¹ "Surely there is a mine for silver, and a place for gold which they refine. ² Iron is taken out of the earth, and copper is smelted out of the ore. ³ Man sets an end to darkness, and searches out, to the furthest bound, the stones of obscurity and of thick darkness. ⁴ He breaks open a shaft away from where people live. They are forgotten by the foot. They hang far from men, they swing back and forth. ⁵ As for the earth, out of it comes bread; Underneath it is turned up as it were by fire. ⁶ Sapphires come from its rocks. It has dust of gold. ⁷ That path no bird of prey knows, neither has the falcon's eye seen it. ⁸ The proud animals have not trodden it, nor has the fierce lion passed by there. ⁹ He puts forth his hand on the flinty rock, and he overturns the mountains by the roots. ¹⁰ He cuts out channels among the rocks. His eye sees every precious thing. ¹¹ He binds the streams that they do not trickle. The thing that is hidden he brings forth to light. ¹² "But where shall wisdom be found? Where is the place of understanding? ¹³ Man doesn't know its price; Neither is it found in the land of the living. ¹⁴ The deep says, 'It isn't in me.' The sea says, 'It isn't with me.' ¹⁵ It can't be gotten for gold, neither shall silver be weighed for its price. ¹⁶ It can't be valued with the gold of Ophir, with the precious onyx, or the sapphire. ¹⁷ Gold and glass can't equal it, neither shall it be exchanged for jewels of fine gold. ¹⁸ No mention shall be made of coral or of crystal. Yes, the price of wisdom is above rubies. ¹⁹ The topaz of Ethiopia shall not equal it, Neither shall it be valued with pure gold. ²⁰ From where then comes wisdom? Where is the place of understanding? ²¹ Seeing it is hidden from the eyes of all living, and kept close from the birds of the sky. ²² Destruction and Death say, 'We have heard a rumor of it with our ears.' ²³ "God understands its way, and he knows its place. ²⁴ For he looks to the farthest parts of the earth, and sees under the whole sky. ²⁵ He establishes the force of the wind. Yes, he measures out the waters by measure. ²⁶ When he made a decree for the rain, and a way for the lightning of the thunder; ²⁷ then he saw it, and declared it. He established it, yes, and searched it out. ²⁸ To man he said, 'Look, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom. To depart from evil is understanding.'"

¹¹ The name of the first is Pishon; this is the one which goes around the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold; ¹² and the gold of that land is good. There is aromatic resin and the onyx stone.

¹⁵ "My lord, listen to me. What is a piece of land worth four hundred shekels of silver between me and you? Therefore bury your dead."

²² It happened, as the camels had finished drinking, that the man took a gold ring weighing a beka, which he put on her nose, and two bracelets for her hands weighing ten [shekels] of gold,

⁴⁸ Solomon made all the vessels that were in the house of the LORD: the golden altar, and the table whereupon the show bread was, of gold; ⁴⁹ and the lampstands, five on the right side, and five on the left, before the inner sanctuary, of pure gold; and the flowers, and the lamps, and the tongs, of gold; ⁵⁰ and the cups, and the snuffers, and the basins, and the spoons, and the fire pans, of pure gold; and the hinges, both for the doors of the inner house, the most holy place, and for the doors of the house, of the temple, of gold.

²¹ And all king Solomonʼs drinking vessels were of gold, and washing vessels were of gold, and all the vessels of the house of the forest of Lebanon were of pure gold. None were of silver; it was not considered anything in the days of Solomon.

² Now I have prepared with all my might for the house of my God the gold for the things of gold, and the silver for the things of silver, and the bronze for the things of bronze, the iron for the things of iron, and wood for the things of wood; onyx stones, and stones to be set, stones for inlaid work, and of various colors, and all kinds of precious stones, and marble stones in abundance. ³ In addition, because I have set my affection on the house of my God, since I have a treasure of my own of gold and silver, I give it to the house of my God, over and above all that I have prepared for the holy house, ⁴ even three thousand talents of gold, of the gold of Ophir, and seven thousand talents of refined silver, with which to overlay the walls of the houses; ⁵ of gold for the things of gold, and of silver for the things of silver, and for all kinds of work to be made by the hands of artisans. Who then offers willingly to consecrate himself this day to the LORD?"

