¹ Blessed is the one who doesn't follow the advice of the wicked, or take the path of sinners, or join in with scoffers. ² But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night. ³ He will be like a tree planted by the streams of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also does not wither, and whatever he does shall prosper. ⁴ Not so with the wicked; instead, they are like the chaff which the wind drives away from the surface of the ground. ⁵ Therefore the wicked shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. ⁶ For the LORD knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked shall perish.

²⁴ Hanoch walked with God, and then he was not there, for God took him.

⁶ May I never enter their council. May my honor never be joined with their assembly. For in their anger they killed men, and for pleasure they hamstrung oxen.

²⁷ "'If you in spite of this won't listen to me, but walk contrary to me; ²⁸ then I will walk contrary to you in wrath; and I also will chastise you seven times for your sins.

² and all these blessings shall come on you, and overtake you, if you shall listen to the voice of the LORD your God. ³ You shall be blessed in the city, and you shall be blessed in the field. ⁴ You shall be blessed in the fruit of your body, the fruit of your ground, the fruit of your animals, the increase of your livestock, and the young of your flock. ⁵ Your basket and your kneading trough shall be blessed. ⁶ You shall be blessed when you come in, and you shall be blessed when you go out. ⁷ The LORD will cause your enemies who rise up against you to be struck before you. They will come out against you one way, and will flee before you seven ways. ⁸ The LORD will command the blessing on you in your storehouses, and in all that you put your hand to; and he will bless you in the land which the LORD your God gives you. ⁹ The LORD will establish you for a holy people to himself, as he has sworn to you; if you shall keep the commandments of the LORD your God, and walk in his ways. ¹⁰ All the peoples of the earth shall see that you are called by the name of the LORD; and they shall be afraid of you. ¹¹ The LORD will make you plenteous for good, in the fruit of your body, and in the fruit of your livestock, and in the fruit of your ground, in the land which the LORD swore to your fathers to give you. ¹² The LORD will open to you his good treasure in the sky, to give the rain of your land in its season, and to bless all the work of your hand: and you shall lend to many nations, and you shall not borrow. ¹³ The LORD will make you the head, and not the tail; and you shall be above only, and you shall not be beneath; if you shall listen to the commandments of the LORD your God, which I command you this day, to observe and to do, ¹⁴ and shall not turn aside from any of the words which I command you this day, to the right hand, or to the left, to go after other gods to serve them. ¹⁵ But it shall come to pass, if you will not listen to the voice of the LORD your God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command you this day, that all these curses shall come on you, and overtake you. ¹⁶ You shall be cursed in the city, and you shall be cursed in the field. ¹⁷ Your basket and your kneading trough shall be cursed. ¹⁸ The fruit of your body, the fruit of your ground, the increase of your livestock, and the young of your flock shall be cursed. ¹⁹ You shall be cursed when you come in, and you shall be cursed when you go out. ²⁰ The LORD will send on you cursing, confusion, and rebuke, in all that you put your hand to do, until you are destroyed, and until you perish quickly; because of the evil of your doings, by which you have forsaken me. ²¹ The LORD will make the pestilence cling to you, until he has consumed you from off the land, where you go in to possess it. ²² The LORD will strike you with consumption, and with fever, and with inflammation, and with fiery heat, and with the sword, and with blight, and with mildew; and they shall pursue you until you perish. ²³ Your sky that is over your head shall be bronze, and the earth that is under you shall be iron. ²⁴ The LORD will make the rain of your land powder and dust: from the sky shall it come down on you, until you are destroyed. ²⁵ The LORD will cause you to be struck before your enemies; you shall go out one way against them, and shall flee seven ways before them: and you shall be tossed back and forth among all the kingdoms of the earth. ²⁶ Your dead body shall be food to all birds of the sky, and to the animals of the earth; and there shall be none to frighten them away. ²⁷ The LORD will strike you with the boil of Egypt, and with the tumors, and with the scurvy, and with the itch, of which you can not be healed. ²⁸ The LORD will strike you with madness, and with blindness, and with astonishment of heart; ²⁹ and you shall grope at noonday, as the blind gropes in darkness, and you shall not prosper in your ways: and you shall be only oppressed and robbed always, and there shall be none to save you. ³⁰ You shall betroth a wife, and another man shall lie with her: you shall build a house, and you shall not dwell in it: you shall plant a vineyard, and shall not use its fruit. ³¹ Your ox shall be slain before your eyes, and you shall not eat of it: your donkey shall be violently taken away from before your face, and shall not be restored to you: your sheep shall be given to your enemies, and you shall have none to save you. ³² Your sons and your daughters shall be given to another people; and your eyes shall look, and fail with longing for them all the day: and there shall be nothing in the power of your hand. ³³ The fruit of your ground, and all your labors, shall a nation which you do not know eat up; and you shall be only oppressed and crushed always; ³⁴ so that you shall be