¹ Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the chosen ones who are living as foreigners in the Diaspora in Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia, ² according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, in sanctification of the Spirit, that you may obey Jesus Christ and be sprinkled with his blood: Grace to you and peace be multiplied. ³ Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to his great mercy caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, ⁴ to an incorruptible and undefiled inheritance that does not fade away, reserved in Heaven for you, ⁵ who by the power of God are guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. ⁶ Wherein you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials, ⁷ that the genuineness of your faith, which is more precious than gold that perishes even though it is tested by fire, may be found to result in praise, glory, and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ— ⁸ whom not having seen you love; in whom, though now you do not see him, yet believing, you rejoice greatly with joy inexpressible and full of glory— ⁹ receiving the result of your faith, the salvation of your souls. ¹⁰ Concerning this salvation, the prophets sought and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that would come to you, ¹¹ searching for who or what kind of time the Spirit of Christ, which was in them, pointed to, when he predicted the sufferings of Christ, and the glories that would follow them. ¹² To them it was revealed, that not to themselves, but to you, they ministered these things, which now have been announced to you through those who preached the Good News to you by the Holy Spirit sent out from heaven; which things angels desire to look into. ¹³ Therefore, prepare your minds for action, be sober and set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. ¹⁴ As obedient children, do not be conformed to the desires as in your ignorance, ¹⁵ but just as he who called you is holy, you yourselves also be holy in all of your behavior; ¹⁶ because it is written, "Be holy, for I am holy." ¹⁷ If you call on him as Father, who without respect of persons judges according to each man's work, pass the time of your living as foreigners here in reverent fear: ¹⁸ knowing that you were redeemed, not with corruptible things, with silver or gold, from the useless way of life handed down from your fathers, ¹⁹ but with precious blood, as of an unblemished and spotless lamb, namely Christ; ²⁰ who was foreknown indeed before the foundation of the world, but was revealed in these last times for your sake, ²¹ who through him are believers in God, who raised him from the dead, and gave him glory; so that your faith and hope might be in God. ²² Seeing you have purified your souls in your obedience to the truth in sincere brotherly affection, love one another from a pure heart fervently: ²³ having been born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, through the living and abiding word of God. ²⁴ For, "All flesh is like grass, and all its glory like the flower in the grass. The grass withers, and its flower falls; ²⁵ but the word of the Lord endures forever." This is the word of Good News which was preached to you.

³³ I will scatter you among the nations, and I will draw out the sword after you: and your land will be a desolation, and your cities shall be a waste.

²⁷ The LORD will scatter you among the peoples, and you shall be left few in number among the nations, where the LORD will drive you.

⁶⁴ The LORD will scatter you among all peoples, from the one end of the earth even to the other end of the earth; and there you shall serve other gods, which you have not known, you nor your fathers, even wood and stone.

²⁶ I said, I want to cut them to pieces. I will remove the memory of them from men;

⁸ Haman said to King Achashyerosh, "There is a certain people scattered abroad and dispersed among the peoples in all the provinces of your kingdom, and their laws are different than other people's. They do not keep the king's laws. Therefore it is not for the king's profit to allow them to remain.

¹¹ You have made us like sheep for food, and have scattered us among the nations.

⁸ "'"Yet will I leave a remnant, in that you shall have some that escape the sword among the nations, when you shall be scattered through the countries.

¹⁸ And walking by the sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers: Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew, his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen.

² Now the names of the twelve apostles are these. The first, Simon, who is called Peter; and Andrew his brother; and James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother;

²² Unless those days had been shortened, no flesh would have been saved. But for the sake of the chosen ones, those days will be shortened.

⁴¹ He first found his own brother, Simon, and said to him, "We have found the Messiah." (which is translated, Christ). ⁴² He brought him to Jesus. Jesus looked at him, and said, "You are Simon the son of John. You will be called Cephas" (which is translated, Peter).

³⁵ The Jewish leaders therefore said among themselves, "Where will this man go that we won't find him? Will he go to the Diaspora among the Greeks, and teach the Greeks?

⁵² and not for the nation only, but that he might also gather together into one the children of God who are scattered abroad.

¹⁵ So when they had eaten their breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, "Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these?" He said to him, "Yes, Lord; you know that I love you." He said to him, "Feed my lambs." ¹⁶ He said to him again a second time, "Simon, son of John, do you love me?" He said to him, "Yes, Lord; you know that I love you." He said to him, "Tend my sheep." ¹⁷ He said to him the third time, "Simon, son of John, do you love me?" Peter was grieved because he asked him the third time, "Do you love me?" And he said to him, "Lord, you know everything. You know that I love you." Jesus said to him, "Feed my sheep.

⁵ Now there were dwelling in Jerusalem Jews, devout people from every nation under the sky. ⁶ When this sound was heard, the crowd came together, and were bewildered, because everyone heard them speaking in his own language. ⁷ They were all amazed and marveled, saying, "Look, are not all these who speak Galileans? ⁸ How do we hear, everyone in our own native language? ⁹ Parthians, Medes, Elamites, and people from Mesopotamia, Judea, Cappadocia, Pontus, Asia, ¹⁰ Phrygia, Pamphylia, Egypt, the parts of Libya around Cyrene, visitors from Rome, both Jews and proselytes, ¹¹ Cretans and Arabians: we hear them speaking in our tongues the mighty works of God."

⁹ But some of those who were of the synagogue called "The Libertines," and of the Cyrenians, of the Alexandrians, and of those of Cilicia and Asia arose, disputing with Stephen.

⁴ Therefore those who were scattered abroad went around proclaiming the word.

⁶ When they had gone through the region of Phrygia and Galatia, they were forbidden by the Holy Spirit to speak the word in Asia. ⁷ When they had come opposite Mysia, they tried to go into Bithynia, but the Spirit of Jesus did not allow them.

² He found a certain Jew named Aquila, a man of Pontus by race, who had recently come from Italy, with his wife Priscilla, because Claudius had commanded all the Jews to depart from Rome. He came to them,

²³ Having spent some time there, he departed, and went through the region of Galatia, and Phrygia, in order, strengthening all the disciples.

¹⁰ This continued for two years, so that all those who lived in Asia heard the word of the Lord Jesus, both Jews and Greeks.

¹⁶ For Paul had determined to sail past Ephesus, that he might not have to spend time in Asia; for he was hastening, if it were possible for him, to be in Jerusalem on the day of Pentecost. ¹⁷ From Miletus he sent to Ephesus, and called to himself the elders of the church. ¹⁸ When they had come to him, he said to them, "You yourselves know, from the first day that I set foot in Asia, how I was with you all the time,

¹⁹ The churches of Asia greet you. Aquila and Priscilla greet you much in the Lord, together with the church that is in their house.

⁸ For we do not desire to have you uninformed, brothers, concerning our affliction which happened in Asia, that we were weighed down exceedingly, beyond our power, so much that we despaired even of life.

² and all the brothers who are with me, to the churches of Galatia:

¹² that you were at that time separate from Christ, alienated from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of the promise, having no hope and without God in the world.

¹⁹ So then you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but you are fellow citizens with the saints, and of the household of God,

¹⁵ This you know, that all who are in Asia turned away from me; of whom are Phygelus and Hermogenes.

¹³ These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them and embraced them from afar, and having acknowledged that they were strangers and temporary residents on the earth.

¹ James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes which are in the Diaspora: Greetings.

¹¹ Beloved, I urge you as foreigners and temporary residents, to abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;

¹ Simeon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, to those who have obtained a like precious faith with us in the righteousness of our God and Savior, Jesus Christ:

¹¹ saying, "What you see, write on a scroll and send to the seven churches: to Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, and to Laodicea."

⁶ For you are a holy people to the LORD your God: The LORD your God has chosen you to be a people for his own possession, above all peoples who are on the face of the earth.

⁷ let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; and let him return to the LORD, and he will have mercy on him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.

⁹ And I will bring forth offspring from Jacob, and from Judah they shall inherit my mountains; and my chosen shall inherit it, and my servants shall dwell there.

²² They shall not build, and another inhabit; they shall not plant, and another eat: for as the days of a tree shall be the days of my people, and my chosen shall long enjoy the work of their hands.

¹ "Nebuchadnezzar the king, to all the peoples, nations, and languages, who dwell in all the earth: Peace be multiplied to you.

²⁵ Then king Daryavesh wrote to all the peoples, nations, and languages, who dwell in all the earth: "Peace be multiplied to you.

²⁴ For there will arise false messiahs, and false prophets, and they will show great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the chosen ones.

³¹ He will send out his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather together his chosen ones from the four winds, from one end of the sky to the other.

²⁰ Unless the Lord had shortened the days, no flesh would have been saved; but for the sake of the chosen ones, whom he picked out, he shortened the days.

²² For there will arise false messiahs and false prophets, and will show signs and wonders, that they may lead astray, if possible, the chosen ones.

²⁷ Then he will send out his angels, and will gather together his chosen ones from the four winds, from the farthest part of the earth to the farthest part of the sky.

⁷ Won't God avenge his chosen ones, who are crying out to him day and night, and yet he exercises patience with them?

¹⁶ You did not choose me, but I chose you, and appointed you, that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain; that whatever you will ask of the Father in my name, he may give it to you. ¹⁷ "I command these things to you, that you may love one another. ¹⁸ If the world hates you, you know that it has hated me before it hated you. ¹⁹ If you were of the world, the world would love its own. But because you are not of the world, since I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.

²³ him, being delivered up by the determined counsel and foreknowledge of God, by the hand of lawless men, crucified and killed;

¹⁸ known from long ago.'

³² Now I entrust you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build up, and to give you the inheritance among all those who are sanctified.

⁵ through whom we received grace and the office of apostle, for obedience of faith among all the nations, for his name's sake;

⁷ to all who are in Rome, loved by God, called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

¹³ For if you live after the flesh, you must die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.

²⁹ For whom he foreknew, he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. ³⁰ Whom he predestined, those he also called. Whom he called, those he also justified. Whom he justified, those he also glorified.

³³ Who could bring a charge against God's chosen ones? It is God who justifies.

²³ and that he might make known the riches of his glory on vessels of mercy, which he prepared beforehand for glory, ²⁴ us, whom he also called, not from the Jews only, but also from the non-Jews?

² God did not reject his people, which he foreknew. Or do you not know what the Scripture says about Elijah? How he pleads with God against Israel:

⁵ Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace. ⁶ And if by grace, then it is no longer of works; otherwise grace is no longer grace. ⁷ What then? That which Israel seeks for, that he did not obtain, but the chosen ones obtained it, and the rest were hardened.

²⁸ Concerning the Good News, they are enemies for your sake. But concerning the election, they are loved for the fathers' sake.

¹⁶ that I should be a servant of Christ Jesus to the non-Jews, serving as a priest the Good News of God, that the offering up of the non-Jews might be made acceptable, sanctified by the Holy Spirit.

¹⁹ For your obedience has become known to all. I rejoice therefore over you. But I desire to have you wise in that which is good, but innocent in that which is evil.

²⁶ but now is revealed, and by the Scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the eternal God, is made known for obedience of faith to all the nations;

³⁰ And because of him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification and redemption,

¹¹ Such were some of you, but you were washed. But you were sanctified. But you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, and in the Spirit of our God.

