⁷ And in them you also walked at one time, when you lived in them.

¹⁹ I speak after the manner of men, because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as you have yielded your members as slaves to uncleanness and to ever increasing iniquity; so now yield your members as slaves to righteousness, leading to holiness. ²⁰ For when you were the slaves of sin, you were free from the control of righteousness.

⁵ For when we were in the flesh, the passions of sin, which were aroused by the law, were at work in our members to bring forth fruit for death.

¹¹ And such were some of you: but you are washed, but you are sanctified, but you are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.

² In which you walked in times past, according to the ways of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience.

¹³ And you, being dead in your transgressions and the uncircumcision of your flesh, he has made alive together with him, having forgiven us all transgressions;

³ For we ourselves were once foolish, disobedient, deceived, slaves to various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy; hated, and hating one another.

³ For the time past was sufficient for doing the things the Gentiles desire to do: living in debauchery, lust, drunkenness, revelling, carousing, and abominable idolatries. ⁴ They think it strange that you do not run with them into the same excess of dissipation, and they speak evil of you:
