John 8 Cross References - NHEB

1 but Jesus went to the Mount of Olives. 2 Now very early in the morning, he came again into the temple, and all the people came to him, and he sat down and taught them. 3 Then the scribes and the Pharisees brought a woman taken in adultery, and having set her in the midst, 4 they said to him, "Teacher, we found this woman in adultery, in the very act. 5 Now in the Law, Moses commanded us to stone such. So what do you say?" 6 Now they said this to test him, that they might have something to accuse him of. But Jesus stooped down, and wrote on the ground with his finger. 7 But when they continued asking him, he looked up and said to them, "He who is without sin among you, let him throw the first stone at her." 8 Again he stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground. 9 But when they heard it, they went out one by one, beginning from the oldest, even to the last, and he was left alone with the woman where she was, in the middle. 10 Then Jesus, standing up, said to her, "Woman, where are they? Did no one condemn you?" 11 And she said, "No one, Lord." And Jesus said, "Neither do I condemn you. Go, and sin no more." 12 Again, therefore, Jesus spoke to them, saying, "I am the light of the world. He who follows me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the light of life." 13 The Pharisees therefore said to him, "You testify about yourself. Your testimony is not valid." 14 Jesus answered them, "Even if I testify about myself, my testimony is true, for I know where I came from, and where I am going; but you do not know where I came from, or where I am going. 15 You judge according to the flesh. I judge no one. 16 Even if I do judge, my judgment is true, for I am not alone, but I am with the Father who sent me. 17 It's also written in your Law that the testimony of two people is valid. 18 I am one who testifies about myself, and the Father who sent me testifies about me." 19 They said therefore to him, "Where is your Father?" Jesus answered, "You know neither me, nor my Father. If you knew me, you would know my Father also." 20 Jesus spoke these words in the treasury, as he taught in the temple. Yet no one arrested him, because his hour had not yet come. 21 Jesus said therefore again to them, "I am going away, and you will seek me, and you will die in your sins. Where I go, you cannot come." 22 The Jewish leaders therefore said, "Will he kill himself, that he says, 'Where I am going, you cannot come?'" 23 He said to them, "You are from beneath. I am from above. You are of this world. I am not of this world. 24 I said therefore to you that you will die in your sins; for unless you believe that I am he, you will die in your sins." 25 They said therefore to him, "Who are you?" Jesus said to them, "Just what I have been saying to you from the beginning. 26 I have many things to speak and to judge concerning you. However he who sent me is true; and the things which I heard from him, these I say to the world." 27 They did not understand that he spoke to them about the Father. 28 Jesus therefore said to them, "When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am he, and I do nothing of myself, but as the Father taught me, I say these things. 29 He who sent me is with me. The Father hasn't left me alone, for I always do the things that are pleasing to him." 30 As he spoke these things, many believed in him. 31 Jesus therefore said to those Judeans who had believed him, "If you remain in my word, then you are truly my disciples. 32 You will know the truth, and the truth will make you free." 33 They answered him, "We are Abraham's descendants, and have never been in bondage to anyone. How can you say, 'You will be made free?'" 34 Jesus answered them, "Truly I tell you, everyone who commits sin is the slave of sin. 35 A slave does not live in the house forever. A son remains forever. 36 So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. 37 I know that you are Abraham's descendants, yet you seek to kill me, because my word finds no place in you. 38 I say the things which I have seen with my Father; and you also do the things which you have heard from your father." 39 They answered him, "Our father is Abraham." Jesus said to them, "If you were Abraham's children, you would do the works of Abraham. 40 But now you seek to kill me, a man who has told you the truth, which I heard from God. Abraham did not do this. 41 You do the works of your father." They said to him, "We were not born of sexual immorality. We have one Father, God." 42 Therefore Jesus said to them, "If God were your father, you would love me, for I came out and have come from God. For I have not come of myself, but he sent me. 43 Why do you not understand my speech? Because you cannot hear my word. 44 You are of your father, the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks on his own; for he is a liar, and its father. 45 But because I tell the truth, you do not believe me. 46 Which of you convicts me of sin? If I tell the truth, why do you not believe me? 47 He who is of God hears the words of God. For this cause you do not hear, because you are not of God." 48 Then the Judeans answered him, "Do not we say well that you are a Samaritan, and have a demon?" 49 Jesus answered, "I do not have a demon, but I honor my Father, and you dishonor me. 50 But I do not seek my own glory. There is one who seeks and judges. 51 Truly, truly, I tell you, if a person keeps my word, he will never see death." 52 Then the Judeans said to him, "Now we know that you have a demon. Abraham died, and the prophets; and you say, 'If anyone keeps my word, he will never taste of death.' 53 Are you greater than our father, Abraham, who died? The prophets died. Who do you make yourself out to be?" 54 Jesus answered, "If I glorify myself, my glory is nothing. It is my Father who glorifies me, of whom you say 'He is our God.' 55 You have not known him, but I know him. If I said, 'I do not know him,' I would be like you, a liar. But I know him, and keep his word. 56 Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day. He saw it, and was glad." 57 The Judeans therefore said to him, "You are not yet fifty years old, and have you seen Abraham?" 58 Jesus said to them, "Truly, truly, I tell you, before Abraham came into existence, I AM." 59 Therefore they took up stones to throw at him, but Jesus was concealed, and went out of the temple.