⁵ throwing down imaginations and every high thing that is exalted against the knowledge of God, and bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ;

¹⁴ The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with you all.

⁴ even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and without blemish before him in love; ⁵ having predestined us for adoption as children through Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his desire,

¹² Put on therefore, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, a heart of compassion, kindness, gentleness, humility, and patience;

¹³ But we are bound to always give thanks to God for you, brothers loved by the Lord, because God chose you from the beginning for salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief in the truth;

¹⁰ Therefore I endure all things for the chosen ones' sake, that they also may obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with everlasting glory.

¹ Paul, a servant of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God's chosen ones, and the knowledge of the truth which is according to godliness,

⁹ Having been made perfect, he became to all of those who obey him the author of everlasting salvation,

¹⁹ For when every commandment had been spoken by Moses to all the people according to the Law, he took the blood of the calves and the goats, with water and scarlet wool and hyssop, and sprinkled both the scroll itself and all the people, ²⁰ saying, "This is the blood of the covenant which God has commanded you." ²¹ Moreover he sprinkled the tabernacle and all the vessels of the ministry in like manner with the blood. ²² According to the Law, nearly everything is cleansed with blood, and apart from shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.

²² let us draw near with a true heart in fullness of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and having our body washed with pure water,

²⁸ By faith, he kept the Passover, and the sprinkling of the blood, that the destroyer of the firstborn should not touch them.

²⁴ to Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling that speaks better than that of Abel.

²² Seeing you have purified your souls in your obedience to the truth in sincere brotherly affection, love one another from a pure heart fervently:

⁹ But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellence of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light:

² Grace to you and peace be multiplied in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord,

¹ The elder, to the chosen lady and her children, whom I love in truth; and not I only, but also all those who know the truth;

¹³ The children of your chosen sister greet you.

² Mercy to you and peace and love be multiplied.

⁶ The LORD passed by before him, and proclaimed, "The LORD, the LORD, a merciful and gracious God, slow to anger, and abundant in loving kindness and truth,

¹⁵ He said, "Blessed is the LORD, the God of Israel, who spoke with his mouth to David your father, and has with his hand fulfilled it, saying,

¹⁰ Therefore David blessed the LORD before all the assembly; and David said, "You are blessed, LORD, the God of Israel our father, forever and ever. ¹¹ Yours, LORD, is the greatness, the power, the glory, the victory, and the majesty. For all that is in the heavens and in the earth is yours. Yours is the kingdom, LORD, and you are exalted as head above all. ¹² Both riches and honor come from you, and you rule over all; and in your hand is power and might; and it is in your hand to make great, and to give strength to all. ¹³ Now therefore, our God, we thank you, and praise your glorious name.

²⁰ David said to all the assembly, "Now bless the LORD your God." All the assembly blessed the LORD, the God of their fathers, and bowed down their heads and prostrated themselves before the LORD and the king.

¹³ Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, from everlasting and to everlasting. Amen and amen.

¹⁸ Praise be to the LORD, the God of Israel, who alone does marvelous deeds. ¹⁹ Blessed be his glorious name forever. Let the whole earth be filled with his glory. Amen and amen.

⁵ For you, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive; abundant in loving kindness to all those who call on you.

¹⁵ But you, Lord, are a merciful and gracious God, slow to anger, and abundant in loving kindness and truth.

¹⁹ Your dead shall live; my dead bodies shall rise. Awake and shout for joy, you who dwell in the dust; for your dew is like the dew of the dawn, and the earth shall bring forth the departed spirits.

² He prayed to the LORD, and said, "Please, LORD, wasn't this what I said when I was still in my own country? Therefore I hurried to flee to Tarshish, for I knew that you are a gracious God, and merciful, slow to anger, and abundant in loving kindness, and you relent of doing harm.

¹³ who were born not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

³ Jesus answered him, "Truly, truly, I tell you, unless one is born again he cannot see the Kingdom of God." ⁴ Nicodemus said to him, "How can anyone be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother's womb, and be born?" ⁵ Jesus answered, "Truly, truly, I tell you, unless one is born of water and Spirit he cannot enter into the Kingdom of God. ⁶ That which is born of the flesh is flesh. That which is born of the Spirit is spirit. ⁷ Do not be surprised that I said to you, 'You must be born again.' ⁸ The wind blows where it wants to, and you hear its sound, but do not know where it comes from and where it is going. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit."

²⁵ who was delivered up for our trespasses, and was raised for our justification.

⁴ and perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope: ⁵ and hope does not disappoint us, because God's love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

¹⁰ For if, while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we will be saved by his life.

¹⁵ But the free gift is not like the trespass. For if by the trespass of the one the many died, much more did the grace of God, and the gift by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, abound to the many. ¹⁶ The gift is not as through one who sinned: for the judgment came by one to condemnation, but the free gift came of many trespasses to justification. ¹⁷ For if by the trespass of the one, death reigned through the one; so much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one, Jesus Christ. ¹⁸ So then as through one trespass, all people were condemned; even so through one act of righteousness, all people were justified to life. ¹⁹ For as through the one man's disobedience many were made sinners, even so through the obedience of the one, many will be made righteous. ²⁰ The law came in besides, that the trespass might abound; but where sin abounded, grace abounded more exceedingly; ²¹ that as sin reigned in death, even so grace might reign through righteousness to everlasting life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

¹¹ But if the Spirit of him who raised up Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised up Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.

²⁴ For we were saved in hope, but hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for that which he sees?

¹² rejoicing in hope; enduring in troubles; continuing steadfastly in prayer;

¹³ Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope, in the power of the Holy Spirit.

¹³ But now faith, hope, and love remain—these three. The greatest of these is love.

²⁰ But now Christ has been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who are asleep.

³ Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort;

³ Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ;

⁷ in whom we have our redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace,

¹⁷ that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him;

⁴ But God, being rich in mercy, for his great love with which he loved us,

⁶ and raised us up with him, and made us to sit with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, ⁷ that in the ages to come he might show the exceeding riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus; ⁸ for by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, ⁹ not of works, that no one would boast. ¹⁰ For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared before that we would walk in them.

²⁰ Now to him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,

²³ if it is so that you continue in the faith, established and firm, and not moved away from the hope of the Good News which you heard, which is being proclaimed in all creation under heaven; of which I, Paul, have become a servant.

²⁷ to them God was pleased to make known the glorious riches of this mystery among the non-Jews, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory;

³ remembering without ceasing your work of faith and labor of love and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, before our God and Father.

¹³ But we do not want you to be ignorant, brothers, concerning those who have fallen asleep, so that you do not grieve like the rest, who have no hope.

¹⁴ The grace of our Lord abounded exceedingly with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.

¹³ looking for the blessed hope and appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ;

⁴ But when the kindness of God our Savior and his love toward humankind appeared, ⁵ not by works of righteousness, which we did ourselves, but according to his mercy, he saved us, through the washing of rebirth and renewing by the Holy Spirit, ⁶ whom he poured out on us richly, through Jesus Christ our Savior;

⁶ but Christ is faithful as a Son over his house; whose house we are, if we hold fast our confidence and the boast of our hope.

¹⁸ that by two immutable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we may have a strong encouragement, who have fled for refuge to take hold of the hope set before us. ¹⁹ This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, a hope both sure and steadfast and entering into that which is within the curtain;

¹⁸ Of his own will he brought us forth by the word of truth, that we should be a kind of first fruits of his creatures.

²³ having been born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, through the living and abiding word of God.

² as newborn babies, long for the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby to salvation,

²¹ This is a symbol of baptism, which now saves you—not the removal of dirt from the body, but an appeal to God for a good conscience, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,

²⁹ If you know that he is righteous, you know that everyone also who practices righteousness is born of him.

³ Everyone who has this hope set on him purifies himself, even as he is pure.

⁹ Whoever is born of God does not commit sin, because his seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

⁷ Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God, and knows God.

¹ Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God. Whoever loves the Father also loves the child who is born of him.

⁴ For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world: our faith.

¹⁸ We know that whoever is born of God does not sin, but he who was born of God protects him, and the evil one does not touch him.

¹⁹ Oh how great is your goodness, which you have stored up for those who fear you, which you have worked for those who take refuge in you, before the descendants of Adam.

⁷ The grass withers, the flower fades, because the LORD's breath blows on it. Surely the people are like grass. ⁸ The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of the LORD stands forever."

¹² By the river on its bank, on this side and on that side, shall grow every tree for food, whose leaf shall not wither, neither shall its fruit fail: it shall bring forth new fruit every month, because its waters issue out of the sanctuary; and its fruit shall be for food, and its leaf for healing."

³⁴ Then the King will tell those on his right hand, 'Come, blessed of my Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world;

¹⁸ to open their eyes, that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in me.'

¹⁷ and if children, then heirs; heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ; if indeed we suffer with him, that we may also be glorified with him.

²⁵ Now everyone who competes in the games exercises self-control in all things. Now they do it to receive a corruptible crown, but we an incorruptible.

⁵² in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we will be changed. ⁵³ For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. ⁵⁴ But when this corruptible will have put on incorruption, and this mortal will have put on immortality, then what is written will happen: "Death is swallowed up in victory."

¹⁸ For if the inheritance is of the law, it is no more of promise; but God has granted it to Abraham by promise.

¹¹ in whom also we were assigned an inheritance, having been foreordained according to the purpose of him who works all things after the counsel of his will;

¹⁴ who is a pledge of our inheritance, to the redemption of God's own possession, to the praise of his glory.

¹⁸ having the eyes of your heart enlightened, that you may know what is the hope of his calling, and what are the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,

⁵ because of the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, of which you heard before in the word of truth, the Good News,

¹² giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the light;

³ For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. ⁴ When Christ, your life, is revealed, then you will also be revealed with him in glory.

⁸ From now on, there is stored up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will give to me on that day; and not to me only, but also to all those who have loved his appearing.

¹⁵ For this reason he is the mediator of a new covenant, since a death has occurred for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first covenant, that those who have been called may receive the promise of the everlasting inheritance.

¹¹ For the sun arises with the scorching wind, and withers the grass, and the flower in it falls, and the beauty of its appearance perishes. So also will the rich person fade away in his pursuits.

⁹ not rendering evil for evil, or reviling for reviling; but instead blessing; because to this were you called, that you may inherit a blessing.

⁴ When the chief Shepherd is revealed, you will receive the crown of glory that does not fade away.

²⁷ There will in no way enter into it anything profane, or one who causes an abomination or a lie, but only those who are written in the Lamb's Book of Life.

⁹ He will guard the feet of his faithful ones, but the wicked will be put to silence in darkness. For no man will prevail by strength.

²⁵ But as for me, I know that my Redeemer lives. In the end, he will stand upon the earth.

²³ The steps of a man are established by the LORD, and he delights in his way. ²⁴ Though he stumble, he shall not fall, for the LORD holds him up with his hand.

²⁸ For the LORD loves justice, and doesn't forsake his faithful ones. They are preserved forever, but the children of the wicked shall be cut off.

¹⁷ But the LORD's loving kindness is from everlasting to everlasting with those who fear him, his righteousness to children's children; ¹⁸ to those who keep his covenant, to those who remember to obey his precepts.

