¹ In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

¹ In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

⁶ Your throne, God, is forever and ever. A scepter of equity is the scepter of your kingdom.

²² "The LORD created me in the beginning of his way, before his works of old. ²³ I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, before the earth existed. ²⁴ When there were no depths, I was brought forth, when there were no springs abounding with water. ²⁵ Before the mountains were settled in place, before the hills, I was brought forth; ²⁶ while as yet he had not made the earth, nor the fields, nor the beginning of the dust of the world. ²⁷ When he established the heavens, I was there; when he set a circle on the surface of the deep, ²⁸ when he established the clouds above, when the springs of the deep became strong, ²⁹ when he gave to the sea its boundary, that the waters should not violate his commandment, when he marked out the foundations of the earth; ³⁰ then I was the craftsman by his side. ¹⁴ Therefore the LORD himself will give you a sign. Look, the virgin will conceive, and bear a son, and they will call his name Immanuel.

⁶ For to us a child is born. To us a son is given; and the government will be on his shoulders, and his name is called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

⁹ You who tell good news to Zion, go up on a high mountain. You who tell good news to Jerusalem, lift up your voice with strength. Lift it up. Do not be afraid. Say to the cities of Judah, "Look, your God." ¹⁰ Look, the LORD will come as a mighty one, and his arm will rule for him. Look, his reward is with him, and his recompense before him. ¹¹ He will feed his flock like a shepherd. He will gather the lambs in his arm, and carry them in his bosom. He will gently lead those who have their young.

²³ "Look, the virgin will conceive and bear a son, and they will call his name Immanuel;" which is translated, "God with us."

¹⁴ And the Word became flesh and lived among us, and we saw his glory, such glory as of the one and only of the Father, full of grace and truth.
