⁶ Vayne thinges they se, & tel lyes, to maintayne their preachynges with al. The Lorde (saye they) hath spoken it, when in very dede the Lorde hath not sent them.

⁶ And then the kynge of Israell gathered of the Prophetes together, vpon a foure hundred men, and sayde vnto them: shall I go to Ramoth in Galaad to battayle, or be stylle? And they saide: go, for the Lorde shall delyuer it into the handes of the kynge.

²⁷ and saye: thus sayth the kinge. Put ye this felow in the preson house, and fede hym with breade and water straytlye, vntill I returne in peace.

³⁷ And when the kynge of Israel was dead, they came to Samaria and buryed hym there.

¹⁵ An ignoraunt boddy beleueth all thynges, but who so hath vnderstandyng, loketh well to his goinges.

¹⁴ And the Lorde sayde vnto me: The prophetes preach lyes vnto them in my name. I haue not spoken wyth them, nether gaue I them eny charge, nether dyd I sende them: yet they preach vnto you false visions, charming vanite, & disceytfulnesse of their owne herte.

³¹ Beholde, here am I (sayeth the Lorde) agaynst the prophetes, that take vpon their tunges to speake: The Lorde hath sayde it. ³² Beholde, here am I (sayeth the Lorde) agaynst those prophetes, that darre prophecye lyes, and dysceyue my people with their vanities, and myracles, whom I neuer sent, ner commaunded them. They shall do thys people greate harme, sayeth the Lorde.

² Thus sayeth the Lorde of Hostes the God of Israel: I haue broken the yocke of the kynge of Babilon,

¹⁵ Then sayde the Prophete Ieremye vnto the prophet Hananiah: Heare me (I praye the) Hananiah: The Lorde hath not sent the, but thou bringest this people into a false belefe.

⁸ For thus sayth the Lorde of hostes the God of Israell: Let not those prophetes and sothsayers that be amonge you dysceyue you: and beleue not youre owne dreames.

³¹ Sende worde to all them that be in captiuite, on thys maner: Thus hath the Lorde spoken concernynge Semeiah the Nehelamite: Because that Semeiah hath prophecyed vnto you wythoute my commyssyon, & broughte you into a false hope,

¹⁹ Where are youre prophetes whych haue prophecied vnto you, and sayd, that the kinge of Babilon should not come against you & this lande?

¹⁴ Nun. Thy prophetes haue loked out vayne and folish thinges for the, they haue not shewed the of thy wickednesse, to kepe the from captyuite: but haue ouerladen the, and thorowe falshed scatred the abrode.

²³ Tell them therfore: thus sayth the Lorde God: I wil make that by worde to ceasse, so that it shal no more be commonlye vsed in Israel. But saye this vnto them: The dayes are at hande, that euery thinge whiche hath bene prophecyed, shalbe fulfylled. ²⁴ There shal no visyon be in vayne, neyther anye prophecye fayle amonge the chyldren of Israel:

⁷ Vayne vysions haue ye sene, and spoken false Prophecyes, when ye saye: the Lorde hathe spoken it where as I neuer sayde it.

²² Seynge that with youre lyes ye discomforte the herte of the ryghteous, whome I haue not discomforted: Agayne. For so muche as ye corage the hande of the wycked, so that he maye not turne from hys wicked waye, and lyue: ²³ therfore shall ye spye oute no more vanite, nor prophecye youre owne gessinges: for I wyl delyuer my people oute of youre hande, that ye maye knowe, howe that I am the Lorde.

²³ Neuertheles, as for the sothsayenge, they shal holde it but for vanitie, euen as thoughe a yest were tolde them: yea & they them selues remembre their wyckednesse, so that by ryght they must be taken and wonne.

²⁹ (because thou hast loked the out vanities, and prophecied lies) that it may come vpon thy necke, like as vpon the other vngodly, which be slayne: whose day came, when their wickednesse was full.

²⁸ As for thy Prophetes, they dawbe wyth vntempered claye, they se vanytyes, and prophecye lyes vnto them, sayinge: the Lorde God sayeth so, where as the Lorde hathe not spoken.

² For vayne is the answere of Idols. The sothsayers se lyes, & tel but vayn dreames: the comforthe that they geue, is nothinge worth. Therfore go they astraye lyke a flocke of shepe, & are troubled, because they haue no sheperde.

⁶ For manye shall come in my name, sayinge: I am Christ, and shall deceyue manye.

²² for false Christes shal ryse, and false prophetes, and shall shewe myracles and wondres, to deceyue yf it were possible, euen the elect. ²³ But take ye hede: beholde I haue shewed you all thynges before.

¹¹ And therfore God shall sende them stronge delusyon, that they shoulde beleue lyes:

¹⁸ For when they haue spoken the swellinge wordes of vanitie, they begyle with wantonnes thorowe the lustes of the fleshe, them that were cleane escaped, but nowe are wrapped in errours.
