Then they brought these men before the king. ¹⁴ Nebuchadnezzar spoke and said to them, "Is it true, O Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, you do not serve my gods, nor worship the golden image which I have set up? ¹⁵ Now if you are ready that at what time you hear the sound of the horn, flute, harp, sackbut trumpet, psaltery, and dulcimer, and all kinds of music, you fall down and worship the image which I have made; well: But if you do not worship, you shall be cast the same hour into the midst of a burning fiery furnace; and who is the God that shall deliver you out of my hands?" ¹⁶ Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego answered and said to the king, "O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not anxious to answer you in this matter. ¹⁷ If that is the case, our God Whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us out of your hand, O king. ¹⁸ But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods nor worship the golden image which you have set up." ¹⁹ Then Nebuchadnezzar was full of fury, and the expression of his face was changed against Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego: Therefore he spoke, and commanded that they should heat the furnace seven times more than it was usually heated. ²⁰ And he commanded the most mighty men that were in his army to bind Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, and to cast them into the burning fiery furnace. ²¹ Then these men were bound in their coats, their trousers, and their hats, and their other garments, and were cast into the midst of the burning fiery furnace. ²² Therefore because the king's commandment was urgent, and the furnace exceedingly hot, the flame of the fire slew those men who took up Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. ²³ And these three men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, fell down bound into the midst of the burning fiery furnace. ²⁴ Then Nebuchadnezzar the king was astonished, and rose up in haste, and spoke, and said to his counselors, "Did we not cast three men bound into the midst of the fire?" They answered and said to the king, "True, O king." ²⁵ He answered and said, "Look, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they are not hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God." ²⁶ Then Nebuchadnezzar came near to the mouth of the burning fiery furnace, and spoke, and said, "Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, servants of the Most High God, come out, and come here." Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego came out of the midst of the fire. ²⁷ And the princes, governors, and captains, and the king's counselors, being gathered together, saw these men, upon whose bodies the fire had no power, nor was the hair of their head singed, neither were their coats changed, nor was the smell of fire passed on to them. ²⁸ Then Nebuchadnezzar spoke, and said, "Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, Who has sent His angel, and delivered His servants who trusted in Him, and has changed the king's word, and yielded their bodies, that they might not serve nor worship any god, except their own God. ²⁹ Therefore I make a decree, that every people, nation, and language, which speak anything amiss against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, shall be cut in pieces, and their houses shall be made a dunghill: Because there is no other God that can deliver in this manner." ³⁰ Then the king promoted Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in the province of Babylon.

²³ You shall not make with me gods of silver, neither shall you make for yourself gods of gold.

² And Aaron said to them, "Break off the golden earrings, which are in the ears of your wives, of your sons, and of your daughters, and bring them to me." ³ And all the people broke off the golden earrings which were in their ears, and brought them to Aaron. ⁴ And he received them at their hand, and fashioned it with an engraving tool, after he had made it a molten calf: And they said, "These be your gods, O Israel, which brought you up out of the land of Egypt."

³¹ And Moses returned to the LORD, and said, "Oh, this people have sinned a great sin, and have made themselves gods of gold.

²⁵ The graven images of their gods shall you burn with fire: You shall not desire the silver or gold that is on them, nor take it to you, lest you be snared in it: For it is an abomination to the LORD your God.

²⁶ And the weight of the golden earrings that he requested was a thousand and seven hundred shekels of gold; beside ornaments, and collars, and purple clothing that was on the kings of Midian, and beside the chains that were about their camels' necks. ²⁷ And Gideon made an ephod of it, and put it in his city, even in Ophrah: And all Israel went thither a whoring after it: Which thing became a snare to Gideon, and to his house.

²⁸ Whereupon the king took counsel, and made two calves of gold, and said to them, "It is too much for you to go up to Jerusalem: Behold your gods, O Israel, which brought you up out of the land of Egypt.

¹⁷ Of a truth, LORD, the kings of Assyria have destroyed the nations and their lands, ¹⁸ and have cast their gods into the fire: For they were no gods, but the work of men's hands, wood and stone: Therefore they have destroyed them.

¹ Now it came to pass in the days of Ahasuerus, (this is the Ahasuerus which reigned, from India even to Ethiopia, over a hundred and twenty-seven provinces):

⁴ Their idols are silver and gold, the work of men's hands. ⁵ They have mouths, but they do not speak; they have eyes, but they do not see; ⁶ they have ears, but they do not hear: They have noses, but they do not smell: ⁷ They have hands, but they do not handle: They have feet, but they do not walk: Neither do they speak through their throat. ⁸ Those who make them are similar to them; so is everyone that trusts in them.

¹⁵ The idols of the heathen are silver and gold, the work of men's hands.

²⁰ In that day a man shall cast his idols of silver, and his idols of gold, which they made each one for himself to worship, to the moles and to the bats;

²² You shall also defile the covering of your graven images of silver, and the ornament of your molten images of gold: You shall cast them away as a menstruous cloth; you shall say to it, 'Be gone.' "

¹⁹ The workman melts a graven image, and the goldsmith spreads it over with gold, and casts silver chains. ²⁰ He who is so impoverished that he has no oblation chooses a tree that will not rot; he seeks for himself a cunning workman to prepare a graven image, that shall not be moved. ²¹ Have you not known? Have you not heard? Has it not been told to you from the beginning? Have you not understood from the foundations of the earth? ²² It is He who sits on the circle of the earth, and its inhabitants are as grasshoppers; that stretches out heaven as a curtain, and spreads them out as a tent to dwell in: ²³ Who brings the princes to nothing; He makes the judges of the earth as vanity. ²⁴ Yes, they shall not be planted; yes, they shall not be sown: Yes, their stock shall not take root in the earth: And He shall also blow on them, and they shall wither, and the whirlwind shall take them away as stubble. ²⁵ "To whom then will you liken Me, or to whom shall I be equal?" said the Holy One. ²⁶ Lift up your eyes on high, and behold who has created these things, who brings out their host by number: He calls them all by names by the greatness of His might, for that He is strong in power; not one fails. ²⁷ Why do you say, "O Jacob, and speak, O Israel, "My way is hid from the LORD, and my judgment is passed over by my God?" ²⁸ Have you not known? Have you not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, does not faint, nor is weary? There is no searching of His understanding. ²⁹ He gives power to the faint; and to those who have no might He increases strength. ³⁰ Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: ³¹ But those who wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; they shall walk, and not faint.

⁶ They lavish gold out of the bag, and weigh silver in the balance, and hire a goldsmith; and he makes it a god: They fall down, yes, they worship.

⁹ Silver spread into plates is brought from Tarshish, and gold from Uphaz, the work of the workman, and of the hands of the founder: Blue and purple is their clothing: They are all the work of cunning men.

²⁰ Shall a man make gods to himself, and they are not gods?

³¹ You, O king, saw, and behold a great image. This great image, whose brightness was excellent, stood before you; and the form of it was terrible. ³² This image's head was of fine gold, his breast and his arms of silver, his belly and his thighs of brass,

⁴⁸ Then the king made Daniel a great man, and gave him many great gifts, and made him ruler over the whole province of Babylon, and chief of the governors over all the wise men of Babylon.

³⁰ Then the king promoted Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in the province of Babylon.

²³ but have lifted up yourself against the Lord of heaven; and they have brought the vessels of His house before you, and you, and your lords, your wives, and your concubines, have drunk wine from them; and have praised the gods of silver and gold, of brass, iron, wood, and stone, which do not see, nor hear, nor know: And the God in Whose hand is your breath, and Whose are all your ways, you have not glorified:

⁴ They have set up kings, but not by Me: They have made princes, and I knew it not: They have made idols for themselves from their silver and their gold, that they may be cut off.

¹⁹ Woe to him that says to the wood, 'Awake'; to the dumb stone, 'Arise, it shall teach!' Behold, it is laid over with gold and silver, and there is no breath at all in the midst of it.

²⁹ In as much as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is similar to gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man's device.

