¹ You shall not see your brother's ox or his sheep go astray, and hide yourself from them: you shall surely bring them again to your brother. ² If your brother isn't near to you, or if you do not know him, then you shall bring it home to your house, and it shall be with you until your brother seek after it, and you shall restore it to him. ³ So you shall do with his donkey; and so you shall do with his garment; and so you shall do with every lost thing of your brother's, which he has lost, and you have found: you may not hide yourself. ⁴ You shall not see your brother's donkey or his ox fallen down by the way, and hide yourself from them: you shall surely help him to lift them up again. ⁵ A woman shall not wear men's clothing, neither shall a man put on women's clothing; for whoever does these things is an abomination to the LORD your God. ⁶ If a bird's nest chance to be before you in the way, in any tree or on the ground, with young ones or eggs, and the hen sitting on the young, or on the eggs, you shall not take the hen with the young: ⁷ you shall surely let the hen go, but the young you may take to yourself; that it may be well with you, and that you may prolong your days. ⁸ When you build a new house, then you shall make a battlement for your roof, that you do not bring blood on your house, if any man fall from there. ⁹ You shall not sow your vineyard with two kinds of seed, lest the whole fruit be forfeited, the seed which you have sown, and the increase of the vineyard. ¹⁰ You shall not plow with an ox and a donkey together. ¹¹ You shall not wear a mixed stuff, wool and linen together. ¹² You shall make yourselves fringes on the four borders of your cloak, with which you cover yourself. ¹³ If any man takes a wife, and goes in to her, and hates her, ¹⁴ and accuses her of shameful things, and brings up an evil name on her, and says, "I took this woman, and when I came near to her, I did not find in her the tokens of virginity"; ¹⁵ then shall the father of the young woman, and her mother, take and bring forth the tokens of the young woman's virginity to the elders of the city in the gate; ¹⁶ and the young woman's father shall tell the elders, "I gave my daughter to this man to wife, and he hates her; ¹⁷ and look, he has accused her of shameful things, saying, 'I did not find in your daughter the tokens of virginity;' and yet these are the tokens of my daughter's virginity." They shall spread the cloth before the elders of the city. ¹⁸ The elders of that city shall take the man and chastise him; ¹⁹ and they shall fine him one hundred shekels of silver, and give them to the father of the young woman, because he has brought up an evil name on a virgin of Israel: and she shall be his wife; he may not put her away all his days. ²⁰ But if this thing be true, that the tokens of virginity were not found in the young woman; ²¹ then they shall bring out the young woman to the door of her father's house, and the men of her city shall stone her to death with stones, because she has done folly in Israel, to play the prostitute in her father's house: so you shall put away the evil from the midst of you. ²² If a man be found lying with a woman married to a husband, then they shall both of them die, the man who lay with the woman, and the woman: so you shall put away the evil from Israel. ²³ If there is a young woman who is a virgin pledged to be married to a husband, and a man find her in the city, and lie with her; ²⁴ then you shall bring them both out to the gate of that city, and you shall stone them to death with stones; the woman, because she did not cry, being in the city; and the man, because he has humbled his neighbor's wife: so you shall put away the evil from the midst of you. ²⁵ But if the man find the woman who is pledged to be married in the field, and the man force her, and lie with her; then the man only who lay with her shall die: ²⁶ but to the woman you shall do nothing; there is in the woman no sin worthy of death: for as when a man rises against his neighbor, and kills him, even so is this matter; ²⁷ for he found her in the field, the pledged to be married woman cried, and there was none to save her. ²⁸ If a man find a woman who is a virgin, who is not pledged to be married, and lay hold on her, and lie with her, and they be found; ²⁹ then the man who lay with her shall give to the woman's father fifty shekels of silver, and she shall be his wife, because he has humbled her; he may not put her away all his days. ³⁰ A man shall not take his father's wife, and shall not uncover his father's skirt.

⁴ "If you meet your enemy's ox or his donkey going astray, you shall surely bring it back to him again. ⁵ If you see the donkey of him who hates you fallen down under his burden, do not leave him, you shall surely help him with it.

⁴ If the people of the land all hide their eyes from that person, when he gives of his offspring to Moloch, and do not put him to death;

³ So you shall do with his donkey; and so you shall do with his garment; and so you shall do with every lost thing of your brother's, which he has lost, and you have found: you may not hide yourself. ⁴ You shall not see your brother's donkey or his ox fallen down by the way, and hide yourself from them: you shall surely help him to lift them up again.

