¹ But in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplying, there arose a murmuring of the Hellenists against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily ministration.

¹³ But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites I because ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men; for ye go not in yourselves, nor suffer those who are entering to go in.

⁴¹ They therefore received his word, and were baptized; and there were added on that day about three thousand souls.

⁴⁵ and they sold their possessions and goods, and divided them among all, as any one had need.

⁴⁷ praising God, and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were in the way of salvation.

⁴ Many however of those who heard the word believed; and the number of the men became five thousand.

³⁵ and laid them at the feet of the apostles; and distribution was made to every one, according as he had need.

¹⁴ and more and more were believers added to the Lord, multitudes both of men and women;

²⁸ saying, We strictly commanded you not to teach in this name, and lo! ye have filled Jerusalem with your teaching, and mean to bring this mans blood upon us.

⁷ And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples in Jerusalem was greatly enlarged; and a great multitude of the priests were obedient to the faith.

²⁹ speaking boldly in the name of the Lord. And he often spoke and disputed with the Hellenists; but they were endeavoring to slay him.

³⁹ Then Peter arose, and went with them. When he was come, they brought him into the upper chamber; and all the widows came to him weeping, and showing the coats and cloaks which Dorcas made while she was with them.

⁴¹ And he gave her his hand, and raised her up; and calling the saints and the widows, he presented her alive.

²⁰ But some of them were men of Cyprus and Cyrene, who, when they had come to Antioch, spoke to the Greeks, publishing the glad tidings of the Lord Jesus.

¹⁰ And do not ye murmur, as some of them murmured, and perished by the Destroyer.

²² Are they Hebrews? So am I. Are they Israelites? So am I. Are they Abrams offspring? So am I.

⁵ circumcised the eighth day, of the race of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of the Hebrews; as to the Law, a Pharisee;

⁴ But if any widow have children or grandchildren, let them learn first to show piety to their own family, and to requite their parents; for this is acceptable before God. ⁵ Now she that is a widow indeed, and left alone, hath set her hope on God, and continueth in supplications and prayers night and day;

⁹ Let a widow be put on the list when not less than sixty years old, having been the wife of one husband,

¹ Let brotherly love continue.

²⁷ Pure religion and undefiled before God, the Father, is this, to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep ones self unspotted from the world.

⁵ Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, "Zealously doth the Spirit, which made its abode in us, long for us"?

⁹ Murmur not against each other, brethren, that ye be not judged. Behold, the Judge standeth before the door.