²⁶ Moreover, you see and hear that not only at Ephesus, but throughout almost all Asia, this Paul has persuaded and turned away many people, saying that they are not gods, which are made with hands:

²⁰ And the rest of the men who were not killed by these plagues yet did not repent of the works of their hands, that they should not worship devils, and idols of gold, and silver, and brass, and stone, and of wood: Which can neither see, nor hear, nor walk:

⁴ And he received them at their hand, and fashioned it with an engraving tool, after he had made it a molten calf: And they said, "These be your gods, O Israel, which brought you up out of the land of Egypt." ⁵ And when Aaron saw it, he built an altar before it; and Aaron made proclamation, and said, "Tomorrow is a feast to the LORD." ⁶ And they rose up early on the next day, and offered burnt offerings, and brought peace offerings; and the people sat down to eat and to drink, and rose up to play.

² And they called the people to the sacrifices of their gods: And the people ate, and bowed down to their gods.

²³ Then the lords of the Philistines gathered them together to offer a great sacrifice to Dagon their god, and to rejoice: For they said, "Our god has delivered our enemy Samson into our hand."

³² And Jeroboam ordained a feast in the eighth month, on the fifteenth day of the month, like to the feast that is in Judah, and he offered on the altar. So did he in Bethel, sacrificing to the calves that he had made: And he placed in Bethel the priests of the high places which he had made.

¹² If a ruler hearkens to lies, all his servants are wicked.

²⁷ And the princes, governors, and captains, and the king's counselors, being gathered together, saw these men, upon whose bodies the fire had no power, nor was the hair of their head singed, neither were their coats changed, nor was the smell of fire passed on to them.

¹ It pleased Darius to set over the kingdom a hundred and twenty princes, which should be over the whole kingdom; ² and over them were three presidents; of whom Daniel was the first: That the princes might give accounts to them, and the king should have no damage. ³ Then this Daniel was preferred above the presidents and princes, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king thought to set him over the whole realm. ⁴ Then the presidents and princes sought to find occasion against Daniel concerning the kingdom; but they could find no occasion nor fault; because he was faithful, neither was there any error or fault found in him.

⁶ Then these presidents and princes assembled together to the king, and said thus to him, "king Darius, live forever. ⁷ All the presidents of the kingdom, the governors, and the princes, the counselors, and the captains, have consulted together to establish a royal statute, and to make a firm decree, that whoever shall ask a petition of any God or man for thirty days, except of you, O king, he shall be cast into the den of lions.

² With whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication."

¹ A Psalm of Asaph. God stands in the congregation of the mighty; He judges among the gods. ² How long will you judge unjustly, and accept the persons of the wicked? Selah. ³ Defend the poor and fatherless: Do justice to the afflicted and needy. ⁴ Deliver the poor and needy: Deliver them out of the hand of the wicked. ⁵ They do not know, neither will they understand; they walk on in darkness: All the foundations of the earth are out of course. ⁶ I have said, "You are gods; and all of you are children of the Most High. ⁷ But you shall die like men, and fall like one of the princes." ⁸ Arise, O God, judge the earth: For You shall inherit all nations.

³⁴ But when they had knowledge that he was a Jew, all with one voice cried out for about a span of two hours, "Great is Diana of the Ephesians." ³⁵ And when the town clerk had appeased the people, he said, "You men of Ephesus, what man is there who does not know that the city of the Ephesians is a worshipper of the great goddess Diana, and of the image which fell down from Jupiter?

²¹ Because although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. ²² Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, ²³ and changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made in likeness to corruptible man, and to birds, and four-footed beasts, and creeping things. ²⁴ Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonor their own bodies between themselves: ²⁵ Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshiped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. ²⁶ For this reason God gave them over to vile affections: For even their women changed the natural use into that which is against nature: ²⁷ And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men performing what is indecent, and receiving in themselves the recompense of their error which was appropriate. ²⁸ And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not proper;

¹¹ There is none that understands; there is none that seeks after God.

²⁴ but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God. ²⁵ For the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men. ²⁶ For you see your calling, brethren, how not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called:

¹³ And he does great wonders, so that he makes fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men, ¹⁴ and deceives those that dwell on the earth by means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to those who dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and lived. ¹⁵ And he had power to give life to the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause as many as would not worship the image of the beast to be killed. ¹⁶ And he causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond-servants, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:

¹³ These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength to the beast.

¹⁷ For God has put in their hearts to fulfill His will, and to agree, and give their kingdom to the beast, until the words of God shall be fulfilled.

⁹ Then the king's scribes were called at that time in the third month, that is, the month Sivan, on the twenty-third day of the month; and it was written according to all that Mordecai commanded to the Jews, and to the lieutenants, and the deputies and rulers of the provinces which are from India to Ethiopia, a hundred and twenty-seven provinces, to every province according to the writing of it, and to every people after their language, and to the Jews according to their writing, and according to their language.

¹³ A foolish woman is clamorous: She is simple, and knows nothing. ¹⁴ For she sits at the door of her house, on a seat in the high places of the city, ¹⁵ to call passengers who go right on their ways:

⁹ O Zion, that brings good tidings, get up into the high mountain; O Jerusalem, that brings good tidings, lift up your voice with strength; lift it up, do not be afraid; say to the cities of Judah, "Behold your God!"

¹ "Cry aloud, spare not, lift up your voice like a trumpet, and show My people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins.

¹ Nebuchadnezzar the king, to all people, nations, and languages, that dwell in all the earth: "Peace be multiplied to you.

¹⁴ he cried aloud, and said thus, 'Hew down the tree, and cut off his branches, shake off his leaves, and scatter his fruit: Let the beasts get away from under it, and the birds from his branches:

²⁵ Then king Darius wrote to all people, nations, and languages, that dwell in all the earth; "Peace be multiplied to you.

¹¹ Ephraim is oppressed and broken in judgment, because he willingly walked after the commandment.

¹⁶ For the statutes of Omri are kept, and all the works of the house of Ahab, and you walk in their counsels; that I should make you a desolation, and its inhabitants a hissing: Therefore all of you shall bear the reproach of My people."

⁷ Therefore at that time, when all the people heard the sound of the horn, flute, harp, sackbut trumpet, psaltery, and all kinds of music, all the people, the nations, and the languages, fell down and worshiped the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up.

¹⁰ You, O king, have made a decree, that every man who shall hear the sound of the horn, flute, harp, sackbut trumpet, psaltery, dulcimer, and all kinds of music, shall fall down and worship the golden image:

¹⁵ Now if you are ready that at what time you hear the sound of the horn, flute, harp, sackbut trumpet, psaltery, and dulcimer, and all kinds of music, you fall down and worship the image which I have made; well: But if you do not worship, you shall be cast the same hour into the midst of a burning fiery furnace; and who is the God that shall deliver you out of my hands?"

²⁸ And he looked toward Sodom and Gomorrah, and toward all the land of the plain, and beheld, and lo, the smoke of the country went up as the smoke of a furnace.

⁵ You shall not bow yourself down to them, nor serve them: For I the LORD your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generation of those that hate Me;

¹⁷ And the residue of it he makes into a god, even his graven image: He falls down to it, and worships it, and prays to it, and said, "Deliver me; for you are my god."

²² and a curse shall be taken up by all the captivity of Judah who are in Babylon concerning them, saying, "The LORD make you like Zedekiah and like Ahab, whom the king of Babylon roasted in the fire";

¹⁸ "Son of man, the house of Israel has become dross to Me: They are brass, and tin, and iron, and lead, in the midst of the furnace; they are even the dross of silver." ¹⁹ Therefore thus says the Lord GOD; "Because you have all become dross, behold, therefore I will gather you into the midst of Jerusalem. ²⁰ As they gather silver, and brass, and iron, and lead, and tin, into the middle of the furnace, to blow the fire on it, to melt it; so will I gather you in My anger and in My fury, and I will leave you there, and melt you. ²¹ Yes, I will gather you, and blow on you in the fire of My wrath, and you shall be melted in the midst of it. ²² As silver is melted in the middle of the furnace, so you shall be melted in the midst of it; and you shall know that I the LORD have poured out My fury on you.' "

⁵ The king answered and said to the Chaldeans, "The action has gone from me: If you will not make known to me the dream, with its interpretation, you shall be cut in pieces, and your houses shall be made a dunghill.

¹² For this cause the king was angry and very furious, and commanded to destroy all the wise men of Babylon. ¹³ And the decree went forth that the wise men should be slain; and they sought Daniel and his fellows to be slain.

¹¹ And whoever does not fall down and worship, that he should be cast into the midst of a burning fiery furnace.

²¹ Then these men were bound in their coats, their trousers, and their hats, and their other garments, and were cast into the midst of the burning fiery furnace.

