¹ In the meantime, when there was an innumerable multitude of people gathered together, so that they trod upon one another, He began to say first of all to His disciples, "Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy. ² For there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; nor hid, that shall not be known. ³ Therefore whatever you have spoken in darkness shall be heard in the light; and that which you have spoken in the ear in closets shall be proclaimed upon the housetops. ⁴ And I say to you My friends, do not be afraid of those that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do. ⁵ But I will forewarn you whom you shall fear: Fear Him, which after He has killed has power to cast into hell; yes, I say to you, Fear Him. ⁶ Are not five sparrows sold for two bronze coins, and not one of them is forgotten before God?two bronze coins: In KJV, two farthings ⁷ But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows. ⁸ Also I say to you, Whoever shall confess Me before men, him the Son of Man shall also confess before the angels of God: ⁹ But he that denies Me before men shall be denied before the angels of God. ¹⁰ And whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man, it shall be forgiven him: But to him that blasphemes against the Holy Spirit it shall not be forgiven. ¹¹ And when they bring you to the synagogues, and to magistrates, and powers, take no thought how or what thing you shall answer, or what you shall say: ¹² For the Holy Spirit shall teach you in the same hour what you ought to say." ¹³ And one from the assembly said to Him, "Master, speak to my brother, that he divide the inheritance with me." ¹⁴ And He said to him, "Man, who made Me a judge or a divider over you?" ¹⁵ And He said to them, "Take heed, and beware of covetousness: For a man's life does not subsist in the abundance of the things which he possesses." ¹⁶ Moreover He spoke a parable to them, saying, "The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully: ¹⁷ And he thought within himself, saying, 'What shall I do, because I have no room where to stow my fruits?' ¹⁸ So he said, 'I will do this: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there I will stow all my fruits and my goods. ¹⁹ And I will say to my soul, "Soul, you have a great many goods laid up for many years; take your ease, eat, drink, and be merry." ' ²⁰ But God said to him, 'You fool, this night your soul shall be required of you: Then whose shall those things be, which you have provided?' ²¹ So is he that lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God." ²² And He said to His disciples, "Therefore I say to you, Take no thought for your life, what you shall eat; neither for the body, what you shall put on. ²³ The life is more than food, and the body is more than clothing. ²⁴ Consider the ravens: For they neither sow nor reap; which have neither storehouse nor barn; and God feeds them: How much more are you better than the birds? ²⁵ And which of you with taking thought can add one cubit to his stature?1 Roman cubit is approximately 17.4 inches, or 44.2 centimeters. ²⁶ If you then are not able to do that thing which is least, why do you take thought about the rest? ²⁷ Consider the lilies, how they grow: They neither toil nor spin; And yet I say to you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. ²⁸ If then God so clothes the grass, which today is in the field, and tomorrow is cast into the oven; how much more will He clothe you, O you of little faith? ²⁹ And seek not what you shall eat, or what you shall drink, neither be of a doubtful mind. ³⁰ For all these things the nations of the world seek after: And your Father knows that you have need of these things. ³¹ But rather seek the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added to you. ³² Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom. ³³ Sell what you have, and give alms; provide yourselves bags which do not wax old, a treasure in the heavens that does not fail, where no thief approaches, neither moth corrupts. ³⁴ For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. ³⁵ Let your loins be girded around, and your lights burning; ³⁶ and liken yourselves to men that wait for their lord, when he shall return from the wedding; that when he comes and knocks, they may open to him immediately. ³⁷ Blessed are those servants, whom when the lord comes shall find watching: Truly I say to you, That he shall gird himself, and make them sit down to eat, and will come forth and serve them. ³⁸ And if he should come in the second watch, or come in the third watch, and find them so, blessed are those servants. ³⁹ Moreover know this, that if the goodman of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched, and not have let his house be broken through. ⁴⁰ Therefore you also be ready: For the Son of Man comes at an hour you would not think." ⁴¹ Then Peter said to Him, "Lord, do You speak this parable to us, or to all even?" ⁴² And the Lord said, "Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his lord shall make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of food in due season? ⁴³ Blessed is that servant, whom his lord shall find so doing when he comes. ⁴⁴ Truly, I say to you, That he will make him ruler over all that he has. ⁴⁵ But then, if that servant says in his heart, 'My lord delays his coming'; and begins to beat the menservants and maidens, and to eat and drink, and be drunk; ⁴⁶ the lord of that servant shall come on a day when he is not looking for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in two, and will appoint him his portion with the unbelievers. ⁴⁷ And that servant, which knew his lord's will, and did not prepare himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes. ⁴⁸ But he that did not know, and committed things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with a few stripes. For to whomever much is given, from him much shall be required: And to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask all the more. ⁴⁹ I have come to send fire on the earth; and what will I do, if it is already kindled? ⁵⁰ But I have a baptism to be baptized with; and how pressed I am until it is accomplished! ⁵¹ Do you suppose that I have come to give peace on earth? I tell you, no; but rather division: ⁵² For from this time forward there shall be five in one house divided, three against two, and two against three. ⁵³ The father shall be divided against the son, and the son against the father; the mother against the daughter, and the daughter against the mother; the mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law, and the daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law." ⁵⁴ Moreover He also said to the people, "When you see a cloud rise out of the west, immediately you say, 'There comes a shower'; and so it is. ⁵⁵ And when you see the south wind blow, you say, 'There will be heat'; and it comes to pass. ⁵⁶ You hypocrites, you can discern the face of the sky and of the earth; but how is it that you do not discern this time? ⁵⁷ Yes, and why do you not judge what is right, even of yourselves? ⁵⁸ When you go with your adversary to the magistrate, as you are on the road, give diligence that you may be delivered from him; lest he haul you to the judge, and the judge deliver you to the officer, and the officer cast you into prison. ⁵⁹ I tell you, you shall not depart from that place, until you have paid the very last small bronze coin."small bronze coin: In KJV, mite; which was equivalent to 1/8'th of an assarius "as" coin during Roman times.

¹⁷ And the king appointed the lord on whose hand he leaned to have the charge of the gate: And the people stepped on him in the gate, and he died, as the man of God had said, "who spoke when the king came down to him.

⁵ that the triumphing of the wicked is short, and the joy of the hypocrite but for a moment?

⁸ For what is the hope of the hypocrite, though he has gained, when God takes away his soul?

¹³ But the hypocrites in heart heap up wrath: They cry not when he binds them.

¹⁴ The sinners in Zion are afraid; fearfulness has surprised the hypocrites. Who among us shall dwell with the devouring fire? Who among us shall dwell with everlasting burnings?

⁶ Then Jesus said to them, "Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees." ⁷ And they reasoned among themselves, saying, "It is because we have taken no bread." ⁸ Which when Jesus perceived, He said to them, "O you of little faith, why do you reason among yourselves, because you have brought no bread? ⁹ Do you not yet understand, nor remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets you took up? ¹⁰ Neither the seven loaves of the four thousand, and how many baskets you took up? ¹¹ How is it that you do not understand that I did not speak to you concerning bread, rather that you should beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees?" ¹² Then they understood that He did not tell them to beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.

¹⁵ And He charged them, saying, "Take heed, beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, and of the leaven of Herod." ¹⁶ And they reasoned among themselves, saying, "It is because we have no bread." ¹⁷ Then when Jesus knew it, He said to them, "Why do you reason, because you have no bread? Do you not yet perceive, neither understand? Do you still have your heart hardened? ¹⁸ Having eyes, do you not see? And having ears, do you not hear? And do you not remember? ¹⁹ When I broke the five loaves among five thousand, how many baskets full of fragments did you take up?" They said to Him, "Twelve." ²⁰ "Also, when the seven among four thousand, how many baskets full of fragments did you take up?" And they said, "Seven." ²¹ And He said to them, "How is it that you do not understand?"

¹ And it came to pass, that as the people pressed upon Him to hear the Word of God, He stood by the Lake of Gennesaret,

¹⁵ But more and more there went a fame of Him everywhere: And large multitudes came together to hear, and to be healed by Him of their infirmities.

¹⁷ And He came down with them, and stood in the plain, and the company of His disciples, and a large multitude of people out of all Judea and Jerusalem, and from the seacoast of Tyre and Sidon, who came to hear Him, and to be healed of their diseases;

⁴⁴ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are as graves which are not visible, and the men that walk over them are not aware of them."

⁵⁶ You hypocrites, you can discern the face of the sky and of the earth; but how is it that you do not discern this time?

²⁰ And when they heard it, they glorified the Lord, and said to him, "You see, brother, how many thousands of Jews there are who believe; and they are all zealous for the law:

⁷ Therefore purge out the old leaven, that you may be a new lump, as you are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us: ⁸ Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.

³ For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received, how Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;

¹⁷ But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be entreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.

¹ Therefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speaking,

¹⁴ For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.

²⁶ Therefore do not fear them: For there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known. ²⁷ What I tell you in darkness, that speak in light: And what you hear in the ear, that preach upon the housetops. ²⁸ And do not fear those which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: But rather fear Him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. ²⁹ Are not two sparrows sold for a copper coin? And one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father. ³⁰ But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. ³¹ Fear not therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows. ³² Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father which is in heaven. ³³ But whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father which is in heaven.

²² For there is nothing hid, which shall not be manifested; neither was anything kept secret, but that it should come abroad.

¹⁷ For nothing is secret, that shall not be made manifest; neither anything hid, that shall not be known and come abroad.

¹⁶ in the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel.

⁵ Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord comes, who will both bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: And then every man shall have praise from God.

¹⁰ For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to what he has done, whether it is good or bad.

¹¹ And I saw a great white throne, and Him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. ¹² And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life: And the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

¹⁴ The murderer rising with the light kills the poor and needy, and in the night is as a thief. ¹⁵ The eye also of the adulterer waits for the twilight, saying, "No eye shall see me: And disguises his face.

¹² The words of a wise man's mouth are gracious; but the lips of a fool will swallow himself up. ¹³ The words of his mouth begin with foolishness: And the end of his talk is mischievous madness.

²⁰ Do not curse the king, no, not in your thought; and do not curse the rich in your bedchamber: For a bird of the air shall carry the voice, and that which has wings shall tell the matter.

²⁷ What I tell you in darkness, that speak in light: And what you hear in the ear, that preach upon the housetops.

³⁶ But I say to you that every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account of it in the day of judgment.

¹⁴ And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied about these people, saying, "Behold, the Lord comes with ten thousands of His saints, ¹⁵ to execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have committed with ungodly living, and of all their fierce speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against Him."

¹ I have come into my garden, my sister, my spouse: I have gathered my myrrh with my spice; I have eaten my honeycomb with my honey; I have drunk my wine with my milk: Eat, O friends; drink, yes, drink abundantly, O beloved.

¹⁶ His mouth is most sweet: Yes, he is altogether lovely. This is my beloved, and this is my friend, O daughters of Jerusalem.

⁸ "But you, Israel, are My servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, the seed of Abraham My friend.

⁷ Listen to Me, you who know righteousness, the people in whose heart is My law; fear not the reproach of men, neither be afraid of their revilings. ⁸ For the moth shall eat them up like a garment, and the worm shall eat them like wool: But My righteousness shall be forever, and My salvation from generation to generation. ⁹ Awake, awake, put on strength, O arm of the LORD; awake, as in the ancient days, in the generations of old. Was it not You who cut Rahab, and wounded the dragon? ¹⁰ Are You not the One who has dried the sea, the waters of the great deep; who has made the depths of the sea a way for the ransomed to pass over? ¹¹ Therefore the redeemed of the LORD shall return, and come with singing to Zion; and everlasting joy shall be upon their head: They shall obtain gladness and joy; and sorrow and mourning shall flee away. ¹² I, even I, am He who comforts you: Who are you, that you should be afraid of a man who shall die, and of the son of man who shall be made like grass; ¹³ and forget the LORD your maker, who has stretched forth heaven, and laid the foundations of the earth; and have feared continually every day because of the fury of the oppressor, as if he were ready to destroy? And where is the fury of the oppressor?

⁸ Do not be afraid of their faces: For I am with you to deliver you", said the LORD.

¹⁷ You therefore gird up your loins, and arise, and speak to them all whom I command you: Be not dismayed at their faces, lest I confound you before them.

¹⁴ As for me, behold, I am in your hand: Do with me as seems good and proper to you. ¹⁵ But know for certain, that if you put me to death, you shall surely bring innocent blood on yourselves, and on this city, and on its inhabitants: For truly the LORD has sent me to you to speak all these words in your ears."

⁶ And you, son of man, do not be afraid of them, neither be afraid of their words, though briers and thorns are with you, and you dwell among scorpions: Do not be afraid of their words, nor be dismayed at their looks, though they are a rebellious house.

¹⁶ Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego answered and said to the king, "O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not anxious to answer you in this matter. ¹⁷ If that is the case, our God Whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us out of your hand, O king.

²⁸ And do not fear those which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: But rather fear Him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

¹⁴ You are My friends, if you do whatever I command you. ¹⁵ From this time forward I do not call you servants; for the servant does not know what his lord does: But I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard from My Father I have made known to you.

¹³ Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marveled; and they had knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.

²⁴ But none of these things move me, neither do I count my life dear to myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received from the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.

²⁸ and in nothing be terrified by your adversaries: Which is to them an evident token of perdition, but to you evidence of salvation, and that from God.

²³ And the scripture was fulfilled which says, "Abraham believed God, and it was imputed to him as righteousness": And he was called the Friend of God.

¹⁴ But even if you suffer for righteousness' sake, you are happier: "And do not be afraid of their terror, neither be troubled";

¹⁰ Fear none of those things which you shall suffer: Behold, the devil shall throw some of you into prison, that you may be proven; and you shall have tribulation ten days: Be faithful to death, and I will give you a crown of life.

¹⁷ The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.

²⁶ In the fear of the LORD is strong confidence: And his children shall have a place of refuge.

²² Do you not fear me?' said the LORD: 'will you not tremble at My presence, who has placed the sand as the bound of the sea by a perpetual decree, that it cannot pass it?: And though the waves of it toss themselves, yet they cannot prevail; though they roar, yet they cannot pass over it?

⁷ Who would not fear you, O King of nations? For to you it does appertain: For among all the wise men of the nations, and in all their kingdoms, there is none like to You.

²² But I say to you, That whoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: And whoever shall say to his brother, 'You vain fellow' shall be in danger of the council: But whoever says, 'You fool', shall be in danger of hell fire.

⁴¹ Then He shall say also to those on the left hand, 'Depart from Me, you cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

⁴⁶ And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: But the righteous into life eternal."

²³ But take heed: Behold, I have foretold you all things.

⁶ That no man go beyond and defraud his brother in any matter: Because the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we have also forewarned you and testified.

³¹ It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

⁴ For if God did not spare the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved for judgment;

⁷ saying with a loud voice, "Fear God, and give glory to Him; for the hour of His judgment has come: And worship Him that made heaven, and earth, the sea, and fountains of waters."

⁴ Who shall not fear You, O Lord, and glorify Your name? For only You are holy: For all nations shall come and worship before You; for Your judgments are made manifest."

¹⁴ Then death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

¹⁰ For every wild beast of the forest is mine, and the domestic beasts upon a thousand hills. ¹¹ I know all the fowls of the mountains: And the wild beasts of the field are mine.

⁵ Who is like the LORD our God, Who dwells on high, ⁶ who humbles himself to behold the things that are in heaven, and in the earth!

¹⁵ The eyes of all wait upon You; and You give them their food in due season. ¹⁶ You open Your hand, and satisfy the desire of every living thing.

⁹ He gives to the beast his food, and to the young ravens which cry.

²⁹ Are not two sparrows sold for a copper coin? And one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father.

⁴⁵ And the people said to Saul, "Shall Jonathan die, who has worked this great salvation in Israel? God forbid: As the LORD lives, not one hair of his head shall fall to the ground; for he has worked with God this day." Thus the people rescued Jonathan, so that he did not die.

¹¹ Then said she, I implore you, let the king remember the LORD your God, that you would not suffer the revengers of blood to destroy any more, lest they destroy my son. And he said, "As the LORD lives, there shall not one hair of your son fall to the earth.

¹¹ who teaches us more than the wild beasts of the earth, and makes us wiser than the fowls of heaven?

⁶ You made him to have dominion over the works of Your hands; You have put all things under his feet:

³ For I am the LORD your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior: I gave Egypt for your ransom, Ethiopia and Seba for you. ⁴ Since you were precious in My sight, you have been honorable, and I have loved you: Therefore I will give men for you, and people for your life.

²⁶ Behold the birds of the air: For they do not sow, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much better than they?

³⁰ But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. ³¹ Fear not therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.

¹² How much better then is a man than a sheep? Therefore it is lawful to do well on the Sabbath days."

¹⁸ But not a hair of your head shall perish.

³⁴ Therefore I urge you to take some food: Because this is for your health: For not a hair shall fall from the head of any of you."

³⁰ For which reason the LORD God of Israel says, 'I said indeed that your house, and the house of your father, should walk before Me forever': But now the LORD says, 'Far be it from Me; for those that honor Me I will honor, and those that despise Me shall be lightly esteemed.

⁴⁶ I will speak of Your testimonies also before kings, and will not be ashamed.

³¹ When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He shall sit upon the throne of His glory: ³² And all nations shall be gathered before Him: And He shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats: ³³ And He shall set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left. ³⁴ Then the King shall say to those on His right hand, 'Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

¹⁰ Likewise, I say to you, There is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents."

⁹ that if you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved. ¹⁰ For with the heart man believes to righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made to salvation.

¹² If we suffer, we shall also reign with Him: If we deny Him, He will also deny us:

²³ Whoever denies the Son, the same does not have the Father: But he that acknowledges the Son has the Father also.

²⁴ Now to Him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy, ²⁵ To the only wise God our Savior, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and forever. Amen.

¹³ "I know your works, and where you dwell, even where Satan's seat is: And you hold firmly My name, and have not denied My faith, even in those days in which Antipas was My faithful martyr, who was slain among you, where Satan dwells.

⁴ You have a few names even in Sardis which have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with Me in white: For they are worthy. ⁵ He that overcomes, the same shall be clothed in white garments; and I will not blot out his name from the Book of Life, but I will confess his name before My Father, and before His angels."

²³ And then I will profess to them, 'I never knew you: Depart from me, you that work iniquity.'

³³ But whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father which is in heaven.

¹² But he answered and said, 'Truly I say to you, I do not know you.'

³¹ When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He shall sit upon the throne of His glory:

³⁸ For whoever therefore shall be ashamed of Me and of My words in this adulterous and sinful generation; the Son of Man shall also be ashamed of him, when He comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels."

²⁶ For whoever is ashamed of Me and of My words, of him the Son of Man shall be ashamed, when He comes in His own glory, and in His Father's glory, and of the holy angels.

²⁶ Then you shall begin to say, 'We have eaten and drank in Your presence, and You have taught in our streets.' ²⁷ But He shall say, 'I tell you, I do not know you, nor what place you belong; depart from Me, all you workers of iniquity.'

¹³ The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified His Son Jesus; whom you delivered up, and denied Him in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let Him go. ¹⁴ But you denied the Holy One and the Just, and desired a murderer to be granted to you;

²⁸ And now, little children, abide in Him; that when He appears, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before Him at His coming.

⁸ "I know your works: Behold, I have set before you an open door, and no man can shut it: For you have a little strength, and have kept My word, and have not denied My name.

³¹ Therefore I say to you, All forms of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven men: But the blasphemy against the Holy Spirit shall not be forgiven men. ³² And whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man, it shall be forgiven him: But whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, nor in the world to come.

²⁸ Truly I say to you, All sins shall be forgiven the sons of men, and whichever blasphemies they shall blaspheme: ²⁹ But he that blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation": ³⁰ Because they said, "He has an unclean spirit."

³⁴ Then Jesus said, "Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do." And they divided His clothes, and cast lots.

¹³ who was formerly a blasphemer, a persecutor, and an injurious man: But I obtained mercy, because I did those things ignorantly in unbelief.

⁴ For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Spirit, ⁵ and have tasted the good Word of God, and the powers of the world to come, ⁶ if they shall fall away, to renew them again to repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put Him to an open shame. ⁷ For the earth which drinks in the rain that often comes upon it, and brings forth herbs fit for those by whom they are cultivated, receives blessing from God: ⁸ But that which bears thorns and briers is rejected, and is near to being cursed; whose end is to be burned.

²⁶ For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remains no more sacrifice for sins, ²⁷ but a certain fearful expectation of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. ²⁸ He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses: ²⁹ Of how much worse punishment, do you suppose, shall he be thought worthy, who has tread underfoot the Son of God, and has counted the blood of the covenant, with which he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and has extreme malice toward the Spirit of grace? ³⁰ For we know Him that has said, "Vengeance belongs to Me, I will recompense", says the Lord. And again, "The Lord shall judge His people." ³¹ It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

¹⁶ If any man sees his brother sin a sin which is not to death, he shall ask, and He shall give him life for those that sin not to death. There is a sin leading to death: I do not say that he should pray for it.

¹⁷ But beware of men: For they will deliver you up to the councils, and they will scourge you in their synagogues; ¹⁸ and you shall be brought before governors and kings for My sake, for a testimony against them and the Gentiles. ¹⁹ But when they deliver you up, take no thought on how or what you shall speak: For it shall be given to you in that same hour what you shall speak. ²⁰ For it is not you who speaks, but the Spirit of your Father which speaks in you.

³⁴ Therefore, behold, I send to you prophets, wise men, and scribes: And some of them you shall kill and crucify; and some of them you shall scourge in your synagogues, and persecute them from city to city:

⁹ But take heed to yourselves: For they shall deliver you up to councils; and you shall be beaten in the synagogues: And you shall be brought before rulers and kings for My sake, for a testimony against them. ¹⁰ And the gospel must first be published among all nations. ¹¹ But when they lead you, and deliver you up, take no thought beforehand what you shall speak, neither shall you premeditate: But whatever is given you in that hour, you speak that: For it is not you that speaks, but the Holy Spirit.

²² And He said to His disciples, "Therefore I say to you, Take no thought for your life, what you shall eat; neither for the body, what you shall put on.

¹² But before all these things, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons; being brought before kings and rulers for My name's sake. ¹³ And it shall turn out for you to be a testimony. ¹⁴ Therefore settle it in your hearts, not to meditate beforehand on what you shall answer:

⁵ And it came to pass on the next day that their rulers, elders, and scribes, ⁶ and Annas the high priest, Caiaphas, John, and Alexander, and as many as were of the kindred of the high priest, were gathered together at Jerusalem. ⁷ And when they had set them in the midst, they asked, "By what power, or by what name, have you done this?"

²⁷ And when they had brought them, they set them before the council: And the high priest asked them, ²⁸ saying, "Did we not strictly command you that you should not teach in this name? And behold, you have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this Man's blood upon us." ²⁹ But Peter and the other apostles answered and said, "We ought to obey God rather than men. ³⁰ The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom you slew and hung on a tree: ³¹ God has exalted Him with His right hand to be Prince and Savior, to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins. ³² And we are His witnesses of these things; and so also is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those that obey Him."

⁹ Then there arose certain ones from the synagogue, which is called the synagogue of the Libertines, and Cyrenians, and Alexandrians, and by those from Cilicia and from Asia, disputing with Stephen. ¹⁰ And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the Spirit by which he spoke. ¹¹ Then they suborned men, which said, "We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses, and against God." ¹² And they stirred up the people, the elders, and the scribes, and came upon him, and caught him, and brought him to the council, ¹³ and set up false witnesses, which said, "This man does not cease to speak blasphemous words against this holy place, and the law: ¹⁴ For we have heard him say, that this Jesus of Nazareth shall destroy this place, and shall change the customs which Moses delivered to us." ¹⁵ And all that sat in the council, looking steadfastly upon him, saw his face as if it had been the face of an angel.

¹¹ And the LORD said to him, "Who has made man's mouth? Or who makes the mute, or deaf, or the seeing, or the blind? Have not I the LORD?

²⁰ For it is not you who speaks, but the Spirit of your Father which speaks in you.

¹⁵ For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to speak against nor resist.

⁸ Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, "You rulers of the people, and elders of Israel,

¹⁰ And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the Spirit by which he spoke.

² And he said, "Men, brethren, and fathers, hearken; the God of glory appeared to our father Abraham when he was in Mesopotamia, before he dwelt in Charran, ³ and said to him, 'Get out of your country, and from your kindred, and come into the land which I shall show you.' ⁴ Then he came out of the land of the Chaldeans, and dwelt in Charran: And from there, when his father was dead, He moved him into this land, in which you now dwell. ⁵ And He gave him no inheritance in it, no, not so much as to even set his foot upon: Yet He promised that He would give it to him for a possession, and to his seed after him, when as yet he had no child. ⁶ And God spoke in this manner, that his seed should sojourn in a strange land; and that they should bring them into bondage, and treat them evilly four hundred years. ⁷ 'And the nation to whom they shall be in bondage I will judge', said God, 'and after that they shall come out, and serve Me in this place.' ⁸ Then He gave him the covenant of circumcision: And so Abraham begot Isaac, and circumcised him on the eighth day; and Isaac begot Jacob; and Jacob begot the twelve patriarchs. ⁹ "And the patriarchs, moved with envy, sold Joseph into Egypt: But God was with him, ¹⁰ and delivered him out of all his afflictions, and gave him favor and wisdom in the sight of Pharaoh king of Egypt; and he made him governor over Egypt and all his house. ¹¹ Now there came a famine over all the land of Egypt and Canaan, and great affliction: And our fathers found no sustenance. ¹² But when Jacob heard that there was grain in Egypt, he sent out our fathers first. ¹³ And at the second visit Joseph was made known to his brothers; and Joseph's kindred were made known to Pharaoh. ¹⁴ Then Joseph sent for, and called his father Jacob to him, and all his kindred, seventy five souls. ¹⁵ So Jacob went down into Egypt, and died, he, and our fathers, ¹⁶ and they were carried over into Shechem, and laid in the sepulchre that Abraham bought for a sum of money from the sons of Emmor, the father of Shechem. ¹⁷ "But when the time of the promise drew near, which God had sworn to Abraham, the people grew and multiplied in Egypt, ¹⁸ until another king arose, who did not know Joseph. ¹⁹ This one dealt cunningly with our kindred, and evilly treated our fathers, so that they threw out their young children, with the intent they might not live. ²⁰ About which time Moses was born, and was exceedingly fair, and nourished in his father's house three months: ²¹ And when he was cast out, Pharaoh's daughter took him up, and nourished him as her own son. ²² And Moses was instructed in all the wisdom of the Egyptians, and was mighty in words and in deeds. ²³ "And when he was a full forty years old, it came into his heart to visit his brethren, the children of Israel. ²⁴ And seeing one of them suffer wrongfully, he defended him, and avenged him who was oppressed, and smote the Egyptian: ²⁵ For he supposed that his brethren would have understood that by his hand God would deliver them: But they did not understand. ²⁶ And the next day he showed himself to them as they fought, and would have reconciled them as one again, saying, 'Sirs, you are brethren; why do you wrong one another?' ²⁷ But he who did his neighbor wrong thust him away, saying, 'Who made you a ruler and a judge over us? ²⁸ Will you kill me as you did the Egyptian yesterday?' ²⁹ Then Moses fled at this saying, and was a stranger in the land of Midian, where he begot two sons. ³⁰ "And when forty years were expired, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in the wilderness of Mount Sinai, in a flame of fire in a bush. ³¹ When Moses saw it, he wondered at the sight: And as he drew near to observe it, the voice of the Lord came to him, ³² saying, 'I am the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.' Then Moses trembled, and dared not behold. ³³ 'Then the LORD said to him, "Take off your shoes from your feet: For the place where you stand is holy ground. ³⁴ I have seen, I have seen the affliction of My people which are in Egypt, I have heard their groaning, and have come down to deliver them. And now come, I will send you into Egypt." ' ³⁵ "This Moses whom they refused, saying, 'Who made you a ruler and a judge?' is the same that God sent to be a ruler and a deliverer by the hand of the angel which appeared to him in the bush. ³⁶ He brought them out, after he had shown wonders and signs in the land of Egypt, and in the Red Sea, and in the wilderness forty years. ³⁷ "This is that Moses who said to the children of Israel, 'The LORD your God shall raise up to you a Prophet from your brethren, similar to me: Him you shall hear.' ³⁸ "This is he, that was in the church in the wilderness with the angel which spoke to him in Mount Sinai, and with our fathers: Who received the lively oracles to give to us: ³⁹ Whom our fathers would not obey, but thrust Him from them, and in their hearts turned back again into Egypt, ⁴⁰ saying to Aaron, 'Make us gods to go before us: Because, as for this Moses who brought us out of the land of Egypt, we do not know what has become of him.' ⁴¹ And they made a calf in those days, offered sacrifices to the idol, and rejoiced in the works of their own hands. ⁴² Then God turned, and gave them up to worship the host of heaven; as it is written in the book of the prophets, 'O house of Israel, have you offered to Me slain beasts and sacrifices for a period of forty years in the wilderness? ⁴³ Yes, you took up the tabernacle of Moloch, and the star of your god Remphan, figures which you made to worship them: And I will carry you away beyond Babylon.' ⁴⁴ "Our fathers had the tabernacle of witness in the wilderness, as He had appointed, speaking to Moses, that he should make it according to the fashion that he had seen. ⁴⁵ Which also our fathers that came afterwards, brought in with Jesus into the possession of the Gentiles, whom God drove out before the face of our fathers, even until the days of David; ⁴⁶ who found favor before God, and desired to find a tabernacle for the God of Jacob. ⁴⁷ But Solomon built Him a house. ⁴⁸ "Nevertheless, the Most High does not dwell in temples made with hands; as the prophet says, ⁴⁹ 'Heaven is My throne, and earth is My footstool: What house will you build Me? says the LORD: Or what is the place of My rest? ⁵⁰ Has My hand not made all these things?' ⁵¹ "You stiff necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, you always resist the Holy Spirit: As your fathers did, so you do. ⁵² Which of the prophets have not your fathers persecuted? And they have slain those which foretold of the coming of the Just One; of whom you now have been the betrayers and murderers: ⁵³ Who have received the law by the disposition of angels, and have not kept it."

