⁶ If thou teachest a child in his youth what waye he shuld go, he shal not leaue it when he is old

¹⁹ For I know him that he wyl commaunde his chyldren & his houshold after him, that they kepe the way of the Lord, to do after ryght & conscience that the Lord may brynge vpon Abraham that he hath promysed hym.

⁹ Take hede to thy selfe therfore only & kepe thy soule diligently, that thou forget not the thynges whych thyne eyes haue sene, & that they departe not oute of thyne herte, all the dayes of thy lyfe: but teach them thy sonnes and thy sonnes sonnes.

⁷ & thou shalt whett theim on thy children. & shalt talke of theim when thou arte at home in thyne house, and as thou walkeste by the way, and when thou lyest downe and when thou rysest vp:

²⁸ & therfor I also lend him the Lord, as long as he may be lent the Lorde. And so they prayed there vnto the Lord.

²⁶ The chylde Samuel profyted and grewe, and was in fauoure both wyth the Lorde and also with men.

² And se youre kyng walketh before you. But I am olde & graye headed: & behold my sonnes are with you & I haue walked before you from my chyldhode vnto thys daye. ³ Behold here I am: answere me before the Lorde & before his annoynted, whose oxe haue I taken? or whose asse haue I taken? whom haue I done wrong to? or whom haue I pylled? And of whose hand haue I receiued any bribe, to blynde myne eyes therewith? & I wyll restore it you agayne.

³ Whych we haue herde and knowne, and such as our fathers haue told vs. ⁴ That we shoulde not hyde them from the chyldren of the generations to come: but to shewe the honoure of the Lorde, hys myghte and wonderfull worckes that he hath done. ⁵ He made a couenaunte wyth Iacob, and gaue Israel a lawe, whiche he commaunded oure forefathers to teache their chyldren. ⁶ That their posterytye myghte knowe it, and the chyldren whych were yet vnborne. To thintent that when they came vp they myghte shewe their chyldren the same.

⁴ And ye fathers, moue not youre children to wrath, but bringe them vp with the norter and information of the Lorde.

¹⁵ and for as muche also as thou haste knowen holy scrypture of a chyld, whiche is able to make the wyse vnto saluacion thorowe the fayth which is in Christ Iesu.