²⁷ Therefore the king immediately sent an executioner, and commanded his head to be brought; and he went and beheaded him in the prison,

² And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a large furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened because of the smoke of the pit.

¹⁵ And he had power to give life to the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause as many as would not worship the image of the beast to be killed. ¹⁶ And he causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond-servants, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: ¹⁷ And that no man might buy or sell, except he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

¹¹ And the smoke of their torment ascends up forever and ever: And they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whoever receives the mark of his name."

⁷ Babylon has been a golden cup in the LORD's hand, who made all the earth drunk: The nations have drunken of her wine; therefore the nations have gone mad.

¹⁶ Who in times past allowed all nations to walk in their own ways.

¹⁹ And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lies in wickedness.

⁹ And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceives the whole world: He was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

³ And I saw one of his heads, how it was wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: And all the world wondered after the beast.

⁸ And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the Book of Life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

¹⁴ and deceives those that dwell on the earth by means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to those who dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and lived.

⁸ The beast that you saw was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: And those that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the Book of Life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.

²⁰ And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that worked miracles before him, with which he deceived those that had received the mark of the beast, and those that worshiped his image. These two were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.

¹² Be it known to the king, that the Jews which came up from you to us have come to Jerusalem, building the rebellious and the bad city, and have set up its walls, and joined the foundations. ¹³ Be it known now to the king, that, if this city be built, and the walls set up again, then will they not pay toll, tribute, and custom, and so you shall damage the revenue of the kings. ¹⁴ Now because we have maintenance from the king's palace, and it was not meet for us to see the king's dishonor, therefore have we sent and certified the king; ¹⁵ that search may be made in the book of the records of your fathers: So shall you find in the book of the records, and know that this city is a rebellious city, and hurtful to kings and provinces, and that they have moved sedition within the same of old time: For which cause was this city destroyed. ¹⁶ We certify the king that, if this city be built again, and its walls set up, by this means you shall have no portion on this side the river.

⁶ And he thought scorn to lay hands on Mordecai alone; for they had showed him the people of Mordecai: Therefore Haman sought to destroy all the Jews that were throughout the whole kingdom of Ahasuerus, even the people of Mordecai.

⁸ And Haman said to king Ahasuerus, "There is a certain people scattered abroad and dispersed among the people in all the provinces of your kingdom; and their laws are diverse from all people; neither do they keep the king's laws: Therefore it is not for the king's profit to endure them. ⁹ If it please the king, let it be written that they may be destroyed: And I will pay ten thousand talents of silver to the hands of those that have the charge of the business, to bring it into the king's treasuries."

¹⁰ The Chaldeans answered before the king, and said, "There is not a man upon the earth that can show the king's matter: Therefore there is no king, lord, nor ruler, that asked such things of any magician, or astrologer, or Chaldean.

¹² Then they came near, and spoke before the king concerning the king's decree; "Have you not signed a decree, that every man who shall ask a petition of any God or man within thirty days, except of you, O king, shall be cast into the den of lions?" The king answered and said, "The thing is true, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which does not alter." ¹³ Then they answered and said before the king, "That Daniel, who is of the children of the captivity of Judah, does not regard you, O king, nor the decree that you have signed, but makes his petition three times a day."

²⁰ And brought them to the magistrates, saying, "These men, being Jews, exceedingly trouble our city, ²¹ and teach customs which are not lawful for us to receive, neither to observe, being Romans." ²² Then the multitude rose up together against them: And the magistrates tore off their clothes, and commanded to beat them.

⁶ But when they did not find them, they dragged Jason and certain brethren to the rulers of the city, crying out, "These that have turned the world upside down have come here also; ⁷ Whom Jason has received: And all of them do contrary to the decrees of Caesar, saying that there is another king, one Jesus." ⁸ And they troubled the people and the rulers of the city, when they heard these things.

²² But we desire to hear from you what you think: For concerning this sect, we know that it is spoken against everywhere."

³ For the years past of our life may suffice for us to have worked the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revelries, banquetings, and abominable idolatries: ⁴ In which they think it is strange that you do not run with them to the same riotous excesses, speaking evil of you:

⁴ Then the Chaldeans spoke to the king in Syriac, "O king, live forever: Tell your servants the dream, and we will show the interpretation."

⁴ Then a herald cried aloud, "To you it is commanded, O people, nations, and languages, ⁵ that at what time you hear the sound of the horn, flute, harp, sackbut trumpet, psaltery, dulcimer, and all kinds of music, you fall down and worship the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar the king has set up:

¹⁰ Now the queen came into the banquet house because of the words of the king and his lords: And the queen spoke and said, "O king, live forever: Do not let your thoughts trouble you, nor let your countenance be changed.

⁶ Then these presidents and princes assembled together to the king, and said thus to him, "king Darius, live forever.

²¹ Then Daniel said to the king, "O king, live forever.

⁷ Render therefore to all their dues: Tribute to whom tribute is due; customs to whom customs; fear to whom fear; honor to whom honor.

¹⁶ And he said, "When you do the office of a midwife to the Hebrew women, and see them upon the stools; if it is a son, then you shall kill him: But if it is a daughter, then she shall live."

²² And Pharaoh charged all his people, saying, "Every son that is born you shall cast into the river, and every daughter you shall save alive."

²⁰ And Miriam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took a tambourine in her hand; and all the women went out after her with tambourines and with dances. ²¹ And Miriam answered them, "Sing to the LORD, for He has triumphed gloriously; He has thrown the horse and his rider into the sea."

¹⁸ And he said, "It is not the voice of those that shout for mastery, neither is it the voice of those that cry for being overcome: But I do hear the noise of those that sing." ¹⁹ And it came to pass, as soon as he came near the camp, that he saw the calf, and the dancing: And Moses' anger waxed hot, and he cast the tablets out of his hands, and broke them beneath the mount.

¹⁶ And David spoke to the chief of the Levites to appoint their brothers to be the singers with instruments of music, psalteries and harps and cymbals, sounding, by lifting up the voice with joy.

²⁸ Thus all Israel brought up the ark of the covenant of the LORD with shouting, and with sound of the cornet, and with trumpets, and with cymbals, making a noise with psalteries and harps.

⁵ Asaph the chief, and next to him Zechariah, Jeiel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehiel, and Mattithiah, and Eliab, and Benaiah, and Obededom: And Jeiel with psalteries and with harps; but Asaph made a sound with cymbals; ⁶ benaiah also and Jahaziel the priests with trumpets continually before the ark of the covenant of God.

¹ Moreover David and the captains of the host separated to the service of the sons of Asaph, and of Heman, and of Jeduthun, who should prophesy with harps, with psalteries, and with cymbals: And the number of the workmen according to their service was: ² Of the sons of Asaph; Zaccur, and Joseph, and Nethaniah, and Asarelah, the sons of Asaph under the hands of Asaph, which prophesied according to the order of the king. ³ Of Jeduthun: The sons of Jeduthun; Gedaliah, and Zeri, and Jeshaiah, Hashabiah, and Mattithiah, six, under the hands of their father Jeduthun, who prophesied with a harp, to give thanks and to praise the LORD. ⁴ Of Heman: The sons of Heman: Bukkiah, Mattaniah, Uzziel, Shebuel, and Jerimoth, Hananiah, Hanani, Eliathah, Giddalti, and Romamtiezer, Joshbekashah, Mallothi, Hothir, and Mahazioth: ⁵ All these were the sons of Heman the king's seer in the words of God, to lift up the horn. And God gave to Heman fourteen sons and three daughters. ⁶ All these were under the hands of their father for song in the house of the LORD, with cymbals, psalteries, and harps, for the service of the house of God, according to the king's order to Asaph, Jeduthun, and Heman.

²⁵ And he set the Levites in the house of the LORD with cymbals, with psalteries, and with harps, according to the commandment of David, and of Gad the king's seer, and Nathan the prophet: For so was the commandment of the LORD by his prophets.

¹² Then the king's scribes were called on the thirteenth day of the first month, and there was written according to all that Haman had commanded to the king's lieutenants, and to the governors that were over every province, and to the rulers of every people of every province according to the writing of it, and to every people after their language; in the name of king Ahasuerus it was written, and sealed with the king's ring. ¹³ And the letters were sent by posts into all the king's provinces, to destroy, to kill, and to cause to perish, all Jews, both young and old, little children and women, in one day, even on the thirteenth day of the twelfth month, which is the month Adar, and to take the spoil of them for a prey. ¹⁴ As a commandment to be given in every province, a copy of the writing was published to all people, that they should be ready against that day.

