¹ And the men of Ephraim said to him, "Why have you served us thus, that you called us not, when you went to fight with the Midianites? And they did chide with him sharply. ² And he said to them, "What have I done now in comparison of you? Is not the gleaning of the grapes of Ephraim better than the vintage of Abiezer? ³ God has delivered into your hands the princes of Midian, Oreb and Zeeb: And what was I able to do in comparison of you? ⁴³ And the men of Israel answered the men of Judah, and said, "We have ten parts in the king, and we have also more right in David than you: Why then did you despise us, that our advice should not be first had in bringing back our king? ¹¹ A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver. ¹² As an earring of gold, and an ornament of fine gold, so is a wise reprover upon an obedient ear.

⁴ The Lord GOD has given Me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him who is weary: He wakens morning by morning, He wakens my ear to hear as the learned.

⁹ For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him. Herein you have done foolishly: Therefore from now on you shall have wars.

⁴ Does not he see my ways, and count all my steps?

²¹ For his eyes are on the ways of man, and he sees all his goings. ²² There is no darkness, nor shadow of death, where the workers of iniquity may hide themselves.

²¹ For the ways of man are before the eyes of the LORD, and He ponders all his goings.

¹⁷ For My eyes are on all their ways: They are not hid from My face, neither is their iniquity hid from My eyes.

²⁴ Can anyone hide himself in secret places such that I shall not see him?" said the LORD. "Do I not fill heaven and earth?" said the LORD.

¹⁹ great in counsel, and mighty in work: For Your eyes are open on all the ways of the sons of men: To give every one according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings:

¹³ Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in His sight: But all things are naked and uncovered to the eyes of Him with Whom we have to give account.

²² And the LORD God said, "Behold, the man has become as one of Us, to know good and evil: And now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live forever": ²³ Therefore the LORD God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from where he was taken. ²⁴ So He drove out the man; and He placed Cherubims at the east of the garden of Eden, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to secure the way to the tree of life.

Nevertheless they did not hearken to the voice of their father, because the LORD would slay them.

¹ And it came to pass after this, that Absalom prepared him chariots and horses, and fifty men to run before him. ² And Absalom rose up early, and stood beside the way of the gate: And it was so, that when any man that had a controversy came to the king for judgment, then Absalom called to him, and said, "Of what city are you? And he said, "Your servant is of one of the tribes of Israel. ³ And Absalom said to him, "See, your matters are good and right; but there is no man deputed of the king to hear you. ⁴ Absalom said moreover, Oh that I were made judge in the land, that every man which has any suit or cause might come to me, and I would do him justice! ⁵ And it was so, that when any man came near to him to do him obeisance, he put forth his hand, and took him, and kissed him. ⁶ And on this manner did Absalom to all Israel that came to the king for judgment: So Absalom stole the hearts of the men of Israel.

¹¹ Now, my son, the LORD be with you; and prosper you, and build the house of the LORD your God, as he has said of you. ¹² Only the LORD give you wisdom and understanding, and give you charge concerning Israel, that you may keep the law of the LORD your God. ¹³ Then you shall prosper, if you take heed to fulfill the statutes and judgments which the LORD charged Moses with concerning Israel: Be strong, and of good courage; dread not, nor be dismayed.

⁹ And you, Solomon my son, know you the God of your father, and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind: For the LORD searches all hearts, and understands all the imaginations of the thoughts: If you seek him, he will be found of you; but if you forsake him, he will cast you off forever.

²⁰ And David said to Solomon his son, Be strong and of good courage, and do it: Fear not, nor be dismayed: For the LORD God, even my God, will be with you; he will not fail you, nor forsake you, until you have finished all the work for the service of the house of the LORD.

⁵ Let the righteous smite me; it shall be a kindness: And let him reprove me; it shall be an excellent oil, which shall not break my head: Notwithstanding, my prayer shall also be made throughout their calamities.

²³ Turn at my reproof: Behold, I will pour out my spirit to you, I will make my words known to you.

²³ For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life:

²⁰ Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that you may be wise in your latter end.

¹³ This report is true. Therefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith;

¹⁵ Speak these things, exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise you.

¹⁹ Because he has oppressed and has forsaken the poor; because he has violently taken away a house which he built not; ²⁰ surely he shall not feel quietness in his belly, he shall not save of that which he desired. ²¹ There shall none of his meat be left; therefore shall no man look for his goods. ²² In the fullness of his sufficiency he shall be in straits: Every hand of the wicked shall come on him. ²³ When he is about to fill his belly, God shall cast the fury of his wrath on him, and shall rain it on him while he is eating.

¹⁶ A little that a righteous man has is better than the riches of many wicked.

³ Wealth and riches shall be in his house: And his righteousness endures forever.

²¹ That I may cause those that love me to inherit substance; and I will fill their treasures.

²² The blessing of the LORD, it makes rich, and He adds no sorrow with it.

²² A good man leaves an inheritance to his children's children: And the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just.

¹⁶ Better is little with the fear of the LORD than great treasure and trouble with it.

⁸ Better is a little with righteousness than great revenues which are not right.

²⁰ There is treasure to be desired and oil in the dwelling of the wise; but a foolish man spends it all.

⁶ Better is a handful with quietness, than both hands full with travail and vexation of spirit.

¹⁰ He that loves silver shall not be satisfied with silver; nor he that loves abundance with increase: This also is vanity. ¹¹ When goods increase, those that eat them are increased: And what good is there to the owners of them, except the beholding of them with their eyes? ¹² The sleep of a laboring man is sweet, whether he eat little or much: But the abundance of the rich will not allow him to sleep. ¹³ There is a sore evil which I have seen under the sun, namely, riches kept for the owners of them to their hurt. ¹⁴ But those riches perish by evil travail: And he begets a son, and there is nothing in his hand.

²⁶ esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: For he had respect for the recompense of the reward.

¹ Go now, you rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you. ² Your riches are corrupted, and your clothes are moth-eaten. ³ Your gold and silver are cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as if it were fire. You have heaped treasure together for the last days.

³⁰ The mouth of the righteous speaks wisdom, and his tongue talks of judgment.

² You are fairer than the children of men: Grace is poured into Your lips: Therefore God has blessed You forever.

¹³ Then I will teach transgressors Your ways; and sinners shall be converted to You. ¹⁴ Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, You are the God of my salvation: And my tongue shall sing aloud of Your righteousness. ¹⁵ O Lord, open my lips; and my mouth shall declare Your praise.

