³ For they gat not the lande in possessyon thorowe their owne swearde, neyther was it their owne arme that helped them. But thy ryght hande, thyne arme and the lyght of thy countenaunce, because thou haddest a fauoure vnto them.

¹⁶ Let feare and dreade fall vpon them thorow the greatnesse of thyne arme, & let them be as styll as a stone: whyle thy people passe thorow o Lord, whyle the people passe thorowe, whych thou hast gotten.

⁸ If the Lorde haue lust to vs he wyl brynge vs in to thys land and geue it vs, whyche is a lande that floweth wyth mylke and hony.

³⁷ And bycause he loued thy fathers, therefore he chose theyr sede after them and broughte the out wyth hys presence and with hys mighty power of Egypte: ³⁸ to thruste oute nations greater & myghtier then thou before the, to bring the in, & to giue the their land to enheritaunce: as it is come to passe this day.

⁷ It was not bicause of the multitude of you aboue al nations, that the Lord had lust vnto you and chose you. For ye were fewest of all nations. ⁸ But bycause the Lord loued you & bicause he would kepe the oth whych he hadde sworne vnto your fathers, therfore he brought you out of Egypt with a mighty hande and deliuered you out of the house of bondage: euen from the hande of Pharao, kynge of Egypt.

¹⁷ And beware that thou saye not in thyne herte, my power & the myght of mine owne hande hath done me all these actes: ¹⁸ But remembre the Lord thy God, how that it is he which gaue the power to do manfullye, for to make good the promises whiche he sware to thy fathers, as it is come to passe this day.

¹⁵ onely the Lorde had a lust vnto thy fathers to loue them, and therfore chose you their sede after them of al nacions, as it is come to passe this day.

¹² And I sent hornettes before you and ye cast out before you euen the two Kynges of the Amorites: but not with youre owne swerd or wyth your owne bowe.

²² But the Lorde wyl not forsake hys people, because of hys great names sake: because the Lorde had begonne to make you hys people.

⁶ There be many that saye: who wyll do vs any good? Lord lift vp vpon vs the lyghte of thy countenaunce.

⁷ Shewe thy maruelous louing kindnesse, thou that sauest them whiche put their trust in the, from suche as resist thy right hande.

⁶ Now knowe I, that the Lord helpeth hys anoynted, and will heare hym from his holy heauen: myghtye is the helpe of hys ryghte hande.

⁵ Why art thou so full of heuynes, (O my soule) and why arte thou so vnquyet wythin me? O put thy trust in God, for I wyl yet geue him thankes, for the helpe of his countenance

¹¹ Why art thou so heuy (O my soule) & why art thou so disquieted within me? O put thy trust in God, for I wyll yet thanke hym for the helpe of hys countenaunce, and because he is my God.

¹¹ Why withdrawest thou thine hand? why pluckest thou not thy right hande out of thy bosome, to consume thyne enemyes?

¹⁵ Thou wyth thyne arme hast delyuered thy people, euen the sonnes of Iacob and Ioseph. Selah.

¹⁶ For why? it is brent with fyre, and lyeth waste: O let them peryshe at the rebuke of thy wrath.

¹² howe he had led Moses by the ryght hande with hys glorious arme: how he had deuided the water before them (wherby he gat him selfe an euerlasting name)

⁶ He aunswered, and sayde vnto me: Thys is the word of the Lorde vnto Zorobabel, saying: Nether thorowe an hoste of men, nor thorow strength, but thorowe my sprete, sayeth the Lorde of hoostes.

² I haue loued you, sayeth the Lord: and yet ye say: wherin haste thou loued vs? Was not Esau Iacobs brother, sayeth the Lord? yet haue I loued Iacob, ³ & hated Esau: yea I haue made his hilles waste, & his heretage a wildernesse for dragons:

¹⁰ Neither was it so with her onely: but also when Rebecca was wyth childe by one, I meane by oure father Isaac, ¹¹ yer the children were borne, when they had neither done good nor bad: that the purpose of God whiche is by election, might stand, it was sayed vnto her, not by the reason of workes, but by grace of the caller: ¹² the elder shall serue the yonger. ¹³ As it is wrytten: Iacob loued, but Esau he hated. ¹⁴ What shall we saye then? is there any vnrightuousnes with God? God forbid. ¹⁵ For he sayth to Moyses: I will shewe mercy to whom I shewe mercy: and wyll haue compassion

⁷ But we haue thys treasure in earthen vessels that the excellent power of it myght appeare to be of God, and not of vs.