¹ To the chief Musician upon Gittith, A Psalm of Asaph. Sing aloud to God our strength: Make a joyful noise to the God of Jacob. ² Take a psalm, and bring the timbrel to this place, the pleasant harp with the psaltery. ³ Blow upward the trumpet in the new moon, at the time appointed, on our solemn feast day,

¹ A Psalm or Song for the Sabbath Day. It is a good thing to give thanks to the LORD, and to sing praises to Your name, O Most High: ² To show forth Your lovingkindness in the morning, and Your faithfulness every night, ³ upon an instrument of ten strings, and upon the psaltery; upon the harp with a solemn sound.

²⁰ Shall the throne of iniquity have fellowship with You, those which frame mischief by a law?

³ Let them praise His name in the dance: Let them sing praises to Him with the timbrel and harp. ⁴ For the LORD takes pleasure in His people: He will beautify the meek with salvation.

³ Praise Him with the sound of the trumpet: Praise Him with the psaltery and harp. ⁴ Praise Him with the timbrel and dance: Praise Him with stringed instruments and organs. ⁵ Praise Him upon the loud cymbals: Praise Him upon the high sounding cymbals. ⁶ Let everything that has breath praise the LORD. All of you, praise the LORD.

¹⁶ And moreover I saw under the sun the place of judgment, that wickedness was there; and the place of righteousness, that iniquity was there.

¹ Woe to those that decree unrighteous decrees, and that write oppressiveness which they have prescribed;

⁴ Then a herald cried aloud, "To you it is commanded, O people, nations, and languages, ⁵ that at what time you hear the sound of the horn, flute, harp, sackbut trumpet, psaltery, dulcimer, and all kinds of music, you fall down and worship the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar the king has set up: ⁶ And whoever does not fall down and worship shall in the same hour be cast into the midst of a burning fiery furnace." ⁷ Therefore at that time, when all the people heard the sound of the horn, flute, harp, sackbut trumpet, psaltery, and all kinds of music, all the people, the nations, and the languages, fell down and worshiped the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up.

⁵ that chant to the sound of the viol, and invent instruments of music for themselves, like David;

⁵⁷ Now both the chief priests and the Pharisees had given a commandment, that if any man knew where He was, he should tell it, that they might apprehend Him.

⁷ And the women answered one another as they played, and said, "Saul has slain his thousands, and David his ten thousands." ⁸ And Saul was very wroth, and the saying displeased him; and he said, "They have ascribed to David ten thousands, and to me they have ascribed but thousands: And what more can he have but the kingdom?" ⁹ And Saul eyed David from that day and forward. ¹⁰ And it came to pass on the next day, that the evil spirit from God came upon Saul, and he prophesied in the midst of the house: And David played with his hand, as at other times: And there was a javelin in Saul's hand. ¹¹ And Saul cast the javelin; for he said, "I will smite David with it, even to the wall." And David evaded out of his presence twice.

⁸ And Haman said to king Ahasuerus, "There is a certain people scattered abroad and dispersed among the people in all the provinces of your kingdom; and their laws are diverse from all people; neither do they keep the king's laws: Therefore it is not for the king's profit to endure them.

⁴ Wrath is cruel, and anger is outrageous; but who is able to stand before envy?

⁴ Again, I considered all travail, and every right work, that for this a man is envied by his neighbor. This also is vanity and vexation of spirit.

⁴⁹ And Daniel requested of the king, and he set Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, over the affairs of the province of Babylon: But Daniel sat in the gate of the king.

¹³ Then they answered and said before the king, "That Daniel, who is of the children of the captivity of Judah, does not regard you, O king, nor the decree that you have signed, but makes his petition three times a day."

²⁸ saying, "Did we not strictly command you that you should not teach in this name? And behold, you have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this Man's blood upon us."

⁷ Whom Jason has received: And all of them do contrary to the decrees of Caesar, saying that there is another king, one Jesus."

⁵ But to Cain and to his offering He did not have respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.

³⁰ Then Saul's anger was kindled against Jonathan, and he said to him, "You son of the perverse rebellious woman, do not I know that you have chosen the son of Jesse to your own confusion, and to the confusion of your mother's nakedness? ³¹ For as long as the son of Jesse lives upon the earth, you shall not be established, nor your kingdom. For this reason send now and fetch him to me, for he shall surely die." ³² And Jonathan answered his father Saul, and said to him, "Why shall he be slain? What has he done?" ³³ And Saul cast a javelin at him to smite him: By this Jonathan knew that it was determined by his father to slay David.

⁵ And when Haman saw that Mordecai did not bow, nor did he reverence, then Haman was full of wrath. ⁶ And he thought scorn to lay hands on Mordecai alone; for they had showed him the people of Mordecai: Therefore Haman sought to destroy all the Jews that were throughout the whole kingdom of Ahasuerus, even the people of Mordecai.

¹² Let a bear robbed of her cubs meet a man, rather than a fool in his folly.

³ A stone is heavy, and the sand weighty; but a fool's wrath is heavier than them both.

²² An angry man stirs up strife, and a furious man abounds in transgression.

¹² For this cause the king was angry and very furious, and commanded to destroy all the wise men of Babylon.

¹⁹ Then Nebuchadnezzar was full of fury, and the expression of his face was changed against Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego: Therefore he spoke, and commanded that they should heat the furnace seven times more than it was usually heated.

¹⁸ and you shall be brought before governors and kings for My sake, for a testimony against them and the Gentiles.

⁹ But take heed to yourselves: For they shall deliver you up to councils; and you shall be beaten in the synagogues: And you shall be brought before rulers and kings for My sake, for a testimony against them.

¹¹ Now they were filled with madness; and communed with one another what they might do to Jesus.

¹² But before all these things, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons; being brought before kings and rulers for My name's sake.

²⁵ Then one came and told them, saying, "Behold, the men whom you put in prison are standing in the temple, and teaching the people." ²⁶ Then the captain went with the officers, and brought them without violence: For they feared the people, lest they should have been stoned. ²⁷ And when they had brought them, they set them before the council: And the high priest asked them,

²⁴ And after some days, when Felix came with his wife Drusilla, who was a Jewess, he sent for Paul, and heard him concerning the faith in Christ.

¹³ And if a man does not lie in wait, but God delivers him into his hand; then I will appoint you a place where he shall flee. ¹⁴ But if a man comes presumptuously upon his neighbor, to slay him with guile; you shall take him from My altar, that he may die.

¹ Bel bows down, Nebo stoops, their idols were on the beasts, and on the domestic beasts: Your carriages were heavy laden; they are a burden to the weary beast.

² "Declare among the nations, and publish, and set up a standard; publish, and do not conceal: Say, 'Babylon is taken, Bel is confounded, Merodach is broken in pieces; her idols are confounded, her images are broken in pieces.'

¹ Nebuchadnezzar the king made an image of gold, whose height was sixty cubits, and its breadth six cubits: He set it up in the plain of Dura, in the province of Babylon.60 Hebrew cubits (of the scriptures) high is approximately 109.5 feet, or 33.4m; and 6 Hebrew cubits wide is approximately 11 feet, or 3.3m: Per Noah Webster's 1828 Dictionary and Easton's Illustrated Bible Dictionary, Appendix VI.

⁸ But at last Daniel came in before me, whose name was Belteshazzar, according to the name of my god, and in whom is the spirit of the holy gods: And I told the dream before him, saying,

² And Pharaoh said, "Who is the LORD, that I should obey His voice to let Israel go? I do not know the LORD, neither will I let Israel go."

³² Yet now, if You will forgive their sin; and if not, blot me, I implore You, out of Your book which You have written."

³⁵ Who are they among all the gods of the countries, that have delivered their country out of my hand, that the LORD should deliver Jerusalem out of my hand?