I know that the testimony which he testifies about me is true. 33 You have sent to John, and he has testified to the truth. 34 But the testimony which I receive is not from man. However, I say these things that you may be saved. 35 He was the burning and shining lamp, and you were willing to rejoice for a while in his light. 36 But the testimony which I have is greater than that of John, for the works which the Father gave me to accomplish, the very works that I do, testify about me, that the Father has sent me. 37 The Father himself, who sent me, has testified about me. You have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his form. 38 You do not have his word living in you; because you do not believe him whom he sent. 39 You search the Scriptures, because you think that in them you have everlasting life; and these are they which testify about me. 40 But you are unwilling to come to me so that you may have life. 41 I do not receive glory from people. 42 But I know you, that you do not have God's love in yourselves. 43 I have come in my Father's name, and you do not receive me. If another comes in his own name, you will receive him. 44 How can you believe, who receive glory from one another, and you do not seek the glory that comes from the only God? 45 "Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father. There is one who accuses you, even Moses, on whom you have set your hope. 46 For if you believed Moses, you would believe me; for he wrote about me. 47 But if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe my words?"

For I am in anguish in this flame.' 25 "But Abraham said, 'Son, remember that you, in your lifetime, received your good things, and Lazarus, in like manner, bad things. 19 whose end is destruction, whose god is the belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who think about earthly things. 20 For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ; 21 who will transform our lowly body into the likeness of his glorious body, according to the power by which he is able even to subject all things to himself.

James 3:15-17

15 This wisdom is not that which comes down from above, but is earthly, sensual, and demonic. 16 For where jealousy and selfish ambition are, there is confusion and every evil deed. 17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceful, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, without hypocrisy.

James 4:4

1 John 2:15-16

15 Do not love the world, neither the things that are in the world. If anyone loves the world, the Father's love is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not the Father's, but is the world's.

1 John 4:5-6

3 how will we escape if we neglect so great a salvation—which at the first having been spoken through the Lord, was confirmed to us by those who heard;

Hebrews 10:26-29

26 For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remains no more a sacrifice for sins, 27 but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and a fierceness of fire which will devour the adversaries. 28 Anyone who disregards the Law of Moses dies without compassion on the word of two or three witnesses. 29 How much worse punishment, do you think, will he be judged worthy of, who has trodden under foot the Son of God, and has counted the blood of the covenant with which he was sanctified an unholy thing, and has insulted the Spirit of grace?

John 1:22

22 They said therefore to him, "Who are you? Give us an answer to take back to those who sent us. What do you say about yourself?"

