¹ Now when we had buylded the wal I hanged on the dores, and the porters syngers and Leuites were appoynted.

¹ And when Dauid was olde and stryken in yeares, he made Salomon hys sonne king ouer Israel. ² And then he gathered together al the Lordes of Israel wt the pryestes & the Leuites. ³ And the Leuites were numbred from .xxx. year & aboue, and he tale of them in men polle by polle was .xxxviij. thousande. ⁴ Of whiche .xxiiij. thousand were set to forther the worcke of the house of the Lorde. And syxe thousand were officers & Iudges. ⁵ Four thousand were porters and four thousand praised the Lord with suche instrumentes as Dauid had made to prayse with all. ⁶ And Dauid put an ordre amonge the chyldren of Leui: Gerson, Cahath and Merari: ⁷ Of the Gersonites was Laadan and Semei: ⁸ The sonnes of Laadan: the chefe was Iehiel, and then Zethan and Ioel, thre. ⁹ The sonnes of Semei, Salomith, Haziel, and Haram, thre. These were the auncient heades of Laadan. ¹⁰ And the sonnes of Semei were also Iahath Zinah, Iaus and Bariah: these foure were the sonnes of Semei. ¹¹ And Iahath was the chefe, Zinah the seconde. But Iaus and Bariah had no many sonnes, and therfore they were rekened for one auncient housholde. ¹² The sonnes of Cahath: Amram, Izahar, Hebron & Vziel, foure. ¹³ The sonnes of Amram: Aaron and Moses. And Aaron was appoynted to consecrate in the place moost holy, with his sonnes for euer: & to burne the offerynges before the Lorde, and to ministre, & to blesse in his name for euer. ¹⁴ And as for Moses the man of God, hys chyldren were named wt the trybe of Leui. ¹⁵ The sonnes of Moses: Gerson & Eliezer. ¹⁶ And of the sonnes of Gerzon: Sabael was the chefe. ¹⁷ The sonnes of Eliezer: Rohabiah the chefe. And Eliezer had no nother sonnes: But the sonnes of Rohabiah were very manye. ¹⁸ And of the sonnes of Izahar: Salomi, the chefe. ¹⁹ The sonnes of Hebron: Ieriahu, the fyrste, Amariah the seconde, Iahaziel the thirde, and Iecmaam the fourthe. ²⁰ The sonnes of Vziel: Micah the fyrste and Iesiah the seconde. ²¹ The sonnes of Merari: Mahali, and Musi, the sonnes of Mahali: Eleazar and Cis. ²² And Eleazar died and had no sonnes but doughters onlye, whiche their brethren the sonnes of Cis toke. ²³ The sonnes of Musi: Mahali, Eder, and Ierumuth, thre. ²⁴ These are the children of Leui in the housholdes of their fathers the auncyent heades, vewed and nombred by name and polle by polle from twentye yeare and aboue, to worcke in the seruyce of the house of the Lorde. ²⁵ For Dauid sayde: the Lorde God of Israel hath geuen reste vnto his people, and they shall dwelle in Ierusalem for euer. ²⁶ Moreouer the Leuites shoulde now no more beare the tabernacle and all the vesselles that pertayneth to the seruice therof. ²⁷ But at the last commaundement of Dauid, ²⁸ the Leuites were nombred from twenty yeare and aboue to wayte at the handes of the sonnes of Aaron in the seruyce of the house of the Lorde, & to haue the ouersyghte of the courtes, and of the store houses, and of the purefyinge of all holye thynges, and of the worcke of the thynges that serued for the house of God, ²⁹ as the shewe breade, the fyne floure, the meateofferynges, the flannes of swete breade, and of the thinges baken in the frying panne, or broiled on the grydyron, and on all maner measures & cyse, ³⁰ and to wayte euery morning to thanke and prayse the Lorde, and lykewyse at euen. ³¹ And to wayte on euery offerynge and burnt sacrifices vnto the Lorde, the Sabbothes and fyrst daies of the monethes, and other feastful dayes by nombre and custome, was their office euer before the Lorde. ³² And that they shoulde wayte on the tabernacle of wytnesse and on the holy place, and on the sonnes of Aaron their brethren, in the seruice of the house of the Lorde.