¹ [A Song of Ascents.] Those who trust in the LORD are as Mount Zion, which cannot be moved, but remains forever. ² As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the LORD surrounds his people from this time forth and forevermore.

⁸ that he may guard the paths of justice, and preserve the way of his faithful ones.

¹⁷ Israel will be saved by the LORD with an everlasting salvation. You will not be disappointed nor confounded to ages everlasting.

⁶ Lift up your eyes to the heavens, and look on the earth beneath; for the heavens shall vanish away like smoke, and the earth shall wax old like a garment; and those who dwell in it shall die in the same way: but my salvation shall be forever, and my righteousness shall not be abolished.

¹⁷ No weapon that is formed against you will prosper; and you will condemn every tongue that rises against you in judgment. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness which is of me," says the LORD.

⁴⁰ and I will make an everlasting covenant with them, that I will not turn away from following them, to do them good; and I will put my fear in their hearts, that they may not depart from me.

¹⁴ but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never thirst again; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to everlasting life."

²⁴ "Truly, truly, I tell you, he who hears my word, and believes him who sent me, has everlasting life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life.

²⁸ I give everlasting life to them. They will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. ²⁹ My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all. No one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand. ³⁰ I and the Father are one."

⁴⁸ He who rejects me, and does not accept my words, has one who judges him. The word that I spoke will judge him on the last day.

¹¹ I am no more in the world, but they are in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, keep them through your name which you have given me, that they may be one, even as we are. ¹² While I was with them, I kept them in your name which you have given me, and I guarded them, and not one of them perished, except the son of destruction, that the Scripture might be fulfilled.

¹⁵ I pray not that you would take them from the world, but that you would keep them from the evil one.

³¹ What then are we to say about these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? ³² He who did not spare his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how would he not also with him freely give us all things? ³³ Who could bring a charge against God's chosen ones? It is God who justifies. ³⁴ Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and more than that, who was raised, who is at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us. ³⁵ Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Could oppression, or anguish, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? ³⁶ Even as it is written, "For your sake we are killed all day long. We were regarded as sheep to be slaughtered." ³⁷ No, in all these things, we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. ³⁸ For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, ³⁹ nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

²⁰ True; by their unbelief they were broken off, and you stand by your faith. Do not be conceited, but fear;

²⁴ Not that we rule over your faith, but are fellow workers with you for your joy. For you stand firm in faith.

²⁰ I have been crucified with Christ, and it is no longer I that live, but Christ living in me. That life which I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself up for me.

⁸ for by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,

¹⁷ that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; to the end that you, being rooted and grounded in love,

⁶ being confident of this very thing, that he who began a good work in you will complete it until the day of Christ Jesus.

³ remembering without ceasing your work of faith and labor of love and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, before our God and Father. ⁴ We know, brothers loved by God, that you are chosen,

¹³ But we are bound to always give thanks to God for you, brothers loved by the Lord, because God chose you from the beginning for salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief in the truth; ¹⁴ to which he called you through our Good News, for the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

¹⁴ that you keep the commandment without spot, blameless, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ; ¹⁵ which in its own times he will show, who is the blessed and only Ruler, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;

¹⁵ From infancy, you have known the holy Scriptures which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith, which is in Christ Jesus.

¹² that you won't be sluggish, but imitators of those who through faith and patience inherited the promises.

²⁸ so Christ also, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, without sin, to those who are eagerly waiting for him for salvation.

¹³ Therefore, prepare your minds for action, be sober and set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

² Beloved, now we are children of God, and it is not yet revealed what we will be. We know that, when he is revealed, we will be like him; for we will see him just as he is.

¹ Jude, a servant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James, to those who are called, loved by God the Father, and kept for Jesus Christ:

²⁴ Now to him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory in great joy,

¹ Hannah prayed, and said: "My heart exults in the LORD. My horn is exalted in my God. My mouth is enlarged over my enemies, because I rejoice in your salvation.

²⁷ If I say, 'I will forget my complaint, I will put off my sad face, and cheer up;' ²⁸ I am afraid of all my sorrows, I know that you will not hold me innocent.

¹⁴ so that I may tell all your praise in the gates of the daughter of Zion. I will rejoice in your salvation.

¹⁹ Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the LORD delivers him out of them all.

¹⁰ All my bones shall say, "LORD, who is like you, who delivers the poor from him who is too strong for him; yes, the poor and the needy from him who robs him?"

²⁰ Insults have broken my heart, so that I am in despair. I looked for some to take pity, but there was none; for comforters, but I found none.

¹ Oh come, let's sing to the LORD. Let's shout aloud to the rock of our salvation.

²⁸ My soul is weary with sorrow: strengthen me according to your word.

⁷⁵ LORD, I know that your judgments are righteous, that in faithfulness you have humbled me.

² Look, in the God of my salvation I will trust, and will not be afraid. For the LORD is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation." ³ Therefore with joy you will draw water out of the wells of salvation.

³ to appoint to those who mourn in Zion, to give to them a garland for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they may be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he may be glorified.

¹⁰ I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he has clothed me with the garments of salvation, he has covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decks himself with a garland, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.

³² For though he may cause grief, yet he will have compassion according to the abundance of his loving kindness. ³³ For he is not predisposed to bring affliction or suffering to human beings.

¹² Rejoice, and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven. For that is how they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

²⁸ "Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest.

³⁷ He took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowful and severely troubled.

⁴⁷ And my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,

¹⁰ The angel said to them, "Do not be afraid, for see, I bring you good news of great joy which will be to all the people.

²⁰ Nevertheless, do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven."

²² Therefore you have sorrow now, but I will see you again, and your heart will rejoice, and no one will take your joy away from you.

³³ I have told you these things, that in me you may have peace. In the world you have oppression; but cheer up. I have overcome the world."

²² confirming the souls of the disciples, exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that through many afflictions we must enter into the Kingdom of God.

² through whom we also have our access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

¹¹ Not only so, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation.

² that I have great sorrow and unceasing anguish in my heart.

⁹ For, I think that God has displayed us, the apostles, last of all, like men sentenced to death. For we are made a spectacle to the world, both to angels and people. ¹⁰ We are fools for Christ's sake, but you are wise in Christ. We are weak, but you are strong. You have honor, but we have dishonor. ¹¹ Even to this present hour we hunger, thirst, are naked, are beaten, and have no certain dwelling place. ¹² We toil, working with our own hands. When people curse us, we bless. Being persecuted, we endure. ¹³ Being defamed, we entreat. We are made as the filth of the world, the dirt wiped off by all, even until now.

⁷ But we have this treasure in clay vessels, that the exceeding greatness of the power may be of God, and not from ourselves. ⁸ We are pressed on every side, yet not crushed; perplexed, yet not to despair; ⁹ pursued, yet not forsaken; struck down, yet not destroyed; ¹⁰ always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body. ¹¹ For we who live are always delivered to death for Jesus' sake, that the life also of Jesus may be revealed in our mortal flesh.

¹⁷ For this momentary light affliction is working for us a far more exceeding and everlasting weight of glory;

¹⁰ as sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all things.

²³ Are they servants of Christ? (I speak as one beside himself) I am more so; in labors more abundantly, in prisons more abundantly, in stripes above measure, in deaths often. ²⁴ Five times from the Jews I received forty stripes minus one. ²⁵ Three times I was beaten with rods. Once I was stoned. Three times I suffered shipwreck. I have been a night and a day in the deep. ²⁶ I have been in travels often, perils of rivers, perils of robbers, perils from my countrymen, perils from those who are not Jews, perils in the city, perils in the wilderness, perils in the sea, perils among false brothers; ²⁷ in labor and travail, in watchings often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, and in cold and nakedness.

⁹ He has said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for power is made perfect in weakness." Most gladly therefore I will rather glory in my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may rest on me. ¹⁰ Therefore I take pleasure in weaknesses, in injuries, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ's sake. For when I am weak, then am I strong.

²² But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,

²⁶ since he longed for you all, and was very troubled, because you had heard that he was sick.

³ For we are the circumcision, who worship God in the Spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh;

⁴ Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, Rejoice.

⁶ You became imitators of us, and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Spirit,

³⁵ Women received their dead by resurrection. And others were tortured, not accepting the payment for release, that they might obtain a better resurrection. ³⁶ Others were tried by mocking and scourging, yes, moreover by bonds and imprisonment. ³⁷ They were stoned, they were sawed apart, they were put to the test, they were killed with the sword. They went around in sheepskins and in goatskins, being destitute, afflicted, mistreated ³⁸ (of whom the world was not worthy), wandering in deserts, mountains, caves, and the holes of the earth.

⁷ If you are enduring discipline, God is dealing with you as children. For what child is there whom his father does not discipline? ⁸ But if you are without discipline, of which all have been made partakers, then you are illegitimate, and not children. ⁹ Furthermore, we had earthly fathers who disciplined us, and we paid them respect. Should we not much rather be subject to the Father of spirits, and live? ¹⁰ For they indeed, for a few days, disciplined us as seemed good to them; but he for our profit, that we may be partakers of his holiness. ¹¹ All discipline seems for the moment painful, not joyful; yet afterward it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been exercised thereby.

² Count it all joy, my brothers, when you encounter various trials,

⁹ But let the brother in humble circumstances glory in his high position;

⁹ Lament, mourn, and weep. Let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to gloom.

⁷ that the genuineness of your faith, which is more precious than gold that perishes even though it is tested by fire, may be found to result in praise, glory, and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ— ⁸ whom not having seen you love; in whom, though now you do not see him, yet believing, you rejoice greatly with joy inexpressible and full of glory—

⁷ But the end of all things is near. Therefore be serious and disciplined in your prayers.

¹² Beloved, do not be astonished at the fiery trial which has come upon you, to test you, as though a strange thing happened to you. ¹³ But because you are partakers of Christ's sufferings, rejoice; that at the revelation of his glory you also may rejoice with exceeding joy.

¹⁰ And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen and establish you.

³⁰ "Therefore the LORD, the God of Israel, says, 'I said indeed that your house, and the house of your father, should walk before me forever.' But now the LORD says, 'Be it far from me; for those who honor me I will honor, and those who despise me shall be lightly esteemed.

¹⁰ But he knows the way that I take. When he has tried me, I shall come forth like gold.

¹⁰ For you, God, have tested us. You have refined us, as silver is refined. ¹¹ You brought us into prison. You laid a burden on our backs. ¹² You allowed men to ride over our heads. We went through fire and through water, but you brought us to the place of abundance.

¹³ Blessed is the man who finds wisdom, the man who gets understanding. ¹⁴ For her good profit is better than getting silver, and her return is better than fine gold. ¹⁵ She is more precious than rubies. None of the things you can desire are to be compared to her.

¹⁹ My fruit is better than gold, yes, than fine gold; my yield than choice silver.

¹⁶ How much better it is to get wisdom than gold. Yes, to get understanding is to be chosen rather than silver.

³ The refining pot is for silver, and the furnace for gold, but the LORD tests the hearts.

¹⁴ Those riches perish by misfortune, and if he has fathered a son, there is nothing in his hand.

¹⁰ Look, I have refined you, but not as silver; I have chosen you in the furnace of affliction.