¹¹ Rescue those who are being led away to death. Indeed, hold back those who are staggering to the slaughter.

²⁷ One who gives to the poor has no lack; but one who closes his eyes will have many curses.

¹⁷ I will wait for the LORD, who hides his face from the house of Jacob, and I will trust in him.

⁷ Isn't it to distribute your bread to the hungry, and that you bring the poor who are cast out to your house? When you see the naked, that you cover him; and that you not hide yourself from your own flesh?

⁴ You haven't strengthened the diseased, neither have you healed that which was sick, neither have you bound up that which was broken, neither have you brought back that which was driven away, neither have you sought that which was lost; but with force and with rigor you have ruled over them.

¹⁶ "I will seek that which was lost, and will bring back that which was driven away, and will bind up that which was broken, and will strengthen that which was sick: but the fat and the strong I will destroy; I will feed them in justice."

⁶ Rather, go to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

²⁴ But he answered, "I was not sent to anyone but the lost sheep of the house of Israel."

¹² "What do you think? If someone has one hundred sheep, and one of them goes astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine, go to the mountains, and seek that which has gone astray? ¹³ If he finds it, truly I tell you, he rejoices over it more than over the ninety-nine which have not gone astray.

³¹ By chance a certain priest was going down that way. When he saw him, he passed by on the other side. ³² In the same way a Levite also, when he came to the place, and saw him, passed by on the other side.

⁴ "Which one of you, if you had one hundred sheep, and lost one of them, would not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness, and go after the one that was lost, until he found it? ⁵ When he has found it, he carries it on his shoulders, rejoicing. ⁶ When he comes home, he calls together his friends and his neighbors, saying to them, 'Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost.'

¹⁹ My brothers, if any among you wanders from the truth, and someone turns him back, ²⁰ let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save his soul from death, and will cover a multitude of sins.

²⁵ For you were going astray like sheep; but now have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.

¹² Therefore whatever you desire for people to do to you, so also you should do to them; for this is the Law and the Prophets.

⁶ that no one should take advantage of and wrong a brother or sister in this matter; because the Lord is an avenger in all these things, as also we forewarned you and testified.

⁴⁴ But I tell you, love your enemies, and pray for those who persecute you,

²⁹ But he, desiring to justify himself, asked Jesus, "Who is my neighbor?" ³⁰ Jesus answered, "A certain man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and he fell among robbers, who both stripped him and beat him, and departed, leaving him half dead. ³¹ By chance a certain priest was going down that way. When he saw him, he passed by on the other side. ³² In the same way a Levite also, when he came to the place, and saw him, passed by on the other side. ³³ But a certain Samaritan, as he traveled, came where he was. When he saw him, he was moved with compassion, ³⁴ came to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. He set him on his own animal, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him. ³⁵ On the next day, he took out two denarii, and gave them to the host, and said to him, 'Take care of him. Whatever you spend beyond that, I will repay you when I return.' ³⁶ Now which of these three do you think seemed to be a neighbor to him who fell among the robbers?" ³⁷ He said, "He who showed mercy on him." Then Jesus said to him, "Go and do likewise."

¹ Now we who are strong ought to bear the weaknesses of the weak, and not to please ourselves.

¹⁵ I will most gladly spend and be spent for your souls. If I love you more abundantly, am I loved the less?

¹ Brothers, even if someone is caught in some wrongdoing, you who are spiritual must restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness; looking to yourself so that you also are not tempted. ² Bear one another's burdens, and so you will fulfill the law of Christ.

¹⁴ We exhort you, brothers, admonish the disorderly, encourage the fainthearted, support the weak, be patient toward all.

¹² Therefore, lift up the hands that hang down and the feeble knees, ¹³ and make straight paths for your feet, so that which is lame may not be dislocated, but rather be healed.

¹² For whoever does these things is an abomination to the LORD. And because of these abominations the LORD your God is driving them out from before you.

⁴ Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonors his head. ⁵ But every woman praying or prophesying with her head unveiled dishonors her head. For it is one and the same thing as if she were shaved. ⁶ For if a woman is not covered, let her also be shorn. But if it is shameful for a woman to be shorn or shaved, let her be covered. ⁷ For a man indeed ought not to have his head covered, because he is the image and glory of God, but the woman is the glory of the man. ⁸ For man is not from woman, but woman from man; ⁹ for neither was man created for the woman, but woman for the man. ¹⁰ For this cause the woman ought to have authority on her head, because of the angels. ¹¹ Nevertheless, neither is the woman independent of the man, nor the man independent of the woman, in the Lord. ¹² For as woman came from man, so a man also comes through a woman; but all things are from God. ¹³ Judge for yourselves. Is it appropriate that a woman pray to God unveiled? ¹⁴ Doesn't even nature itself teach you that if a man has long hair, it is a dishonor to him? ¹⁵ But if a woman has long hair, it is a glory to her, for her hair is given to her for a covering.