¹ And Dauid and the captaines of the hoste appoynted out to do seruice, the sonnes of Asaph of Heman and Iduthun, whiche dyd prophesie with harpes psalteries & symbales: & the multytude of them were men to do seruyce in their offices. ² The sonnes of Asaph: Zaur, Ioseph, Nathaniah, Aserealah, to wayte on Asaph, whyche prophesyed by the kynge. ³ The sonnes of Iduthun: Godoliah, Zuri, Isaiah, Rasabiah and Mathathiah, Semei, syxe, at the handes of their fathers Iduthun wyth harpes: which Iduthun prophesyed for to thanke and prayse the Lord. ⁴ The sonnes of Heman: Bokiahu, Mathaniah, Vziel, Zubuell, Ierimoth, Hananiah, Hanam, Eliathat, Gedalthi, Romanthi Ezer, Iesbokasah, Malothi, Hothir and Mahazioth. ⁵ All these were the sonnes of Heman the kynges Sear of vysions with the worde of God, to lyfte vp the horne. God gaue to Heman .xiiij. sonnes, and thre doughters. ⁶ All these were at the hande of their father to synge in the house of the lord with symbales, psalteries, and harpes in the seruyce of the house of God. And at the hand of the king was Asaph, Iduthun and Heman. ⁷ But the multitude of them were with theyr brethren that were connynge in the songe of the Lord. And the nombre of al that taught, were two hundred four skore and eyght. ⁸ And they cast Lottes indifferentlye how they shoulde wayte as wel the smalle as the greate, the scoler as well as the skole mayster. ⁹ And the fyrste lot of Asaph fell to Ioseph. The seconde to Godoliah with hys brethren & sonnes, twelue personnes. ¹⁰ The thyrde fel to Zacur with hys sonnes & brethren beyng .xij. personnes. ¹¹ The fourth to Izari with his sonnes and brethren twelue personnes. ¹² The fyfte to Nathaniah wyth hys sonnes and brethren twelue personnes. ¹³ The syxte to Bokiahu with his sonnes & brethren twelue personnes. ¹⁴ The seuenth to Isarelah with hys sonnes & brethren twelue personnes. ¹⁵ The .viij. to Isaiah wyth hys sonnes & brethren twelue personnes. ¹⁶ The nynthe to Mathaniah wyth his sonnes & brethren twelue personnes. ¹⁷ The tenth to Semei wyth hys sonnes & brethren twelue personnes. ¹⁸ The eleuenth to Azaraell with hys sonnes & brethren twelue personnes. ¹⁹ The twelueth to Hasabiah with hys sonnes & brethren twelue personnes. ²⁰ The thyrtene to Subuel with his sonnes & brethren twelue personnes. ²¹ The fourtene to Mathathiah with his sonnes & brethren twelue personnes. ²² The fyftene to Iermoth wyth his sonnes and brethren twelue persons. ²³ The syxtene to Hananiah with hys sonnes and brethren twelue personnes. ²⁴ The seuentene to Iesbokasah with hys sonnes & brethren twelue persons. ²⁵ The eyghtene to Hanani with his sonnes and brethren twelue personnes. ²⁶ The nientene to Malothi with his sonnes and brethren twelue personnes.

² And Hezekiah set the preastes and the Leuites in theyr ordre to wayte by course, euery man according to his office whether preaste or Leuite: for the burntoffringes and peace offringes, & to ministre and to thanke and to praye in the gates of the lodge of the Lorde.

⁸ In the seconde yeare of their commynge vnto the house of God at Ierusalem in the seconde moneth, beganne Zorobabel the sonne of Salathiel, and Iesua the sonne of Iosedec, & the remnaunt of their brethren the pryestes and Leuites, and al they that were come oute of the captyuyte vnto Ierusalem, & appoynted the Leuites from twentye yeare old, and aboue, to se, that the worcke of the house of the Lorde went forwarde.