⁶ The words of the LORD are flawless words, as silver refined in a clay furnace, purified seven times.

³ The refining pot is for silver, and the furnace for gold, but the LORD tests the hearts.

²¹ The crucible is for silver, and the furnace for gold; but man is refined by his praise.

¹⁰ Look, I have refined you, but not as silver; I have chosen you in the furnace of affliction.

⁹ I will bring the third part into the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will test them like gold is tested. They will call on my name, and I will hear them. I will say, 'It is my people;' and they will say, 'The LORD is my God.'"

² But who can endure the day of his coming? And who will stand when he appears? For he is coming like a refiner's fire, and like launderer's soap. ³ And he will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver, and he will purify the sons of Levi, and refine them as gold and silver; and they shall offer to the LORD offerings in righteousness.

⁷ that the genuineness of your faith, which is more precious than gold that perishes even though it is tested by fire, may be found to result in praise, glory, and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ—

²² Zillah also gave birth to Tubal Cain, who heated metal and shaped instruments of bronze and iron. Tubal Cain's sister was Naamah.

²² however the gold, and the silver, the bronze, the iron, the tin, and the lead,

⁹ a land in which you shall eat bread without scarcity, and in which you will lack nothing; a land whose stones are iron, and out of whose hills you may dig copper.

¹⁴ Now, look, in my affliction I have prepared for the house of the LORD one hundred thousand talents of gold, one million talents of silver, and bronze and iron without weight; for it is in abundance. I have also prepared timber and stone; and you may add to them.

²¹ before I go where I shall not return from, to the land of darkness and of the shadow of death; ²² the land dark as midnight, of the shadow of death, without any order, where the light is as midnight.'"

²² He uncovers deep things out of darkness, and brings out to light the shadow of death.

¹⁶ "Have you entered into the springs of the sea? Or have you walked in the recesses of the deep? ¹⁷ Have the gates of death been revealed to you? Or have you seen the gates of the shadow of death?

⁴ If you seek her as silver, and search for her as for hidden treasures:

¹³ I applied my heart to seek and to search out by wisdom concerning all that is done under the sky. It is a heavy burden that God has given to the sons of men to be afflicted with.

¹³ Look, isn't it of the LORD of hosts that the peoples labor for the fire, and the nations weary themselves for vanity?

³³ But seek first the Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

⁸ "His lord commended the dishonest manager for his shrewdness, for the people of this age are more shrewd in dealing with their own generation than the people of light.

¹¹ And God said, "Let the earth produce vegetation, plants yielding seed after its kind, and fruit trees bearing fruit with seed in it after its kind, on the earth." And it was so. ¹² And the earth brought forth vegetation, plants yielding seed after its kind, and fruit trees bearing fruit with seed in it after its kind, on the earth. And God saw that it was good.

²⁹ And God said, "Look, I have given you every plant yielding seed, which is on the surface of all the earth, and every tree, which bears fruit yielding seed. It will be your food.

¹⁴ He causes the grass to grow for the livestock, and plants for man to cultivate, that he may bring forth food out of the earth: ¹⁵ wine that makes glad the heart of man, oil to make his face to shine, and bread that strengthens man's heart.

²⁵ When he has leveled its surface, doesn't he plant the dill, and scatter the cumin seed, and put in the wheat in rows, the barley in the appointed place, and emmer as its borders? ²⁶ For his God instructs him in right judgment, and teaches him. ²⁷ For the dill are not threshed with a sharp instrument, neither is a cart wheel turned over the cumin; but the dill is beaten out with a stick, and the cumin with a rod. ²⁸ Bread flour must be ground; so he will not always be threshing it. Although he drives the wheel of his threshing cart over it, his horses do not grind it. ²⁹ This also comes forth from the LORD of hosts, who is wonderful in counsel, and excellent in wisdom.

¹³ You were in Eden, the garden of God; every precious stone adorned you: ruby, topaz, emerald, chrysolite, onyx, jasper, sapphire, turquoise, and beryl. Gold work of tambourines and of pipes was in you. In the day that you were created they were prepared. ¹⁴ You were the anointed cherub who covers: and I set you, so that you were on the holy mountain of God; you have walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire.

