¹ And it came to pass as He was praying in a certain place, when He ceased, that one of His disciples said to Him, "Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples." ² And He said to them, "When you pray, say: Our Father which is in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done, as in heaven, so also on earth. ³ Give us day by day our daily bread. ⁴ And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive everyone who is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil." ⁵ And He said to them, "Which of you having a friend, will go to him at midnight, and say to him, 'Friend, lend me three loaves; ⁶ For a friend of mine on his journey has come to me, and I have nothing to set before him'? ⁷ And from within he shall answer and say, 'Do not trouble me: The door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot rise and give to you.' ⁸ I say to you, Though he will not rise and give to him because he is his friend, yet because of his pressing requests he will rise and give him as much as he needs. ⁹ So I say to you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and you shall find; knock, and it shall be opened to you. ¹⁰ For everyone that asks receives; and he that seeks finds; and to him that knocks it shall be opened. ¹¹ If a son shall ask for bread from any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent instead of a fish? ¹² Or if he asks for an egg, will he offer him a scorpion? ¹³ If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children: How much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him?" ¹⁴ And He was casting out a devil, and it was mute. And it came to pass, when the devil had gone out, the mute spoke; and the people wondered. ¹⁵ But some of them said, "He casts out devils through Beelzebub, the chief of the devils." ¹⁶ And others, tempting Him, sought from Him a sign from heaven. ¹⁷ But He, knowing their thoughts, said to them, "Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and a house divided against a house falls. ¹⁸ If Satan also is divided against himself, how shall his kingdom stand? Because you say that I cast out devils through Beelzebub. ¹⁹ And if I cast out devils through Beelzebub, by whom do your sons cast them out? Therefore they shall be your judges. ²⁰ But if I cast out devils with the finger of God, no doubt the kingdom of God has come upon you. ²¹ When a strong and armed man keeps his palace, his goods are in peace: ²² But when one stronger than he comes upon him, and overcomes him, he takes from him all his armor in which he trusted, and divides his spoils. ²³ He who is not with Me is against Me: And he that does not gather with Me scatters. ²⁴ When the unclean spirit has gone out of a man, he walks through dry places, seeking rest; and finding none, he says, 'I will return to my house from which I came out.' ²⁵ And when he comes, he finds it swept and furnished. ²⁶ Then he goes, and takes with him seven other spirits more wicked than himself; and they enter in, and dwell there: And the last state of that man is worse than the first." ²⁷ And it came to pass, as He spoke these things, a certain woman from the multitude lifted up her voice, and said to Him, "Blessed is the womb that bore You, and the nipples which You have sucked." ²⁸ But He said, "Rather, blessed are those who hear the Word of God, and keep it." ²⁹ And when the people were gathered thickly together, He began to say, "This is an evil generation: They seek a sign; and no sign shall be given it, except the sign of Jonah the prophet. ³⁰ For as Jonah was a sign to the Ninevites, so also shall the Son of Man be to this generation. ³¹ The queen of the South shall rise up in the judgment with the men of this generation, and condemn them: For she came from the utmost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and behold, one greater than Solomon is here. ³² The men of Nineveh shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: For they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and behold, one greater than Jonah is here. ³³ No man, when he has lit a candle, puts it in a secret place, nor under a basket, but on a candlestick, that those who come in may see the light. ³⁴ The light of the body is the eye: Therefore when your eye is single, your whole body is also full of light; but when your eye is evil, your body is also full of darkness. ³⁵ Therefore take heed that the light which is in you is not darkness. ³⁶ If therefore your whole body is full of light, having no part dark, the complete whole shall be full of light, as when the bright shining of a candle gives you light." ³⁷ And as He spoke, a certain Pharisee implored Him to dine with him: And He went in, and sat down to eat. ³⁸ And when the Pharisee saw it, he marveled that He had not first washed before dinner. ³⁹ And the Lord said to him, "Now you Pharisees make clean the outside of the cup and the platter; but your inward part is full of ravening and wickedness. ⁴⁰ You fools, did not He that made that which is outside make that which is inside also? ⁴¹ But rather give alms of such things as you have; and behold, all things are clean to you. ⁴² But woe to you, Pharisees! For you tithe mint and rue and all manner of herbs, and pass over judgment and the love of God: These you ought to have done, and not left the others undone. ⁴³ Woe to you, Pharisees! For you love the uppermost seats in the synagogues, and greetings in the markets. ⁴⁴ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are as graves which are not visible, and the men that walk over them are not aware of them." ⁴⁵ Then one of the lawyers answered, and said to Him, "Master, in this saying You reproach us also." ⁴⁶ And He said, "Woe to you also, you lawyers! For you load men with burdens grievous to bear, and you yourselves do not touch the burdens with one of your fingers. ⁴⁷ Woe to you! For you build the sepulchers of the prophets, and your fathers killed them. ⁴⁸ Truly you bear witness that you allow the deeds of your fathers: For they indeed killed them, and you build their sepulchers. ⁴⁹ Therefore the wisdom of God also said, 'I will send them prophets and apostles, and some of them they shall slay and persecute': ⁵⁰ That the blood of all the prophets, which was shed from the foundation of the world, may be required of this generation; ⁵¹ from the blood of Abel to the blood of Zacharias, who perished between the altar and the temple: Truly I say to you, It shall be required of this generation. ⁵² Woe to you, lawyers! For you have taken away the key of knowledge: You did not enter in yourselves, and you hindered those that were entering in." ⁵³ And as He said these things to them, the scribes and the Pharisees began to quarrel against Him vehemently, and to provoke Him to speak of many things: ⁵⁴ Lying in wait for Him, and seeking to catch something out of His mouth, that they might accuse Him.

¹⁷ LORD, You have heard the desire of the humble: You will prepare their heart, You will cause Your ear to hear:

¹⁴ Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in Your sight, O LORD, my strength, and my Redeemer.

¹² And it came to pass in those days, that He went out into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God.

¹⁸ And it came to pass, as He was alone praying, His disciples were with Him: And He asked them, saying, "Who do the people say that I am?"

²⁸ And it came to pass about eight days after these sayings, He took Peter, John, and James, and went up into a mountain to pray.

³⁹ And He came out, and went to the Mount of Olives, as He was accustomed; and His disciples also followed Him. ⁴⁰ And when He was at the place, He said to them, "Pray that you do not enter into temptation." ⁴¹ And He was withdrawn from them about a stone's throw, and knelt down, and prayed, ⁴² saying, "Father, if You are willing, remove this cup from Me: Nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done." ⁴³ Moreover an angel appeared to Him from heaven, strengthening Him. ⁴⁴ And being in an agony, He prayed more earnestly: Moreover His sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground. ⁴⁵ And when He rose up from prayer, and had come to His disciples, He found them sleeping out of sorrow,

²⁶ Likewise the Spirit also helps our infirmities: For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought: But the Spirit itself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. ²⁷ Moreover He that searches the hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

⁷ Who in the days of His flesh, when He had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears to Him that was able to save Him from death, and was heard because He feared;

² You lust, and have not: You kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: You fight and war, yet you do not have, because you do not ask. ³ You ask, and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may consume it upon your lusts.

²⁰ But you, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit,

³ Then Moses said to Aaron, "This is it that the LORD spoke, saying, "I will be sanctified in them that come near me, and before all the people I will be glorified. And Aaron held his peace.

²³ Either a bull or a lamb that has anything superfluous or lacking in his parts, that may you offer for a freewill offering; but for a vow it shall not be accepted.

⁴³ hear you in heaven your dwelling place, and do according to all that the stranger calls to you for: That all people of the earth may know your name, to fear you, as do your people Israel; and that they may know that this house, which I have built, is called by your name.

¹⁹ Now therefore, O LORD our God, I beseech you, save you us out of his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that you are the LORD God, even you only.

⁶ and said, "O LORD God of our fathers, are not you God in heaven? And rule not you over all the kingdoms of the heathen? And in your hand is there not power and might, so that none is able to withstand you?

⁴ The LORD is in His holy temple, the LORD's throne is in heaven: His eyes behold and His eyelids examine the children of men.

¹¹ Be exalted, O God, above the heavens: Let Your glory be above all the earth.

¹⁸ Blessed be the LORD God, the God of Israel, Who only does wondrous things. ¹⁹ And blessed be His glorious name forever: And let the whole earth be filled with His glory; Amen, and Amen.

²⁰ Bless the LORD, you His angels, that excel in strength, that do His commandments, hearkening to the voice of His word.

⁵ Be exalted, O God, above the heavens: And Your glory above all the earth;

² Do not be rash with your mouth, and do not let your heart be hasty to utter anything before God: For God is in heaven, and you on earth: Therefore let your words be few.

² And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the LORD's house shall be established on the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow to it. ³ And many people shall go and say, "Come all of you, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; and He will teach us of His ways, and we will walk in His paths": For out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. ⁴ And He shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: And they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning-hooks: Nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more. ⁵ O house of Jacob, come all of you, and let us walk in the light of the LORD.

² Above it stood the seraphim: Each one had six wings; with two he covered his face, and with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. ³ And one cried out to another, and said, "Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: The whole earth is full of his glory."

¹⁶ Doubtless You are our father, though Abraham be ignorant of us, and Israel does not acknowledge us: You, O LORD, are our Father, our Redeemer; Your name is from everlasting.

²³ And I will sanctify My great name, which was profaned among the heathen, which you have profaned in the midst of them; and the heathen shall know that I am the LORD", said the Lord GOD, "when I shall be sanctified in you before their eyes.

²⁸ but there is a God in heaven that reveals secrets, and makes known to the king Nebuchadnezzar what shall be in the latter days. Your dream, and the visions of your head upon your bed, are these;

⁴⁴ And in the days of these kings the God of heaven shall set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: And the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand forever.

¹⁸ But the saints of the Most High shall take the kingdom, and possess the kingdom forever, even forever and ever.'

²⁷ And the kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the kingdom under the whole heaven, shall be given to the people of the saints of the Most High, Whose kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey Him.'

² Take with you words, and turn to the LORD: Say to Him, "Take away all iniquity, and receive us graciously: So will we render the calves of our lips.

¹⁴ For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.

² and saying, "Repent: For the kingdom of heaven is at hand."

¹⁶ Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

⁶ But you, when you pray, enter into your closet, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father which is in secret: And your Father which sees in secret shall reward you openly. ⁷ But when you pray, do not use vain repetitions, as the heathen do: For they think that they shall be heard because of their many words. ⁸ Therefore, do not be like them: For your Father knows what things you have need of, before you ask Him. ⁹ In this manner, therefore, pray: 'Our Father which is in heaven, hallowed be Your name. ¹⁰ Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. ¹¹ Give us this day our daily bread. ¹² And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. ¹³ And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For Yours is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.' ¹⁴ For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: ¹⁵ But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

³² Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father which is in heaven.

⁹ And heal the sick that are there, and say to them, 'The kingdom of God has come near to you.' ¹⁰ But whatever city you enter into, and they do not receive you, go your way out into the streets of the same, and say, ¹¹ 'Even the very dust of your city, which sticks on us, we wipe off against you: Nevertheless be sure of this, that the kingdom of God has come near to you.'

⁷ To all who are in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints: Grace to you and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

¹⁵ For you have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but you have received the Spirit of adoption, by which we cry out, "Abba, Father."

⁸ Remove far from me vanity and lies: Give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with food convenient for me:

¹⁶ he shall dwell on high: His place of defense shall be the fortress of rocks: Bread shall be given him; his waters shall be sure.

³⁴ Therefore take no thought concerning tomorrow: For tomorrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient for the day is the evil of it.

¹⁶ the Angel which redeemed me from all evil, bless the lads; and let my name be named on them, and the name of my fathers Abraham and Isaac; and let them grow into a multitude in the midst of the earth."

³⁴ Then hear you in heaven, and forgive the sin of your people Israel, and bring them again to the land which you gave to their fathers.

³⁶ Then hear you in heaven, and forgive the sin of your servants, and of your people Israel, that you teach them the good way in which they should walk, and give rain on your land, which you have given to your people for an inheritance.

¹¹ For Your name's sake, O LORD, pardon my iniquity; for it is great.

¹⁸ Look upon my affliction and my pain; and forgive all my sins.

¹ Have mercy upon me, O God, according to Your lovingkindness: According to the multitude of your tender mercies blot out my transgressions. ² Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. ³ For I acknowledge my transgressions: And my sin is ever before me.

⁷ The LORD shall preserve you from all evil: He shall preserve your soul.

³ If You, LORD, should mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand? ⁴ But there is forgiveness with You, that You may be feared.

²⁵ I, even I, am He that blots out your transgressions for My own sake, and will not remember your sins. ²⁶ Put Me in remembrance: Let us plead together: Declare yourself, that you may be justified.

¹⁹ O Lord, hear; O Lord, forgive; O Lord, hearken and do; Defer not, for Your own sake, O my God: For Your city and Your people are called by Your name."