⁷ Therefore thus says the LORD of hosts, "Look, I will melt them, and try them; for how should I deal with the wickedness of the daughter of my people?

³⁶ Therefore my heart sounds for Moab like pipes, and my heart sounds like pipes for the men of Kir Heres: therefore the abundance that he has gotten is perished.

⁹ I will bring the third part into the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will test them like gold is tested. They will call on my name, and I will hear them. I will say, 'It is my people;' and they will say, 'The LORD is my God.'"

³ And he will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver, and he will purify the sons of Levi, and refine them as gold and silver; and they shall offer to the LORD offerings in righteousness.

²⁸ Jesus said to them, "Truly I tell you that you who have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of Man will sit on the throne of his glory, you also will sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

²¹ "His lord said to him, 'Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a few things, I will set you over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.'

²³ "His lord said to him, 'Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a few things, I will set you over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.'

²⁰ "But God said to him, 'You foolish one, tonight your soul is required of you. The things which you have prepared—whose will they be?' ²¹ So is he who lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God."

³³ Sell that which you have, and give gifts to the needy. Make for yourselves purses which do not grow old, a treasure in the heavens that does not fail, where no thief approaches, neither moth destroys.

⁴⁴ How can you believe, who receive glory from one another, and you do not seek the glory that comes from the only God?

²⁶ If anyone serves me, let him follow me; and where I am, there will my servant also be. If anyone serves me, the Father will honor him.

²⁰ But Peter said to him, "May your silver perish with you, because you thought you could obtain the gift of God with money.

⁷ to those who by perseverance in good works seek glory and honor and immortality -- everlasting life.

²⁹ but he is a Jew who is one inwardly, and circumcision is that of the heart, by the Spirit, not in the letter; whose praise is not from people, but from God.

³ Not only this, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering works perseverance; ⁴ and perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope:

¹³ each man's work will be revealed. For the Day will declare it, because it is revealed in fire; and the fire itself will test what sort of work each man's work is.

⁵ Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord comes, who will both bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and reveal the counsels of the hearts. Then each one will get his praise from God.

⁷ and to give relief to you who are afflicted with us, when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with his mighty angels in flaming fire, ⁸ giving vengeance to those who do not know God, and to those who do not obey the Good News of our Lord Jesus, ⁹ who will pay the penalty: everlasting destruction from the face of the Lord and from the glory of his might, ¹⁰ when he comes to be glorified in his saints, and to be marveled at among all those who have believed, because our testimony to you was believed. ¹¹ To this end we also pray always for you, that our God may count you worthy of your calling, and fulfill every desire of goodness and work of faith, with power; ¹² that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

³ knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. ⁴ Let endurance have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.

¹² Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial, for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life, which he promised to those who love him.

² Your riches are corrupted and your garments are moth-eaten. ³ Your gold and your silver are corroded, and their corrosion will be for a testimony against you, and will eat your flesh like fire. You have laid up your treasure in the last days.

⁵ who by the power of God are guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

⁴ coming to him, a living stone, though rejected by people but chosen by God, precious.

⁷ For you who believe therefore is the honor, but for those who do not believe, "The stone which the builders rejected, has become the chief cornerstone,"

¹² Beloved, do not be astonished at the fiery trial which has come upon you, to test you, as though a strange thing happened to you.

⁴ by which he has granted to us his precious and exceedingly great promises; that through these you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world by lust.

¹⁰ But the day of the Lord will come as a thief; in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will be dissolved with fervent heat, and the earth and the works on it will not be found. ¹¹ Therefore since all these things will be destroyed like this, what kind of people ought you to be in holy living and godliness, ¹² looking for and earnestly desiring the coming of the day of God, which will cause the burning heavens to be dissolved, and the elements will melt with fervent heat?

⁷ Look, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, including those who pierced him. And all the tribes of the earth will mourn over him. Even so, Amen.

¹⁰ Do not be afraid of the things which you are about to suffer. Look, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested; and you will have oppression for ten days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.

¹⁰ Because you kept my command to endure, I also will keep you from the hour of testing, which is to come on the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth.

¹⁸ I counsel you to buy from me gold refined by fire, that you may become rich; and white garments, that you may clothe yourself, and that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and eye salve to put on your eyes, that you may see.

¹⁶ saying, 'Woe, woe, the great city, she who was dressed in fine linen, purple, and scarlet, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls. ¹⁷ For in an hour such great riches are made desolate.' Every shipmaster, and everyone who sails anywhere, and mariners, and as many as gain their living by sea, stood far away,

⁷ Tell me, you whom my soul loves, where you graze your flock, where you rest them at noon; For why should I be as one who is veiled beside the flocks of your companions?

⁹ How is your beloved better than another beloved, you fairest among women? How is your beloved better than another beloved, that you do so adjure us?

¹⁶ His mouth is sweetness; yes, he is altogether lovely. This is my beloved, and this is my friend, daughters of Jerusalem.

¹⁷ For though the fig tree doesn't flourish, nor fruit be in the vines; the labor of the olive fails, the fields yield no food; the flocks are cut off from the fold, and there is no herd in the stalls: ¹⁸ yet I will rejoice in the LORD. I will be joyful in the God of my salvation.

³⁷ Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.

³⁵ for I was hungry, and you gave me food to eat. I was thirsty, and you gave me drink. I was a stranger, and you took me in. ³⁶ I was naked, and you clothed me. I was sick, and you visited me. I was in prison, and you came to me.' ³⁷ "Then the righteous will answer him, saying, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry, and feed you; or thirsty, and give you a drink? ³⁸ When did we see you as a stranger, and take you in; or naked, and clothe you? ³⁹ When did we see you sick, or in prison, and come to you?' ⁴⁰ "The King will answer them, 'Truly I tell you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.'

⁴² Therefore Jesus said to them, "If God were your father, you would love me, for I came out and have come from God. For I have not come of myself, but he sent me.

¹⁵ If you love me, you will keep my commandments.

²¹ The one who has my commandments and keeps them is the one who loves me. And the one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him, and will reveal myself to him."

²⁴ He who does not love me does not keep my words. The word which you hear is not mine, but the Father's who sent me.

²⁹ Jesus said to him, "Because you have seen me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen, and have believed."

³⁴ He brought them up into his house, and set food before them, and rejoiced greatly, with all his household, having believed in God.

¹⁷ for the Kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit.

²² If anyone does not love the Lord, a curse be on him. Our Lord, come.

²² who also sealed us, and gave us the down payment of the Spirit in our hearts.

¹⁸ while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are everlasting.

⁷ for we walk by faith, not by sight.

¹⁴ For the love of Christ constrains us; because we judge thus, that one died for all, therefore all died. ¹⁵ He died for all, that those who live should no longer live to themselves, but to him who for their sakes died and rose again.

¹⁵ Thanks be to God for his inexpressible gift.

⁴ how he was caught up into Paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a human to utter.

⁶ For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision amounts to anything, nor uncircumcision, but faith working through love.

¹³ in whom you also, having heard the word of the truth, the Good News of your salvation,—in whom, having also believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, ¹⁴ who is a pledge of our inheritance, to the redemption of God's own possession, to the praise of his glory.

²⁴ Grace be with all those who love our Lord Jesus Christ with incorruptible love.

²⁵ And since I am persuaded of this, I know that I will remain and continue with all of you for your progress and joy in the faith,

¹ Now faith is being confident of what we hope for, convinced about things we do not see.

²⁷ By faith, he left Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king; for he endured, as seeing him who is invisible.

⁶ Wherein you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials,

¹⁹ We love, because he first loved us. ²⁰ If anyone says, "I love God," and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, cannot love God whom he has not seen.

²² But now, being made free from sin, and having become slaves of God, you have your fruit of sanctification, and the result of everlasting life.

²¹ Therefore, putting away all filthiness and overflowing of wickedness, receive with humility the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.

¹⁰ The scepter will not depart from Judah, nor the rulerʼs staff from between his feet, until he comes to whom it belongs. And it is he whom the peoples will obey.

⁴ If you seek her as silver, and search for her as for hidden treasures:

⁴⁴ In the days of those kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed, nor shall its sovereignty be left to another people; but it shall break in pieces and consume all those kingdoms, and it shall stand forever.

³ And I turned to the Lord God, to seek by prayer and petitions, with fasting and sackcloth and ashes.

⁷ and I will shake all nations, and they will come with the treasures of all nations, and I will fill this house with glory, says the LORD of hosts.

¹² and speak to him, saying, 'Thus says the LORD of hosts, "Look, the man whose name is the Branch: and he shall grow up out of his place; and he shall build the temple of the LORD;

¹⁷ For truly I tell you that many prophets and righteous people desired to see the things which you see, and did not see them; and to hear the things which you hear, and did not hear them.

²⁴ The Son of Man goes, even as it is written of him, but woe to that man through whom the Son of Man is betrayed. It would be better for that man if he had not been born."

²⁴ for I tell you that many prophets and kings desired to see the things which you see, and did not see them, and to hear the things which you hear, and did not hear them."

²⁵ Then he said to them, "O foolish ones, and slow of heart to believe in all that the prophets have spoken. ²⁶ Did not the Christ have to suffer these things and to enter into his glory?" ²⁷ Beginning from Moses and from all the prophets, he explained to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning himself.

⁴⁴ And he said to them, "This is what I told you, while I was still with you, that all things which are written in the Law of Moses, the Prophets, and the Psalms, concerning me must be fulfilled."

³⁹ You search the Scriptures, because you think that in them you have everlasting life; and these are they which testify about me.

⁵² They answered him, "Are you also from Galilee? Search, and see that no prophet comes from Galilee."

²² For Moses indeed said to the fathers, 'The Lord your God will raise up a prophet for you from among your brothers, like me. You must listen to him in all things whatever he says to you. ²³ It will be, that every soul that will not listen to that prophet will be utterly destroyed from among the people.' ²⁴ Yes, and all the prophets from Samuel and those who followed after, as many as have spoken, they also told of these days.

⁵² Which of the prophets did not your fathers persecute? They killed those who foretold the coming of the Righteous One, of whom you have now become betrayers and murderers.

⁴³ All the prophets testify about him, that through his name everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins."

²⁷ For those who dwell in Jerusalem, and their rulers, because they did not know him, nor the voices of the prophets which are read every Sabbath, fulfilled them by condemning him. ²⁸ Though they found no cause for death, they still asked Pilate to have him killed. ²⁹ When they had fulfilled all things that were written about him, they took him down from the tree, and placed him in a tomb.

¹¹ Now these were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of the mind, examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so.

²³ When they had appointed him a day, many people came to him at his lodging. He explained to them, testifying about the Kingdom of God, and persuading them concerning Jesus, both from the Law of Moses and from the Prophets, from morning until evening.

⁴⁰ God having provided some better thing concerning us, so that apart from us they should not be made perfect.

¹¹ searching for who or what kind of time the Spirit of Christ, which was in them, pointed to, when he predicted the sufferings of Christ, and the glories that would follow them.

¹⁹ We have the more sure word of prophecy; and you do well that you heed it, as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns, and the morning star arises in your hearts: ²⁰ knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of private interpretation. ²¹ For no prophecy ever came by human will, but people spoke from God, being moved by the Holy Spirit.