¹⁵ Now therefore let not Hezekiah deceive you, nor persuade you on this manner, neither yet believe him: For no god of any nation or kingdom was able to deliver his people out of my hand, and out of the hand of my fathers: How much less shall your God deliver you out of my hand? ¹⁶ And his servants spoke yet more against the LORD God, and against his servant Hezekiah. ¹⁷ He wrote also letters to rail on the LORD God of Israel, and to speak against him, saying, "As the gods of the nations of other lands have not delivered their people out of my hand, so shall not the God of Hezekiah deliver his people out of my hand.

¹⁸ Beware lest Hezekiah persuade you, saying, 'The LORD will deliver us.' Has any of the gods of the nations delivered his land out of the hand of the king of Assyria? ¹⁹ Where are the gods of Hamath and Arphad? Where are the gods of Sepharvaim? And have they delivered Samaria out of my hand? ²⁰ Who are they among all the gods of these lands, that have delivered their land out of my hand, that the LORD should deliver Jerusalem out of my hand?"

²³ Whom have you reproached and blasphemed? And against whom have you exalted your voice, and lifted up your eyes on high? Even against the Holy One of Israel.

⁵ that at what time you hear the sound of the horn, flute, harp, sackbut trumpet, psaltery, dulcimer, and all kinds of music, you fall down and worship the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar the king has set up: ⁶ And whoever does not fall down and worship shall in the same hour be cast into the midst of a burning fiery furnace."

¹⁷ If that is the case, our God Whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us out of your hand, O king.

²⁸ Then Nebuchadnezzar spoke, and said, "Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, Who has sent His angel, and delivered His servants who trusted in Him, and has changed the king's word, and yielded their bodies, that they might not serve nor worship any god, except their own God. ²⁹ Therefore I make a decree, that every people, nation, and language, which speak anything amiss against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, shall be cut in pieces, and their houses shall be made a dunghill: Because there is no other God that can deliver in this manner."

¹⁶ Then the king commanded, and they brought Daniel, and cast him into the den of lions. Now the king spoke and said to Daniel, "Your God Whom you serve continually, He will deliver you."

²⁰ And when he came to the den, he cried out with a lamentable voice to Daniel: And the king spoke and said to Daniel, "O Daniel, servant of the living God, is your God, Whom you serve continually, able to deliver you from the lions?"

¹⁹ But when they deliver you up, take no thought on how or what you shall speak: For it shall be given to you in that same hour what you shall speak.

⁴³ He trusted in God; let Him deliver Him now, if He will have Him: For He said, 'I am the Son of God.' "

¹¹ But when they lead you, and deliver you up, take no thought beforehand what you shall speak, neither shall you premeditate: But whatever is given you in that hour, you speak that: For it is not you that speaks, but the Holy Spirit.

⁷ Therefore, if You will worship me, all shall be Yours." ⁸ And Jesus answered and said to him, "Get behind Me, Satan: For it is written, 'You shall worship the LORD your God, and Him only shall you serve.' "

¹¹ And when they bring you to the synagogues, and to magistrates, and powers, take no thought how or what thing you shall answer, or what you shall say:

⁹ And if it bears fruit, well: And if not, then after that you should cut it down.' "

¹⁴ Therefore settle it in your hearts, not to meditate beforehand on what you shall answer: ¹⁵ For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to speak against nor resist.

⁸ Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, "You rulers of the people, and elders of Israel, ⁹ if we this day are examined for the good deed done to the feeble man, by what means he is made whole; ¹⁰ let it be known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by Him does this man stand here before you whole. ¹¹ This is the 'stone which was set at naught by you builders, which has become the head of the corner.' ¹² Neither is there salvation in any other: For there is no other name under heaven given among men, by which we must be saved."

¹⁹ But Peter and John answered and said to them, "Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you more than to God, you judge.

²⁹ But Peter and the other apostles answered and said, "We ought to obey God rather than men.

¹⁵ And all that sat in the council, looking steadfastly upon him, saw his face as if it had been the face of an angel.

¹⁰ Then Paul, after the governor had beckoned to him to speak, answered, "In as much as I know that you have been a judge to this nation for many years, I do all the more cheerfully answer for myself: ¹¹ So that you may understand, that it has been only twelve days since I went up to Jerusalem to worship. ¹² And they neither found me in the temple disputing with any man, nor raising up the people, neither in the synagogues, nor in the city: ¹³ Neither can they prove the things of which they now accuse me.

⁷ To whom the prince of the eunuchs gave names: For he gave to Daniel the name of Belteshazzar; and to Hananiah, Shadrach; and to Mishael, Meshach; and to Azariah, Abednego.

¹² There are certain Jews whom you have set over the affairs of the province of Babylon, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego; these men, O king, have not regarded you: They do not serve your gods, nor worship the golden image which you have set up."

¹ And when Abram was ninety-nine years old, the LORD appeared to Abram, and said to him, "I am the Almighty God; walk before Me, and be perfect.

¹⁴ Is anything too hard for the LORD? At the time appointed I will return to you, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son."

³⁷ Moreover David said, "The LORD that delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, He will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine." And Saul said to David, "Go, and the LORD be with you."

⁴⁶ This day the LORD will deliver you into my hand; and I will smite you, and take your head from you; and I will give the carcasses of the army of the Philistines this day to the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth; that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel.

¹⁹ He shall deliver you in six troubles: Yes, in seven there shall no evil touch you.

²⁹ When he gives quietness, who then can make trouble? And when he hides his face, who then can behold him? Whether it be done against a nation, or against a man only:

¹⁰ And He rode upon a cherub, and flew: Yes, He flew upon the wings of the wind. ¹¹ He made darkness His secret place; His pavilion all around Him were dark waters and thick clouds of the skies.

¹ A Psalm of David. The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? ² When the wicked, even my enemies and my foes, came on me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell.

¹ To the chief Musician, to Jeduthun, A Psalm of David. Truly my soul waits upon God: From Him comes my salvation. ² He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defense; I shall not be greatly moved. ³ How long will you imagine mischief against a man? You shall be slain, all of you: You shall be as a bowing wall, and as a tottering fence. ⁴ They only consult to cast him down from his excellency: They delight in lies: They bless with their mouth, but they curse inwardly. Selah. ⁵ My soul, wait only upon God; for my expectation is from Him. ⁶ He only is my rock and my salvation: He is my defense; I shall not be moved.

²⁰ As a dream when one awakes; so, O Lord, when You awake, you shall despise their image.

³ But our God is in the heavens: He has done whatever He has pleased.

⁵ The LORD is your keeper: The LORD is your shade upon your right hand. ⁶ The sun shall not afflict you by day, nor the moon by night. ⁷ The LORD shall preserve you from all evil: He shall preserve your soul.

² Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: For the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; He also has become my salvation.

³ You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You: Because he trusts in You. ⁴ Trust in the LORD forever: For in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength:

¹⁴ In righteousness shall you be established: You shall be far from oppression; for you shall not fear: And far from terror; for it shall not come near you.

⁸ Do not be afraid of their faces: For I am with you to deliver you", said the LORD.

³⁵ And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing: And He does according to His will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: And none can stay His hand, or say to Him, "What are You doing?"

²⁰ And when he came to the den, he cried out with a lamentable voice to Daniel: And the king spoke and said to Daniel, "O Daniel, servant of the living God, is your God, Whom you serve continually, able to deliver you from the lions?" ²¹ Then Daniel said to the king, "O king, live forever. ²² My God has sent His angel, and has shut the lions' mouths, and they have not hurt me: In as much as innocency was found in me before Him; and also before you, O king, I have done no hurt."

²⁷ He delivers and rescues, and He works signs and wonders in heaven and in earth, Who has delivered Daniel from the power of the lions."

³⁷ For with God nothing shall be impossible."

²⁴ But none of these things move me, neither do I count my life dear to myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received from the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.

¹³ Then Paul answered, "What makes you weep and to break my heart? For I am ready not only to be bound, but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus."

²⁰ Now when neither sun nor stars appeared for many days, and no small tempest lay upon us, all hope that we would be saved was by then taken away. ²¹ But after long abstinence from food Paul stood forth in the midst of them, and said, "Sirs, you should have hearkened to me, and not have loosed from Crete, and not have acquired this harm and loss. ²² And now I exhort you to be of good cheer: For there shall be no loss of any man's life among you, but only of the ship. ²³ For there stood by me this night the angel of God, whose I am, and whom I serve, ²⁴ saying, 'Fear not, Paul; you must be brought before Caesar: And look, God has given you all those who sail with you.' ²⁵ Therefore, sirs, be of good cheer: For I believe God, that it shall be just as it was told to me.

