be shortened.

² can a man be profitable to God, as he that is wise may be profitable to himself? ³ Is it any pleasure to the Almighty, that you are righteous? Or is it gain to him, that you make your ways perfect?

²¹ Now acquaint yourself with Him, and be at peace: By this good shall come to you.

⁶ If you sin, what do you against him? Or if your transgressions be multiplied, what do you to him? ⁷ If you be righteous, what give you him? Or what receives he of your hand?

²⁶ He that labors labors for himself; for his mouth craves it of him.

²² Now therefore you shall not be mockers, lest your bands be made strong: For I have heard from the Lord GOD of hosts a consumption, even determined on the whole earth.

²⁰ The soul that sins, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: The righteousness of the righteous shall be on him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be on him.

³ Knowing this first, that scoffers shall come in the last days, walking after their own lusts, ⁴ and saying, "Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers deceased, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation."

¹⁶ as also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things that are hard to be understood, which those who are unlearned and unstable twist, as they do also the other scriptures, to their own destruction.

⁶ Lest you should ponder the path of life, her ways are moveable, that you cannot know them.

¹¹ (She is loud and stubborn; her feet do not abide in her house:

⁹ It is better to dwell in a corner of the housetop, than with a brawling woman in a wide house.

¹⁹ It is better to dwell in the wilderness, than with a contentious and an angry woman.

⁴ he is proud, knowing nothing, but regards questions and strifes of words with excessive fondness, from which comes envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings,

¹⁰ And behold, there met him a woman with the attire of a harlot, and subtle of heart. ¹¹ (She is loud and stubborn; her feet do not abide in her house: ¹² Now she is outside, now in the streets, and lies in wait at every corner).

³ She has sent forth her maidens: She cries upon the highest places of the city,

¹³ So she caught him, and kissed him, and with an impudent face said to him, ¹⁴ I have peace offerings with me; this day I have paid my vows. ¹⁵ Therefore I came forth to meet you, diligently to seek your face, and I have found you.

²⁵ Do not let your heart decline to her ways, do not go astray in her paths. ²⁶ For she has cast down many wounded: Yes, many strong men have been slain by her. ²⁷ Her house is the way to hell, going down to the chambers of death.

²⁷ For a whore is a deep ditch; and a strange woman is a narrow pit. ²⁸ She also lies in wait as for a prey, and increases the transgressors among men.

⁴ "Whoever is simple, let him turn in here": As for him that wants understanding, she says to him,

⁶ And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of its fruit, and ate, and also gave to her husband with her; and he ate.

²⁴ And when he came to the tower, he took them from their hand, and bestowed them in the house: And he let the men go, and they departed. ²⁵ But he went in, and stood before his master. And Elisha said to him, "From where come you, Gehazi? And he said, "Your servant went no where. ²⁶ And he said to him, "Went not my heart with you, when the man turned again from his chariot to meet you? Is it a time to receive money, and to receive garments, and olive groves, and vineyards, and sheep, and oxen, and menservants, and maidservants? ²⁷ The leprosy therefore of Naaman shall stick to you, and to your seed forever. And he went out from his presence a leper as white as snow.

¹⁸ Come, let us take our fill of love until the morning: Let us solace ourselves with loves. ¹⁹ For the goodman is not at home, he has gone on a long journey: ²⁰ He has taken a bag of money with him, and will come home on the day appointed.

¹⁷ Bread of deceit is sweet to a man; but afterwards his mouth shall be filled with gravel.

³¹ Do not look upon the wine when it is red, when it gives his color in the cup, when it moves itself aright. ³² At the last it bites like a serpent, and stings like an adder.

²⁰ Such is the way of an adulterous woman; she eats, and wipes her mouth, and says, 'I have done no wickedness.'

⁸ But sin, taking occasion by the commandment, worked in me all manner of concupiscence. For without the law sin was dead.

¹² For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done by them in secret.

¹⁴ But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away by his own lust, and enticed. ¹⁵ Then when lust has conceived, it brings forth sin: And sin, when it is finished, brings forth death.

⁵ They do not know, neither will they understand; they walk on in darkness: All the foundations of the earth are out of course.

¹⁸ For her house inclines to death, and her paths to the dead. ¹⁹ None that go to her return again, neither do they take hold of the paths of life.

⁵ Her feet go down to death; her steps take hold on hell.

²⁶ For by means of a whorish woman a man is brought to a piece of bread: And the adulteress will hunt for the precious life.

²⁷ Her house is the way to hell, going down to the chambers of death.

⁵ For they are willingly ignorant of this, that by the Word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:
