¹ After these dedes, GOD dyd proue Abraham and sayde vnto hym: Abraham. And he answered here am I.

⁷ Than spake Isaac vnto Abraham his father & sayde: My father? And he answered here am I my sonne. And he sayde: Se here is fyre and wood, but where is the shepe for sacryfice?

¹¹ Than the angell of the Lorde called vnto him from heauen sayinge: Abraham Abraham? And he answered: here am I.

⁴ And when the Lord sawe that he came for to see, he called to hym out of the bushe, and sayed: Moyses, Moyses. And he answered: here am I.

²⁵ And Moses cried vnto the Lorde, and he shewed hym a tree: and he cast it in to the waters, and they waxed swete. There he made them an ordinaunce & a law & there he tempted them, ²⁶ & sayde: If ye wyll herken vnto the voyce of the Lord your god, & wyl do that which is ryght in his syght & wyl geue an eare vnto hys commaundementes, and kepe all hys ordynaunces: than wyll I put none of these diseases vpon the whych I brought vpon the Egypcyans, for I am the Lord thy surgione.

⁴ Than sayd the Lord vnto Moses: behold I wyl rayne bred from heauen doune to you, & let the people go out, & gather day by daye that I maye proue them whether they wyll walke in my lawe or no.

² And thinke on all the waye whych the lord thy God ledde the this .xl. yere in the wildernesse, for to humble the and to proue the, to wete what was in in thyne herte, whether thou wouldest kepe his commaundements or no,

¹⁶ which fed the in the wildernes with Manna whereof thy fathers knewe not for to humble the and to proue the, that he myght do the good at thy later ende.

³ herken not vnto the wordes of the prophete, or dreamer of dreames. For the Lord thy God tempteth you to wete whether ye loue the Lord your God wt all youre hertes & wyth all your soules.

²² and that to proue Israel through them whether they wyll kepe the waye of the Lord to walke therin, as their fathers dyd or not.

¹ And the Lorde was wrath again agaynst Israel, and stered vp Dauid against them sayinge: go and nombre bothe Israel & Iuda.

³¹ But when the Ambassadoures of the Lordes of Babylon were sent to hym to enquyre of the wondre that chaunsed in the land, God lefte hym: to tempte hym, that all that was in hys herte myght be knowen.

³ Lyke as syluer is tryed in the fyre and golde in the fornace, euen so doeth the Lorde proue the hertes.

⁸ After thys I heard the voyce of the Lord takyng aduysement on thys maner: Whome shall I sende, & who wylbe oure messenger? Then I sayde: here am I, sende me.

¹³ There hath none other temptacion taken you, but suche as foloweth the nature of man. But God is faythful whiche shall not suffre you to be tempted aboue your strength: but shall in the middest of the temptacion make a waye to escape out.

¹⁷ In fayth Abraham offered vp Isaac, when he was tempted, and he offered hym beynge hys onelye begotten sonne, whiche had receyued the promyses,

¹² Happy is the man that endureth in temptacyon, for when he is tryed, he shal receyue the croune of lyfe, which the Lorde hath promised to them that loue hym. ¹³ Let no man saye when he is tempted, that he is tempted of God. For god tempteth not vnto euyl, neyther tempteth he any man: ¹⁴ But euerye man is tempted, drawne awaye, & entysed of hys owne concupiscence.

²¹ Was not Abraham oure father iustifyed thorowe workes when he offered Isaac hys sonne vpon the aultare?

⁷ that youre faythe ones tryed beynge muche more precyous, then golde that perysheth (though it be tryed with fyre) myghte be founde vnto laude, glory, and honoure, at the apearynge of Iesus Christ