¹ And Eliasib the hye priest gat hym vp wyth hys brethren the priestes, and buylded the Shepegate. They repared it, & set vp the dores of it, euen vnto the toure Meah repared they it, namely vnto the toure of Hananeel. ² Next vnto hym buylded the men of Iericho. And beside hym builded Sachur the sonne of Amri. ³ But the fyshport dyd the chyldren of Asanah build, they couered it, and set on the dores, lockes & barres of it. ⁴ Nexte vnto hym buylded Marimoth the sonne of Vriah the sonne of Hakoz. Nexte vnto hym buylded Mosolam the sonne of Barachiah the sonne of Mesesabeel. Nexte vnto hym, buylded Zadoc the sonne of Baana. ⁵ Next vnto hym buylded they of Thekua. But theyr greate men put not theyr neckes to the seruyce of theyr Lorde. ⁶ The Oldegate buylded Iehoiadah the sonne of Paseah, and Masolam the sonne of Besodiah they couered it, and set on the dores lockes and barres of it. ⁷ Nexte vnto them builded Malatiah of Gabaon, and Iadon of Merano, men of Gabaon and of Mazphah for the seate of the captayne on thys syde the water. ⁸ Nexte vnto hym buylded Vsiel the sonne of Harhaiah the goldsmyth. Nexte vnto hym buylded Hananiah the Apotecarys sonne, & they repayred Ierusalem vnto the brode wal. ⁹ Nexte vnto him builded Raphaiah the sonne of Hur the ruler of the halfe quarter of Ierusalem. ¹⁰ Nexte vnto hym buylded Iedaiah the sonne of Haremaph ouer agaynst his house. Nexte vnto hym buylded Hatus the sonne of Hasaboniah. ¹¹ But Melchia the sonne of Harim, and Hasub the sonne of Pahath. Moab buylded the other pece, and the tower besyde the fornace. ¹² Nexte vnto hym buylded Selum the sonne of Halohes the ruler of the halfe quarter of Ierusalem, and hys doughters. ¹³ The valeye gate buylded Hanun, and the cytesins of Zanoah. They buylded it, and set on the dores, lockes and barres thereof, and a thousand cubites on the wal, vnto the Dong porte. ¹⁴ But the donge port buylded Melchiah the sonne of Rechab, the ruler of the fourthe parte of the vyneyardes: he buylded it, & set on the dores, lockes and barres therof. ¹⁵ But the Wellgate buylded Selum the sonne of Cholhosah, the ruler of the fourthe parte of Masphah. He buylded it, and couered it, and set on the dores, lockes, and barres therof, & the wall vnto the pole of Siloah by the kynges garden, vnto the steppes that go doune from the cytye of Dauid. ¹⁶ After hym builded Nehemiah the sonne of Asdok, the ruler of the half quarter of Bethzur, vntyll the other side ouer agaynste the sepulchres of Dauid, & to the pole Asuia, and vnto the house of the myghtye. ¹⁷ After hym buylded the Leuites, Rehum the sonne of Bani. Nexte vnto hym buylded Hasabiah the ruler of the halfe quarter at Keilah in hys quarter. ¹⁸ After him buylded theyr brethren, Bauai the sonne of Henadad, the ruler of the halfe quarter of Keylah. ¹⁹ After hym builded Ezer the sonne of Iosua the ruler of Masphah the other pece harde ouer agaynst the harnesse corner. ²⁰ After hym buylded Baruch the sonne of Zabai the other pece worshipfully and costly, from the corner vnto the dore of the house of Ehasib the hye priest. ²¹ After him buylded Marimoth the sonne of Vriah the sonne of Hacos the other pece, from the dore of the house of Eliasib euen as longe as the house of Eliasib extended. ²² After hym builded the priestes, the men of the countreye. ²³ After hym builded Beniamin & Hasub ouer against theyr house. After them Asariah the sonne of Maasiah the sonne of Ananiah next vnto his house. ²⁴ After hym buylded Benui the sonne of Henadad the other pece from the house of Asariah vnto the turnynge, and vnto the corner. ²⁵ After hym buylded Phalel the sonne of Vsai ouer agaynst the corner and the hye toure, which lyeth oute ouer from the kynges house besyde the court of the preson. After hym Phadaiah the sonne of Pharos ²⁶ (as for the Nethinims they dwelte in Ophel, vnto the Watergate, towarde the easte where the tower lyeth oute). ²⁷ After hym buylded they of Thekua the other pece ouer agaynst the greate toure, that lyeth outward, and vnto the wall of Ophel. ²⁸ But from the Horsgate forthe buylded the priestes, euerye one ouer agaynst hys house. ²⁹ After them buylded Zadock the sonne of Emer ouer agaynste hys house. After hym buylded Semeiah the sonne of Sechaniah the keper of the eastgate. ³⁰ After hym buylded Hananiah the sonne of Selemiah, and Hanun the sonne of Zalaph the sixte, the other peace. After hym buylded Mosolam the sonne of Barachiah ouer agaynste hys cheste. ³¹ After hym buylded Melchiah the goldesmythes sonne, vntyll the house of the Nethinims & of the merchauntes ouer agaynste the councel gate, and to the parler in the corner. ³² And betwene the parloure of the corner vnto the shepegate builded the goldsmythes and the merchauntes.

¹ And when Sanabalat, Tobiah and Gesem the Arabian, and the other of oure enemyes hearde that I had buylded the wall, and that there were no mo gappes therein (howbeit at the same time had I not hanged the dores vpon the gates)

¹⁵ And the wall was fynyshed on the fyue & twentye daye of the moneth Elul, in two & fyftye dayes.

³⁹ For the children of Israel & the chyldren of Leui shall brynge vp the heaueofferynges of the corne, wine and oyle vnto the chestes. And ther shal be the vessels of the sanctuarye, & the priestes that minyster, and the porters and syngers, that we forsake not the house of oure God.

³ These are the heades of the lande that dwelte in Ierusalem and in the cities of Iuda. And euery one dwelt in hys possession, & in their cyties of Israel, the priestes, Leuites, the Nethinims, and the chyldren of Salomons seruauntes.

²⁴ And these were the chefe amonge the Leuytes, Hasabiah, Serebiah and Iesua the sonne of Cadmiel, and theyr brethren ouer agaynste them, to geue prayse and thankes, according as Dauid the man of God had ordeyned it, one watche ouer agaynst another
