³² And he spoke three thousand proverbs: And his songs were a thousand and five.

¹ The proverbs of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel;

²⁰ A wise son makes a glad father: But a foolish man despises his mother.

²¹ He that begets a fool does it to his sorrow: And the father of a fool has no joy.

²⁵ A foolish son is a grief to his father, and bitterness to her that bore him.

¹³ A foolish son is the calamity of his father: And the contentions of a wife are a continual dropping.

¹⁵ My son, if your heart be wise, my heart shall rejoice, even mine. ¹⁶ Yes, my reins shall rejoice, when your lips speak right things.

²⁴ The father of the righteous shall greatly rejoice: And he that begets a wise child shall have joy of him. ²⁵ Your father and your mother shall be glad, and she that bore you shall rejoice.

¹ These are also proverbs of Solomon, which the men of Hezekiah king of Judah copied out.

³ Whoever loves wisdom rejoices his father: But he that keeps company with harlots spends his substance.

¹⁵ The rod and reproof give wisdom: But a child left to himself brings his mother to shame.

¹⁹ And who knows whether he shall be a wise man or a fool? Yet he shall have rule over all my labor in which I have labored, and in which I have showed myself wise under the sun. This also is vanity.

⁹ And moreover, because the preacher was wise, he still taught the people knowledge; yes, he gave good heed, and sought out, and set in order many proverbs.

⁶ Those that trust in their wealth, and boast themselves in the multitude of their riches; ⁷ none of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him: ⁸ (For the redemption of their soul is precious, and it ceases forever): ⁹ That he should still live forever, and not see corruption. ¹⁰ For he sees that wise men die, likewise the fool and the brutish person perish, and leave their wealth to others.

⁴ Riches do not profit in the day of wrath: But righteousness delivers from death.

²⁸ In the way of righteousness is life; and in that pathway there is no death.

⁶ The getting of treasures by a lying tongue is a vanity tossed to and fro by those that seek death.

² to turn aside the needy from judgment, and to take away the right from the poor of my people, that widows may be their prey, and that they may rob the fatherless! ³ And what will all of you do in the day of visitation, and in the desolation which shall come from afar? To whom will you flee for help? And where will you leave your glory?

¹⁹ They shall cast their silver in the streets, and their gold shall be removed: Their silver and their gold shall not be able to deliver them in the day of the wrath of the LORD: They shall not satisfy their souls, neither fill their bowels: Because it is the stumbling-block of their iniquity.

²⁷ Therefore, O king, let my counsel be acceptable to you, and break off your sins by righteousness, and your iniquities by showing mercy to the poor; if it may be a lengthening of your tranquility."

¹⁸ Neither their silver nor their gold shall be able to deliver them in the day of the LORD's wrath; but the whole land shall be devoured by the fire of His jealousy: For He shall even make a speedy riddance of all those that dwell in the land.

¹⁵ And He said to them, "Take heed, and beware of covetousness: For a man's life does not subsist in the abundance of the things which he possesses." ¹⁶ Moreover He spoke a parable to them, saying, "The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully: ¹⁷ And he thought within himself, saying, 'What shall I do, because I have no room where to stow my fruits?' ¹⁸ So he said, 'I will do this: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there I will stow all my fruits and my goods. ¹⁹ And I will say to my soul, "Soul, you have a great many goods laid up for many years; take your ease, eat, drink, and be merry." ' ²⁰ But God said to him, 'You fool, this night your soul shall be required of you: Then whose shall those things be, which you have provided?' ²¹ So is he that lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God."

²² And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: The rich man also died, and was buried; ²³ And in hell he lifted up his eyes, being in torments, and saw Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.

⁵ But according to your hardness and impenitent heart you treasure up for yourself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God;

²¹ That as sin has reigned to death, even so might grace reign through righteousness to eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.

⁹ and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:

¹ Go now, you rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you. ² Your riches are corrupted, and your clothes are moth-eaten. ³ Your gold and silver are cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as if it were fire. You have heaped treasure together for the last days.

²⁰ In famine he shall redeem you from death: And in war from the power of the sword.

⁵ that the triumphing of the wicked is short, and the joy of the hypocrite but for a moment? ⁶ Though his excellency mount up to heaven, and his head reach to the clouds; ⁷ yet he shall perish forever like his own dung: They which have seen him shall say, "Where is he? ⁸ He shall fly away as a dream, and shall not be found: Yes, he shall be chased away as a vision of the night.

²⁰ surely he shall not feel quietness in his belly, he shall not save of that which he desired. ²¹ There shall none of his meat be left; therefore shall no man look for his goods. ²² In the fullness of his sufficiency he shall be in straits: Every hand of the wicked shall come on him.

²⁸ The increase of his house shall depart, and his goods shall flow away in the day of his wrath.

¹⁴ You have seen it; for You behold mischief and spite, to recompense it with Your hand: The poor commits himself to You; You are the helper of the fatherless.

¹⁹ to deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine.

⁹ O fear the LORD, you His saints: For there is no want to those that fear Him. ¹⁰ The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: But those that seek the LORD shall not want any good thing.

³ Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shall you dwell in the land, and truly you shall be fed.

¹⁹ They shall not be ashamed in the evil time: And in the days of famine they shall be satisfied.

²⁵ I have been young, and now am old; yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.

¹⁰ The wicked shall see it, and be grieved; he shall gnash with his teeth, and melt away: The desire of the wicked shall perish.

³² The wicked is driven away in his wickedness: But the righteous has hope in his death.

¹⁶ he shall dwell on high: His place of defense shall be the fortress of rocks: Bread shall be given him; his waters shall be sure.

⁶ Shall not all these take up a parable against him, and a taunting proverb against him, and say, 'Woe to him that increases that which is not his! How long? And woe to him that lades himself with thick clay!'? ⁷ Shall they not rise up suddenly that will bite you, and awake that shall vex you, and you shall be for booty to them? ⁸ Because you have spoiled many nations, all the remnant of the people shall spoil you; because of men's blood, and for the violence of the land, of the city, and of all that dwell in it.

³⁰ Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is cast into the oven, shall He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? ³¹ Therefore take no thought, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or, 'What shall we drink?' or, 'With what shall we be clothed?' ³² (For the Gentiles seek after all these things:) For your heavenly Father knows that you have need of all these things. ³³ But you, seek first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added to you.

²² And He said to His disciples, "Therefore I say to you, Take no thought for your life, what you shall eat; neither for the body, what you shall put on. ²³ The life is more than food, and the body is more than clothing. ²⁴ Consider the ravens: For they neither sow nor reap; which have neither storehouse nor barn; and God feeds them: How much more are you better than the birds?

³¹ But rather seek the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added to you.

⁵ Let your behavior be without covetousness; and be content with such things as you have: For He has said, "I will never leave you, nor forsake you." ⁶ So that we may boldly say, "The LORD is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do to me."

⁶ Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise: ⁷ Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler, ⁸ provides her meat in the summer, and gathers her food in the harvest. ⁹ How long will you sleep, O sluggard? When will you arise out of your sleep? ¹⁰ Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep: ¹¹ So shall your poverty come as one that travels abroad, and your want as an armed man.

²⁴ There is that which scatters, and yet increases; and there is that which withholds more than is right, but it tends to poverty.

²⁴ The hand of the diligent shall bear rule: But the slothful shall be under tribute.

⁴ The soul of the sluggard desires, and has nothing: But the soul of the diligent shall be made fat.

¹⁵ Slothfulness casts into a deep sleep; and an idle soul shall suffer hunger.

²⁴ A slothful man hides his hand in his bosom, and will not so much as bring it to his mouth again.

⁴ The sluggard will not plow by reason of the cold; therefore he shall beg in harvest, and have nothing.

¹³ Do not love sleep, lest you come to poverty; open your eyes, and you shall be satisfied with bread.

⁵ The thoughts of the diligent tend only to plenty; but of everyone that is hasty only to want.

³⁰ I went by the field of the slothful, and by the vineyard of the man void of understanding; ³¹ and, look, it was all grown over with thorns, and nettles had covered the face of it, and its stone wall was broken down. ³² Then I saw, and considered it well: I looked upon it, and received instruction. ³³ Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep: ³⁴ So shall your poverty come as one that travels abroad; and your want as an armed man.

¹⁸ By much slothfulness the building decays; and through idleness of the hands the house drops leaks.

²⁷ Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to everlasting life, which the Son of Man shall give to you: For God the Father has sealed Him."

⁵⁸ Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, seeing you know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.

¹¹ And we desire that every one of you show the same diligence to the full assurance of hope to the end: ¹² That you are not slothful, but followers of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.

⁵ And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; ⁶ and to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; ⁷ and to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness love. ⁸ For if these things are in you, and abound, they make you such that you shall be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. ⁹ But he that lacks these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and has forgotten that he was purged from his old sins. ¹⁰ Therefore better yet, brethren, be diligent to make your calling and election sure: For if you do these things, you shall never fall:

⁶ Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise:

⁸ provides her meat in the summer, and gathers her food in the harvest.

⁴ A virtuous woman is a crown to her husband: But she that makes ashamed is as rottenness in his bones.

² A wise servant shall have rule over a son that causes shame, and shall have part of the inheritance among the brothers.

²⁶ He that injures his father by violence, and chases away his mother, is a son that causes shame, and brings reproach.

²⁵ The ants are not a strong people, yet they prepare their food in the summer;

⁶ All of you seek the LORD while He may be found, call on Him while He is near: ⁷ Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: And let him return to the LORD, and He will have mercy on him; and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon.

² And all these blessings shall come on you, and overtake you, if you shall hearken to the voice of the LORD your God.

⁸ Then the king returned out of the palace garden into the place of the banquet of wine; and Haman had fell upon the bed on which Esther was. Then the king said, "Will he also force the queen before me in the house?" As the word went out of the king's mouth, they covered Haman's face.

¹³ The blessing of him that was ready to perish came on me: And I caused the widow's heart to sing for joy.

⁴² The righteous shall see it, and rejoice: And all iniquity shall stop her mouth.

¹¹ The mouth of a righteous man is a well of life: But violence covers the mouth of the wicked.

²⁶ He that withholds grain, the people shall curse him: But blessing shall be upon the head of him that sells it.

²⁵ But to those that rebuke him shall be delight, and a good blessing shall come upon them.

²⁰ A faithful man shall abound with blessings: But he that makes haste to be rich shall not be innocent.

¹⁹ Now we know that whatever things the law says, it says to those who are under the law: That every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.

¹⁶ The Lord give mercy to the house of Onesiphorus; for he often refreshed me, and was not ashamed of my chain: ¹⁷ But when he was in Rome, he sought me out very diligently, and found me. ¹⁸ The Lord grant to him that he may find mercy from the Lord in that day: And you know very well in how many things he ministered to me at Ephesus.

³⁶ And to his son will I give one tribe, that David my servant may have a light always before me in Jerusalem, the city which I have chosen me to put my name there.

³⁴ For I will defend this city, to save it, for my own sake, and for my servant David's sake.

¹⁶ And they buried him in the city of David among the kings, because he had done good in Israel, both toward God, and toward his house.

¹⁷ His remembrance shall perish from the earth, and he shall have no name in the street.

²³ Men shall clap their hands at him, and shall hiss him out of his place.

⁵ You have rebuked the heathen, You have destroyed the wicked, You have put out their name forever and ever. ⁶ O enemy, your destructions have come to a perpetual end: And you have destroyed cities; their memorial is perished with them.

¹³ Let his posterity be cut off; and in the generation following, let their name be blotted out.

¹⁵ Let them be continually be before the LORD, that He may cut off the memory of them from the earth

⁶ Surely he shall not be moved forever: The righteous shall be in everlasting remembrance.

¹⁰ And so I saw the wicked buried, who had come and gone from the place of the holy, and they were forgotten in the city where they had so done: This also is vanity.

¹³ O LORD, the hope of Israel, all who forsake you shall be ashamed, and they who depart from me shall be written in the earth, because they have forsaken the LORD, the fountain of living waters.

⁹ Truly I say to you, Wherever this gospel shall be preached throughout the whole world, this which she has done shall also be spoken of for a memorial of her."

⁴⁸ For He has regarded the lowly state of His handmaiden: For behold, from this time forward all generations shall call me blessed.

³⁴ Give me understanding, and I shall keep Your law; yes, I shall observe it with my whole heart.

⁵ A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain to wise counsels:

⁹ Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: Teach a just man, and he will increase in learning.

¹⁰ He that winks with the eye causes sorrow: But a prating fool shall fall.

¹ Whoever loves instruction loves knowledge: But he that hates reproof is brutish.

¹³ The wicked is snared by the transgression of his lips: But the just shall come out of trouble.

³ He that keeps his mouth keeps his life: But he that opens wide his lips shall have destruction.

⁸ The wisdom of the prudent is to understand his way: But the folly of fools is deceit.

²³ In all labor there is profit: But the talk of the lips tends only to penury.

⁶ A fool's lips enter into contention, and his mouth calls for strokes. ⁷ A fool's mouth is his destruction, and his lips are the snare of his soul.

¹² The words of a wise man's mouth are gracious; but the lips of a fool will swallow himself up.

²⁴ Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man, who built his house upon a rock: ²⁵ And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it did not fall: For it was founded upon a rock.

¹³ Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? Let him show out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom.

⁴ Yes, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff they comfort me.

²¹ Let integrity and uprightness preserve me; for I wait on You.

¹¹ But as for me, I will walk in my integrity: Redeem me, and be merciful to me. ¹² My foot stands in an even place: I will bless the LORD in the congregations.

¹¹ For the LORD God is a sun and shield: The LORD will give grace and glory: He will not withhold any good thing from those that walk uprightly.

²³ Then you shall walk in your way safely, and your foot shall not stumble.

²⁰ He that has a froward heart finds no good: And he that has a perverse tongue falls into mischief.

¹⁸ Whoever walks uprightly shall be saved: But he that is perverse in his ways shall fall at once.

¹⁵ He who walks righteously, and speaks uprightly; he who despises the gain of oppressions, who shakes his hands from holding bribes, who stops his ears from hearing of blood, and shuts his eyes from seeing evil; ¹⁶ he shall dwell on high: His place of defense shall be the fortress of rocks: Bread shall be given him; his waters shall be sure.

²⁶ Therefore do not fear them: For there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known.

¹ In the meantime, when there was an innumerable multitude of people gathered together, so that they trod upon one another, He began to say first of all to His disciples, "Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy. ² For there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; nor hid, that shall not be known.

⁵ Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord comes, who will both bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: And then every man shall have praise from God.

¹³ And the other Jews dissembled likewise with him; so that even Barnabas was also carried away with their dissimulation. ¹⁴ But when I saw that they did not walk uprightly according to the truth of the gospel, I said to Peter before them all, "If you, being a Jew, live in the manner of Gentiles, and not do as the Jews, why do you compel Gentiles to live as do Jews?

²⁵ Likewise also, the good works of some are clearly manifest beforehand; and those that are otherwise cannot be hid.

¹² Why does your heart carry you away? And what do your eyes wink at,

¹⁹ Do not let those that are my enemies wrongfully rejoice over me: Neither let them wink with the eye who hate me without a cause.

¹³ He winks with his eyes, he speaks with his feet, he teaches with his fingers;

⁸ The wise in heart will receive commandments: But a prating fool shall fall.

²¹ Death and life are in the power of the tongue: And those that love it shall eat its fruit.

¹⁰ Therefore, if I come, I will remember his deeds which he does, prating against us with malicious words: And not content with that, neither does he himself receive the brethren, and forbids those that would receive them, and drives them out of the church.

³⁰ The mouth of the righteous speaks wisdom, and his tongue talks of judgment. ³¹ The law of his God is in his heart; none of his steps shall slide.

¹⁴ The law of the wise is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.

⁷ The lips of the wise disperse knowledge: But the heart of the foolish does not do so.

²² Understanding is a wellspring of life to him that has it: But the instruction of fools is folly. ²³ The heart of the wise teaches his mouth, and adds learning to his lips. ²⁴ Pleasant words are as a honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.

⁴ The words of a man's mouth are as deep waters, and the wellspring of wisdom as a flowing brook.

¹⁵ There is gold, and a multitude of rubies: But the lips of knowledge are a precious jewel.

¹² The words of a wise man's mouth are gracious; but the lips of a fool will swallow himself up. ¹³ The words of his mouth begin with foolishness: And the end of his talk is mischievous madness. ¹⁴ A fool also is full of words: A man cannot tell what shall be; and who can tell him what shall be after him?

³⁴ O generation of vipers, how can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. ³⁵ A good man out of the good treasure of the heart brings forth good things: And an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things. ³⁶ But I say to you that every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account of it in the day of judgment. ³⁷ For by your words you shall be justified, and by your words you shall be condemned."

²⁹ Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good for the use of edifying, that it may minister grace to the hearers.

⁵ Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasts great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindles! ⁶ And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: Thus is the tongue among our members, that it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell. ⁷ For every kind of beast, and birds, serpents, and things in the sea are tamed, and have been tamed by mankind: ⁸ But no man can tame the tongue; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.

¹⁸ A wrathful man stirs up strife: But he that is slow to anger appeases strife.

²⁷ An ungodly man digs up evil: And in his lips there is as a burning fire.

⁹ He that covers a transgression seeks love; but he that repeats a matter separates true friends.

²⁵ He that is of a proud heart stirs up strife: But he that puts his trust in the LORD shall be made fat.

²² An angry man stirs up strife, and a furious man abounds in transgression.

⁴ Love suffers long, and is kind; love does not envy; love does not vaunt itself, is not puffed up, ⁵ does not behave indecently itself, does not seek her own, is not easily provoked, thinks no evil; ⁶ does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; ⁷ bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

¹ From what source do wars and fighting come from among you? Do they not come from this, even out of your lusts that war in your members?

²⁰ let him know, that he who converts the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.

⁸ And above all things have fervent love among yourselves; for "love shall cover the multitude of sins."

¹² And the LORD said to Moses, "Stretch out your hand over the land of Egypt for the locusts, that they may come up upon the land of Egypt, and eat every herb of the land, even all that the hail has left."

⁹ Do not be as the horse, nor as the mule, which have no understanding: Whose mouths must be held in with bit and bridle, lest they come near to you."

³² But whoever commits adultery with a woman lacks understanding: He that does it destroys his own soul.

²² He immediately goes after her, as an ox goes to the slaughter, or as a fool to the correction of the stocks;

¹⁰ He that winks with the eye causes sorrow: But a prating fool shall fall. ¹¹ The mouth of a righteous man is a well of life: But violence covers the mouth of the wicked.

²³ A man has joy by the answer of his mouth: And a word spoken in due season, how good it is!

¹⁰ A reproof enters more into a wise man than a hundred stripes into a fool.

²⁹ Judgments are prepared for scorners, and stripes for the back of fools.

³ A whip for the horse, a bridle for the donkey, and a rod for the fool's back.

²² Though you pound a fool in a mortar among wheat with a pestle, yet his foolishness will not depart from him.

⁴ The Lord GOD has given Me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him who is weary: He wakens morning by morning, He wakens my ear to hear as the learned.

²² Therefore all bore Him witness, and marveled at the gracious words which proceeded out of His mouth. And they said, "Is this not Joseph's son?"

¹ Through desire a man, having separated himself, seeks and intermeddles with all wisdom.

⁷ A fool's mouth is his destruction, and his lips are the snare of his soul.

¹⁵ The heart of the prudent gets knowledge; and the ear of the wise seeks knowledge.

⁸ He that gets wisdom loves his own soul: He that keeps understanding shall find good.

²³ Whoever keeps his mouth and his tongue keeps his soul from troubles.

³⁵ A good man out of the good treasure of the heart brings forth good things: And an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things.

⁴⁴ Again, the kingdom of heaven is likened to treasure hid in a field; which when a man has found it, he hides it, and out of joy over it he goes and sells all that he has, and buys that field.

⁵² Then He said to them, "Therefore every scribe which is instructed concerning the kingdom of heaven is like a man who is a householder, who brings forth out of his treasure things new and old."

⁶ For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, has shone in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. ⁷ But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.

²⁴ If I have made gold my hope, or have said to the fine gold, You are my confidence; ²⁵ if I rejoice because my wealth was great, and because my hand had gotten much;

⁶ Those that trust in their wealth, and boast themselves in the multitude of their riches;

⁷ Lo, this is the man that did not make God his strength; but trusted in the abundance of his riches, and strengthened himself in his wickedness.

²⁰ The poor is hated even by his own neighbor: But the rich has many friends.

¹¹ The rich man's wealth is his strong city, and as a high wall in his own conceit.

⁷ All the brothers of the poor do hate him: How much more do his friends go far from him? He pursues them with words, yet they are absent from him.

²² Do not rob the poor, because he is poor: Neither oppress the afflicted in the gate: ²³ For the LORD will plead their cause, and spoil the soul of those that spoiled them.

¹² For wisdom is a defense, and money is a defense: But the excellency of knowledge is that wisdom gives life to those who have it.

²³ Thus says the LORD, "Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches:

¹ Woe to those that devise iniquity, and work evil upon their beds! When the morning is light, they practice it, because it is in the power of their hand. ² And they covet fields, and take them by violence; and houses, and take them away: So they oppress a man and his house, even a man and his heritage.oppress; or, defraud

²⁴ And the disciples were astonished at His words. But Jesus answered again, and said to them, "Children, how hard it is for those who trust in riches to enter into the kingdom of God!

¹⁹ And I will say to my soul, "Soul, you have a great many goods laid up for many years; take your ease, eat, drink, and be merry." '

¹⁷ Charge those that are rich in this world, that they are not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy;

¹⁸ The wicked works a deceitful work: But to him that sows righteousness shall be a sure reward. ¹⁹ As righteousness tends to life: So he that pursues evil pursues it to his own death.

³⁰ The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that wins souls is wise.

¹⁰ Say to the righteous, that it shall be well with him: For they shall eat the fruit of their doings. ¹¹ Woe to the wicked! It shall be ill with him: For the reward of his hands shall be given him.

¹⁷ Likewise, every good tree brings forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree brings forth evil fruit. ¹⁸ A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.

³³ Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: For the tree is known by his fruit. ³⁴ O generation of vipers, how can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.

¹⁹ For out of the heart proceeds evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:

²³ For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

⁷ Do not be deceived; God is not mocked: For whatever a man sows, that shall he also reap. ⁸ For he that sows to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that sows to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. ⁹ And let us not be weary in well doing: For in due season we shall reap, if we do not faint.

¹⁷ And their word will eat as does a canker: Of whom are Hymenaeus and Philetus; ¹⁸ who have erred concerning the truth, saying that the resurrection is already past; and they overthrow the faith of some.

¹³ But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.

¹⁰ For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labor of love, which you have shown toward His name, in that you have ministered to the saints, and do minister.

¹⁶ And it came to pass, as he talked with him, that the king said to him, "Are you made of the king's counsel? Forbear; why should you be smitten? Then the prophet declined, and said, "I know that God has determined to destroy you, because you have done this, and have not listened to my counsel.

²⁵ but you have disregarded all my counsel, and would have none of my reproof: ²⁶ I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear comes;

³⁰ They would have none of my counsel: They despised all my reproof.

¹ My son, do not forget my law; but let your heart keep my commandments: ² For they shall add to you length of days, and long life, and peace.

¹⁸ She is a tree of life to those that lay hold upon her: And happy is everyone that retains her.

⁴ He also taught me, and said to me, "Let your heart retain my words: Keep my commandments, and live.

¹³ Take firm hold of instruction; do not let her go: Keep her; for she is your life.

¹² and say, "How I hated instruction, and my heart despised reproof;

²³ For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life:

¹⁰ Correction is grievous to him that forsakes the way: And he that hates reproof shall die.

¹⁷ Bow down your ear, and hear the words of the wise, and apply your heart to my knowledge. ¹⁸ For it is a pleasant thing if you keep them within you; they shall be fitted together in your lips. ¹⁹ That your trust may be in the LORD, I have made known to you this day, even to you.

¹ He, that often being reproved hardens his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy.

⁶ Do not allow your mouth to cause your flesh to sin; neither shall you say before the angel, that it was an error: Why should God be angry at your voice, and destroy the work of your hands?

²⁴ Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man, who built his house upon a rock: ²⁵ And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it did not fall: For it was founded upon a rock. ²⁶ And everyone that hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, shall be likened to a foolish man, who built his house upon the sand: ²⁷ And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: And great was the fall of it."

²⁸ But He said, "Rather, blessed are those who hear the Word of God, and keep it."

¹ Therefore we ought to give more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.

²⁵ See that you do not refuse Him that speaks. For if those who refused 'Him that spoke on earth' did not escape, much more we shall not escape, if we turn away from Him that speaks from heaven:

⁵ And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; ⁶ and to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; ⁷ and to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness love. ⁸ For if these things are in you, and abound, they make you such that you shall be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. ⁹ But he that lacks these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and has forgotten that he was purged from his old sins. ¹⁰ Therefore better yet, brethren, be diligent to make your calling and election sure: For if you do these things, you shall never fall: ¹¹ For after that an entrance shall abundantly be ministered to you into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

²¹ And Saul said, "I will give her to him, that she may be a snare to him, and that the hand of the Philistines may be against him." For this reason Saul said to David, "You shall be my son-in-law this day in the one of the two." ²² And Saul commanded his servants, saying, "Commune with David secretly, and say, 'Behold, the king has delight in you, and all his servants love you: Now therefore be the king's son-in-law.' "

²⁹ And Saul was yet the more afraid of David; and Saul became David's enemy continually.

²⁷ And when Abner was returned to Hebron, Joab took him aside in the gate to speak with him quietly, and smote him there under the fifth rib, that he died, for the blood of Asahel his brother.

⁸ And David said to Uriah, "Go down to your house, and wash your feet. And Uriah departed out of the king's house, and there followed him a mess of meat from the king. ⁹ But Uriah slept at the door of the king's house with all the servants of his lord, and not went down to his house. ¹⁰ And when they had told David, saying, "Uriah not went down to his house, David said to Uriah, "Came you not from your journey? Why then did you not go down to your house? ¹¹ And Uriah said to David, "The ark, and Israel, and Judah, abide in tents; and my lord Joab, and the servants of my lord, are encamped in the open fields; shall I then go into my house, to eat and to drink, and to lie with my wife? As you live, and as your soul lives, I will not do this thing. ¹² And David said to Uriah, "Tarry here today also, and tomorrow I will let you depart. So Uriah stayed in Jerusalem that day, and the next day. ¹³ And when David had called him, he ate and drink before him; and he made him drunk: And at sunset he went out to lie on his bed with the servants of his lord, but not went down to his house. ¹⁴ And it came to pass in the morning, that David wrote a letter to Joab, and sent it by the hand of Uriah. ¹⁵ And he wrote in the letter, saying, "Set you Uriah in the forefront of the hottest battle, and retire you from him, that he may be smitten, and die.

²³ And it came to pass after two full years, that Absalom had sheep shearers in Baalhazor, which is beside Ephraim: And Absalom invited all the king's sons. ²⁴ And Absalom came to the king, and said, "Behold now, your servant has sheep shearers; let the king, I beseech you, and his servants go with your servant. ²⁵ And the king said to Absalom, "No, my son, let us not all now go, lest we be chargeable to you. And he pressed him: However, he would not go, but blessed him. ²⁶ Then said Absalom, If not, I implore you, let my brother Amnon go with us. And the king said to him, "Why should he go with you? ²⁷ But Absalom pressed him, that he let Amnon and all the king's sons go with him. ²⁸ Now Absalom had commanded his servants, saying, "Mark you now when Amnon's heart is merry with wine, and when I say to you, Smite Amnon; then kill him, fear not: Have I not commanded you? Be courageous, and be valiant. ²⁹ And the servants of Absalom did to Amnon as Absalom had commanded. Then all the king's sons arose, and every man got him up on his mule, and fled.

⁹ And Joab said to Amasa, "Are you in health, my brother? And Joab took Amasa by the beard with the right hand to kiss him. ¹⁰ But Amasa took no heed to the sword that was in Joab's hand: So he smote him therewith in the fifth rib, and shed out his bowels to the ground, and smote him not again; and he died. So Joab and Abishai his brother pursued after Sheba the son of Bichri.

⁹ For there is no faithfulness in their mouth; their inward part is truly wickedness; their throat is an open sepulcher; they flatter with their tongue.

² They speak vanity, everyone with his neighbor: With flattering lips and with a double heart they speak.

³ He that does not backbite with his tongue, nor does evil to his neighbor, nor takes up a reproach against his neighbor.

²⁰ You sit and speak against your brother; you slander your own mother's son.

²¹ The words of his mouth were smoother than butter, but war was in his heart: His words were softer than oil, yet they were drawn swords.

⁵ Whoever privately slanders his neighbor, him I will cut off: He who has a high look and a proud heart I will not suffer.

²⁴ He that hates conceals with his lips, and lays up deceit within himself; ²⁵ when he speaks in a pleasing manner, do not believe him: For there are seven abominations in his heart. ²⁶ Whose hatred is covered by deceit, his wickedness shall be shown before the whole congregation.

²⁰ Therefore they watched Him, and sent forth spies, who would feign themselves just men, that they might take hold of His words, so that they might deliver Him to the power and authority of the governor. ²¹ Then they asked Him, saying, "Master, we know that You say and teach rightly, neither do You revere the person of any, but teach the way of God in truth:

¹ To the chief Musician, even to Jeduthun, A Psalm of David. I said, "I will take heed to my ways, that I do not sin with my tongue: I will keep my mouth with a bridle, while the wicked are before me."

²⁷ He that has knowledge spares his words: And a man of understanding is of an excellent spirit. ²⁸ Even a fool, when he holds his peace, is counted wise: And he that shuts his lips is esteemed a man of understanding.

³ For a dream comes through the multitude of business; and a fool's voice is known by a multitude of words.

¹⁹ Therefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:

² For in many things we offend everyone. If any man does not offend in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body.

⁵ And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

²¹ And the LORD smelled a sweet savor; and the LORD said in his heart, "I will not again curse the ground any more for man's sake; for the imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth; neither will I again smite any more every thing living, as I have done.

¹⁹ My fruit is better than gold, yes, than fine gold; and my revenue than choice silver.

¹⁸ There is that which speaks like the piercings of a sword: But the tongue of the wise is health.

⁴ A wholesome tongue is a tree of life: But perverseness in it is a breach in the spirit.

¹³ Righteous lips are the delight of kings; and they love him that speaks right.

⁷ For as he thinks in his heart, so is he: He says to you, "Eat and drink"; but his heart is not with you.

¹¹ A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver. ¹² As an earring of gold, and an ornament of fine gold, so is a wise reprover upon an obedient ear.

⁹ The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: Who can know it?

³ Behold, you have instructed many, and you have strengthened the weak hands. ⁴ Your words have upheld him that was falling, and you have strengthened the feeble knees.

¹² Neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips; I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food.

²¹ To me men gave ear, and waited, and kept silence at my counsel. ²² After my words they spoke not again; and my speech dropped on them.

³⁰ The mouth of the righteous speaks wisdom, and his tongue talks of judgment.

²⁹ For they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD:

³¹ Therefore they shall eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices.

²³ He shall die without instruction; and in the greatness of his folly he shall go astray.

¹⁶ For what reason is there a price in the hand of a fool to get wisdom, seeing he has no heart toward it?

⁹ And moreover, because the preacher was wise, he still taught the people knowledge; yes, he gave good heed, and sought out, and set in order many proverbs. ¹⁰ The preacher sought to find out acceptable words: And that which was written was upright, even words of truth.

¹⁵ And I will give you pastors according to My heart, who shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.

¹⁶ Your words were found, and I ate them; and Your word was to me the joy and rejoicing of my heart: For I am called by Your name, O LORD God of hosts.

⁶ My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: Because you have rejected knowledge, I will also reject you, such that you shall not be priests to Me: Seeing you have forgotten the law of your God, I will also forget your children.

¹⁹ When anyone hears the word of the kingdom, and does not understand it, then the wicked one comes, and takes away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the wayside.

¹⁹ And this is the condemnation, that light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. ²⁰ For everyone that does evil hates the light, neither comes to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.

¹⁵ So when they had dined, Jesus said to Simon Peter, "Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me more than these?" He said to Him, "Yes, Lord; You know that I love You." He said to him, "Feed My lambs." ¹⁶ He said to him again a second time, "Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?" He said to Him, "Yes, Lord; You know that I love You." He said to him, "Feed My sheep." ¹⁷ He said to him the third time, "Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?" Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, "Do you love Me?" And he said to Him, "Lord, You know all things; You know that I love You." Jesus said to him, "Feed My sheep.

²⁸ And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not proper;

² Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking on the oversight of it, not by compulsion, but willingly; not for filthy profit, but from a ready mind;

² And I will make a great nation of you, and I will bless you, and make your name great; and you shall be a blessing:

² And Abram was very rich in domestic beasts, in silver, and in gold.

²³ that I will not take anything that is yours, from even a thread to a shoe strap, lest you should say, 'I have made Abram rich':

³⁵ And the LORD has blessed my master greatly; and he has become great: And he has given him flocks, and herds, and silver, and gold, and menservants, and maidservants, and camels, and donkeys.

¹² Then Isaac sowed in that land, and received in the same year a hundredfold: And the LORD blessed him.

¹⁷ and you say in your heart, My power and the might of my hand has gotten me this wealth. ¹⁸ But you shall remember the LORD your God: For it is he that gives you power to get wealth, that he may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.

¹⁸ As for all of you, at the very least keep yourselves from the accursed thing, lest you all make yourselves accursed, when you all take of the accursed thing, and make the camp of Israel a curse, and trouble it.

¹ But the children of Israel committed a trespass in the accursed thing: For Achan, the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took of the accursed thing: And the anger of the LORD was kindled against the children of Israel. ² And Joshua sent men from Jericho to Ai, which is beside Bethaven, on the east of Bethel, and spoke to them, saying, "Go up and view the country. And the men went up and viewed Ai. ³ And they returned to Joshua, and said to him, "Let not all the people go up; but let about two or three thousand men go up and smite Ai; and make not all the people to labor thither; for they are but few. ⁴ So there went up thither of the people about three thousand men: And they fled before the men of Ai. ⁵ And the men of Ai smote of them about thirty and six men: For they chased them from before the gate even to Shebarim, and smote them in the going down: Why the hearts of the people melted, and became as water. ⁶ And Joshua rent his clothes, and fell to the earth on his face before the ark of the LORD until the evening, he and the elders of Israel, and put dust upon their heads. ⁷ And Joshua said, "Alas, O LORD God, why have you at all brought this people over the Jordan, to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to destroy us? Would to God we had been content, and dwelled on the other side of the Jordan! ⁸ O LORD, what shall I say, "when Israel turns their backs before their enemies! ⁹ For the Canaanites and all the inhabitants of the land shall hear of it, and shall environ us round, and cut off our name from the earth: And what will you do to your great name? ¹⁰ And the LORD said to Joshua, "Get you up; why lie you thus on your face? ¹¹ Israel has sinned, and they have also transgressed My covenant which I commanded them: For they have even taken of the accursed thing, and have also stolen, and dissembled also, and they have put it even among their own stuff. ¹² Therefore the children of Israel could not stand before their enemies, but turned their backs before their enemies, because they were accursed: Neither will I be with you any more, except you destroy the accursed from among you. ¹³ Up, sanctify the people, and say, "Sanctify yourselves against tomorrow: For thus says the LORD God of Israel, There is an accursed thing in the midst of you, O Israel: You cannot stand before your enemies, until you take away the accursed thing from among you. ¹⁴ In the morning therefore you shall be brought according to your tribes: And it shall be, that the tribe which the LORD takes shall come according to its families; and the family which the LORD shall take shall come by households; and the household which the LORD shall take shall come man by man. ¹⁵ And it shall be, that he that is taken with the accursed thing shall be burnt with fire, he and all that he has: Because he has transgressed the covenant of the LORD, and because he has worked folly in Israel. ¹⁶ So Joshua rose up early in the morning, and brought Israel by their tribes; and the tribe of Judah was taken: ¹⁷ And he brought the family of Judah; and he took the family of the Zarhites: And he brought the family of the Zarhites man by man; and Zabdi was taken: ¹⁸ And he brought his household man by man; and Achan, the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, was taken. ¹⁹ And Joshua said to Achan, "My son, give, I implore you, glory to the LORD God of Israel, and make confession to him; and tell me now what you have done; hide it not from me. ²⁰ And Achan answered Joshua, and said, "Indeed I have sinned against the LORD God of Israel, and thus and thus have I done: ²¹ When I saw among the spoils a goodly Babylonish garment, and two hundred shekels of silver, and a wedge of gold of fifty shekels weight, then I coveted them, and took them; and behold, they are hid in the earth in the middle of my tent, and the silver under it. ²² So Joshua sent messengers, and they ran to the tent; and behold, it was hid in his tent, and the silver under it. ²³ And they took them out of the middle of the tent, and brought them to Joshua, and to all the children of Israel, and laid them out before the LORD. ²⁴ And Joshua, and all Israel with him, took Achan the son of Zerah, and the silver, and the garment, and the wedge of gold, and his sons, and his daughters, and his oxen, and his donkeys, and his sheep, and his tent, and all that he had: And they brought them to the valley of Achor. ²⁵ And Joshua said, "Why have you troubled us? The LORD shall trouble you this day. And all Israel stoned him with stones, and burned them with fire, after they had stoned them with stones. ²⁶ And they raised over him a great heap of stones to this day. So the LORD turned from the fierceness of his anger. Why the name of that place was called, The valley of Achor, to this day.

⁷ The LORD makes poor, and makes rich: He brings low, and lifts up. ⁸ He raises up the poor out of the dust, and lifts up the beggar from the dunghill, to set them among princes, and to make them inherit the throne of glory: For the pillars of the earth are the LORD's, and He has set the world upon them.

¹⁹ And you shall speak to him, saying, "Thus says the LORD, Have you killed, and also taken possession? And you shall speak to him, saying, "Thus says the LORD, In the place where dogs licked the blood of Naboth shall dogs lick your blood, even yours.

²⁶ And he said to him, "Went not my heart with you, when the man turned again from his chariot to meet you? Is it a time to receive money, and to receive garments, and olive groves, and vineyards, and sheep, and oxen, and menservants, and maidservants? ²⁷ The leprosy therefore of Naaman shall stick to you, and to your seed forever. And he went out from his presence a leper as white as snow.

⁸ For what is the hope of the hypocrite, though he has gained, when God takes away his soul? ⁹ Will God hear his cry when trouble comes on him? ¹⁰ Will he delight himself in the Almighty? Will he always call on God? ¹¹ I will teach you by the hand of God: That which is with the Almighty will I not conceal. ¹² Behold, all you yourselves have seen it; why then are you thus altogether vain? ¹³ This is the portion of a wicked man with God, and the heritage of oppressors, which they shall receive of the Almighty. ¹⁴ If his children be multiplied, it is for the sword: And his offspring shall not be satisfied with bread. ¹⁵ Those that remain of him shall be buried in death: And his widows shall not weep. ¹⁶ Though he heap up silver as the dust, and prepare clothing as the clay; ¹⁷ he may prepare it, but the just shall put it on, and the innocent shall divide the silver. ¹⁸ He builds his house as a moth, and as a booth that the keeper makes. ¹⁹ The rich man shall lie down, but he shall not be gathered: He opens his eyes, and he is not. ²⁰ Terrors take hold on him as waters, a tempest steals him away in the night. ²¹ The east wind carries him away, and he departs: And as a storm hurles him out of his place. ²² For God shall cast on him, and not spare: He would fain flee out of his hand. ²³ Men shall clap their hands at him, and shall hiss him out of his place.