¹⁵ My mouth shall show forth Your righteousness and Your salvation all the day long; for I do not know their numbers. ¹⁶ I will go in the strength of the Lord GOD: I will make mention of Your righteousness, even of Yours only. ¹⁷ O God, You have taught me from my youth: And until now I have declared Your wondrous works. ¹⁸ Now also when I am old and gray-headed, O God, do not forsake me; until I have showed Your strength to this generation, and Your power to everyone that is to come.

² I will open my mouth in a parable: I will utter dark sayings of old: ³ Which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us. ⁴ We will not hide them from their children, showing to the generation to come the praises of the LORD, and His strength, and His wonderful works that He has done. ⁵ For He established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel, which He commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their children: ⁶ That the generation to come might know them, even the children which should be born; who should arise and declare them to their children:

¹³ With my lips I have declared all the judgments of Your mouth.

²⁰ The tongue of the just is as choice silver: The heart of the wicked is worth little. ²¹ The lips of the righteous feed many: But fools die for lack of wisdom.

⁹ And moreover, because the preacher was wise, he still taught the people knowledge; yes, he gave good heed, and sought out, and set in order many proverbs. ¹⁰ The preacher sought to find out acceptable words: And that which was written was upright, even words of truth.

¹¹ Your lips, O my spouse, drop as the honeycomb: Honey and milk are under your tongue; and the smell of your garments is like the smell of Lebanon.

²⁷ What I tell you in darkness, that speak in light: And what you hear in the ear, that preach upon the housetops.

³⁴ O generation of vipers, how can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.

¹⁸ And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, "All power is given to Me in heaven and in earth. ¹⁹ Go therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit: ²⁰ Teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you: And lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the world." Amen.

¹⁵ And He said to them, "Go into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

⁹ Then the Lord spoke to Paul in the night by a vision, "Do not be afraid, but speak, and do not hold your peace: ¹⁰ For I am with you, and no man shall lay hold on you to hurt you: For I have many people in this city."

¹⁴ How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? ¹⁵ And how shall they preach, except if they are sent? As it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!" ¹⁶ But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah said, "LORD, who has believed our report?" ¹⁷ So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.

¹⁸ For I will not dare to speak of any of those things which Christ has not worked by me, to make the Gentiles obedient, by word and deed, ¹⁹ Through mighty signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God; so that from Jerusalem, and fully around to Illyricum, I have fully preached the gospel of Christ. ²⁰ Yes, in this manner I have strived to preach the gospel, not where Christ was named, lest I should build upon another man's foundation: ²¹ But as it is written, "To whom He was not spoken of, they shall see: And those that have not heard shall understand."

²⁹ Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good for the use of edifying, that it may minister grace to the hearers.

² And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit the same to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.

⁶ And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: Thus is the tongue among our members, that it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.

¹⁷ I know also, my God, that You prove the heart through testing, and have pleasure in uprightness. As for me, in the uprightness of my heart I have willingly offered all these things: And now I have seen with joy Your people, which are present here, to offer willingly to You.

¹ A Prayer of David. Hear the right, O LORD, attend to my cry, give ear to my prayer, that does not go out of feigned lips.

²⁹ The LORD is far from the wicked: But He hears the prayer of the righteous.

²⁷ The sacrifice of the wicked is abomination: How much more, when he brings it with a wicked mind?

⁹ He that turns away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination.

¹ Keep your foot when you go to the house of God, and be more ready to hear, than to give the sacrifice of fools: For they do not consider that they do evil.

¹⁴ O my dove, that are in the clefts of the rock, in the secret places of the stairs, let me see your countenance, let me hear your voice; for sweet is your voice, and your countenance is graceful.

¹⁰ Hear the word of the LORD, you rulers of Sodom; give ear to the law of our God, you people of Gomorrah. ¹¹ "To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices to Me?" said the LORD: "I am full of the burnt offerings of rams, and the fat of fed beasts; and I do not delight in the blood of bulls, or of lambs, or of he-goats. ¹² When you come to appear before Me, who has required this at your hand, to tread My courts? ¹³ Bring no more vain oblations; incense is an abomination to Me; the new moons and Sabbaths, the calling of assemblies, I cannot away endure; it is iniquity, even the solemn meeting. ¹⁴ My soul hates your new moons and your appointed feasts: They are a trouble to me; I am weary to bear them. ¹⁵ And when you spread forth your hands, I will hide my eyes from you: Yes, when you make many prayers, I will not hear: Your hands are full of blood.

⁸ "For I the LORD love judgment, I hate robbery for burnt offering; and I will direct their work in truth, and I will make an everlasting covenant with them.

³ He who kills an ox is as if he slew a man; he who sacrifices a lamb, as if he cut off a dog's neck; he who offers an oblation, as if he offered swine's blood; he who burns incense, as if he blessed an idol. Yes, they have chosen their own ways, and their soul delights in their abominations.

²⁰ For what purpose does incense from Sheba come to Me, and the sweet cane from a far country? Your burnt offerings are not acceptable, nor your sacrifices sweet to Me."

²¹ Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; "Put your burnt offerings to your sacrifices, and eat flesh. ²² For I did not speak to your fathers, nor commanded them in the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, concerning burnt offerings or sacrifices: ²³ But this thing I commanded them, saying, 'Obey My voice, and I will be your God, and you shall be My people: And walk in all the ways that I have commanded you, that it may be well to you.

²¹ I hate, I despise your feast days, and I will not smell scents in your solemn assemblies.solemn assemblies; or, holy days ²² Though you offer me burnt offerings and your food offerings, I will not accept them: Neither will I regard the peace offerings of your fat domestic beasts.peace offerings; or, thank offerings

²⁴ God is a Spirit: And those that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth."

⁶ For the LORD knows the way of the righteous: But the way of the ungodly shall perish.

⁸ The LORD opens the eyes of the blind: The LORD raises those who are bowed down: The LORD loves the righteous: ⁹ The LORD preserves the strangers; He relieves the fatherless and widow: But the way of the wicked He turns upside down.

¹⁹ The way of the wicked is as darkness: They know not at what they stumble.

⁴ A high look, and a proud heart, and the plowing of the wicked, is sin.

⁸ The way of man is froward and strange: But as for the pure, his work is right.