¹⁵ I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring. He will bruise your head, and you will bruise his heel."

Why are you so far from helping me, and from the words of my groaning? ² My God, I cry in the daytime, but you do not answer; in the night season, and am not silent. ³ But you are holy, you who inhabit the praises of Israel. ⁴ Our fathers trusted in you. They trusted, and you delivered them. ⁵ They cried to you, and escaped. They trusted in you, and were not put to shame. ⁶ But I am a worm, and no man; scorned by people and despised by the people. ⁷ All those who see me mock me. They insult me with their lips. They are cut off from your hand. ⁶ You have laid me in the lowest pit, in the darkest depths. ⁷ Your wrath lies heavily on me. You have afflicted me with all your waves. On the holy mountains at sunrise the dew of your youth will be yours. ⁴ The LORD has sworn, and will not change his mind: "You are a priest forever in the order of Melchizedek." ⁵ The LORD is at your right hand. ⁶ For to us a child is born. ¹³ Look, my servant shall deal wisely, he shall be exalted and lifted up, and shall be very high. ¹⁴ Just as many were astonished at you (his appearance was marred more than any man, and his form more than the sons of men),

¹ LORD, who has believed our message? And to whom has the arm of the LORD been revealed? ² For he grew up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of dry ground. He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him, nor special appearance that we should desire him. ³ He was despised, and rejected by people; a man of sorrows, and familiar with illness; and as one from whom people hide their face. He was despised, and we did not value him. ⁴ Surely he bore our diseases, and took our pains; yet we considered him stricken, and struck down by God, and afflicted. ⁵ But he was pierced for our transgressions, and he was crushed for our iniquities. ³⁴ You saw until a stone was cut out without hands, which struck the image on its feet that were of iron and clay, and broke them in pieces. ³⁵ Then was the iron, the clay, the bronze, the silver, and the gold, broken in pieces together, and became like the chaff of the summer threshing floors; and the wind carried them away, so that no place was found for them: and the stone that struck the image became a great mountain, and filled the whole earth.

¹³ I saw in the night visions, and look, there came with the clouds of the sky one like a son of man, and he came even to the Ancient of Days, and they brought him near before him. ¹⁴ There was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all the peoples, nations, and languages should serve him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.

²⁴ Seventy weeks are decreed on your people and on your holy city, to put an end to the transgression, and to make an end to sin, and to atone for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most holy place. ²⁵ Know therefore and understand that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem until the time of the Messiah, the Prince, there shall be seven weeks, and sixty-two weeks. It shall be built again, with open spaces and a moat, but in times of distress. ²⁶ After the sixty-two weeks the Messiah shall be cut off, and shall have nothing. And the people of a ruler who shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and his end shall come with a flood, and until the end there shall be war; desolations are decreed.

¹⁸ The word of the LORD of hosts came to me. ¹⁹ Thus says the LORD of hosts: "The fasts of the fourth fifth, seventh, and tenth months shall be for the house of Judah joy and gladness, and cheerful feasts. Therefore love truth and peace." ²⁰ Thus says the LORD of hosts: "Many peoples and the inhabitants of many cities will yet come; ²¹ and the inhabitants of one shall go to another, saying, 'Let us go speedily to entreat the favor of the LORD, and to seek the LORD of hosts. I will go also.'

⁷ "Awake, sword, against my shepherd, and against the man who is close to me," says the LORD of hosts. "I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered; and I will turn my hand against the little ones.

⁹ The LORD will be King over all the earth. In that day the LORD will be one, and his name one.

⁴¹ Isaiah said these things because he saw his glory, and spoke of him.

²² Having therefore obtained the help that is from God, I stand to this day testifying both to small and great, saying nothing but what the Prophets and Moses said would happen, ²³ how the Christ would suffer, and how, by the resurrection of the dead, he would be first to proclaim light both to these people and to non-Jewish people."

⁹ But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if it is so that the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to him.

⁶ And because you are children, God sent out the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, "Abba, Father."

¹⁸ Because Christ also suffered for sins once, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring you to God; being put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit; ¹⁹ in which he also went and made a proclamation to the spirits in prison,

²¹ For no prophecy ever came by human will, but people spoke from God, being moved by the Holy Spirit.

¹⁰ I fell down before his feet to worship him. He said to me, "Look. Do not do it. I am a fellow servant with you and with your brothers who hold the testimony of Jesus. Worship God, for the testimony of Jesus is the Spirit of Prophecy."

²⁰ The cherubim shall spread out their wings upward, covering the mercy seat with their wings, with their faces toward one another. The faces of the cherubim shall be toward the mercy seat.

²³ Turn at my reproof. Look, I will pour out my spirit on you. I will make known my words to you.

² The Spirit of the LORD will rest on him: the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD. ³ His delight will be in the fear of the LORD. He will not judge by the sight of his eyes, neither decide by the hearing of his ears; ⁴ but with righteousness he will judge the poor, and decide with equity for the humble of the earth. He will strike the earth with the rod of his mouth; and with the breath of his lips he will kill the wicked. ⁵ Righteousness will be the belt of his waist, and faithfulness the belt of his waist. ⁶ The wolf will live with the lamb, and the leopard will lie down with the young goat; The calf and the young lion will graze together; and a little child will lead them.

¹⁵ Until the Spirit is poured on us from on high, and the wilderness becomes a fruitful field, and the fruitful field is considered a forest.

³ For I will pour water upon the thirsty, and streams on the dry ground. I will pour my Spirit on your offspring, and my blessing on your descendants: ⁴ and they will spring up among the grass, as willows by the watercourses. ⁵ One will say, 'I am the LORD's;' and another will be called by the name of Jacob; and another will write with his hand 'to the LORD,' and honor the name of Israel."

¹ LORD, who has believed our message? And to whom has the arm of the LORD been revealed?

¹⁹ Then was the secret revealed to Daniel in a vision of the night. Then Daniel blessed the God of heaven.

²² he reveals the deep and secret things; he knows what is in the darkness, and the light dwells with him.

²⁸ but there is a God in heaven who reveals secrets, and he has made known to king Nebuchadnezzar what shall be in the latter days. Your dream, and the visions of your head on your bed, are these: ²⁹ as for you, O king, your thoughts came into your mind on your bed, what should happen hereafter; and he who reveals secrets has made known to you what shall happen.

⁴⁷ The king answered Daniel and said, "Surely your God is the God of gods, and the Lord of kings, and a revealer of secrets, seeing you have been able to reveal this secret."

¹³ Then I heard a holy one speaking; and another holy one said to that certain one who spoke, "How long shall be the vision concerning the daily sacrifice, and the transgression that makes desolate, to give both the sanctuary and the host to be trampled?"

²⁴ Seventy weeks are decreed on your people and on your holy city, to put an end to the transgression, and to make an end to sin, and to atone for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most holy place.

¹ In the third year of Koresh king of Persia a word was revealed to Daniel, whose name was called Belteshazzar; and the word was true: a great war. And he understood the word, and had understanding of the vision.

⁵ Then I, Daniel, looked, and look, two others stood, one on this bank of the river, and one on the other bank of the river. ⁶ And one said to the man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, "How long shall it be till these wonders take place?"

⁹ And he said, "Go your way, Daniel, for the words are shut up and sealed until the time of the end.

¹³ But go your way until the end. For you shall rest, and shall rise to receive your reward at the end of the days.

²⁸ "And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh; and your sons and your daughters will prophesy, and your old men will dream dreams, and your young men will see visions.

⁷ Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, unless he reveals his secret to his servants the prophets.

¹⁰ I will pour on the house of David, and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of petition; and they will look to me whom they have pierced; and they shall mourn for him, as one mourns for his only son, and will grieve bitterly for him, as one grieves for his firstborn.

²⁵ At that time, Jesus answered, "I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you hid these things from the wise and intelligent, and revealed them to little children.

²⁷ All things have been delivered to me by my Father. No one knows the Son, except the Father; neither does anyone know the Father, except the Son, and he to whom the Son desires to reveal him.

¹⁷ And Jesus answered him, "Blessed are you, Simon Bar Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father who is in heaven.

¹⁵ And he said to them, "Go into all the world, and proclaim the Good News to the whole creation.

²⁶ It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he should not see death before he had seen the Lord's Christ.

⁶ They departed, and went throughout the villages, preaching the Good News, and healing everywhere.

¹⁰ Even so, I tell you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner repenting."

²⁶ "When the Helper has come, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, he will testify about me.

⁷ Nevertheless I tell you the truth: It is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Helper won't come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you. ⁸ When he has come, he will convict the world about sin, and about righteousness, and about judgment; ⁹ about sin, because they do not believe in me; ¹⁰ about righteousness, because I am going to the Father, and you won't see me any more; ¹¹ about judgment, because the prince of this world has been judged. ¹² "I have yet many things to tell you, but you cannot bear them now. ¹³ However when he, the Spirit of truth, has come, he will guide you into all truth, for he will not speak on his own; but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you things that are coming. ¹⁴ He will glorify me, for he will take from what is mine, and will declare it to you. ¹⁵ All things that the Father has are mine; that is why I said that he takes of mine, and will declare it to you.

² Suddenly there came from the sky a sound like the rushing of a mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. ³ Tongues like fire appeared and were distributed to them, and one sat on each of them. ⁴ They were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them the ability to speak.

¹⁷ 'And it will be in the last days, says God, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh; and your sons and your daughters will prophesy, and your young men will see visions, and your old men will dream dreams. ¹⁸ And even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy.

³³ Being therefore exalted by the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, he has poured out this, which you see and hear.

⁸ Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, "Rulers of the people, and elders,

³¹ When they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were gathered together. They were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness.

²⁵ They therefore, when they had testified and spoken the word of the Lord, returned to Jerusalem, and preached the Good News to many villages of the Samaritans.

⁴⁴ While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell on all those who heard the word.

¹⁰ When he had seen the vision, immediately we sought to go out to Macedonia, concluding that the Lord had called us to proclaim the Good News to them.

¹⁵ So, for my part, I am eager to preach the Good News to you also who are in Rome.

¹⁷ For in it is revealed God's righteousness from faith to faith. As it is written, "But the righteous will live by faith."

¹⁵ And how will they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news of peace, who bring good news of good things."

¹⁹ in the power of signs and wonders, in the power of the Spirit of God; so that from Jerusalem, and around as far as to Illyricum, I have fully preached the Good News of Christ;

¹⁰ But to us God revealed it through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God.

⁶ in pureness, in knowledge, in patience, in kindness, in the Holy Spirit, in sincere love,

¹² For neither did I receive it from a human source, nor was I taught it, but it came to me through revelation of Jesus Christ.

¹⁶ to reveal his Son to me, that I might proclaim him among those who are not Jewish, I did not immediately confer with flesh and blood,

¹⁰ to the intent that now through the church the manifold wisdom of God might be made known to the rulers and the authorities in the heavenly places,

⁵ and that our Good News came to you not in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Spirit, and with much assurance. You know what kind of persons we showed ourselves to be among you for your sake. ⁶ You became imitators of us, and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Spirit,

⁹ For you remember, brothers, our labor and travail; for working night and day, that we might not burden any of you, we preached to you the Good News of God.

⁴ God also testifying with them, both by signs and wonders, by various works of power, and by gifts of the Holy Spirit, according to his own will?