¹⁰ They saw the God of Israel. Under his feet was like a paved work of sapphire stone, like the skies for clearness.

¹⁶ It can't be valued with the gold of Ophir, with the precious onyx, or the sapphire.

¹⁴ His hands are like rings of gold set with beryl. His body is like ivory work overlaid with sapphires.

¹¹ "You afflicted, tossed with storms, and not comforted, look, I will set your stones in beautiful colors, and lay your foundations with sapphires.

¹⁹ The foundations of the city's wall were adorned with all kinds of precious stones. The first foundation was jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, chalcedony; the fourth, emerald;

⁶ that he would show you the secrets of wisdom. For true wisdom has two sides. Know therefore that God exacts of you less than your iniquity deserves.

¹⁹ "What is the way to the dwelling of light? As for darkness, where is its place,

²⁴ By what way is the lightning distributed, or the east wind scattered on the earth?

³³ Oh the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and the knowledge of God. How unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past tracing out.

⁴ He rebukes the sea, and makes it dry, and dries up all the rivers. Bashan languishes, and Carmel; and the flower of Lebanon languishes. ⁵ The mountains quake before him, and the hills melt away. The earth trembles at his presence, yes, the world, and all who dwell in it. ⁶ Who can stand before his indignation? Who can endure the fierceness of his anger? His wrath is poured out like fire, and the rocks are broken apart by him.

²³ In all hard work there is profit, but the talk of the lips leads only to poverty.

⁴ by knowledge the rooms are filled with all rare and beautiful treasure.

⁹ You uncovered your bow. You called for your sworn arrows. Selah. You split the earth with rivers.

⁸ He binds up the waters in his thick clouds, and the cloud is not burst under them.

²⁵ I have dug and drunk water, and with the sole of my feet I will dry up all the rivers of Egypt."

²⁷ who says to the deep, 'Be dry,' and 'I will dry up your rivers;'

² "I will go before you, and make the mountains level. I will break the doors of bronze in pieces, and cut apart the bars of iron. ³ I will give you the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of secret places, that you may know that it is I, the LORD, who call you by your name, even the God of Israel.

⁵ Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord comes, who will both bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and reveal the counsels of the hearts. Then each one will get his praise from God.

⁹ Give your servant therefore an understanding heart to judge your people, that I may discern between good and evil; for who is able to judge this your great people?"

²⁰ From where then comes wisdom? Where is the place of understanding?

²⁸ To man he said, 'Look, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom. To depart from evil is understanding.'"

⁶ Look, you desire truth in the inward parts. You teach me wisdom in the inmost place.

⁴ If you seek her as silver, and search for her as for hidden treasures: ⁵ then you will understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God. ⁶ For the LORD gives wisdom. Out of his mouth comes knowledge and understanding.

¹⁹ By wisdom the LORD founded the earth. By understanding, he established the heavens.

²³ All this have I proved in wisdom. I said, "I will be wise;" but it was far from me. ²⁴ That which is, is far off and exceedingly deep. Who can find it out? ²⁵ I turned around, and my heart sought to know and to search out, and to seek wisdom and the scheme of things, and to know that wickedness is stupidity, and that foolishness is madness.

¹⁹ For it is written, "I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and the discernment of the discerning I will nullify." ²⁰ Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Hasn't God made foolish the wisdom of the world?

³ in whom are all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge hidden.

⁵ But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without finding fault; and it will be given to him.

¹⁷ All generous giving and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom can be no variation, nor turning shadow.

¹⁵ It can't be gotten for gold, neither shall silver be weighed for its price. ¹⁶ It can't be valued with the gold of Ophir, with the precious onyx, or the sapphire. ¹⁷ Gold and glass can't equal it, neither shall it be exchanged for jewels of fine gold. ¹⁸ No mention shall be made of coral or of crystal. ¹⁰ More to be desired are they than gold, yes, than much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and the extract of the honeycomb.

⁵ God will likewise destroy you forever. He will take you up, and pluck you out of your tent, and root you out of the land of the living. Selah.

⁷² The Law you have spoken is better to me than thousands of pieces of gold and silver.

