¹⁵ Who both killed the Lord Jesus, and their own prophets, and have persecuted us. They do not please God, and oppose all men,

¹² Rejoice, and be exceedingly glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

³⁵ And the tenants took his servants, and beat one, and killed another, and stoned another. ³⁶ Again, he sent other servants, more than the first: and they did the same to them. ³⁷ But last of all he sent to them his son, saying, They will respect my son. ³⁸ But when the tenants saw the son, they said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and let us seize his inheritance. ³⁹ And they took him, and cast him out of the vineyard, and killed him.

³¹ Therefore you are witnesses against yourselves, that you are the sons of those who killed the prophets. ³² Fill up, then, the measure of the sins of your fathers. ³³ You serpents, you generation of vipers, how can you escape being condemned to hell? ³⁴ Therefore, behold, I send to you prophets, and wise men, and scribes: and some of them you shall kill and crucify; and some of them you shall scourge in your synagogues, and persecute from city to city: ³⁵ That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah, son of Berachiah, whom you killed between the temple and the altar.

³⁷ O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets, and stone those who are sent to you, how often would I have gathered your children together, even as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you would not let me!

²⁵ Then all the people answered, and said, His blood be on us, and on our children.

⁴⁸ Truly you bear witness that you approve of the deeds of your fathers: for they killed them, and you build their tombs. ⁴⁹ For this reason also the wisdom of God said, I will send them prophets and apostles, and some of them they shall kill and persecute, ⁵⁰ That the blood of all the prophets, which was shed from the foundation of the world, may be required of this generation; ⁵¹ From the blood of Abel to the blood of Zechariah, who perished between the altar and the temple: truly I say to you, It shall be required of this generation. ⁵² Woe to you, lawyers! for you have taken away the key of knowledge: you did not enter in yourselves, and those who were entering in you hindered. ⁵³ And as he left, the scribes and Pharisees began to be hostile, and to question him closely on many things:

³³ Nevertheless, I must journey on today, and tomorrow, and the day following: for it cannot be that a prophet should perish outside of Jerusalem. ³⁴ O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, which kills the prophets, and stones those who are sent to you; how often would I have gathered your children together, as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you would not allow it!

²⁰ And how the chief priests and our rulers delivered him up to be condemned to death, and have crucified him.

²³ This man, being delivered up by the definite plan and foreknowledge of God, you have taken, and by the hands of wicked men have crucified and slain.

¹⁵ And killed the Prince of life, whom God has raised from the dead. Of this we are witnesses.

¹⁰ Then let it be known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, by him does this man stand here before you well.

³⁰ The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom you killed by hanging him on a tree.

⁵² Which of the prophets did your fathers not persecute? and they killed those who told beforehand of the coming of the Righteous One; whom you have now betrayed and murdered:

³ And because he saw it pleased the Jews, he proceeded to arrest Peter also. (This was during the days of unleavened bread.)

¹⁸ And saw him saying to me, Make haste, and quickly get out of Jerusalem: for they will not receive your testimony concerning me. ¹⁹ And I said, Lord, they know that in every synagogue I imprisoned and beat those who believed in you: ²⁰ And when the blood of your martyr Stephen was shed, I was standing by, and consenting to his death, and kept the garments of those who killed him. ²¹ And he said to me, Depart: for I will send you far away to the Gentiles.

⁵ But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness.