²¹ He that follows after righteousness and mercy finds life, righteousness, and honor.

⁷ The way of the just is uprightness: You, Most Upright, do weigh the path of the just.

¹ Listen to me, you who follow after righteousness, you that seek the LORD: Look to the rock from which you were hewn, and to the hole of the pit from which you were dug.

⁷ Listen to Me, you who know righteousness, the people in whose heart is My law; fear not the reproach of men, neither be afraid of their revilings.

⁴ However, I sent to you all my servants the prophets, rising early and sending them, saying, "Oh, do not do this abominable thing that I hate."

³ Then we shall know, if we follow on pursuing to know the LORD: His going forth is prepared like the morning; and He shall come to us as the rain, as the latter and former rain to the earth.

¹³ You are of purer eyes than to behold evil, and cannot look on iniquity: Why do You look upon those that deal treacherously, and hold Your tongue when the wicked devours the man that is more righteous than he?

¹³ Enter in at the narrow gate: For wide is the gate, and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in through it:

¹¹ But you, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.

²² Flee also youthful lusts: But follow righteousness, faith, love, peace, with those that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

¹⁷ And it came to pass, when Ahab saw Elijah, that Ahab said to him, "Are you he that troubles Israel?

²⁰ And Ahab said to Elijah, "Have you found me, O my enemy? And he answered, I have found you: Because you have sold yourself to work evil in the sight of the LORD.

⁸ And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, "There is yet one man, Micaiah the son of Imlah, by whom we may inquire of the LORD: But I hate him; for he does not prophesy good concerning me, but evil. And Jehoshaphat said, "Let not the king say so.

³⁰ They would have none of my counsel: They despised all my reproof.

¹² and say, "How I hated instruction, and my heart despised reproof;

¹⁷ He is in the way of life that keeps instruction: But he that refuses reproof errs.

¹ Whoever loves instruction loves knowledge: But he that hates reproof is brutish.

³⁵ "They have stricken me", you shall say, "and I was not sick; they have beaten me, and I did not feel it: When shall I awake? I will seek it yet again."

⁵ Why should you be stricken any more? You will revolt more and more: The whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint. ⁶ From the sole of the foot even to the head there is no soundness in it; but wounds, and bruises, and putrefying sores: They have not been closed, neither bound up, neither mollified with ointment.

¹³ In your filthiness is lewdness: Because I have purged you, and you were not purged, you shall not be purged from your filthiness any more, until I have caused My fury to rest on you. ¹⁴ I the LORD have spoken it: It shall come to pass, and I will do it; I will not go back, neither will I spare, neither will I repent; according to your ways, and according to your doings, they shall judge you", said the Lord GOD.

²⁰ For everyone that does evil hates the light, neither comes to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.

⁷ The world cannot hate you; but it hates Me, because I testify of it, that the works of the world are evil.

⁷ But the LORD said to Samuel, "Do not look on his countenance, nor on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: For the LORD does not see as man sees; for man looks on the outward appearance, but the LORD looks on the heart."

³⁰ Then hear you from heaven your dwelling place, and forgive, and render to every man according to all his ways, whose heart you know; (for you only know are the hearts of the children of men before Him):

⁶ Hell is naked before him, and destruction has no covering.

⁹ Oh let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end; but establish the just: For the righteous God proves the hearts and inner reins through testing.

²¹ shall not God search this out? For He knows the secrets of the heart.

⁸ If I ascend up into heaven, You are there: If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there.

²⁰ Hell and destruction are never full; so the eyes of man are never satisfied.

¹⁰ I, the LORD, search the heart, I test the mind, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.

²⁴ But Jesus did not commit Himself to them, because He knew all men, ²⁵ and did not need from man that any should testify: For He knew what was in man.

¹⁷ He said to him the third time, "Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?" Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, "Do you love Me?" And he said to Him, "Lord, You know all things; You know that I love You." Jesus said to him, "Feed My sheep.

¹⁸ I am He that lives, and was dead; and behold, I am alive forevermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.

²³ And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am He which searches the inner reins and hearts: And I will give to every one of you according to your works.

⁷ And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, "There is yet one man, by whom we may inquire of the LORD: But I hate him; for he never prophesied good to me, but always evil: The same is Micaiah the son of Imla. And Jehoshaphat said, "Let not the king say so.

¹⁴ Therefore they say to God, Depart from us; for we desire not the knowledge of your ways.

⁷ He that reproves a scorner gets shame to himself: And he that rebukes a wicked man gets himself a blemish. ⁸ Do not reprove a scorner, lest he hate you: Rebuke a wise man, and he will love you.

¹⁰ Correction is grievous to him that forsakes the way: And he that hates reproof shall die.

¹⁰ They hate him that rebukes in the gate, and they abhor him that speaks uprightly.

¹⁸ He that believes in Him is not condemned: But he that does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. ¹⁹ And this is the condemnation, that light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. ²⁰ For everyone that does evil hates the light, neither comes to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. ²¹ But he who does truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are worked in God."

³ For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts they shall heap up to themselves teachers, having itching ears;

² Why the king said to me, Why is your countenance sad, seeing you are not sick? This is nothing else but sorrow of heart. Then I was very severely afraid,

²⁵ Heaviness in the heart of man makes it stoop: But a good word makes it glad.

¹⁵ All the days of the afflicted are evil: But he that is of a merry heart has a continual feast.

²² A merry heart does good like a medicine: But a broken spirit dries the bones.

¹ "Let not your heart be troubled: You believe in God, believe also in Me.

¹² For our rejoicing is this, the testimony of our conscience, that in simplicity and godly sincerity, not with fleshly wisdom, but by the grace of God, we have had our conversation in the world, and more abundantly toward you.

⁷ So that on the contrary you ought rather to forgive him, and comfort him, lest perhaps such a one should be swallowed up with too much sorrow.

¹⁰ For godly sorrow works out repentance to salvation, not to be regretted: But the sorrow of the world works death.