¹⁷ Bring out with you every living thing that is with you of all flesh, of flying creatures, and animals, and every creature that crawls on the earth, that they may swarm on the earth, and be fruitful and multiply on the earth."

¹¹ Please deliver me from the hand of my brother, from the hand of Esau: for I fear that he will come and attack me and the mothers with the children.

²⁸ Whether it is an ox or a sheep, you shall not kill it and its young both in one day.

¹⁰ A righteous man regards the life of his animal, but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.

¹⁴ Therefore a battle roar will arise among your people, and all your fortresses will be destroyed, as Shalman destroyed Beth Arbel in the day of battle. The mother was dashed in pieces with her children.

⁶ "Are not five sparrows sold for two assaria coins? Not one of them is forgotten by God.

⁴⁰ You shall keep his statutes, and his commandments, which I command you this day, that it may go well with you, and with your children after you, and that you may prolong your days in the land, which the LORD your God gives you, forever.

⁴ The result of humility and the fear of the LORD is wealth, honor, and life.

²⁸ "If a bull gores a man or a woman to death, the bull shall surely be stoned, and its flesh shall not be eaten; but the owner of the bull shall not be held responsible. ²⁹ But if the bull had a habit of goring in the past, and it has been testified to its owner, and he has not kept it in, but it has killed a man or a woman, the bull shall be stoned, and its owner shall also be put to death. ³⁰ If a ransom is laid on him, then he shall give for the redemption of his life whatever is laid on him. ³¹ Whether it has gored a son or has gored a daughter, according to this judgment it shall be done to him. ³² If the bull gores a male servant or a female servant, thirty shekels of silver shall be given to their master, and the ox shall be stoned. ³³ "If a man opens a pit, or if a man digs a pit and doesn't cover it, and a bull or a donkey falls into it, ³⁴ the owner of the pit shall make it good. He shall give money to its owner, and the dead animal shall be his. ³⁵ "If one man's bull injures another's, so that it dies, then they shall sell the live bull, and divide its price; and they shall also divide the dead animal. ³⁶ Or if it is known that the bull was in the habit of goring in the past, and its owner has not kept it in, he shall surely pay bull for bull, and the dead animal shall be his own.

⁶ "If fire breaks out, and catches in thorns so that the shocks of grain, or the standing grain, or the field are consumed; he who kindled the fire shall surely make restitution.

² It happened at evening, that David arose from off his bed, and walked on the roof of the king's house; and he saw a woman bathing, and the woman was very beautiful in appearance.

¹ The burden of the Valley of Vision. What ails you now, that you have all gone up to the housetops?

¹³ and the houses of Jerusalem, and the houses of the kings of Judah, which are defiled, shall be as the place of Topheth, even all the houses on whose roofs they have burned incense to all the host of heaven, and have poured out drink offerings to other gods."'"

¹⁸ When I tell the wicked, 'You shall surely die'; and you give him no warning, nor speak to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life; that wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at your hand.

²⁰ "Again, when a righteous man does turn from his righteousness, and commit iniquity, and I lay a stumbling block before him, he shall die: because you have not given him warning, he shall die in his sin, and his righteous deeds which he has done shall not be remembered; but his blood will I require at your hand.

² "Son of man, take up a lamentation over Pharaoh king of Egypt, and tell him, 'You were likened to a young lion of the nations: yet you are as a monster in the seas; and you broke out with your rivers, and troubled the waters with your feet, and fouled their rivers.' ³ "Thus says the Lord GOD: 'I will spread out my net on you with a company of many peoples; and they shall bring you up in my net. ⁴ I will leave you on the land, I will cast you forth on the open field, and will cause all the birds of the sky to settle on you, and I will satisfy the animals of the whole earth with you. ⁵ I will lay your flesh on the mountains, and fill the valleys with your height. ⁶ I will also water with your blood the land in which you swim, even to the mountains; and the watercourses shall be full of you. ⁷ When I shall extinguish you, I will cover the heavens, and make its stars dark; I will cover the sun with a cloud, and the moon shall not give its light. ⁸ All the bright lights of the sky will I make dark over you, and set darkness on your land, says the Lord GOD. ⁹ I will also trouble the hearts of many peoples, when I shall bring your destruction among the nations, into the countries which you have not known.

²⁷ What I tell you in the darkness, speak in the light; and what you hear whispered in the ear, proclaim on the housetops.

⁶ but whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to stumble, it would be better for him that a huge millstone should be hung around his neck, and that he should be sunk in the depths of the sea. ⁷ "Woe to the world because of stumbling blocks. For there will always be something to cause people to stumble, but woe to the person through whom the stumbling block comes.

⁴ And when they could not bring him because of the crowd, they removed the roof above him. When they had broken it up, they let down the mat that the paralytic was lying on.

⁹ Now on the next day as they were on their journey, and got close to the city, Peter went up on the housetop to pray at about noon.

²⁶ Therefore I testify to you today that I am innocent of everyone's blood, ²⁷ for I did not hold back from declaring to you the whole plan of God.

¹³ Therefore let us not judge one another any more, but judge this rather, not to put a stumbling block in a brother's way, or an occasion for falling.

³² Give no occasions for stumbling, either to Jews, or to Greeks, or to the church of God;

¹⁰ so that you may approve the things that are excellent; that you may be pure and blameless for the Day of Christ;

²² Abstain from every form of evil.

¹⁹ "'You shall keep my statutes. "'You shall not crossbreed different kinds of animals. "'you shall not sow your field with two kinds of seed; "'neither shall there come upon you a garment made of two kinds of material.

²⁴ "No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other; or else he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Mammon.

¹⁶ And no one puts a piece of unshrunk cloth on an old garment; for the patch would tear away from the garment, and a worse hole is made.

⁶ And if by grace, then it is no longer of works; otherwise grace is no longer grace.

¹² For our boasting is this: the testimony of our conscience, that with pure motives and sincerity of God, not in fleshly wisdom but in the grace of God we conducted ourselves in the world, and more abundantly toward you.

³ But I am afraid that somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve in his craftiness, so your minds might be corrupted from the sincerity and purity that is in Christ.

⁶ But let him ask in faith, without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind. ⁷ For let that person not think that he will receive anything from the Lord. ⁸ He is a double-minded person, unstable in all his ways.

¹⁰ Out of the same mouth comes forth blessing and cursing. My brothers, these things ought not to be so.

¹⁴ Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what fellowship has light with darkness? ¹⁵ What agreement has Christ with Belial? Or what portion has a believer with an unbeliever? ¹⁶ What agreement has a temple of God with idols? For we are a temple of the living God. Even as God said, "I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they will be my people."

³⁷ The LORD spoke to Moses, saying, ³⁸ "Speak to the children of Israel, and tell them that they should make themselves fringes in the borders of their garments throughout their generations, and that they put on the fringe of each border a cord of blue: ³⁹ and it shall be to you for a fringe, that you may look on it, and remember all the commandments of the LORD, and do them; and that you not follow after your own heart and your own eyes, after which you use to play the prostitute; ⁴⁰ that you may remember and do all my commandments, and be holy to your God. ⁴¹ I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: I am the LORD your God."

⁵ But all their works they do to be seen by others. They make their tefillin broad and enlarge the fringe of their garments,

²¹ Jacob said to Laban, "Give me my wife, for my time is completed, so that I may sleep with her."

²³ It happened in the evening, that he took Leah his daughter and brought her to him, and he slept wit her.

³¹ The LORD saw that Leah was unloved, so he made her fertile, but Rachel was barren.

¹ When a man takes a wife, and marries her, then it shall be, if she find no favor in his eyes, because he has found some unseemly thing in her, that he shall write her a bill of divorce, and give it in her hand, and send her out of his house.

¹ But after a while, in the time of wheat harvest, that Samson visited his wife with a young goat; and he said, "I will go in to my wife into the room." But her father wouldn't allow him to go in. ² Her father said, "I most certainly thought that you had utterly hated her; therefore I gave her to your companion. Isn't her younger sister more beautiful than she is? Please take her, instead."

²⁸ Even so husbands also ought to love their own wives as their own bodies. He who loves his own wife loves himself. ²⁹ For no one ever hated his own flesh; but nourishes and cherishes it, even as Christ also does the church;

¹⁶ "Do not give false testimony against your neighbor.

¹ "You shall not spread a false report. Do not join your hand with the wicked to be an unjust witness.