mad for the sight of your eyes which you shall see. ³⁵ The LORD will strike you in the knees, and in the legs, with a sore boil, of which you can not be healed, from the sole of your foot to the crown of your head. ³⁶ The LORD will bring you, and your king whom you shall set over you, to a nation that you have not known, you nor your fathers; and there you shall serve other gods, wood and stone. ³⁷ You shall become an astonishment, a proverb, and a byword, among all the peoples where the LORD shall lead you away. ³⁸ You shall carry much seed out into the field, and shall gather little in; for the locust shall consume it. ³⁹ You shall plant vineyards and dress them, but you shall neither drink of the wine, nor harvest; for the worm shall eat them. ⁴⁰ You shall have olive trees throughout all your borders, but you shall not anoint yourself with the oil; for your olives shall drop off. ⁴¹ You shall father sons and daughters, but they shall not be yours; for they shall go into captivity. ⁴² All your trees and the fruit of your ground shall the locust possess. ⁴³ The foreigner who is in the midst of you shall mount up above you higher and higher; and you shall come down lower and lower. ⁴⁴ He shall lend to you, and you shall not lend to him: he shall be the head, and you shall be the tail. ⁴⁵ All these curses shall come on you, and shall pursue you, and overtake you, until you are destroyed; because you did not listen to the voice of the LORD your God, to keep his commandments and his statutes which he commanded you: ⁴⁶ and they shall be on you for a sign and for a wonder, and on your descendants forever. ⁴⁷ Because you did not serve the LORD your God with joyfulness, and with gladness of heart, by reason of the abundance of all things; ⁴⁸ therefore you shall serve your enemies whom the LORD shall send against you, in hunger, and in thirst, and in nakedness, and in want of all things: and he shall put a yoke of iron on your neck, until he has destroyed you. ⁴⁹ The LORD will bring a nation against you from far away, from a distant land, as the eagle flies; a nation whose language you shall not understand; ⁵⁰ a nation of fierce facial expressions, that shall not respect the person of the old, nor show favor to the young, ⁵¹ and shall eat the fruit of your livestock, and the fruit of your ground, until you are destroyed; that also shall not leave you grain, new wine, or oil, the increase of your livestock, or the young of your flock, until they have caused you to perish. ⁵² They shall besiege you in all your gates, until your high and fortified walls come down, in which you trusted, throughout all your land; and they shall besiege you in all your gates throughout all your land, which the LORD your God has given you. ⁵³ You shall eat the fruit of your own body, the flesh of your sons and of your daughters, whom the LORD your God has given you, in the siege and in the distress with which your enemies shall distress you. ⁵⁴ The man who is tender among you, and very delicate, his eye shall be evil toward his brother, and toward the wife of his bosom, and toward the remnant of his children whom he has remaining; ⁵⁵ so that he will not give to any of them of the flesh of his children whom he shall eat, because he has nothing left him, in the siege and in the distress with which your enemy shall distress you in all your gates. ⁵⁶ The tender and delicate woman among you, who would not adventure to set the sole of her foot on the ground for delicateness and tenderness, her eye shall be evil toward the husband of her bosom, and toward her son, and toward her daughter, ⁵⁷ and toward her young one who comes out from between her feet, and toward her children whom she shall bear; for she shall eat them for want of all things secretly, in the siege and in the distress with which your enemy shall distress you in your gates. ⁵⁸ If you will not observe to do all the words of this law that are written in this book, that you may fear this glorious and fearful name, The LORD your God; ⁵⁹ then the LORD will make your plagues extraordinary, and the plagues of your descendants, even great plagues, and of long continuance, and severe sicknesses, and of long continuance. ⁶⁰ He will bring on you again all the diseases of Egypt, which you were afraid of; and they shall cling to you. ⁶¹ Also every sickness, and every plague, which is not written in the book of this law, the LORD will bring them on you, until you are destroyed. ⁶² You shall be left few in number, whereas you were as the stars of the sky for multitude; because you did not listen to the voice of the LORD your God. ⁶³ It shall happen that as the LORD rejoiced over you to do you good, and to multiply you, so the LORD will rejoice over you to cause you to perish, and to destroy you; and you shall be plucked from off the land where you go in to possess it. ⁶⁴ The LORD will scatter you among all peoples, from the one end of the earth even to the other end of the earth; and there you shall serve other gods, which you have not known, you nor your fathers, even wood and stone. ⁶⁵ Among these nations you shall find no ease, and there shall be no rest for the sole of your foot: but the LORD will give you there a trembling heart, and failing of eyes, and pining of soul; ⁶⁶ and your life shall hang in doubt before you; and you shall fear night and day, and shall have no assurance of your life. ⁶⁷ In the morning you shall say, "I wish it were evening." and at evening you shall say, "I wish it were morning." for the fear of your heart which you shall fear, and for the sight of your eyes which you shall see. ⁶⁸ The LORD will bring you into Egypt again with ships, by the way of which I said to you, You shall see it no more again: and there you shall sell yourselves to your enemies for bondservants and for bondmaids, and no man shall buy you.

