¹ My brothers, do not hold the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ of glory with partiality. ² For if someone with a gold ring, in fine clothing, comes into your synagogue, and a poor person in filthy clothing also comes in; ³ and you pay special attention to the one who wears the fine clothing, and say, "Sit here in a good place;" but you tell the poor person, "Stand there," or "Sit by my footstool." ⁴ Have you not discriminated among yourselves, and become judges with evil thoughts? ⁵ Listen, my beloved brothers. Did not God choose those who are poor in this world to be rich in faith, and heirs of the Kingdom which he promised to those who love him? ⁶ But you have dishonored the poor person. Do not the rich oppress you, and personally drag you before the courts? ⁷ Do not they blaspheme the honorable name by which you are called? ⁸ However, if you fulfill the royal law, according to the Scripture, "You are to love your neighbor as yourself," you do well. ⁹ But if you show partiality, you commit sin, being convicted by the law as transgressors. ¹⁰ For whoever keeps the whole law, and yet stumbles in one point, he has become guilty of all. ¹¹ For he who said, "Do not commit adultery," also said, "Do not commit murder." Now if you do not commit adultery, but murder, you have become a transgressor of the law. ¹² So speak, and so do, as those who are to be judged by a law of freedom. ¹³ For judgment is without mercy to him who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment. ¹⁴ What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith, but has no works? Can faith save him? ¹⁵ And if a brother or sister is poorly clothed and may be lacking in daily food, ¹⁶ and one of you tells them, "Go in peace, be warmed and filled;" and yet you did not give them the things the body needs, what good is it? ¹⁷ Even so faith, if it has no works, is dead in itself. ¹⁸ But someone will say, "You have faith, and I have works." Show me your faith without works, and I by my works will show you my faith. ¹⁹ You believe that God is one. You do well. The demons also believe, and shudder. ²⁰ But do you want to know, foolish person, that faith apart from works is useless? ²¹ Wasn't Abraham our father justified by works, in that he offered up Isaac his son on the altar? ²² You see that faith worked with his works, and by works faith was perfected; ²³ and the Scripture was fulfilled which says, "And Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness;" and he was called the friend of God. ²⁴ You see that a person is justified by works and not by faith alone. ²⁵ In like manner was not Rahab the prostitute also justified by works, in that she received the messengers, and sent them out another way? ²⁶ For as the body apart from the spirit is dead, even so faith apart from works is dead.

¹⁵ "'You shall do no injustice in judgment: you shall not be partial to the poor, nor show favoritism to the great; but you shall judge your neighbor in righteousness.

¹⁷ You shall not show partiality in judgment; you shall hear the small and the great alike; you shall not be afraid of the face of man; for the judgment is God's. The case that is too hard for you, you shall bring to me, and I will hear it."

¹⁹ You shall not wrest justice: you shall not respect persons; neither shall you take a bribe; for a bribe does blind the eyes of the wise, and pervert the words of the righteous.

⁷ Now therefore let the fear of the LORD be on you. Take heed and do it: for there is no iniquity with the LORD our God, nor respect of persons, nor taking of bribes."

⁷ Lift up your heads, you gates. Be lifted up, you everlasting doors, and the King of glory will come in. ⁸ Who is the King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty, The LORD mighty in battle. ⁹ Lift up your heads, you gates; lift them up, you everlasting doors, and the King of glory will come in. ¹⁰ Who is this King of glory? The LORD of hosts is the King of glory. Selah.

²³ These also are sayings of the wise. To show partiality in judgment is not good.

²¹ To show partiality is not good; yet a man will do wrong for a piece of bread.

¹⁶ They sent their disciples to him, along with the Herodians, saying, "Teacher, we know that you are honest, and teach the way of God in truth, no matter whom you teach, for you are not partial to anyone.

² He said, "Brothers and fathers, listen. The God of glory appeared to our father Abraham, when he was in Mesopotamia, before he lived in Haran,

²¹ testifying both to Jews and to Greeks repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus.

²⁴ But after some days, Felix came with Drusilla, his wife, who was Jewish, and sent for Paul, and heard him concerning the faith in Christ Jesus.

¹¹ For I long to see you, that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to strengthen you;

⁸ which none of the rulers of this age has understood. For had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.

⁴ having heard of your faith in Christ Jesus, and of the love which you have toward all the saints,

¹⁹ holding faith and a good conscience; which some having thrust away made a shipwreck concerning the faith;

²¹ I command you in the sight of God, and Christ Jesus, and the chosen angels, that you observe these things without prejudice, doing nothing by partiality.

¹ Paul, a servant of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God's chosen ones, and the knowledge of the truth which is according to godliness,

¹³ looking for the blessed hope and appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ;

³ He is the radiance of his glory, the very image of his substance, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had made purification for sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;

³ and you pay special attention to the one who wears the fine clothing, and say, "Sit here in a good place;" but you tell the poor person, "Stand there," or "Sit by my footstool."

⁹ But if you show partiality, you commit sin, being convicted by the law as transgressors.

¹⁷ But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceful, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, without hypocrisy.

¹⁶ These are murmurers and complainers, walking after their lusts (and their mouth speaks proud things), showing respect of persons to gain advantage.

⁵ who say, 'Keep your distance, do not come near to me, for I am holier than you.' These are a smoke in my nose, a fire that burns all the day.

⁴⁴ Turning to the woman, he said to Simon, "Do you see this woman? I entered into your house, and you gave me no water for my feet, but she has wet my feet with her tears, and wiped them with her hair. ⁴⁵ You gave me no kiss, but she, since the time I came in, has not ceased to kiss my feet. ⁴⁶ You did not anoint my head with oil, but she has anointed my feet with ointment.

⁹ For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that you through his poverty might become rich.

⁶ But you have dishonored the poor person. Do not the rich oppress you, and personally drag you before the courts?

¹ James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes which are in the Diaspora: Greetings. ² Count it all joy, my brothers, when you encounter various trials, ³ knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. ⁴ Let endurance have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. ⁵ But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without finding fault; and it will be given to him. ⁶ But let him ask in faith, without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind. ⁷ For let that person not think that he will receive anything from the Lord. ⁸ He is a double-minded person, unstable in all his ways. ⁹ But let the brother in humble circumstances glory in his high position; ¹⁰ and the rich, in that he is made humble, because like the flower in the grass, he will pass away. ¹¹ For the sun arises with the scorching wind, and withers the grass, and the flower in it falls, and the beauty of its appearance perishes. So also will the rich person fade away in his pursuits. ¹² Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial, for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life, which he promised to those who love him. ¹³ Let no one say when he is tempted, "I am tempted by God," for God cannot be tempted by evil, and he himself tempts no one. ¹⁴ But each one is tempted, when he is drawn away by his own lust, and enticed. ¹⁵ Then the lust, when it has conceived, bears sin; and the sin, when it is full grown, brings forth death. ¹⁶ Do not be deceived, my beloved brothers. ¹⁷ All generous giving and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom can be no variation, nor turning shadow. ¹⁸ Of his own will he brought us forth by the word of truth, that we should be a kind of first fruits of his creatures. ¹⁹ This you know, my beloved brothers. But let every person be swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger; ²⁰ for human anger does not produce the righteousness of God. ²¹ Therefore, putting away all filthiness and overflowing of wickedness, receive with humility the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. ²² But be doers of the word, and not only hearers, deluding your own selves. ²³ For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like someone looking at his natural face in a mirror; ²⁴ for he sees himself, and goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of person he was. ²⁵ But he who looks into the perfect Law of freedom, and continues, not being a hearer who forgets, but a doer of the work, this person will be blessed in what he does. ²⁶ If anyone thinks himself to be religious while he does not control his tongue, but deceives his heart, this one's religion is worthless. ²⁷ Pure religion and undefiled before our God and Father is this: to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained by the world.

