¹ Stande fast therfore in the lybertye wherewith Christ hath made vs free and wrappe not your selues againe in the yoke of bondage.

¹² O geue me the comforte of thy helpe agayne, and stablish me with thy sprete.

²³ Labour for to get the truth: sell not away wisdome, nurtour and vnderstanding

¹ The spirite of the Lorde God is with me, for the Lorde hath annointed me, & sent me, to preache good tydinges vnto the poore, that I myght binde vp the wounded hertes, that I myght preach delyueraunce to the captyue, and open the preson to them that are bounde:

²⁸ Come vnto me all ye that labour and are laden and I wyll ease you. ²⁹ Take my yocke on you and learne of me, for I am meke and lowly in herte: and ye shall fynde reste vnto your soules. ³⁰ For my yocke is easy: and my burden is lyght.

⁴ for they say and do not. Yea, and they bynd heauy burthens and greuous to be borne and lay them on mens shoulders: but they them selfs will not heaue at them with one of theyr fyngers.

³² and shal know the truth, and the truthe shall make you free. ³³ They aunswered hym. We be Abrahams seede, and were neuer bonde to any man: why sayest thou then: ye shalbe made, fre? ³⁴ Iesus aunswered them: verelye, verelye I say vnto you, that whosoeuer committeth synne ³⁵ is the seruaunte of synne. And the seruaunte abydeth not in the house for euer. ³⁶ But the sonne abydeth euer. Yf the sonne therfore shal make you fre, then are ye free in dede.

¹⁰ Now therfore why tempte ye God, that ye woulde put a yoke on the disciples neckes, which neyther our fathers nor we were able to beare.

¹⁴ Let not synne haue power ouer you. For ye are not vnder the lawe, but vnder grace.

¹⁸ Ye are then made fre from sinne, & are become the seruauntes of rightuousnes.

³ So then if whyle the man liueth the completh her selfe wyth an other man, she shall be counted a wedlocke breaker. But yf the man be dead, she is fre from the law, so that she is no wedlocke breaker, though she couple her selfe wyth an other man.

⁶ But nowe are we deliuered from the lawe, & dead from that where vnto we were in bondage, that we should serue in a newe conuersacion of the spirite, and not in the olde conuersacion of the letter.

² For the law of the spirite that bringeth lyfe through lyfe through Iesus Christe, hath delyuered me from the lawe of synne & death.

²² For he that is called in the Lord beynge a seruaunte, is the Lordes freman. Lykewyse he that is called beynge fre, is Christes seruaunte.

⁵⁸ Therfore my deare brethren, be ye stedfast and vnmouable alwayes ryche in the workes of the Lorde, for as much as ye knowe, howe that your labour is not in vaine in the Lorde.

¹³ Watche ye, stande faste in the fayth, quyte you lyke men and be stronge,

¹⁷ The Lorde no doubte is a spiryte. And where the spiryte of the Lorde is, there is libertye.

⁴ and that because of incommers beynge false brethren which came in amonge other to spye out our lybertye which we haue in Christe Iesus, that they myghte brynge vs into bondage.

²⁵ But after that fayth is come, nowe are we no lenger vnder a scholemayster.

⁹ But nowe seynge, ye knowe God (yea rather are knowen of God) how is it that ye turne agayne to the weake & beggerly ceremonies, wherevnto agayne ye desyre a freshe to be in bondage?

²⁶ But Hierusalem, whiche is aboue, is fre, whiche is the mother of vs all.

³¹ So then brethren we are not chyldren of the bonde woman, but of the fre woman.

¹³ Brethren ye were called into lybertye onelye let not youre lybertye be an occasyon vnto the fleshe, but in loue serue one another.