² For indeed we have had good news preached to us, even as they also did, but the word they heard did not profit them, because they were not united by faith with those who heard.

³⁹ These all, having had testimony given to them through their faith, did not receive the promise, ⁴⁰ God having provided some better thing concerning us, so that apart from us they should not be made perfect.

²⁵ but the word of the Lord endures forever." This is the word of Good News which was preached to you.

¹¹ I saw, and I heard the voice of many angels around the throne, the living creatures, and the elders; and the number of them was ten thousands of ten thousands, and thousands of thousands;

¹¹ This is how you shall eat it: with your waist girded, your shoes on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and you shall eat it in haste: it is the LORD's Passover.

⁴⁶ The hand of the LORD was on Elijah; and he tucked his cloak into his belt and ran before Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel.

²⁹ Then he said to Gehazi, "Tuck your cloak into your belt, take my staff in your hand, and go your way. If you meet any man, do not greet him; and if anyone greets you, do not answer him again. Then lay my staff on the face of the child."

³ Brace yourself like a man, for I will question you, then you answer me.

⁷ "Now brace yourself like a man. I will question you, and you will answer me.

⁵ Righteousness will be the belt of his waist, and faithfulness the belt of his waist.

¹⁷ "You therefore put your belt on your waist, arise, and speak to them all that I command you. Do not be dismayed at them, lest I dismay you before them.

³⁵ "Let your waist be girded and your lamps burning.

⁸ But will he not say to him, 'Prepare my supper, clothe yourself properly, and serve me, while I eat and drink, and afterward you can eat and drink'?

³⁰ It will be the same way in the day that the Son of Man is revealed.

³⁴ "So be careful, or your hearts will be loaded down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that day will come on you suddenly. ³⁵ For it will come like a snare on all those who dwell on the surface of all the earth.

¹³ Let us walk decently, as in the daytime; not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and lustful acts, and not in dissension and jealousy.

⁴ For whatever things were written before were written for our instruction, that through patience and through encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope. ⁵ Now the God of patience and of encouragement grant you to be of the same mind one with another according to Christ Jesus, ⁶ that with one accord you may with one mouth glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. ⁷ Therefore accept one another, even as Christ also accepted you, to the glory of God. ⁸ Now I say that Christ has been made a servant of the circumcision for the truth of God, that he might confirm the promises given to the fathers, ⁹ and that the non-Jews might glorify God for his mercy. As it is written, "therefore I will give praise to you among the non-Jews, and sing to your name." ¹⁰ Again he says, "Rejoice, you nations, with his people." ¹¹ Again, "Praise the Lord, all you nations. Let all the peoples praise him." ¹² Again, Isaiah says, "There will be the root of Jesse, he who arises to rule over the peoples; in him will the nations hope." ¹³ Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope, in the power of the Holy Spirit.

⁷ so that you are not lacking in any gift, as you wait for the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ;

¹⁴ Stand therefore, having the belt of truth buckled around your waist, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness,

⁶ so then let us not sleep, as the rest do, but let us watch and be sober. ⁷ For those who sleep, sleep in the night, and those who are drunk are drunk in the night. ⁸ But let us, since we belong to the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and, for a helmet, the hope of salvation.

⁷ and to give relief to you who are afflicted with us, when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with his mighty angels in flaming fire,

⁵ But you be sober in all things, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.

¹¹ For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all people, ¹² instructing us to say "No" to ungodliness and worldly desires, and to live soberly, righteously, and godly in this present age; ¹³ looking for the blessed hope and appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ;

¹⁹ This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, a hope both sure and steadfast and entering into that which is within the curtain;

³⁵ Therefore do not throw away your boldness, which has a great reward.

³ Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to his great mercy caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, ⁴ to an incorruptible and undefiled inheritance that does not fade away, reserved in Heaven for you, ⁵ who by the power of God are guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. ⁶ Wherein you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials, ⁷ that the genuineness of your faith, which is more precious than gold that perishes even though it is tested by fire, may be found to result in praise, glory, and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ— ⁸ whom not having seen you love; in whom, though now you do not see him, yet believing, you rejoice greatly with joy inexpressible and full of glory— ⁹ receiving the result of your faith, the salvation of your souls.

¹⁵ But sanctify in your hearts Christ as Lord; and always be ready to give an answer to everyone who asks you a reason concerning the hope that is in you, yet with humility and fear:

⁸ Be sober and self-controlled. Be watchful. Your adversary the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.

³⁰ The times of ignorance therefore God overlooked. But now he commands that all people everywhere should repent,

⁴ We were buried therefore with him through baptism to death, that just like Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we also might walk in newness of life.

² And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God.

² in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the children of disobedience;

¹⁸ being darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the hardening of their hearts; ¹⁹ who having become callous gave themselves up to lust, to work all uncleanness with greediness. ²⁰ But you did not learn Christ that way; ²¹ if indeed you heard him, and were taught in him, even as truth is in Jesus: ²² that you put away, as concerning your former way of life, the old self, that grows corrupt after the lusts of deceit;

⁶ Let no one deceive you with empty words. For because of these things, the wrath of God comes on the children of disobedience.

⁵ Put to death, therefore, whatever is worldly in you: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. ⁶ Because of these, the wrath of God is coming on the children of disobedience. ⁷ You also once walked in those, when you lived in them;

⁵ not in the passion of lust, even as the nations who do not know God;

³ For we were also once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another. ⁴ But when the kindness of God our Savior and his love toward humankind appeared, ⁵ not by works of righteousness, which we did ourselves, but according to his mercy, he saved us, through the washing of rebirth and renewing by the Holy Spirit,

² that you no longer should live the rest of your time in the flesh for human desires, but for the will of God. ³ For enough time in the past has been spent doing the will of the unbelievers, and having walked in lewdness, lusts, drunkenness, orgies, carousings, and abominable idolatries.

³ One called to another, and said, "Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts. The whole earth is full of his glory."

⁴⁸ You therefore are to be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

⁷⁴ to grant to us that we, being delivered out of the hand of our enemies, should serve him without fear, ⁷⁵ In holiness and righteousness before him all our days.

²⁸ And we know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose.

²⁴ us, whom he also called, not from the Jews only, but also from the non-Jews?

¹ Having therefore these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all defilement of flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

¹ Be therefore imitators of God, as beloved children. ² And walk in love, even as Christ also loved us, and gave himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling fragrance.

²⁷ Only let your manner of life be worthy of the Good News of Christ, that, whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of your state, that you stand firm in one spirit, with one soul striving for the faith of the Good News;

¹⁵ that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you are seen as lights in the world, ¹⁶ holding up the word of life; that I may have something to boast in the day of Christ, that I did not run in vain nor labor in vain.

¹⁴ I press on toward the goal for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

²⁰ For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ;

¹² we exhorted, comforted, and implored every one of you to lead a life worthy of God, who calls you into his own Kingdom and glory.

³ For this is the will of God: your sanctification, that you abstain from sexual immorality, ⁴ that each one of you know how to possess himself of his own vessel in sanctification and honor, ⁵ not in the passion of lust, even as the nations who do not know God; ⁶ that no one should take advantage of and wrong a brother or sister in this matter; because the Lord is an avenger in all these things, as also we forewarned you and testified. ⁷ For God called us not for uncleanness, but in sanctification.

¹² Let no one despise your youth; but be an example to those who believe, in word, in your way of life, in love, in faith, and in purity.

⁹ who saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began,

¹¹ For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all people, ¹² instructing us to say "No" to ungodliness and worldly desires, and to live soberly, righteously, and godly in this present age; ¹³ looking for the blessed hope and appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ; ¹⁴ who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify for himself a people for his own possession, zealous for good works.

⁸ This saying is faithful, and concerning these things I desire that you affirm confidently, so that those who have believed God may be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable for people;

¹⁴ Let our people also learn to maintain good works for necessary uses, that they may not be unfruitful.

¹⁴ Pursue peace with everyone, and the sanctification without which no one will see the Lord,

⁵ Be free from the love of money, content with such things as you have, for he has said, "I will never leave you or forsake you."

¹³ Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show by his good conduct that his deeds are done in gentleness of wisdom.

¹² having good behavior among the nations, so in that of which they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they see, glorify God in the day of visitation.

¹⁶ having a good conscience; so that when they speak evil against you, they may be put to shame who slander your good manner of life in Christ.

³ seeing that his divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and virtue; ⁴ by which he has granted to us his precious and exceedingly great promises; that through these you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world by lust. ⁵ Yes, and for this very cause adding on your part all diligence, in your faith supply moral excellence; and in moral excellence, knowledge; ⁶ and in knowledge, self-control; and in self-control patience; and in patience godliness; ⁷ and in godliness brotherly affection; and in brotherly affection, love. ⁸ For if these things are yours and abound, they make you to be not idle nor unfruitful to the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. ⁹ For he who lacks these things is blind, seeing only what is near, having forgotten the cleansing from his old sins. ¹⁰ Therefore, brothers, be more diligent to make your calling and election sure. For if you do these things, you will never stumble.

¹¹ Therefore since all these things will be destroyed like this, what kind of people ought you to be in holy living and godliness, ¹² looking for and earnestly desiring the coming of the day of God, which will cause the burning heavens to be dissolved, and the elements will melt with fervent heat? ¹³ But, according to his promise, we look for new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness dwells. ¹⁴ Therefore, beloved, seeing that you look for these things, be diligent to be found in peace, without blemish and blameless in his sight.

⁷ "To the angel of the church in Philadelphia write: "These are the words of the Holy One, the True One, he who has the key of David, he who opens and no one can shut, and who shuts and no one opens:

⁸ The four living creatures, each one of them having six wings, are full of eyes around and within. They have no rest day and night, saying, "Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God of hosts, who was and who is and who is to come."

¹⁰ They called out with a loud voice, saying, "How long, Master, the holy and true, until you judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth?"

⁴⁴ For I am the LORD your God. Sanctify yourselves therefore, and be holy; for I am holy: neither shall you defile yourselves with any kind of crawling creature that moves on the earth.

² "Speak to all the congregation of the children of Israel, and tell them, 'You shall be holy; for I the LORD your God am holy.

⁷ "'Sanctify yourselves therefore, and be holy; for I am the LORD your God.

³ Do two walk together, unless they have agreed?

⁹ So Jacob said to Pharaoh, "The days of the years of my sojourning are one hundred thirty years. Few and difficult have been the years of my life, and they have not attained to the days of the years of the life of my fathers in the days of their sojourning."

¹⁷ For the LORD your God, he is God of gods, and Lord of lords, the great God, the mighty, and the awesome, who doesn't respect persons, nor takes reward.

¹⁵ For we are strangers before you, and foreigners, as all our fathers were. Our days on the earth are as a shadow, and there is no remaining.

⁷ Now therefore let the fear of the LORD be on you. Take heed and do it: for there is no iniquity with the LORD our God, nor respect of persons, nor taking of bribes."

¹⁹ Who doesn't respect the persons of princes, nor regards the rich more than the poor; for they all are the work of his hands.

¹² "Hear my prayer, LORD, and give ear to my cry. Do not be silent at my tears. For I am a stranger with you, a foreigner, as all my fathers were.

