¹⁶ Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father, who has loved us, and has given us eternal comfort and good hope through grace,

²⁵ But Abraham said, Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, and Lazarus received evil things: but now he is comforted, and you are tormented.

¹⁶ For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life.

¹⁴ But whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into eternal life.

¹ Now before the feast of the passover, when Jesus knew that his hour had come to depart out of this world to the Father, having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end.

¹⁶ And I will pray to the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever; ¹⁷ That is the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see him, neither does it know him: but you know him; for he dwells with you, and shall be in you. ¹⁸ I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.

⁹ As the Father has loved me, so I have loved you: abide in my love.

¹³ Greater love has no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

²² So also you have sorrow now: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and no man shall take your joy from you.

¹¹ But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved, just as they will.

²⁷ And when he wanted to go to Achaia, the brethren wrote, exhorting the disciples to welcome him: and when he had come, he greatly helped those who through grace had believed:

⁷ To all who are in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.

⁴ Now to the one who works, his reward is not counted as a gift, but as his due.

¹⁶ Therefore it is by faith, that it might be by grace; so that the promise might be certain to all his descendants; not only to those who are of the law, but also to those who are of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all,

² By whom we also have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. ³ And not only this, but we also rejoice in tribulations: knowing that tribulation works perseverance; ⁴ And perseverance, character; and character, hope: ⁵ And hope does not disappoint; because the love of God has been poured into our hearts by the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.

⁸ But God shows his love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

²⁴ For we are saved by this hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what man hopes for what he sees? ²⁵ But if we hope for what we do not see, then we wait for it with patience.

⁵ Even so, at this present time, there is a remnant, chosen by grace. ⁶ And if by grace, then it is no longer by works: otherwise grace is no longer grace.

¹⁷ For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, prepares for us an incomparable and eternal weight of glory; ¹⁸ So we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.

⁴ But God, who is rich in mercy, because of his great love with which he loved us, ⁵ Even when we were dead in transgressions, has made us alive together with Christ, (by grace you are saved;)

² And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us, and has given himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice, a sweet smelling aroma to God.

²⁵ Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church, and gave himself up for her;

⁵ Because of the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, of which you have already heard in the word of truth, the gospel;

²³ If you continue in the faith, grounded and steadfast, and are not moved away from the hope of the gospel which you have heard, which was preached to every creature under heaven; and of which I, Paul, was made a minister.

³ Always remembering your work of faith, and labour of love, and endurance of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of our God and Father;

¹¹ Now may our God and Father himself, and our Lord Jesus, direct our way to you.

¹ Paul, and Silvanus, and Timothy, to the church of the Thessalonians in God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ: ² Grace to you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

¹³ But we ought always to give thanks to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God has from the beginning chosen you for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth:

² Which rests in the hope of eternal life, which God, who cannot lie, promised before the beginning of time;

¹³ Looking for the blessed hope, the glorious appearing of our great God and Saviour Jesus Christ;

⁴ But when the kindness and love of God our Saviour appeared, ⁵ He saved us, not because of works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing by the Holy Spirit; ⁶ Whom he poured out upon us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; ⁷ That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs, having the hope of eternal life.

¹¹ And we desire that every one of you show the same diligence in realizing the full assurance of hope until the end: ¹² That you may not grow slothful, but be followers of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.

¹⁸ That by two immutable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us might have a strong encouragement. ¹⁹ This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, which enters within the veil;

¹⁹ (For the law made nothing perfect;) but there is the bringing in of a better hope; by which we draw near to God.

³ Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who by his abundant mercy has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, ⁴ To an imperishable and undefiled inheritance, that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, ⁵ Who are guarded by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. ⁶ In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a time you may have to suffer various trials: ⁷ That the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold, which perishes, though it is tested by fire, might be found to result in praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ. ⁸ Though you have not seen him, you love him; and though you do not see him now, yet you believe in him and rejoice with inexpressible and glorious joy:

² Beloved, now we are the sons of God; and what we shall be has not yet been disclosed: but we know that when he shall appear, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. ³ And every man who has this hope in him purifies himself, just as he is pure.

¹⁶ By this we know love, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.

⁹ In this was the love of God revealed among us, that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. ¹⁰ In this is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the atoning sacrifice for our sins.

⁵ And from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, and the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth. To him who loves us, and freed us from our sins by his own blood,

⁹ Behold, I will make those of the synagogue of Satan, who say they are Jews, and are not, but lie; behold, I will make them to come and bow down before your feet, and to know that I have loved you.

¹⁶ They shall hunger no more, nor shall they thirst any more; nor shall the sun beat upon them, nor shall any scorching heat. ¹⁷ For the Lamb who is at the center of the throne shall be their shepherd, and shall lead them to the springs of the waters of life: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.

⁵ And there shall be no night there; and they shall need no lamp, nor light from the sun; for the Lord God shall give them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever.