⁵⁵ But he, being full of the Holy Spirit, looked up steadfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God,

¹ Then Agrippa said to Paul, "You are permitted to speak for yourself." Then Paul stretched forth his hand, and answered for himself: ² "I think myself happy, King Agrippa, because I shall answer for myself before you this day concerning all the things of which I am accused by the Jews: ³ Especially because I know you are an expert in all customs and questions which are in particular among the Jews: Therefore I beseech you to hear me patiently. ⁴ "My manner of life from my youth, which was at first among my own nation in Jerusalem, all the Jews know; ⁵ they knew me from the beginning, if they were willing to testify, that following after the most strict sect of our religion I lived a Pharisee. ⁶ And now I stand and am judged for the hope of the promise made by God to our fathers: ⁷ To which promise our twelve tribes, urgently serving God day and night, hope to attain. For this hope's sake, King Agrippa, I am accused by the Jews. ⁸ Why should it be thought an incredible thing by you that God should raise the dead? ⁹ "I truly thought within myself, that I ought to do many things contrary to the name of Jesus of Nazareth. ¹⁰ Which things I also did in Jerusalem: And many of the saints I shut up in prison, having received authority from the chief priests; and when they were put to death, I gave my voice against them. ¹¹ And I punished them often in every synagogue, and compelled them to blaspheme; and being exceedingly furious against them, I persecuted them even to foreign cities. ¹² "Given wholly to this, as I went to Damascus with authority and commission from the chief priests, ¹³ at midday, O king, on the highway I saw a light from heaven, exceeding the brightness of the sun, shining all around me and those who journeyed with me. ¹⁴ And when we had all fallen to the earth, I heard a voice speaking to me, and saying in the Hebrew tongue, 'Saul, Saul, why do you persecute Me? It is hard for you to kick against the prods.' ¹⁵ And I said, 'Who are You, Lord?' And He said, 'I am Jesus whom you persecute. ¹⁶ But rise, and stand upon your feet: For I have appeared to you for this purpose, to make you a minister and a witness both of the things which you have seen, and of those things which I will show to you; ¹⁷ delivering you from the people, and from the Gentiles, to whom I now send you, ¹⁸ to open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith that is in Me.' ¹⁹ "Given wholly to this, King Agrippa, I was not disobedient to the heavenly vision: ²⁰ But brought word first to those of Damascus, and in Jerusalem, and throughout all the coasts of Judea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, and do works worthy for repentance. ²¹ For these reasons the Jews caught me in the temple, and went about to kill me. ²² Having therefore obtained help from God, I continue to this day, witnessing both to small and great, saying no other things than those which the prophets and Moses said would come: ²³ That Christ would suffer, and that He should be the first that would rise from the dead, and would show light to the people, and to the Gentiles." ²⁴ Now as he spoke for himself like this, Festus said with a loud voice, "Paul, you are beside yourself; much learning makes you mad." ²⁵ But he said, "I am not mad, most noble Festus; but speak the words of truth and soberness. ²⁶ For the king knows of these things, before whom I also speak freely: For I am persuaded that none of these things are hidden from him; seeing this thing was not done in a corner. ²⁷ King Agrippa, do you believe the prophets? I know that you believe." ²⁸ Then Agrippa said to Paul, "You almost persuade me to be a Christian." ²⁹ And Paul said, "I pray to God, that not only you, but also all that hear me this day, were both almost, and altogether as I am, except for these chains." ³⁰ And when he had spoken these things, the king rose up, and the governor, and Bernice, and those who sat with them: ³¹ And when they had gone aside, they talked between themselves, saying, "This man does nothing worthy of death or of chains." ³² Then Agrippa said to Festus, "This man might have been set at liberty, if he had not appealed to Caesar."

¹⁴ From men which are Your hand, O LORD, from men of the world, which have their portion in this life, and whose belly You fill with Your hidden treasure: They are full of children, and leave the rest of their substance to their babes.

³¹ And they come to you according to the coming of the people, and they sit before you as My people, and they hear your words, but they will not do them: For with their mouth they show much love, but their heart goes after their covetousness.

⁴⁵ A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth that which is evil: Because out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.

¹⁸ And when Simon saw that through the laying on of the apostles' hands the Holy Spirit was given, he offered them money, ¹⁹ saying, "Give me this power also, that whoever I lay hands on, he may receive the Holy Spirit."

⁵ perverse disputing by men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: From such withdraw yourself.

¹⁴ And he said, "Who made you a prince and a judge over us? Do you intend to kill me, as you killed the Egyptian?" And Moses feared, and said, "Surely this thing is known."

⁸ He has shown you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?

²⁰ And when He saw their faith, He said to him, "Man, your sins are forgiven you."

⁵⁸ And after a little while another saw him, and said, "You are also of them." But Peter said, "Man, I am not."

¹⁵ When Jesus therefore perceived that they would come and take Him by force, to make Him a king, He departed again into a mountain by Himself alone.

¹¹ She said, "No one, Lord." And Jesus said to her, "Neither do I condemn you: Go, and sin no more."

³⁵ Pilate answered, "Am I a Jew? Your own nation and the chief priests have delivered You to me: What have You done?" ³⁶ Jesus answered, "My kingdom is not of this world: If My kingdom were of this world, then My servants would fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: But now My kingdom is not from here."

¹ Therefore you are inexcusable, O man, whoever you are that judges: For in what you judge another, you condemn yourself; for you that judge do the same things.

³ And do you think this, O man, that judge those who do such things, and do the same, that you shall escape the judgment of God?

²⁰ No rather, O man, who are you that replies against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, "Why have you made me like this?"

²¹ When I saw among the spoils a goodly Babylonish garment, and two hundred shekels of silver, and a wedge of gold of fifty shekels weight, then I coveted them, and took them; and behold, they are hid in the earth in the middle of my tent, and the silver under it.

⁴ And Satan answered the LORD, and said, "Skin for skin, yes, all that a man has will he give for his life.

²⁴ If I have made gold my hope, or have said to the fine gold, You are my confidence; ²⁵ if I rejoice because my wealth was great, and because my hand had gotten much;

³ For the wicked boasts of his heart's desire, and blesses the covetous, whom the LORD abhors.

¹⁶ A little that a righteous man has is better than the riches of many wicked.

¹⁰ Do not trust in oppression, and do not become ostentatious in robbery: If riches increase, do not set your heart upon them.

³⁶ Incline my heart to Your testimonies, and not to covetousness. ³⁷ Turn away my eyes from beholding vanity; and You vivify me in Your way.

¹⁶ Better is little with the fear of the LORD than great treasure and trouble with it.

¹⁶ How much better it is to get wisdom than gold! And choosing to get understanding rather than silver!

⁴ Do not labor to be rich: Cease out of your own wisdom. ⁵ Will you set your eyes upon that which is not? For riches certainly make themselves wings; they fly away as an eagle toward heaven.

¹⁶ The prince that wants understanding is also a great oppressor: But he that hates covetousness shall prolong his days.

⁶ Better is a handful with quietness, than both hands full with travail and vexation of spirit. ⁷ Then I returned, and I saw vanity under the sun. ⁸ There is one alone, and there is not a second; yes, he has neither child nor brother: Yet there is no end of all his labor; neither is his eye satisfied with riches; neither has he said, "For whom do I labor, and bereave my soul of good?" This also is vanity, yes, it is a sore travail.

¹⁰ He that loves silver shall not be satisfied with silver; nor he that loves abundance with increase: This also is vanity. ¹¹ When goods increase, those that eat them are increased: And what good is there to the owners of them, except the beholding of them with their eyes? ¹² The sleep of a laboring man is sweet, whether he eat little or much: But the abundance of the rich will not allow him to sleep. ¹³ There is a sore evil which I have seen under the sun, namely, riches kept for the owners of them to their hurt. ¹⁴ But those riches perish by evil travail: And he begets a son, and there is nothing in his hand. ¹⁵ As he came forth from his mother's womb, naked shall he return, to go as he came, and shall take nothing from his labor, which he may carry away in his hand. ¹⁶ And this also is a sore evil, that in all points as he came, so shall he go: And what profit does he have who has labored for the wind?

¹³ "For from the least of them even to the greatest of them everyone is given to covetousness; and from the prophet even to the priest everyone deals falsely.

¹⁷ But your eyes and your heart are not but for your covetousness, and to shed innocent blood, and for oppression, and for violence, to do it. ¹⁸ Therefore thus says the LORD concerning Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah; "They shall not lament for him, saying, 'Ah my brother! Or, Ah sister!' They shall not lament for him, saying, 'Ah lord! Or, Ah his glory!'

² And they covet fields, and take them by violence; and houses, and take them away: So they oppress a man and his house, even a man and his heritage.oppress; or, defraud

⁹ Woe to him that covets an evil covetousness to establish his house, that he may set his nest on high, that he may be delivered from the power of evil!

²⁵ Therefore I say to you, Take no thought for your life, what you shall eat, or what you shall drink; nor even for your body, what you shall put on. Is not the life more than food, and the body more than clothing? ²⁶ Behold the birds of the air: For they do not sow, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much better than they?

²² thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness:

¹⁴ And that which fell among thorns are they which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection.

¹⁴ Moreover the Pharisees, who were covetous, also heard all these things: And they derided Him.

³⁴ Also take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with gluttony, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you when unaware.

¹⁰ Yet not completely with the fornicators of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or with idolaters; for then you would need to go out of the world. ¹¹ But now I have written to you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother is a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; not to eat with such an one.

¹⁰ nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

³ But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not once be named among you, as befits saints; ⁴ neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: But rather giving of thanks. ⁵ For this you know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.

⁵ Therefore mortify your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:

⁶ But godliness with contentment is great gain. ⁷ For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. ⁸ And having food and clothing, let us be content with these. ⁹ But those that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. ¹⁰ For the love of money is the root of all evil: Which while coveting after, some have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

² For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,

⁵ Let your behavior be without covetousness; and be content with such things as you have: For He has said, "I will never leave you, nor forsake you."

³ And through covetousness they shall make merchandise of you with feigned words: Whose judgment will now not linger for a long time, and their damnation does not slumber.

¹⁴ having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: They have a heart exercised with covetous practices; cursed children:

¹² Then Isaac sowed in that land, and received in the same year a hundredfold: And the LORD blessed him. ¹³ And the man waxed great, and went forward, and grew until he became very great: ¹⁴ For he had possession of flocks, and possession of herds, and great store of servants: And the Philistines envied him.

⁴⁷ And in the seven plenteous years the earth brought forth by handfuls. ⁴⁸ And he gathered up all the food of the seven years, which were in the land of Egypt, and laid up the food in the cities: The food of the field, which was all around every city, he laid up in the same city. ⁴⁹ And Joseph gathered grain as the sand of the sea, very much, until he left off numbering; for it was without number.

⁶ The tabernacles of robbers prosper, and those that provoke God are secure; into whose hand God brings abundantly.

³ For I was envious at the foolish, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.

¹² Behold, these are the ungodly, who prosper in the world; they increase in riches.

⁸ For she did not know that I gave her grain, and wine, and oil, and multiplied her silver and gold, which they prepared for Baal.

⁴⁵ that you may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: For He makes His sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.

¹⁷ Nevertheless He did not leave Himself without witness, in that He did good, gave us rain from heaven, and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness."

² Give a portion to seven, and also to eight; for you do not know what evil shall be on the earth.

⁷ Is it not to deal your bread to the hungry, and that you bring the poor that are cast out to your house? When you see the naked, that you cover him; and that you do not hide yourself from your own flesh?

⁴² Give to him that asks you, and from him that would desire to borrow from you do not turn away.

¹¹ He answered and said to them, "He who has two coats, let him give to him who has none; and he who has food, let him do likewise."

²⁵ And behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted Him, saying, "Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?"

⁴¹ But rather give alms of such things as you have; and behold, all things are clean to you.

²⁹ And seek not what you shall eat, or what you shall drink, neither be of a doubtful mind.

³³ Sell what you have, and give alms; provide yourselves bags which do not wax old, a treasure in the heavens that does not fail, where no thief approaches, neither moth corrupts.

¹³ But when you make a feast, call the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind: ¹⁴ And you shall be blessed; for they cannot recompense you: For you shall be recompensed at the resurrection of the just."

³ Then the steward said within himself, 'What shall I do? For my lord is taking away from me the stewardship: I cannot dig; I am ashamed to beg.

⁹ And I say to you, Make for yourselves friends of the mammon of unrighteousness; that when you fail, they may receive you into everlasting habitations.

²² Now when Jesus heard these things, He said to him, "You still lack one thing: Sell all that you have, and distribute to the poor, and you shall have treasure in heaven: And come, follow Me."

¹⁷ And he said to him, 'Well done, good servant: Because you have been faithful in a very little, you have authority over ten cities.'

³⁷ Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said to Peter and to the rest of the apostles, "Men and brethren, what shall we do?"

³⁰ And brought them out, and said, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?"

¹³ distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality.

⁶ But this I say, he which sows sparingly shall also reap sparingly; and he which sows bountifully shall also reap bountifully. ⁷ Let every man give according to as he purposes in his heart; not grudgingly, nor of necessity: For God loves a cheerful giver. ⁸ And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work: ⁹ (As it is written, "He has dispersed abroad; he has given to the poor: His righteousness remains forever." ¹⁰ Now He that ministers seed to the sower also ministers bread for your food, and multiplies your seed sown, and increases the fruits of your righteousness); ¹¹ being enriched in everything to all bountifulness, which causes thanksgiving to God through us. ¹² For the administration of this service not only supplies the lack of the saints, but also is abundant through many thanksgivings to God; ¹³ While through the proof of this ministration they glorify God for your professed subjection to the gospel of Christ, and for your liberal distribution to them, and to all men; ¹⁴ and by their prayer for you, who long after you for the exceeding grace of God in you. ¹⁵ Thanks be to God for His unspeakable gift.

¹⁷ Charge those that are rich in this world, that they are not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy;

¹⁶ By this we perceive the love of God, because He laid down His life for us: And we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.

²¹ So is he that lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God."

⁴ And he would not for a while: But afterward he said within himself, 'Though I do not fear God, nor regard man;

⁶ And the Lord said, "Hear what the unjust judge said.

¹⁵ This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish.

¹⁵ Given that you ought to say, "If the Lord wills, we shall live, and do this, or that."

¹¹ and houses full of all good things, which you filled not, and wells dig, which you digged not, vineyards and olive trees, which you planted not; when you shall have eaten and be full; ¹² then beware lest you forget the LORD, which brought you forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.

¹² Lest when you have eaten and are full, and have built goodly houses, and dwelled in it; ¹³ and when your herds and your flocks multiply, and your silver and your gold is multiplied, and all that you have is multiplied; ¹⁴ then your heart be lifted up, and you forget the LORD your God, which brought you forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage;

¹ Man that is born of a woman is of few days and full of trouble.

¹¹ They send forth their little ones like a flock, and their children dance. ¹² They take the tambourine and harp, and rejoice at the sound of the organ. ¹³ They spend their days in wealth, and in a moment go down to the grave.

⁵ Why should I fear in the days of evil, when the iniquity of my heels shall compass around me? ⁶ Those that trust in their wealth, and boast themselves in the multitude of their riches; ⁷ none of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him: ⁸ (For the redemption of their soul is precious, and it ceases forever): ⁹ That he should still live forever, and not see corruption. ¹⁰ For he sees that wise men die, likewise the fool and the brutish person perish, and leave their wealth to others. ¹¹ Their inward thought is, that their houses shall continue forever, and their dwelling places to all generations; they call their lands after their own names. ¹² Nevertheless, man being in honor does not remain: He is like the beasts that perish. ¹³ Their way is their folly: Yet their posterity approve their sayings. Selah.

¹⁸ Though while he lived he blessed his soul: And men will praise you when you do well to yourself.