⁶ And Solomon said, "You have showed to your servant David my father great mercy, according to as he walked before you in truth, and in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with you; and you have kept for him this great kindness, that you have given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day. ⁷ And now, O LORD my God, you have made your servant king instead of David my father: And I am but a little child: I do not know how to go out or come in. ⁸ And your servant is in the midst of your people which you have chosen, a great people, that cannot be numbered nor counted for multitude. ⁹ Give therefore your servant an understanding heart to judge your people, that I may discern between good and bad: For who is able to judge this your so great a people? ¹⁰ And the speech pleased the LORD, that Solomon had asked this thing. ¹¹ And God said to him, "Because you have asked this thing, and have not asked for yourself long life; neither have asked riches for yourself, nor have asked the life of your enemies; but have asked for yourself understanding to discern judgment; ¹² behold, I have done according to your words: Lo, I have given you a wise and an understanding heart; so that there was none like you before you, neither after you shall any arise like to you.

⁹⁷ MEM: O how I love Your law! It is my meditation all the day long.

¹⁰⁰ I understand more than the ancients, because I keep Your precepts.

⁵ A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain to wise counsels:

⁹ Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: Teach a just man, and he will increase in learning.

¹⁵ The heart of the prudent gets knowledge; and the ear of the wise seeks knowledge.

¹⁰ Which say to the seers, "See not"; and to the prophets, "Do not prophesy to us right things, speak to us smooth things, prophesy deceits:

²⁰ He feeds on ashes: A deceived heart has turned him aside, that he cannot deliver his soul, nor say, "Is there not a lie in my right hand?"

¹ "Ephraim feeds on wind, and follows after the east wind: He daily increases lies and desolation; and they make a covenant with the Assyrians, and oil is carried into Egypt.

¹¹ These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether these things were so.

¹⁸ But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be glory both now and forever. Amen.

³⁵ And all his sons and all his daughters rose up to comfort him; but he refused to be comforted; and he said, "For I will go down into the grave to my son still mourning." Thus his father wept for him.

⁹ And Jacob said to Pharaoh, "The days of the years of my pilgrimage are a hundred and thirty years: Few and evil have been the days of the years of my life, and I have not attained to the days of the years of the life of my fathers in the days of their pilgrimage."

⁷ For we are consumed by Your anger, and by Your wrath we are troubled. ⁸ You have set our iniquities before You, our secret sins in the light of Your countenance. ⁹ For all our days are passed away in Your wrath: We spend our years as a tale that is told.

¹³ A merry heart makes a cheerful countenance: But by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken.

²² Understanding is a wellspring of life to him that has it: But the instruction of fools is folly.

²⁵ And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises to God: And the prisoners heard them.

² By whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. ³ And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations: Knowing that tribulation works patience;

¹¹ And not only that, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.

¹² rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing urgently in prayer;

⁵ For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also abounds by Christ.

¹⁰ as sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all things.

⁶ In which you greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, you are in heaviness through diverse temptations: ⁷ That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perishes, though it be tried with fire, might be found to praise and honor and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ: ⁸ Whom having not seen, you love; in whom, though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with unspeakable joy and full of glory:

¹³ But rejoice, considering that you are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that when His glory shall be revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy.

⁶ Better is the poor that walks in his uprightness, than he that is perverse in his ways, though he be rich.

¹⁰ And whatever my eyes desired I did not keep from them, I did not withhold my heart from any joy; for my heart rejoiced in all my labor: And this was my portion of all my labor. ¹¹ Then I looked on all the works that my hands had worked, and on the labor that I had labored to do: And behold, all was vanity and vexation of spirit, and there was no profit under the sun.

¹⁸ Yes, I hated all my labor in which I toiled under the sun: Because I should leave it to the man that shall be after me. ¹⁹ And who knows whether he shall be a wise man or a fool? Yet he shall have rule over all my labor in which I have labored, and in which I have showed myself wise under the sun. This also is vanity. ²⁰ Therefore I went about to cause my heart to despair of all the labor which I took under the sun. ²¹ For there is a man whose labor is in wisdom, and in knowledge, and in equity; yet to a man who has not labored in it, he shall leave it for his portion. This also is vanity and a great evil. ²² For what has man from all his labor, and from the vexation of his heart, in which he has labored under the sun? ²³ For all his days are sorrows, and his labor grief; yes, his heart does not take rest in the night. This also is vanity.

¹⁰ He that loves silver shall not be satisfied with silver; nor he that loves abundance with increase: This also is vanity. ¹¹ When goods increase, those that eat them are increased: And what good is there to the owners of them, except the beholding of them with their eyes? ¹² The sleep of a laboring man is sweet, whether he eat little or much: But the abundance of the rich will not allow him to sleep.

⁶ But godliness with contentment is great gain.

¹ A Song of degrees of David. Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! ² It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron's beard: That went down to the lower hems of his garments; ³ as the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: For there the LORD commanded the blessing, even life forevermore.

¹ Better is a dry morsel, and quietness with it, than a house full of sacrifices with strife.

¹⁹ It is better to dwell in the wilderness, than with a contentious and an angry woman.

⁴ Again, he sent forth other servants, saying, 'Tell those who are invited, "Behold, I have prepared my dinner; my oxen and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready: Come to the marriage." '

²³ And bring here the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry:

¹ Therefore if there is any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any inward affection and mercies,

¹⁶ And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love; and he that dwells in love dwells in God, and God in him.

⁸ And Abram said to Lot, "Let there be no strife, I implore you, between me and you, and between my herdsmen and your herdsmen; for we are brethren. ⁹ Is not the whole land before you? Separate yourself, I implore you, from me: If you will take the left hand side, then I will go to the right; or if you depart to the right hand side, then I will go to the left."

