² And he sayde: take thy only sonne Isaac whome thou louest, and get the vnto the lande Moria, & sacrifice him there for a sacrifice vpon one of the mountayns whych I wyl shewe the.

¹⁹ Then sayd God: Sara thy wyfe shal bere the a sonne in dede & thou shalt cal his name Isaac. And I wyll make my bond with him, that it shalbe an euerlasting bond vnto hys seed after him.

¹² Than the Lord sayd vnto Abraham: let it not be greauous vnto the, because of the ladd and of thy bondmayde: But in all that Sara hath sayde vnto the, heare her voyce, for in Isaac shall thy seed be called.

¹² And he sayde: laye not thy handes vpon the chylde, nether do any thyng at all vnto him, for now I know that thou fearest God, in that thou hast not kepte thyne only sonne from me.

¹⁶ by my selfe haue I sworne (sayth the Lord) because thou hast done this thynge and hast not spared thy only sonne,

³¹ then that thinge that cometh out of the dores of my house agaynst me, when I come home in peace, from the children of Ammon, shalbe the Lordes, and I wil offer it vp a burntoffering.

³⁹ And after the two monethes, she turned againe vnto her father, which dyd with her accordinge to his vowe, which he had vowed, & so she knewe no man. And it became an ordinaunce in Israell yere by yere,

²⁷ And then he toke his eldest sonne that should haue raigned in his stead, and offered him for a burntofferynge vpon the walles. And there came so greate wrathe vpon Israel, that they departed from hym & returned to their owne lande.

⁷ Hath the Lorde a pleasure in many thousand rammes, or innumerable streames of oyle? Or shal I geue my fyrstborne for myne offences, and the fruyte of my body for the synne of my soule?

¹⁶ For God so loueth the worlde, that he hath geuen his only sonne, that none that beleue in him, should perishe: but should haue euerlastinge lyfe.

⁸ But God setteth out his loue that he hath to vs, seing that whil we wer yet sinners, Christ died for vs.

³² whyche spared not his owne sonne but gaue hym for vs all: how shall he not wyth hym geue vs all thynges also?

¹⁷ In fayth Abraham offered vp Isaac, when he was tempted, and he offered hym beynge hys onelye begotten sonne, whiche had receyued the promyses,

⁹ In this appered the loue of God to vsward, because that God sent his onely begotten sonne into the world, that we myght lyue thorow him: ¹⁰ Herin is loue, not that we loued God, but that he loued vs, & sente his sonne to make agrement for our synnes.