⁵ God shall likewise destroy you forever, he shall take you away, and pluck you out of your dwelling place, and root you out of the land of the living. Selah. ⁶ The righteous also shall see, and fear, and shall laugh at him: ⁷ Lo, this is the man that did not make God his strength; but trusted in the abundance of his riches, and strengthened himself in his wickedness.

¹¹ The rich man's wealth is his strong city, and as a high wall in his own conceit.

⁵ Will you set your eyes upon that which is not? For riches certainly make themselves wings; they fly away as an eagle toward heaven.

¹ Do not boast yourself of tomorrow; for you do not know what a day may bring forth.

⁹ Rejoice, O young man, in your youth; and let your heart cheer you in the days of your youth, and walk in the ways of your heart, and in the sight of your eyes: But know that for all these things God will bring you into judgment.

⁸ Woe to those that join house to house, that lay field to field, till there be no place, that they may be placed alone in the midst of the land!

¹¹ Woe to those that rise up early in the morning, that they may follow strong drink; who continue until night, till wine inflames them!

¹³ And behold joy and gladness, slaying oxen, and killing sheep, eating flesh, and drinking wine: Let us eat and drink; for tomorrow we shall die.

⁸ And Ephraim said, 'Yet I have become rich, I have found my substance: In all my labors they shall find no iniquity in me that was sin.'

³ You that assume the evil day is far away, and cause the seat of violence to come near;seat; or, habitation ⁴ that lie on beds of ivory, and stretch themselves upon their couches, and eat the lambs out of the flock, and the calves out of the midst of the stall; ⁵ that chant to the sound of the viol, and invent instruments of music for themselves, like David; ⁶ that drink wine in bowls, and anoint themselves with the chief ointments: But they are not grieved for the affliction of Joseph.

¹⁶ Therefore they sacrifice to their net, and burn incense to their dragnet; because by them their portion is fat, and their meat plenteous.

¹⁹ Do not store up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust corrupts, and where thieves break in and steal: ²⁰ But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust corrupts, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: ²¹ For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

¹⁹ There was a certain rich man who was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day:

³² If, in the manner of men, I have fought with beasts at Ephesus, what advantage is it to me, if the dead do not rise? "Let us eat and drink; for tomorrow we die."

¹⁹ Whose end is destruction, whose god is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.)

⁶ But she that lives in pleasure is dead while she lives.

⁴ traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;

¹³ Go now, you that say, "Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a city, continue there for a year, buy and sell, and win gain": ¹⁴ When in fact you all do not know what shall happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is indeed a vapor, that appears for a little while, and then vanishes away. ¹⁵ Given that you ought to say, "If the Lord wills, we shall live, and do this, or that."

¹ Go now, you rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you. ² Your riches are corrupted, and your clothes are moth-eaten. ³ Your gold and silver are cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as if it were fire. You have heaped treasure together for the last days.

⁵ You have lived in pleasure on the earth, and been wanton; you have nourished your hearts, as in a day of slaughter.

³ For the years past of our life may suffice for us to have worked the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revelries, banquetings, and abominable idolatries:

⁷ To the degree she has glorified herself, and lived deliciously, give her that much torment and sorrow: For she says in her heart, 'I sit a queen, and am no widow, and shall see no sorrow.'

⁹ And Moses spoke to Aaron, "Say to all the congregation of the children of Israel, 'Come near before the LORD: For He has heard your murmurings.' " ¹⁰ And it came to pass, as Aaron spoke to the whole congregation of the children of Israel, that they looked toward the wilderness, and behold, the glory of the LORD appeared in the cloud.

³⁶ And Abigail came to Nabal; and behold, he held a feast in his house, like the feast of a king; and Nabal's heart was merry within him, for he was very drunk: Therefore she told him nothing, less or more, until the morning light. ³⁷ But it came to pass in the morning, when the wine was gone out of Nabal, and his wife had told him these things, that his heart died within him, and he became as a stone. ³⁸ And it came to pass about ten days after, that the LORD smote Nabal, that he died.

²⁸ Now Absalom had commanded his servants, saying, "Mark you now when Amnon's heart is merry with wine, and when I say to you, Smite Amnon; then kill him, fear not: Have I not commanded you? Be courageous, and be valiant. ²⁹ And the servants of Absalom did to Amnon as Absalom had commanded. Then all the king's sons arose, and every man got him up on his mule, and fled.

⁹ And his servant Zimri, captain of half his chariots, conspired against him, as he was in Tirzah, drinking himself drunk in the house of Arza steward of his house in Tirzah. ¹⁰ And Zimri went in and smote him, and killed him, in the twenty and seventh year of Asa king of Judah, and reigned in his stead.

¹¹ And Haman told them of the glory of his riches, and the multitude of his children, and all the things in which the king had promoted him, and how he had advanced him above the princes and servants of the king.

¹ On that day king Ahasuerus gave the house of Haman the Jews' enemy to Esther the queen. And Mordecai came before the king; for Esther had told what he was to her. ² And the king took off his ring, which he had taken from Haman, and gave it to Mordecai. And Esther set Mordecai over the house of Haman.

²⁰ surely he shall not feel quietness in his belly, he shall not save of that which he desired. ²¹ There shall none of his meat be left; therefore shall no man look for his goods. ²² In the fullness of his sufficiency he shall be in straits: Every hand of the wicked shall come on him. ²³ When he is about to fill his belly, God shall cast the fury of his wrath on him, and shall rain it on him while he is eating.

¹⁶ Though he heap up silver as the dust, and prepare clothing as the clay; ¹⁷ he may prepare it, but the just shall put it on, and the innocent shall divide the silver.

⁶ Surely every man walks in a vain show: Surely they are disquieted in vain: He heaps up riches, and does not know who shall gather them.

¹⁷ for when he dies he shall carry nothing away: His glory shall not descend after him. ¹⁸ Though while he lived he blessed his soul: And men will praise you when you do well to yourself. ¹⁹ He shall go to the generation of his fathers; they shall never see light.

¹⁹ How are they brought into desolation, as in a moment! They are utterly consumed with terrors.

³⁰ they were not estranged from their lust. But while their food was yet in their mouths,

⁴ Riches do not profit in the day of wrath: But righteousness delivers from death.

⁸ He that by usury and unjust gain increases his substance, he shall gather it for him that will pity the poor.

¹⁸ Yes, I hated all my labor in which I toiled under the sun: Because I should leave it to the man that shall be after me. ¹⁹ And who knows whether he shall be a wise man or a fool? Yet he shall have rule over all my labor in which I have labored, and in which I have showed myself wise under the sun. This also is vanity. ²⁰ Therefore I went about to cause my heart to despair of all the labor which I took under the sun. ²¹ For there is a man whose labor is in wisdom, and in knowledge, and in equity; yet to a man who has not labored in it, he shall leave it for his portion. This also is vanity and a great evil. ²² For what has man from all his labor, and from the vexation of his heart, in which he has labored under the sun?

¹¹ As the partridge sits on eggs, and does not hatch them; so he who gets riches not rightly, shall leave them in the midst of his days, and at his end shall be a fool."

¹ Belshazzar the king made a great feast to a thousand of his lords, and drank wine before the thousand. ² Belshazzar, while he tasted the wine, commanded to bring the golden and silver vessels which his father Nebuchadnezzar had taken out of the temple which was in Jerusalem; that the king, and his princes, his wives, and his concubines, might drink from them. ³ Then they brought the golden vessels that were taken out of the temple of the house of God which was at Jerusalem; and the king, and his princes, his wives and his concubines, drank from them. ⁴ They drank wine, and praised the gods of gold, and of silver, of brass, of iron, of wood, and of stone. ⁵ In the same hour came forth fingers of a man's hand, and wrote in front of the candlestick upon the plaster of the wall of the king's palace: And the king saw the part of the hand that wrote. ⁶ Then the king's countenance was changed, and his thoughts troubled him, so that the joints of his loins were loosened, and his knees knocked against one another.

²⁵ And this is the writing that was written: MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN. ²⁶ This is the interpretation of the thing: MENE; God has numbered your kingdom, and finished it. ²⁷ TEKEL; you are weighed in the balances, and are found wanting. ²⁸ PERES; your kingdom is divided, and given to the Medes and Persians." ²⁹ Then Belshazzar commanded, and they clothed Daniel with scarlet, and put a chain of gold around his neck, and made a proclamation concerning him, that he should be the third ruler in the kingdom. ³⁰ During that night Belshazzar the king of the Chaldeans was slain.

¹⁰ For while they are entwined together as thorns, and while they are drunken as drunkards, they shall be devoured as fully dried stubble.

⁴⁸ But if that evil servant says in his heart, 'My lord delays his coming'; ⁴⁹ and begins to smite his fellow-servants, and to eat and drink with the drunken; ⁵⁰ the lord of that servant shall come on a day when he is not looking for him, and at an hour that he is not aware of, ⁵¹ and shall cut him apart, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

⁴⁰ You fools, did not He that made that which is outside make that which is inside also?

²² And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: The rich man also died, and was buried; ²³ And in hell he lifted up his eyes, being in torments, and saw Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.

³ For when they shall say, "Peace and safety"; then sudden destruction comes upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.

⁷ For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.

¹⁴ When in fact you all do not know what shall happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is indeed a vapor, that appears for a little while, and then vanishes away.

¹ Israel is an empty vine, he brings forth fruit to himself: According to the multitude of his fruit he has increased the altars; according to the goodness of his land they have made goodly images.

¹⁹ Do not store up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust corrupts, and where thieves break in and steal: ²⁰ But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust corrupts, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:

²⁴ But woe to you that are rich! For you have received your consolation.

¹¹ Therefore, if you have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches?

⁵ But according to your hardness and impenitent heart you treasure up for yourself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God;

¹⁰ as sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all things.

¹⁸ that they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate; ¹⁹ laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.

⁵ Hearken, my beloved brethren, has not God chosen the poor of this world to be rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which He has promised to those that love Him?

⁹ "I know your works, tribulation, and poverty (but you are rich), and I know the blasphemy of those which say they are Jews, and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan.

²⁵ Therefore I say to you, Take no thought for your life, what you shall eat, or what you shall drink; nor even for your body, what you shall put on. Is not the life more than food, and the body more than clothing? ²⁶ Behold the birds of the air: For they do not sow, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much better than they? ²⁷ Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit to his stature?1 Roman cubit is approximately 17.4 inches, or 44.2 centimeters. ²⁸ Then why do you have cares pertaining to clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they do not toil, neither do they spin: ²⁹ And yet I say to you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. ³⁰ Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is cast into the oven, shall He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? ³¹ Therefore take no thought, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or, 'What shall we drink?' or, 'With what shall we be clothed?' ³² (For the Gentiles seek after all these things:) For your heavenly Father knows that you have need of all these things. ³³ But you, seek first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added to you. ³⁴ Therefore take no thought concerning tomorrow: For tomorrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient for the day is the evil of it.

³² But I would have you without concerns. He who is unmarried cares for the things that belong to the Lord, how he may please the Lord:

⁶ Do not be full of care for anything; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.

¹⁷ And it came to pass, when they had brought them forth abroad, that he said, "Escape for your life; do not look behind you, neither stay anywhere in all the plain; escape to the mountain, lest you be consumed."

¹² And the LORD said to Satan, "Behold, all that he has is in your power; only on himself put not forth your hand. So Satan went forth from the presence of the LORD.

⁶ And the LORD said to Satan, "Behold, he is in your hand; but save his life.

⁸ The ransom of a man's life are his riches: But the poor does not hear rebuke.

¹⁸ And since we were exceedingly tossed with a tempest, the next day they lightened the ship; ¹⁹ And on the third day we threw the ship's tackle overboard with our own hands.

³⁸ Moreover, when they had eaten enough, they lightened the ship, and cast out the wheat into the sea.

¹ And Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the inhabitants of Gilead, said to Ahab, "As the LORD God of Israel lives, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word. ² And the word of the LORD came to him, saying, ³ get away from here, and turn eastward, and hide yourself by the brook Cherith, that is before the Jordan. ⁴ And it shall be, that you shall drink of the brook; and I have commanded the ravens to feed you there. ⁵ So he went and did according to the word of the LORD: For he went and dwelled by the brook Cherith, that is before the Jordan. ⁶ And the ravens brought him bread and flesh in the morning, and bread and flesh in the evening; and he drank of the brook.

⁴¹ Who provides for the raven his food? When his young ones cry to God, they wander for lack of meat.

³¹ Fear not therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.

²⁶ And the king was exceedingly sorry; yet for his oath's sake, and for the sakes of those who sat with him, he would not reject her request.

⁷ But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.

³⁰ For all these things the nations of the world seek after: And your Father knows that you have need of these things. ³¹ But rather seek the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added to you. ³² Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.

³⁶ Neither shall you swear by your head, because you cannot make one hair white or black.

²⁷ Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit to his stature?1 Roman cubit is approximately 17.4 inches, or 44.2 centimeters.

³ And he sought to see Jesus, who He was, but could not because of the pressing multitude, for he was little in stature.

¹³ Consider the work of God: For who can make that straight, which He has made crooked?

⁷ Casting all your care upon Him; for He cares for you.

¹ And when the queen of Sheba heard of the fame of Solomon concerning the name of the LORD, she came to prove him with hard questions. ² And she came to Jerusalem with a very great train, with camels that bore spices, and very much gold, and precious stones: And when she had come to Solomon, she communed with him of all that was in her heart. ³ And Solomon told her all her questions: There was not anything hid from the king, which he told her not. ⁴ And when the queen of Sheba had seen all Solomon's wisdom, and the house that he had built, ⁵ and the meat of his table, and the sitting of his servants, and the attendance of his ministers, and their apparel, and his cupbearers, and his ascent by which he went up to the house of the LORD; there was no more spirit in her. ⁶ And she said to the king, It was a true report that I heard in my own land of your acts and of your wisdom. ⁷ However, I believed not the words, until I came, and my eyes had seen it: And behold, the half was not told me: Your wisdom and prosperity exceeds the fame which I heard. ⁸ Happy are your men, happy are these your servants, which stand continually before you, and that hear your wisdom. ⁹ Blessed be the LORD your God, which delighted in you, to set you on the throne of Israel: Because the LORD loved Israel forever, therefore made he you king, to do judgment and justice. ¹⁰ And she gave the king a hundred and twenty talents of gold, and of spices very great store, and precious stones: There came no more such abundance of spices as these which the queen of Sheba gave to king Solomon. ¹¹ And the navy also of Hiram, that brought gold from Ophir, brought in from Ophir great plenty of almug trees, and precious stones. ¹² And the king made of the almug trees pillars for the house of the LORD, and for the king's house, harps also and psalteries for singers: There came no such almug trees, nor were seen to this day. ¹³ And king Solomon gave to the queen of Sheba all her desire, whatever she asked, beside that which Solomon gave her of his royal bounty. So she turned and went to her own country, she and her servants.

¹ And when the queen of Sheba heard of the fame of Solomon, she came to prove Solomon with hard questions at Jerusalem, with a very great company, and camels that bore spices, and gold in abundance, and precious stones: And when she had come to Solomon, she communed with him of all that was in her heart. ² And Solomon told her all her questions: And there was nothing hid from Solomon which he told her not. ³ And when the queen of Sheba had seen the wisdom of Solomon, and the house that he had built, ⁴ and the meat of his table, and the sitting of his servants, and the attendance of his ministers, and their apparel; his cupbearers also, and their apparel; and his ascent by which he went up into the house of the LORD; there was no more spirit in her. ⁵ And she said to the king, It was a true report which I heard in my own land of your acts, and of your wisdom: ⁶ However, I believed not their words, until I came, and my eyes had seen it: And behold, the one half of the greatness of your wisdom was not told me: For you exceed the fame that I heard. ⁷ Happy are your men, and happy are these your servants, which stand continually before you, and hear your wisdom. ⁸ Blessed be the LORD your God, which delighted in you to set you on his throne, to be king for the LORD your God: Because your God loved Israel, to establish them forever, therefore made he you king over them, to do judgment and justice. ⁹ And she gave the king a hundred and twenty talents of gold, and of spices great abundance, and precious stones: Neither was there any such spice as the queen of Sheba gave king Solomon. ¹⁰ And the servants also of Huram, and the servants of Solomon, which brought gold from Ophir, brought algum trees and precious stones. ¹¹ And the king made of the algum trees terraces to the house of the LORD, and to the king's palace, and harps and psalteries for singers: And there were none such seen before in the land of Judah. ¹² And king Solomon gave to the queen of Sheba all her desire, whatever she asked, beside that which she had brought to the king. So she turned, and went away to her own land, she and her servants.

¹⁰ But the rich, in that he is made low: Because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away. ¹¹ For the sun is no sooner risen with a burning heat, then it withers the grass, and the flower thereof falls, and the grace of its fashion perishes: So also shall the rich man fade away in his ways.

⁶ The voice said, "Cry." And he said, "What shall I cry? All flesh is grass, and all its goodliness is as the flower of the field:

³⁰ Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is cast into the oven, shall He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?

²⁶ But He said to them, "Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?" Then He arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.

³¹ And immediately Jesus stretched forth His hand, and caught him, and said to him, "O you of little faith, why did you doubt?"

⁸ Which when Jesus perceived, He said to them, "O you of little faith, why do you reason among yourselves, because you have brought no bread?

¹⁷ Then Jesus answered and said, "O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I endure you? Bring him here to Me."

²⁰ And Jesus said to them, "Because of your unbelief: For truly I say to you, If you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you shall say to this mountain, 'Remove from here to yonder place'; and it shall move; and nothing shall be impossible to you.

²⁵ And He said to them, "Where is your faith?" And they being afraid wondered, saying to one another, "What kind of man is this? For He commands even the winds and water, and they obey Him."

²⁴ For "All flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withers, and its flower falls away:

³¹ Therefore take no thought, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or, 'What shall we drink?' or, 'With what shall we be clothed?'

⁷ And remain in the same house, eating and drinking such things as they give: For the laborer is worthy of his wages. Do not go from house to house. ⁸ And whatever city you enter into, and they receive you, eat such things as are set before you:

³⁵ And He said to them, "When I sent you without money bag, satchel, and shoes, did you lack anything?" And they said, "Nothing."

⁴⁷ And if you salute your brethren only, what do you do more than others? Do not even publicans do so?

¹ "Take heed that you do not do your charitable deeds in front of men, to be seen by them: Otherwise you have no reward from your Father which is in heaven.

⁸ Therefore, do not be like them: For your Father knows what things you have need of, before you ask Him.

³² (For the Gentiles seek after all these things:) For your heavenly Father knows that you have need of all these things.

¹⁴ Likewise, it is not the will of your Father which is in heaven that one of these little ones should perish.

³² Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.

¹⁷ Jesus said to her, "Do not touch Me; for I am not yet ascended to My Father: But go to My brethren, and say to them, 'I ascend to My Father, and your Father; and to My God, and your God.' "

¹⁷ This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you no longer walk as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind,

⁵ not in the lust of concupiscence, even as the Gentiles who do not know God:

² that he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God. ³ For the years past of our life may suffice for us to have worked the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revelries, banquetings, and abominable idolatries: ⁴ In which they think it is strange that you do not run with them to the same riotous excesses, speaking evil of you:

¹¹ And God said to him, "Because you have asked this thing, and have not asked for yourself long life; neither have asked riches for yourself, nor have asked the life of your enemies; but have asked for yourself understanding to discern judgment; ¹² behold, I have done according to your words: Lo, I have given you a wise and an understanding heart; so that there was none like you before you, neither after you shall any arise like to you. ¹³ And I have also given you that which you have not asked, both riches, and honor: So that there shall not be any among the kings like to you all your days.

⁹ O fear the LORD, you His saints: For there is no want to those that fear Him.

³ Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shall you dwell in the land, and truly you shall be fed.

¹⁹ They shall not be ashamed in the evil time: And in the days of famine they shall be satisfied.

²⁵ I have been young, and now am old; yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.

¹¹ For the LORD God is a sun and shield: The LORD will give grace and glory: He will not withhold any good thing from those that walk uprightly.

¹⁶ he shall dwell on high: His place of defense shall be the fortress of rocks: Bread shall be given him; his waters shall be sure.

³³ But you, seek first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added to you.

⁴² But one thing is necessary: And Mary has chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her."

²⁷ Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to everlasting life, which the Son of Man shall give to you: For God the Father has sealed Him."

³¹ What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?

⁸ For bodily exercise profits little: But godliness is profitable to all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.

⁷ Tell me, O you whom my soul loves, where do you feed, where do you make your flock to rest at noon: For why should I be as one that turns aside by the flocks of your companions? ⁸ If you do not know, O you fairest among women, go forth your way by the footsteps of the flock, and feed your kids beside the shepherds' tents.

¹¹ He shall feed His flock like a shepherd: He shall gather the lambs with His arm, and carry them in His bosom, and shall gently lead those that are with young.

¹⁴ Fear not, you worm Jacob, and you men of Israel; I will help you' ", said the LORD, and your redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.

⁶ All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned, every one, to his own way; and the LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.

¹⁹ But I said, "How shall I put you among the children, and give you a pleasant land, a goodly heritage of the hosts of nations?" and I said, "You shall call Me, my Father; and shall not turn away from Me."

¹⁵ Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves.

²⁵ At that time Jesus answered and said, "I thank you, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because You have hidden these things from the wise and prudent, and have revealed them to babes. ²⁶ Even so, Father: For so it seemed good in Your sight. ²⁷ All things are delivered to Me from My Father: And no man knows the Son, except the Father; neither does any man know the Father, except the Son, and he to whom the Son will reveal Him.

²⁷ But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, "Be of good cheer; it is I; do not be afraid."

¹² What do you think? If a man has a hundred sheep, and one of them has gone astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine, and go into the mountains, and seek that which has gone astray? ¹³ And if it so happens that he finds it, truly I say to you, He rejoices more over that sheep, than over the ninety-nine which did not go astray. ¹⁴ Likewise, it is not the will of your Father which is in heaven that one of these little ones should perish.

¹⁶ So the last shall be first, and the first last: For many are called, but few chosen.

³⁴ Then the King shall say to those on His right hand, 'Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

²¹ In that hour Jesus rejoiced in spirit, and said, "I thank You, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hid these things from the wise and prudent, and have revealed them to babes: Even so, Father; for so it seemed good in Your sight."

²⁶ But you do not believe, because you are not of My sheep, as I said to you. ²⁷ My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me: ²⁸ And I give them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of My hand. ²⁹ My Father, which gave them to Me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of My Father's hand. ³⁰ I and My Father are one."

³⁶ Jesus answered, "My kingdom is not of this world: If My kingdom were of this world, then My servants would fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: But now My kingdom is not from here."

¹⁵ So when they had dined, Jesus said to Simon Peter, "Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me more than these?" He said to Him, "Yes, Lord; You know that I love You." He said to him, "Feed My lambs." ¹⁶ He said to him again a second time, "Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?" He said to Him, "Yes, Lord; You know that I love You." He said to him, "Feed My sheep." ¹⁷ He said to him the third time, "Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?" Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, "Do you love Me?" And he said to Him, "Lord, You know all things; You know that I love You." Jesus said to him, "Feed My sheep.

²³ For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

²⁸ And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. ²⁹ For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. ³⁰ Moreover, whom He predestined, these He also called: Whom He called, these He also justified: And whom He justified, these He also glorified. ³¹ What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? ³² He that did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not together with Him also freely give us all things?

⁵ Having predestined us to the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, ⁶ to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He has made us accepted in the Beloved. ⁷ In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace; ⁸ in which He has abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence; ⁹ having made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure which He has purposed in Himself:

¹³ For it is God which works in you both to will and to do His good pleasure.

⁵ Which are a clearly apparent token of the righteous judgment of God, that you may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you also suffer:

¹¹ Therefore we also pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfill all the good pleasure of His goodness, and the work of faith with power:

²⁸ Therefore, we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear:

³ Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, ⁴ to an inheritance incorruptible, undefiled, and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, ⁵ who are kept by the power of God through faith to salvation, ready to be revealed in the last time.

¹¹ For after that an entrance shall abundantly be ministered to you into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

⁶ and has made us kings and priests to God and His Father; to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.

⁵ And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God gives them light: And they shall reign forever and ever.

⁶ You all have sown much, and bring in little; all you eat, but you all do not have enough; all you drink, but you all are not filled with drink; all you clothe yourselves, but there are none warm; and he that earns wages earns wages to put it into a bag with holes."

²¹ Jesus said to Him, "If you desire to be perfect, go and sell what you have, and give to the poor, and you shall have treasure in heaven: And come and follow Me."

⁶ This he said, not that he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and had the money bag, and carried what was put in it.

⁴⁵ and sold their possessions and goods, and divided them to all men, as every man had need.

³⁴ Neither was there any among them who lacked: For as many as were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the proceeds of the things that were sold, ³⁵ and laid them down at the apostles' feet: And distribution was made to every man accordingly as he had need.

² how that in a great trial of affliction the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty abounded to the riches of their liberality.

¹⁷ Charge those that are rich in this world, that they are not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy;

²¹ For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

²⁰ For our intimate fellowship is in heaven; from which we also look for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ:

¹ If then you are risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sits at the right hand of God. ² Set your affections on things above, not on things on the earth. ³ For you are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.

⁴⁶ And the hand of the LORD was on Elijah; and he girded up his loins, and ran before Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel.

¹⁷ She girds her loins with strength, and strengthens her arms.

²⁷ None shall be weary nor stumble among them; none shall slumber nor sleep; neither shall the girdle of their loins be loosed, nor the lace of their shoes be broken:

⁵ And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, and faithfulness the girdle of his reins.

¹⁶ Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

¹ "Then the kingdom of heaven shall be likened to ten virgins, who took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.

⁴ But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. ⁵ While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept. ⁶ And at midnight a cry was made, 'Behold, the bridegroom comes; go out to meet him.' ⁷ Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps. ⁸ And the foolish said to the wise, 'Give us some of your oil; for our lamps have gone out.' ⁹ But the wise answered, saying, 'Not so, lest there not be enough for us and you: But rather go to those that sell, and buy for yourselves.' ¹⁰ And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and those who were ready went in with him to the marriage: And the door was shut.

¹⁴ Stand therefore, having your loins girded around with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

¹⁵ That you may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom you shine as lights in the world;

¹³ Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;

¹⁸ I have waited for Your salvation, O LORD.

⁵ I rose up to open to my beloved; and my hands dropped with myrrh, and my fingers with sweet smelling myrrh, on the handles of the lock. ⁶ I opened to my beloved; but my beloved had withdrawn himself, and was gone: My soul failed when he spoke: I sought him, but I could not find him; I called him, but he gave me no answer.

⁴ For since the beginning of the world men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither has the eye seen, O God, beside You, what He has prepared for Him who waits for Him.

²⁵ The LORD is good to those who wait for Him, to the soul who seeks Him. ²⁶ It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the LORD.

¹ And Jesus answered and spoke to them again by parables, and said, ² "The kingdom of heaven is likened to a certain king who made a marriage for his son, ³ and sent forth his servants to call those who were invited to the wedding: And they would not come. ⁴ Again, he sent forth other servants, saying, 'Tell those who are invited, "Behold, I have prepared my dinner; my oxen and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready: Come to the marriage." ' ⁵ But they made light of it, and went their ways, one to his farm, another to his merchandise: ⁶ And the rest took his servants, treated them spitefully, and slew them. ⁷ But when the king heard about it, he was wroth: And he sent forth his armies, destroyed those murderers, and burned up their city. ⁸ Then he said to his servants, 'The wedding is ready, but those who were invited were not worthy. ⁹ Therefore go into the highways, and as many as you shall find, invite to the marriage.' ¹⁰ So those servants went out into the highways, and gathered together as many as they all found, both bad and good: And the wedding was furnished with guests. ¹¹ But when the king came in to see the guests, he saw a man there who did not have on a wedding garment: ¹² And he said to him, 'Friend, how did you come in here not having a wedding garment?' And he was speechless. ¹³ Then the king said to the servants, 'Bind him hand and foot, take him away, and cast him into outer darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.' ¹⁴ For many are called, but few are chosen."

⁴² Watch therefore: For you do not know what hour your Lord comes. ⁴³ Moreover know this, that if the goodman of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched, and not have let his house be broken through. ⁴⁴ Therefore you also be ready: For the Son of Man comes at such an hour that you do not think.

³⁴ For the Son of Man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work, and commanded the porter to watch. ³⁵ Watch therefore: For you do not know when the master of the house comes, in the evening, at midnight, at the crowing of the rooster, or in the morning: ³⁶ Lest coming suddenly, he find you sleeping. ³⁷ And what I say to you I say to all, Watch."

²⁵ And behold, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon; and this same man was just and devout, waiting for the Consolation of Israel: And the Holy Spirit was upon him. ²⁶ And it was revealed to him by the Holy Spirit, that he should not see death, before he had seen the Lord's Christ. ²⁷ And he came by the Spirit into the temple: And when the parents brought in the Child Jesus, to do for Him after the custom of the law, ²⁸ then he took Him up in his arms, and blessed God, and said, ²⁹ "Lord, now let Your servant depart in peace, according to Your word: ³⁰ For my eyes have seen Your salvation,

⁷ Therefore be patient, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. Behold, the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, and has long patience for it, until he receives the early and latter rain. ⁸ You also be patient; establish your hearts: For the coming of the Lord draws near.

¹³ Yes, I think it is right, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting you in remembrance; ¹⁴ knowing that shortly I must put off my tabernacle, even as our Lord Jesus Christ has shown me. ¹⁵ Moreover, I will endeavor that after my decease you may be able to have these things always in remembrance.

²⁰ But you, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, ²¹ keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to eternal life.

²⁰ Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: If any man hears My voice, and opens the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with Me.

⁵ For as a young man marries a virgin, so shall your sons marry you: And as the bridegroom rejoices over the bride, so shall your God rejoice over you.

⁴¹ Yes, I will rejoice over them to do them good, and I will plant them in this land assuredly with My whole heart and with My whole soul.'

¹⁷ The LORD your God is mighty in the midst of you; He will save, He will rejoice over you with joy; He will rest in His love, He will joy over you with singing."

⁴² Watch therefore: For you do not know what hour your Lord comes.

⁴⁵ Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord has made ruler over his household, to give them food in due season? ⁴⁶ Blessed is that servant, whom his lord shall find so doing when he comes. ⁴⁷ Truly I say to you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods.

²⁰ And so he who had received five talents came and brought another five talents, saying, 'Lord, you delivered to me five talents: Behold, I have gained five more talents besides them. ²¹ His lord said to him, 'Well done, you good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things: Enter into the joy of your lord.' ²² He also who had received two talents came and said, 'Lord, you delivered to me two talents: Behold, I have gained two other talents besides them.' ²³ His lord said to him, 'Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things: Enter into the joy of your lord.'