²⁴ and fell at his feet, and said, "Upon me, my lord, upon me let this iniquity be: And let your handmaid, I implore you, speak in your audience, and hear the words of your handmaid. ²⁵ Let not my lord, I implore you, regard this man of Belial, even Nabal: For as his name is, so is he; Nabal is his name, and folly is with him: But I, your handmaid, did not see the young men of my lord, whom you sent. ²⁶ Now therefore, my lord, as the LORD lives, and as your soul lives, seeing the LORD has withheld you from coming to shed blood, and from avenging yourself with your own hand, now let your enemies, and those that seek evil to my lord, be as Nabal. ²⁷ And now this blessing which your handmaid has brought to my lord, let it even be given to the young men that follow my lord. ²⁸ I implore you, forgive the trespass of your handmaid: For the LORD will certainly make my lord a sure house; because my lord fights the battles of the LORD, and evil has not been found in you all your days. ²⁹ Yet a man is risen to pursue you, and to seek your soul: But the soul of my lord shall be bound in the bundle of life with the LORD your God; and the souls of your enemies, those ones He shall sling out, as out of the middle of a sling. ³⁰ And it shall come to pass, when the LORD shall have done to my lord according to all the good that he has spoken concerning you, and shall have appointed you ruler over Israel; ³¹ that this shall be no grief to you, nor offense of heart to my lord, either that you have shed blood without cause, or that my lord has avenged himself: But when the LORD shall have dealt well with my lord, then remember your handmaid." ³² And David said to Abigail, "Blessed be the LORD God of Israel, which sent you to meet me this day: ³³ And blessed be your advice, and blessed be you, which have kept me from coming to shed blood this day, and from avenging myself with my own hand. ³⁴ For surely, as the LORD God of Israel lives, which has kept me back from hurting you, unless you had hurried and come to meet me, surely there would not have been left to Nabal anything that pisses against the wall by the morning light." ³⁵ So David received from her hand that which she had brought him, and said to her, "Go up in peace to your house; see, I have hearkened to your voice, and have accepted your person." ³⁶ And Abigail came to Nabal; and behold, he held a feast in his house, like the feast of a king; and Nabal's heart was merry within him, for he was very drunk: Therefore she told him nothing, less or more, until the morning light. ³⁷ But it came to pass in the morning, when the wine was gone out of Nabal, and his wife had told him these things, that his heart died within him, and he became as a stone. ³⁸ And it came to pass about ten days after, that the LORD smote Nabal, that he died. ³⁹ And when David heard that Nabal was dead, he said, "Blessed be the LORD, that has pleaded the cause of my reproach from the hand of Nabal, and has kept His servant from evil: For the LORD has returned the wickedness of Nabal upon his own head." And David sent and communed with Abigail, to take her to him to wife. ⁴⁰ And when the servants of David had come to Abigail at Carmel, they spoke to her, saying, "David sent us to you, to take you to him to wife." ⁴¹ And she arose, and bowed herself on her face to the earth, and said, "Behold, let your handmaid be a servant to wash the feet of the servants of my lord." ⁴² And Abigail hurried, and arose, and rode upon a donkey, with five damsels of hers that went after her; and she went after the messengers of David, and became his wife. ⁴³ David also took Ahinoam of Jezreel; and they were his wives also, both of them. ⁴⁴ But Saul had given his daughter Michal, David's wife, to Phalti the son of Laish, who was of Gallim.

⁴³ And the men of Israel answered the men of Judah, and said, "We have ten parts in the king, and we have also more right in David than you: Why then did you despise us, that our advice should not be first had in bringing back our king? And the words of the men of Judah were fiercer than the words of the men of Israel.

²⁹ He that is slow to wrath is of great understanding: But he that is hasty of spirit exalts folly.

¹ A soft answer turns away wrath: But grievous words stir up anger.

²⁸ A froward man sows strife: And a whisperer separates chief friends.

²¹ As coals are to burning coals, and wood to fire; so is a contentious man to kindle strife.

⁴ If the spirit of the ruler rises up against you, do not leave your place; for yielding pacifies great offenses.

⁹ Blessed are the peacemakers: For they shall be called the children of God.

¹ Now in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplied, there arose a murmuring by the Grecians against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily ministration. ² Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples to them, and said, "It is not reasonable that we should leave the Word of God, and serve tables. ³ Therefore, brethren, seek out from among you seven men of honest repute, full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business. ⁴ But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word." ⁵ And the saying pleased the whole multitude: And they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit, and Philip, Prochorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicolas a proselyte from Antioch:

¹⁹ Therefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath: ²⁰ For the wrath of man does not work the righteousness of God.

¹⁴ But if you have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, do not boast, and do not lie against the truth. ¹⁵ This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish. ¹⁶ For where envying and strife are, there is confusion and every evil work.

¹ And all the congregation lifted up their voice, and cried; and the people wept that night. ² And all the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron: And the whole congregation said to them, "Would God that we had died in the land of Egypt! Or would God we had died in this wilderness! ³ And why has the LORD brought us to this land, to fall by the sword, that our wives and our children should be a prey? Were it not better for us to return into Egypt?

⁷ And they spoke to all the company of the children of Israel, saying, "The land, which we passed through to search it, is an exceeding good land. ⁸ If the LORD delight in us, then he will bring us into this land, and give it us; a land which flows with milk and honey. ⁹ Only rebel not you against the LORD, neither fear you the people of the land; for they are bread for us: Their defense is departed from them, and the LORD is with us: Fear them not.

⁸ Lead me, O LORD, in Your righteousness because of my enemies; make Your way straight before my face.

⁸ Good and upright is the LORD: Therefore He will teach sinners in the way. ⁹ The meek He will guide in judgment: And He will teach the meek His way.

¹² What man is he that fears the LORD? He shall teach him in the way that He shall choose.

¹¹ Teach me Your way, O LORD, and lead me in a plain path, because of my enemies.

⁶ In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.

⁹ They are all plain to him that understands, and right to those that find knowledge.

⁵ Thorns and snares are in the way of the froward: He that keeps his soul shall be far from them.

¹³ The slothful man says, "There is a lion outside, I shall be slain in the streets."

¹³ The slothful man says, "There is a lion in the way; a lion is in the streets."

²¹ And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, "This is the way, walk in it, when you turn to the right hand side, and when you turn to the left.

⁸ And a highway shall be there, and a way, and it shall be called The way of holiness; the unclean shall not pass over it; but it shall be for those: The wayfaring men, though fools, shall not err in it.

¹⁴ and shall say, "Cast up all of you, cast up all of you, prepare the way, take the stumbling-block up out of the way of My people."

¹² Honor your father and your mother: That your days may be long upon the land which the LORD your God gives you.

³ You shall fear every man his mother, and his father, and keep My Sabbaths: I am the LORD your God.

⁴⁸ And also thus said the king, 'Blessed be the LORD God of Israel, which has given one to sit on my throne this day, my eyes even seeing it.' "

⁹ Now therefore hold him not guiltless: For you are a wise man, and know what you ought to do to him; but his hoar head bring you down to the grave with blood.

⁷ And it came to pass, when Hiram heard the words of Solomon, that he rejoiced greatly, and said, "Blessed be the LORD this day, which has given to David a wise son over this great people.