John 5:17-29

17 But he answered them, "My Father is still working, so I am working, too." 18 For this cause therefore the Jewish leaders sought all the more to kill him, because he not only broke the Sabbath, but also called God his own Father, making himself equal with God. 19 Jesus therefore answered them, "Truly, truly, I tell you, the Son can do nothing of himself, but what he sees the Father doing. For whatever things he does, these the Son also does likewise. 20 For the Father loves the Son, and shows him all things that he himself does. He will show him greater works than these, so that you may marvel. 21 For as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son also gives life to whom he desires. 22 For the Father judges no one, but he has given all judgment to the Son, 23 that all may honor the Son, even as they honor the Father. Whoever does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent him. 24 "Truly, truly, I tell you, he who hears my word, and believes him who sent me, has everlasting life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life. 25 Truly, truly, I tell you, the hour comes, and now is, when the dead will hear the Son of God's voice; and those who hear will live. 26 For as the Father has life in himself, even so he gave to the Son also to have life in himself. 27 He also gave him authority to execute judgment, because he is the Son of Man. 28 Do not be amazed at this, for the hour comes, in which all that are in the tombs will hear his voice, 29 and will come out; those who have done good, to the resurrection of life; and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of judgment.

John 10:24

24 The Jewish leaders therefore came around him and said to him, "How long will you keep us in suspense? If you are the Christ, tell us plainly."

9 He entered into the Praetorium again, and said to Jesus, "Where are you from?" But Jesus gave him no answer.

John 5:42-43

42 But I know you, that you do not have God's love in yourselves. 43 I have come in my Father's name, and you do not receive me. If another comes in his own name, you will receive him.

John 7:16

16 Jesus therefore answered them, "My teaching is not mine, but his who sent me.

John 8:16-17

16 Even if I do judge, my judgment is true, for I am not alone, but I am with the Father who sent me. 17 It's also written in your Law that the testimony of two people is valid.

40 But now you seek to kill me, a man who has told you the truth, which I heard from God. Abraham did not do this.

John 12:47-50

47 And if anyone hears my words and does not keep them, I do not judge him. For I came not to judge the world, but to save the world. 48 He who rejects me, and does not accept my words, has one who judges him. The word that I spoke will judge him on the last day. 49 For I spoke not from myself, but the Father who sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak. 50 I know that his commandment is everlasting life. The things therefore which I speak, even as the Father has said to me, so I speak."

John 15:15

15 No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing. But I have called you friends, for everything that I heard from my Father I have made known to you.

18 But as God is faithful, our word toward you is not "Yes and no."

Hebrews 5:11-12

11 About him we have many words to say, and hard to interpret, seeing you have become dull of hearing. 12 For when by reason of the time you ought to be teachers, you again need to have someone teach you the rudiments of the first principles of the oracles of God. You have come to need milk, not solid food.

Romans 11:7-10

7 What then? That which Israel seeks for, that he did not obtain, but the chosen ones obtained it, and the rest were hardened. 8 According as it is written, God gave them a spirit of stupor, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear, to this very day. 9 David says, "Let their table be made a snare, and a trap, and a stumbling block, and a retribution to them. 10 Let their eyes be darkened, so that they can't see, and their backs be bent continually."

2 Corinthians 4:3-4

3 Even if our Good News is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing; 4 in whom the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving, so they would not see the light of the glorious Good News of Christ, who is the image of God.

Numbers 16:28-30

28 Moses said, "Hereby you shall know that the LORD has sent me to do all these works; for they are not from my own mind. 29 If these men die the common death of all men, or if they be visited after the visitation of all men; then the LORD hasn't sent me. 30 But if the LORD make a new thing, and the ground open its mouth, and swallow them up, with all that appertain to them, and they go down alive into Sheol; then you shall understand that these men have despised the LORD."