²⁹ You are happy, Israel. Who is like you, a people saved by the LORD, the shield of your help, the sword of your excellency. Your enemies shall submit themselves to you. You shall tread on their high places."

³¹ It happened, as if it had been a light thing for him to walk in the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, that he took as wife Jezebel the daughter of Ethbaal king of the Sidonians, and went and served Baal, and worshiped him.

³ He also walked in the ways of the house of Ahab; for his mother was his counselor to do wickedly.

³ Is it good to you that you should oppress, that you should despise the work of your hands, and smile on the counsel of the wicked?

¹⁶ Look, their prosperity is not in their hand. The counsel of the wicked is far from me.

⁵ "If I have walked with falsehood, and my foot has hurried to deceit

⁶ For the LORD knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked shall perish.

¹² Do homage in purity, lest he be angry, and you perish in the way, when his anger is suddenly kindled. Blessed are all those who take refuge in him.

⁴ I have not sat with deceitful men, neither will I go in with hypocrites. ⁵ I hate the assembly of evildoers, and will not sit with the wicked.

¹² My foot stands in an even place. In the congregations I will bless the LORD.

¹ [By David. A contemplative psalm.] Happy are those whose transgressions are forgiven, and whose sins are covered. ² Happy is the one to whom the LORD does not charge with sin, in whose spirit there is no deceit.

⁸ Oh taste and see that the LORD is good. Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him.

⁴ He plots iniquity on his bed. He sets himself in a way that is not good. He doesn't abhor evil.

² Hide me from the conspiracy of the wicked, from the noisy crowd of the ones doing evil;

¹² So I let them go after the stubbornness of their hearts, that they might walk in their own counsels.

¹² LORD of hosts, blessed is the man who trusts in you.

³ Blessed are those who uphold justice, who practice righteousness at all times.

¹ Praise the LORD. Blessed is the man who fears the LORD, who delights greatly in his commandments.

¹² The LORD remembers us. He will bless us. He will bless the house of Israel. He will bless the house of Aaron. ¹³ He will bless those who fear the LORD, both small and great. ¹⁴ May the LORD increase you more and more, you and your children. ¹⁵ Blessed are you by the LORD, who made heaven and earth.

¹ ALEPH. Blessed are those whose ways are blameless, who walk according to the law of the LORD. ² Blessed are those who keep his decrees, who seek him with their whole heart.

¹¹⁵ Depart from me, you evildoers, that I may keep the commandments of my God.

¹⁵ Blessed are the people who are in such a situation. Blessed are the people whose God is the LORD.

⁵ Blessed is the one who has the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the LORD his God,

⁹ The LORD preserves the foreigners. He upholds the fatherless and widow, but the way of the wicked he turns upside down.

¹⁵ My son, do not walk in the way with them. Keep your foot from their path,

²² "How long, you simple ones, will you love simplicity? How long will mockers delight themselves in mockery, and fools hate knowledge?

¹² to deliver you from the way of evil, from the men who speak perverse things;

³⁴ Surely he is scornful to scoffers, but he gives grace to the humble.

¹⁴ Do not enter into the path of the wicked. Do not walk in the way of evil men. ¹⁵ Avoid it, and do not pass by it. Turn from it, and pass on.