³¹ What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?

²⁵ Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those that come to God by Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.

³ You shall have no other gods before Me. ⁴ You shall not make for yourself any graven image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: ⁵ You shall not bow yourself down to them, nor serve them: For I the LORD your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generation of those that hate Me;

⁴ Do not turn to idols, nor make to yourselves molten gods: I am the LORD your God.

¹⁵ And if it seem evil to you to serve the LORD, choose this day whom you will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell: But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.

¹⁵ Though he slay me, yet I will trust in him: But I will maintain my own ways before him.

¹ The wicked flee when no man pursues: But the righteous are bold as a lion.

¹² I, even I, am He who comforts you: Who are you, that you should be afraid of a man who shall die, and of the son of man who shall be made like grass; ¹³ and forget the LORD your maker, who has stretched forth heaven, and laid the foundations of the earth; and have feared continually every day because of the fury of the oppressor, as if he were ready to destroy? And where is the fury of the oppressor?

²⁸ Then Nebuchadnezzar spoke, and said, "Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, Who has sent His angel, and delivered His servants who trusted in Him, and has changed the king's word, and yielded their bodies, that they might not serve nor worship any god, except their own God.

²⁸ And do not fear those which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: But rather fear Him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

³² Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father which is in heaven. ³³ But whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father which is in heaven.

³⁹ He who finds his life shall lose it: And he who loses his life for My sake shall find it.

² He answered and said to them, "When it is evening, you say, 'It will be fair weather: For the sky is red.'

³ Therefore whatever you have spoken in darkness shall be heard in the light; and that which you have spoken in the ear in closets shall be proclaimed upon the housetops. ⁴ And I say to you My friends, do not be afraid of those that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do. ⁵ But I will forewarn you whom you shall fear: Fear Him, which after He has killed has power to cast into hell; yes, I say to you, Fear Him. ⁶ Are not five sparrows sold for two bronze coins, and not one of them is forgotten before God?two bronze coins: In KJV, two farthings ⁷ But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows. ⁸ Also I say to you, Whoever shall confess Me before men, him the Son of Man shall also confess before the angels of God: ⁹ But he that denies Me before men shall be denied before the angels of God.

¹⁰ let it be known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by Him does this man stand here before you whole. ¹¹ This is the 'stone which was set at naught by you builders, which has become the head of the corner.' ¹² Neither is there salvation in any other: For there is no other name under heaven given among men, by which we must be saved." ¹³ Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marveled; and they had knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.

²⁹ But Peter and the other apostles answered and said, "We ought to obey God rather than men. ³⁰ The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom you slew and hung on a tree: ³¹ God has exalted Him with His right hand to be Prince and Savior, to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins. ³² And we are His witnesses of these things; and so also is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those that obey Him."

¹⁰ Fear none of those things which you shall suffer: Behold, the devil shall throw some of you into prison, that you may be proven; and you shall have tribulation ten days: Be faithful to death, and I will give you a crown of life. ¹¹ "He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches; he that overcomes shall not be hurt by the second death." '

¹¹ And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they did not love their lives to the death.

⁵ But to Cain and to his offering He did not have respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell. ⁶ And the LORD said to Cain, "Why are you wroth? And why has your countenance fallen?

² And Jacob beheld the countenance of Laban, and behold, it was not toward him as before.

⁹ The enemy said, 'I will pursue, I will overtake, I will divide the spoil; my lust shall be satisfied upon them; I will draw my sword, my hand shall destroy them.' ¹⁰ You blew with Your wind, the sea covered them: They sank as lead in the mighty waters.

¹⁸ And if you will not yet for all this listen to me, then I will punish you seven times more for your sins.

²¹ And if you walk contrary to me, and will not listen to me; I will bring seven times more plagues on you according to your sins.

²⁴ then will I also walk contrary to you, and will punish you yet seven times for your sins.

²⁸ then I will walk contrary to you also in fury; and I, even I, will chastise you seven times for your sins.

³³ And he put the wood in order, and cut the bull in pieces, and laid him on the wood, and said, "Fill four barrels with water, and pour it upon the burnt sacrifice, and on the wood. ³⁴ And he said, "Do it the second time. And they did it the second time. And he said, "Do it the third time. And they did it the third time. ³⁵ And the water ran all around the altar; and he filled the trench also with water.

¹⁰ And Benhadad sent to him, and said, "The gods do so to me, and more also, if the dust of Samaria shall suffice for handfuls for all the people that follow me. ¹¹ And the king of Israel answered and said, "Tell him, Let not him that girds on his harness boast himself as he that puts it off.

²⁷ But I know your stayed, and your going out, and your coming in, and your rage against me. ²⁸ Because your rage against me and your tumult has come up into my ears, therefore I will put my hook in your nose, and my bridle in your lips, and I will turn back by the way by which you came.

⁷ And the king arising from the banquet of wine in his wrath went into the palace garden: And Haman stood up to make request for his life to Esther the queen; for he saw that there was evil determined against him by the king.

¹⁰ Surely the wrath of man shall praise you: You shall restrain the remainder of wrath.

¹⁴ The wrath of a king is as messengers of death: But a wise man will pacify it.

²⁴ Proud and haughty scorner is his name, who deals in proud wrath.

³ A stone is heavy, and the sand weighty; but a fool's wrath is heavier than them both. ⁴ Wrath is cruel, and anger is outrageous; but who is able to stand before envy?

²³ But I will put it into the hand of those who afflict you; who have said to your soul, 'Bow down, that we may go over': And you have laid your body as the ground, and as the street, to those who went over."

¹³ Then Nebuchadnezzar in his rage and fury commanded to bring Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. Then they brought these men before the king.

⁶ Then the king's countenance was changed, and his thoughts troubled him, so that the joints of his loins were loosened, and his knees knocked against one another.

²⁴ And the king commanded, and they brought those men who had accused Daniel, and they cast them into the den of lions, them, their children, and their wives; and the lions had mastery of them, and broke all their bones in pieces even before they came to the bottom of the den.

⁶³ saying, "Sir, we remember that while He was still alive, that deceiver said, 'After three days I will rise again.' ⁶⁴ Command therefore that the sepulcher be made secure until the third day, lest His disciples come by night, and steal Him away, and say to the people, 'He is risen from the dead': So the last error shall be worse than the first." ⁶⁵ Pilate said to them, "You have a guard; go your way, make it as secure as you can." ⁶⁶ So they went, and made the sepulcher secure, sealing the stone, and setting a guard.

⁴ And I say to you My friends, do not be afraid of those that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do. ⁵ But I will forewarn you whom you shall fear: Fear Him, which after He has killed has power to cast into hell; yes, I say to you, Fear Him.

³³ When they heard that, they were cut to the heart, and took counsel to slay them.

⁵⁴ When they heard these things, they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed upon him with their teeth.

⁴ And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four bands of four soldiers each to keep him; intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people. ⁵ Therefore Peter was kept in prison: But prayer was made without ceasing to God by the church for him.

²³ And when they had laid many stripes upon them, they cast them into prison, charging the jailer to keep them safely:

²⁵ And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises to God: And the prisoners heard them.

³³ And the Egyptians were urgent upon the people, that they might send them out of the land in haste; for they said, "We are all dead men."

⁸ The righteous is delivered out of trouble, and the wicked comes in his stead.

¹⁸ The wicked shall be a ransom for the righteous, and the transgressor for the upright.

¹⁵ He answered and said to Arioch the king's captain, "Why is the decree so hasty from the king?" Then Arioch made the thing known to Daniel.

² "Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling to all the people compassed around, when they shall be in the siege both against Judah and against Jerusalem. ³ And in that day I will make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: All that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it.

⁵ Then he threw down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hung himself.

¹⁹ Moreover when Herod had searched for him, and did not find him, he examined the keepers, and commanded that they should be put to death. And he went down from Judea to Caesarea, and stayed there.

¹⁹ Many are the afflictions of the righteous: But the LORD delivers him out of them all.

¹¹ You brought us into the net; You laid affliction upon our loins. ¹² You have caused men to ride over our heads; we went through fire and through water: But You brought us out into a wealthy place.