²⁵ At that time Jesus answered and said, "I thank you, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because You have hidden these things from the wise and prudent, and have revealed them to babes. ²⁶ Even so, Father: For so it seemed good in Your sight.

³⁵ So likewise my heavenly Father shall also do to you, if each one of you do not forgive from your hearts his brother their trespasses."

⁴¹ Watch and pray, that you do not enter into temptation: The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak."

¹³ Those upon the rock are they which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, who for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away.

⁴⁶ And He said to them, "Why do you sleep? Rise and pray, lest you enter into temptation."

¹⁵ I do not pray that You should take them out of the world, but that You should keep them from the evil.

¹³ There is no temptation that has taken you except such as is common to man: But God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able; but with the temptation will also make a way to escape, that you may be able to bear it.

⁷ And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, the messenger of Satan to wound me, lest I should be exalted above measure. ⁸ Concerning this thing I sought the Lord by entreaty three times, that it might depart from me.

³¹ Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice: ³² And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake has forgiven you.

¹³ bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if any man has a quarrel against anyone: Even as Christ forgave you, so also you do.

³ But the Lord is faithful, who shall establish you, and keep you from evil.

¹⁸ And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me for His heavenly kingdom: To whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.

¹³ For he that has shown no mercy shall have judgment without mercy; and mercy rejoices against judgment.

⁸ If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. ⁹ If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. ¹⁰ If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.

¹⁰ Fear none of those things which you shall suffer: Behold, the devil shall throw some of you into prison, that you may be proven; and you shall have tribulation ten days: Be faithful to death, and I will give you a crown of life.

¹⁰ Because you have kept the word of My patience, I also will keep you from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to prove by testing those that dwell upon the earth.

¹ Moreover He spoke a parable to them leading to this end, that men always ought to pray, and not to faint; ² saying, "There was a judge in a city, who did not fear God, nor regarded man: ³ And there was a widow in that city; and she came to him, saying, 'Avenge me from my adversary.' ⁴ And he would not for a while: But afterward he said within himself, 'Though I do not fear God, nor regard man; ⁵ yet because this widow troubles me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.' " ⁶ And the Lord said, "Hear what the unjust judge said. ⁷ And shall not God avenge His own elect, who cry day and night to Him, though He bears long with them? ⁸ I tell you that He will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, shall He find faith on the earth?"

¹⁰ And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and those who were ready went in with him to the marriage: And the door was shut.

⁶ Then Jesus went with them. And when He was now not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to Him, saying to Him, "Lord, do not trouble Yourself: For I am not worthy that You should enter under my roof:

²⁵ When once the Master of the house is risen up, and has shut the door, and you begin to stand outside, and to knock at the door, saying, 'Lord, Lord, open to us'; and He shall answer and say to you, 'I do not know you, nor what place you belong':

¹⁷ From now on let no man trouble me: For I bear in my body the marks of the Lord Jesus.

²⁶ And he said, "Let me go, for the day breaks." And he said, "I will not let you go, unless you bless me."

²² And behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same borders, and cried to Him, saying, "Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil." ²³ But He did not answer her a word. And His disciples came and implored Him, saying, "Send her away; for she cries out after us." ²⁴ But He answered and said, "I am not sent except to the lost sheep of the house of Israel." ²⁵ Then she came and worshiped Him, saying, "Lord, help me." ²⁶ But He answered and said, "It is not proper to take the children's bread, and throw it to dogs." ²⁷ And she said, "True, Lord: Yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table." ²⁸ Then Jesus answered and said to her, "O woman, great is your faith: Be it to you even as you intend." And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.

³⁰ Now I beseech you, brethren, for the Lord Jesus Christ's sake, and for the love of the Spirit, that you strive together with me in your prayers to God for me;

⁸ Concerning this thing I sought the Lord by entreaty three times, that it might depart from me.

¹ For I would like you to know what great conflict I have for you, and for those in Laodicea, and for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh;

¹² Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Christ, salutes you, always laboring fervently for you in prayers, that you may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God.

⁴ One thing I have desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to inquire in His temple.

⁸ When You said, "Seek my face"; my heart said to You, "LORD, I will seek Your face."

⁴ I sought the LORD, and He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.

¹⁰ The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: But those that seek the LORD shall not want any good thing.

¹⁵ And call upon Me in the day of trouble: I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me."

³ Glory in His holy name: Let the heart of those rejoice who seek the LORD. ⁴ Seek the LORD, and His strength: Seek His face evermore.

⁵ I called upon the LORD in distress: The LORD answered me, and set me in a large place.

¹ By night on my bed I sought him whom my soul loves: I sought him, but I did not find him. ² I will rise now, and go about the city in the streets, and in the broad ways I will seek him whom my soul loves: I sought him, but I did not find him. ³ The watchmen who go about the city found me: To whom I said, "Have you seen him whom my soul loves?" ⁴ It was but a little I passed from them, when I found him whom my soul loves: I held him, and would not let him go, until I had brought him into my mother's house, and into the chamber of her who conceived me.

⁶ I opened to my beloved; but my beloved had withdrawn himself, and was gone: My soul failed when he spoke: I sought him, but I could not find him; I called him, but he gave me no answer.

¹⁹ I have not spoken in secret, in a dark place of the earth: I did not say to the seed of Jacob, 'You seek me in vain': I the LORD speak righteousness, I declare things that are right.

⁶ All of you seek the LORD while He may be found, call on Him while He is near: ⁷ Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: And let him return to the LORD, and He will have mercy on him; and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon.

¹² Then you shall call upon Me, and you shall go and pray to Me, and I will hearken to you.

³ 'Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.'

³ And I set my face toward the LORD God, to seek by prayer and supplications, with fasting, and sackcloth, and ashes:

⁴ For thus says the LORD to the house of Israel, "Seek Me, and you shall live: ⁵ But do not seek Bethel, nor enter into Gilgal, and do not pass over to Beersheba: For Gilgal shall surely go into captivity, and Bethel shall come to nothing. ⁶ Seek the LORD, and you shall live; lest He break out like fire in the house of Joseph, and devour it, and there be none to quench it in Bethel.

²⁹ And yet I say to you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

⁷ Ask, and it shall be given to you; seek, and you shall find; knock, and it shall be opened to you: ⁸ For everyone that asks receives; and he that seeks finds; and to him that knocks it shall be opened. ⁹ Or what man is there among you, who if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? ¹⁰ Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent? ¹¹ If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him?

²² And all things, whatever you shall ask in prayer, believing, you shall receive."

³¹ Which of those two did the will of his father?" They said to Him, "The first." Jesus said to them, "Truly I say to you, That the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you.

²⁴ Therefore I say to you, Whatever things you desire, when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you shall have them.

³⁷ And what I say to you I say to all, Watch."

²⁴ "Strive to enter in at the narrow gate: For many, I say to you, Will seek to enter in, and will not be able. ²⁵ When once the Master of the house is risen up, and has shut the door, and you begin to stand outside, and to knock at the door, saying, 'Lord, Lord, open to us'; and He shall answer and say to you, 'I do not know you, nor what place you belong':

⁴⁵ Philip found Nathanael, and said to him, "We have found Him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, wrote, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph." ⁴⁶ And Nathanael said to him, "Can any good thing come out of Nazareth?" Philip said to him, "Come and see." ⁴⁷ Jesus saw Nathanael coming to Him, and said of him, "Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile!" ⁴⁸ Nathanael said to Him, "From where do You know me?" Jesus answered and said to him, "Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you." ⁴⁹ Nathanael answered and said to Him, "Rabbi, You are the Son of God; You are the King of Israel."

¹⁰ Jesus answered and said to her, "If you knew the gift of God, and who it is that says to you, 'Give Me a drink'; you would have asked of Him, and He would have given you living water."

¹³ And whatever you shall ask in My name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

⁷ If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you shall ask what you will, and it shall be done to you.

¹⁶ You have not chosen Me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that you should go and bear forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: That whatever you shall ask of the Father in My name, He may give it to you.

²³ And in that day you shall ask Me nothing. Truly, truly, I say to you, Whatever you shall ask the Father in My name, He will give you it. ²⁴ Until now you have asked nothing in My name: Ask, and you shall receive, that your joy may be full.

⁴ And when he looked at him, he was afraid, and said, "What is it, Lord?" And he said to him, "Your prayers and your charitable alms have come up as a memorial before God. ⁵ And now send men to Joppa, and call for one Simon, whose surname is Peter: ⁶ He lodges with one Simon, a tanner, whose house is by the sea side: He shall tell you what you ought to do."

⁷ To those who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honor and immortality, eternal life:

² (For He said, "I have heard you in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation I have helped you": Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)

⁸ Concerning this thing I sought the Lord by entreaty three times, that it might depart from me. ⁹ And He said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you: For My strength is made perfect in weakness." Therefore, I will most gladly rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

¹⁶ Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

⁶ But without faith it is impossible to please Him: For he that comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those that diligently seek Him.

⁵ If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, that gives to all people liberally, and without suffering reproach; and it shall be given to him.

¹⁵ And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he has committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.

²² And whatever we ask, we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in His sight.

¹⁴ And this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us: ¹⁵ And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of Him.

²⁴ "But to you I say, and to the rest in Thyatira, as many as do not have this doctrine, and which have not known the depths of Satan, as they say; I will put no other burden upon you.

²² For I said in my haste, "I am cut off from before Your eyes": Nevertheless You heard the voice of my supplications when I cried out to You.

⁸ Also when I cry and shout, He shuts out my prayer.

¹⁸ And I said, "My strength and my hope have perished from the LORD":

⁵⁴ Waters flowed over my head; then I said, "I am cut off." ⁵⁵ I called on Your name, O LORD, out of the low dungeon. ⁵⁶ You have heard my voice: Hide not Your ear at my breathing, at my cry. ⁵⁷ You drew near in the day that I called on You: You said, "Fear not." ⁵⁸ O LORD, You have pleaded the causes of my soul; You have redeemed my life.

² and said, "I cried by reason of my affliction to the LORD, and He heard me; out of the belly of hell I cried out, and You heard my voice. ³ For you had cast me into the deep, in the midst of the seas; and the floods compassed around me: All Your billows and Your waves passed over me. ⁴ Then I said, 'I am cast out of Your sight; yet I will look again toward Your holy temple.' ⁵ The waters encompassed me, even to the soul: The depth closed me in all around, the weeds were wrapped about my head. ⁶ I went down to the bottoms of the mountains; the earth with her bars was about me forever: Yet You have brought up my life from corruption, O LORD my God. ⁷ When my soul fainted within me I remembered the LORD: And my prayer came in to You, into Your holy temple. ⁸ Those that observe lying vanities forsake their own mercy.

¹ Moreover He spoke a parable to them leading to this end, that men always ought to pray, and not to faint;

³ You ask, and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may consume it upon your lusts.

¹¹ Behold, we count them happy who endure. You have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the ending of the Lord; that the Lord is very compassionate, and of tender mercy.

¹⁵ "Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? Yes, they may forget, yet I will not forget you.

⁹ Or what man is there among you, who if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone?

⁶ And you, son of man, do not be afraid of them, neither be afraid of their words, though briers and thorns are with you, and you dwell among scorpions: Do not be afraid of their words, nor be dismayed at their looks, though they are a rebellious house.

¹⁹ Behold, I give to you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: And nothing shall by any means hurt you.

¹⁰ And they had tails like scorpions, and there were stings in their tails: And their power was to hurt men five months.

⁵ And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. ⁶ And it repented the LORD that He had made man on the earth, and it grieved Him at His heart.

²¹ And the LORD smelled a sweet savor; and the LORD said in his heart, "I will not again curse the ground any more for man's sake; for the imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth; neither will I again smite any more every thing living, as I have done.

¹⁴ What is man, that he should be clean? And he which is born of a woman, that he should be righteous? ¹⁵ Behold, he puts no trust in his saints; yes, the heavens are not clean in his sight. ¹⁶ How much more abominable and filthy is man, which drinks iniquity like water?

⁵ Behold, I was shaped in iniquity; and in sin my mother conceived me.

²³ Turn at my reproof: Behold, I will pour out my spirit to you, I will make my words known to you.

³ For I will pour water on him who is thirsty, and floods on the dry ground: I will pour My Spirit on your descendants, and My blessing on your offspring: ⁴ And they shall spring up as among the grass, as willows by the water courses.

²⁷ And I will put My spirit within you, and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you shall keep My judgments, and do them.

²⁸ And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out My spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:

⁴⁵ that you may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: For He makes His sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.

¹⁴ For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:

³⁰ Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is cast into the oven, shall He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?

³² (For the Gentiles seek after all these things:) For your heavenly Father knows that you have need of all these things.

¹¹ If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him?

² And He said to them, "When you pray, say: Our Father which is in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done, as in heaven, so also on earth.