¹⁶ A wise man is cautious and turns away from evil, but the fool is arrogant and reckless.

¹⁴ Blessed is the man who is always reverent; but the one who hardens his heart will fall into evil.

¹⁹ "But I said, 'How I would put you among the children, and give you a pleasant land, the most beautiful inheritance of all the nations.' and I said, 'You shall call me "My Father," and shall not turn away from following me.'

⁹ For then I will purify the lips of the peoples, that they may all call on the name of the LORD, to serve him shoulder to shoulder.

⁹ Therefore, you should pray this way: 'Our Father in heaven, holy be your name.

⁷ "Ask, and it will be given to you. Seek, and you will find. Knock, and it will be opened for you. ⁸ For everyone who asks receives. He who seeks finds. To him who knocks it will be opened. ⁹ Or who is there among you, who, if his son will ask him for bread, will give him a stone? ¹⁰ Or if he will ask for a fish, who will give him a serpent? ¹¹ If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him.

¹⁶ They sent their disciples to him, along with the Herodians, saying, "Teacher, we know that you are honest, and teach the way of God in truth, no matter whom you teach, for you are not partial to anyone.

³⁴ And Peter opened his mouth and said, "Truly I perceive that God does not show favoritism; ³⁵ but in every nation he who fears him and works righteousness is acceptable to him.

¹⁰ But glory, honor, and peace for everyone who does good, to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. ¹¹ For there is no partiality with God.

² Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

⁶ Therefore, we are always confident and know that while we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord;

¹¹ For look at this very thing, that you were made sorry in a godly way. What diligence it produced in you, what clearing of yourselves, what indignation, what fear, what longing, what zeal, what vindication. In everything you proved yourselves to be innocent in this matter.

⁶ But from those who were reputed to be important (whatever they were, it makes no difference to me; God shows no favoritism between people)—they, I say, who were respected imparted nothing to me,

¹⁴ For this cause, I bow my knees before the Father,

⁹ You masters, do the same things to them, and give up threatening, knowing that he who is both their Master and yours is in heaven, and there is no partiality with him.

¹² So then, my beloved, even as you have always obeyed, not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with awe and reverence.

²⁵ But he who does wrong will receive again for the wrong that he has done, and there is no partiality.

¹ Let us fear therefore, lest perhaps anyone of you should seem to have come short of a promise of entering into his rest.

¹³ These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them and embraced them from afar, and having acknowledged that they were strangers and temporary residents on the earth. ¹⁴ For those who say such things make it clear that they are seeking a country of their own. ¹⁵ If indeed they had been thinking of that country from which they went out, they would have had enough time to return. ¹⁶ Instead, they were longing for a better country, that is, a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed of them, to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them.

²⁸ So since we are receiving a Kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us give thanks, through which we may offer service pleasing to God, with reverence and awe,

⁶ "Surely a person goes about like a shadow. Surely he heaps up vain things of wealth, and doesn't know who shall gather them.

⁷ Truly these cannot redeem a person, nor give to God a ransom for him. ⁸ For the redemption of their life is costly, no payment is ever enough,

¹⁰ Do not trust in oppression. Do not become vain in robbery. If riches increase, do not set your heart on them.

¹¹ At that time shall it be said to this people and to Jerusalem, "A hot wind from the bare heights in the wilderness toward the daughter of my people, not to winnow, nor to cleanse;

¹⁴ but have walked after the stubbornness of their own heart, and after the Baals, which their fathers taught them;

¹⁹ "LORD, my strength, and my stronghold, and my refuge in the day of affliction, to you shall the nations come from the farthest parts of the earth, and shall say, 'Our fathers have inherited nothing but lies, vanity and things in which there is no profit.

¹⁷ But we will certainly perform every word that is gone forth out of our mouth, to burn incense to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings to her, as we have done, we and our fathers, our kings and our leaders, in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem; for then had we plenty of food, and were well, and saw no evil.

¹⁸ "'"I said to their children in the wilderness, 'Do not walk in the statutes of your fathers, neither observe their ordinances, nor defile yourselves with their idols.

⁴ Thus says the LORD: "For three transgressions of Judah, yes, for four, I will not turn away its punishment; because they have rejected the LORD's law, and have not kept his statutes. Their false idols which they made, after which their fathers walked, have led them astray.

⁴ Do not be like your fathers, to whom the former prophets proclaimed, saying: Thus says the LORD of hosts, 'Return now from your evil ways, and from your evil doings;' but they did not hear, nor listen to me, says the LORD. ⁵ Your fathers, where are they? And the prophets, do they live forever? ⁶ But my words and my statutes, which I commanded by my Spirit to my servants the prophets, did they not overtake your fathers? Then they repented and said, 'Just as the LORD of hosts determined to do to us, according to our ways, and according to our practices, so he has dealt with us.'"

² "Why do your disciples disobey the Tradition of the Elders? For they do not wash their hands when they eat bread." ³ And he answered them, "Why do you also disobey the commandment of God because of your tradition?

⁵¹ "You stiff-necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, you always resist the Holy Spirit. As your fathers did, so you do. ⁵² Which of the prophets did not your fathers persecute? They killed those who foretold the coming of the Righteous One, of whom you have now become betrayers and murderers.

³⁴ But when they perceived that he was a Jew, all with one voice for a time of about two hours shouted, "Great is Artemis of the Ephesians." ³⁵ When the town clerk had quieted the crowd, he said, "You men of Ephesus, is there anyone who does not know that the city of the Ephesians is temple keeper of the great Artemis, and of the image which fell down from Zeus?

²¹ Because, although they knew God, they did not glorify him as God or give him thanks, but their thinking became nonsense, and their foolish heart was darkened.

²⁰ And again, "The Lord knows the thoughts of the wise, that they are futile."

²⁰ for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body.

²³ You were bought with a price. Do not become slaves of people.

⁴ who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us out of this present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father—

¹⁷ This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you no longer walk as the nations also walk, in the futility of their mind,

¹⁴ who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify for himself a people for his own possession, zealous for good works.

⁷ that the genuineness of your faith, which is more precious than gold that perishes even though it is tested by fire, may be found to result in praise, glory, and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ—

³ For enough time in the past has been spent doing the will of the unbelievers, and having walked in lewdness, lusts, drunkenness, orgies, carousings, and abominable idolatries.

⁵ Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male a year old. You shall take it from the sheep, or from the goats:

⁷ He was oppressed, yet when he was afflicted he did not open his mouth. He was led like a sheep to the slaughter, and like a lamb before its shearer is silent, so he does not open his mouth.

²⁸ even as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."

²⁸ for this is my blood of the new covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.

²⁹ The next day, he saw Jesus coming to him, and said, "Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world.

³⁶ and he looked at Jesus as he walked, and said, "Look, the Lamb of God."

³² Now the passage of the Scripture which he was reading was this, "He was led like a sheep to the slaughter, and like a lamb before its shearer is silent, so he does not open his mouth. ³³ In his humiliation his justice was taken away. Who will declare his generation? For his life is taken from the earth." ³⁴ The eunuch answered Philip, "Who is the prophet talking about? About himself, or about someone else?" ³⁵ Philip opened his mouth, and beginning from this Scripture, preached to him Jesus.

²⁸ Watch out for yourselves and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which he purchased with his own blood.

⁷ Purge out the old yeast, that you may be a new lump, even as you are unleavened. For indeed Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed for us. ⁸ Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old yeast, neither with the yeast of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.

¹⁴ in whom we have our redemption, the forgiveness of our sins;

¹² nor yet through the blood of goats and calves, but through his own blood, entered in once for all into the Holy Place, having obtained everlasting redemption. ¹³ For if the blood of goats and bulls, and the ashes of a heifer sprinkling those who have been defiled, sanctify to the cleanness of the flesh: ¹⁴ how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, cleanse our conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

²² who "committed no sin, nor was deceit found in his mouth." ²³ Who, when he was cursed, did not curse back. When he suffered, did not threaten, but committed himself to him who judges righteously; ²⁴ who his own self bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live to righteousness; by whose wounds you were healed.

¹⁸ Because Christ also suffered for sins once, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring you to God; being put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit;

⁷ But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin.

² And he is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not for ours only, but also for the whole world.

⁵ and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth. To him who loves us, and freed us from our sins by his blood;

⁶ I saw in the midst of the throne and of the four living creatures, and in the midst of the elders, a Lamb standing, as though it had been slain, having seven horns, and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God, sent out into all the earth.

⁹ They sang a new song, saying, "You are worthy to take the scroll, and to open its seals: for you were killed, and redeemed for God with your blood those from every tribe, language, people, and nation,

¹⁴ So I said to him, "My lord, you know." He said to me, "These are the ones who came out of the great tribulation. They washed their robes, and made them white in the Lamb's blood.

¹ And I looked, and suddenly on Mount Zion stood the Lamb, and with him one hundred forty-four thousand, having his name, and the name of his Father, written on their foreheads.

²³ I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, before the earth existed.

² But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, being small among the clans of Judah, out of you one will come forth to me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth are from of old, from everlasting.

²⁵ You are the children of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying to Abraham, 'And through your offspring all the families of the earth will be blessed.' ²⁶ God, having raised up his Servant, sent him to you first, to bless you, in turning away everyone of you from your wickedness."

²⁵ whom God set forth whom God displayed publicly as a mercy seat, through faith in his blood, for a demonstration of his righteousness, because in God's forbearance he had passed over the sins previously committed;

²⁵ Now to him who is able to establish you according to my Good News and the proclamation of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery which has been kept secret through long ages, ²⁶ but now is revealed, and by the Scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the eternal God, is made known for obedience of faith to all the nations;

⁴ But when the fullness of the time came, God sent out his Son, born to a woman, born under the law,

⁴ even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and without blemish before him in love;

¹⁰ to an administration of the fullness of the times, to sum up all things in Christ, the things in the heavens, and the things on the earth, in him;

⁹ and to bring to light for all what is the administration of the mystery which for ages has been hidden in God, who created all things;

¹¹ according to the purpose of the ages which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord;

²⁶ the mystery which has been hidden for ages and generations. But now it has been revealed to his saints,

⁹ who saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began, ¹⁰ but has now been revealed by the appearing of our Savior, Christ Jesus, who abolished death, and brought life and immortality to light through the Good News.

² in hope of everlasting life, which God, who cannot lie, promised before time began; ³ but in his own time revealed his word in the message with which I was entrusted according to the commandment of God our Savior;

² in these last days has spoken to us by a Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, through whom also he made the ages.

²⁶ or else he must have suffered often since the foundation of the world. But now once at the end of the ages, he has been revealed to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.

² (and the life was revealed, and we have seen, and testify, and declare to you the life, the eternal life, which was with the Father, and was revealed to us);

⁵ You know that he was revealed to take away sins, and in him is no sin.

⁸ He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. To this end the Son of God was revealed, to destroy the works of the devil.

⁹ By this God's love was revealed in us, that God has sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. ¹⁰ In this is love, not that we have loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son as the atoning sacrifice for our sins.

⁸ All who dwell on the earth will worship him, everyone whose name has not been written from the foundation of the world in the Book of Life of the Lamb who has been killed.