¹¹ Do not speak against one another, brothers. He who speaks against a brother or judges his brother, speaks against the law and judges the law. But if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law, but a judge.

⁶ and showing loving kindness to thousands of those who love me and keep my commandments.

⁷ And when they told it to Jotham, he went and stood on the top of Mount Gerizim, and lifted up his voice, and cried, and said to them, "Listen to me, you lords of Shechem, that God may listen to you.

³⁰ "Therefore the LORD, the God of Israel, says, 'I said indeed that your house, and the house of your father, should walk before me forever.' But now the LORD says, 'Be it far from me; for those who honor me I will honor, and those who despise me shall be lightly esteemed.

²⁸ Micaiah said, "If you return at all in peace, the LORD has not spoken by me." He said, "Listen, all you people."

¹⁰ "Therefore listen to me, you men of understanding: far be it from God, that he should do wickedness, from Shaddai, that he should commit iniquity.

¹⁴ It is changed as clay under the seal, and stands forth as a garment.

²⁴ Now therefore, son, listen to me. Pay attention to the words of my mouth.

¹⁷ I love those who love me. Those who seek me diligently will find me. ¹⁸ With me are riches, honor, enduring wealth, and prosperity. ¹⁹ My fruit is better than gold, yes, than fine gold; my yield than choice silver. ²⁰ I walk in the way of righteousness, in the midst of the paths of justice; ²¹ That I may give wealth to those who love me. I fill their treasuries.

³² "Now therefore, son, listen to me, for blessed are those who keep my ways.

³² What will they say to the kings of the nation? That the LORD has founded Zion, and in her the afflicted of his people will take refuge.

¹⁹ The humble also will increase their joy in the LORD, and the poor among humankind will rejoice in the Holy One of Israel.

¹² But I will leave in the midst of you an afflicted and poor people, and they will take refuge in the name of the LORD.

⁷ So I fed the flock of slaughter, especially the oppressed of the flock. I took for myself two staffs. The one I called "Favor," and the other I called "Union," and I fed the flock.

¹¹ It was broken in that day; and thus the poor of the flock that listened to me knew that it was the word of the LORD.

³ "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

⁵ the blind receive their sight, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have good news preached to them.

³⁴ Then the King will tell those on his right hand, 'Come, blessed of my Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world;

¹⁴ And he called the crowd to himself again, and said to them, "Hear me, all of you, and understand.

²⁰ He lifted up his eyes to his disciples, and said, "Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the Kingdom of God.

⁵⁷ As they went on the way, a certain man said to him, "I want to follow you wherever you go." ⁵⁸ And Jesus said to him, "The foxes have holes, and the birds of the sky have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head."

²¹ So is he who lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God."

³² Do not be afraid, little flock, for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the Kingdom.

²² It happened that the beggar died, and that he was carried away by the angels to Abraham's bosom. The rich man also died, and was buried.

²⁵ "But Abraham said, 'Son, remember that you, in your lifetime, received your good things, and Lazarus, in like manner, bad things. But now here he is comforted and you are in anguish.

²⁹ I confer on you a kingdom, even as my Father conferred on me,

⁴⁸ Have any of the rulers believed in him, or of the Pharisees?

¹⁷ and if children, then heirs; heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ; if indeed we suffer with him, that we may also be glorified with him.

²⁶ For consider your calling, brothers, that not many were wise from a human perspective, not many mighty, not many of noble birth. ²⁷ But God chose the foolish of the world to shame the wise. And God chose the weak of the world to shame the strong. ²⁸ And God chose the lowly of the world, and the despised, what is considered to be nothing, to bring to nothing what is considered to be something,

⁹ But as it is written, No eye has seen, and no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined the things which God has prepared for those who love him.

²¹ Therefore let no one boast about people. For all things are yours, ²² whether Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to come. All are yours, ²³ and you are Christ's, and Christ is God's.

¹⁵ For all things are for your sakes, that the grace, being multiplied through the many, may cause the thanksgiving to abound to the glory of God.

¹⁰ as sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all things.

¹⁸ having the eyes of your heart enlightened, that you may know what is the hope of his calling, and what are the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,

⁸ To me, the very least of all saints, was this grace given, to proclaim to the non-Jews the unsearchable riches of Christ,

¹² we exhorted, comforted, and implored every one of you to lead a life worthy of God, who calls you into his own Kingdom and glory.

⁵ This is an obvious sign of the righteous judgment of God, to the end that you may be counted worthy of the Kingdom of God, for which you also suffer.

¹⁸ that they do good, that they be rich in good works, that they be ready to distribute, willing to communicate;

⁸ From now on, there is stored up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will give to me on that day; and not to me only, but also to all those who have loved his appearing.

¹⁸ And the Lord will deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me for his heavenly Kingdom; to whom be the glory forever and ever. Amen.

²⁶ considering the abuse suffered for the Christ greater riches than the treasures of Egypt; for he looked to the reward.

⁹ "I know your tribulation and your poverty (but you are rich), and the blasphemy of those who say they are Jews, and they are not, but are a synagogue of Satan.

¹⁸ I counsel you to buy from me gold refined by fire, that you may become rich; and white garments, that you may clothe yourself, and that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and eye salve to put on your eyes, that you may see.

⁷ He who overcomes, I will give him these things. I will be his God, and he will be my son.

¹¹ The men of his city, even the elders and the nobles who lived in his city, did as Jezebel had sent to them, according as it was written in the letters which she had sent to them. ¹² They proclaimed a fast, and set Naboth on high among the people. ¹³ The two men, the base fellows, came in and sat before him. The base fellows testified against him, even against Naboth, in the presence of the people, saying, "Naboth cursed God and the king." Then they carried him out of the city, and stoned him to death with stones.

¹⁹ For he has oppressed and forsaken the poor. He has violently taken away a house, and he shall not build it up.

² In arrogance, the wicked hunt down the weak. They are caught in the schemes that they devise.

⁸ He lies in wait near the villages. From ambushes, he murders the innocent. His eyes are secretly set against the helpless.

¹⁰ The helpless are crushed. They collapse. They fall under his strength.

¹⁴ But you do see trouble and grief. You consider it to take it into your hand. You help the victim and the fatherless.

⁵ "Because of the oppression of the weak and because of the groaning of the needy, I will now arise," says the LORD; "I will place in safety the one who longs for it."

⁶ You would frustrate the plans of the lowly, but the LORD is his refuge.

³¹ He who oppresses the poor shows contempt for his Maker, but he who is kind to the needy honors him.

⁵ Whoever mocks the poor reproaches his Maker. He who is glad at calamity shall not be unpunished.

¹⁶ Whoever oppresses the poor for his own increase and whoever gives to the rich, both come to poverty.

⁸ If you see the oppression of the poor, and the violent taking away of justice and righteousness in a district, do not marvel at the matter: for one official is eyed by a higher one; and there are officials over them.