³⁰ But as soon as this son of yours came, who has devoured your estate with harlots, you killed the fatted calf for him.' ³¹ And he said to him, 'Son, you are always with me, and all that I have is yours. ³² It was proper that we should make merry, and be glad: For your brother was dead, and is alive again; and was lost, and is found.' "

⁵ Jesus answered, "Truly, truly, I say to you, Unless a man is born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. ⁶ That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

³⁷ On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, "If any man thirsts, let him come to Me, and drink. ³⁸ He who believes in Me, as the scripture has said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water." ³⁹ (But this He spoke about the Spirit, which those who believe in Him should receive: For the Holy Spirit was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)

³⁸ Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

⁹ Much more then, being now justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. ¹⁰ For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of His Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by His life.

¹⁷ For if by one man's offense death reigned by one; much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by One, Jesus Christ.)

¹⁸ For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh), dwells no good thing: For to intend is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I do not find.

³² He that did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not together with Him also freely give us all things?

⁹ For if the ministration of condemnation is glory, much more does the ministration of righteousness exceed in glory. ¹⁰ For even that which was made glorious had no glory in this respect, by reason of the glory that excels. ¹¹ For if that which is done away was glorious, much more that which remains is glorious.

³ For we ourselves were also sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving diverse lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.

⁹ Furthermore, we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: Should we not much rather be in subjection to the Father of spirits, and live? ¹⁰ For they indeed chastened us for a few days according to their own pleasure; but He for our profit, that we might be partakers of His holiness.

³² As they went out, behold, they brought to Him a mute man possessed with a devil. ³³ And when the devil was cast out, the mute spoke: And the multitudes marveled, saying, "It was never so seen in Israel." ³⁴ But the Pharisees said, "He casts out devils through the prince of the devils."

²² Then someone was brought to Him who was possessed with a devil, blind, and mute; and He healed him, so that the blind and mute both spoke and saw. ²³ And all the people were amazed, and said, "Is this not the Son of David?" ²⁴ But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, "This fellow does not cast out devils, except by Beelzebub the prince of the devils."

³² Then they brought to Him one who was deaf, and had an impediment in his speech; and they implored Him to put His hand upon him. ³³ And He took him aside from the multitude, and put His fingers into his ears, and He spat and touched his tongue; ³⁴ And looking up to heaven, He sighed, and said to him, "Ephphatha", that is, "Be opened." ³⁵ And immediately his ears were opened, and the muscle string of his tongue was loosed, and he spoke plainly. ³⁶ Then He charged them that they should tell no one: But the more He charged them, so much a great deal more they proclaimed it; ³⁷ and they were astonished beyond measure, saying, "He has done all things well: He makes both the deaf to hear, and the mute to speak."

³⁴ But the Pharisees said, "He casts out devils through the prince of the devils."

²⁵ It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more shall they call those of his household?

²⁴ But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, "This fellow does not cast out devils, except by Beelzebub the prince of the devils." ²⁵ And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said to them, "Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand: ²⁶ And if Satan casts out Satan, he is divided against himself; how then shall his kingdom stand? ²⁷ And if I cast out devils through Beelzebub, by whom do your children cast them out? Therefore they shall be your judges. ²⁸ But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God has come to you. ²⁹ Or else how can one enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except if he first binds the strong man? And then he shall spoil his house. ³⁰ He that is not with Me is against Me; and he that does not gather with Me scatters abroad.

²² And the scribes who came down from Jerusalem said, "He has Beelzebub", and "By the prince of the devils He casts out devils." ²³ Then He called them to Him, and said to them in parables: "How can Satan cast out Satan? ²⁴ And if a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. ²⁵ And if a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand. ²⁶ And if Satan rises up against himself, and is divided, he cannot stand, but has an end. ²⁷ No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, unless he first binds the strong man; and then he shall spoil his house. ²⁸ Truly I say to you, All sins shall be forgiven the sons of men, and whichever blasphemies they shall blaspheme: ²⁹ But he that blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation": ³⁰ Because they said, "He has an unclean spirit."

¹⁸ If Satan also is divided against himself, how shall his kingdom stand? Because you say that I cast out devils through Beelzebub. ¹⁹ And if I cast out devils through Beelzebub, by whom do your sons cast them out? Therefore they shall be your judges.

²⁰ The people answered and said, "You have a devil: Who goes about to kill You?"

⁴⁸ Then the Jews answered, and said to Him, "Do we not say full well that You are a Samaritan, and have a devil?"

⁵² Then the Jews said to Him, "Now we know that You have a devil. Abraham is dead, and the prophets; and You say, 'If anyone keeps My sayings, he shall never taste death.'

²⁰ And many of them said, "He has a devil, and is mad; why give audience to Him?"

³⁸ Then certain ones of the scribes and Pharisees answered, saying, "Master, we desire to see a sign from You." ³⁹ But He answered and said to them, "An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign; and there shall be no sign given to it, except the sign of the prophet Jonah:

¹ The Pharisees also with the Sadducees came, and tempting Him they asked that He would show them a sign from heaven. ² He answered and said to them, "When it is evening, you say, 'It will be fair weather: For the sky is red.' ³ And in the morning, 'It will be foul weather today: For the sky is red and dark.' O you hypocrites, you can discern the face of the sky; but can you not discern the signs of the times? ⁴ A wicked and adulterous generation seeks after a sign; and there shall be no sign given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonah." And He left them, and departed.

¹¹ And the Pharisees came forth, and began questioning with Him, seeking a sign from heaven of Him, tempting Him. ¹² Then He sighed deeply in His spirit, and said, "Why does this generation seek after a sign? Truly I say to you, There shall be no sign given to this generation."

³⁰ Therefore they said to Him, "What sign will You show then, that we may see, and believe You? What work will You do?

²² For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom:

¹⁶ And when all Israel saw that the king would not listen to them, the people answered the king, saying, "What portion have we in David? And we have none inheritance in the son of Jesse: Every man to your tents, O Israel: And now, David, see to your own house. So all Israel went to their tents. ¹⁷ But as for the children of Israel that dwelled in the cities of Judah, Rehoboam reigned over them. ¹⁸ Then king Rehoboam sent Hadoram that was over the tribute; and the children of Israel stoned him with stones, that he died. But king Rehoboam made speed to get him up to his chariot, to flee to Jerusalem. ¹⁹ And Israel rebelled against the house of David to this day.

¹⁶ And the children of Israel fled before Judah: And God delivered them into their hand. ¹⁷ And Abijah and his people slew them with a great slaughter: So there fell down slain of Israel five hundred thousand chosen men.

²⁰ And he shall snatch on the right hand side, and be hungry; and he shall eat on the left hand side, and they shall not be satisfied: Every man shall eat the flesh of his own arm: ²¹ Manasseh, Ephraim; and Ephraim, Manasseh: And they together shall be against Judah. For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is outstretched still.

² "And I will set the Egyptians against the Egyptians: And they shall fight everyone against his brother, and everyone against his neighbor; city against city, and kingdom against kingdom. ³ And the spirit of Egypt shall fail in the midst of her; and I will destroy her counsel: And they shall seek to consult the idols, and to consult the charmers, and to those that have familiar spirits, and to the wizards.

⁴ But Jesus knowing their thoughts said, "Why do you think evil in your hearts?

²⁵ And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said to them, "Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand: ²⁶ And if Satan casts out Satan, he is divided against himself; how then shall his kingdom stand? ²⁷ And if I cast out devils through Beelzebub, by whom do your children cast them out? Therefore they shall be your judges. ²⁸ But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God has come to you. ²⁹ Or else how can one enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except if he first binds the strong man? And then he shall spoil his house.

²³ Then He called them to Him, and said to them in parables: "How can Satan cast out Satan? ²⁴ And if a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. ²⁵ And if a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand. ²⁶ And if Satan rises up against himself, and is divided, he cannot stand, but has an end. ²⁷ No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, unless he first binds the strong man; and then he shall spoil his house.

²⁵ and did not need from man that any should testify: For He knew what was in man.

²³ And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am He which searches the inner reins and hearts: And I will give to every one of you according to your works.

¹⁰ Then Jesus said to Him, "Get away from here, Satan: For it is written, 'You shall worship the LORD your God, and Him only shall you serve.' "

²⁶ And if Satan casts out Satan, he is divided against himself; how then shall his kingdom stand?

³¹ Therefore I say to you, All forms of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven men: But the blasphemy against the Holy Spirit shall not be forgiven men. ³² And whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man, it shall be forgiven him: But whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, nor in the world to come. ³³ Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: For the tree is known by his fruit. ³⁴ O generation of vipers, how can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.

¹⁵ But some of them said, "He casts out devils through Beelzebub, the chief of the devils."

⁵ Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasts great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindles! ⁶ And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: Thus is the tongue among our members, that it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell. ⁷ For every kind of beast, and birds, serpents, and things in the sea are tamed, and have been tamed by mankind: ⁸ But no man can tame the tongue; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.

⁶ Your own mouth condemns you, and not I: Yes, your own lips testify against you.

²⁷ And if I cast out devils through Beelzebub, by whom do your children cast them out? Therefore they shall be your judges. ²⁸ But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God has come to you.

⁴¹ The men of Nineveh shall rise in judgment with this generation, and will condemn it: Because they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and behold, one greater than Jonah is here. ⁴² The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: For she came from the uttermost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and behold, one greater than Solomon is here.

⁴⁹ Moreover John answered and said, "Master, we saw someone casting out devils in Your name; and we forbade him, because he does not follow with us."

³¹ The queen of the South shall rise up in the judgment with the men of this generation, and condemn them: For she came from the utmost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and behold, one greater than Solomon is here. ³² The men of Nineveh shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: For they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and behold, one greater than Jonah is here.

²² And he said to him, 'Out of your own mouth I will judge you, you wicked servant. You knew that I was an austere man, taking up that which I did not lay down, and reaping what I did not sow:

¹⁹ Now we know that whatever things the law says, it says to those who are under the law: That every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.

¹⁹ Then the magicians said to Pharaoh, "This is the finger of God": And Pharaoh's heart was hardened, and he did not hearken to them; as the LORD had said.

²⁸ But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God has come to you.

⁹ And heal the sick that are there, and say to them, 'The kingdom of God has come near to you.'

¹¹ 'Even the very dust of your city, which sticks on us, we wipe off against you: Nevertheless be sure of this, that the kingdom of God has come near to you.'

²⁵ "And now behold, I know that you all, among whom I have gone preaching the kingdom of God, shall see my face no longer.

²³ And when they had appointed him a day, many came to him at his lodging; to whom he expounded and testified the kingdom of God, persuading them concerning Jesus, both out of the Law of Moses, and out of the prophets, from morning until evening. ²⁴ And some believed the things which were spoken, and some did not believe. ²⁵ Now when they did not agree among themselves, they departed, after that Paul spoke one word, "The Holy Spirit spoke rightly through Isaiah the prophet to our fathers, ²⁶ saying, 'Go to this people, and say, "Hearing you shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing you shall see, and not perceive: ²⁷ For the heart of this people is waxed over, and their ears are dull of hearing, and they have closed their eyes; lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them." ' ²⁸ "Therefore let it be known to you, that the salvation of God is sent to the Gentiles, and that they will hear it."

⁵ Which are a clearly apparent token of the righteous judgment of God, that you may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you also suffer:

²⁹ Or else how can one enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except if he first binds the strong man? And then he shall spoil his house.

²⁷ No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, unless he first binds the strong man; and then he shall spoil his house.

¹⁵ And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed; it shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel."

¹ In that day the LORD shall punish leviathan the piercing serpent with His severe and great and strong sword, even leviathan that crooked serpent; and He shall slay the dragon that is in the sea.

²⁴ Shall the prey be taken from the mighty, or the lawful captive delivered? ²⁵ But thus says the LORD, "Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away, and the prey of the terrible shall be delivered: For I will contend with him who contends with you, and I will save your children.

¹² Therefore I will divide to Him a portion with the great, and He shall divide the spoil with the strong; because He has poured out His soul to death: And He was numbered with the transgressors; and He bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.

¹ Who is this who comes from Edom, with dyed garments from Bozrah? This one who is glorious in His apparel, traveling in the greatness of His strength? "I who speak in righteousness, mighty to save." ² Why are you red in your apparel, and your garments like him who treads in the winefat? ³ "I have trodden the winepress alone; and from the people there was no one with me: For I will tread them in My anger, and trample them in My fury; and their blood shall be sprinkled on My garments, and I will stain all My clothing. ⁴ For the day of vengeance is in my heart, and the year of My redeemed has come.

¹⁵ and having spoiled principalities and powers, He made an exhibit of them openly, triumphing over them in it.

⁸ He that commits sin is of the devil; for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.

⁴ You are of God, little children, and have overcome them: Because greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world.

¹ And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a large chain in his hand. ² And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years, ³ and cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, until the thousand years are fulfilled: And after that he must be loosed for a little season.

³⁰ He that is not with Me is against Me; and he that does not gather with Me scatters abroad.

⁴⁰ For he who is not against us is on our side.