¹⁹ and they shall fine him one hundred shekels of silver, and give them to the father of the young woman, because he has brought up an evil name on a virgin of Israel: and she shall be his wife; he may not put her away all his days.

⁸ The words of a gossip are like tasty morsels, and they go down into a person's innermost parts.

²¹ Death and life are in the power of the tongue; those who love it will eat its fruit.

¹⁴ I desire therefore that the younger widows marry, bear children, rule the household, and give no occasion to the adversary for reviling.

²¹ Moreover you shall provide out of all the people able men, such as fear God: men of truth, hating unjust gain; and place such over them, to be rulers of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens.

²⁹ then the man who lay with her shall give to the woman's father fifty shekels of silver, and she shall be his wife, because he has humbled her; he may not put her away all his days.

¹ When a man takes a wife, and marries her, then it shall be, if she find no favor in his eyes, because he has found some unseemly thing in her, that he shall write her a bill of divorce, and give it in her hand, and send her out of his house. ² When she is departed out of his house, she may go and be another man's wife. ³ If the latter husband hate her, and write her a bill of divorce, and give it in her hand, and send her out of his house; or if the latter husband die, who took her to be his wife; ⁴ her former husband, who sent her away, may not take her again to be his wife, after that she is defiled; for that is abomination before the LORD: and you shall not cause the land to sin, which the LORD your God gives you for an inheritance.

⁸ He said to them, "Moses, because of the hardness of your hearts, allowed you to divorce your wives, but from the beginning it has not been so. ⁹ I tell you that whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another, commits adultery. And he who marries her when she is divorced commits adultery."

⁷ The sons of Jacob came in from the field when they heard it. The men were grieved, and they were very angry, because he had disgraced Israel by sexually assaulting Jacobʼs daughter; a thing that should not be done.

⁹ "'The daughter of any priest, if she profanes herself by playing the prostitute, she profanes her father: she shall be burned with fire.

¹⁶ He who blasphemes the name of the LORD, he shall surely be put to death; all the congregation shall certainly stone him: the foreigner as well as the native-born, when he blasphemes the Name, shall be put to death.

²³ Moses spoke to the children of Israel; and they brought forth him who had cursed out of the camp, and stoned him with stones. The children of Israel did as the LORD commanded Moses.

³⁵ The LORD said to Moses, "The man shall surely be put to death: all the congregation shall stone him with stones outside of the camp." ³⁶ All the congregation brought him outside of the camp, and stoned him to death with stones; as the LORD commanded Moses.

⁵ That prophet, or that dreamer of dreams, shall be put to death, because he has spoken rebellion against the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, and redeemed you out of the house of bondage, to draw you aside out of the way which the LORD your God commanded you to walk in. So you shall put away the evil from the midst of you.

¹⁰ You shall stone him to death with stones, because he has sought to draw you away from the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

⁵ then you shall bring forth that man or that woman, who has done this evil thing, to your gates, even the man or the woman; and you shall stone them to death with stones.

⁷ The hand of the witnesses shall be first on him to put him to death, and afterward the hand of all the people. So you shall put away the evil from the midst of you.

¹⁹ then you shall do to him as he had thought to do to his brother: so you shall put away the evil from the midst of you.

²¹ All the men of his city shall stone him to death with stones: so you shall put away the evil from the midst of you; and all Israel shall hear, and fear.

²² If a man be found lying with a woman married to a husband, then they shall both of them die, the man who lay with the woman, and the woman: so you shall put away the evil from Israel.

²⁴ then you shall bring them both out to the gate of that city, and you shall stone them to death with stones; the woman, because she did not cry, being in the city; and the man, because he has humbled his neighbor's wife: so you shall put away the evil from the midst of you.

¹⁷ There shall be no prostitute of the daughters of Israel, neither shall there be a sacred male prostitute of the children of Israel. ¹⁸ You shall not bring the hire of a prostitute, or the wages of a dog, into the house of the LORD your God for any vow: for even both these are an abomination to the LORD your God.

⁶ I took my secondary wife, and cut her in pieces, and sent her throughout all the territory of the inheritance of Israel; for they have committed wickedness and disgrace in Israel.

¹⁰ and we will take ten men of one hundred throughout all the tribes of Israel, and one hundred of one thousand, and a thousand out of ten thousand, to get food for the people, those setting forth, that when they come to Gibeah of Benjamin they may repay all the disgrace that they have committed in Israel."