¹⁵ Now a poor wise man was found in it, and he by his wisdom delivered the city; yet no man remembered that same poor man. ¹⁶ Then said I, Wisdom is better than strength. Nevertheless the poor man's wisdom is despised, and his words are not heard.

¹⁴ The LORD will enter into judgment with the elders of his people, and their leaders: "It is you who have eaten up the vineyard. The spoil of the poor is in your houses. ¹⁵ What do you mean that you crush my people, and grind the face of the poor?" says the Lord, the LORD of hosts.

³ He was despised, and rejected by people; a man of sorrows, and familiar with illness; and as one from whom people hide their face. He was despised, and we did not value him.

⁶ Thus says the LORD: "For three transgressions of Israel, yes, for four, I will not turn away its punishment; because they have sold the righteous for silver, and the needy for a pair of shoes; ⁷ They trample on the dust of the earth on the head of the poor, and deny justice to the oppressed; and a man and his father use the same maiden, to profane my holy name;

¹ Listen to this word, you cows of Bashan, who are on the mountain of Samaria, who oppress the poor, who crush the needy, who tell their husbands, "Bring us something to drink."

¹¹ Forasmuch therefore as you trample on the poor, and take taxes from him of wheat: You have built houses of cut stone, but you will not dwell in them. You have planted pleasant vineyards, but you shall not drink their wine.

⁴ Hear this, you who trample the needy, and destroy the poor of the land, ⁵ saying, 'When will the new moon be gone, that we may sell grain? And the Sabbath, that we may market wheat, making the ephah small, and the shekel large, and dealing falsely with balances of deceit; ⁶ that we may buy the poor for silver, and the needy for a pair of shoes, and sell the sweepings with the wheat?'"

¹¹ Shall I be pure with dishonest scales, and with a bag of deceitful weights? ¹² Her rich men are full of violence, her inhabitants speak lies, and their tongue is deceitful in their speech.

¹⁴ You pierced the heads of his warriors with their own spears. They came as a whirlwind to scatter me, gloating as if to devour the wretched in secret.

¹⁰ Do not oppress the widow, nor the fatherless, the foreigner, nor the poor; and let none of you devise evil against his brother in your heart.'

⁴⁹ Jesus answered, "I do not have a demon, but I honor my Father, and you dishonor me.

¹ As they spoke to the people, the priests and the captain of the temple and the Sadducees came to them, ² being upset because they taught the people and proclaimed in Jesus the resurrection from the dead. ³ They laid hands on them, and put them in custody until the next day, for it was now evening.

²⁶ The kings of the earth take a stand, and the rulers take council together, against the Lord, and against his Christ.' ²⁷ "For truly, in this city against your holy servant, Jesus, whom you anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with the non-Jews and the people of Israel, were gathered together ²⁸ to do whatever your hand and your council foreordained to happen.

¹⁷ But the high priest rose up, and all those who were with him (which is the sect of the Sadducees), and they were filled with jealousy, ¹⁸ and laid hands on the apostles, and put them in public custody.

²⁶ Then the captain went with the officers, and brought them without violence, for they were afraid that the people might stone them. ²⁷ When they had brought them, they set them before the council. The high priest questioned them,

³ But Saul ravaged the church, entering into every house, and dragged both men and women off to prison.

⁵⁰ But the Jews stirred up the devout women of prominence and the chief men of the city, and stirred up a persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and threw them out of their borders.

¹⁹ But when her masters saw that the hope of their gain was gone, they seized Paul and Silas, and dragged them into the marketplace before the rulers. ²⁰ When they had brought them to the magistrates, they said, "These men, being Jews, are agitating our city,

⁶ When they did not find them, they dragged Jason and certain brothers before the rulers of the city, crying, "These who have turned the world upside down have come here also,

¹² But when Gallio was proconsul of Achaia, the Jews with one accord rose up against Paul and brought him before the judgment seat,

²² What, do you not have houses to eat and to drink in? Or do you despise God's church, and put them to shame who do not have? What should I tell you? Should I praise you? In this I do not praise you.

⁴ Look, the wages of the laborers who mowed your fields, which you have kept back by fraud, cry out, and the cries of those who reaped have entered into the ears of the Lord of hosts.

⁶ You have condemned, you have murdered the righteous one. He does not resist you.

⁷ Their sin proceeds forth from fatness. Their hearts overflow with imaginations. ⁸ They scoff and speak with malice. In arrogance, they threaten oppression. ⁹ They have set their mouth in the heavens. Their tongue walks through the earth.

⁹ He has sent redemption to his people. He has ordained his covenant forever. His name is holy and awesome.

³ Your oils have a pleasing fragrance. Your name is oil poured forth, therefore the virgins love you.

¹⁴ Therefore the LORD himself will give you a sign. Look, the virgin will conceive, and bear a son, and they will call his name Immanuel.

⁶ For to us a child is born. To us a son is given; and the government will be on his shoulders, and his name is called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. ⁷ Of the increase of his government and of peace there shall be no end, on the throne of David, and on his kingdom, to establish it, and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from that time on, even forever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.

¹⁵ You shall leave your name for a curse to my chosen; and the Lord GOD will kill you; and he will call his servants by another name:

⁶ In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely; and this is his name by which he shall be called: 'The LORD our righteousness.'

²³ "Look, the virgin will conceive and bear a son, and they will call his name Immanuel;" which is translated, "God with us."

²⁴ But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, "This man does not cast out demons, except by Beelzebul, the prince of the demons."

⁶³ saying, "Sir, we remember what that deceiver said while he was still alive: 'After three days I will rise again.'

⁶⁴ And having blindfolded him, they were striking his face and kept asking him, saying, "Prophesy, who is the one who struck you?" ⁶⁵ They spoke many other things against him, insulting him.

¹² And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among people by which we must be saved."

²⁶ When he had found him, he brought him to Antioch. It happened, that for a whole year they were gathered together with the church, and taught many people. The disciples were first called Christians in Antioch.

¹¹ Punishing them often in all the synagogues, I tried to make them blaspheme. Being exceedingly enraged against them, I persecuted them even to foreign cities.

¹⁵ from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named,

⁹ Therefore God also highly exalted him, and gave to him the name which is above every name; ¹⁰ that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, those on earth, and those under the earth, ¹¹ and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

¹³ although I was before a blasphemer, a persecutor, and insolent. However, I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief.

⁵ A mouth was given to him speaking proud words and blasphemies. There was given to him authority to act for forty-two months. ⁶ He opened his mouth for blasphemies against God, to blaspheme his name, and his dwelling, those who dwell in heaven.

¹³ He is clothed in a garment dipped in blood. His name is called "The Word of God."

¹⁶ He has on his garment and on his thigh a name written, "King of kings, and Lord of lords."

¹⁸ "'You shall not take vengeance, nor bear any grudge against the children of your people; but you shall love your neighbor as yourself. I am the LORD.

³⁴ The stranger who lives as a foreigner with you shall be to you as the native-born among you, and you shall love him as yourself; for you lived as foreigners in the land of Egypt. I am the LORD your God.

¹⁸ But the LORD said to David my father, 'Whereas it was in your heart to build a house for my name, you did well that it was in your heart.

⁹ Then they said one to another, "We aren't doing right. This day is a day of good news, and we keep silent. If we wait until the morning light, punishment will overtake us. Now therefore come, let us go and tell the king's household."

⁴ The LORD said, "Is it right for you to be angry?"