⁵⁰ But Jesus said to him, "Do not forbid him: For he that is not against us is for us."

¹⁵ "I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot: I wish you were cold or hot. ¹⁶ So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spew you out of My mouth.

³⁷ behold, I will put a fleece of wool in the floor; and if the dew be on the fleece only, and it be dry on all the earth beside, then shall I know that you will save Israel by my hand, as you have said. ³⁸ And it was so: For he rose up early on the next day, and thrust the fleece together, and wringed the dew out of the fleece, a bowl full of water. ³⁹ And Gideon said to God, "Let not your anger be hot against me, and I will speak but this once: Let me prove, I implore you, but this once with the fleece; let it now be dry only on the fleece, and on all the ground let there be dew. ⁴⁰ And God did so that night: For it was dry on the fleece only, and there was dew on all the ground.

⁷ And the LORD said to Satan, "From where come you? Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, "From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.

¹ A Psalm of David, when he was in the wilderness of Judah. O God, You are my God; early will I seek You: My soul thirsts for You, my flesh longs for You in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;

¹⁶ For they do not sleep, except if they have done mischief; and their sleep is taken away, unless they cause some to fall.

¹ The wilderness and the solitary place shall be glad for them; and the desert shall rejoice, and blossom as the rose. ² It shall blossom abundantly, and rejoice even with joy and singing: The glory of Lebanon shall be given to it, the excellency of Carmel and Sharon, they shall see the glory of the LORD, and the excellency of our God.

⁷ And the parched ground shall become a pool, and the thirsty land shall become springs of water: In the habitation of dragons, where each lay, shall be grass with reeds and rushes.

¹⁷ When the poor and needy seek water, and there is none, and their tongue fails for thirst, I the LORD will hear them, I the God of Israel will not forsake them. ¹⁸ I will open rivers in high places, and fountains in the middle of the valleys: I will make the wilderness a pool of water, and the dry land springs of water. ¹⁹ I will plant in the wilderness the cedar, the shittah tree, and the myrtle, and the oil tree; I will set in the desert the fir tree, and the pine, and the box tree together:

³ For I will pour water on him who is thirsty, and floods on the dry ground: I will pour My Spirit on your descendants, and My blessing on your offspring:

²² "There is no peace for the wicked.", said the LORD.

²⁰ But the wicked are like the troubled sea, when it cannot rest, whose waters cast up mire and dirt. ²¹ "There is no peace", said my God, "for the wicked."

⁸ Then he said to me, "These waters issue out toward the east country, and go down into the desert, and go into the sea: Which being brought forth into the sea, the waters shall be healed. ⁹ And it shall come to pass, that every thing which lives, and moves, wherever the rivers shall come, shall live: And there shall be a very great multitude of fish, because these waters shall come there: For they shall be healed; and every thing shall live where the river comes. ¹⁰ And it shall come to pass, that the fishers shall stand upon it from Engedi even to Eneglaim; they shall be a place to spread forth nets; their fish shall be according to their kinds, as the fish of the great sea, exceedingly many. ¹¹ But the miry places of it and its marshes shall not be healed; they shall be given to salt.

⁴³ When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walks through dry places seeking rest, and finds none. ⁴⁴ Then he says, 'I will return into my house from which I came out'; and when he has come, he finds it empty, swept, and garnished. ⁴⁵ Then he goes, and takes with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: And the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so it shall also be to this wicked generation."

¹⁰ And he implored Him greatly that He would not send them away out of the country.

²⁵ When Jesus saw that the people came running together, He rebuked the fowl spirit, saying to it: "You dumb and deaf spirit, I charge you, come out of him, and enter no more into him."

² in which you walked in time past according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now works in the children of disobedience:

⁸ Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about as a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour:

¹⁷ Now after the death of Jehoiada came the princes of Judah, and made obeisance to the king. Then the king listened to them. ¹⁸ And they left the house of the LORD God of their fathers, and served groves and idols: And wrath came on Judah and Jerusalem for this their trespass. ¹⁹ Yet he sent prophets to them, to bring them again to the LORD; and they testified against them: But they would not give ear. ²⁰ And the Spirit of God came on Zechariah the son of Jehoiada the priest, which stood above the people, and said to them, "Thus said God, Why transgress you the commandments of the LORD, that you cannot prosper? Because you have forsaken the LORD, he has also forsaken you. ²¹ And they conspired against him, and stoned him with stones at the commandment of the king in the court of the house of the LORD. ²² Thus Joash the king remembered not the kindness which Jehoiada his father had done to him, but slew his son. And when he died, he said, "The LORD look on it, and require it.

³ The words of his mouth are iniquity and deceit: He has forsaken to be wise, and to do good.

¹¹ But My people would not hearken to My voice; and Israel would have none of Me. ¹² So I gave them up to their own hearts' lust: And they walked in their own counsels.

⁵ As for such as turn aside to their crooked ways, the LORD shall lead them away with the workers of iniquity: But peace shall be upon Israel.

⁹ Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, ¹⁰ and with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in those that perish; because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. ¹¹ And for this reason God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: ¹² That they all might be damned who did not believe the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

¹⁰ But especially those that walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness, and despise government. They are presumptuous, self-willed, they are not afraid to speak evil of dignitaries. ¹¹ Whereas angels, which are greater in power and might, do not bring a railing accusation against them before the Lord. ¹² But these, as natural brute beasts, made to be taken and destroyed, speak evil of the things that they do not understand; and shall utterly perish in their own corruption; ¹³ and shall receive the reward of unrighteousness, as those who count it pleasure to riot in the daytime. They are spots and blemishes, sporting themselves with their own deceivings while they feast with you; ¹⁴ having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: They have a heart exercised with covetous practices; cursed children: ¹⁵ Who have forsaken the right way, and have gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Beor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness; ¹⁶ but was rebuked for his iniquity: The mute donkey speaking with a man's voice hindered the madness of the prophet. ¹⁷ These are wells without water, clouds that are carried with a tempest; to whom the mist of darkness is reserved forever. ¹⁸ For when they speak great swelling words of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through much wantonness, those that had truly escaped from those who live in error. ¹⁹ While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: For by whom a man is overcome, by the same he is brought into bondage.

⁸ Likewise also these filthy dreamers defile the flesh, despise government, and speak evil of dignitaries. ⁹ Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, dared not bring a railing accusation against him, but said, "The Lord rebuke you." ¹⁰ But these speak evil of those things which they do not know: But what they know naturally, as brute beasts, in those things they corrupt themselves. ¹¹ Woe to them! For they have gone in the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the contrariety of Korah. ¹² These are spots in your feasts of love, when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear: They are clouds without water, carried about by winds; trees whose fruit withers, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots; ¹³ raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, for whom is reserved the blackness of darkness forever.

⁶ and those that are turned back from the LORD; and those that have not sought the LORD, nor inquired for Him."

⁴⁵ Then he goes, and takes with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: And the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so it shall also be to this wicked generation."

¹⁵ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, you make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves.

¹⁴ Afterward Jesus found him in the temple, and said to him, "Behold, you are made whole: Sin no more, lest a worse thing come to you."

⁴ For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Spirit, ⁵ and have tasted the good Word of God, and the powers of the world to come, ⁶ if they shall fall away, to renew them again to repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put Him to an open shame. ⁷ For the earth which drinks in the rain that often comes upon it, and brings forth herbs fit for those by whom they are cultivated, receives blessing from God: ⁸ But that which bears thorns and briers is rejected, and is near to being cursed; whose end is to be burned.

²⁶ For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remains no more sacrifice for sins, ²⁷ but a certain fearful expectation of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. ²⁸ He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses: ²⁹ Of how much worse punishment, do you suppose, shall he be thought worthy, who has tread underfoot the Son of God, and has counted the blood of the covenant, with which he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and has extreme malice toward the Spirit of grace? ³⁰ For we know Him that has said, "Vengeance belongs to Me, I will recompense", says the Lord. And again, "The Lord shall judge His people." ³¹ It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

²⁰ For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them, and overcome, the latter end is worse for them than the beginning. ²¹ For it would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than after having known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered to them. ²² But it has happened to them according to the true proverb, "The dog returned to his own vomit again"; and, "the hog that was washed to her wallowing in the mire."

¹⁶ If any man sees his brother sin a sin which is not to death, he shall ask, and He shall give him life for those that sin not to death. There is a sin leading to death: I do not say that he should pray for it.

²⁸ And the angel came in to her, and said, "Be glad, you who are highly favored, the Lord is with you: Blessed are you among women."

⁴² And she spoke out with a loud voice, and said, "Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb.

⁴⁸ For He has regarded the lowly state of His handmaiden: For behold, from this time forward all generations shall call me blessed.

²⁹ For behold, the days are coming in which they shall say, 'Blessed are the barren, and the wombs that never bore, and the nipples which never nourished from the breast.'

¹ Blessed is the man that does not walk in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stand in the way of sinners, nor sit in the seat of the scornful.ungodly; or, wicked ² But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in His law he meditates day and night. ³ And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season; its leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper.

¹ Praise the LORD. Blessed is the man that fears the LORD, that delights greatly in His commandments.

¹ ALEPH: Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the LORD. ² Blessed are those who keep His testimonies, and that seek Him with the whole heart. ³ They also do no iniquity: They walk in His ways. ⁴ You have commanded us to keep Your precepts diligently. ⁵ O that my ways were directed to keep Your statutes! ⁶ Then I shall not be ashamed, when I have respect to all Your commandments.

¹ A Song of degrees. Blessed is everyone who fears the LORD, who walks in His ways.

¹⁷ Thus says the LORD, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; I am the LORD your God who teaches you to profit, who leads you by the way that you should go. ¹⁸ O that you had listened to My commandments! Then had your peace been as a river, and your righteousness as the waves of the sea:

²¹ Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord', shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he who does the will of My Father which is in heaven. ²² Many will say to Me in that day, 'Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name? And in Your name have cast out devils? And in Your name done many wonderful works?' ²³ And then I will profess to them, 'I never knew you: Depart from me, you that work iniquity.' ²⁴ Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man, who built his house upon a rock: ²⁵ And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it did not fall: For it was founded upon a rock.

⁴⁸ But He answered and said to him who told Him, "Who is My mother? And who are My brothers? ⁴⁹ And He stretched forth His hand toward His disciples, and said, "Behold My mother and My brothers! ⁵⁰ For whoever does the will of My Father which is in heaven, the same is My brother, and sister, and mother."

⁴⁷ Whoever comes to Me, and hears My sayings, and does them, I will show you whom he is like: ⁴⁸ He is like a man who built a house, who dug deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: And when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: For it was founded upon a rock.

²¹ And He answered and said to them, "My mother and My brethren are these which hear the Word of God, and do it."

¹⁷ If you know these things, happy are you if you do them.

²¹ Therefore lay aside all filthiness and superabundance of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls. ²² But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. ²³ For if anyone is a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like a man beholding his natural face in a mirror: ²⁴ For he beholds himself, and goes his way, and immediately forgets what sort of man he was. ²⁵ But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty, and continues in it, he not being a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.

²¹ Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, then we have confidence toward God. ²² And whatever we ask, we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in His sight. ²³ And this is His commandment: That we should believe upon the name of His Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as He gave us commandment. ²⁴ And he that keeps His commandments dwells in Him, and He in him. And by this we know that He abides in us, by the Spirit which He has given us.

¹⁴ Blessed are those that do His commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

³ But draw near here, you sons of the sorceress, the seed of the adulterer and the whore. ⁴ Against whom do you yourselves mock? Against whom do you make a wide mouth, and draw out the tongue? Are you not children of transgression, a seed of falsehood,

⁷ But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to his baptism, he said to them, "O generation of vipers, who has warned you to flee from the wrath to come?

³⁸ Then certain ones of the scribes and Pharisees answered, saying, "Master, we desire to see a sign from You." ³⁹ But He answered and said to them, "An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign; and there shall be no sign given to it, except the sign of the prophet Jonah: ⁴⁰ For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

³⁴ Therefore, behold, I send to you prophets, wise men, and scribes: And some of them you shall kill and crucify; and some of them you shall scourge in your synagogues, and persecute them from city to city: ³⁵ That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias, whom you slew between the temple and the altar. ³⁶ Truly I say to you, All these things shall come upon this generation.

³⁸ For whoever therefore shall be ashamed of Me and of My words in this adulterous and sinful generation; the Son of Man shall also be ashamed of him, when He comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels."

⁴¹ And Jesus answering said, "O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you, and bear with you? Bring your son here."

¹⁶ And others, tempting Him, sought from Him a sign from heaven.

⁵⁰ That the blood of all the prophets, which was shed from the foundation of the world, may be required of this generation;

¹ In the meantime, when there was an innumerable multitude of people gathered together, so that they trod upon one another, He began to say first of all to His disciples, "Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.

²⁵ And large multitudes went with Him: And He turned, and said to them, ²⁶ "If anyone comes to Me, and does not hate his father, mother, wife, children, brethren, and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he cannot be My disciple.