¹⁵ My son, if your heart be wise, my heart shall rejoice, even mine. ¹⁶ Yes, my reins shall rejoice, when your lips speak right things.

²² Hearken to your father that begat you, and do not despise your mother when she is old.

³ Whoever loves wisdom rejoices his father: But he that keeps company with harlots spends his substance.

¹⁷ The eye that mocks at his father, and despises to obey his mother, the ravens of the valley shall pick it out, and the young eagles shall eat it.

²² But you know he has proven himself, that, as a son with the father, he has served with me in the gospel.

²⁸ And to man he said, "Behold, the fear of the LORD, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding.

¹⁰ The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: A good understanding have all those who do His commandments: His praise endures forever.

²³ It is as sport to a fool to do mischief: But a man of understanding has wisdom.

¹² He that is void of wisdom despises his neighbor: But a man of understanding holds his peace.

⁹ Fools make a mock at sin: But among the righteous there is favor.

¹⁶ A wise man fears, and departs from evil: But the fool rages, and is confident.

¹⁸ As a mad man who casts firebrands, arrows, and death, ¹⁹ so is the man that deceives his neighbor, and says, "Am I not just playing?"

¹⁵ See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,

¹³ Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? Let him show out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom.

¹⁴ Where no counsel is, the people fall: But in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.

¹⁸ Every purpose is established by counsel: And with good advice make war.

⁶ Because to every purpose there is time and judgment, therefore the misery of man is great on him.

¹⁴ A man shall be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth: And the recompense of a man's hands shall be rendered to him.

¹³ Righteous lips are the delight of kings; and they love him that speaks right.

²⁶ Every man shall kiss his lips that gives a right answer.

¹ To every thing there is a season, and a time for every purpose under the heaven:

¹¹ You will show me the path of life: In Your presence is fullness of joy; at Your right hand there are pleasures forevermore.

²⁴ And see if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

¹⁸ For her house inclines to death, and her paths to the dead.

⁵ Her feet go down to death; her steps take hold on hell.

²⁷ Her house is the way to hell, going down to the chambers of death.

⁸ Do not reprove a scorner, lest he hate you: Rebuke a wise man, and he will love you.

¹⁴ You shall beat him with the rod, and shall deliver his soul from hell.

⁸ And to this people you shall say, 'Thus says the LORD; "Behold, I set before you the way of life, and the way of death.

¹⁴ Because straight is the gate, and narrow is the pathway which leads to life, and there are few that find it.

⁶ Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life: No man comes to the Father, except by Me.

²⁰ For our intimate fellowship is in heaven; from which we also look for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ:

¹ If then you are risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sits at the right hand of God. ² Set your affections on things above, not on things on the earth.

¹⁷ For the LORD your God is God of gods, and Lord of lords, a great God, a mighty, and a terrible, which regards not persons, nor takes reward: ¹⁸ He does execute the judgment of the fatherless and widow, and loves the stranger, in giving him food and clothing.

¹⁴ You shall not remove your neighbor's landmark, which they of old time have set in your inheritance, which you shall inherit in the land that the LORD your God gives you to possess it.

¹¹ Cast abroad the rage of your wrath: And behold everyone that is proud, and abase him. ¹² Look on everyone that is proud, and bring him low; and tread down the wicked in their place. ¹³ Hide them in the dust together; and bind their faces in secret.

¹ To the chief Musician, Maschil, A Psalm of David, when Doeg the Edomite came and told Saul, and said unto him, "David has come to the house of Ahimelech." Why do you boast about yourself in mischief, O mighty man? The goodness of God endures continually.

⁵ God shall likewise destroy you forever, he shall take you away, and pluck you out of your dwelling place, and root you out of the land of the living. Selah.

⁵ A father of the fatherless, and a judge of the widows, is God in His holy habitation. ⁶ God sets the solitary in families: He brings out those which are bound with chains: But the rebellious dwell in a dry land.

⁶ Though the LORD is high, yet He has respect to the lowly: But the proud He knows afar off.

⁹ The LORD preserves the strangers; He relieves the fatherless and widow: But the way of the wicked He turns upside down.

⁷ The wicked are overthrown, and are not: But the house of the righteous shall stand.

¹¹ The house of the wicked shall be overthrown: But the tabernacle of the upright shall flourish.

¹⁰ Do not remove the old landmark; and do not enter into the fields of the fatherless:

¹² For the day of the LORD of hosts shall be on everyone that is proud and lofty, and on everyone that is lifted up; and he shall be brought low:

²⁰ But when his heart was lifted up, and his mind hardened in pride, he was disposed from his kingly throne, and they took his glory from him:

²⁷ Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

⁵ Likewise you younger ones, submit yourselves to the elder. Yes, all of you be subject to one another, and be clothed with humility: For "God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble."

¹⁴ Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in Your sight, O LORD, my strength, and my Redeemer.

³⁰ The mouth of the righteous speaks wisdom, and his tongue talks of judgment. ³¹ The law of his God is in his heart; none of his steps shall slide.

¹⁶ These six things the LORD hates: Yes, seven are an abomination to Him: ¹⁷ A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, ¹⁸ a heart that devises wicked imaginations, feet that are swift in running to mischief, ¹⁹ a false witness that speaks lies, and he that sows discord among brethren.

⁹ The thought of foolishness is sin: And the scorner is an abomination to men.

¹⁴ O Jerusalem, wash your heart from wickedness, that you may be saved. How long shall your vain thoughts lodge within you?

³⁴ O generation of vipers, how can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. ³⁵ A good man out of the good treasure of the heart brings forth good things: And an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things. ³⁶ But I say to you that every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account of it in the day of judgment. ³⁷ For by your words you shall be justified, and by your words you shall be condemned."

¹⁹ For out of the heart proceeds evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:

²¹ Moreover you shall provide out of all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them, to be rulers of thousands, and rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens:

⁸ And you shall not take a gift: For the gift blinds the wise, and perverts the words of the righteous.the wise: In Hebrew, the seeing

²⁶ Neither shall you bring an abomination into your house, lest you be a cursed thing like it: But you shall utterly detest it, and you shall utterly abhor it; for it is a cursed thing.

¹⁹ You shall not wrest judgment; you shall not respect persons, neither take a gift: For a gift does blind the eyes of the wise, and pervert the words of the righteous.