⁹ God said to Jonah, "Is it right for you to be angry about the vine?" He said, "I am right to be angry, even to death."

³⁹ A second likewise is this, 'You are to love your neighbor as yourself.'

²¹ "His lord said to him, 'Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a few things, I will set you over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.'

³¹ The second is this, 'You are to love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no other commandment greater than these." ³² The scribe said to him, "Truly, Teacher, you have said well that he is one, and there is none other but he, ³³ and to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love his neighbor as himself, is more important than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices."

²⁷ He answered, "You are to love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself." ²⁸ He said to him, "You have answered correctly. Do this, and you will live." ²⁹ But he, desiring to justify himself, asked Jesus, "Who is my neighbor?" ³⁰ Jesus answered, "A certain man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and he fell among robbers, who both stripped him and beat him, and departed, leaving him half dead. ³¹ By chance a certain priest was going down that way. When he saw him, he passed by on the other side. ³² In the same way a Levite also, when he came to the place, and saw him, passed by on the other side. ³³ But a certain Samaritan, as he traveled, came where he was. When he saw him, he was moved with compassion, ³⁴ came to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. He set him on his own animal, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him. ³⁵ On the next day, he took out two denarii, and gave them to the host, and said to him, 'Take care of him. Whatever you spend beyond that, I will repay you when I return.' ³⁶ Now which of these three do you think seemed to be a neighbor to him who fell among the robbers?" ³⁷ He said, "He who showed mercy on him." Then Jesus said to him, "Go and do likewise."

⁸ Owe no one anything, except to love one another; for he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law. ⁹ For the commandments, "Do not commit adultery," "Do not murder," "Do not steal," "Do not give false testimony," "Do not covet," and whatever other commandments there are, are all summed up in this saying, namely, "You are to love your neighbor as yourself."

¹⁴ For the whole law is fulfilled in one word, in this: "You are to love your neighbor as yourself."

² Bear one another's burdens, and so you will fulfill the law of Christ.

¹⁴ Still, you have done well to share my hardship.

⁹ But concerning brotherly love, you have no need that one write to you. For you yourselves are taught by God to love one another,

²⁵ But he who looks into the perfect Law of freedom, and continues, not being a hearer who forgets, but a doer of the work, this person will be blessed in what he does.

¹² So speak, and so do, as those who are to be judged by a law of freedom.

¹⁹ You believe that God is one. You do well. The demons also believe, and shudder.

⁹ But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellence of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light:

⁹ But when they heard it, they went out one by one, beginning from the oldest, even to the last, and he was left alone with the woman where she was, in the middle.

⁴⁶ Which of you convicts me of sin? If I tell the truth, why do you not believe me?

⁸ When he has come, he will convict the world about sin, and about righteousness, and about judgment;

²⁰ Because by the works of the law, no flesh will be justified in his sight. For through the law comes the knowledge of sin.

⁷ What should we say then? Is the law sin? Absolutely not. However, I would not have known sin, except through the law. For I would not have known covetousness, unless the law had said, "Do not covet." ⁸ But sin, taking opportunity through the commandment, produced in me all kinds of covetousness. For apart from the law, sin is dead. ⁹ I was alive apart from the law once, but when the commandment came, sin became alive, and I died. ¹⁰ The commandment, which was for life, this I found to be for death; ¹¹ for sin, taking the opportunity through the commandment, deceived me, and through it killed me. ¹² Therefore the law indeed is holy, and the commandment holy, and righteous, and good. ¹³ Did that which is good, then, become death to me? Absolutely not. But sin, that it might be shown to be sin, by working death to me through that which is good; that through the commandment sin might become exceeding sinful.

²⁴ But if all prophesy, and someone unbelieving or unlearned comes in, he is reproved by all, and he is judged by all.

¹⁹ For I, through the law, died to the law, that I might live to God.

¹ My brothers, do not hold the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ of glory with partiality. ² For if someone with a gold ring, in fine clothing, comes into your synagogue, and a poor person in filthy clothing also comes in; ³ and you pay special attention to the one who wears the fine clothing, and say, "Sit here in a good place;" but you tell the poor person, "Stand there," or "Sit by my footstool." ⁴ Have you not discriminated among yourselves, and become judges with evil thoughts?

⁴ Everyone who sins also commits lawlessness. Sin is lawlessness.

¹⁵ to execute judgment on all, and to convict every person of all their works of ungodliness which they have done in an ungodly way, and of all the hard things which ungodly sinners have spoken against him."

²⁶ 'Cursed is he who doesn't confirm all the words of this law to do them.' All the people shall say, 'Amen.'"

¹⁸ For truly, I tell you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or part of a letter will disappear from the Law, until all things are accomplished. ¹⁹ Therefore, whoever will break one of these least commandments, and teach others to do so, will be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever will do and teach them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

¹⁰ For as many as are of the works of the law are under a curse. For it is written, "Cursed is everyone who does not continue in all things that are written in the book of the law, to do them."

¹³ "Do not commit adultery. ¹⁴ "Do not murder.

² "Speak to the children of Israel, saying, 'If anyone sins unintentionally, in any of the things which the LORD has commanded not to be done, and does any one of them:

¹³ "'If the whole congregation of Israel sins, and the thing is hidden from the eyes of the assembly, and they have done any of the things which the LORD has commanded not to be done, and are guilty;

²² "'When a ruler sins, and unwittingly does any one of all the things which the LORD his God has commanded not to be done, and is guilty;

¹⁷ "Do not commit adultery. ¹⁸ "Do not murder.

³ If you, LORD, kept a record of sins, Lord, who could stand? ⁴ But there is forgiveness with you, so that you may be revered.

²¹ "You have heard that it was said to the ancient ones, 'Do not murder;' and whoever murders will be liable to judgment. ²² But I tell you, that everyone who is angry with his brother without a cause will be liable to judgment; and whoever will say to his brother, 'Raqa,' will be in danger of the council; and whoever will say, 'You fool,' will be in danger of the fire of hell. ²³ "If therefore you are offering your gift at the altar, and there remember that your brother has anything against you, ²⁴ leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift. ²⁵ Agree with your adversary quickly, while you are with him in the way; lest perhaps the prosecutor deliver you to the judge, and the judge to the officer, and you be cast into prison. ²⁶ Truly I tell you, you will never get out of there until you have paid the last penny. ²⁷ "You have heard that it was said, 'Do not commit adultery;' ²⁸ but I tell you that everyone who looks at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart.

¹⁸ He said to him, "Which ones?" And Jesus said, "'Do not murder.' 'Do not commit adultery.' 'Do not steal.' 'Do not offer false testimony.'

¹⁹ You know the commandments: 'Do not commit adultery,' 'Do not murder,' 'Do not steal,' 'Do not give false testimony,' 'Do not defraud,' 'Honor your father and mother.'"

²⁰ You know the commandments: 'Do not commit adultery,' 'Do not murder,' 'Do not steal,' 'Do not give false testimony,' 'Honor your father and your mother.'"

⁹ For the commandments, "Do not commit adultery," "Do not murder," "Do not steal," "Do not give false testimony," "Do not covet," and whatever other commandments there are, are all summed up in this saying, namely, "You are to love your neighbor as yourself."

⁸ Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report; if there is any virtue, and if there is any praise, think on these things.

¹⁷ Whatever you do, in word or in deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father, through him.

⁸ However, if you fulfill the royal law, according to the Scripture, "You are to love your neighbor as yourself," you do well.