¹⁸ Then the Jews answered and said to Him, "What sign do You show to us, seeing that You do these things?"

⁴⁴ You are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father you will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and did not abide in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks of his own: For he is a liar, and the father of it.

⁵¹ "You stiff necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, you always resist the Holy Spirit: As your fathers did, so you do. ⁵² Which of the prophets have not your fathers persecuted? And they have slain those which foretold of the coming of the Just One; of whom you now have been the betrayers and murderers:

¹⁷ Now the LORD had prepared a great fish to swallow up Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights.

¹⁰ And the LORD spoke to the fish, and it vomited out Jonah upon the dry land.

² "Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and preach to it the preaching that I bid you." ³ So Jonah arose, and went to Nineveh, according to the word of the LORD. Now Nineveh was an exceedingly large city of three days' journey across. ⁴ And Jonah began to enter into the city one day's journey, and he cried out, and said, "Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown." ⁵ So the people of Nineveh believed God, and proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest of them even to the least of them. ⁶ For word came to the king of Nineveh, and he arose from his throne, and he set apart his robe from him, and covered himself with sackcloth, and sat in ashes. ⁷ And he caused it to be proclaimed and published throughout Nineveh by the decree of the king and his nobles, saying, "Let neither man nor beast, herd nor flock, taste anything: Let them not feed, nor drink water: ⁸ But let man and beast be covered with sackcloth, and cry mightily to God: Yes, let everyone turn from his evil way, and from the violence that is in their hands. ⁹ Who can tell if God will turn and repent, and turn away from His fierce anger, that we do not perish?" ¹⁰ And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that He had said that He would do to them; and He did not do it.

⁴⁶ and He said to them, "Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: ⁴⁷ And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

¹ And when the queen of Sheba heard of the fame of Solomon concerning the name of the LORD, she came to prove him with hard questions. ² And she came to Jerusalem with a very great train, with camels that bore spices, and very much gold, and precious stones: And when she had come to Solomon, she communed with him of all that was in her heart. ³ And Solomon told her all her questions: There was not anything hid from the king, which he told her not. ⁴ And when the queen of Sheba had seen all Solomon's wisdom, and the house that he had built, ⁵ and the meat of his table, and the sitting of his servants, and the attendance of his ministers, and their apparel, and his cupbearers, and his ascent by which he went up to the house of the LORD; there was no more spirit in her. ⁶ And she said to the king, It was a true report that I heard in my own land of your acts and of your wisdom. ⁷ However, I believed not the words, until I came, and my eyes had seen it: And behold, the half was not told me: Your wisdom and prosperity exceeds the fame which I heard. ⁸ Happy are your men, happy are these your servants, which stand continually before you, and that hear your wisdom. ⁹ Blessed be the LORD your God, which delighted in you, to set you on the throne of Israel: Because the LORD loved Israel forever, therefore made he you king, to do judgment and justice. ¹⁰ And she gave the king a hundred and twenty talents of gold, and of spices very great store, and precious stones: There came no more such abundance of spices as these which the queen of Sheba gave to king Solomon. ¹¹ And the navy also of Hiram, that brought gold from Ophir, brought in from Ophir great plenty of almug trees, and precious stones. ¹² And the king made of the almug trees pillars for the house of the LORD, and for the king's house, harps also and psalteries for singers: There came no such almug trees, nor were seen to this day. ¹³ And king Solomon gave to the queen of Sheba all her desire, whatever she asked, beside that which Solomon gave her of his royal bounty. So she turned and went to her own country, she and her servants.

¹ And when the queen of Sheba heard of the fame of Solomon, she came to prove Solomon with hard questions at Jerusalem, with a very great company, and camels that bore spices, and gold in abundance, and precious stones: And when she had come to Solomon, she communed with him of all that was in her heart.

⁶ For to us a Child is born, to us a Son is given: And the government shall be upon His shoulder: And His name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. ⁷ Of the increase of His government and peace there shall be no end, on the throne of David, and on His kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from now on even forever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.

¹⁷ No weapon that is formed against you shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against you in judgment you shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is from Me", said the LORD.

¹¹ And the LORD said to me, "The backsliding Israel has justified herself more than treacherous Judah.

⁴² The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: For she came from the uttermost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and behold, one greater than Solomon is here.

²² and the Holy Spirit descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon Him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, "You are My beloved Son; in You I am well pleased."

³⁵ And there came a voice out of the cloud, saying, "This is My beloved Son: Hear Him."

²⁷ And shall not uncircumcision which is by nature, if it fulfills the law, judge you, who by the letter and circumcision do transgress the law?

¹⁵ Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: ¹⁶ For all things were created by Him that are in heaven, and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether they are thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: All things were created by Him, and for Him: ¹⁷ And He is before all things, and by Him all things consist. ¹⁸ And He is the head of the body, the church: Who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things He might have the preeminence. ¹⁹ For it pleased the Father that in Him should all fullness dwell;

⁷ By faith Noah, being warned by God of things not yet seen, moved with fear, prepared an ark for the saving of his house; by which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.

² "Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry out against it; for their wickedness has come up before me." ³ But Jonah rose up to flee to Tarshish from the presence of the LORD, and went down to Joppa; and he found a ship going to Tarshish: So he paid its fare, and went down into it, to go with them to Tarshish from the presence of the LORD.

⁵ So the people of Nineveh believed God, and proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest of them even to the least of them.

⁹ And God said to Jonah, "Do you do well to be angry on account of the gourd?" And he said, "I do well to be angry, even to death."

²⁶ For such a High Priest suited us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens;

¹⁵ Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel basket, but on a candlestick; and it gives light to all who are in the house. ¹⁶ Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

²⁷ What I tell you in darkness, that speak in light: And what you hear in the ear, that preach upon the housetops.

²¹ And He said to them, "Is a candle brought to be put under a bushel, or under a bed? Is it not to be set on a candlestick? ²² For there is nothing hid, which shall not be manifested; neither was anything kept secret, but that it should come abroad.

¹⁶ No man, when he has lit a candle, covers it with a vessel, or puts it under a bed; but sets it on a candlestick, that those which enter in may see the light. ¹⁷ For nothing is secret, that shall not be made manifest; neither anything hid, that shall not be known and come abroad.

⁹ Jesus answered, "Are there not twelve hours in the day? If anyone walks in the day, he does not stumble, because he sees the light of this world.

⁴⁶ I have come as a light into the world, that whoever believes upon Me should not abide in darkness.

¹⁵ That you may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom you shine as lights in the world; ¹⁶ holding forth the Word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, nor labored in vain.

¹¹ And they smote the men that were at the door of the house with blindness, both small and great: So that they wearied themselves to find the door.

¹⁵ And when the servant of the man of God was risen early, and gone forth, behold, a host compassed the city both with horses and chariots. And his servants said to him, "Alas, my master! How shall we do? ¹⁶ And he answered, Fear not: For those that be with us are more than those that be with them. ¹⁷ And Elisha prayed, and said, "LORD, I implore you, open his eyes, that he may see. And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: And behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha. ¹⁸ And when they came down to him, Elisha prayed to the LORD, and said, "Smite this people, I implore you, with blindness. And he smote them with blindness according to the word of Elisha. ¹⁹ And Elisha said to them, "This is not the way, neither is this the city: Follow me, and I will bring you to the man whom you seek. But he led them to Samaria. ²⁰ And it came to pass, when they had come into Samaria, that Elisha said, "LORD, open the eyes of these men, that they may see. And the LORD opened their eyes, and they saw; and behold, they were in the middle of Samaria.

¹² So I gave them up to their own hearts' lust: And they walked in their own counsels.

¹⁸ You open my eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of Your law.

²² He that hastens to be rich has an evil eye, and does not consider that poverty shall come upon him.

¹⁰ Make the heart of this people dull, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and convert, and be healed."

¹⁰ For the LORD has poured out on you the spirit of deep sleep, and has closed your eyes: He has covered the prophets, your rulers, and the seers.

¹⁹ Who is blind, but My servant? Or deaf, as My messenger that I sent? Who is blind as he who is perfect, and blind as the LORD's servant?

¹⁸ They have not known nor understood: For He has shut their eyes, that they cannot see; and their hearts, that they cannot understand.

²¹ 'Hear now this, O foolish people, and without understanding; who have eyes, and do not see; who have ears, and do not hear:

²² The light of the body is the eye: If therefore your eye is single, your whole body shall be full of light. ²³ But if your eye is evil, your whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is that darkness!

¹² That 'Seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand; lest at any time they should be converted, and their sins should be forgiven them.' "

²² thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness:

¹⁸ Having eyes, do you not see? And having ears, do you not hear? And do you not remember?

⁴⁶ And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, ate their food with gladness and singleness of heart,

¹¹ And now behold, the hand of the Lord is upon you, and you shall be blind, not seeing the sun for a season." And immediately there fell upon him a mist and a darkness; and he went around seeking someone to lead him by the hand.

¹⁸ to open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith that is in Me.'

⁸ (Even as it is written, "God has given them the spirit of slumber, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear); to this day." ⁹ And David says, "Let their table be made a snare, and a trap, and a stumbling-block, and a recompense to them: ¹⁰ Let their eyes be darkened, that they may not see, and bow down their back always."

¹² For our rejoicing is this, the testimony of our conscience, that in simplicity and godly sincerity, not with fleshly wisdom, but by the grace of God, we have had our conversation in the world, and more abundantly toward you.

⁴ In whom the god of this world has blinded the minds of those who do not believe, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them.

³ But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent deceived Eve through his cunning subtilty, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.

¹⁷ that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him:

⁵ Servants, be obedient to those that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as to Christ;

²² Servants, obey your masters in all things according to the flesh; not with eye-service, as men-pleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God:

²⁵ There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end are the ways of death.

¹² See a man wise in his own conceit? There is more hope for a fool than for him.

²⁰ Woe to those that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! ²¹ Woe to those that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!

⁸ How do you say, 'We are wise, and the law of the LORD is with us?' See, certainly in vain he made it; the pen of the scribes is in vain. ⁹ The wise men are ashamed, they are dismayed and taken: Lo, they have rejected the word of the LORD; and what wisdom is in them?

⁴⁸ Have any of the rulers or the Pharisees believed on Him? ⁴⁹ But this people who does not know the law are cursed."

³⁹ And Jesus said, "For judgment I have come into this world, that those which do not see might see; and that those which see might be made blind." ⁴⁰ Then some of the Pharisees who were with Him heard these words, and said to Him, "Are we blind also?" ⁴¹ Jesus said to them, "If you were blind, you should have no sin: But now you say, 'We see'; therefore your sin remains."

²² Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,

¹⁹ and are confident that you yourself are a guide to the blind, a light to those who are in darkness, ²⁰ an instructor of the foolish, a teacher of babes, which have the form of knowledge and of the truth in the law. ²¹ You therefore which teaches another, do you not teach yourself? You that preach a man should not steal, do you steal? ²² You who say, "A man should not commit adultery", do you commit adultery? You who abhor idols, do you commit sacrilege? ²³ You who make your boast in the law, do you dishonor God through breaking the law?

¹⁹ For it is written, "I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent." ²⁰ Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the disputer of this world? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? ²¹ For since in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom did not know God, it pleased God through the foolishness of preaching to save those that believe.

¹⁸ Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seems to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise. ¹⁹ For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, "He catches the wise in their own craftiness." ²⁰ And again, "The LORD knows the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain."

¹³ Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? Let him show out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom. ¹⁴ But if you have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, do not boast, and do not lie against the truth. ¹⁵ This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish. ¹⁶ For where envying and strife are, there is confusion and every evil work. ¹⁷ But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be entreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.

⁹ But he that lacks these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and has forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.

¹⁸ For when they speak great swelling words of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through much wantonness, those that had truly escaped from those who live in error.

¹⁷ Because you say, 'I am rich, and am increased with goods, and have need of nothing'; but do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked:

⁹⁷ MEM: O how I love Your law! It is my meditation all the day long. ⁹⁸ Through Your commandments You have made me wiser than my enemies: For they are ever with me. ⁹⁹ I have more understanding than all my teachers: For Your testimonies are my meditation. ¹⁰⁰ I understand more than the ancients, because I keep Your precepts. ¹⁰¹ I have refrained my feet from every evil way, that I might keep Your word. ¹⁰² I have not departed from Your ordinances: For You have taught me. ¹⁰³ How sweet are Your words to my taste! Yes, sweeter than honey to my mouth! ¹⁰⁴ Through Your precepts I get understanding: Therefore I hate every false way. ¹⁰⁵ NUN: Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light to my path.