¹ A Song of degrees of David. "If it had not been the LORD Who was on our side", now may Israel say; ² "If it had not been the LORD Who was on our side, when men rose up against us: ³ Then they would have swallowed us up alive when their wrath was kindled against us; ⁴ then the waters would have overwhelmed us, the stream would have gone over our soul: ⁵ Then the proud waters would have gone over our soul."

⁶ Then they took Jeremiah, and cast him into the dungeon of Malchiah the son of Hammelech, that was in the court of the prison: And they let down Jeremiah with cords. And in the dungeon there was no water, but mire: So Jeremiah sunk in the mire.

⁵² My enemies chased me fiercely, like a bird, without cause. ⁵³ They have cut off my life in the dungeon, and cast a stone on me. ⁵⁴ Waters flowed over my head; then I said, "I am cut off."

¹⁶ Then the king commanded, and they brought Daniel, and cast him into the den of lions. Now the king spoke and said to Daniel, "Your God Whom you serve continually, He will deliver you." ¹⁷ And a stone was brought, and laid upon the mouth of the den; and the king sealed it with his own signet, and with the signet of his lords; that the purpose might not be changed concerning Daniel.

⁸ For we do not intend, brethren, to have you ignorant of our trouble which came to us in Asia, that we were pressed beyond measure, above strength, so that we despaired even of life: ⁹ But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raises the dead: ¹⁰ Who delivered us from so great a death, and does deliver: In whom we trust that He will yet deliver us;

¹⁷ For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, works for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;

¹² Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to prove you, as though some strange thing happened to you: ¹³ But rejoice, considering that you are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that when His glory shall be revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy.

⁵⁵ And when Saul saw David go forth against the Philistine, he said to Abner, the captain of the host, "Abner, whose son is this youth?" And Abner said, "As your soul lives, O king, I cannot tell."

² Then Nebuchadnezzar the king sent to gather together the princes, the governors, and the captains, the judges, the treasurers, the counselors, the sheriffs, and all the rulers of the provinces, to come to the dedication of the image which Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up. ³ Then the princes, the governors, and captains, the judges, the treasurers, the counselors, the sheriffs, and all the rulers of the provinces, were gathered together to the dedication of the image that Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up; and they stood before the image that Nebuchadnezzar had set up.

⁹ They spoke and said to the king Nebuchadnezzar, "O king, live forever. ¹⁰ You, O king, have made a decree, that every man who shall hear the sound of the horn, flute, harp, sackbut trumpet, psaltery, dulcimer, and all kinds of music, shall fall down and worship the golden image:

²² It is you, O king, that are grown and have become strong: For your greatness has grown, and reaches to heaven, and your dominion to the end of the earth.

²⁷ Therefore, O king, let my counsel be acceptable to you, and break off your sins by righteousness, and your iniquities by showing mercy to the poor; if it may be a lengthening of your tranquility."

¹⁸ O king, the Most High God gave Nebuchadnezzar your father a kingdom, and majesty, and glory, and honor:

²² My God has sent His angel, and has shut the lions' mouths, and they have not hurt me: In as much as innocency was found in me before Him; and also before you, O king, I have done no hurt."

²³ saying, "We truly found the prison shut with all certainty, and the keepers standing outside before the doors: But when we opened, we found no man within." ²⁴ Now when the high priest, the captain of the temple, and the chief priests heard these things, they questioned them about where this news would grow. ²⁵ Then one came and told them, saying, "Behold, the men whom you put in prison are standing in the temple, and teaching the people."

⁶ And he trembling and astonished said, "Lord, what would You have me to do?" And the Lord said to him, "Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told to you what you must do."

¹³ And as Peter knocked at the door of the gate, a damsel came to hearken, named Rhoda.

¹³ at midday, O king, on the highway I saw a light from heaven, exceeding the brightness of the sun, shining all around me and those who journeyed with me.

²⁷ King Agrippa, do you believe the prophets? I know that you believe."

⁶ Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them.

⁷ when the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?

⁷ The angel of the LORD encamps all around those that fear Him, and delivers them.

³ Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler, and from the noxious pestilence. ⁴ He shall cover you with His feathers, and under His wings shall you trust: His truth shall be your shield and buckler. ⁵ You shall not be afraid on account of the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flies by day; ⁶ nor for the pestilence that walks in darkness; nor for the destruction that lays waste at noonday. ⁷ A thousand shall fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand; but it shall not come near you. ⁸ Merely with your eyes shall you behold and see the reward of the wicked. ⁹ Because you have made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the Most High, your habitation;

⁴ Who has ascended up into heaven, or descended? Who has gathered the wind in His fists? Who has bound the waters in a garment? Who has established all the ends of the earth? What is His name, and what is His Son's name, if you can tell?

² When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you: When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle on you.

¹⁸ But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods nor worship the golden image which you have set up."

¹⁸ they shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover."

³⁵ And the angel answered and said to her, "The Holy Spirit shall come upon you, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow you: Therefore that Holy One which shall be born of you shall also be called the Son of God.

⁷ The Jews answered him, "We have a law, and by our law He ought to die, because He made Himself the Son of God." ⁸ When Pilate therefore heard that saying, he was all the more afraid;

⁵ But he shook off the beast into the fire, and felt no harm.

⁴ and declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the Spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead:

¹³ And who is he that will harm you, if you are followers of that which is good?

¹⁸ And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: And he was the priest of the most high God.

¹⁷ And the priests that bore the ark of the covenant of the LORD stood firm on dry ground in the middle of Jordan, and all the Israelites passed over on dry ground, until all the people were passed clean over the Jordan.

¹⁰ For the priests which bore the ark stood in the middle of Jordan, until everything was finished that the LORD commanded Joshua to speak to the people, according to all that Moses commanded Joshua: And the people hurried and passed over.

¹⁶ command the priests that bear the ark of the testimony, that they come up out of Jordan. ¹⁷ Joshua therefore commanded the priests, saying, "Come you up out of Jordan. ¹⁸ And it came to pass, when the priests that bore the ark of the covenant of the LORD were come up out of the middle of Jordan, and the soles of the priests' feet were lifted up to the dry land, that the waters of Jordan returned to their place, and flowed over all his banks, as they did before.

¹¹ And thus they returned us answer, saying, "We are the servants of the God of heaven and earth, and build the house that was built these many years ago, which a great king of Israel built and set up.

¹⁶ Therefore thus says the Lord GOD, "Behold, I lay in Zion a stone for a foundation, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: He that believes shall not make haste.

¹² For you shall not go out with haste, nor go by flight: For the LORD will go before you; and the God of Israel will be your rear-guard.

⁴⁷ The king answered to Daniel, and said, "It is true that your God is a God of gods, and a Lord of kings, and a revealer of secrets, seeing you could reveal this secret."

² I thought it would be good to show the signs and wonders that the high God has worked in regard to me.

¹⁷ The same followed Paul and us, and cried out saying, "These men are the servants of the Most High God, which show to us the way of salvation."

³⁷ But Paul said to them, "They have beaten us openly uncondemned, being Romans, and have cast us into prison; and now do they thrust us out privily? No indeed; but let them come themselves and fetch us out."

²³ For there stood by me this night the angel of God, whose I am, and whom I serve,

¹⁰ For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.

⁵ Then a voice came out of the throne, saying, "Praise our God, all you His servants, and you that fear Him, both small and great."

⁴⁶ This day the LORD will deliver you into my hand; and I will smite you, and take your head from you; and I will give the carcasses of the army of the Philistines this day to the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth; that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel. ⁴⁷ And all this assembly shall know that the LORD does not save with sword and spear: For the battle is the LORD's, and He will give you into our hands."

¹⁹ Now therefore, O LORD our God, I beseech you, save you us out of his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that you are the LORD God, even you only.

¹⁸ That men may know that You, whose name alone is JEHOVAH, are the Most High over all the earth.

⁷ Give to the LORD, O you kindreds of the people, give to the LORD glory and strength. ⁸ Give to the LORD the glory due to His name: Bring an offering, and come into His courts. ⁹ O worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness: Tremble before Him, all the earth.

¹¹ LORD, when Your hand is lifted up, they will not see: But they shall see, and be ashamed for their envy of the people; yes, the fire of Your enemies shall devour them.

³⁰ But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.

¹⁷ And you shall be hated by all people for My name's sake. ¹⁸ But not a hair of your head shall perish.

