Proverbs 16 Cross References - TKJU

1 The preparations of the heart in man, and the answer of the tongue, is from the LORD. 2 All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; but the LORD weighs the spirits. 3 Commit your works to the LORD, and your thoughts shall be established. 4 The LORD has made all things for himself: Yes, even the wicked for the day of evil. 5 Everyone that is proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD: Though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished. 6 By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: And by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil. 7 When a man's ways please the LORD, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him. 8 Better is a little with righteousness than great revenues which are not right. 9 A man's heart devises his way: But the LORD directs his steps. 10 A divine sentence is in the lips of the king: His mouth does not transgress in judgment. 11 A just weight and balance are the LORD's: All the weights of the bag are His work. 12 It is an abomination to kings to commit wickedness: For the throne is established by righteousness. 13 Righteous lips are the delight of kings; and they love him that speaks right. 14 The wrath of a king is as messengers of death: But a wise man will pacify it. 15 In the light of the king's countenance is life; and his favor is as a cloud of the latter rain. 16 How much better it is to get wisdom than gold! And choosing to get understanding rather than silver! 17 The highway of the upright is to depart from evil: He that keeps his way preserves his soul. 18 Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall. 19 It is better to be of a humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud. 20 He that handles a matter wisely shall find good: And whoever trusts in the LORD, happy is he. 21 The wise in heart shall be called prudent: And the sweetness of the lips increases learning. 22 Understanding is a wellspring of life to him that has it: But the instruction of fools is folly. 23 The heart of the wise teaches his mouth, and adds learning to his lips. 24 Pleasant words are as a honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones. 25 There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end are the ways of death. 26 He that labors labors for himself; for his mouth craves it of him. 27 An ungodly man digs up evil: And in his lips there is as a burning fire. 28 A froward man sows strife: And a whisperer separates chief friends. 29 A violent man entices his neighbor, and leads him into the way that is not good. 30 He shuts his eyes to devise froward things: Moving his lips he brings evil to pass. 31 The whitish head is a crown of glory, if it be found in the way of righteousness. 32 He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that rules his spirit than he that takes a city. 33 The lot is cast into the lap; but the whole disposing of it is of the LORD.

25 Therefore I say to you, Take no thought for your life, what you shall eat, or what you shall drink; nor even for your body, what you shall put on. Is not the life more than food, and the body more than clothing? 26 Behold the birds of the air: For they do not sow, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much better than they? 27 Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit to his stature?1 Roman cubit is approximately 17.4 inches, or 44.2 centimeters. 28 Then why do you have cares pertaining to clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they do not toil, neither do they spin: 29 And yet I say to you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30 Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is cast into the oven, shall He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? 31 Therefore take no thought, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or, 'What shall we drink?' or, 'With what shall we be clothed?' 32 (For the Gentiles seek after all these things:) For your heavenly Father knows that you have need of all these things. 33 But you, seek first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added to you. 34 Therefore take no thought concerning tomorrow: For tomorrow shall take thought for the things of itself. For all things come of you, and of your own have we given you. 15 For we are strangers before you, and sojourners, as were all our fathers: Our days on the earth are as a shadow, and there is none abiding. 16 O LORD our God, all this store that we have prepared to build you a house for your holy name comes of your hand, and is all your own. 17 I know also, my God, that You prove the heart through testing, and have pleasure in uprightness. As for me, in the uprightness of my heart I have willingly offered all these things: And now I have seen with joy Your people, which are present here, to offer willingly to You. 18 O LORD God of Abraham, Isaac, and of Israel, our fathers, keep this forever in the imagination of the thoughts of the heart of your people, and prepare their heart to you: 19 And give to Solomon my son a perfect heart, to keep your commandments, your testimonies, and your statutes, and to do all these things, and to build the palace, for the which I have made provision. 20 And David said to all the congregation, Now bless the LORD your God. And all the congregation blessed the LORD God of their fathers, and bowed down their heads, and worshiped the LORD, and the king. 21 And they sacrificed sacrifices to the LORD, and offered burnt offerings to the LORD, on the next day after that day, even a thousand bulls, a thousand rams, and a thousand lambs, with their drink offerings, and sacrifices in abundance for all Israel: 22 And ate and drink before the LORD on that day with great gladness. And they made Solomon the son of David king the second time, and anointed him to the LORD to be the chief governor, and Zadok to be priest. 23 Then Solomon sat on the throne of the LORD as king instead of David his father, and prospered; and all Israel obeyed him. 24 And all the princes, and the mighty men, and all the sons likewise of king David, submitted themselves to Solomon the king. 25 And the LORD magnified Solomon exceedingly in the sight of all Israel, and bestowed on him such royal majesty as had not been on any king before him in Israel.