⁴³ Blessed is that servant, whom his lord shall find so doing when he comes.

⁸ Rather, will he not say to him, 'Make ready a supper which I may eat, and gird yourself, and serve me, until I have eaten and drunk; and afterward you shall eat and drink'?

³⁶ Watch therefore, and pray always, that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man."

²⁶ If anyone serves Me, let him follow Me; and where I am, there My servant shall also be: If anyone serves Me, My Father will honor him.

⁴ He rose from supper, and laid aside His clothes; and took a towel, and girded Himself. ⁵ After that He poured water into a basin, and began to wash the disciples' feet, and to wipe them with the towel with which He was girded.

⁹ But as it is written, "Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, neither has entered into the heart of man, the things which God has prepared for those that love Him."

²¹ For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.

²³ For I am in a difficult strait between two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better:

⁷ I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: ⁸ Furthermore, there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, shall give me in that day: And not to me only, but also to all those that love His appearing.

¹ I exhort the elders which are among you; I am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed: ² Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking on the oversight of it, not by compulsion, but willingly; not for filthy profit, but from a ready mind; ³ neither as being lords over God's heritage, but being examples to the flock. ⁴ And when the Chief Shepherd shall appear, you shall receive a crown of glory that does not fade away.

¹⁴ Therefore, beloved, seeing that you look for such things, be diligent that you may be found by Him in peace, without spot, and blameless.

²¹ To him that overcomes I will grant to sit with Me in My throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with My Father in His throne."

¹⁷ For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them to living fountains of waters: And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes."

³ And they sang as it were a new song before the throne, before the four beasts, and the elders: And no man could learn that song except the one hundred and forty-four thousand, which were redeemed from the earth. ⁴ These are they which were not defiled with women; for they are virgins. These are they who follow the Lamb wherever He goes. These were redeemed from among men, being the firstfruits to God and to the Lamb.

¹³ Then I heard a voice from heaven saying to me, "Write, 'Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from this time forward' ": "Yes", says the Spirit, "that they may rest from their labors; and their works do follow them."

⁶ And at midnight a cry was made, 'Behold, the bridegroom comes; go out to meet him.'

⁴ But you, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. ⁵ You are all the children of light, and the children of the day: We are not of the night, nor of darkness.

¹⁹ Do not store up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust corrupts, and where thieves break in and steal:

² For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord comes as a thief in the night. ³ For when they shall say, "Peace and safety"; then sudden destruction comes upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.

¹⁰ But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also, and the works that are in it shall be burned up.

³ Remember therefore how you have received and heard, and hold firmly fixed, and repent. If therefore you shall not watch, I will come upon you as a thief, and you shall not know what hour I will come upon you.

¹⁵ "Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watches, and keeps his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame."

⁴⁴ Therefore you also be ready: For the Son of Man comes at such an hour that you do not think.

¹³ Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man comes.

³³ Take heed, watch and pray: For you do not know when the time is. ³⁴ For the Son of Man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work, and commanded the porter to watch. ³⁵ Watch therefore: For you do not know when the master of the house comes, in the evening, at midnight, at the crowing of the rooster, or in the morning: ³⁶ Lest coming suddenly, he find you sleeping.

³⁴ Also take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with gluttony, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you when unaware. ³⁵ For it shall come as a snare on all those who dwell on the face of the whole earth. ³⁶ Watch therefore, and pray always, that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man."

¹¹ Also this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: For now our salvation is nearer than when we believed.

¹⁴ But you, put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts.

⁶ Therefore let us not sleep, as others do; but let us watch and be sober.

¹² looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, in which the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? ¹³ Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness dwells. ¹⁴ Therefore, beloved, seeing that you look for such things, be diligent that you may be found by Him in peace, without spot, and blameless.

⁷ Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honor to Him: For the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready."

³⁷ And what I say to you I say to all, Watch."

³⁷ Then He came, and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, "Simon, do you sleep? Could you not watch one hour?

⁷ But the end of all things is at hand: Therefore be sober, and watchful with prayer.

⁸ Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about as a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour:

²³ A man has joy by the answer of his mouth: And a word spoken in due season, how good it is!

⁴ The Lord GOD has given Me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him who is weary: He wakens morning by morning, He wakens my ear to hear as the learned.

⁴ And I will set up shepherds over them who shall feed them: And they shall fear no more, nor be dismayed, neither shall they be lacking", said the LORD.

³ You eat the fat, and you clothe yourselves with the wool, you kill those who are fed: But you do not feed the flock.

⁵² Then He said to them, "Therefore every scribe which is instructed concerning the kingdom of heaven is like a man who is a householder, who brings forth out of his treasure things new and old."

⁸ So when evening had come, the lord of the vineyard said to his steward, 'Call the laborers, and give them their wages, beginning from the last to the first.'

⁴⁵ Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord has made ruler over his household, to give them food in due season? ⁴⁶ Blessed is that servant, whom his lord shall find so doing when he comes.

¹³ And when the Lord saw her, He had compassion on her, and said to her, "Do not weep."

¹ Moreover He also said to His disciples, "There was a certain rich man which had a steward; and the same stewart was accused to him that he had wasted his goods. ² Therefore he called him, and said to him, 'What is this that I hear about you? Give an account of your stewardship; for you may no longer be steward.' ³ Then the steward said within himself, 'What shall I do? For my lord is taking away from me the stewardship: I cannot dig; I am ashamed to beg. ⁴ I have resolved what to do, that when I am put out of the stewardship, they may receive me into their houses.' ⁵ Then he called every one of his lord's debtors to himself, and said to the first, 'How much do you owe to my lord?' ⁶ And he said, 'A hundred measures of oil.' And he said to him, 'Take your bill, and sit down quickly, and write fifty.'measures: The word Batus in the original Greek, contains 9 gallons, 3 quarts ⁷ Then he said to another, 'And how much do you owe?' So he said, 'A hundred measures of wheat.' And he said to him, 'Take your bill, and write eighty.' ⁸ Yet the lord commended the unjust steward, because he had done wisely: For the children of this world in their generation are wiser than the children of light. ⁹ And I say to you, Make for yourselves friends of the mammon of unrighteousness; that when you fail, they may receive you into everlasting habitations. ¹⁰ He who is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: And he who is unjust in the least is also unjust in much. ¹¹ Therefore, if you have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches? ¹² And if you have not been faithful in what is another man's, who shall give you that which is your own? ¹³ No servant can serve two masters: For either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon." ¹⁴ Moreover the Pharisees, who were covetous, also heard all these things: And they derided Him. ¹⁵ And He said to them, "You are those who justify yourselves before men; but God knows your hearts: For that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God. ¹⁶ The Law and the prophets were until John: Since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presses into it. ¹⁷ And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass, than one tittle of the law to fail. ¹⁸ Whoever puts away his wife, and marries another, commits adultery: And whoever marries her that is put away from her husband commits adultery. ¹⁹ There was a certain rich man who was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day: ²⁰ Also there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, who was laid at his gate, full of sores, ²¹ and desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: Moreover, the dogs came and licked his sores. ²² And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: The rich man also died, and was buried; ²³ And in hell he lifted up his eyes, being in torments, and saw Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. ²⁴ Then he cried and said, 'Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.' ²⁵ But Abraham said, 'Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things; but now he is comforted, and you are tormented. ²⁶ And besides all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: So that those which would pass from this place to you cannot; neither can those which would come from that place pass to us.' ²⁷ Then he said, 'I beseech you therefore, father, that you would send him to my father's house: ²⁸ For I have five brothers; that he may testify to them, lest they also come into this place of torment.' ²⁹ Abraham said to him, 'They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.' ³⁰ And he said, 'No, father Abraham: But if one went to them from the dead, they will repent.' ³¹ But he said to him, 'If they do not hear Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rise from the dead.' "

¹⁵ And it came to pass, that when he returned, having received the kingdom, he then commanded these servants to be called to him, to whom he had given the money, that he might know how much every man had gained by trading. ¹⁶ Then came the first, saying, 'Lord, your pound has gained ten pounds.' ¹⁷ And he said to him, 'Well done, good servant: Because you have been faithful in a very little, you have authority over ten cities.' ¹⁸ And the second came, saying, 'Lord, your pound has gained five pounds.' ¹⁹ And He said likewise to him, 'You also be over five cities.'

²⁸ Therefore take heed to yourselves, and to all the flock, among whom the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which He has purchased with His own blood.

¹ Let a man so account for us, as ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God. ² Moreover, it is required in stewards that a man be found faithful.

¹⁵ But if I tarry long, I write that you may know how you yourselves ought to behave in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.

¹⁷ Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in the word and doctrine.

² Preach the word; be at hand in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.

⁷ For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not self-willed, not soon angry, not given to wine, doesn't strike others, not given to filthy profit;

⁵ And Moses truly was faithful in all His house, as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken afterwards;

⁷ Remember those which have rule over you, who have spoken the Word of God to you: Whose faith follow, considering the end of their conversation.

¹⁷ Obey those that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: For they watch for your souls, as those that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: For that is unprofitable for you.

¹⁰ As every man has received the gift, even so minister the same to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.

² And many of those that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. ³ And those who are wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and those who turn many to righteousness as the stars forever and ever.

⁴⁷ Truly I say to you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods.

²⁹ And I appoint to you a kingdom, as My Father has appointed to Me; ³⁰ that all of you may eat and drink at My table in My kingdom, and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel."all of you: In KJV, ye; hence "all of you" signifies a plural "you"

¹⁸ I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, so that the shame of your nakedness does not appear; and anoint your eyes with eye-salve, that you may see.

¹⁰ His watchmen are blind: They are all ignorant, they are all dumb dogs, they cannot bark; sleeping, lying down, loving to slumber. ¹¹ Yes, they are greedy dogs who can never have enough, and they are shepherds who cannot understand: They all look to their own way, every one for his gain, from his quarter. ¹² "Come all of you", they say, "I will fetch wine, and we will fill ourselves with strong drink; and tomorrow shall be like today, and much more abundant."

⁶ Behold, it is written before Me: I will not keep silence, but will recompense, even recompense into their bosom,

² Then Pashur smote Jeremiah the prophet, and put him in the stocks that were in the high gate of Benjamin, which was by the house of the LORD.

²² "Son of man, what is that proverb that you have in the land of Israel, saying, 'The days are prolonged, and every vision fails?'

²⁷ "Son of man, behold, those of the house of Israel say, 'The vision that he sees is for many days to come, and he prophesies of the times that are far off.' ²⁸ Therefore say to them, "Thus says the Lord GOD; 'My words shall not be prolonged any longer, but the word which I have spoken shall be done", said the Lord GOD.' "

³ You eat the fat, and you clothe yourselves with the wool, you kill those who are fed: But you do not feed the flock. ⁴ You have not strengthened the diseased, neither have you healed those who were sick, neither have you bound up those who were broken, neither have you brought back those who were driven away, neither have you sought those who were lost; but with force and with cruelty you have ruled them.

⁸ "As I live", said the Lord GOD, "surely because My flock became a prey, and My flock became meat to every wild beast of the field, because there was no shepherd, neither did My shepherds search for My flock, but the shepherds fed themselves, and did not feed My flock;"

⁶ And the rest took his servants, treated them spitefully, and slew them.

⁴⁸ But if that evil servant says in his heart, 'My lord delays his coming'; ⁴⁹ and begins to smite his fellow-servants, and to eat and drink with the drunken; ⁵⁰ the lord of that servant shall come on a day when he is not looking for him, and at an hour that he is not aware of,

¹⁸ For those that are such do not serve our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.

²⁰ For you bear it, if a man brings you into bondage, if a man devours you, if a man takes from you, if a man exalts himself, if a man strikes you on the face.

¹⁸ (For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: ¹⁹ Whose end is destruction, whose god is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.)

⁷ For those who sleep, sleep in the night; and those who are drunk, are drunk in the night.

³ And through covetousness they shall make merchandise of you with feigned words: Whose judgment will now not linger for a long time, and their damnation does not slumber. ⁴ For if God did not spare the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved for judgment;

¹³ and shall receive the reward of unrighteousness, as those who count it pleasure to riot in the daytime. They are spots and blemishes, sporting themselves with their own deceivings while they feast with you;

¹⁹ While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: For by whom a man is overcome, by the same he is brought into bondage.

⁹ I wrote to the church: But Diotrephes, who loves to have the preeminence among them, does not receive us. ¹⁰ Therefore, if I come, I will remember his deeds which he does, prating against us with malicious words: And not content with that, neither does he himself receive the brethren, and forbids those that would receive them, and drives them out of the church.

¹² These are spots in your feasts of love, when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear: They are clouds without water, carried about by winds; trees whose fruit withers, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots; ¹³ raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, for whom is reserved the blackness of darkness forever.

⁷ And it was given to him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: And power was given to him over all tribes, and tongues, and nations. ⁸ And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the Book of Life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. ⁹ If any man has an ear, let him hear. ¹⁰ He that leads into captivity shall go into captivity: He that kills with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints.

¹⁵ And he had power to give life to the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause as many as would not worship the image of the beast to be killed. ¹⁶ And he causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond-servants, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: ¹⁷ And that no man might buy or sell, except he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

⁶ For they have shed the blood of saints and prophets, and You have given them blood to drink; for they are worthy of such."

⁵ And upon her forehead a name was written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH. ⁶ And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus: And when I saw her, I wondered with great admiration.

⁷ To the degree she has glorified herself, and lived deliciously, give her that much torment and sorrow: For she says in her heart, 'I sit a queen, and am no widow, and shall see no sorrow.' ⁸ Therefore her plagues shall come in one day, death, and mourning, and famine; and she shall be utterly burned with fire: For strong is the Lord God Who judges her.

²⁴ And in her was found the blood of prophets, and of saints, and of all that were slain upon the earth."

²⁹ This is the portion of a wicked man from God, and the heritage appointed to him by God.

⁵ The LORD proves the righteous through testing: But His soul hates the wicked and him that loves violence.

⁹ For evildoers shall be cut off: But those that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth.

¹⁴ For the LORD will not cast off His people, nor will He forsake His inheritance.

²² Many will say to Me in that day, 'Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name? And in Your name have cast out devils? And in Your name done many wonderful works?' ²³ And then I will profess to them, 'I never knew you: Depart from me, you that work iniquity.'

⁴¹ The Son of Man shall send forth His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all things that offend, and those which do iniquity; ⁴² and shall cast them into a furnace of fire: There shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.

⁴⁹ So shall it be at the end of the world: The angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just, ⁵⁰ and shall cast them into a furnace of fire: There shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth."

⁵¹ and shall cut him apart, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

¹⁹ And I will say to my soul, "Soul, you have a great many goods laid up for many years; take your ease, eat, drink, and be merry." ' ²⁰ But God said to him, 'You fool, this night your soul shall be required of you: Then whose shall those things be, which you have provided?'

⁴⁰ Therefore you also be ready: For the Son of Man comes at an hour you would not think."

³⁰ But the soul that does ought presumptuously, whether he be born in the land, or a stranger, the same reproaches the LORD; and that soul shall be cut off from among his people. ³¹ Because he has despised the word of the LORD, and has broken his commandment, that soul shall utterly be cut off; his iniquity shall be on him.

² And it shall be, if the wicked man be worthy to be beaten, that the judge shall cause him to lie down, and to be beaten before his face, according to his fault, by a certain number. ³ Forty stripes he may give him, and not exceed: Lest, if he should exceed, and beat him above these with many stripes, then your brother should seem vile to you.