¹⁸ As for all of you, at the very least keep yourselves from the accursed thing, lest you all make yourselves accursed, when you all take of the accursed thing, and make the camp of Israel a curse, and trouble it.

¹¹ Israel has sinned, and they have also transgressed My covenant which I commanded them: For they have even taken of the accursed thing, and have also stolen, and dissembled also, and they have put it even among their own stuff. ¹² Therefore the children of Israel could not stand before their enemies, but turned their backs before their enemies, because they were accursed: Neither will I be with you any more, except you destroy the accursed from among you.

²⁴ And Joshua, and all Israel with him, took Achan the son of Zerah, and the silver, and the garment, and the wedge of gold, and his sons, and his daughters, and his oxen, and his donkeys, and his sheep, and his tent, and all that he had: And they brought them to the valley of Achor. ²⁵ And Joshua said, "Why have you troubled us? The LORD shall trouble you this day. And all Israel stoned him with stones, and burned them with fire, after they had stoned them with stones.

³ And his sons did not walk in his ways, but turned aside after dishonest gain, and took bribes, and perverted judgment. ⁴ Then all the elders of Israel gathered themselves together, and came to Samuel to Ramah. ⁵ And said to him, "Behold, you are old, and your sons do not walk in your ways: Now make us a king to judge us like all the nations."

²⁷ The leprosy therefore of Naaman shall stick to you, and to your seed forever. And he went out from his presence a leper as white as snow.

¹⁹ So are the ways of everyone that is greedy of gain; which takes away the life of its owners.

¹⁹ As righteousness tends to life: So he that pursues evil pursues it to his own death.

²⁹ He that troubles his own house shall inherit the wind: And the fool shall be servant to the wise of heart.

²¹ An inheritance may be obtained hastily at the beginning; but the end of it shall not be blessed.

¹⁶ The prince that wants understanding is also a great oppressor: But he that hates covetousness shall prolong his days.

⁴ The king by judgment establishes the land: But he that receives gifts overthrows it.

⁸ Woe to those that join house to house, that lay field to field, till there be no place, that they may be placed alone in the midst of the land! ⁹ In My ears said the LORD of hosts, "Truly, many houses shall be desolate, even great and fair looking ones, without inhabitant. ¹⁰ Yes, ten acres of vineyard shall yield one bath, and the seed of a homer shall yield an ephah.

¹⁵ He who walks righteously, and speaks uprightly; he who despises the gain of oppressions, who shakes his hands from holding bribes, who stops his ears from hearing of blood, and shuts his eyes from seeing evil; ¹⁶ he shall dwell on high: His place of defense shall be the fortress of rocks: Bread shall be given him; his waters shall be sure.

¹¹ As the partridge sits on eggs, and does not hatch them; so he who gets riches not rightly, shall leave them in the midst of his days, and at his end shall be a fool."

⁹ Woe to him that covets an evil covetousness to establish his house, that he may set his nest on high, that he may be delivered from the power of evil! ¹⁰ You have consulted shame to establish your house by cutting off many people, and have sinned against your soul. ¹¹ For the stone shall cry out of the wall, and the beam out of the timber shall answer it.

³ Then he said to me, "This is the curse that goes forth over the face of the whole earth: For everyone that steals shall be cut off as on this side according to it; and everyone that swears shall be cut off as on that side according to it." ⁴ "I will bring it forth", says the LORD of hosts, "and it shall enter into the house of the thief, and into the house of him that swears falsely by My name: And it shall remain in the midst of his house, and shall consume it with its timber and its stones."

²³ Then said the king, The one said, "This is my son that lives, and your son is the dead: And the other said, "No; but your son is the dead, and my son is the living. ²⁴ And the king said, "Bring me a sword. And they brought a sword before the king. ²⁵ And the king said, "Divide the living child in two, and give half to the one, and half to the other. ²⁶ Then spoke the woman whose the living child was to the king, for her bowels yearned on her son, and she said, "O my lord, give her the living child, and in no wise slay it. But the other said, "Let it be neither my nor yours, but divide it. ²⁷ Then the king answered and said, "Give her the living child, and in no wise slay it: She is its mother. ²⁸ And all Israel heard of the judgment which the king had judged; and they feared the king: For they saw that the wisdom of God was in him, to do judgment.

¹⁹ In the multitude of words sin is not lacking: But he that refrains his lips is wise.

² The tongue of the wise uses knowledge aright: But the mouth of fools pours out foolishness.

¹¹ A fool utters all his mind: But a wise man keeps it in till afterwards.

²⁰ See a man that is hasty in his words? There is more hope for a fool than for him.

² Do not be rash with your mouth, and do not let your heart be hasty to utter anything before God: For God is in heaven, and you on earth: Therefore let your words be few.

⁶ Do not allow your mouth to cause your flesh to sin; neither shall you say before the angel, that it was an error: Why should God be angry at your voice, and destroy the work of your hands?

¹² The words of a wise man's mouth are gracious; but the lips of a fool will swallow himself up. ¹³ The words of his mouth begin with foolishness: And the end of his talk is mischievous madness. ¹⁴ A fool also is full of words: A man cannot tell what shall be; and who can tell him what shall be after him?

¹⁰ For there are many unruly and vain talkers, and deceivers, especially those of the circumcision: ¹¹ Whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not to, for the sake of filthy profit.

⁶ And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: Thus is the tongue among our members, that it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell. ⁷ For every kind of beast, and birds, serpents, and things in the sea are tamed, and have been tamed by mankind: ⁸ But no man can tame the tongue; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.

¹⁵ But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: And always be ready to give an answer to every man that asks you a reason for the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:

¹⁸ For when they speak great swelling words of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through much wantonness, those that had truly escaped from those who live in error.

¹ Why do You stand afar off, O LORD? Why do You hide Yourself in times of trouble?

⁴¹ They cried, but there was none to save them: Even to the LORD, but He did not answer them.

¹⁵ The eyes of the LORD are upon the righteous, and His ears are open to their cry. ¹⁶ The face of the LORD is against those that do evil, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth. ¹⁷ The righteous cry, and the LORD hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles.

¹⁸ If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me: ¹⁹ But truly God has heard me; He has attended to the voice of my prayer.

²⁷ For lo, those that are far from You shall perish: You have destroyed all those that go a whoring from You.

¹⁸ The LORD is near to all those that call upon Him, to all that call upon Him in truth. ¹⁹ He will fulfill the desire of those that fear Him; He also will hear their cry, and will save them.