⁴ by which he has granted to us his precious and exceedingly great promises; that through these you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world by lust. ⁵ Yes, and for this very cause adding on your part all diligence, in your faith supply moral excellence; and in moral excellence, knowledge; ⁶ and in knowledge, self-control; and in self-control patience; and in patience godliness; ⁷ and in godliness brotherly affection; and in brotherly affection, love. ⁸ For if these things are yours and abound, they make you to be not idle nor unfruitful to the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

²¹ Then they said to one another, "We are certainly guilty concerning our brother, because we saw how distressed he was when he pleaded with us, and we wouldnʼt listen. Therefore this distress has come upon us."

⁷ Adoni-Bezek said, "Seventy kings, having their thumbs and their great toes cut off, scavenged under my table: as I have done, so God has requited me." They brought him to Jerusalem, and he died there.

⁶ For you have taken pledges from your brother for nothing, and stripped the naked of their clothing. ⁷ You haven't given water to the weary to drink, and you have withheld bread from the hungry. ⁸ But as for the mighty man, he had the earth. The honorable man, he lived in it. ⁹ You have sent widows away empty, and the arms of the fatherless have been broken. ¹⁰ Therefore snares are around you. Sudden fear troubles you,

²⁵ With the faithful you show yourself faithful. With the innocent you show yourself innocent.

¹⁰ Mercy and truth meet together. Righteousness and peace have kissed each other.

¹³ Whoever stops his ears at the cry of the poor, he will also cry out, but shall not be heard.

¹¹ When its boughs are withered, they will be broken off. The women will come and set them on fire, for they are a people of no understanding. Therefore he who made them will not have compassion on them, and he who formed them will show them no favor.

²⁴ but let him who boasts boast in this, that he has understanding, and knows me, that I am the LORD who exercises loving kindness, justice, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight," says the LORD.

¹¹ Tell them, 'As I live,' says the Lord GOD, 'I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn, turn from your evil ways; for why will you die, house of Israel?'

¹⁸ Who is a God like you, who pardons iniquity, and passes over the disobedience of the remnant of his heritage? He doesn't retain his anger forever, because he delights in loving kindness.

⁷ Blessed are the merciful, for they will obtain mercy.

¹⁵ But if you do not forgive people, neither will your Father forgive your wrongdoing.

¹ "Do not judge, so that you won't be judged. ² For with whatever judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with whatever measure you measure, it will be measured to you.

²⁸ "But that servant went out, and found one of his fellow servants, who owed him one hundred denarii, and he grabbed him, and took him by the throat, saying, 'Pay what you owe.' ²⁹ "So his fellow servant fell down at his feet and begged him, saying, 'Have patience with me, and I will repay you all.' ³⁰ He would not, but went and cast him into prison, until he should pay back that which was due. ³¹ So when his fellow servants saw what was done, they were exceedingly sorry, and came and told to their lord all that was done. ³² Then his lord called him in, and said to him, 'You wicked servant. I forgave you all that debt, because you begged me. ³³ Should you not also have had mercy on your fellow servant, even as I had mercy on you?' ³⁴ His lord was angry, and delivered him to the tormentors, until he should pay all that was due. ³⁵ So my heavenly Father will also do to you, if you do not each forgive your brother his trespasses from your heart."

⁴¹ Then he will say also to those on the left hand, 'Depart from me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire which is prepared for the devil and his angels; ⁴² for I was hungry, and you did not give me food to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave me no drink; ⁴³ I was a stranger, and you did not take me in; naked, and you did not clothe me; sick, and in prison, and you did not visit me.' ⁴⁴ "Then they will also answer, saying, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry, or thirsty, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not help you?' ⁴⁵ "Then he will answer them, saying, 'Truly I tell you, inasmuch as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me.' ⁴⁶ These will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into everlasting life."

³⁷ Do not judge, and you won't be judged. Do not condemn, and you won't be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.

⁶ to the praise of the glory of his grace, which he freely bestowed on us in the Beloved One, ⁷ in whom we have our redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace,

⁴ But God, being rich in mercy, for his great love with which he loved us, ⁵ even when we were dead through our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), ⁶ and raised us up with him, and made us to sit with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, ⁷ that in the ages to come he might show the exceeding riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus;

⁸ He who does not love does not know God, for God is love. ⁹ By this God's love was revealed in us, that God has sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. ¹⁰ In this is love, not that we have loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son as the atoning sacrifice for our sins. ¹¹ Beloved, if God loved us in this way, we also ought to love one another. ¹² No one has seen God at any time. If we love one another, God remains in us, and his love has been perfected in us. ¹³ By this we know that we remain in him and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit. ¹⁴ We have seen and testify that the Father has sent the Son as the Savior of the world. ¹⁵ Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God remains in him, and he in God. ¹⁶ We know and have believed the love which God has for us. God is love, and he who remains in love remains in God, and God remains in him.

¹⁸ There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear has punishment. He who fears is not made perfect in love. ¹⁹ We love, because he first loved us.

⁸ Look, you trust in lying words, that can't profit.

²⁰ For I tell you that unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, there is no way you will enter into the kingdom of heaven.

²¹ Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. ²² Many will tell me in that day, 'Lord, Lord, did not we prophesy in your name, in your name cast out demons, and in your name do many mighty works?' ²³ And then I will tell them, 'I never knew you. Depart from me, you who practice lawlessness.'

²⁶ And everyone who hears these words of mine, and does not do them will be like a foolish man, who built his house on the sand. ²⁷ And the rain came down, the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat on that house; and it fell—and great was its fall."

⁴⁹ But he who hears, and does not do, is like someone who built a house on the earth without a foundation, against which the stream broke, and immediately it fell, and the ruin of that house was great."

¹³ Simon himself also believed. Being baptized, he continued with Philip. Seeing signs and great miracles occurring, he was amazed.

²¹ You have neither part nor lot in this matter, for your heart is not right before God.

⁹ He made no distinction between us and them, cleansing their hearts by faith.

²⁵ For circumcision indeed profits, if you are a doer of the law, but if you are a transgressor of the law, your circumcision has become uncircumcision.

² If I have the gift of prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge; and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. ³ If I dole out all my goods to feed the poor, and if I surrender my body so that I may boast, but do not have love, it profits me nothing.

² by which also you are saved, if you hold firmly the word which I preached to you—unless you believed in vain.

²² If anyone does not love the Lord, a curse be on him. Our Lord, come.

⁶ For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision amounts to anything, nor uncircumcision, but faith working through love.

¹³ For you, brothers, were called for freedom. Only do not use your freedom for gain to the flesh, but through love be servants to one another.

⁸ for by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, ⁹ not of works, that no one would boast. ¹⁰ For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared before that we would walk in them.

³ remembering without ceasing your work of faith and labor of love and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, before our God and Father.

⁵ but the goal of this command is love, out of a pure heart and a good conscience and unfeigned faith;

⁸ For bodily exercise has some value, but godliness has value in all things, having the promise of the life which is now, and of that which is to come.

¹⁶ They profess that they know God, but by their works they deny him, being abominable, disobedient, and unfit for any good work.

⁸ This saying is faithful, and concerning these things I desire that you affirm confidently, so that those who have believed God may be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable for people;

⁷ By faith, Noah, being warned about things not yet seen, in reverence prepared a box-shaped vessel for the salvation of his household, through which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith. ⁸ By faith, Abraham, when he was called, obeyed to go out to a place which he was to receive for an inheritance. He went out, not knowing where he was going.

