⁸ But at last Daniel came in before me, whose name was Belteshazzar, according to the name of my god, and in whom is the spirit of the holy gods: And I told the dream before him, saying,

¹⁷ And I will come down and talk with you there: And I will take of the spirit which is on you, and will put it on them; and they shall bear the burden of the people with you, that you bear it not yourself alone. ¹⁸ And say you to the people, Sanctify yourselves against tomorrow, and you shall eat flesh: For you have wept in the ears of the LORD, saying, "Who shall give us flesh to eat? For it was well with us in Egypt: Therefore the LORD will give you flesh, and you shall eat. ¹⁹ You shall not eat one day, nor two days, nor five days, neither ten days, nor twenty days; ²⁰ but even a whole month, until it come out at your nostrils, and it be loathsome to you: Because that you have despised the LORD which is among you, and have wept before him, saying, "Why came we forth out of Egypt? ²¹ And Moses said, "The people, among whom I am, are six hundred thousand footmen; and you have said, "I will give them flesh, that they may eat a whole month. ²² Shall the flocks and the herds be slain for them, to suffice them? Or shall all the fish of the sea be gathered together for them, to suffice them? ²³ And the LORD said to Moses, "Is the LORD's hand waxed short? You shall see now whether my word shall come to pass to you or not. ²⁴ And Moses went out, and told the people the words of the LORD, and gathered the seventy men of the elders of the people, and set them all around the tabernacle. ²⁵ And the LORD came down in a cloud, and spoke to him, and took of the spirit that was on him, and gave it to the seventy elders: And it came to pass, that, when the spirit rested on them, they prophesied, and did not cease. ²⁶ But there remained two of the men in the camp, the name of the one was Eldad, and the name of the other Medad: And the spirit rested on them; and they were of those that were written, but went not out to the tabernacle: And they prophesied in the camp. ²⁷ And there ran a young man, and told Moses, and said, "Eldad and Medad do prophesy in the camp. ²⁸ And Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of Moses, one of his young men, answered and said, "My lord Moses, forbid them. ²⁹ And Moses said to him, "Envy you for my sake? Would God that all the LORD's people were prophets, and that the LORD would put his spirit on them! ³⁰ And Moses got him into the camp, he and the elders of Israel.

¹ Bel bows down, Nebo stoops, their idols were on the beasts, and on the domestic beasts: Your carriages were heavy laden; they are a burden to the weary beast.

¹¹ Then He remembered the days of old, Moses, and His people, saying, "Where is He that brought them up out of the sea with the shepherd of His flock? Where is He that put His holy Spirit within him?

² "Declare among the nations, and publish, and set up a standard; publish, and do not conceal: Say, 'Babylon is taken, Bel is confounded, Merodach is broken in pieces; her idols are confounded, her images are broken in pieces.'

⁷ To whom the prince of the eunuchs gave names: For he gave to Daniel the name of Belteshazzar; and to Hananiah, Shadrach; and to Mishael, Meshach; and to Azariah, Abednego.

¹¹ And it is a rare thing that the king requires, and there is none that can show it before the king, except the gods, whose dwelling is not with flesh."

⁹ "O Belteshazzar, master of the magicians, because I know that the spirit of the holy gods is in you, and no secret troubles you, tell me the visions of my dream that I have seen, and the interpretation of it.

¹⁸ This dream I, king Nebuchadnezzar, have seen. Now you, O Belteshazzar, declare the interpretation of it, because all the wise men of my kingdom are not able to make the interpretation known to me: But you are able; for the spirit of the holy gods is in you."

¹¹ There is a man in your kingdom, in whom is the spirit of the holy gods; and in the days of your father light and understanding and wisdom, like the wisdom of the gods, was found in him; whom the king Nebuchadnezzar your father, the king, I say, "your father made master of the magicians, astrologers, Chaldeans, and soothsayers; ¹² in as much as an excellent spirit, and knowledge, and understanding, interpreting of dreams, and explaining of hard sentences, and the dissolving of doubts, were found in the same Daniel, whom the king named Belteshazzar: Now let Daniel be called, and he will show the interpretation."

¹⁴ I have even heard of you, that the spirit of the gods is in you, and that light and understanding and excellent wisdom are found in you.