¹⁴ For her good profit is better than getting silver, and her return is better than fine gold. ¹⁵ She is more precious than rubies. None of the things you can desire are to be compared to her.

¹¹ For wisdom is better than rubies. All the things that may be desired can't be compared to it.

¹⁸ With me are riches, honor, enduring wealth, and prosperity. ¹⁹ My fruit is better than gold, yes, than fine gold; my yield than choice silver.

¹⁶ How much better it is to get wisdom than gold. Yes, to get understanding is to be chosen rather than silver.

²³ Buy the truth, and do not sell it. Get wisdom, discipline, and understanding.

¹⁶ When I applied my heart to know wisdom, and to see the business that is done on the earth (for also there is that neither day nor night sees sleep with his eyes), ¹⁷ then I saw all the work of God, that man can't find out the work that is done under the sun, because however much a man labors to seek it out, yet he won't find it. Yes even though a wise man thinks he can comprehend it, he won't be able to find it.

¹¹ I said, "I won't see the LORD in the land of the living. I will not look on humankind any longer with the inhabitants of the world.

⁸ In his oppression his justice was taken away. Who will consider his generation? For his life was cut off from the earth. For the transgression of my people he was led to death.

⁴⁴ "The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure hidden in the field, which a man found, and hid. In his joy, he goes and sells all that he has, and buys that field. ⁴⁵ "Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a man who is a merchant seeking fine pearls, ⁴⁶ and having found one pearl of great price, he went and sold all that he had, and bought it.

³³ Oh the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and the knowledge of God. How unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past tracing out. ³⁴ For "Who has known the mind of the Lord, or who has been his counselor?"

¹⁸ No mention shall be made of coral or of crystal. Yes, the price of wisdom is above rubies.

¹³ Blessed is the man who finds wisdom, the man who gets understanding.

¹⁰ Receive my instruction rather than silver; knowledge rather than choice gold. ¹¹ For wisdom is better than rubies. All the things that may be desired can't be compared to it.

¹⁷ I love those who love me. Those who seek me diligently will find me.

¹⁹ My fruit is better than gold, yes, than fine gold; my yield than choice silver.

²⁰ and the fourth row a chrysolite, an onyx, and a jasper: they shall be enclosed in gold in their settings.

⁴ even three thousand talents of gold, of the gold of Ophir, and seven thousand talents of refined silver, with which to overlay the walls of the houses;

⁹ Kings' daughters are among your honorable women. At your right hand the queen stands in gold of Ophir.

¹² I will make people more rare than fine gold, even a person than the pure gold of Ophir.

²² And over the heads of the living creatures there was the likeness of an expanse, like glittering ice, it was awesome to look upon, stretched out over their heads above.

⁶ Before the throne was something like a sea of glass, similar to crystal. In the midst of the throne, and around the throne were four living creatures full of eyes before and behind.

¹¹ having the glory of God. Her light was like a most precious stone, as if it was a jasper stone, clear as crystal;

¹ He showed me a river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb,

¹⁵ She is more precious than rubies. None of the things you can desire are to be compared to her.

⁹ In the same way, that women also adorn themselves in decent clothing, with modesty and propriety; not just with braided hair, gold, pearls, or expensive clothing;

⁴ The woman was dressed in purple and scarlet, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having in her hand a golden cup full of abominations and the impurities of her sexual immorality.

¹² merchandise of gold, silver, precious stones, pearls, fine linen, purple, silk, scarlet, all expensive wood, every vessel of ivory, every vessel made of most precious wood, and of bronze, and iron, and marble;

⁶ We speak wisdom, however, among those who are mature, but a wisdom not of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are passing away. ⁷ But we speak God's wisdom in a mystery, the wisdom that has been hidden, which God determined in advance before the ages for our glory, ⁸ which none of the rulers of this age has understood. For had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. ⁹ But as it is written, No eye has seen, and no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined the things which God has prepared for those who love him. ¹⁰ But to us God revealed it through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. ¹¹ For what person knows the things of a person except the spirit of the person that is in him? So also, no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God. ¹² But we received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit which is from God, that we might know the things that were freely given to us by God. ¹³ And we speak of these things, not with words taught by human wisdom, but with those taught by the Spirit, comparing spiritual things with spiritual things. ¹⁴ Now the natural person does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned. ¹⁵ But he who is spiritual discerns all things, and he himself is judged by no one.