¹⁷ By faith, Abraham, being tested, offered up Isaac; and he who had gladly received the promises was offering up his one and only son;

⁹ Do not be carried away by all kinds of strange teachings, for it is good that the heart be established by grace, not by food, through which those who were so occupied were not benefited.

²² But be doers of the word, and not only hearers, deluding your own selves. ²³ For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like someone looking at his natural face in a mirror; ²⁴ for he sees himself, and goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of person he was. ²⁵ But he who looks into the perfect Law of freedom, and continues, not being a hearer who forgets, but a doer of the work, this person will be blessed in what he does.

¹⁶ and one of you tells them, "Go in peace, be warmed and filled;" and yet you did not give them the things the body needs, what good is it?

¹⁸ But someone will say, "You have faith, and I have works." Show me your faith without works, and I by my works will show you my faith.

²⁶ For as the body apart from the spirit is dead, even so faith apart from works is dead.

⁵ Yes, and for this very cause adding on your part all diligence, in your faith supply moral excellence; and in moral excellence, knowledge;

⁴ For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world: our faith. ⁵ Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?

¹⁶ "If I have withheld the poor from their desire, or have caused the eyes of the widow to fail, ¹⁷ or have eaten my morsel alone, and the fatherless has not eaten of it ¹⁸ (no, from my youth he grew up with me as with a father, her have I guided from my mother's womb); ¹⁹ if I have seen any perish for want of clothing, or that the needy had no covering; ²⁰ if his heart hasn't blessed me, if he hasn't been warmed with my sheep's fleece; ²¹ if I have lifted up my hand against the fatherless, because I saw my help in the gate,

⁷ Isn't it to distribute your bread to the hungry, and that you bring the poor who are cast out to your house? When you see the naked, that you cover him; and that you not hide yourself from your own flesh?

¹⁰ and if you draw out your soul to the hungry, and satisfy the afflicted soul: then your light shall rise in darkness, and your obscurity be as the noonday;

⁷ and has not wronged any, but has restored to the debtor his pledge, has taken nothing by robbery, has given his bread to the hungry, and has covered the naked with a garment;

³⁵ for I was hungry, and you gave me food to eat. I was thirsty, and you gave me drink. I was a stranger, and you took me in. ³⁶ I was naked, and you clothed me. I was sick, and you visited me. I was in prison, and you came to me.' ³⁷ "Then the righteous will answer him, saying, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry, and feed you; or thirsty, and give you a drink? ³⁸ When did we see you as a stranger, and take you in; or naked, and clothe you? ³⁹ When did we see you sick, or in prison, and come to you?' ⁴⁰ "The King will answer them, 'Truly I tell you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.'

⁷ For you always have the poor with you, and whenever you want to, you can do them good; but you will not always have me.

¹¹ He answered them, "He who has two coats, let him give to him who has none. He who has food, let him do likewise."

²⁹ He spoke and disputed against the Hellenists, but they were seeking to kill him.

³⁷ They were stoned, they were sawed apart, they were put to the test, they were killed with the sword. They went around in sheepskins and in goatskins, being destitute, afflicted, mistreated

⁵ Listen, my beloved brothers. Did not God choose those who are poor in this world to be rich in faith, and heirs of the Kingdom which he promised to those who love him?

²⁷ Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in the power of your hand to do it. ²⁸ Do not say to your neighbor, "Go, and come again; tomorrow I will give it to you," when you have it by you.

¹⁵ Now when evening had come, the disciples came to him, saying, "This place is desolate, and the hour is already late. Send the crowds away, that they may go into the villages, and buy themselves food." ¹⁶ But Jesus said to them, "They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat."

³² Jesus summoned the disciples and said, "I have compassion on the crowd, because they continue with me now three days and have nothing to eat. I do not want to send them away fasting, or they might faint on the way."

⁴² for I was hungry, and you did not give me food to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave me no drink; ⁴³ I was a stranger, and you did not take me in; naked, and you did not clothe me; sick, and in prison, and you did not visit me.' ⁴⁴ "Then they will also answer, saying, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry, or thirsty, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not help you?' ⁴⁵ "Then he will answer them, saying, 'Truly I tell you, inasmuch as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me.'

⁹ Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor that which is evil. Cling to that which is good.

⁸ I speak not by way of commandment, but as proving through the earnestness of others the sincerity also of your love.

¹⁶ By this we know love, because he laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers. ¹⁷ But whoever has the world's goods, and sees his brother in need, and closes his heart of compassion against him, how does the love of God remain in him? ¹⁸ Little children, let us not love in word only, neither with the tongue only, but in deed and truth.

³ If I dole out all my goods to feed the poor, and if I surrender my body so that I may boast, but do not have love, it profits me nothing.

¹³ But now faith, hope, and love remain—these three. The greatest of these is love.

¹⁴ What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith, but has no works? Can faith save him?

¹⁹ You believe that God is one. You do well. The demons also believe, and shudder. ²⁰ But do you want to know, foolish person, that faith apart from works is useless?

⁵ Yes, and for this very cause adding on your part all diligence, in your faith supply moral excellence; and in moral excellence, knowledge; ⁶ and in knowledge, self-control; and in self-control patience; and in patience godliness; ⁷ and in godliness brotherly affection; and in brotherly affection, love. ⁸ For if these things are yours and abound, they make you to be not idle nor unfruitful to the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. ⁹ For he who lacks these things is blind, seeing only what is near, having forgotten the cleansing from his old sins.

¹⁶ By their fruits you will know them. Do you gather grapes from thorns, or figs from thistles? ¹⁷ Even so, every good tree produces good fruit; but the corrupt tree produces evil fruit.

²⁸ For we maintain that one is justified by faith apart from the works of the law.

⁶ Even as David also pronounces blessing on the one to whom God counts righteousness apart from works,

¹ There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus.

²³ But he who doubts is condemned if he eats, because it is not of faith; and whatever is not of faith is sin.

² If I have the gift of prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge; and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.

¹⁷ Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Look, new things have come.

¹ Having therefore these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all defilement of flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

³ remembering without ceasing your work of faith and labor of love and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, before our God and Father. ⁴ We know, brothers loved by God, that you are chosen, ⁵ and that our Good News came to you not in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Spirit, and with much assurance. You know what kind of persons we showed ourselves to be among you for your sake. ⁶ You became imitators of us, and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Spirit, ⁷ so that you became an example to all who believe in Macedonia and in Achaia. ⁸ For from you the word of the Lord has been declared, not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place your faith toward God has gone out; so that we do not need to say anything. ⁹ For they themselves report concerning us what kind of a reception we had from you; and how you turned to God from idols, to serve a living and true God, ¹⁰ and to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead—Jesus, who delivers us from the wrath to come.

⁷ in all things showing yourself an example of good works. In your teaching show integrity, seriousness,

¹¹ For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all people, ¹² instructing us to say "No" to ungodliness and worldly desires, and to live soberly, righteously, and godly in this present age; ¹³ looking for the blessed hope and appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ; ¹⁴ who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify for himself a people for his own possession, zealous for good works.

⁶ Now without faith it is impossible to be well pleasing to him, for he who comes to God must believe that he exists, and that he is a rewarder of those who seek him.