²² For such as are blessed of Him shall inherit the earth; and those that are cursed of Him shall be cut off.

³⁸ He also blesses them, so that they are multiplied greatly; and does not permit their domestic beasts to decrease.

⁷ He raises up the poor out of the dust, and lifts the needy out of the dunghill; ⁸ that He may set Him with princes, even with the princes of his people.

²¹ An inheritance may be obtained hastily at the beginning; but the end of it shall not be blessed.

²² He that hastens to be rich has an evil eye, and does not consider that poverty shall come upon him.

⁶ Shall not all these take up a parable against him, and a taunting proverb against him, and say, 'Woe to him that increases that which is not his! How long? And woe to him that lades himself with thick clay!'? ⁷ Shall they not rise up suddenly that will bite you, and awake that shall vex you, and you shall be for booty to them? ⁸ Because you have spoiled many nations, all the remnant of the people shall spoil you; because of men's blood, and for the violence of the land, of the city, and of all that dwell in it. ⁹ Woe to him that covets an evil covetousness to establish his house, that he may set his nest on high, that he may be delivered from the power of evil! ¹⁰ You have consulted shame to establish your house by cutting off many people, and have sinned against your soul. ¹¹ For the stone shall cry out of the wall, and the beam out of the timber shall answer it. ¹² Woe to him that builds a town with blood, and establishes a city by iniquity!

⁴ "I will bring it forth", says the LORD of hosts, "and it shall enter into the house of the thief, and into the house of him that swears falsely by My name: And it shall remain in the midst of his house, and shall consume it with its timber and its stones."

¹ Go now, you rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you. ² Your riches are corrupted, and your clothes are moth-eaten. ³ Your gold and silver are cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as if it were fire. You have heaped treasure together for the last days. ⁴ Behold, the wages of the laborers who have harvested your fields, which you partially kept back by fraud, cries out: And the cries of those which have reaped have entered into the ears of the Lord of Sabaoth. ⁵ You have lived in pleasure on the earth, and been wanton; you have nourished your hearts, as in a day of slaughter.

¹⁴ who rejoice to do evil, and delight in the frowardness of the wicked;

⁹ Fools make a mock at sin: But among the righteous there is favor.

²¹ Folly is joy to him that is destitute of wisdom: But a man of understanding walks uprightly.

¹⁸ As a mad man who casts firebrands, arrows, and death, ¹⁹ so is the man that deceives his neighbor, and says, "Am I not just playing?"

⁹ Rejoice, O young man, in your youth; and let your heart cheer you in the days of your youth, and walk in the ways of your heart, and in the sight of your eyes: But know that for all these things God will bring you into judgment.

²⁵ For the thing which I greatly feared is come on me, and that which I was afraid of is come to me.

²¹ A dreadful sound is in his ears: In prosperity the destroyer shall come on him.

² You have given him his heart's desire, and have not withheld the request of his lips. Selah.

⁴ Delight yourself also in the LORD: And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

¹⁹ He will fulfill the desire of those that fear Him; He also will hear their cry, and will save them.

⁴ I also will choose their delusions, and will bring their fears upon them; because when I called, none answered; when I spoke, they did not hear: But they did evil before My eyes, and chose that in which I did not delight.

⁶ Blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness: For they shall be filled.

¹⁸ I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.

²⁴ Until now you have asked nothing in My name: Ask, and you shall receive, that your joy may be full.

²⁷ but a certain fearful expectation of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.

¹⁴ And this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us: ¹⁵ And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of Him.

¹⁸ They are as stubble before the wind, and as chaff that the storm carries away.

¹⁹ The rich man shall lie down, but he shall not be gathered: He opens his eyes, and he is not. ²⁰ Terrors take hold on him as waters, a tempest steals him away in the night. ²¹ The east wind carries him away, and he departs: And as a storm hurles him out of his place.

⁵ He that does not put out his money to receive usury, nor takes reward against the innocent. He that does these things shall never be moved.

⁹ For evildoers shall be cut off: But those that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth. ¹⁰ For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: Yes, you shall diligently consider his place, and it shall not be.

⁹ Before your pots can feel the burning thorn branches, He shall take them away as with a whirlwind, both living, and in His wrath.

¹⁸ Surely you have set them in slippery places: You cast them down into destruction. ¹⁹ How are they brought into desolation, as in a moment! They are utterly consumed with terrors. ²⁰ As a dream when one awakes; so, O Lord, when You awake, you shall despise their image.

²⁷ when your fear comes as desolation, and your destruction comes as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish come upon you.

³⁰ The righteous shall never be removed: But the wicked shall not inhabit the earth.

³ A man shall not be established by wickedness: But the root of the righteous shall not be moved.

⁷ The wicked are overthrown, and are not: But the house of the righteous shall stand.

²⁴ Yes, they shall not be planted; yes, they shall not be sown: Yes, their stock shall not take root in the earth: And He shall also blow on them, and they shall wither, and the whirlwind shall take them away as stubble.

¹⁸ And I also say to you that you are Peter, and upon this Rock you declared I will build My church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

²⁰ and are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone;

¹⁹ laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.

¹⁹ Nevertheless the foundation of God stands sure, having this seal: "The Lord knows those that are His." And, "Let everyone that names the name of Christ depart from iniquity."

¹³ As the cold of snow in the time of harvest, so is a faithful messenger to those that send him: For he refreshes the soul of his masters.

²⁰ As he that takes away a garment in cold weather, and as vinegar upon baking soda, so is he that sings songs to a heavy heart.

⁶ He that sends a message by the hand of a fool cuts off the feet, and drinks damage.

⁵ who say, 'Stand by yourself, do not come near to me; for I am holier than you.' These are a smoke in my nose, a fire that burns all day long.

²⁶ His lord answered and said to him, 'You wicked and slothful servant, you knew that I reap where I have not sown, and gather where I have not scattered seed:

¹¹ not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;

¹² That you are not slothful, but followers of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.

³² It shall be accomplished before his time, and his branch shall not be green. ³³ He shall shake off his unripe grape as the vine, and shall cast off his flower as the olive.