⁶ Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because every man heard them speak in his own language. ⁷ And they were all amazed and marveled, saying to one another, "Behold, are not all these who speak Galileans? ⁸ And how come we hear every man in our own tongue, in which we were born? ⁹ Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia, ¹⁰ Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya around Cyrene, strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes, ¹¹ Cretes and Arabians, we hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God." ¹² And they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying to one another, "What could this mean?"

²⁶ For the king knows of these things, before whom I also speak freely: For I am persuaded that none of these things are hidden from him; seeing this thing was not done in a corner.

³⁴ Therefore I urge you to take some food: Because this is for your health: For not a hair shall fall from the head of any of you."

³⁴ quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in battle, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.

²⁶ And he said, "Blessed be the LORD God of Shem; and Canaan shall be his servant."

¹⁵ And when the morning arose, then the angels hastened Lot, saying, "Arise, take your wife, and your two daughters, which are here; lest you be consumed in the iniquity of the city." ¹⁶ And while he lingered, the men laid hold upon his hand, and upon the hand of his wife, and upon the hand of his two daughters; the LORD being merciful to him: And they brought him forth, and set him outside the city.

²⁰ And they were helped against them, and the Hagarites were delivered into their hand, and all that were with them: For they cried out to God in the battle, and he was entreated of them; because they put their trust in him.

²⁰ And they rose early in the morning, and went forth into the wilderness of Tekoa: And as they went forth, Jehoshaphat stood and said, "Hear me, O Judah, an d all you inhabitants of Jerusalem; Believe in the LORD your God, so shall you be established; believe his prophets, so shall you prosper.

²¹ And the LORD sent an angel, which cut off all the mighty men of valor, and the leaders and captains in the camp of the king of Assyria. So he returned with shame of face to his own land. And when he was come into the house of his god, those that came forth of his own bowels slew him there with the sword.

³ Who is there among you of all his people? His God be with him, and let him go up to Jerusalem, which is in Judah, and build the house of the LORD God of Israel, (he is the God), which is in Jerusalem.

¹¹ Also I have made a decree, that whoever shall alter this word, let timber be pulled down from his house, and being set up, let him be hanged on it; and let his house be made a dunghill for this.

²³ Whatever is commanded by the God of heaven, let it be diligently done for the house of the God of heaven: For why should there be wrath against the realm of the king and his sons? ²⁴ Also we certify you, that touching any of the priests and Levites, singers, porters, Nethinims, or ministers of this house of God, it shall not be lawful to impose toll, tribute, or custom, on them. ²⁵ And you, Ezra, after the wisdom of your God, that is in your hand, set magistrates and judges, which may judge all the people that are beyond the river, all such as know the laws of your God; and teach you those that know them not. ²⁶ And whoever will not do the law of your God, and the law of the king, let judgment be executed speedily on him, whether it be to death, or to banishment, or to confiscation of goods, or to imprisonment. ²⁷ Blessed be the LORD God of our fathers, which has put such a thing as this in the king's heart, to beautify the house of the LORD which is in Jerusalem: ²⁸ And has extended mercy to me before the king, and his counsellors, and before all the king's mighty princes. And I was strengthened as the hand of the LORD my God was on me, and I gathered together out of Israel chief men to go up with me.

⁴ Our fathers trusted in You: They trusted, and You delivered them. ⁵ They cried out to You, and were delivered: They trusted in You, and were not confounded.

¹⁸ Behold, the eye of the LORD is upon those that fear Him, upon them that hope in His mercy;

²¹ For our heart shall rejoice in Him, because we have trusted in His holy name.

⁷ The angel of the LORD encamps all around those that fear Him, and delivers them. ⁸ O taste and see that the LORD is good: Blessed is the man that trusts in him.

²² The LORD redeems the soul of His servants: And none of those that trust in Him shall be desolate.

⁸ Trust in Him at all times; you people, pour out your heart before Him: God is a refuge for us. Selah.

¹¹ For the LORD God is a sun and shield: The LORD will give grace and glory: He will not withhold any good thing from those that walk uprightly. ¹² O LORD of hosts, blessed is the man who trusts in You.

²⁰ Bless the LORD, you His angels, that excel in strength, that do His commandments, hearkening to the voice of His word.

⁵ Happy is he who has the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the LORD his God: ⁶ Which made heaven, and earth, the sea, and all that is in them: Which keeps truth forever:

¹¹ The LORD takes pleasure in those who fear Him, in those that hope in His mercy.

³⁶ Then the angel of the LORD went forth, and smote in the camp of the Assyrians a hundred and eighty and five thousand: And when they arose early in the morning, behold, they were all dead corpses.

⁷ Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, and whose hope is the LORD. ⁸ For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, and which spreads out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat comes, but her leaves shall be green; and shall not be anxious in the year of drought, nor shall cease from yielding fruit.

¹⁵ Now if you are ready that at what time you hear the sound of the horn, flute, harp, sackbut trumpet, psaltery, and dulcimer, and all kinds of music, you fall down and worship the image which I have made; well: But if you do not worship, you shall be cast the same hour into the midst of a burning fiery furnace; and who is the God that shall deliver you out of my hands?" ¹⁶ Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego answered and said to the king, "O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not anxious to answer you in this matter. ¹⁷ If that is the case, our God Whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us out of your hand, O king. ¹⁸ But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods nor worship the golden image which you have set up."

²⁵ He answered and said, "Look, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they are not hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God."

³⁴ And at the end of the days, I, Nebuchadnezzar, lifted up my eyes to heaven, and my understanding returned to me, and I blessed the Most High, and I praised and honored Him that lives forever, whose dominion is an everlasting dominion, and His kingdom is from generation to generation:

²² My God has sent His angel, and has shut the lions' mouths, and they have not hurt me: In as much as innocency was found in me before Him; and also before you, O king, I have done no hurt." ²³ Then the king was exceedingly glad for him, and commanded that they should take Daniel up out of the den. So Daniel was taken up out of the den, and no manner of injury was found upon him, because he believed in his God.

²⁶ I make a decree, that in every dominion of my kingdom men tremble and fear before the God of Daniel: For He is the living God, and stedfast forever, and His kingdom is that which shall not be destroyed, and His dominion shall even be to the end.

¹⁰ Then Jesus said to Him, "Get away from here, Satan: For it is written, 'You shall worship the LORD your God, and Him only shall you serve.' "

¹⁹ But the angel of the Lord opened the prison doors by night, and brought them forth, and said,

⁷ And behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light shone in the prison: And he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, "Arise up quickly." And his chains fell off from his hands. ⁸ Then the angel said to him, "Gird yourself, and tie on your sandals"; and so he did. And he said to him, "Throw your garment around you, and follow me." ⁹ Therefore he went out, and followed him; and was not aware that it was actually true which was done by the angel; but thought he saw a vision. ¹⁰ When they were past the first and the second ward, they came to the iron gate that leads to the city; which opened to them of its own accord: And they went out, and passed on through one street; and immediately the angel departed from him. ¹¹ And when Peter had come to himself, he said, "Now I know for sure that the Lord has sent His angel, and has delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from all the expectation of the Jewish people."

¹ I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.

⁷ For none of us lives to himself, and no man dies to himself. ⁸ For if we live, we live to the Lord; and if we die, we die to the Lord: Whether we therefore live, or die, we are the Lord's.

¹² That we should be to the praise of His glory, who first trusted in Christ. ¹³ In Whom you also trusted, after that you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: In Whom also after that you believed, you were sealed with that Holy Spirit of promise,

²⁰ according to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing shall I be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death.

¹⁴ Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for those who shall be heirs of salvation?

³⁷ They were stoned, they were sawn into parts, were tempted, were slain with the sword: They wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented;

²¹ Who by Him do believe in God, that raised Him up from the dead, and gave Him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.

³¹ For their rock is not as our Rock, even our enemies themselves being judges.

⁸ Salvation belongs to the LORD: Your blessing is upon Your people. Selah.

³⁰ For which reason the LORD God of Israel says, 'I said indeed that your house, and the house of your father, should walk before Me forever': But now the LORD says, 'Far be it from Me; for those that honor Me I will honor, and those that despise Me shall be lightly esteemed.

³ And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season; its leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper.

¹⁴ "Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him: I will set him on high, because he has known My name.

²⁶ If anyone serves Me, let him follow Me; and where I am, there My servant shall also be: If anyone serves Me, My Father will honor him.