¹² She answered him, "No, my brother, do not force me. For no such thing ought to be done in Israel. Do not do this folly. ¹³ I, where would I carry my shame? And as for you, you will be as one of the fools in Israel. Now therefore, please speak to the king; for he will not withhold me from you."

¹⁰ "'The man who commits adultery with another man's wife shall surely be put to death, both the adulterer and the adulteress.

²² and this water that brings a curse will go into your bowels, and make your body swell, and your thigh fall away.' The woman shall say, 'Amen, Amen.' ²³ "The priest shall write these curses on a scroll, and he shall blot them out into the water of bitterness. ²⁴ He shall make the woman drink the water of bitterness that causes the curse; and the water that causes the curse shall enter into her and become bitter. ²⁵ The priest shall take the meal offering of jealousy out of the woman's hand, and shall wave the meal offering before the LORD, and bring it to the altar. ²⁶ The priest shall take a handful of the meal offering, as its memorial, and burn it on the altar, and afterward shall make the woman drink the water. ²⁷ When he has made her drink the water, then it shall happen, if she is defiled, and has committed a trespass against her husband, that the water that causes the curse will enter into her and become bitter, and her body will swell, and her thigh will fall away: and the woman will be a curse among her people.

³⁸ I will judge you, as women who break wedlock and shed blood are judged; and I will bring on you the blood of wrath and jealousy.

⁴⁵ Righteous men, they shall judge them with the judgment of adulteresses, and with the judgment of women who shed blood; because they are adulteresses, and blood is in their hands. ⁴⁶ "For thus says the Lord GOD: 'I will bring up a company against them, and will give them to be tossed back and forth and robbed. ⁴⁷ The company shall stone them with stones, and dispatch them with their swords; they shall kill their sons and their daughters, and burn up their houses with fire.

⁴ they said to him, "Teacher, we found this woman in adultery, in the very act. ⁵ Now in the Law, Moses commanded us to stone such. So what do you say?"

⁴ Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled: for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers.

⁷ What man is there who has pledged to be married a wife, and has not taken her? Let him go and return to his house, lest he die in the battle, and another man take her."

¹⁸ Now the birth of Jesus Christ happened like this. His mother Mary had been engaged to Joseph, and before they came together, she was found to be with child from the Holy Spirit. ¹⁹ And Joseph, her husband, being a righteous man, and not willing to make her a public example, intended to put her away secretly.

¹⁴ It shall be, if you are not pleased with her, then you must let her go where she wants; but you may not sell her for money or treat her as a commodity, since you have had relations with her.

²¹ then they shall bring out the young woman to the door of her father's house, and the men of her city shall stone her to death with stones, because she has done folly in Israel, to play the prostitute in her father's house: so you shall put away the evil from the midst of you. ²² If a man be found lying with a woman married to a husband, then they shall both of them die, the man who lay with the woman, and the woman: so you shall put away the evil from Israel.

²⁰ But when he thought about these things, look, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, "Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to yourself Mary, your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit.

²⁴ And Joseph arose from his sleep, and did as the angel of the Lord commanded him, and took his wife to himself;

² You are puffed up, and did not rather mourn, that he who had done this deed might be removed from among you.

¹³ But those who are outside, God judges. "Put away the wicked man from among yourselves."

¹⁴ However he would not listen to her voice; but being stronger than she was, he overpowered her and raped her.

²² If a man have committed a sin worthy of death, and he be put to death, and you hang him on a tree;

⁷ bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

¹⁶ "If a man entices a virgin who isn't pledged to be married, and lies with her, he shall surely pay a dowry for her to be his wife. ¹⁷ If her father utterly refuses to give her to him, he shall pay money according to the dowry of virgins.

⁸ "'You shall not uncover the nakedness of your father's wife: it is your father's nakedness.

¹¹ The man who lies with his father's wife has uncovered his father's nakedness: both of them shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.

²⁰ 'Cursed is he who lies with his father's wife, because he has uncovered his father's skirt.' All the people shall say, 'Amen.'

⁹ He said, "Who are you?" She answered, "I am Ruth your handmaid. Therefore spread the corner of your garment over your handmaid; for you are a redeeming kinsman."

⁸ "'Now when I passed by you, and looked at you, look, your time was the time of love; and I spread my skirt over you, and covered your nakedness: yes, I swore to you, and entered into a covenant with you,' says the Lord GOD, 'and you became mine.

¹ It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you, and such sexual immorality as is not even among the nations, that one has his father's wife.