Matthew 27:50-54

50 And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice, and yielded up his spirit. 51 And look, the veil of the temple was torn in two from the top to the bottom. The earth quaked and the rocks were split. 52 The tombs were opened, and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised; 53 and coming out of the tombs after his resurrection, they entered into the holy city and appeared to many. 54 Now the centurion, and those who were with him watching Jesus, when they saw the earthquake, and the things that were done, feared exceedingly, saying, "Truly this was the Son of God."

Hebrews 2:2-3

2 For if the word spoken through angels proved steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompense; 3 how will we escape if we neglect so great a salvation—which at the first having been spoken through the Lord, was confirmed to us by those who heard;

4 The LORD has given me the tongue of those who are taught, that I may know how to sustain with a word him who is weary: he wakens morning by morning, he wakens my ear to hear as those who are taught. 5 The Lord GOD has opened my ear, and I was not rebellious, neither turned away backward. 6 I gave my back to those who strike, and my cheeks to those who tore out my beard; I did not cover my face from insults and spitting. 7 For the LORD will help me; therefore I have not been confounded: therefore have I set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be disappointed. 8 He is near who justifies me; who will bring charges against me? Let us stand up together: who is my adversary? Let him come near to me. 9 Look, the LORD will help me; who is he who shall condemn me? Look, all they shall wax old as a garment, the moth shall eat them up.

Hebrews 7:1-7

1 For this Melchizedek, king of Salem, priest of God Most High, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings and blessed him, 2 to whom also Abraham divided "a tenth part of everything" (being first, by interpretation, king of righteousness, and then also king of Salem, which is king of peace; 3 without father, without mother, without genealogy, having neither beginning of days nor end of life, but made like the Son of God), remains a priest continually. 4 Now consider how great this man was, to whom even Abraham, the patriarch, gave a tenth out of the most valuable plunder. 5 They indeed of the sons of Levi who receive the priest's office have a commandment to take tithes of the people according to the Law, that is, of their brothers, though these have come out of the body of Abraham, 6 but he whose genealogy is not counted from them has accepted tithes from Abraham, and has blessed him who has the promises. 7 But without any dispute the lesser is blessed by the greater.

Psalms 2:6-12

6 "But I myself have installed my king on Zion, my holy mountain." 7 I will tell of the decree. The LORD said to me, "You are my son. Today I have become your father. 8 Ask of me, and I will give the nations as your inheritance, and the farthest parts of the earth for your possession. 9 You shall rule them with an iron scepter. You shall dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel." 10 Now therefore, you kings, be wise; receive correction, you judges of the earth. 11 Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling. 12 Do homage in purity, lest he be angry, and you perish in the way, when his anger is suddenly kindled. Blessed are all those who take refuge in him.

Psalms 110:1-4

1 [A Psalm by David.] The LORD says to my Lord, "Sit at my right hand, until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet." 2 The LORD will send forth the rod of your strength out of Zion. Rule in the midst of your enemies. 3 Your people offer themselves willingly on the day of your power. On the holy mountains at sunrise the dew of your youth will be yours. 4 The LORD has sworn, and will not change his mind: "You are a priest forever in the order of Melchizedek."

Romans 2:17-29

17 But if you call yourself a Jew, and rely on the law, and boast in God, 18 and know his will, and approve the things that are excellent, being instructed out of the law, 19 and are confident that you yourself are a guide of the blind, a light to those who are in darkness, 20 a corrector of the foolish, a teacher of children, having in the law the embodiment of knowledge and truth. 21 You therefore who teach another, do you not teach yourself? You who preach against stealing, do you steal? 22 You who say that one should not commit adultery, do you commit adultery? You who detest idols, do you rob temples? 23 You who boast in the law, do you, by disobeying the law, dishonor God? 24 For because of you the name of God is blasphemed among the nations, just as it is written. 25 For circumcision indeed profits, if you are a doer of the law, but if you are a transgressor of the law, your circumcision has become uncircumcision. 26 If therefore the uncircumcised keep the requirements of the law, won't his uncircumcision be counted as circumcision? 27 Won't the uncircumcision which is by nature, if it fulfills the law, judge you, who with the letter and circumcision are a transgressor of the law?