⁵ A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain to wise counsels:

¹ My son, if you will receive my words, and hide my commandments with you; ² so that you incline your ear to wisdom, and apply your heart to understanding; ³ yes, if you cry out after knowledge, and lift up your voice for understanding; ⁴ if you seek her as silver, and search for her as for hidden treasures; ⁵ then you shall understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God. ⁶ For the LORD gives wisdom: Out of His mouth comes knowledge and understanding. ⁷ He lays up sound wisdom for the righteous: He is a buckler shield to those that walk uprightly. ⁸ He keeps the paths of judgment, and preserves the way of His saints. ⁹ Then you shall understand righteousness, and judgment, and equity; yes, every good path. ¹⁰ When wisdom enters into your heart, and knowledge is pleasant to your soul; ¹¹ discretion shall preserve you, understanding shall keep you:

¹⁸ But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shines more and more to the perfect day. ¹⁹ The way of the wicked is as darkness: They know not at what they stumble.

²³ For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life:

²⁷ The spirit of man is the candle of the LORD, searching all the inward parts of the belly.

²⁰ To the law and to the testimony: If they do not speak according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.

¹⁶ And I will bring the blind by a way that they did not know; I will lead them in paths that they have not known: I will make darkness become light before them, and crooked things straight. I will do these things to them, and not forsake them.

³ Then we shall know, if we follow on pursuing to know the LORD: His going forth is prepared like the morning; and He shall come to us as the rain, as the latter and former rain to the earth.

¹¹ He answered and said to them, "Because it is given to you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given. ¹² For whoever has, to him more shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: But whoever does not have, even what he has shall be taken away from him.

⁵² Then He said to them, "Therefore every scribe which is instructed concerning the kingdom of heaven is like a man who is a householder, who brings forth out of his treasure things new and old."

²⁴ And He said to them, "Take heed what you hear: With the same measure you use, it shall be measured to you: And to you who hear, more shall be given. ²⁵ For he that has, to him more shall be given: And he that does not have, from him shall be taken even that which he has."

⁶ For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, has shone in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

¹⁴ That from this time forward we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the artful tricks of men, and cunning craftiness, by which they lie in wait to deceive;

¹⁶ Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

¹⁵ and that from childhood you have known the Holy scriptures, which are able to make you wise to salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. ¹⁶ All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: ¹⁷ That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished for all good works.

¹⁴ But solid food belongs to those that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

²⁵ But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty, and continues in it, he not being a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.

¹⁸ But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be glory both now and forever. Amen.

³⁶ Moreover one of the Pharisees desired that He would eat with him. And He went into the Pharisee's house, and sat down to eat.

¹ And it came to pass, as He went into the house of one of the chief Pharisees to eat bread on the Sabbath day, that they watched Him.

¹⁹ For though I am free from all men, yet I have made myself servant to all, that I might gain all the more. ²⁰ And to the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews; to those that are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain those that are under the law; ²¹ to those that are without law, as without law (not being without law to God, but under the law to Christ), that I might gain those that are without law. ²² To the weak I became as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some. ²³ Now this I do for the gospel's sake, that I might be a partaker of it with you.

² "Why do Your disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? For they do not wash their hands when they eat bread." ³ And He answered and said to them, "Why do you also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition?

² And when they saw some of His disciples eat bread with defiled, that is to say, with unwashed hands, they found fault. ³ For the Pharisees and all the Jews do not eat unless they wash their hands often, holding the tradition of the elders. ⁴ And when they come from the market, they do not eat unless they wash. And there are many other things which they have received to keep, like the washing of cups, pots, brazen vessels, and of tables. ⁵ Then the Pharisees and scribes asked Him, "Why do Your disciples not walk according to the tradition of the elders, but eat bread with unwashed hands?"

²⁵ Then there arose a question between some of John's disciples and the Jews about purifying.

⁵ And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

² And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, but not with a perfect heart.

²⁰ And thus did Hezekiah throughout all Judah, and worked that which was good and right and truth before the LORD his God. ²¹ And in every work that he began in the service of the house of God, and in the law, and in the commandments, to seek his God, he did it with all his heart, and prospered.

¹³ They gaped upon Me with their mouths, as a ravening and a roaring lion.

²⁵ when he speaks in a pleasing manner, do not believe him: For there are seven abominations in his heart.

¹² There is a generation that are pure in their own eyes, and yet are not washed from their filthiness.

¹⁴ O Jerusalem, wash your heart from wickedness, that you may be saved. How long shall your vain thoughts lodge within you?

²⁵ There is a conspiracy of her prophets in the midst of her, like a roaring lion ravening the prey; they have devoured souls; they have taken the treasure and precious things; they have made her many widows in the midst of her.

²⁷ Her princes in the middle of her are like wolves ravening the prey, to shed blood, and to destroy souls, to get dishonest gain.

³ Her princes within her are roaring lions; her judges are evening wolves; they do not gnaw the bones until the next day.

¹⁵ Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves.

³³ Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: For the tree is known by his fruit. ³⁴ O generation of vipers, how can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. ³⁵ A good man out of the good treasure of the heart brings forth good things: And an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things.

¹⁹ For out of the heart proceeds evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:

²⁵ "Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you clean the outside of the cup and the platter, but inside they are full of extortion and excess. ²⁶ You blind Pharisee, first cleanse that which is inside the cup and platter, that the outside of them may be clean also.

¹³ And when the Lord saw her, He had compassion on her, and said to her, "Do not weep."

¹⁵ And He said to them, "You are those who justify yourselves before men; but God knows your hearts: For that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God.

⁶ This he said, not that he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and had the money bag, and carried what was put in it.

² And supper being ended, the devil having now put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, to betray Him;

³ But Peter said, "Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit, and to keep back part of the price of the land?

²¹ You have neither part nor portion in this matter: For your heart is not right in the sight of God. ²² Therefore repent of this, your wickedness, and beseech God if perhaps the thought of your heart may be forgiven you. ²³ For I perceive that you are in the gall of bitterness, and in the bond of iniquity."

¹⁴ And I profited in the Jews' religion beyond many of my equals in my own nation, being more exceedingly zealous for the traditions of my fathers.

⁵ having a form of godliness, but denying the power of it: From such turn away.

¹⁵ To the pure all things are pure: But to those that are defiled and unbelieving nothing is pure; but even their mind and conscience are defiled.

⁸ Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

²⁶ And God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, after Our likeness: And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the domestic beasts, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth."

⁷ And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

²² And they fell upon their faces, and said, "O God, the God of the spirits of all flesh, shall one man sin, and will you be wroth with all the congregation?

¹ To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. The fool has said in his heart, "There is no God." They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that does good.

¹⁵ He fashions their hearts alike; He considers all their works.

⁴ I said to the fools, Deal not foolishly: And to the wicked, Lift not up the horn: ⁵ Lift not up your horn on high: Speak not with a stiff neck.

⁸ Understand, you brutish among the people: And you fools, when will you be wise? ⁹ He that planted the ear, shall He not hear? He that formed the eye, shall He not see?

²² "How long, you simple ones, will you love simplicity? And the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge?

⁵ O you simple, understand wisdom: And, you fools, be of an understanding heart.

¹ The burden of the word of the LORD for Israel, says the LORD, which stretches forth the heavens, and lays the foundation of the earth, and forms the spirit of man within him.

¹⁷ You fools and blind: For which is greater, the gold, or the temple that sanctifies the gold?

²⁶ You blind Pharisee, first cleanse that which is inside the cup and platter, that the outside of them may be clean also.

²⁰ But God said to him, 'You fool, this night your soul shall be required of you: Then whose shall those things be, which you have provided?'

²⁵ Then He said to them, "O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken:

³⁶ You fool, that which you sow is not made alive, unless it dies:

⁹ Furthermore, we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: Should we not much rather be in subjection to the Father of spirits, and live?

⁸ But you shall open your hand wide to him, and shall surely lend him sufficient for his need, in that which he wants. ⁹ Beware that there be not a thought in your wicked heart, saying, "The seventh year, the year of release, is at hand; and your eye be evil against your poor brother, and you give him nothing; and he cry to the LORD against you, and it be sin to you. ¹⁰ You shall surely give him, and your heart shall not be grieved when you give to him: Because that for this thing the LORD your God shall bless you in all your works, and in all that you put your hand to.

¹⁶ He also shall be my salvation: For a hypocrite shall not come before him. ¹⁷ Hear diligently my speech, and my declaration with your ears. ¹⁸ Behold now, I have ordered my cause; I know that I shall be justified. ¹⁹ Who is he that will plead with me? For now, if I hold my tongue, I shall give up the ghost. ²⁰ Only do not two things to me: Then will I not hide myself from you.

¹ To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. Blessed is he that considers the poor: The LORD will deliver him in time of trouble.

⁹ He has dispersed, he has given to the poor; his righteousness endures forever; his horn shall be exalted with honor.

³¹ He that oppresses the poor reproaches his Maker: But he that honors Him has mercy on the poor.

¹⁷ He that has pity upon the poor lends to the LORD; and that which he has given He will repay him again.

¹ Cast your bread upon the waters: For you shall find it after many days. ² Give a portion to seven, and also to eight; for you do not know what evil shall be on the earth.

⁷ Is it not to deal your bread to the hungry, and that you bring the poor that are cast out to your house? When you see the naked, that you cover him; and that you do not hide yourself from your own flesh? ⁸ Then your light shall break forth like the morning, and your health shall spring forth speedily: And your righteousness shall go before you; the glory of the LORD shall be your rear-guard. ⁹ Then you shall call, and the LORD shall answer; you shall cry, and He shall say, 'Here I am.' If you take away the yoke from the midst of you, the putting forth of the finger, and speaking vanity; ¹⁰ and if you draw out your soul to the hungry, and satisfy the afflicted soul; then your light shall rise in obscurity, and your darkness be like the noon day: ¹¹ And the LORD shall guide you continually, and satisfy your soul in drought, and make your bones fat: And you shall be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not.

²⁷ Therefore, O king, let my counsel be acceptable to you, and break off your sins by righteousness, and your iniquities by showing mercy to the poor; if it may be a lengthening of your tranquility."

⁴² Give to him that asks you, and from him that would desire to borrow from you do not turn away.

¹ "Take heed that you do not do your charitable deeds in front of men, to be seen by them: Otherwise you have no reward from your Father which is in heaven. ² Therefore, when you do your charitable deeds, do not sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory from men. Truly I say to you, They have their reward. ³ But when you do charitable deeds, do not let your left hand know what your right hand does: ⁴ That your charitable deeds may be in secret: And your Father which sees in secret shall Himself reward you openly.

³⁴ Then the King shall say to those on His right hand, 'Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: ³⁵ For I was hungry, and you gave Me food: I was thirsty, and you gave Me drink: I was a stranger, and you took Me in: ³⁶ Naked, and you clothed Me: I was sick, and you visited Me: I was in prison, and you came to Me.' ³⁷ Then the righteous shall answer Him, saying, 'Lord, when did we see You hungry, and feed You? Or thirsty, and gave You a drink?' ³⁸ When did we see You a stranger, and take You in? Or naked, and clothe You? ³⁹ Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and came to You?' ⁴⁰ And the King shall answer and say to them, 'Truly I say to you, Inasmuch as you have done it to one of the least of these My brethren, you have done it to Me.'

¹¹ For you always have the poor with you; but Me you do not have always.

³³ Sell what you have, and give alms; provide yourselves bags which do not wax old, a treasure in the heavens that does not fail, where no thief approaches, neither moth corrupts.

¹² Then He also said to him who invited Him, "When you make a dinner or a supper, do not call your friends, nor your brothers, neither your kinsmen, nor your rich neighbors; lest they also invite you back again, and a recompense is made to you. ¹³ But when you make a feast, call the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind: ¹⁴ And you shall be blessed; for they cannot recompense you: For you shall be recompensed at the resurrection of the just."

⁹ And I say to you, Make for yourselves friends of the mammon of unrighteousness; that when you fail, they may receive you into everlasting habitations.

²² Now when Jesus heard these things, He said to him, "You still lack one thing: Sell all that you have, and distribute to the poor, and you shall have treasure in heaven: And come, follow Me."

⁸ Now Zacchaeus stood, and said to the Lord; "Behold, Lord, I give half of my goods to the poor; and if I have taken anything from anyone by false accusation, I restore him fourfold."

³⁶ Now at Joppa there was a certain disciple named Tabitha, which by interpretation is translated Dorcas: This woman was full of good works and charitable deeds, which she did. ³⁷ And it came to pass in those days, that she was sick, and died: Whom when they had washed, they laid her in an upper chamber. ³⁸ And in as much as Lydda was near to Joppa, and the disciples had heard that Peter was there, they sent two men to him, desiring that he would not delay to come to them. ³⁹ Then Peter arose and went with them. When he had come, they brought him into the upper chamber: And all the widows stood by him weeping, showing the coats and garments which Dorcas made, while she was with them.

¹⁵ And the voice spoke to him again the second time, "What God has cleansed, do not call that common."

³¹ and said, 'Cornelius, your prayer is heard, and your charitable alms are in remembrance in the sight of God. ³² Therefore send to Joppa, and call Simon to this place, whose surname is Peter; he is lodged in the house of one Simon a tanner by the sea side: Who, when he comes, shall speak to you.'

