And the chylde was healed euen that same houre. ¹⁹ Then came the disciples to Iesus secretly and sayd: Why coulde not we cast hym out?

⁴⁰ And there came a leper to hym, besechinge hym, and kneled doune vnto hym, and sayde to hym: yf thou wylt, thou cannest make me cleane.

¹⁴ And he came to hys disciples, & saw muche people about them, and the Scribes disputing with them. ¹⁵ And strayght waye all the people when they behelde hym, were amased, & ranne to hym, and saluted hym. ¹⁶ And he sayde vnto the Scribes: what dispute ye with them? ¹⁷ And one of the company aunswered & said: Master, I haue broughte my sonne vnto the which hath a domme spirite. ¹⁸ And whensoeuer he taketh hym, he teareth hym, and he fometh and gnasheth with hys tethe, & pyneth away. And I spake to thy disciples that they should caste him out, and they coulde not. ¹⁹ He aunswered him and sayd: O generation without fayth, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I suffer you? Brynge hym vnto me. ²⁰ And they broughte hym vnto him. And assone as the spirite saw him, he tare him. And he fell doune on the grounde, walowing and fomynge. ²¹ And he axed his father: howe long is it ago, sence this hath happened him? And he sayde, of a chylde: ²² & ofte times casteth him into the fyre, and also into the water too destroye him. But if thou canste do anything, haue mercy on vs, and helpe vs. ²³ And Iesus sayd vnto him: yea, if thou couldest beleue, al thinges are possible to him that beleueth. ²⁴ And strayght way the father of the chylde cryed with teares saying: Lorde I beleue, helpe myne vnbelefe. ²⁵ When Iesus sawe that the people came runnyng together vnto him, he rebuked the foule spirit, saying vnto him: Thou domme & deaf spirite, I charge the come out of him, & enter no more into him. ²⁶ And the spirit cryed & rent him sore, and came out. And he was as one that had bene dead, in so much that many sayd, he is dead. ²⁷ But Iesus caught his hande and lyft him vp: and he rose. ²⁸ And when he was come into the house, his disciples axed him secretly why could not we cast him out? ²⁹ And he sayed vnto them: this kynde can by no nother meanes come forth but by prayer and fastinge.

¹⁷ And when he was come into the way, there came one runnyng and kneled to him, & axed hym: good mayster, what shall I do, that I maye enheret eternall lyfe?

³⁷ And it chaunched on the nexte dayes as they came doune from the hill, much peopel mete hym. ³⁸ And beholde a man of the company cried out saiyng: Maister, I beseche the beholde my sonne, for he is all that I haue: ³⁹ and se, a sprete taketh him, and sodenlye he cryeth, and he teareth him that he fometh agayne, and wyth much payne departeth from hym, when he hath rent hym, ⁴⁰ and I besought thy dyscyples to cast him out, and they coulde not. ⁴¹ Iesus aunswered and sayde: O generacyon without fayth, and croked, howe longe shall I be wyth you? & shall suffer you? Bringe thy sonne hyther. ⁴² As he yet was a commyng, the fende rent hym, and tare hym. And Iesus rebuked the vncleane spirite and healed the chyld, and delyuered hym to hys father. ⁴³ And they were all amased at the myghtye power of God. Whyle they wondred euerye one at al thinges, whiche he dyd, he sayde vnto hys discyples:

²⁵ And as it chaunsed Peter to come in, Cornelius met him, and fel doune at his fete, and worshipped him. ²⁶ But Peter toke him vp saiynge: stand vp: for euen I me selfe am a man.