³ My mouth will speak words of wisdom. My heart shall utter understanding. ⁴ I will incline my ear to a proverb. I will open my riddle on the harp.

²⁵ At that time, Jesus answered, "I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you hid these things from the wise and intelligent, and revealed them to little children.

¹⁷ For truly I tell you that many prophets and righteous people desired to see the things which you see, and did not see them; and to hear the things which you hear, and did not hear them.

³⁵ that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through the prophet, saying, "I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things hidden since the beginning of the world."

⁷ But we speak God's wisdom in a mystery, the wisdom that has been hidden, which God determined in advance before the ages for our glory, ⁸ which none of the rulers of this age has understood. ⁷ The LORD's Law is perfect, restoring the soul. The LORD's testimony is sure, making wise the simple.

⁵ Great is our Lord, and mighty in power. His understanding is infinite.

¹⁴ Counsel and sound knowledge are mine. I have understanding and power.

²² "The LORD created me in the beginning of his way, before his works of old. ²³ I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, before the earth existed. ²⁴ When there were no depths, I was brought forth, when there were no springs abounding with water. ²⁵ Before the mountains were settled in place, before the hills, I was brought forth; ²⁶ while as yet he had not made the earth, nor the fields, nor the beginning of the dust of the world. ²⁷ When he established the heavens, I was there; when he set a circle on the surface of the deep, ²⁸ when he established the clouds above, when the springs of the deep became strong, ²⁹ when he gave to the sea its boundary, that the waters should not violate his commandment, when he marked out the foundations of the earth; ³⁰ then I was the craftsman by his side. I was a delight day by day, always rejoicing before him, ³¹ Rejoicing in his whole world. My delight was with the sons of men.

²⁷ All things have been delivered to me by my Father. No one knows the Son, except the Father; neither does anyone know the Father, except the Son, and he to whom the Son desires to reveal him.

²¹ In that same hour he rejoiced in the Holy Spirit, and said, "I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for so it was well-pleasing in your sight." ²² "All things have been delivered to me by my Father. No one knows who the Son is, except the Father, and who the Father is, except the Son, and he to whomever the Son desires to reveal him."

¹⁸ known from long ago.'

³⁰ And because of him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification and redemption,

²⁵ to the only God our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and forever. Amen.

⁹ For the eyes of the LORD run back and forth throughout the whole earth, to show himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him. Herein you have done foolishly; for from now on you shall have wars."

¹³ The LORD looks from heaven. He sees all the descendants of Adam. ¹⁴ From the place of his habitation he looks out on all the inhabitants of the earth,

³ The eyes of the LORD are everywhere, keeping watch on the evil and the good.

¹⁰ Indeed, who despises the day of small things? For these seven shall rejoice, and shall see the plumb line in the hand of Zerubbabel. These are the eyes of the LORD, which run back and forth through the whole earth."

⁶ I saw in the midst of the throne and of the four living creatures, and in the midst of the elders, a Lamb standing, as though it had been slain, having seven horns, and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God, sent out into all the earth.

¹⁵ Look, he withholds the waters, and they dry up. Again, he sends them out, and they overturn the earth.

⁷ who causes the clouds to rise from the farthest parts of the earth; who makes lightnings with the rain; who brings forth the wind out of his treasuries;

¹² Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, and marked off the sky with his span, and calculated the dust of the earth in a measure, and weighed the mountains in scales, and the hills in a balance?

²⁶ Look, God is great, and we do not know him. The number of his years is unsearchable.

³² He covers his hands with the lightning, and commands it to strike the mark.

³ He sends it forth under the whole sky, and his lightning to the farthest parts of the earth.

¹¹ Yes, he loads the thick cloud with moisture. He spreads abroad the cloud of his lightning.

²⁵ Who has cut a channel for the flood water, or the path for the thunderstorm;

²⁷ to satisfy the waste and desolate ground, to cause the tender grass to spring forth?