¹⁵ Have you marked the old way which wicked men have trodden? ¹⁶ Which were cut down out of time, whose foundation was overflowed with a flood:

⁴ He asked life of You, and You gave it to him, even length of days forever and ever.

¹¹ Come, you children, listen to me: I will teach you the fear of the LORD. ¹² What man is he that desires life, and loves many days, that he may see good? ¹³ Keep your tongue from evil, and your lips from speaking guile.

²³ But you, O God, shall bring them down into the pit of destruction: Bloody and deceitful men shall not live out half their days; but I will trust in You.

¹⁶ With long life I will satisfy him, and show him My salvation."

² For they shall add to you length of days, and long life, and peace.

¹⁶ Length of days is in her right hand; and in her left hand riches and honor.

¹¹ For by me your days shall be multiplied, and the years of your life shall be increased.

¹⁷ Do not be overly wicked, neither shall you be foolish: Why should you die before your time?

¹¹ As the partridge sits on eggs, and does not hatch them; so he who gets riches not rightly, shall leave them in the midst of his days, and at his end shall be a fool."

²⁰ But God said to him, 'You fool, this night your soul shall be required of you: Then whose shall those things be, which you have provided?'

¹³ So are the paths of all that forget God; and the hypocrite's hope shall perish:

²⁰ But the eyes of the wicked shall fail, and they shall not escape, and their hope shall be as the giving up of the ghost.

⁹ Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoices: My flesh also shall rest in hope.

²⁴ You shall guide me with your counsel, and afterward receive me to glory. ²⁵ Whom have I in heaven but you? And there is none on earth that I desire beside you. ²⁶ My flesh and my heart fails: But God is the strength of my heart, and my portion forever.

⁷ When a wicked man dies, his expectation shall perish: And the hope of unjust men perishes.

²³ And in hell he lifted up his eyes, being in torments, and saw Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. ²⁴ Then he cried and said, 'Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.' ²⁵ But Abraham said, 'Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things; but now he is comforted, and you are tormented. ²⁶ And besides all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: So that those which would pass from this place to you cannot; neither can those which would come from that place pass to us.'

² By whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

¹² rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing urgently in prayer;

¹³ Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Spirit.

¹⁶ Now our Lord Jesus Christ Himself, and God, even our Father, which has loved us, and has given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace,

³ Is not destruction to the wicked? And a strange punishment to the workers of iniquity?

⁶ For the LORD knows the way of the righteous: But the way of the ungodly shall perish.

¹² There the workers of iniquity are fallen: They are cast down, and shall not be able to rise.

²⁰ But the wicked shall perish, and the enemies of the LORD shall be as the fat of lambs: They shall consume into smoke; they shall consume away.

⁷ They go from strength to strength, every one of them in Zion appear before God.

⁷ When the wicked spring up as the grass, and when all the workers of iniquity flourish; it is that they shall be destroyed forever:

¹⁵ It is joy to the just to do judgment: But destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity.

³¹ But those who wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; they shall walk, and not faint.

¹² And I will strengthen them in the LORD; and they shall walk up and down in His name", says the LORD.

²² Many will say to Me in that day, 'Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name? And in Your name have cast out devils? And in Your name done many wonderful works?' ²³ And then I will profess to them, 'I never knew you: Depart from me, you that work iniquity.'

²⁶ Then you shall begin to say, 'We have eaten and drank in Your presence, and You have taught in our streets.' ²⁷ But He shall say, 'I tell you, I do not know you, nor what place you belong; depart from Me, all you workers of iniquity.'

⁸ But to those who are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath, ⁹ tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that does evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile;

¹³ I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me.

⁸ I have set the LORD always before me: Because He is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.

²⁸ For the LORD loves judgment, and does not forsake His saints; they are preserved forever: But the seed of the wicked shall be cut off. ²⁹ The righteous shall inherit the land, and dwell in it forever.

⁵ God shall likewise destroy you forever, he shall take you away, and pluck you out of your dwelling place, and root you out of the land of the living. Selah.

¹ A Song of degrees. Those who trust in the LORD shall be as Mount Zion which cannot be removed, but abides forever.

²¹ For the upright shall dwell in the land, and the perfect shall remain in it. ²² But the wicked shall be cut off from the earth, and the transgressors shall be rooted out of it.

²⁵ As the whirlwind passes, so is the wicked no more: But the righteous is an everlasting foundation.

²⁴ "Son of man, those who inhabit those wastes of the land of Israel speak, saying, 'Abraham was one, and he inherited the land: But we are many; the land is given to us as an inheritance.' ²⁵ Therefore say to them, 'Thus says the Lord GOD; "You eat with the blood, and lift up your eyes toward your idols, and shed blood: And shall you possess the land? ²⁶ You stand on your sword, you work abomination, anD Everyone defiles his neighbor's wife: And shall you possess the land?" '

⁹ You all have cast out the women of My people from their pleasant houses; from their children all of you have taken away My glory forever.women; or, wives ¹⁰ Arise, and depart; for this is not your rest: Because it is polluted, it shall destroy you, even with a sore destruction.

⁴¹ They said to Him, "He will miserably destroy those wicked men, and will lease out his vineyard to other vinedressers, which shall give him the fruits in their seasons."

³⁵ Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? ³⁶ As it is written, "For Your sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter." ³⁷ Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us. ³⁸ For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, ³⁹ nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

¹⁸ Let the lying lips be put to silence; which speak grievous things proudly and contemptuously against the righteous.

¹¹ But the king shall rejoice in God; everyone that swears by Him shall glory: But the mouth of those that speak lies shall be stopped.

³ What shall be given to you? Or what shall be done to you, you false tongue? ⁴ Sharp arrows of the mighty, with coals of juniper.

¹³ In the lips of him that has understanding wisdom is found: But a rod is for the back of him that is void of understanding.

¹² To deliver you from the way of the evil man, from the man that speaks froward things;

¹¹ By the blessing of the upright the city is exalted: But it is overthrown by the mouth of the wicked.

⁶ The words of the wicked are to lie in wait for blood: But the mouth of the upright shall deliver them.

² The tongue of the wise uses knowledge aright: But the mouth of fools pours out foolishness.

²⁸ The heart of the righteous studies to answer: But the mouth of the wicked pours out evil things.

⁶ A fool's lips enter into contention, and his mouth calls for strokes. ⁷ A fool's mouth is his destruction, and his lips are the snare of his soul. ⁸ The words of a talebearer are as wounds, and they go down into the innermost parts of the belly.

¹⁰ The preacher sought to find out acceptable words: And that which was written was upright, even words of truth.

⁸ sound speech, that cannot be condemned; so that he who is of the contrary point of view may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you.