³¹ By faith, Rahab the prostitute did not perish with those who were disobedient, having received the spies in peace.

³³ who, through faith subdued kingdoms, worked out righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions,

²² You see that faith worked with his works, and by works faith was perfected; ²³ and the Scripture was fulfilled which says, "And Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness;" and he was called the friend of God. ²⁴ You see that a person is justified by works and not by faith alone. ²⁵ In like manner was not Rahab the prostitute also justified by works, in that she received the messengers, and sent them out another way?

¹³ Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show by his good conduct that his deeds are done in gentleness of wisdom.

⁴ Hear, Israel: the LORD is our God, the LORD is one.

¹⁰ "You are my witnesses," says the LORD, "With my servant whom I have chosen; that you may know and believe me, and understand that I am he. Before me there was no God formed, neither will there be after me.

⁶ This is what the LORD, the King of Israel, and his Redeemer, the LORD of hosts, says: "I am the first, and I am the last; and besides me there is no God.

⁸ Do not fear, neither be afraid. Haven't I declared it to you long ago, and shown it? You are my witnesses. Is there a God besides me? Indeed, there is not. I do not know any other Rock."

⁶ that they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, that there is none besides me. I am the LORD, and there is no one else.

²¹ Declare and bring it forth. Yes, let them take counsel together. Who announced this from long ago, has told it from then? Was it not I, the LORD? And there is no other God besides me, a just God and a Savior; there is no one besides me. ²² Look to me, and be saved, every part of the earth; for I am God, and there is no other.

⁹ Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me;

⁹ The LORD will be King over all the earth. In that day the LORD will be one, and his name one.

²⁹ And look, they shouted, saying, "What do we have to do with you, Son of God? Have you come here to torment us before the time?"

²⁴ saying, "What do we have to do with you, Jesus, Nazarene? Have you come to destroy us? I know you who you are: the Holy One of God."

⁷ and crying out with a loud voice, he said, "What have I to do with you, Jesus, you Son of the Most High God? I adjure you by God, do not torment me."

⁹ He said to them, "Full well do you reject the commandment of God, that you may establish your tradition.

²⁹ Jesus answered, "The first is, 'Hear, Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one.

³⁴ saying, "Ah. What have we to do with you, Jesus, Nazarene? Have you come to destroy us? I know you who you are — the Holy One of God."

³ This is everlasting life, that they may know you, the only true God, and him whom you sent, Jesus Christ.

¹⁷ She followed Paul and us, shouting, "These men are servants of the Most High God, who proclaim to you the way of salvation."

¹⁵ The evil spirit answered, "Jesus I know, and Paul I know, but who are you?"

²⁵ As he reasoned about righteousness, self-control, and the judgment to come, Felix was terrified, and answered, "Go your way for this time, and when it is convenient for me, I will summon you."

³⁰ since indeed there is one God who will justify the circumcised by faith, and the uncircumcised through faith.

⁴ Therefore concerning the eating of things sacrificed to idols, we know that no idol is anything in the world, and that there is no God but one.

⁶ yet to us there is one God, the Father, from whom are all things, and we for him; and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things, and we live through him.

²⁰ Now a mediator is not between one, but God is one.

⁵ one Lord, one faith, one baptism, ⁶ one God and Father of all, who is over all, and through all, and in all.

⁵ For there is one God, and one mediator between God and humanity, a human, Christ Jesus,

⁴ For there are certain people who crept in secretly, even those who were long ago written about for this condemnation: ungodly people, turning the grace of our God into sensuality, and denying our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.

⁶ Angels who did not keep their first domain, but deserted their own dwelling place, he has kept in everlasting bonds under darkness for the judgment of the great day.

² He seized the serpent, the ancient snake, which is the devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years, ³ and cast him into the abyss, and shut it, and sealed it over him, that he should deceive the nations no more, until the thousand years were finished. After this, he must be freed for a short time.

¹⁰ The devil who deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet are also. They will be tormented day and night forever and ever.

¹¹ For he knows false men. He sees iniquity also, even though he doesn't consider it. ¹² An empty-headed man becomes wise when a man is born as a wild donkey's colt.

⁸ Consider, you senseless among the people; you fools, when will you be wise? ⁹ He who implanted the ear, won't he hear? He who formed the eye, won't he see? ¹⁰ He who disciplines the nations, won't he punish? He who teaches man knows. ¹¹ The LORD knows the thoughts of man, that they are futile.

¹¹ He who tills his land shall have plenty of bread, but he who chases fantasies is void of understanding.

⁵ Thus says the LORD, "What unrighteousness have your fathers found in me, that they have gone far from me, and have walked after vanity, and are become vain?

²¹ Because, although they knew God, they did not glorify him as God or give him thanks, but their thinking became nonsense, and their foolish heart was darkened.

³⁵ But someone will say, "How are the dead raised?" and, "With what kind of body do they come?" ³⁶ You foolish one, that which you yourself sow is not made alive unless it dies.

³ For if anyone thinks himself to be something when he is nothing, he deceives himself.

⁸ Be careful not to allow anyone to captivate you through an empty and deceptive philosophy, according to human tradition, according to the elementary principles of the world, and not according to Christ.

⁶ from which things some, having missed the mark, have turned aside to vain talking;

¹⁰ For there are many rebellious people, empty talkers and deceivers, especially those of the circumcision,

²⁶ If anyone thinks himself to be religious while he does not control his tongue, but deceives his heart, this one's religion is worthless.

¹⁷ Even so faith, if it has no works, is dead in itself.

⁹ They came to the place which God had told him of. Abraham built the altar there and arranged the wood, and bound his son Isaac and placed him on the altar, on top of the wood. ¹⁰ Abraham reached out his hand, and took the knife to kill his son. ¹¹ But an angel of God called to him out of the sky, and said, "Abraham, Abraham." And he said, "Here I am." ¹² He said, "Do not lay your hand on the boy, neither do anything to him. For now I know that you fear God, seeing you have not withheld your son, your only one, from me."

¹⁶ and said, "I have sworn by myself," says the LORD, "because you have done this thing, and have not withheld your son, your only one, from me, ¹⁷ I will indeed bless you, and I will greatly multiply your offspring like the stars of the sky, and like the sand which is on the seashore; and your offspring will possess the gate of their enemies. ¹⁸ And through your offspring all the nations of the earth will be blessed, because you have obeyed my voice."

³ I took your father Abraham from beyond the River, and led him throughout all the land of Canaan, and multiplied his descendants, and gave him Isaac.

² Do not enter into judgment with your servant, for in your sight no man living is righteous.

² Look to Abraham your father, and to Sarah who bore you; for when he was but one I called him, and I blessed him, and made him many.

⁹ and do not think to yourselves, 'We have Abraham for our father,' for I tell you that God is able to raise up children to Abraham from these stones.

³⁷ For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned."

³¹ "But when the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit on the throne of his glory. ³² Before him all the nations will be gathered, and he will separate them one from another, as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. ³³ He will set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left. ³⁴ Then the King will tell those on his right hand, 'Come, blessed of my Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world;

⁷³ the oath which he spoke to Abraham, our father,

²⁴ He called out and said, 'Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue. For I am in anguish in this flame.'

³⁰ "He said, 'No, father Abraham, but if one goes to them from the dead, they will repent.'

³⁹ They answered him, "Our father is Abraham." Jesus said to them, "If you were Abraham's children, you would do the works of Abraham.