²² But I say to you, It shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon in the day of judgment, than for you. ²³ And you, Capernaum, which are exalted to heaven, shall be brought down to hell: For if the mighty works which have been done in you had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day. ²⁴ But I say to you, That it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for you."

¹² But I say to you, That it shall be more tolerable in that Day for Sodom, than for that city. ¹³ Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the mighty works which have been done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented a long while ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes. ¹⁴ But it shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the judgment, than for you. ¹⁵ And you, Capernaum, who are exalted to heaven, shall be thrust down to hell.

⁴¹ Jesus said to them, "If you were blind, you should have no sin: But now you say, 'We see'; therefore your sin remains."

⁴⁸ He who rejects Me, and does not receive My words, has one that judges him: The word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.

²² If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not have had sin: But now they have no cloke for their sin. ²³ He that hates Me hates My Father also. ²⁴ If I had not done among them the works which no other man did, they would not have had sin: But now they have both seen and hated both Me and My Father.

¹¹ Jesus answered, "You could have no power at all against Me, unless it was given you from above: Therefore he that delivered Me to you has the greater sin."

³⁰ Indeed, the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commands all men everywhere to repent:

¹⁵ For we are to God a sweet savor of Christ, in those that are saved, and in those that perish: ¹⁶ To the one we are the savour of death leading to death; and to the other the savor of life leading to life. And who is sufficient for these things?

¹⁷ Therefore, to him that knows to do good, and does not do it, to him it is sin.

⁸ But he refused, and said to his master's wife, "Behold, my master does not have knowledge of what is in the house with me, and he has committed all that he has to my hand; ⁹ there is none greater in this house than I; neither has he kept back anything from me except you, because you are his wife: How then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?" ¹⁰ And it came to pass, as she spoke to Joseph day by day, that he did not hearken to her, to lie by her, or to be with her. ¹¹ And it came to pass about this time, that Joseph went into the house to do his business; and none of the men of the house were inside. ¹² And she caught him by his garment, saying, "Lie with me": And he left his garment in her hand, and fled, and got himself out. ¹³ And it came to pass, when she saw that he had left his garment in her hand, and had fled forth, ¹⁴ that she called to the men of her house, and spoke to them, saying, "See, he has brought in a Hebrew to us to mock us; he came in to me to lie with me, and I cried out with a loud voice: ¹⁵ And it came to pass, when he heard that I lifted up my voice and cried, that he left his garment with me, and fled, and got himself out." ¹⁶ And she laid up his garment by her, until his lord came home. ¹⁷ And she spoke to him according to these words, saying, "The Hebrew servant, which you have brought to us, came in to me to mock me: ¹⁸ And it came to pass, as I lifted up my voice and cried out, that he left his garment with me, and fled out. ¹⁹ And it came to pass, when his master heard the words of his wife, which she spoke to him, saying, "In this manner your servant went after me"; that his wrath was kindled. ²⁰ And Joseph's master took him, and put him into the prison, a place where the king's prisoners were bound: And he was there in the prison. ²¹ But the LORD was with Joseph, and showed him mercy, and gave him favor in the sight of the keeper of the prison. ²² And the keeper of the prison committed to Joseph's hand all the prisoners that were in the prison; and whatever they did there, he was the doer of it. ²³ The keeper of the prison did not look into anything that was under his hand; because the LORD was with him, and that which he did, the LORD made it to prosper.

¹⁷ And if a soul sin, and commit any of these things which are forbidden to be done by the commandments of the LORD; though he knew it not, yet is he guilty, and shall bear his iniquity.

²⁹ You shall have one law for him that sins through ignorance, both for him that is born among the children of Israel, and for the stranger that sojourns among them. ³⁰ But the soul that does ought presumptuously, whether he be born in the land, or a stranger, the same reproaches the LORD; and that soul shall be cut off from among his people.

¹² For whoever has, to him more shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: But whoever does not have, even what he has shall be taken away from him.

¹⁴ For the kingdom of heaven is like a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered his goods to them. ¹⁵ And to one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his distinct ability; and immediately took his journey.1 talent is 750 ounces of silver; hence five talents is ~234.4 pounds of silver, two talents is ~93.8 pounds of silver, and one talent is ~46.9 pounds of silver. ¹⁶ Then he who had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made with them another five talents. ¹⁷ And likewise he who had received two, he also gained another two. ¹⁸ But he who had received one went and dug in the earth, and hid his lord's money. ¹⁹ After a long time the lord of those servants came, and settled accounts with them. ²⁰ And so he who had received five talents came and brought another five talents, saying, 'Lord, you delivered to me five talents: Behold, I have gained five more talents besides them. ²¹ His lord said to him, 'Well done, you good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things: Enter into the joy of your lord.' ²² He also who had received two talents came and said, 'Lord, you delivered to me two talents: Behold, I have gained two other talents besides them.' ²³ His lord said to him, 'Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things: Enter into the joy of your lord.' ²⁴ Then he who had received the one talent came and said, 'Lord, I knew that you are a hard man, reaping where you have not sown, and gathering where you have not scattered seed: ²⁵ And I was afraid, and went and hid your talent in the earth: Look, there you have what is yours.' ²⁶ His lord answered and said to him, 'You wicked and slothful servant, you knew that I reap where I have not sown, and gather where I have not scattered seed: ²⁷ Therefore you ought to have put my money with the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received back my own with interest. ²⁸ Therefore take the talent from him, and give it to him who has ten talents. ²⁹ For to everyone that has, more shall be given, and he shall have abundance: But from him who does not have, even that which he has shall be taken away.

¹² For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law, and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law; ¹³ (for the hearers of the law are not righteous before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified. ¹⁴ For when the Gentiles, who do not have the law, by nature do the things contained in the law, these, although not having the law, are a law to themselves: ¹⁵ Who show the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts like the plaintiff accusing or else excusing one another;) ¹⁶ in the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel.

¹⁷ For if I do this thing willingly, I have a reward: But if against my will, a dispensation of the gospel is committed to me. ¹⁸ What is my reward then? Truly that, when I preach the gospel, I may give the gospel of Christ without charge, that I do not abuse my power in the gospel.

¹¹ according to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust.

²⁰ O Timothy, keep that which is committed to your trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science (falsely so called):

³ but has in due times manifested His word through preaching, which is committed to me according to the commandment of God our Savior:

¹ My brethren, do not be many masters, knowing that we shall receive the greater condemnation.

⁴ But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: And he shall smite the earth: With the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips he shall slay the wicked.

³⁰ And I will show wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke. ³¹ The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD comes.

² "But who may abide the day of His coming? And who shall stand when He appears? For He is like a refiner's fire, and like fullers' soap: ³ And He shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver: And He shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer to the LORD an offering in righteousness.

¹ "For behold, the day comes, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yes, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: And the day that comes shall burn them up", says the LORD of hosts, "that it shall leave them neither root nor branch.

¹⁰ And even now the axe is laid to the root of the trees: Therefore every tree which does not bring forth good fruit is hewed down, and cast into the fire. ¹¹ I indeed baptize you with water as to repentance: But He that comes after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to carry: He shall baptize you with the Holy Spirit, and with fire: ¹² Whose fan is in His hand, and He will thoroughly purge His floor, and gather His wheat into the granary; but He will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire."

⁵³ And as He said these things to them, the scribes and the Pharisees began to quarrel against Him vehemently, and to provoke Him to speak of many things: ⁵⁴ Lying in wait for Him, and seeking to catch something out of His mouth, that they might accuse Him.

⁵¹ Do you suppose that I have come to give peace on earth? I tell you, no; but rather division: ⁵² For from this time forward there shall be five in one house divided, three against two, and two against three.

³¹ The same day there came certain ones of the Pharisees, saying to Him, "Get out, and depart from this place: For Herod will kill You." ³² And He said to them, "You go, and tell that fox, 'Behold, I cast out devils, and I do cures today and tomorrow, and the third day I shall be perfected.' ³³ Nevertheless I must walk today, tomorrow, and the day following: For it cannot be that a prophet perish outside of Jerusalem.

³⁹ And some of the Pharisees from among the multitude said to Him, "Master, rebuke Your disciples." ⁴⁰ And He answered and said to them, "I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out."

⁴ I must work the works of Him that sent Me, while it is day: The night is coming, when no man can work.

⁸ His disciples said to Him, "Master, the Jews sought to stone You not long ago; and are You going to that place again?" ⁹ Jesus answered, "Are there not twelve hours in the day? If anyone walks in the day, he does not stumble, because he sees the light of this world. ¹⁰ But if one walks in the night, he stumbles, because there is no light in him."

¹⁷ Therefore the people that were with Him when He called Lazarus out of his grave, and raised him from the dead, bore record. ¹⁸ For this reason the people also met Him, because they heard that He had done this miracle. ¹⁹ The Pharisees therefore said among themselves, "Do you perceive how you prevail in nothing? Behold, the world has gone after Him."

⁸ I delight to do Your will, O my God: Yes, Your law is within my heart."

¹⁷ Then Jesus going up to Jerusalem took the twelve disciples aside on the way, and said to them, ¹⁸ "Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of Man shall be betrayed to the chief priests and to the scribes, and they shall condemn Him to death, ¹⁹ and shall deliver Him to the Gentiles to mock, and to scourge, and to crucify Him: And the third day He shall rise again." ²⁰ Then the mother of Zebedee's children came to Him with her sons, worshiping Him, and desiring a certain thing from Him. ²¹ And He said to her, "What do you desire?" She said to Him, "Grant that these two sons of mine may sit, the one on Your right hand, and the other on the left, in Your kingdom." ²² And Jesus answered and said, "You do not know what you ask. Are you able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of, and to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?" They said to Him, "We are able."

³² Now they were on the road going up to Jerusalem; and Jesus went before them: And they were amazed; and as they followed, they were afraid. Then He took the twelve again, and began to tell them what things would happen to Him, ³³ saying, "Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of Man shall be delivered to the chief priests, and to the scribes; and they shall condemn Him to death, and shall deliver Him to the Gentiles: ³⁴ And they shall mock Him, and shall scourge Him, and shall spit upon Him, and shall kill Him: And the third day He shall rise again." ³⁵ Then James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came to Him, saying, "Master, we would like that You do for us whatever we desire." ³⁶ And He said to them, "What do you will that I should do for you?" ³⁷ They said to Him, "Grant to us that we may sit, one on Your right hand, and the other on Your left hand, in Your glory." ³⁸ But Jesus said to them, "You do not know what you ask: Can you drink of the cup that I drink of? And be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?"

³⁴ Jesus said to them, "My food is to do the will of Him that sent Me, and to finish His work.

⁶ Then Jesus said to them, "My time has not yet come: But your time is always ready. ⁷ The world cannot hate you; but it hates Me, because I testify of it, that the works of the world are evil. ⁸ You go up to this feast: I am not yet going up to this feast; for My time has not yet fully come."

¹⁰ But when His brothers had gone up, then He also went up to the feast, not openly, but as it were in secret.

³⁹ Therefore they sought again to apprehend Him: But He escaped out of their hand, ⁴⁰ and He went away again beyond the Jordan into the place where John first baptized; and there He abode. ⁴¹ Then many resorted to Him, and said, "John did no miracle: But all things that John spoke concerning this Man were true."

²⁷ Now My soul is troubled; and what shall I say? 'Father, save Me from this hour'? But for this reason I came to this hour. ²⁸ Father, glorify Your name." Then there came a voice from heaven, saying, "I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again."

¹¹ Then Jesus said to Peter, "Put your sword into the sheath: The cup which My Father has given Me, shall I not drink it?"

³⁰ When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, He said, "It is finished": Then He bowed His head, and gave up the ghost.

²² And now behold, I go bound in the spirit to Jerusalem, not knowing the things that shall befall me there:

⁷ And I will feed the flock of slaughter, even you, O poor of the flock. And I took to myself two staffs; the one I called Beauty, and the other I called Bands; and I fed the flock. ⁸ I also cut off three shepherds in one month; and my soul loathed them, and their soul also abhorred me.

¹⁰ And I took my staff, even Beauty, and cut it apart, that I might break my covenant which I had made with all the people. ¹¹ And it was broken in that day: And so the poor of the flock that waited upon me knew that it was the word of the LORD.

¹⁴ Then I cut apart my other staff, even Bands, that I might break the brotherhood between Judah and Israel.

³⁴ Do not think that I came to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. ³⁵ For I have come to 'set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.' ³⁶ And 'a man's foes shall be those of his own household.'

⁷ For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: And there shall be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes, in diverse places. ⁸ All these are the beginning of sorrows. ⁹ Then they shall deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: And you shall be hated by all nations for My name's sake. ¹⁰ And then many shall be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.

⁴⁹ I have come to send fire on the earth; and what will I do, if it is already kindled?

⁹ Yeah, my own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, who ate of my bread, has lifted up his heel against me.

⁵ Do not trust in a friend, do not put your confidence in a guide: Keep the doors of your mouth from her that lies in your bosom. ⁶ For the son dishonors the father, the daughter rises up against her mother, the daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; a man's enemies are the men of his own house.

⁴¹ Others said, "This is the Christ." But some said, "Shall Christ come out of Galilee? ⁴² Has not the scripture said that Christ comes from the seed of David, and out of the town of Bethlehem, where David was?" ⁴³ So there was a division among the people because of Him.

¹⁶ Therefore some of the Pharisees said, "This Man is not from God, because He does not keep the Sabbath day." Others said, "How can a man that is a sinner do such miracles?" And there was a division among them.

¹⁹ Therefore there was a division again among the Jews because of these sayings. ²⁰ And many of them said, "He has a devil, and is mad; why give audience to Him?" ²¹ Others said, "These are not the words of one who has a devil. Can a devil open the eyes of the blind?"

¹⁸ If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you. ¹⁹ If you were of the world, the world would love his own: But because you are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. ²⁰ Remember the word that I said to you, 'The servant is not greater than his lord.' If they have persecuted Me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept My sayings, they will keep yours also. ²¹ But all these things they will do to you for My name's sake, because they do not know Him that sent Me.

² They shall put you out of the synagogues: Yes, the time is coming, that whoever kills you will think that he does service to God.

⁴³ Now when the congregation had broken up, many of the Jews and devout proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas: Who, speaking to them, persuaded them to continue in the grace of God. ⁴⁴ And the next Sabbath day almost the whole city came together to hear the Word of God. ⁴⁵ But when the Jews saw the multitudes, they were filled with envy, and spoke against those things which were spoken by Paul, contradicting and blaspheming. ⁴⁶ Then Paul and Barnabas waxed bold, and said, "It was necessary that the Word of God should first have been spoken to you: But seeing you put it away from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, behold, we turn to the Gentiles.

¹ And it came to pass in Iconium, that they both went together into the synagogue of the Jews, and in like manner spoke, so that a large multitude both of the Jews and also of the Greeks believed. ² But the unbelieving Jews stirred up the Gentiles, and made their minds inclined toward evil against the brethren. ³ They therefore abode a long time, speaking boldly in the Lord, which gave testimony to the word of His grace, and granted signs and wonders to be done by their hands. ⁴ But the multitude of the city was divided: And part held with the Jews, and part with the apostles.

²⁴ And some believed the things which were spoken, and some did not believe.