²⁹ Then the disciples, every man according to his ability, determined to send relief to the brethren who dwelt in Judea:

¹⁷ "Now after many years I came to bring charitable alms to my nation, and offerings.

¹⁴ I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that there is nothing unclean of itself: But to him that esteems anything to be unclean, to him it is unclean. ¹⁵ But if your brother is grieved with your food, now you do not walk in love. Do not destroy him with your food, for whom Christ died. ¹⁶ Do not then let your good be spoken evil of: ¹⁷ For the kingdom of God is not food and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit. ¹⁸ For he that serves Christ in these things is acceptable to God, and approved by men.

⁷ Therefore, as you abound in everything, in faith, and utterance, and knowledge, and in all diligence, and in your love to us, see that you abound in this grace also. ⁸ I speak not by commandment, but by occasion of the confidence of others, and to prove the sincerity of your love. ⁹ For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that through His poverty you might be rich.

¹² For if there is first a willing mind, it is accepted according to what a man has, and not according to what he does not have.

⁶ But this I say, he which sows sparingly shall also reap sparingly; and he which sows bountifully shall also reap bountifully. ⁷ Let every man give according to as he purposes in his heart; not grudgingly, nor of necessity: For God loves a cheerful giver. ⁸ And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work: ⁹ (As it is written, "He has dispersed abroad; he has given to the poor: His righteousness remains forever." ¹⁰ Now He that ministers seed to the sower also ministers bread for your food, and multiplies your seed sown, and increases the fruits of your righteousness); ¹¹ being enriched in everything to all bountifulness, which causes thanksgiving to God through us. ¹² For the administration of this service not only supplies the lack of the saints, but also is abundant through many thanksgivings to God; ¹³ While through the proof of this ministration they glorify God for your professed subjection to the gospel of Christ, and for your liberal distribution to them, and to all men; ¹⁴ and by their prayer for you, who long after you for the exceeding grace of God in you. ¹⁵ Thanks be to God for His unspeakable gift.

²⁸ Let him that stole steal no more: But rather let him labor, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needs.

⁴ For every creature of God is good, and nothing is to be refused, if it is received with thanksgiving: ⁵ For it is sanctified by the Word of God and prayer.

¹⁰ For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labor of love, which you have shown toward His name, in that you have ministered to the saints, and do minister.

¹⁶ But do not forget to do good and to communicate: For with such sacrifices God is well pleased.

²⁷ Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

¹⁴ What does it profit, my brethren, though a man says he has faith, and does not have works? Can faith save him? ¹⁵ If a brother or sister is naked, and destitute of daily food, ¹⁶ and one of you says to them, "Depart in peace, be warmed and filled"; but you do not give them those things which are needful to the body; what does it profit?

¹⁶ By this we perceive the love of God, because He laid down His life for us: And we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. ¹⁷ But whoever has this world's good life, and sees his brother have need, and shuts up his inner heart of compassion from him, how does the love of God dwell in him?

³⁰ And all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land, or of the fruit of the tree, is the LORD's: It is holy to the LORD. ³¹ And if a man will at all redeem ought of his tithes, he shall add thereto the fifth part of it. ³² And concerning the tithe of the herd, or of the flock, even of whatever passes under the rod, the tenth shall be holy to the LORD. ³³ He shall not search whether it be good or bad, neither shall he change it: And if he change it at all, then both it and its change shall be holy; it shall not be redeemed.

¹² And now, Israel, what does the LORD your God require of you, but to fear the LORD your God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul, ¹³ to keep the commandments of the LORD, and his statutes, which I command you this day for your good?

²² And Samuel said, "Has the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.

⁵ And as soon as the commandment came abroad, the children of Israel brought in abundance the firstfruits of grain, wine, and oil, and honey, and of all the increase of the field; and the tithe of all things brought they in abundantly. ⁶ And concerning the children of Israel and Judah, that dwelled in the cities of Judah, they also brought in the tithe of oxen and sheep, and the tithe of holy things which were consecrated to the LORD their God, and laid them by heaps. ⁷ In the third month they began to lay the foundation of the heaps, and finished them in the seventh month. ⁸ And when Hezekiah and the princes came and saw the heaps, they blessed the LORD, and his people Israel. ⁹ Then Hezekiah questioned with the priests and the Levites concerning the heaps. ¹⁰ And Azariah the chief priest of the house of Zadok answered him, and said, "Since the people began to bring the offerings into the house of the LORD, we have had enough to eat, and have left plenty: For the LORD has blessed his people; and that which is left is this great store.

³⁷ And that we should bring the firstfruits of our dough, and our offerings, and the fruit of all manner of trees, of wine and of oil, to the priests, to the chambers of the house of our God; and the tithes of our ground to the Levites, that the same Levites might have the tithes in all the cities of our tillage.

³ To do justice and judgment is more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice.

¹⁸ It is good that you should take hold of this; yes, also do not withdraw your hand from this: For he who fears God shall come escape from them all.

¹⁰ Hear the word of the LORD, you rulers of Sodom; give ear to the law of our God, you people of Gomorrah. ¹¹ "To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices to Me?" said the LORD: "I am full of the burnt offerings of rams, and the fat of fed beasts; and I do not delight in the blood of bulls, or of lambs, or of he-goats. ¹² When you come to appear before Me, who has required this at your hand, to tread My courts? ¹³ Bring no more vain oblations; incense is an abomination to Me; the new moons and Sabbaths, the calling of assemblies, I cannot away endure; it is iniquity, even the solemn meeting. ¹⁴ My soul hates your new moons and your appointed feasts: They are a trouble to me; I am weary to bear them. ¹⁵ And when you spread forth your hands, I will hide my eyes from you: Yes, when you make many prayers, I will not hear: Your hands are full of blood. ¹⁶ Wash yourselves, make yourselves clean; put away the evil of your doings from before my eyes; cease to do evil; ¹⁷ learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow.

² Yet they seek Me daily, and delight to know My ways, as a nation that did righteousness, and did not forsake the ordinance of their God: They ask of Me the ordinances of justice; they take delight in approaching God. ³ They say, 'Why have we fasted, and You do not see? Why have we afflicted our soul, and You do not take notice?' Behold, in the day of your fast you find pleasure, and compel all your labors. ⁴ Behold, you fast for strife and debate, and to smite with the fist of wickedness: You shall not fast as you do this day, to make your voice heard on high. ⁵ Is it such a fast that I have chosen? A day for a man to afflict his soul? Is it to bow down his head as a bulrush, and to spread sackcloth and ashes under him? Will you call this a fast, and an acceptable day to the LORD? ⁶ Is not this the fast that I have chosen? To loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that you break every yoke?

² stand in the gate of the LORD's house, and proclaim this word there, and say, "Hear the word of the LORD, all you of Judah, that enter in at these gates to worship the LORD." ³ Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, "Amend your ways and your doings, and I will cause you to dwell in this place. ⁴ Do not trust in lying words, saying, 'The temple of the LORD, The temple of the LORD, The temple of the LORD, are these.' ⁵ For if you thoroughly amend your ways and your doings; if you thoroughly execute judgment between a man and his neighbor; ⁶ if you do not oppress the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, and do not shed innocent blood in this place, neither walk after other gods to your hurt: ⁷ Then will I cause you to dwell in this place, in the land that I gave to your fathers, forever and ever. ⁸ Behold, you trust in lying words that cannot profit. ⁹ Will you steal, murder, and commit adultery, and swear falsely, and burn incense to Baal, and walk after other gods whom you do not know; ¹⁰ and come and stand before Me in this house, which is called by My name, and say, 'We are delivered to do all these abominations?'

²¹ Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; "Put your burnt offerings to your sacrifices, and eat flesh. ²² For I did not speak to your fathers, nor commanded them in the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, concerning burnt offerings or sacrifices:

⁸ He has shown you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?

⁶ "A son honors his father, and a servant his master: If then I am a father, where is My honor? And if I am a master, where is My fear?, says the LORD of hosts to you, O priests, that despise My name. And you all say, 'In what have we despised Your name?'

¹⁷ You all have wearied the LORD with your words. Yet all you say, "In what have we wearied Him?" When you all say, "Everyone that does evil is good in the sight of the LORD, and He delights in them"; or, "Where is the God of judgment?"

⁸ Will a man rob God? Yet you all have robbed Me. But you all say, 'In what have we robbed You?' In tithes and offerings.

¹³ But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: For you neither go in yourselves, nor do you permit those who are entering to go in.

²³ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law; judgment, mercy, and faith: These you ought to have done, and not leave the others undone.

²⁷ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are similar to whitened sepulchers, which indeed appear beautiful outwardly, but inside are full of dead men's bones, and of all uncleanness.

¹² I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.'

⁴² But I know you, that you do not have the love of God in you.

¹¹ For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, ¹² teaching us that through denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;

²⁰ If any man says, "I love God", and hates his brother, he is a liar: For he that does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen?

¹⁸ Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.

⁶ And love the uppermost rooms at feasts, the chief seats in the synagogues, ⁷ greetings in the markets, and to be called by men, 'Rabbi, Rabbi.'

³⁸ Then He said to them in His doctrine, "Beware of the scribes, which love to go in long clothing, love salutations in the marketplaces, ³⁹ the chief seats in the synagogues, and the uppermost rooms at feasts:

⁷ And He put forth a parable to those who were called, when He noted how they chose the uppermost rooms; saying to them, ⁸ "When you are invited by anyone to a wedding, do not sit down in the highest room; lest a man more honorable than you be called by him; ⁹ and he who invited you and him come and say to you, 'Give this man a place'; and you begin with shame to take the lowest room. ¹⁰ But when you are invited, go and sit down in the lowest room; that when he who invited you comes, he may say to you, 'Friend, go up higher': Then you shall have honor in the presence of those who sit at food with you. ¹¹ For whoever exalts himself shall be abased; and he that humbles himself shall be exalted."

⁴⁶ "Beware of the scribes, which desire to walk in long robes, and love greetings in the markets, and the highest seats in the synagogues, and the chief rooms at feasts;

¹⁰ Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honor preferring one another;

³ Let nothing be done through strife or vain-glory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than themselves.

² For if there comes to your assembly a man with a gold ring, in gorgeous apparel, and there also comes in a poor man in vile clothing; ³ and you have respect to him that wears the gorgeous clothing, and say to him, "You sit here in a good place"; and say to the poor, "You stand there", or, "Sit here under my footstool": ⁴ Are you then not partial within yourselves, and have become judges of evil thoughts?

⁹ I wrote to the church: But Diotrephes, who loves to have the preeminence among them, does not receive us.

¹⁶ And whoever touches one that is slain with a sword in the open fields, or a dead body, or a bone of a man, or a grave, shall be unclean seven days.

⁹ For there is no faithfulness in their mouth; their inward part is truly wickedness; their throat is an open sepulcher; they flatter with their tongue.

⁸ The watchman of Ephraim was with my God: But the prophet is a snare of a fowler in all his ways, and hatred in the house of his God.

²⁷ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are similar to whitened sepulchers, which indeed appear beautiful outwardly, but inside are full of dead men's bones, and of all uncleanness. ²⁸ Even so you also outwardly appear righteous to men, but inside you are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.

³ Then Paul said to him, "God shall smite you, you whitened wall: For you sit to judge me according to the law, and do you command me to be beaten contrary to the law?"

⁸ And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, "There is yet one man, Micaiah the son of Imlah, by whom we may inquire of the LORD: But I hate him; for he does not prophesy good concerning me, but evil. And Jehoshaphat said, "Let not the king say so.

¹⁰ To whom shall I speak, and give warning, that they may hear? Behold, their ear is uncircumcised, and they cannot listen: Behold, the word of the LORD is a reproach to them; they have no delight in it.

⁸ For since I spoke, I cried out, I cried violence and spoil; because the word of the LORD was made a reproach to me, and a derision, daily.

¹⁰ Then Amaziah the priest of Bethel sent to Jeroboam king of Israel, saying, "Amos has conspired against you in the midst of the house of Israel: The land is not able to bear all his words. ¹¹ For thus says Amos, 'Jeroboam shall die by the sword, and Israel shall surely be led away captive out of their own land.' " ¹² Also Amaziah said to Amos, "O you seer, go, flee away into the land of Judah, and there eat bread, and prophesy there: ¹³ But do not prophesy again any more at Bethel: For it is the king's chapel, and it is the king's court."chapel; or, sanctuaryking's court: In Hebrew, house of the kingdom

³⁵ Then one of them, who was a lawyer, asked Him a question, tempting Him, and saying,

⁴⁶ And He said, "Woe to you also, you lawyers! For you load men with burdens grievous to bear, and you yourselves do not touch the burdens with one of your fingers.

⁵² Woe to you, lawyers! For you have taken away the key of knowledge: You did not enter in yourselves, and you hindered those that were entering in."

⁷ The world cannot hate you; but it hates Me, because I testify of it, that the works of the world are evil.