³ The voice of the LORD is on the waters. The God of glory thunders, even the LORD on many waters. ⁴ The voice of the LORD is powerful. The voice of the LORD is full of majesty. ⁵ The voice of the LORD breaks the cedars. Yes, the LORD breaks in pieces the cedars of Lebanon. ⁶ He makes them also to skip like a calf; Lebanon and Sirion like a young, wild ox. ⁷ The voice of the LORD strikes with flashes of lightning. ⁸ The voice of the LORD shakes the wilderness. The LORD shakes the wilderness of Kadesh. ⁹ The voice of the LORD makes the large trees tremble, and strips the forests bare. In his temple everything says, "Glory." ¹⁰ The LORD sat enthroned at the Flood. Yes, the LORD sits as King forever.

⁸ Lightning and hail, snow and clouds; stormy wind, fulfilling his word;

²² Are there any among the vanities of the nations that can cause rain? Or can the sky give showers? Aren't you he, LORD our God? Therefore we will wait for you; for you have made all these things."

⁷ "I also have withheld the rain from you, when there were yet three months to the harvest; and I caused it to rain on one city, and caused it not to rain on another city. One place was rained on, and the piece where it did not rain withered.

¹ Ask of the LORD rain in the spring time, The LORD who makes lightnings, and he gives rain showers to everyone for the plants in the field.

²² "The LORD created me in the beginning of his way, before his works of old. ²³ I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, before the earth existed. ²⁴ When there were no depths, I was brought forth, when there were no springs abounding with water. ²⁵ Before the mountains were settled in place, before the hills, I was brought forth; ²⁶ while as yet he had not made the earth, nor the fields, nor the beginning of the dust of the world. ²⁷ When he established the heavens, I was there; when he set a circle on the surface of the deep, ²⁸ when he established the clouds above, when the springs of the deep became strong, ²⁹ when he gave to the sea its boundary, that the waters should not violate his commandment, when he marked out the foundations of the earth;

⁶ Keep therefore and do them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the peoples, who shall hear all these statutes, and say, "Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people."

²⁹ The secret things belong to the LORD our God; but the things that are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law.

¹⁴ Turn away from evil, and do good. Seek peace, and pursue it.

¹⁰ The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom. All those who do his work have a good understanding. His praise endures forever.

⁷ The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge; but the foolish despise wisdom and instruction.

⁷ Do not be wise in your own eyes. Fear the LORD, and depart from evil.

⁴ "To you men, I call. I send my voice to the sons of humankind. ⁵ You simple, understand prudence. You fools, be of an understanding heart.

²⁶ while as yet he had not made the earth, nor the fields, nor the beginning of the dust of the world. ²⁷ When he established the heavens, I was there; when he set a circle on the surface of the deep, ²⁸ when he established the clouds above, when the springs of the deep became strong, ²⁹ when he gave to the sea its boundary, that the waters should not violate his commandment, when he marked out the foundations of the earth; ³⁰ then I was the craftsman by his side. I was a delight day by day, always rejoicing before him, ³¹ Rejoicing in his whole world. My delight was with the sons of men. ³² "Now therefore, son, listen to me, for blessed are those who keep my ways.

¹⁰ The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom. The knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.

¹⁴ The teaching of the wise is a spring of life, to turn from the snares of death.

¹⁷ The highway of the upright is to depart from evil. He who keeps his way preserves his soul.

¹³ This is the end of the matter. All has been heard. Fear God, and keep his commandments; for this is the whole duty of man.

¹⁶ Wash yourselves, make yourself clean. Put away the evil of your doings from before my eyes. Cease to do evil.

¹⁹ However God's firm foundation stands, having this seal, "The Lord knows those who are his," and, "Let every one who names the name of the Lord depart from unrighteousness."

¹³ Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show by his good conduct that his deeds are done in gentleness of wisdom. ¹⁴ But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your heart, do not boast and do not lie against the truth. ¹⁵ This wisdom is not that which comes down from above, but is earthly, sensual, and demonic. ¹⁶ For where jealousy and selfish ambition are, there is confusion and every evil deed. ¹⁷ But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceful, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, without hypocrisy.

¹¹ Let him turn away from evil, and do good. Let him seek peace, and pursue it.