⁸ The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD: But the prayer of the upright is His delight.

⁸ "For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways", said the LORD. ⁹ "For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.

⁴⁶ And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: But the righteous into life eternal."

³¹ Now we know that God does not hear sinners: But if any man is a worshiper of God, and does His will, He hears him.

²⁶ Likewise the Spirit also helps our infirmities: For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought: But the Spirit itself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. ²⁷ Moreover He that searches the hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

¹² because at that time you were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world: ¹³ But now in Christ Jesus you who sometimes were far off are brought near by the blood of Christ.

¹⁶ Confess your faults to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. ¹⁷ Elijah was a man subject to similar passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: And it did not rain on the earth for a period of three years and six months. ¹⁸ And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.

¹² For the eyes of the LORD are upon the righteous, and His ears are open to their prayers: But the face of the LORD is against those that do evil."

⁸ And now for a little space grace has been showed from the LORD our God, to leave us a remnant to escape, and to give us a nail in his holy place, that our God may lighten our eyes, and give us a little reviving in our bondage.

¹⁵ Blessed are the people who know the joyful sound; they shall walk, O LORD, in the light of Your countenance.

⁸ It shall be health to your navel, and marrow to your bones.

⁹ The light of the righteous rejoices: But the lamp of the wicked shall be put out.

²⁵ As cold waters to a thirsty soul, so is good news from a far country.

⁷ Truly the light is sweet, and it is a pleasant thing for the eyes to behold the sun:

¹¹ And the LORD shall guide you continually, and satisfy your soul in drought, and make your bones fat: And you shall be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not.

¹⁰ Then the angel said to them, "Do not fear: For behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. ¹¹ For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord. ¹² And this shall be a sign to you; you shall find the Babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger." ¹³ Then suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, ¹⁴ "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men." ¹⁵ And it came to pass, after the angels had gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, "Let us even now travel to Bethlehem, and see this thing that has come to pass, which the Lord has made known to us." ¹⁶ And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the Babe lying in a manger. ¹⁷ Moreover when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this Child. ¹⁸ And all those who heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds. ¹⁹ But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart.

²³ And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: For the glory of God illuminates it, and the Lamb is the light of it.

⁵ And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God gives them light: And they shall reign forever and ever.

⁸ Do not reprove a scorner, lest he hate you: Rebuke a wise man, and he will love you. ⁹ Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: Teach a just man, and he will increase in learning.

²⁰ He that walks with wise men shall be wise: But a companion of fools shall be destroyed.

⁵ A fool despises his father's instruction: But he that regards reproof is prudent.

³ Incline your ear, and come to Me: Hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David.

³ Now you are clean through the word which I have spoken to you. ⁴ Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine; no more can you, unless you abide in Me.

¹⁹ They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: But they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.

¹⁸ If a man have a stubborn and rebellious son, which will not obey the voice of his father, or the voice of his mother, and that, when they have chastened him, will not listen to them:

²⁰ and they shall say to the elders of his city, This our son is stubborn and rebellious, he will not obey our voice; he is a glutton, and a drunkard.

¹⁷ Seeing you hate instruction, and cast My words behind you.

⁷ The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: But fools despise wisdom and instruction.

²⁴ Because I have called, and you refused; I have outstretched my hand, and no man regarded; ²⁵ but you have disregarded all my counsel, and would have none of my reproof: ²⁶ I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear comes; ²⁷ when your fear comes as desolation, and your destruction comes as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish come upon you. ²⁸ Then they shall call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me: ²⁹ For they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD: ³⁰ They would have none of my counsel: They despised all my reproof. ³¹ Therefore they shall eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices. ³² For the backsliding of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them. ³³ But whoever hearkens to me shall dwell safely, and shall be at ease from fear of evil.

¹¹ and at the end you mourn, when your flesh and your body are consumed, ¹² and say, "How I hated instruction, and my heart despised reproof; ¹³ and have not obeyed the voice of my teachers, nor inclined my ear to those that instructed me!

³³ Hear instruction, and be wise, and do not refuse it. ³⁴ Blessed is the man that hears me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors. ³⁵ For whoever finds me finds life, and shall obtain favor of the LORD. ³⁶ But he that sins against me wrongs his own soul: All those that hate me love death."

¹⁴ The heart of him that has understanding seeks knowledge: But the mouth of fools feeds on foolishness.

²¹ Folly is joy to him that is destitute of wisdom: But a man of understanding walks uprightly.

¹⁶ For what reason is there a price in the hand of a fool to get wisdom, seeing he has no heart toward it?

¹ He, that often being reproved hardens his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy.

⁵ Why should you be stricken any more? You will revolt more and more: The whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint.

³ O LORD, are not your eyes upon the truth? You have stricken them, but they have not grieved; You have consumed them, but they have refused to receive correction: They have made their faces harder than a rock; they have refused to return.

²⁴ Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man, who built his house upon a rock: ²⁵ And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it did not fall: For it was founded upon a rock. ²⁶ And everyone that hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, shall be likened to a foolish man, who built his house upon the sand: ²⁷ And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: And great was the fall of it."

¹⁵ Looking diligently lest any man be destitute of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and by this many are defiled;

²² But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

¹⁹ As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: Therefore be zealous, and repent.

¹¹ Come, you children, listen to me: I will teach you the fear of the LORD.

¹³ The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: Pride, and arrogance, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, I do hate.

¹² Before destruction the heart of man is haughty, and before honor is humility.

⁶ Do not put yourself forth in the presence of the king, and do not stand in the place of great men: ⁷ For it is better that it be said to you, "Come up here"; than that you should be put lower in the presence of the prince whom your eyes have seen.

²³ A man's pride shall bring him low: But honor shall uphold the humble in spirit.

¹¹ For whoever exalts himself shall be abased; and he that humbles himself shall be exalted."

⁵ Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: ⁶ Who, being in the form of God, did not count it robbery to be equal with God: ⁷ But made Himself of no reputation, and took upon Himself the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: ⁸ And being found in fashion as a man, He humbled Himself, and became obedient to death, even the death of the cross. ⁹ Therefore God has also highly exalted Him, and given Him a name which is above every name: ¹⁰ That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things on earth, and things under the earth; ¹¹ and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

¹⁰ Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He shall lift you up.