¹⁴ Stande therfore, and your loynes gyrde about wyth veritie, hauinge on the breste plate of rightuousnes,

²⁷ Onlye let your conuersation be as it becommeth the Gospell of Christ, that whether I come and se you, or els be absent, I maye yet heare of you, that ye continue in one spyrite, and in one soule, labouring as we do, to mayntayne the fayth of the Gospell,

¹⁶ Let no man therfore trouble youre consciences aboute meate and drincke, or for a peace of an holye daye, as the holy daye of the new mone, or of the Saboth dayes, ¹⁷ whyche are nothinge, but shaddowes of thinges to come, but the bodye is in Christe. ¹⁸ Let no man make you shoute at a wronge marke which after his owne ymaginacion walketh in the humblenes and holynes of aungels, thynges which he neuer sawe: causelesse puft vp with his fleshely minde, ¹⁹ and holdeth not the head, wherof all the bodye by ioyntes and couples receyueth nouryshment, & is knyt together, & encreaseth wyth the increasynge that cometh of God. ²⁰ Wherfore yf ye be deade wyth Christe from the ordinaunces of the world, why as though ye yet liued in the worlde, are ye ledde wyth tradicions of them that saye? ²¹ Touche not, tast not, handel not, ²² whiche all perishe wyth the vsynge of them, and are after the commaundementes and doctrines of men,

⁸ For nowe are we alyue, yf ye stande stedfast in the Lorde.

¹⁵ Therfore brethren stande fast and kepe the ordinaunces which ye haue learned: whether it were by oure preachynge or by epistle.

⁶ But Chryste as a sonne hath rule ouer the house, whose house are we, so that we holde faste the confidence and the reioysynge of that hope, vnto the ende.

¹⁴ We are partakers of Christe, yf we kepe sure vnto the ende the fyrste substaunce,

¹⁴ Seyng then that we haue a great hye prieste, which is entred into heauen (I meane Iesus the sonne of God) let vs holde our profession.

⁸ Wherewith the holy ghost this signifyinge, that the waye of holy thynges, was not yet oppened, whyle as yet the fyrst tabernacle was standynge. ⁹ Whyche was a simylytude for the tyme then present, and in whyche were offered gyftes and sacrifices that coulde not make the mynyster perfecte, as pertaynynge to the conscience, ¹⁰ wyth onelye meates and drynkes and dyuers washynges and iustifiynges of the fleshe, whyche were ordeyned vntyll the tyme of reformacyon. ¹¹ But Christe beynge an hye prieste of good thynges to come, came by a greater & a more perfecte tabernacle, not made wyth handes: that is to saye, not of thys maner buyldynge,

²³ and let vs kepe the professyon of our hope, wythout wauerynge (for he is faithful that promysed)

³⁵ Caste not awaye therfore youre confidence whiche hath great reward to recompence. ³⁶ For ye haue nede of pacyence, that after ye haue done the wyll of God, ye myght receyue the promes. ³⁷ For yet a very lyttel whyle, and he that shall come wyll come, and wyll not tarye. ³⁸ But the iuste shall lyue by fayth. And yf he wythdrawe hym selfe my soule shal haue no pleasure in him. ³⁹ We are not whych wythdrawe our selues vnto dampnacyon, but partayne to faith, to the winnynge of the soule.

¹⁶ as fre, and not as hauynge the lybertye for a cloke of maliciousnes, but euen as the seruauntes of God.

¹⁹ They promis them libertie, and are them selues the bonde seruauntes of corrupcyon. For of whomsoeuer a man is ouer come, vnto the same is he in bondage.

³ Beloued, when I gaue all dylygence to wryte vnto you of the commen saluacyon: it was nedefull for me to wryte vnto you, to exhorte you, that ye should contynuallye labour in the faythe whiche was ones geuen vnto the saynctes.

²⁰ But ye dearely beloued, edifye your selues in your moste holy faythe, praying in the holye ghost, ²¹ and kepe your selues in the loue of God, lokynge for the mercye of oure Lorde Iesus Christe, vnto eternall lyfe.

²⁵ but that whiche ye haue allreadye. Hold faste, tyll I come,

³ Remember therfore howe thou hast receiued and hearde, and hold faste & repent. Yf thou shalt not watche, I wyl come on the as a thiefe, and thou shalt not knowe, what hour I wil come vpon the.