⁵ Why are you in despair, my soul? Why are you disturbed within me? Hope in God. For I will again give him thanks, my saving presence and my God.

³ Do not put your trust in princes, each a son of man in whom there is no help. ⁴ His spirit departs, and he returns to the earth. In that very day, his thoughts perish. ⁵ Blessed is the one who has the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the LORD his God,

⁷ Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, and whose confidence is in the LORD.

¹⁸ Jesus came to them and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth.

³⁴ For he whom God has sent speaks the words of God; for he does not give the Spirit by measure.

²² For the Father judges no one, but he has given all judgment to the Son, ²³ that all may honor the Son, even as they honor the Father. Whoever does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent him. ²⁴ "Truly, truly, I tell you, he who hears my word, and believes him who sent me, has everlasting life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life.

⁴⁴ Then Jesus shouted out and said, "Whoever believes in me, believes not in me, but in him who sent me.

³¹ When he had gone out, Jesus said, "Now the Son of Man has been glorified, and God has been glorified in him. ³² If God has been glorified in him, God will also glorify him in himself, and he will glorify him at once.

¹ "Do not let your heart be troubled. Believe in God. Believe also in me.

⁶ Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

¹ Jesus said these things, and lifting up his eyes to heaven, he said, "Father, the time has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may also glorify you;

²⁴ whom God raised up, having freed him from the pains of death, because it was not possible that he should be held by it.

³² This Jesus God raised up, to which we all are witnesses. ³³ Being therefore exalted by the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, he has poured out this, which you see and hear.

¹³ The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified his Servant Jesus, whom you delivered up, and denied in the presence of Pilate, when he had determined to release him.

¹⁵ and killed the Originator of life, whom God raised from the dead, to which we are witnesses.

¹⁰ be it known to you all, and to all the children of Israel, that in the name of Jesus Christ the Nazorean, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, in him does this man stand here before you whole.

²⁴ but for our sake also, to whom it will be credited, who believe in him who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead,

⁹ that if you acknowledge with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

¹² to the end that we should be to the praise of his glory, we who had before hoped in Christ: ¹³ in whom you also, having heard the word of the truth, the Good News of your salvation,—in whom, having also believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise,

¹⁵ For this cause I also, having heard of the faith in the Lord Jesus which is among you, and the love which you have toward all the saints,

²⁰ which he worked in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and made him to sit at his right hand in the heavenly places, ²¹ far above all rule, and authority, and power, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age, but also in that which is to come. ²² He put all things under his feet, and gave him to be head over all things for the church, ²³ which is his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all.

⁹ Therefore God also highly exalted him, and gave to him the name which is above every name; ¹⁰ that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, those on earth, and those under the earth, ¹¹ and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

¹ Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus according to the commandment of God our Savior, and Christ Jesus our hope;

⁹ But we see him who has been made a little lower than the angels, Jesus, because of the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, that by the grace of God he should taste of death for everyone.

¹ Therefore leaving the doctrine of the first principles of Christ, let us press on to perfection—not laying again a foundation of repentance from dead works, of faith toward God,

²⁵ Therefore he is also able to save completely those who draw near to God through him, seeing that he lives forever to make intercession for them.

²² who is at the right hand of God, having gone into heaven, angels and authorities and powers being made subject to him.

³⁴ A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also must love one another. ³⁵ By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another."

³ You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you.

¹⁷ "I command these things to you, that you may love one another.

¹⁷ Sanctify them in the truth. Your word is truth.

¹⁹ For their sakes I sanctify myself, that they themselves also may be sanctified in truth.

⁷ The word of God increased and the number of the disciples multiplied greatly in Jerusalem; and a large group of the priests were obedient to the faith.

⁹ He made no distinction between us and them, cleansing their hearts by faith.

⁸ But to those who are self-seeking, and do not obey the truth, but obey wickedness -- wrath and anger,

¹⁶ Do you not know that when you present yourselves to someone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, whether of sin, which leads to death, or of obedience, which leads to righteousness? ¹⁷ But thanks be to God, that, whereas you were slaves of sin, you became obedient from the heart to that form of teaching to which you were entrusted.

⁹ Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor that which is evil. Cling to that which is good. ¹⁰ In love of the brothers be tenderly affectionate one to another; outdo one another in showing honor;

¹ Foolish Galatians, who has cunningly deceived you, before whose eyes Jesus Christ was openly set forth as crucified?

⁵ For we, through the Spirit, by faith wait for the hope of righteousness.

⁷ You were running well. Who interfered with you that you should not obey the truth?

³ being eager to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

⁹ This I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and all discernment;

¹² and the Lord make you to increase and abound in love for one another and for all, even as we also do toward you,

⁸ Therefore he who rejects this does not reject man, but God, who has also given his Holy Spirit to you. ⁹ But concerning brotherly love, you have no need that one write to you. For you yourselves are taught by God to love one another,

³ We are bound to always give thanks to God for you, brothers, even as it is appropriate, because your faith grows exceedingly, and the love of each and every one of you towards one another abounds;

³ As I urged you when I was going into Macedonia, stay at Ephesus that you might command certain people not to teach a different doctrine,

⁵ but the goal of this command is love, out of a pure heart and a good conscience and unfeigned faith;

² the older women as mothers; the younger as sisters, in all purity.

¹⁴ That good thing which was committed to you, guard through the Holy Spirit who dwells in us.

¹⁰ For God is not unrighteous, so as to forget your work and the love which you showed toward his name, in that you served the saints, and still do serve them.

¹⁴ how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, cleanse our conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

⁸ By faith, Abraham, when he was called, obeyed to go out to a place which he was to receive for an inheritance. He went out, not knowing where he was going.

¹ Let brotherly love continue.

¹⁵ And if a brother or sister is poorly clothed and may be lacking in daily food, ¹⁶ and one of you tells them, "Go in peace, be warmed and filled;" and yet you did not give them the things the body needs, what good is it?

⁸ Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

¹⁷ Honor all people. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the king.

¹ In like manner, wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; so that, even if any do not obey the word, they may be won by the behavior of their wives without a word;

⁸ Finally, be all like-minded, compassionate, loving as brothers, tenderhearted, humble,

⁸ Above all things be earnest in your love among yourselves, for love covers a multitude of sins.

¹⁷ For the time has come for judgment to begin with the household of God; and if it begins first with us, what will happen to those who do not obey the Good News of God?

⁷ and in godliness brotherly affection; and in brotherly affection, love.

¹¹ For this is the message which you heard from the beginning, that we should love one another;

¹⁴ We know that we have passed out of death into life, because we love the brothers. He who does not love remains in death. ¹⁵ Whoever hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has everlasting life remaining in him. ¹⁶ By this we know love, because he laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers. ¹⁷ But whoever has the world's goods, and sees his brother in need, and closes his heart of compassion against him, how does the love of God remain in him? ¹⁸ Little children, let us not love in word only, neither with the tongue only, but in deed and truth. ¹⁹ And by this we will know that we are of the truth, and persuade our heart before him,

²³ This is his commandment, that we should believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and love one another, even as he commanded us.

¹² No one has seen God at any time. If we love one another, God remains in us, and his love has been perfected in us.

²⁰ If anyone says, "I love God," and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, cannot love God whom he has not seen.

⁴ But I have this against you, that you left your first love.

²⁸ The prophet who has a dream, let him tell a dream; and he who has my word, let him speak my word faithfully. What is the straw to the wheat?' says the LORD.

³ Look, I will rebuke your seed, and will spread dung on your faces, even the dung of your feasts; and you will be taken away with it.

³⁵ Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.

³ All things were made through him, and apart from him nothing was made that has been made.

³ Jesus answered him, "Truly, truly, I tell you, unless one is born again he cannot see the Kingdom of God."

⁵ Jesus answered, "Truly, truly, I tell you, unless one is born of water and Spirit he cannot enter into the Kingdom of God.

⁶³ It is the Spirit who gives life. The flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and are life.

²³ and traded the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal humans, and of birds, and four-footed animals, and crawling creatures.

¹² For the word of God is living, and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing even to the dividing of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and is able to discern the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

³ Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to his great mercy caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

²⁶ Therefore their inhabitants were of small power. They were dismayed and confounded. They were like the grass of the field, and like the green herb, like the grass on the rooftops when it is scorched by the east wind.

² For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither like the green herb.

⁵ You sweep them away as they sleep. In the morning they sprout like new grass.

⁷ though the wicked spring up as the grass, and all the evildoers flourish, they will be destroyed forever.

⁴ My heart is blighted like grass, and withered, for I forget to eat my bread.

¹⁵ As for man, his days are like grass. As a flower of the field, so he flourishes.

⁶ Let them be as the grass on the housetops, which withers before it grows up;

⁶ The voice of one saying, "Cry." And I said, "What shall I cry?" "All flesh is like grass, and all its glory is like the flower of the field.

¹⁰ and the rich, in that he is made humble, because like the flower in the grass, he will pass away. ¹¹ For the sun arises with the scorching wind, and withers the grass, and the flower in it falls, and the beauty of its appearance perishes. So also will the rich person fade away in his pursuits.

¹⁴ Whereas you do not know what tomorrow will be like. What is your life? For you are a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.

¹⁷ The world is passing away with its lusts, but he who does God's will remains forever.

¹² But you, LORD, will abide forever; your renown endures to all generations.

²⁶ They will perish, but you remain; and they will all wear out like a garment. You will change them like a cloak, and they will be changed.

⁸⁹ LAMED. LORD, your word is settled in heaven forever.

⁸ The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of the LORD stands forever."

¹⁸ For truly, I tell you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or part of a letter will disappear from the Law, until all things are accomplished.

¹⁷ But it is easier for heaven and earth to pass away, than for one tiny stroke of a pen in the Law to become void.

¹ In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

¹⁴ And the Word became flesh and lived among us, and we saw his glory, such glory as of the one and only of the Father, full of grace and truth.

²¹ For seeing that in the wisdom of God, the world through its wisdom did not know God, it was God's good pleasure through the foolishness of the preaching to save those who believe. ²² For Jews ask for signs, and Greeks seek after wisdom, ²³ but we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to the non-Jews, ²⁴ but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God.

² For I determined not to know anything among you, except Jesus Christ, and him crucified.

¹ Now I declare to you, brothers, the Good News which I preached to you, which also you received, in which you also stand, ² by which also you are saved, if you hold firmly the word which I preached to you—unless you believed in vain. ³ For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, ⁴ that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,

¹⁷ He came and preached peace to you who were far off and peace to those who were near.

⁸ To me, the very least of all saints, was this grace given, to proclaim to the non-Jews the unsearchable riches of Christ,

³ but in his own time revealed his word in the message with which I was entrusted according to the commandment of God our Savior;

¹² To them it was revealed, that not to themselves, but to you, they ministered these things, which now have been announced to you through those who preached the Good News to you by the Holy Spirit sent out from heaven; which things angels desire to look into.

¹⁹ We have the more sure word of prophecy; and you do well that you heed it, as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns, and the morning star arises in your hearts:

¹ That which was from the beginning, that which we have heard, that which we have seen with our eyes, that which we saw, and our hands touched, concerning the Word of life

³ that which we have seen and heard we declare to you also, that you also may have fellowship with us. Yes, and our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son, Jesus Christ.