⁵³ Are you greater than our father, Abraham, who died? The prophets died. Who do you make yourself out to be?"

¹ What then will we say that Abraham, our forefather, has found according to the flesh?

¹² The father of circumcision to those who not only are of the circumcision, but who also walk in the steps of that faith of our father Abraham, which he had in uncircumcision.

¹⁶ For this cause it is of faith, that it may be according to grace, to the end that the promise may be sure to all the descendants, not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all.

²⁴ You see that a person is justified by works and not by faith alone.

¹⁷ By faith, Abraham, being tested, offered up Isaac; and he who had gladly received the promises was offering up his one and only son; ¹⁸ even he to whom it was said, "In Isaac will your descendants be called;" ¹⁹ concluding that God is able to raise up even from the dead. Figuratively speaking, he also did receive him back from the dead.

⁵ But whoever keeps his word, God's love has truly been perfected in him. This is how we know that we are in him:

¹⁷ In this love has been made perfect among us, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment, because as he is, even so are we in this world. ¹⁸ There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear has punishment. He who fears is not made perfect in love.

⁶ And he believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.

¹¹ The LORD spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend. He turned again into the camp, but his servant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, did not depart out of the Tent.

⁷ Did you not, our God, drive out the inhabitants of this land before your people Israel, and give it forever to the descendants of Abraham your friend?

²¹ that he would maintain the right of a man with God, of a son of man with his neighbor.

⁸ "But you, Israel, my servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, the offspring of Abraham my friend,

¹⁰ Haven't you even read this Scripture: 'The stone which the builders rejected, the same was made the head of the corner.

²⁷ With him they crucified two robbers; one on his right hand, and one on his left.

²¹ He began to tell them, "Today, this Scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing."

¹³ Greater love has no one than this, that someone lays down his life for his friends. ¹⁴ You are my friends, if you do whatever I command you. ¹⁵ No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing. But I have called you friends, for everything that I heard from my Father I have made known to you.

¹⁶ "Brothers, it was necessary that this Scripture should be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit spoke before by the mouth of David concerning Judas, who was guide to those who took Jesus.

³ For what does the Scripture say? "And Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness." ⁴ Now to the one who works, the pay is not counted as a gift, but as an obligation. ⁵ But to him who does not work, but believes in him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is credited as righteousness. ⁶ Even as David also pronounces blessing on the one to whom God counts righteousness apart from works,

¹⁰ How then was it credited? When he was in circumcision, or in uncircumcision? Not in circumcision, but in uncircumcision. ¹¹ He received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had while he was in uncircumcision, so that he might be the father of all those who believe, though they be in uncircumcision, that righteousness might also be credited to them.

²² And therefore "it was credited to him as righteousness." ²³ Now it was not written that it was credited to him for his sake alone, ²⁴ but for our sake also, to whom it will be credited, who believe in him who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead,

¹⁷ For the Scripture says to Pharaoh, "For this very purpose I caused you to be raised up, that I might show in you my power, and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth."

² God did not reject his people, which he foreknew. Or do you not know what the Scripture says about Elijah? How he pleads with God against Israel:

⁶ Even as Abraham "believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness."

⁸ The Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the non-Jews by faith, preached the Good News beforehand to Abraham, saying, "Through you all the nations will be blessed." ⁹ So then, those who are of faith are blessed with the faithful Abraham. ¹⁰ For as many as are of the works of the law are under a curse. For it is written, "Cursed is everyone who does not continue in all things that are written in the book of the law, to do them."

²² But the Scriptures imprisoned all things under sin, that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe.

¹⁶ All Scripture is God-breathed and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness,

⁶ Because it is contained in Scripture, "Look, I am laying in Zion a stone, a chosen precious cornerstone, and whoever believes in him will not be put to shame."

¹² Through God we shall do valiantly, for it is he who will tread down our adversaries.

¹⁵ And if a brother or sister is poorly clothed and may be lacking in daily food, ¹⁶ and one of you tells them, "Go in peace, be warmed and filled;" and yet you did not give them the things the body needs, what good is it? ¹⁷ Even so faith, if it has no works, is dead in itself. ¹⁸ But someone will say, "You have faith, and I have works." Show me your faith without works, and I by my works will show you my faith.

²¹ Wasn't Abraham our father justified by works, in that he offered up Isaac his son on the altar? ²² You see that faith worked with his works, and by works faith was perfected;

¹ And Joshua the son of Nun secretly sent two young men out of Shittim as spies, saying, "Go, view the land, and Jericho." And the two young men went and came to Jericho and entered into the house of a prostitute whose name was Rahab, and slept there.

⁴ The woman took the two men and hid them. Then she said, "Yes, the men came to me, but I did not know where they came from.

⁶ But she had brought them up to the roof, and hid them with the stalks of flax, which she had laid in order on the roof.

¹⁵ Then she let them down by a cord through the window; for her house was on the side of the wall, and she lived on the wall.

¹⁹ It shall be that whoever goes out of the doors of your house into the street, his blood will be on his head, and we will be guiltless. Whoever is with you in the house, his blood shall be on our head, if any hand is on him. ²⁰ But if you talk about this business of ours, then we shall be guiltless of your oath which you have made us to swear." ²¹ She said, "According to your words, so be it." She sent them away, and they departed. She tied the scarlet line in the window.

¹⁷ The city shall be devoted, even it and all that is in it, to the LORD. Only Rahab the prostitute shall live, she and all who are with her in the house, because she hid the messengers that we sent.

²² And Joshua said to the two young men who had spied out the land, "Go into the prostitute's house, and bring out from there the woman and all that she has, as you swore to her." ²³ The young men who were spies went in, and brought out Rahab with her father, her mother, her brothers, and all that she had. They also brought out all her relatives, and they set them outside of the camp of Israel. ²⁴ They burnt the city with fire, and all that was in it. Only they put the silver, the gold, and the vessels of bronze and of iron into the treasury of the LORD's house. ²⁵ But Rahab the prostitute, her father's household, and all that she had, Joshua saved alive. She lived in the midst of Israel to this day, because she hid the messengers, whom Joshua sent to spy out Jericho.

⁵ and Salmon the father of Boaz by Rahab, and Boaz was the father of Obed by Ruth, and Obed was the father of Jesse,

³¹ Which of the two did the will of his father?" They said, "The first." Jesus said to them, "Truly I tell you that the tax collectors and the prostitutes are entering into the Kingdom of God before you.

²² You see that faith worked with his works, and by works faith was perfected;

¹⁴ If he set his heart on himself, If he gathered to himself his spirit and his breath, ¹⁵ all flesh would perish together, and man would turn again to dust.

²⁹ You hide your face: they are troubled; you take away their breath: they die, and return to the dust.

⁴ His spirit departs, and he returns to the earth. In that very day, his thoughts perish.

⁷ and the dust returns to the earth as it was, and the spirit returns to God who gave it.

²² Stop trusting in man, whose breath is in his nostrils; for of what account is he?

⁴⁶ And Jesus, crying with a loud voice, said, "Father, into your hands I commit my spirit." Having said this, he breathed his last.

⁵⁹ They stoned Stephen as he called out, saying, "Lord Jesus, receive my spirit." ⁶⁰ He kneeled down, and shouted out, "Lord, do not hold this sin against them." When he had said this, he fell asleep.

²⁰ But do you want to know, foolish person, that faith apart from works is useless?