² And it shall come to pass in that day", says the LORD of hosts, "that I will cut off the names of the idols out of the land, and they shall no longer be remembered: And I will also cause the prophets and the unclean spirit to pass out of the land. ³ And it shall come to pass, that when anyone shall still prophesy even yet, then his father and his mother that begat him shall say to him, 'You shall not live; for you speak lies in the name of the LORD': And his father and his mother that begat him shall thrust him through when he prophesies. ⁴ And it shall come to pass in that day, that the prophets shall be ashamed, every one, of his vision, when he has prophesied; neither shall they wear a rough garment in order to deceive:rough garment: In Hebrew, garment of hair ⁵ But he shall say, 'I am no prophet, I am a farmer; for man taught me to keep domestic beasts from my youth.' ⁶ And one shall say to him, 'What are these wounds in your hands?' Then he shall answer, 'Those with which I was wounded in the house of my friends.' "

²¹ And the brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child: And the children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death. ²² And you shall be hated by all people for My name's sake: But he who endures to the end shall be saved.

¹⁰ And then many shall be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.

⁴⁴ And it came to pass at the seventh time, that he said, "Behold, there rises a little cloud out of the sea, like a man's hand. And he said, "Go up, say to Ahab, Prepare your chariot, and get yourself down that the rain stop you not. ⁴⁵ And it came to pass in the mean while, that the heaven was black with clouds and wind, and there was a great rain. And Ahab rode, and went to Jezreel.

² He answered and said to them, "When it is evening, you say, 'It will be fair weather: For the sky is red.' ³ And in the morning, 'It will be foul weather today: For the sky is red and dark.' O you hypocrites, you can discern the face of the sky; but can you not discern the signs of the times? ⁴ A wicked and adulterous generation seeks after a sign; and there shall be no sign given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonah." And He left them, and departed.

¹⁷ How your garments are warm, when he quiets the earth by the south wind?

¹² saying, 'These last have worked only one hour, and you have made them equal to us who have carried the burden and heat of the day.'

³² And of the children of Issachar, which were men that had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do; the heads of them were two hundred; and all their brothers were at their commandment.

²⁴ Seventy weeks are determined upon your people and upon your holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the Most Holy. ²⁵ Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem to the Messiah the Prince, shall be seven weeks, and sixty-two weeks: The street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times. ²⁶ And after sixty-two weeks Messiah shall be cut off, but not for Himself: And the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end of it shall be with a flood, and until the end of the war desolations are determined.

⁷ and I will shake all nations, and the desire of all nations shall come: And I will fill this house with glory', says the LORD of hosts.

¹ "Behold, I will send My messenger, and he shall prepare the way before Me: And the Lord, Whom all of you seek, shall suddenly come to His temple, even the Messenger of the covenant, Whom you all delight in: Behold, He shall come", says the LORD of hosts.

² But to you that fear My name, the Sun of Righteousness shall arise with healing in His wings; and you all shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall.

²⁵ At that time Jesus answered and said, "I thank you, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because You have hidden these things from the wise and prudent, and have revealed them to babes.

³ And in the morning, 'It will be foul weather today: For the sky is red and dark.' O you hypocrites, you can discern the face of the sky; but can you not discern the signs of the times?

³² Now learn a parable of the fig tree; when its branch is still tender, and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is near: ³³ So you likewise, when you see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.

⁴² saying, "If you had known, even you, at least in this day, the things which relate to your peace! But now they are hid from your eyes. ⁴³ For the days shall come upon you, that your enemies shall cast a trench around you, surround you, and keep you in on every side, ⁴⁴ and shall level you even with the ground, and your children within you; and they shall not leave one stone upon another in you; because you did not know the time of your visitation."

²⁴ Yes, and all the prophets from Samuel and those that followed after, as many as have spoken, have likewise foretold of these days. ²⁵ You are the children of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying to Abraham, 'And in your seed shall all the kindreds of the earth be blessed.' ²⁶ First to you, God has raised up His Son Jesus, sent Him to bless you, in turning every one of you away from his iniquities."

⁴ But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law,

²⁹ O that they were wise, that they understood this, that they would consider their latter end!

¹⁰ Then He called the multitude, and said to them, "Hear and understand: ¹¹ That which goes into the mouth does not defile a man; but that which comes out of the mouth, this defiles a man." ¹² Then His disciples came, and said to Him, "Do you know that the Pharisees were offended, after they heard this saying?" ¹³ But He answered and said, "Every plant, which My heavenly Father has not planted, shall be plucked up by the root. ¹⁴ Leave them alone: They are blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind leads the blind, both shall fall into the ditch."

²¹ Jesus answered and said to them, "Truly I say to you, If you have faith, and do not doubt, you shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if you shall say to this mountain, 'Be removed, and be cast into the sea'; it shall be done.

³² For John came to you in the way of righteousness, and you did not believe him: But the publicans and the harlots believed him: And you, when you had seen it, did not repent afterward, that you might believe him.

³⁰ when they shoot forth, you see and know for yourselves that summer is now near at hand.

²⁴ Do not judge according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment."

⁴⁰ And with many other words he testified and exhorted them, saying, "Save yourselves from this crooked generation."

²⁶ "Men and brethren, children of the stock of Abraham, and whoever among you that fears God, to you the word of this salvation is sent. ²⁷ For those that dwell at Jerusalem, and their rulers, because they did not know Him, nor even the voices of the prophets which are read every Sabbath day, they have fulfilled them in condemning Him. ²⁸ And though they found no cause for death in Him, yet they desired of Pilate that He should be slain. ²⁹ And when they had fulfilled all that was written about Him, they took Him down from the tree, and laid Him in a sepulchre. ³⁰ But God raised Him from the dead: ³¹ And He was seen for many days by those that came up with Him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who are His witnesses to the people. ³² And we declare to you glad tidings, how the promise which was made to the fathers, ³³ God has fulfilled the same for us their children, in that He has raised up Jesus again; as it is also written in the second Psalm, 'You are My Son, this day I have begotten You.' ³⁴ And concerning how He raised Him from the dead, now no more to return to corruption, He spoke in this manner, 'I will give you the sure mercies of David.' ³⁵ Therefore He also says in another Psalm, 'You shall not permit Your Holy One to see corruption.' ³⁶ "For David, after he had served the will of God in his own generation, fell asleep dead, and was laid with his fathers, and saw corruption: ³⁷ But He, whom God raised again, saw no corruption. ³⁸ Therefore let it be known to you, men and brethren, that through this Man is preached to you the forgiveness of sins:

¹⁴ Does not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man has long hair, it is a shame to him?

³ And Jacob sent messengers before him to Esau his brother in the land of Seir, the country of Edom. ⁴ And he commanded them, saying, "Thus shall you speak to my lord Esau; 'Your servant Jacob says thus, "I have sojourned with Laban, and stayed there until now: ⁵ And I have oxen, and donkeys, flocks, and menservants, and womenservants: And I have sent to tell my lord, that I may find grace in your sight." ' " ⁶ And the messengers returned to Jacob, saying, "We came to your brother Esau, and also he comes to meet you, and four hundred men with him." ⁷ Then Jacob was greatly afraid and distressed: And he divided the people that were with him, and the flocks, and herds, and the camels, into two bands; ⁸ and said, "If Esau comes to the one company, and smite it, then the other company which is left shall escape." ⁹ And Jacob said, "O God of my father Abraham, and God of my father Isaac, the LORD which said to me, 'Return to your country, and to your kindred, and I will deal well with you': ¹⁰ I am not worthy of the least of all the mercies, and of all the truth, which you have showed to your servant; for with my staff I passed over this Jordan; and now I have become two bands. ¹¹ Deliver me, I implore you, from the hand of my brother, from the hand of Esau: For I fear him, lest he will come and smite me, and the mother with the children. ¹² And You said, 'I will surely do you good, and make your seed as the sand of the sea, which cannot be numbered for multitude.' " ¹³ And he lodged there that same night; and took of that which came to his hand, a present for Esau his brother; ¹⁴ two hundred she-goats, and twenty he-goats, two hundred ewes, and twenty rams, ¹⁵ thirty milk camels with their colts, forty cows, and ten bulls, twenty she-donkeys, and ten foals. ¹⁶ And he delivered them into the hand of his servants, every herd by themselves; and said to his servants, "Pass over before me, and put a space between one herd and the next herd." ¹⁷ And he commanded the foremost, saying, "When Esau my brother meets you, and asks you, saying, 'Whose are you?' And, 'Where are you going? And whose are these before you?' ¹⁸ Then you shall say, 'They are your servant Jacob's; it is a present sent to my lord Esau: And behold, also he is behind us.' " ¹⁹ And so he commanded the second, and the third, and all that followed the herds, saying, "In this manner you shall speak to Esau, when you find him. ²⁰ And moreover say, 'Behold, your servant Jacob is behind us.' " For he said, "I will appease him with the present that goes before me, and afterward I will see his face; peradventure he will accept from me." ²¹ So the present went over before him: And he himself lodged that night in the company. ²² And he rose up that night, and took his two wives, and his two womenservants, and his eleven sons, and passed over the ford Jabbok. ²³ And he took them, and sent them over the brook, and sent over that which he had. ²⁴ And Jacob was left alone; and there a man wrestled with him until the breaking of the day. ²⁵ And when he saw that he did not prevail against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh; and the hollow of Jacob's thigh was out of joint, as he wrestled with him. ²⁶ And he said, "Let me go, for the day breaks." And he said, "I will not let you go, unless you bless me." ²⁷ And he said to him, "What is your name?" And he said, "Jacob." ²⁸ And he said, "Your name shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel: For as a prince you have power with God and with men, and have prevailed."Israel; that is, A prince of God

¹⁸ Then Abigail made haste, and took two hundred loaves, and two bottles of wine, and five sheep ready dressed, and five measures of parched grain kernels, and a hundred clusters of raisins, and two hundred cakes of figs, and laid them on donkeys. ¹⁹ And she said to her servants, "Go on before me; behold, I come after you. But she did not tell her husband Nabal. ²⁰ And so it was, as she rode on the donkey, that she came down by the covert of the hill, and behold, David and his men came down against her; and she met them. ²¹ Now David had said, "Surely in vain I have kept all that this fellow has in the wilderness, so that nothing was missed of all that pertained to him: And he has repaid me evil for good. ²² God do so and more also to the enemies of David, if by the morning light I leave anything that pisses against the wall of all that pertains to him." ²³ And when Abigail saw David, she hurried, and lighted off the donkey, and fell before David on her face, and bowed herself to the ground, ²⁴ and fell at his feet, and said, "Upon me, my lord, upon me let this iniquity be: And let your handmaid, I implore you, speak in your audience, and hear the words of your handmaid. ²⁵ Let not my lord, I implore you, regard this man of Belial, even Nabal: For as his name is, so is he; Nabal is his name, and folly is with him: But I, your handmaid, did not see the young men of my lord, whom you sent. ²⁶ Now therefore, my lord, as the LORD lives, and as your soul lives, seeing the LORD has withheld you from coming to shed blood, and from avenging yourself with your own hand, now let your enemies, and those that seek evil to my lord, be as Nabal. ²⁷ And now this blessing which your handmaid has brought to my lord, let it even be given to the young men that follow my lord. ²⁸ I implore you, forgive the trespass of your handmaid: For the LORD will certainly make my lord a sure house; because my lord fights the battles of the LORD, and evil has not been found in you all your days. ²⁹ Yet a man is risen to pursue you, and to seek your soul: But the soul of my lord shall be bound in the bundle of life with the LORD your God; and the souls of your enemies, those ones He shall sling out, as out of the middle of a sling. ³⁰ And it shall come to pass, when the LORD shall have done to my lord according to all the good that he has spoken concerning you, and shall have appointed you ruler over Israel; ³¹ that this shall be no grief to you, nor offense of heart to my lord, either that you have shed blood without cause, or that my lord has avenged himself: But when the LORD shall have dealt well with my lord, then remember your handmaid." ³² And David said to Abigail, "Blessed be the LORD God of Israel, which sent you to meet me this day: ³³ And blessed be your advice, and blessed be you, which have kept me from coming to shed blood this day, and from avenging myself with my own hand. ³⁴ For surely, as the LORD God of Israel lives, which has kept me back from hurting you, unless you had hurried and come to meet me, surely there would not have been left to Nabal anything that pisses against the wall by the morning light." ³⁵ So David received from her hand that which she had brought him, and said to her, "Go up in peace to your house; see, I have hearkened to your voice, and have accepted your person."

²¹ Now acquaint yourself with Him, and be at peace: By this good shall come to you.

⁷ There the righteous might dispute with him; so should I be delivered forever from my judge.

¹⁷ But you have fulfilled the judgment of the wicked: Judgment and justice take hold on you. ¹⁸ Because there is wrath, beware lest he take you away with his stroke: Then a great ransom cannot deliver you.

⁶ Everyone that is godly shall pray to You for this in a time when You may be found: In the floods of great waters they surely shall not come near to him.

²² Now consider this, you that forget God, lest I tear you in pieces, and there be none to deliver.

¹ My son, if you be surety for your friend, if you have shaken your hand in pledge with a stranger, ² you are snared with the words of your mouth, you are taken with the words of your mouth. ³ Do this now, my son, and deliver yourself, when you have come into the hand of your friend; go, humble yourself, and so shall you prevail with your friend. ⁴ Do not give sleep to your eyes, nor slumber to your eyelids. ⁵ Deliver yourself as a gazelle from the hand of the hunter, and as a bird from the hand of the fowler.

⁸ Do not go hastily forth to strive, lest you know not what to do in the end of it, when your neighbor has put you to shame. ⁹ Debate your cause with your neighbor himself; and do not disclose a secret to another:

⁶ All of you seek the LORD while He may be found, call on Him while He is near:

²³ Therefore if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you; ²⁴ leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way; first be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift. ²⁵ Agree with your adversary quickly, while you are on the way with him; lest at any time your adversary deliver you to the judge, and the judge deliver you to the officer, and you be cast into prison. ²⁶ Truly I say to you, You shall by no means come out of there, until you have paid the uttermost one fourth copper coin.

³⁰ And he would not: But went and cast him into prison, until he should pay the debt.

²⁴ "Strive to enter in at the narrow gate: For many, I say to you, Will seek to enter in, and will not be able. ²⁵ When once the Master of the house is risen up, and has shut the door, and you begin to stand outside, and to knock at the door, saying, 'Lord, Lord, open to us'; and He shall answer and say to you, 'I do not know you, nor what place you belong': ²⁶ Then you shall begin to say, 'We have eaten and drank in Your presence, and You have taught in our streets.' ²⁷ But He shall say, 'I tell you, I do not know you, nor what place you belong; depart from Me, all you workers of iniquity.' ²⁸ There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when you see Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out.

³¹ Or what king, going to make war against another king, does not sit down first, and consult whether he is able with ten thousand to meet him that comes against him with twenty thousand? ³² Or else, while the other is still a great way off, he sends a delegation, and desires conditions of peace.

² (For He said, "I have heard you in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation I have helped you": Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)

⁷ Therefore (as the Holy Spirit says, "Today, if you will hear His voice, ⁸ do not harden your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness: ⁹ When your fathers tempted Me, proved Me, and saw My works forty years. ¹⁰ Therefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, 'They always err in their heart; and they have not known My ways.' ¹¹ So I swore in My wrath, 'They shall not enter into My rest.' ") ¹² Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God. ¹³ But exhort one another daily, while it is called "Today"; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.

¹⁹ By which also He went and preached to the spirits in prison;

⁷ And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison,

³⁴ And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors until he should pay all that was due to him.