⁴⁸ Have any of the rulers or the Pharisees believed on Him?

⁴⁰ Then some of the Pharisees who were with Him heard these words, and said to Him, "Are we blind also?"

¹ Woe to those that decree unrighteous decrees, and that write oppressiveness which they have prescribed;

⁶ Is not this the fast that I have chosen? To loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that you break every yoke?

² saying, "The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat: ³ Therefore whatever they tell you to observe, everything, that observe and do; but do not do according to their works: For they talk, but don't do. ⁴ For they bind heavy burdens, grievous to carry, and lay them on men's shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers.

⁴⁵ Then one of the lawyers answered, and said to Him, "Master, in this saying You reproach us also."

¹³ For not even they themselves who are circumcised keep the law; but they desire to have you circumcised, that they may boast in your flesh.

²⁹ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! Because you build the tombs of the prophets, and adorn the sepulchers of the righteous, ³⁰ and say, 'If we had been in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets.' ³¹ Therefore you are witnesses against yourselves, that you are the children of those who killed the prophets. ³² Fill up then the measure of your fathers. ³³ You serpents, you generation of vipers, how can you escape the damnation of hell?

⁵¹ "You stiff necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, you always resist the Holy Spirit: As your fathers did, so you do.

¹⁵ Who killed both the Lord Jesus, and their own prophets, and have persecuted us; and they do not please God, and are contrary to all men:

²² And Joshua said to the people, You are witnesses against yourselves that you have chosen you the LORD, to serve him. And they said, "We are witnesses.

¹⁶ But they mocked the messengers of God, and despised his words, and misused his prophets, until the wrath of the LORD arose against his people, till there was no remedy.

⁸ So they shall make their own tongue to fall upon themselves: All that see them shall flee away.

¹⁹ Yet you say, "Why? Does not the son bear the iniquity of the father? When the son has done that which is lawful and right, and has kept all My statutes, and has done them, he shall surely live.

³⁵ But the vinedressers took his servants, and beat one, killed another, and stoned yet another. ³⁶ Again, he sent other servants more than the first: And they did likewise to them. ³⁷ But last of all he sent his son to them, saying, 'They will reverence my son.' ³⁸ But when the vinedressers saw the son, they said among themselves, 'This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and let us seize on his inheritance.'

³¹ Therefore you are witnesses against yourselves, that you are the children of those who killed the prophets.

³⁵ Women received their dead raised to life again: And others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection: ³⁶ And others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings, yes, moreover of chains and imprisonment: ³⁷ They were stoned, they were sawn into parts, were tempted, were slain with the sword: They wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented; ³⁸ (of whom the world was not worthy): They wandered in deserts, and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth.

¹⁰ My brethren, take the prophets, who have spoken in the name of the Lord, as an example of suffering affliction, and of patience.

² to know wisdom and instruction; to perceive the words of understanding; ³ to receive the instruction of wisdom, justice, and judgment, and equity; ⁴ to give subtlety to the simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion. ⁵ A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain to wise counsels: ⁶ To understand a proverb, and the interpretation; the words of the wise, and their dark sayings.

¹ Does not wisdom cry out? And understanding put forth her voice? ² She stands in the top of high places, by the trailside in the places of the paths. ³ She cries out at the gates, at the entry of the city, at the in coming at the doors. ⁴ "To you, O men, I call; and my voice is to the sons of man. ⁵ O you simple, understand wisdom: And, you fools, be of an understanding heart. ⁶ Hear; for I will speak of excellent things; and the opening of my lips shall be right things. ⁷ For my mouth shall speak truth; and wickedness is an abomination to my lips. ⁸ All the words of my mouth are in righteousness; there is nothing froward or perverse in them. ⁹ They are all plain to him that understands, and right to those that find knowledge. ¹⁰ Receive my instruction, and not silver; and knowledge rather than choice gold. ¹¹ For wisdom is better than rubies; and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it. ¹² I wisdom dwell with prudence, and find out knowledge of witty inventions.

¹ Wisdom has built her house, she has hewn out her seven pillars: ² She has killed her beasts; she has mingled her wine; she has also furnished her table. ³ She has sent forth her maidens: She cries upon the highest places of the city,

⁶ And the rest took his servants, treated them spitefully, and slew them.

¹⁶ Moreover you shall be betrayed even by parents, and brothers, and blood relatives, and friends; and they shall cause some of you to be put to death. ¹⁷ And you shall be hated by all people for My name's sake.

⁴⁷ And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

² They shall put you out of the synagogues: Yes, the time is coming, that whoever kills you will think that he does service to God.

⁸ But you shall receive power, after that the Holy Spirit will come upon you: And you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the uttermost part of the earth."

⁵⁷ Then they cried out with a loud voice, stopped their ears, and ran upon him with one accord,

³ As for Saul, he made havoc within the church, entering into every house; and hauling off men and women, committed them to prison.

¹ Then Saul, ever breathing out threatening and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest, ² and desired from him letters to the synagogues of Damascus, that if he found any of this way, whether they were men or women, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem.

¹ Now about that time Herod the king stretched forth his hands to vex certain ones from the church. ² Moreover he killed James the brother of John with the sword.

⁴ And I persecuted this way to the death, binding and delivering into prisons both men and women. ⁵ As also the high priest bears me witness, and all the presbytery of the elders: From whom I also received letters to the brethren, and went to Damascus to bring those which were there to Jerusalem in chains, to be punished.

²⁰ And when the blood of Your martyr Stephen was shed, I also was standing by, and consenting to his death, and kept the clothes of those that slew him.'

¹⁰ Which things I also did in Jerusalem: And many of the saints I shut up in prison, having received authority from the chief priests; and when they were put to death, I gave my voice against them. ¹¹ And I punished them often in every synagogue, and compelled them to blaspheme; and being exceedingly furious against them, I persecuted them even to foreign cities.

²⁴ but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.

³⁰ But by reason of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who of God is made to us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:

²⁴ From the Jews five times I received forty stripes minus one. ²⁵ Three times I was beaten with rods, once I was stoned, three times I suffered shipwreck, a night and a day I have been in the deep;

¹¹ And He gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers;

³ in whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

⁵ And surely your blood of your lives I will require; at the hand of every beast I will require it, and at the hand of man; at the hand of every man's brother I will require the life of man. ⁶ Whoever sheds man's blood, by man his blood shall be shed: For He made man in the image of God.

⁵ You shall not bow yourself down to them, nor serve them: For I the LORD your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generation of those that hate Me;

³³ So you shall not pollute the land in which you are: For blood it defiles the land: And the land cannot be cleansed of the blood that is shed in it, but by the blood of him that shed it.

⁴ and also for the innocent blood that he shed: For he filled Jerusalem with innocent blood; which the LORD would not pardon.

¹² When He makes inquisition for blood, He remembers them: He does not forget the cry of the humble.

²¹ For, behold, the LORD comes out of His place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity: The earth also shall disclose her blood, and will no longer cover her slain.

²⁹ Cut off your hair, O Jerusalem, and cast it away, and take up a lamentation on high places; for the LORD has rejected and forsaken the generation of His wrath.

⁵⁶ Because the spoiler has come upon her, even on Babylon, and her mighty men are taken, every one of their bows is broken: For the LORD God of recompenses shall surely repay.

²⁰ Rejoice over her, you heaven, and you holy apostles and prophets; for God has avenged you on her." ²¹ And a mighty angel took up a stone like a large millstone, and cast it into the sea, saying, "Thus with violence shall that great city Babylon be thrown down, and shall be found no more at all. ²² And the voice of harpists, musicians, pipers, and trumpeters shall not be heard any more at all in you; and no craftsman, of whatever craft he is, shall be found anymore in you; and the sound of a millstone shall not be heard any more at all in you; ²³ and the light of a candle shall not shine any more at all in you; and the voice of the bridegroom and of the bride shall not be heard any more at all in you: For your merchants were the great men of the earth; for by your sorceries all nations were deceived. ²⁴ And in her was found the blood of prophets, and of saints, and of all that were slain upon the earth."

⁸ And Cain talked with Abel his brother: And it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him. ⁹ And the LORD said to Cain, "Where is Abel your brother?" And he said, "I do not know: Am I my brother's keeper?" ¹⁰ And He said, "What have you done? The voice of your brother's blood cries to me from the ground. ¹¹ And now you are cursed from the earth, which has opened her mouth to receive your brother's blood from your hand;

²⁸ But you shall say to them, 'This is a nation that does not obey the voice of the LORD their God, nor receives correction: Truth is perished, and is cut off from their mouth.'

¹ In the eighth month, in the second year of Darius, the word of the LORD came to Zechariah, the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo the prophet, saying,

³⁵ That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias, whom you slew between the temple and the altar.

⁴ By faith Abel offered to God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: And by it he being dead still speaks.

²⁴ and to Jesus the Mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaks better things than that of Abel.

¹² Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And for what reason did he slay him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother's righteous.

⁷ For the priest's lips should keep knowledge, and they should seek the law at his mouth: For he is the messenger of the LORD of hosts.

⁴⁵ Then one of the lawyers answered, and said to Him, "Master, in this saying You reproach us also." ⁴⁶ And He said, "Woe to you also, you lawyers! For you load men with burdens grievous to bear, and you yourselves do not touch the burdens with one of your fingers.

³⁹ And some of the Pharisees from among the multitude said to Him, "Master, rebuke Your disciples." ⁴⁰ And He answered and said to them, "I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out."

⁴⁷ Then the Pharisees answered them, "Are you also deceived? ⁴⁸ Have any of the rulers or the Pharisees believed on Him? ⁴⁹ But this people who does not know the law are cursed." ⁵⁰ Nicodemus (he that came to Jesus by night, being one of them), said to them, ⁵¹ "Does our law judge any man, before it hears him, and know what he does?" ⁵² They answered and said to him, "Are you also from Galilee? Search, and look: For out of Galilee no prophet has arisen."

²⁴ Therefore they again called the man who was blind, and said to him, "Give God the praise: We know that this Man is a sinner." ²⁵ He answered and said, "Whether He is a sinner or not, I do not know: One thing I know, that while in fact I was blind, now I see." ²⁶ Then they said to him again, "What did He do to you? How did He open your eyes?" ²⁷ He answered them, "I have told you already, and you did not hear: For what reason do you desire to hear it again? Will you also be His disciples?" ²⁸ Then they reviled him, and said, "You are His disciple; but we are Moses' disciples. ²⁹ We know that God spoke to Moses: As for this fellow, we do not know where He is from." ³⁰ The man answered and said to them, "Why, this is a marvelous thing, that you do not know where He is from, and yet He has opened my eyes. ³¹ Now we know that God does not hear sinners: But if any man is a worshiper of God, and does His will, He hears him. ³² Since the world began it has not been heard that any man opened the eyes of one that was born blind. ³³ If this Man were not of God, He could do nothing." ³⁴ They answered and said to him, "You were all together born in sins, and do you teach us?" And they cast him out.

¹⁷ But so that it spreads no further among the people, let us strictly threaten them, that from this time forward they do not speak to any man in this name." ¹⁸ Therefore they called them, and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus.

⁴⁰ And they agreed with him: And when they had called the apostles, and beaten them, they commanded that they should not speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go.

¹² Many bulls have compassed Me: Strong bulls of Bashan have beset Me around. ¹³ They gaped upon Me with their mouths, as a ravening and a roaring lion.

¹² the Syrians before, and the Philistines behind; and they shall devour Israel with open mouth. For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is outstretched still.

¹⁸ Then they said, "Come and let us devise devices against Jeremiah; for the law shall not perish from the priest, nor counsel from the wise, nor the word from the prophet. Come, and let us smite him with the tongue, and let us not give heed to any of his words."

¹⁰ For I heard the defaming of many, "Fear on every side." "Report", they said, "and we will report it." All my familiars watched for my halting, saying, "Peradventure he will be enticed, and we shall prevail against him, and we shall take our revenge on him."

²⁰ Therefore they watched Him, and sent forth spies, who would feign themselves just men, that they might take hold of His words, so that they might deliver Him to the power and authority of the governor.

²⁷ Then certain Sadducees came to Him, which deny that there is any resurrection; and they asked Him,

⁵ does not behave indecently itself, does not seek her own, is not easily provoked, thinks no evil;

³² The wicked watches the righteous, and seeks to slay him. ³³ The LORD will not leave him in his hand, nor condemn him when he is judged.

⁵ Every day they wrest my words: All their thoughts are against me for evil. ⁶ They gather themselves together, they hide themselves, they mark my steps, when they wait for my soul.

¹⁵ Then the Pharisees went, and took counsel how they might entangle Him in His speech.

¹⁸ But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, "Why do you tempt Me, you hypocrites?

² Therefore they watched Him, whether He would heal him on the Sabbath day; that they might accuse Him.

¹³ Then they sent to Him certain ones of the Pharisees and of the Herodians, to catch Him in His words.