¹⁹ The way of the wicked is like darkness. They do not know what they stumble over.

¹² If you are wise, you are wise for yourself. If you mock, you alone will bear it.

¹⁵ Good understanding brings favor; but the way of the unfaithful leads to calamity.

²⁰ One who walks with wise men grows wise, but a companion of fools suffers harm.

²⁹ Penalties are prepared for scoffers, and beatings for the backs of fools.

¹⁷ I did not sit in the assembly of those who make merry, nor rejoiced; I sat alone because of your hand; for you have filled me with indignation.

⁷ Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, and whose confidence is in the LORD.

¹⁸ "'"I said to their children in the wilderness, 'Do not walk in the statutes of your fathers, neither observe their ordinances, nor defile yourselves with their idols.

¹³ "Enter in by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and many are those who enter in by it. ¹⁴ How narrow is the gate, and difficult is the way that leads to life. Few are those who find it.

¹⁷ And Jesus answered him, "Blessed are you, Simon Bar Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father who is in heaven.

²⁸ But he said, "On the contrary, blessed are those who hear the word of God, and keep it."

¹⁷ If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them.

³⁴ Let your meditation be sweet to him. I will rejoice in the LORD.

¹ ALEPH. Blessed are those whose ways are blameless, who walk according to the law of the LORD.

¹¹ In my heart I have hidden your word, that I might not sin against you.

¹⁵ I will meditate on your precepts, and consider your ways. ¹⁶ I will delight myself in your statutes. I will not forget your word.

³⁵ Direct me in the path of your commandments, for I delight in them.

⁴⁷ I will delight myself in your commandments, because I love them. ⁴⁸ I reach out my hands for your commandments, which I love. I will meditate on your statutes.

⁷² The Law you have spoken is better to me than thousands of pieces of gold and silver.

⁹² Unless your Law had been my delight, I would have perished in my affliction.

¹⁶ Your words were found, and I ate them; and your words were to me a joy and the rejoicing of my heart: for I am called by your name, LORD, God of hosts.

⁷ Only be strong and very courageous, to observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded you. Do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may have good success wherever you go. ⁸ This book of the law shall not depart out of your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it: for then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall have good success.

¹¹ Now, my son, may the LORD be with you and prosper you, and build the house of the LORD your God, as he has spoken concerning you.

²¹ In every work that he began in the service of God's house, and in the law, and in the commandments, to seek his God, he did it with all his heart, and prospered.

²³ Many brought gifts to the LORD to Jerusalem, and precious things to Hezekiah king of Judah; so that he was exalted in the sight of all nations from thenceforth.

⁹ yet through the scent of water it will bud, and put forth boughs like a plant.

¹⁴ They will still bring forth fruit in old age. They will be full of sap and green,

² For you will eat the labor of your hands; you will be blessed, and it will be well with you.

⁸ Neither do those who go by say, "The blessing of the LORD be on you. We bless you in the name of the LORD."

¹⁰ Tell the righteous "Good." For they shall eat the fruit of their deeds.

¹¹ When its boughs are withered, they will be broken off. The women will come and set them on fire, for they are a people of no understanding. Therefore he who made them will not have compassion on them, and he who formed them will show them no favor.

⁴ and they will spring up among the grass, as willows by the watercourses.

⁸ For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, who spreads out its roots by the river, and shall not fear when heat comes, but its leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.

⁸ It was planted in a good soil by many waters, that it might bring forth branches, and that it might bear fruit, that it might be a goodly vine."'

¹⁰ "'Your mother was like a vine in your vineyard, planted by the waters: it was fruitful and full of branches by reason of many waters.

¹² By the river on its bank, on this side and on that side, shall grow every tree for food, whose leaf shall not wither, neither shall its fruit fail: it shall bring forth new fruit every month, because its waters issue out of the sanctuary; and its fruit shall be for food, and its leaf for healing."

⁶ But when the sun had risen, they were scorched. Because they had no root, they withered away.

¹⁹ Seeing a fig tree by the road, he came to it, and found nothing on it but leaves. He said to it, "Let there be no fruit from you forever." Immediately the fig tree withered away.

³⁴ When the season for the fruit drew near, he sent his servants to the tenants, to receive his fruit.

⁴¹ They told him, "He will utterly destroy those evil men, and will lease out the vineyard to other tenants, who will give him the fruit in its season."

⁶ If anyone does not remain in me, he is thrown out as a branch, and withers; and they gather them, throw them into the fire, and they are burned.

¹² These are hidden rocky reefs in your love feasts when they feast with you, shepherds who without fear feed themselves; clouds without water, carried along by winds; autumn leaves without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots;

² in the middle of its street. On this side of the river and on that was the tree of life, bearing twelve kinds of fruits, yielding its fruit every month. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.

¹⁸ How often is it that they are as stubble before the wind, as chaff that the storm carries away?

⁵ Let them be as chaff before the wind, The LORD's angel driving them on.

¹³ The nations will rush like the rushing of many waters: but he will rebuke them, and they will flee far off, and will be chased like the chaff of the mountains before the wind, and like the whirling dust before the storm.

⁵ But the multitude of your arrogant will be like fine dust, and the multitude of the ruthless ones like chaff that blows away. Yes, it will be in an instant, suddenly.

³ Therefore they will be like the morning mist, and like the dew that passes away early, like the chaff that is driven with the whirlwind out of the threshing floor, and like the smoke out of the chimney.

¹² His winnowing fork is in his hand, and he will thoroughly cleanse his threshing floor. He will gather his wheat into the barn, but the chaff he will burn up with unquenchable fire."

⁵ The arrogant shall not stand in your sight. You hate all evildoers.

⁷ But the LORD reigns forever. He has prepared his throne for judgment. ⁸ And he will judge the world in righteousness. He will judge the peoples with equity.

¹⁶ The LORD has made himself known. He has executed judgment. The wicked is snared by the work of his own hands. Higgaion. Selah.

³ Who may ascend to the LORD's hill? Who may stand in his holy place?

⁹ Do not gather my soul with sinners, nor my life with bloodthirsty men;

¹⁸ Then you shall return and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him who serves God and him who doesn't serve him.

⁴⁹ So will it be in the end of the world. The angels will come forth, and separate the wicked from among the righteous,

³² Before him all the nations will be gathered, and he will separate them one from another, as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.

⁴¹ Then he will say also to those on the left hand, 'Depart from me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire which is prepared for the devil and his angels;

⁴⁶ These will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into everlasting life."

³⁶ Therefore be watchful all the time, praying that you may be able to escape all these things that will happen, and to stand before the Son of Man."

¹⁵ to execute judgment on all, and to convict every person of all their works of ungodliness which they have done in an ungodly way, and of all the hard things which ungodly sinners have spoken against him."

¹⁰ But he knows the way that I take. When he has tried me, I shall come forth like gold.

⁶ The enemy is overtaken by endless ruin; and the very memory of the cities which you have overthrown has perished.

¹⁸ The LORD knows the days of the perfect. Their inheritance shall be forever. ¹⁹ They shall not be disappointed in the time of evil. In the days of famine they shall be satisfied. ²⁰ But the wicked shall perish. The enemies of the LORD shall be like the beauty of the fields. They will vanish—vanish like smoke. ²¹ The wicked borrow, and do not pay back, but the righteous give generously. ²² For such as are blessed by him shall inherit the land. Those who are cursed by him shall be cut off. ²³ The steps of a man are established by the LORD, and he delights in his way. ²⁴ Though he stumble, he shall not fall, for the LORD holds him up with his hand.

¹⁰ The wicked will see it, and be grieved. He shall gnash with his teeth, and melt away. The desire of the wicked will perish.

¹ [For the Chief Musician. A Psalm by David.] LORD, you have searched me, and you know me. ² You know my sitting down and my rising up. You perceive my thoughts from afar.

³ When my spirit was overwhelmed within me, you knew my path. In the way in which I walk, they have hidden a snare for me.

¹² There is a way which seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death.

⁹ The way of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD, but he loves him who follows after righteousness.

⁷ The LORD is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; and he knows those who take refuge in him.

¹³ "Enter in by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and many are those who enter in by it.

¹⁴ I am the good shepherd. I know my own, and my own know me;

²⁷ As I said to you, my sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.

¹⁹ However God's firm foundation stands, having this seal, "The Lord knows those who are his," and, "Let every one who names the name of the Lord depart from unrighteousness."

¹² But these, as unreasoning creatures, born natural animals to be taken and destroyed, speaking evil in matters about which they are ignorant, will in their destroying surely be destroyed,
